In the spring of 1941, Reverend William Huffman was asked to deliver last rites at a plane crash nearby. Once he arrived, he realized that this wasn't a plane crash, but rather a silver saucer that had crashed. Part of the UFO was ripped open and inside he saw bizarre knobs and dials, components of some sort of alien design, and strange hieroglyphics. There were three alien bodies lying near the crashed object. They were short with large heads, no hair, and covered head to toe in what looked like aluminum foil. The military showed up, cordoned off the area, confiscated all photographs, and swore everyone there to secrecy.

Although the government tried to keep this UFO crash secret, Charlotte Mann, Huffman's granddaughter, began to talk about what had happened after her dying grandmother told her everything. The brother of the sheriff of Cape Girardeau also remembered hearing of a crash with little people associated with it, and multiple people began to make deathbed confessions of what they saw that night.
