En aquella oportunidad, Chirino dijo no saber con seguridad qué hacer para que esa popularidad continuara con el paso de los años: “Yo no tengo los medios porque los medios en Cuba son controlados por el gobierno, y mi nombre y mi imagen es completamente vetada”.
