Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Relics Radio Wednesday Night DK here from Adventures and Dirt.
Welcome everyone, Welcome everyone, Wednesday night. Bring in my co
host here. You know him, AZ fifty two Adventures Tony. Hey, Hey,
put the drink down, Bud, it's showtime. Turn your mic
(00:21):
on too.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I can't hear you, damn it. I gotta do it
again then see because.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
He's drinking cheers. I wonder what that would sound like
with that high pitched voice here.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
We'll mess around with that later. All right, man, I'm
great Another Wednesday Night Love Relics Radio Wednesday nights. Yeah,
happy to be back with you and get to talk
about a whole bunch of different stuff. We've had a busy,
like busy week number one, but uh, you know we
missed I think we missed last week. Yeah, we missed
(00:58):
last week. So we got two weeks worth of information
to kind of talk about and get out there busy.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I mean, I don't know if they can handle all
that kind of information.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
We've we've had a lot to do, and I mean
we're right into uh, you know, the springtime, so Colorado.
You know it's like hit or miss, man. I mean,
I know a couple of weeks ago, we got a snowstorm,
you know, and then we've had some rain. Then we'll
have you know, eighty degree days. So it's hit or
miss out here in Colorado. So we're right getting into
when we should be out detecting. So we've got a
(01:30):
lot of information to relay and talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah we do, we do. Boy, my yard's in sad
shape to it. It's just calling my name, like please,
I know, and get us in shape. Yep. My wife
and are big sort of gardeners and stuff, and it.
You know, we've hit the ground running. We've kind of
been able to get out and do some detecting. There's
always that's going on on the weekend, and it's like, man,
(01:55):
this weekend, I got to give some love to that
yard for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
I can't wait to see what you get this your
last year, you absolutely killed it.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
You were posting pictures of your garden and what's in
all the all the hard work coming out of it.
And then I'm ready to see. I mean, you know
you're gonna improve every single year. You're gonna learn what
you can can't do and which you know the direction
you want to go. So I'm anxious what do you
uh got a game plan already set up or what.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well, you know a little bit. The standards. We always
have the standards. One last year we discovered uh, purple
Cherokee tomatoes, which I'd never had before. Those are absolutely amazing.
But every year we swat you know, you always are
supposed to switch switch your crops around, you know, I
mean like, yeah, and I'm in a different area each time.
And so this year we're going back to the crop
(02:42):
organization to where has been the most prolific. It's been
the most productive that I can remember over the past
few years. So I'm really looking forward to it. Yeah,
we we have, you know, we my wife plants all
kinds of like you know, pest control plants and flowers
and herbs and stuff that helped keep kind of the
pests away. And shoot, you see our strawberry plants already,
(03:05):
they're absolutely going nuts. Are really. We got to start
all of them, have like you know, the starting of
fruit on them, and we got to cover them for
the rabbits come and eat all of them. So we're
already into that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Robert Thompson says black purple tomatoes are the best black
at krim and Cherokee purple.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
There you go. I haven't had the black crim before,
but boy, write it down. Man, I learned all I
got the Cherokee purple last year, and yeah, I won't
go back.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Man. This is what I think you need to do,
and this is strictly for a selfish reason for myself.
You need to plant corn and then we'll flood it
and then we'll hunt ducks out of your out of your.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yard, out of my little ten ft.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
I know you can touch the back the back fence
from your deck, but let's just flood it and then
we'll sit back there. I'll bring I'll bring the waiters,
the whiskey and the duck calls, and we'll see what
we can bring in.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
And my my army neighbor behind me will catch any
of this. Yeah, people, hear me talking about rotating crops. Now,
you gotta understand I have just a small yard. I
have these giant raised flower beds, and those are my
crops that I rotate.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Oh okay, okay, I misunderstood you there. I thought we're
talking like a thousand minimum acres, you know.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, five miles throw some mail on that he's been
growing for years. Oh, I'm just I'm always carrying a
salt shaker in my back pocket. Man.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh yeah, you have to absolutely. Now that's a great
question for the for the people. We're already have to
quit a few people in chat. But did you grow
up or do you now? You know, when you have
a garden, do you go out pull off it? I
know you're talking about pulling off tomatoes, taking out your
pocket knife, cutting it open, sprinkle some salt on, eat
it right off the vine. Does anybody else do that?
(04:47):
I know I do? I do anybody else?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
You know? No, screw the pocket knife, man, I just
start chomping onto that bg you eat it like ant
on it. No, that and the cucumbers and they're in
my strawberries, like I barely get stuff in the house
my wife.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
But yeah, yeah, what you're bringing in is actually fifty
percent of what you're pulling off the vine.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Huh. There you go. But luckily we grow enough to
where it's like there you go. Before last we grew
so much, we were just giving that stuff away left
and right. Yeah too, do you want? We have these
giant griller zucchini that were just like this big, massive
green giller zucchinis, and we're we couldn't give them away
fast enough, Like, please, somebody take these.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
That's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Tonight. Yeah, I know who's in the chat, well, a
lot of people coming in. Good to see.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
I know, look at this. We got Bill Hayes's here
like a half hour early.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
There you go saying, how to y'all?
Speaker 2 (05:43):
We had tim from U. Bill Digger says, Happy Thursday, Eve,
all you dirty money lovers.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Thursday Eve.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
That's our thing because we're so setting our ways for
being Thursdays.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Huh right, yeah, get used to. I know it's it's difficult.
It used to be podcast and then it was Friday,
and then Friday up in the morning, it was like
I can get through this day. Yeah, I got one
more day now, and now I got two more days.
So are getting used to?
Speaker 2 (06:12):

Speaker 2 (07:40):

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Another dad joke.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Nick from Thin Blue Diggers, Hello, everyone, Nice to see you. Nick.
I got a text message from Nick earlier, I think
it was today. He showed me these pictures of all
these morales that morel mushrooms, like I'm not kidding, I'm
not exaggering, an entire table full of morels. He said
his buddy had found all these out in his backyard
(08:10):
or something like. That's crazy. Might be a little bit
longer to Colorado has them close though close. I've seen
Shane Blush clush one. Yeah, yep, you staid Hoe Digger.
Hope everyone's having a good evening. Good to see it, hey,
Rocky Mountain Life prospecting up in the mountains joining r
(08:32):

Speaker 1 (08:33):
That's r m LP.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
What's that's a little bit easier?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Well, brush propper? Yeah, uh yeah, what's that brush popper?
That's right? And my wife just texted me it's hailing outside.
I got all this stuff? Is it on my window outside?
I'm like turning around looking at it like I got
stuff coming through.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
When I say hello, good evening, it's mister Jim Steele,
Thanks for joining us tonight. Jim always Jim always, great
to have you on. Jim was winner of a couple
of giveaways we had recently, so absolut yeah, make sure
you keep listening to Rocks Radio. It could be you
next time. Detect SD saying, good evening. Yeah, we're gonna
see detect SD here. How many weeks do we have now?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Oh my gosh, it's coming right out.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Let's see, it's four weeks.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
That's gonna be right around the corner.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
So yep, Yeah, we've got Rush to the Rockies coming
to Colorado in four weeks. And uh, detect SD reached
out to Ken and I said, Hey, I'm making the
trip down south to visit you guys. So we're gonna
do some detecting with him.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, and uh, I'm coming to his neck A Woods
next week Tuesday and Wednesday. But I'm tied up with stuff,
you know, kind of looking at the job site and
kicking back, you know, you know, hanging out.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
But yeah, yeah, time to get out. That's for gosh,
that would be good if you could. Yeah, how about
Andrew's adventures. Good evening from Canadia, Andrew T Welcome and
Andrew welcome and of course cheers from five mel Agarela Hunter.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
There's a couple of the people here. Uh Workman's Adventures.
I saw come in. Oh yeah, were assassin. There we go,
No way.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
How about dig fifty to fifty?
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Oh there you go. Dirt Claud's here, Dirt Cloud Nice
actually welcome everyone. They could just keep going and going right.
I got a look or Troy see people poping and
welcome everybody to Wednesday night Relics Radio. What do we
got coming up? We talked about four weeks from now yep,
(10:40):
and you're probably gonna get sick of us talking about this,
but from the next four weeks you're gonna hear us
talk about a lot. We have our national Open Metal
Detecting event here in Colorado. Now, I know you see
a ton of metal detecting events, seated hunts, wild hunts
going on all across the United States. And the Eureka
Treasure Hunters Club, which is Tony and Nice Club and
(11:01):
Jeff Lubert and a bunch of other people. We put
on these hunts. We've been putting them on since the
club's in around since nineteen seventy three. This is their
twenty fifth hunt. So we're no strangers to putting on
these hunts. We were putting on hunts before putting on
hunts was cool. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
We missed last year, but we got this one coming
up this year. It's called the Rendezvous twenty twenty five
in Kiowa, Colorado, which is just outside of Denver. It
should be a lot of fun. It's a seated hunt,
which means we plant everything in the ground, you go
out and you find it. There's tokens out there for prizes.
We have all the greatest manufacturers, all the manufacturers, they're
(11:43):
just the greatest supporting us. This year. We have knocked
As stepped up in an absolutely big way. Thank you,
docta huge, huge main sponsor of ours, Garrett stepping up
all as always, and mind Lab stepping up as always,
just supporting us absolutely great. We have ex caliber shovels
supporting us, we have all kinds of great manufacturers supporting us,
(12:06):
and mind Lab even went a step further and kind
of brought out the Masters of Metal competition to our hunt.
So our hunt is May thirtieth, thirty first in June first,
that's a Friday Saturday and Sunday. You can find out
all information at Eureka THC dot org or just search
Rush to the Rockies in Google and it'll you'll find it.
(12:27):
You'll you'll find your way over there to it. You
got all the registration forms over there, got all the information.
If you can't find something you're looking for, go ahead
and message me or message Tony, get a hold of
us and we'll be able to share it with you.
But Tony, I know everyone always says, what is Masters
of Metal sounds like a heavy metal concert?
Speaker 2 (12:45):
It is?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
It is. I'm ready to guitar, my play saxophone.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Really, Masters of Metal is a competition put on by
mind Lab, and they've got a couple a couple of
different events. You have a team of four, three active
competitors in one alternate and you guys compete in different events.
(13:13):
Each event is gonna be scored individually and collectively as
a team. Collect those points over for your team, and
then you know they're gonna they're gonna crown at the
end the Master of Metal. We've got four different events,
four different times for the Masters of Metal. So I
know this guy right here and myself we formed a team.
(13:36):
So if you guys want to compete against us trying
to beat It's not gonna take much to beat us.
But if you want to come on out. And I'm
showing a video here. This was Rush to the Rockies
in twenty twenty two, so as we're talking about Masters
of Metal. But yeah, it's gonna be a great competition,
great time. You know, it's all friendly competition, but it
(13:57):
is competition, right, opportunity to when you're ready for.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
This first place twenty five dollars. Can't beat that. You
pay fifty bucks for your team, but it's a team,
not per person, but per team, Nope, for a chance
to winning twenty five hundred dollars first place, second place,
fifteen hundred third place. I think it's a thousand or
eleven hundred, one thousand, thousand bucks.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
So it's not too bad, No, not too shabby at all.
You know, it's gonna test a whole bunch of different
things including gold panning, target identification, speed detecting, those kind
of different things. So yeah, it's gonna be awesome. We're
very very excited to uh to participate, and you know
it's all with Rush to the Rockies the same weekend.
(14:42):
It's not gonna interfere with Rush to the Rockies Masters
and MELS is completely separate. You know, quote event on
that weekend with us at the same site out in Cayua, Colorado.
So you already gave up the website, right.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Yeah, And then you can also go to look on
mind Labs website for Masters of Metal and find Colorado
on there and you can register your team there. But
they have all the all the information on our Eureka
Eureka Treasure Hunters Club website or over app mind Lab
or like I said, if you if you're missing anything,
just reach out to Tony and I and we'll hook
you get you the info. And Tony's cooking all weekend
(15:21):
for everybody. And he's no, I get that wrong, Tony.
Can you hear me? Tony? You got a little frog
in your throat? Tony, you may want to take some
another drink of whatever you're drinking.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Oh jeez, I'm sorry about that.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
So that's uh, that's that. How about this now that
we're done with the Rush of the rock As, we've
got that off the list, what's uh the big Netflix
reunion something coming up next week here on Relics Radio. Yeah,
tell us what's going on next week.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Next week we're having we're gonna be talking about treasure hunts.
Next week we're gonna be talking about Forrest Fenn and
we're gonna be talking about the brand new Justin Posey hunt.
We're gonna be talking about a couple other hunts that
are out there that you can get involved in. There's
a bunch of other ones John Collins Black, but there's
a few other ones even that aren't as popular. But
(16:25):
we're gonna have We're gonna have market marking. Mike and
Christy on from Coal Lazars, you know them as Cow
and k Pro, They're gonna be coming on. They have
been the consistent live streaming YouTube channel and all things
treasure hunting. They were completely active through the entire Forest
Fan treasure hunt. They just constantly, constantly have been covering
(16:48):
it and now the new treasure hunts they're covering. They
even put on treasure hunts themselves. They have a pretty
good community around them that they have a discord server.
If you don't know what that is, we'll talk about
it next week with them, but really cool and they
just constantly go live and talk all about these treasure
hunts and what they're thinking about. And they have a
community where you can share ideas and kind of bounce
(17:10):
stuff off of people. So they're gonna come on and
talk to us about I'm really excited about it and yeah.
So recently there's a Netflix show called was It Golden Greed? Yep,
all about the Forest Fen treasure Hunt where it kind
of talks all about the searchers and what it was
and all kinds of stuff. It's actually done really well,
(17:31):
and we always joke that, you know, Kenflix, I appear
for about point zero three seconds in the Netflix thing.
They show an image of me saying something, and that's
about it. But they also show Mike and Christy from
Kalasars quite a number of times in the show. And so, yeah,
we're all gonna get together and talk about not only
that program and how they got involved in it kind
(17:54):
of what it was like, but also you know, their
ideas on the hunt and what they think about the
whole nature of treasure hunting in twenty twenty five. So
it should be a great show. Next Wednesday, join us
right here at eight pm Eastern on Relic Radio. That
should be a good time.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah, it's it's kind of a community that's growing, just
like you know we're talking about you know, we were
were putting on a seated hunt before, you know, seated
hunts were cool. I mean it's grown so much. I
mean it seems like there's there's you could pick an
throw a dart at a dark board and pick out
a weekend and you're gonna have some sort of a
hunt somewhere in the United States. Same thing with now
(18:33):
with these treasure hunts and these these hidden treasures with
poems and and you know, ciphers and all these different
things that you have to you have to figure out
and discover the treasures. And it seems like it's becoming,
you know, it's starting to come in a lot more.
And I think it's fantastic. I think it's great. You know,
(18:53):
Forrest fem was the og on that, and you know
he said his intent was to get people out of
nature to enjoy not only you know, the thrill of
the chase, the thrill of the hunt, but just to
get out there and enjoy your family. I know, you
you search with it with your family.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
The Netflix series it was talking about a lot with
doing things as your family and searching for these treasures
with your families and stuff like that. So I think
it's fantastic, you know, if you if people have the
means and the ability to put these things out on
and put them out there, and the smarts like Justin
Posey does to throw things out there, and I think
it's fantastic. It's absolutely fantastic. So join us next week.
(19:31):
Get your questions ready, you know, I'm sure we'll all
be racking our brains to try and figure out and
de cipher some different codes and things like that. So
it's been a great time. I'm ready. I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
I covered a small amount of it, you know what
I mean. I was really into the forest Fen treasure hunt,
and I covered it a little bit, but I didn't
go as nuts as like Calazars does, right, like they
really cover it. And I'll tell you, I just dip
my toe in it and for searches out there, you
know what that means. But I just dip my toe
in it little bit. And boy, got exposed to the
(20:02):
world of that treasure hunting community. And you have the
full spectrum. Man, you have some people that are kind
of really kind of out there that have some really
unique ideas, and you have other people that are real
scientific about it, and you're always like wanting to bounce in,
you know, ideas off each other without actually giving away
what you're thinking about. It becomes a quandary on what
(20:25):
you should do with that. So we'll ask them how
they deal with that. Since they have an entire hub
of searchers that can go and bounce bounce stuff off.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yep, it should be like it gonna be a good
Week's gonna be a good good uh good.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Guest yep, yep, yep, yep. Hey did you see this? Oh?
Oh what? Yeah? So XP finally released digs Detect dig
Smile says, did you all see the XP released the
new HF coil for the Day is two? And yes,
I did see that. Pretty amazing. Everyone's really been waiting
(21:03):
for it, and now people are gonna be clamoring for it.
You know, I don't know if I'm going to get it.
I don't know if I'm gonna get it.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
They had to do something to try to get into
that same kind of level as where the Manicore is
right over here, so that I mean they had to
do something hopefully hopefully, you know, it's in the same
zip code, but you know, may not be in the
same you know spot.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Oh we're just gonna keep on that, huh, just keep on.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I will absolutely, absolutely, no, that's that's great. I mean,
XP has an incredible following. It's an incredible machine. The
day is two and if they're stepping up the game
with a high frequency coil, things gonna be tough to beat.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Gonna be tough to beat. Yeah, it's got a lot
of high frequency and I know some people are like, well,
what am I gonna ever use that for? You know, right?
But yeah, it's it's it's small, it's tight, it's got
any charging system, it's got graphite you know, like a uh,
you know, real light shaft stem for it. It looks
(22:07):
really cool. It's like I think it's like a was
it like five by nine something like that, nine and
a half by five, But it it's operating frequencies are
from nine killer hurts up to ninety killer herts, right,
and that's in you if you're in multi frequency mode,
nine to ninety nine to ninety in multi frequency and
(22:29):
nine to one hundred and twenty in mono mode. So
if you go in mono mode, you go from nine
to one hundred and twenty, and that, my friends, is
a gold nugget seeking machine right there. That's gonna be
that's gonna battle against like the gold Bug two and
all kinds of stuff like that. That's some high frequency
stuff that is incredible. So yeah, it'll it's it's it's
(22:52):
a gold killing machine. But they're they're promoting it as
not just for gold, just for finding very very small
stuff higher in the frequent so you go the smaller
items you're gonna find, and it's, uh, it's pretty interesting,
pretty inch. I was looking at it. It'll be interesting
to see how many people buy that and what they
what they use it for. If you're gonna get it
(23:13):
in the chat, let me know, uh what you're gonna
use it for. What do you think is gonna benefit
you on? And maybe we'll have marill on again to
talk about it once it actually starts coming out. I
know they just released it on their website and and
videos and stuff.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
So yeah, detecting dig smiles some interesting to see what
is uh, what it done on the what's it's done
on the beach right right now? Which is you know,
because of mineralization, you know, that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
So yep, it's gonna hear a lot of stuff. Man,
it's gonna hear a lot of stuff. So I'm sure
there has to be an update coming. So there'll probably
be a day or two update coming to handle this
coil once it's fully you know, before it gets in
people's hands. I think they're just taking pre orders right now.
I've seen numbers like around the three forty range or something, okay,
(24:05):
which Deis is like that. Their coils are really expensive
because all the brains are in the coil, you know
what I mean. So their coils are more expensive than
most other people's detectors coils because they're more than just
a send receive unit, you know, I mean tool.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah, yeah, well that's great. I think you're gonna probably
need to get it, because after I've got this m nine,
it's just putting you to sleep with just the regular
dais too.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
You know, it's getting so bad between us between this
manticore and this Dais that we're we're gonna talk about
a little bit. But Tony and now Tony and I
got and a buddy of ours got out on a
new permission this weekend. A couple of new permissions and
we're letting this quasi giving each other. The business bleed
over to homeowners and landowners, like like, I remember when
(24:51):
we were walking out through the land or I'm like, Oh,
don't worry about he won't find anything over there. He's
got the machines, got the wrong machine with them. And
I mean they didn't know what we were talking abou
They have no clue.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
It's it's a it's a an inside joke on us here.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
And I got to remember that they don't know what
we're talking about. Yeah, yeah, or our sense.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Yes, So let's let's talk about, uh, you know what
what happened this weekend?
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Well, I found all the stuff and Tony did you're
full of it.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Let's back up to the beginning. Do you want do
you want to disclose how we got the information or
you just want to talk about the the site kind
of thing.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
Yeah, we can talk about how we got the information.
We've talked about on one other show. I think it was. Yeah,
it opened up some conversation and.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
I think it's a great a great idea to throw
out and if people are just checking in for the
first time, I think they could definitely benefit from this.
Type of approach, tactical approach to getting permissions.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
It's another permission gaining tool in your arsenal. It is,
and everyone in the chat, like they did last time,
is going to say there is no absolutely no uh
mistaken it, and there's no substitutions going up knocking on
a door and get in front of each other, get
in front of a person, taking off your hat and
asking for permission.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
And we absolutely believe that can't straight from that.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
But yeah, like we'll target an area, we'll look at this,
we'll get some ideas. Here's the doors you want to
go knock, or let's see if we can approach this farmer,
and blah blah blah, because we have found something there
in the past, we've seen it, we've done the research,
and that becomes a target of ours. So we really
want to go get permission. There have to get in
front of those people, you have to put your face
on it. But I'm in an old town with even
(26:35):
older parameters out in the farm fields and ranches and stuff,
and I can't get around to all of them. So
I do what they call facebook fishing. Facebook fishing. That's
a great term right there, fishing for fishing for permissions,
so I'll create a postation out there just essentially essentially,
(26:57):
you're putting your information out there, getting looking for a bite. Yeah,
that's all you're doing. Hey, whore, here's who I am,
here's what I'm looking for, here's the age of the properties,
and here's why I do it, and here's what's in
it for you, and and and you know, let me know,
here's my email address so we can take it off
of the public domain. And you know, last time, I
think I read my entire speel. I'm not going to
(27:18):
do that tonight. But yeah, that's what I do. You
put it out there and you just see if you
get any people that bite, you're lure, right, Yeah, And
it's not a bad thing. It's it's maybe getting you
people that you wouldn't necessarily go after, you know, because
if there's like, hey, I've got a house that was
made in this day, you're like, yeah, maybe you know,
(27:38):
I'm go check that out. What's your address, kind of
research it, see what was there in the old days.
Or sometimes you're like, hey, I'm on this property. It's
got one of the original schoolhouses from blah blah blah blah, blah,
and you're like really, okay, yeah, you're not on my
target list, but guess what now you are and you
just gave me permission, so now I don't have to
work for it. Just got to keep the communication up
(28:02):
with you and see if we can meet. So that's
what usually I'll do, is I'll get these responses, I'll
ask them to email me. I'll reach back out, I'll
start this communication with them. I'll even offer see if
we can come out and just meet each other, introduce
myself so they know who I am. Or sometimes they're
just like, yeah, great, when do you want to come out?
You know? And this weekend was two of those. Two
(28:24):
to those yeah to those bites that came in, they
both were wonderful people and they both were like totally totally.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
All about it, absolutely and and you know, once, like
you said, you know, you start doing a little bit
of research, we do notice.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
It is an older sight.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
You know, there was things that from these dates, so
you know you're not just going out to a brand
new development. Yeah, I saw that you're not going out
to a brand new development, which we've.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Got quite a few of those out here in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
But you know that type of idea. You know, it's
an old farm, it's an old homestead, it's an old house,
and an old neighborhood and an old town. You know,
you know, little of research because you know people people
don't know, and you want to you you don't want
to make the trip and you know, get to you know,
a house that was built in twenty twenty two in
a cookie cutter neighborhood. So a little bit of research
(29:13):
was done and confirmed.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Yes, absolutely, these are the types of sites that were
gonna target.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
So let's go out there. You've talked with the people.
We got to meet. Both of the owners were absolutely phenomenal. Again, like,
we can't enjoy this hobby on private permissions without incredible
landowners like we've got this past weekend.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
So they were great, man, awesome. Not only we'll talk
about each one of the permissions. We'll go into that
what we found and how we did what we did.
But you know I like about this stuff too is
because of the because of the the way we had
to approach these landowners to go out and detect with them.
You know, we didn't have open imitations like that, let's
(29:54):
meet at this time, right, yeah, I mean right, I can.
They're private people, right, so let's meet at this time.
We're like, okay, it's a little later than we normally
like to get going, but it gave us an opportunity
as a team. You and Michael would go out and
we had some breakfast and we found a little local
cafe in the little town that she lived in, and
we got to go there and you know, have some
(30:15):
cool breakfast and which I don't normally do before I dig,
but uh, you know, we got the talk, got all
excited again, ate way too much lunch because we even't
had lunch and I don't usually eat lunch. He's either
I have a little snack in there somewhere. But yeah,
so yeah, I got about on my first on my
(30:36):
I've only done one attempt at this fishing thing locally
this year so far. I'll do more at other towns
and around me and stuff. But I got six hits.
I got six bites off of that one post, and
probably five of them seemed like they're really good, and
one is don't know yet, you know what I mean
(30:57):
as far as whether it's really good or not. We'll
find out all of them.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
That the way that I think about it, It's like putting
out if you've gone jug fishing for catfish. You know,
the more lines that you have out there, you know,
you may come home with nothing. You know, nobody may
reply to it, a catfish may not eat your line.
But you know what, the more lines that you have
out there, the more opportunities that there are out there.
And like you said, I mean, you had six six replies.
(31:23):
Five look good. That's pretty darn good odds. I mean,
that's that's what those are. Five I wasn't looking for exactly.
I didn't know about, you know what I mean. And
they're already pretty good, you know. Yeah, permissions really, you know,
and they're wanting us to come, you know what I mean, right,
it's not and they need to think.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
About it now.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Like they were so excited when we got out there
just to both permissions so happy to see. I mean,
they want to talk your ear off, you know, because
they've got the interest. They've got the bug already as well.
And even at that the first one went to in
the morning, the daughter who was she was an adult,
she wasn't a you know, a juvenile, but she had
her own metal tector and she she just didn't have
(32:02):
you know, the I don't know, the the guts, the
oof to get out. So we just kept encouraging, you know,
get that thing out, start to use it, start to
learn it, and you know, and do this with us. Yeah,
and uh, you know it's it's just a little hurdle
for her to get over and she's got the interest.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
So yeah, people though, really cool, really cool. The mom
was cool, the daughter was cool, the grant and granddaughter,
little ten year old Gal was good. It was cool good. Yeah.
So yeah, the first place we went to was a house.
It was a house that was built back in the
day and built back in the day, and they, uh,
they invited us out. It was actually the ladies mom's house.
And so we went out there and she's like, I
(32:37):
don't worry, she won't she won't mind. I'm like, no, no, wait,
we gotta make sure you talked to her first. Yeah.
So yeah, we went out there and it was fun
meeting them. Small place, right kind of a she said,
it's a small yard, and we were kind of checking
it out on Google street view and stuff kind of see.
But when we did that, what we started noticing that
(32:57):
all the other houses up and down the street from
that also were built in the same time, per the
same time, and we're like, well, look at that one.
We got to go knock on that door. We gotta
look at that one, right, So.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
As well as you know, the owner that has has
the permission that we're there on knows her neighbors, knows
across the street, knows what's going on. Oh, you should
go talk to this person. You know, they they've been
there for the longest, and I bet they would, they'd
let you on their proper you know that kind of thing.
And again it's the networking. You get one and then
when you door knock the next one. Hey, yeah, we
(33:29):
were just over at Mary's house three doors down and
it happened.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
It absolutely did, and it happened. Yeah, hey, go talk
to that person. I bet they'll let you use it
to your advantage. They sure did. Oh my gosh. Yeah,
So what do you want to talk about that?
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Like?
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Because I thought they each each place was unique and
had unique things to it. Yeah, the first one.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
So the first one, like you said, small house in
a neighborhood, you know, you expect you're pretty much looking
for coins, you know, in that type of situation, you
know you're targeting. The coins you're not gonna have, I mean,
you're gonna have relics, maybe some children's toys that are
older and those kind of different things. But you know,
it's a little bit different than what we would be
normally like targeting. You know, normally we're looking for old schoolhouses,
(34:12):
military sites, military camps, old homesteads that are in fields
that are no longer there, that kind of thing. There
was cross contamination because you know, people are still living
there right now in twenty twenty five, so you know,
you got to dig through the modern you got to find,
you know, try to get to the old stuff. So
you know, it's kind of bringing us back to just
door knocking houses and and uh, you know, we put
in a good couple hours there. I think we did
(34:33):
a pretty good job.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
I think we had started at nine and we had
our next appointment. The next place we were gonna go to
one in us there or said that she wasn't gonna
be there until about one, right, Yeah, we had we
had a few hours to get after it and then
maybe take a break, go out some watch or something,
and then get to the second spot.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
So yeah, and we found you know, there wasn't a
lot out in the back. You know, you figure a
lot of stuff will be up in the front, and
that definitely was was the case. We certainly found and
dug all the zincns we could find, all the.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Pieces of sighting that we could find, all the flashing yep, yep.
So found it.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
You know, I found two weedies from the forties, no silver. Yeah,
but just you know, your typical kind of like house
house permission.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah, typical loss permission. Great people, wonderful people.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Stayed with us the entire time. They were just as
excited as we were. Uh, and they had the added
experience of having a little ten year old girl follow
you everywhere you go, and so it when you go
in a group. There was three of us, right, there
was Tony, myself and our friend Michael, and we went
and we were hitting it. I don't know if we
(35:51):
drew straw I don't think we even drew straws or whatever,
but no, it was I got the permission. So I
sort of like was like, Okay, I did this actually
consciously on purpose. I made it. My mission is to
make that little girl have a good time, right, And
also I knew if I was doing that and taking
(36:12):
up her time. My buddies could go and just hit
it and completely be unimpeded by that. And I'm telling
whether you know that or not, but that is exactly
why I did what I did. She was great anyways.
She would yell and scream across the ard every little
thing I found.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
He found a nail.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
And she would take that nail and she'd go run
into her mom and her grandma and then she'd come
running back. And pretty soon I was letting her use
the pinpointer, but I didn't have it audible, had it
in my headphones. So I would tell her left, left, left, right, right, okay,
right there, and I'll push down, okay, right there, it's
right down there somewhere. And she would dig for it
and find this piece of sighting or something and she'd
(36:53):
be like, what is this. I oh, it's a piece
of flashing and flashing you know. Well I was on
this round circle thing. It was like a yeah, a
paint can or something. I go go tell your mom,
this is an Egyptian necklace. She goes run egypt nilarious,
absolutely hilarious.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Well, I will tell you though, she did learn one thing,
so obviously you know she's like ten years old pop cans,
aluminum cans, those different they've evolved over the years. Right,
one of the first targets I find, you know, I'm looking,
I'm digging kind of everything that's that's repeatable, and I
dig a just like a detective smile says, I dig
(37:31):
a pool tab. And she's like, what is that? What
is a pool tab? So we had to explain to
her what a pool tab was. Well, I took six
more in the backyard. I was where they were, they
were having a good time. I was in that area,
the good time area, right, and she and then after
the first one, she's running another pool tab she's yelling
pool tab pull tabs. So you know, hey, she she
(37:53):
did learn something about what a pool table was.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
At least she did, absolutely did. She was so excited
and that when I was giving her OPPORTU you need
to actually participate and being patient with all different kind
of yeah. The good Grandma was like, oh, you're being
so patient with it. That is so cool, you know,
And I go, well, you got a treasure on your
hunter on your hands right here, you know what I mean.
She's she's getting into it, man. And then I'd let
(38:15):
her like move the coil and I'd be like, okay,
right there, like ghost, you know, keep swinging, and then
you know, it's kind of helping her, having her help
me a lot that was in the back, and then
once we got in front, we kind of then just
kind of went after it. Yeah, but it kind of
gave you guys some time to kind of hit it
hard without having to spend that time, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Well, you knew you weren't going to be able to
go and find anything after the manicore.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Yeah, that's true. As soon as I saw you pull that,
I was like, oh man. And then I go hang
out with the ten year old and it wasn't as
fruitful as we had hoped.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
You know. We didn't find silver, we didn't find you know,
some you know, incredible or shattering relic type of thing.
But it was a good time, great people, great to me,
make contacts, talk talk history. And actually, but before we left,
I don't know if you had seen this, but the daughter,
not the middle daughter, she had said that she she
(39:09):
actually I had found this is what it was. I'd
found a rosetag. You know, we find rose tags all
the time. It sound they sound great. Aluminum and it's
got stamped into it the type of rose that was
planted there, and it said Bonanza. It was the first
target that I pulled out the front yard. She goes,
my horse was named Bonanza. I'm like, well, that's cool. Here,
this is yours. Then you know I need to take that.
(39:30):
So before we left, I had my my scrap bucket
still in the truck from when I was out at
that stagecoach stop a couple of weeks ago, eighteen seventies,
all day long, you know, no cross contamination kind of thing,
and I went I was putting my machine away, and
I was like, you know, when I get an old
horseshoe literally from the eighteenes found right out front of
the old stage coach stuff, I'm like, this is eighteen
(39:53):
seventies all day I'm.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Like, let me just go give it to her.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
So I walked over and gave it to her, and
she was like, you've got to be kidding me. And
I was like, I told a little bit of the
history of you know, stagecoach stop, and it's it's legit
eighteen steps. She's like, this was the best thing that
I have. It was absolutely amazing. So he was blown
away man. Oh my gosh. Yeah, it was a good time.
It was a really good time. Great to meet great people.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
You're a great find. Your your best find is probably
that dog tag.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Oh I forgot about that, Yeah, dog tag from the city,
nineteen fifty dog tag, but uh, you know it did
it said that, which which the coolest part. It said
the town right on the dog tag. You know it's
it's stamped. I don't know if it was aluminum or
brass or something a little bit of a harder. It
probably wasn't aluminum, but yeah, probably brass stamped with the town,
(40:41):
the date, you know that the license or dog tag
number for the dog. And I was like, yeash, you know,
you should be able to go and to look at
the town website. They might, you know, be able to
research somehow and find out that, you know, this was
Sparky's tag from a detail.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
You tell people here in Gotham.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Okay, yeah, spark Sparky the dog from Gotham City. But
you know, something like that's cool. And they were very
they were like, oh my gosh. Then I told the
little girl. I was like, you know what the best
thing about this dog tag is when I dug it up.
It wasn't attached to the dog, and then you just
saw it come over. She was like, yeah, that's probably
(41:22):
best he.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Didn't so but then they're like, hey, go over to
my neighbor be there and he had got large yea.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
They went over there and the door knocked for us
and said, hey, these guys are metal tecting.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Are you They want to do yours?
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Sure, go ahead. So we poked her on there for
a second. Didn't find anything over there.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
A lot more manicured over there a little bit, and uh,
I found a hose.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
You know what it was was Phil Phil was there
before we.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Were Yeah, major Phil, Major Phil.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
That Phil dirt, That Phil dirt guy was there.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
No more filled dirt. Come on people, sign the petition,
no more fill dirt. So Detective's mouses. If you see
bones stop, that's right. Unless you can't and they're in
the beaver trap. Oh yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
If they're still stuck on the trap, that's true.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
That's funny. That's Tony specially. So what was the second?
Speaker 2 (42:22):
We had lunch? Ate way too much at lunch, went
to a barbecue, play or barbecue. He was so good
local BBC meatloaf sandwich. Yeah, smoked meatloaf sandwich. It was delicious.
And the second permission definitely was the one that had
the most potential. Yeah, a lot more history on the
(42:45):
old super old maps, not a house in a neighborhood.
It was definitely a destination spot at one time.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Yeah. Yeah, I was out in the middle of nowhere.
It was a farm, currently a farm, and uh and
the farm owner was like, yeah, hey, come on out,
you know, like the same thing, and we have an
old detector. We haven't really ran out. We're always wondering
what was here. Here's the history we know of the place.
You know, they're saying train train tracks went right by,
(43:14):
there was this old station here, blah blah blah, a
lot of a lot of railroad activity and just you know,
I found tons of bottles here. I found a lot
of other artifacts. I'm gonna show you all the stuff
we found just poking around. And uh, yeah, we really.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
When they have a larger property, but they know their property.
I mean generally, you know, ranchers, homesteaders, they know pretty
much every square inch of their property for the most part. Yeah,
and she I mean really got me. She goes Okay,
so we've got our land goes all we see those
that gray house, it was so far.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
Away, a mile down the road. You have you have
my permission to go all the way down to there.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
That's all of our land. Yeah, well wait a minute,
you want to If you want to go down there,
you use my side by side by side.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
You guys want the four? The four, I said, go
and take it to tease her in. It just very
very hospitable. And the thought would think was she was
so cool. First of this showed us around the farm.
She has all these sort of cool animals as she raises,
and a couple of them I've never even seen before.
But but she also I don't know, would you call
(44:24):
her an artist. She had a creative side to her,
creative using relics. That was we were owing and on
the entire time during the tour, and she's like, I
knew you guys would dig this, and we're like, oh
my gosh. Like she would re use and repurpose everything
old car grill's, old doors that she would turn into
(44:47):
hanging tables and I mean so cool, so cool, like
round spickett knobs on old spickett that that she painted
different colors. She had all the different kinds of designs
she had up in the things. She had a big
American flag, would worked American flag with shotgun head stamps
as the stars for the American flag, just stuff like
(45:09):
that everywhere, Like we were just eyes were all over
the place.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
I found the Easter egg though in the in the
one I forgot what she had called it, but she
had used old tin as the like the inside roof
inside this this outbuilding and they had like a dining
room table inside it was kind of just a gathering place.
On the on the tin, it showed the maker's mark
(45:35):
and then the location of of where who made it.
And I'm looking at it and I said, hey, Ken,
look at this. This this is from Canton, Ohio, which
you know Ohio. Right, she goes, nobody has ever looked
at that before. She says, I put that right in
the middle of the ceiling and no one's ever noticed
that before.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
I was like, it's Ohio. Though it's Ohio.
Speaker 1 (45:57):
The relics are Yeah. She was so in press that
you saw that. But we were both like, going, is
that is that one of these things? And She's like,
oh my god, no one else knows it. Yeah, just
the old relic detail. You know, we're detail oriented looking
for old stuff and just pointing it out. And she's
she was amazed by our eyes as well. The most
(46:19):
amazing thing she showed us that day that blew my mind.
Tony's two is our metal detecting club in Denver has
a member there who has a ranch and it's got
a name to it, and the club and him go
(46:41):
way back. They have a huge relationship together and a
lot of times he invites the club out to the
ranch to hold hunts there, club hunts there, to have
functions out there because it's this big, beautiful ranch and
we've been going there for years now, so everyone in
the club knows that this name of this ranch. So
we're at this new permission just came off of Facebook fishing,
(47:03):
we got it. We're out there at this ranch and
she's showing us all this cool stuff. And she's even
like that building over here was on this place and
I had it all torn down. I brought it up
here and put it back up, just a real go getter.
And she's got this old outhouse, an out house, just
an outhold old outhouse, old one and it looks kind
(47:24):
of all rickety and stuff. And she goes, yeah, she goes,
that was on another ranch that I went and I
bought it and it was all in pieces, and I
came back and I put it all back together, and
above the door was a sign that had the name
of this ranch from our club. It was the club.
It was the ranch associated with our club that was
established in eighteen fifty two. And Tony and I looked
(47:46):
at that and we said, you gotta be kidding me,
and I gave her the name of the ranch owners.
She goes, that's who it was. Absolutely, that's who it was.
What a coincidence that is that found each other fishing
went out there did and they she happened to buy
that from people that we know, well you know what
I mean. And it was it was a working out house.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
It was not just it was not the look she
actually was using this out out Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
We opened the door and it was all fancy in there, man, Like.
She had all kinds of like knickknacks and like shells
with stuff on it, and you know, like the artwork
on the walls and just yeah, it was great, man. Yeah.
But she had paddocks, she had paddocks of animals. Yep,
And she's like, you're welcome to go anywhere you want.
(48:35):
Don't worry about it. I don't have any bulls out there.
Just you know, the donkeys will leave you alone. The
cows are cool, you know. And so we were just
our minds were spun, like where do we go first?
Speaker 2 (48:46):
You know, I mean right, and that's we know the
history is there. The history goes back you know, late
midsh late eighteen hundreds. We know the history is there,
but there's so much land to cover, you know, like
I said, that goes all the way down a mile
down the road. So you know, we kind of poked
(49:07):
around a little bit, found a lot of the modern
stuff and just really just tried to pinpoint, like, you know,
exclude certain areas. Okay, we're gonna mark that off list.
We're not going to go there. You know, maybe focus
on this kind of area. How does this relate to
you know, the original spots and and that kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (49:24):
So yeah, trying to figure out which way, where to go,
where to start, right, that was all part of it.
So we all kind of split in separate directions. We
should have took our walckey talkings about we didn't, so
we all split in kind of separate directions. We're kind
of within eyeshot of each other, but not always gear shot.
(49:46):
And yeah, we just I started I started finding all
kinds of hits, all kinds of things. But it seemed
like everything I was finding was like looked like what
was molten le but it was slag. It's like slag. Yeah,
I mean it looked almost like chunks of like rough
(50:07):
rough concrete heavy, but it was. But it was lighting
up my detector. Yeah, it was definitely lead. So I
was looking at so it wasn't a brick outhouse, Bill Hayes,
it was a lead outhouse.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
But you know, I was just like, why am I
find I found a little like Wrangler's button cap and
like a snap cap, and I just wasn't finding this
stuff that was too old. I was being a little
selective in this first run, you know what I mean.
Let me know in the chat, like when you get
on a new, brand new permission and you have vast
(50:45):
amount of area to cover, you're kind of doing a
usually I do a fast pass, kind of being very selective.
I want to dig just to see if I can
find something that's going to make me hunker down and
dig into it. And I got to say I didn't.
I did really find that aha moment that was crazy,
and I was I was staying in the same area
(51:06):
pretty much, but still wasn't you know. I was working
my way along the fence, kind of working down towards
the entry. And Tony was over in this paddock with
the cows because she was talking about these big impressions
and how they used it kind of as a as
a junk dump. And also she said all the bottles
that she's found are over there, and she from the
(51:27):
train pulled up they offloaded all this stuff. The ground
was covered in black. The dirt was it was from coal.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
It blew me away. I was so surprised, Like you know,
I understood, yeah, there's probably some some coal and stuff.
It was a solid two inches of coal before you
hit any brown dirt underneath it.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
Yeah, just from the years of the trains coming through
there and that black smoke pushing out that coal, those
coal embers and mending them, you know, offloading and loading
coal and now the train's there. Whatever it was, it
was everywhere. It was definitely everywhere. It looked like you're
on Black Sand Beach for those yeahs Black Sand Beaches.
But you know, Michael was off in a different direction
(52:09):
than Tony was, and we really didn't just come up
with anything, right. We found some interesting you found some
interesting iron objects. Yeah, I pulled a wheel hub.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
I think it was a wagon wheel hub, which was
cool because again that's you know, we know.
Speaker 1 (52:21):
The age is there.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
Got a couple railroad spikes, which I think are always cool.
And I did I did find I didn't show you,
but I did find an old head head stamp that
was towards the back of the property. So we know
the ages there. We just gotta find. There's just so
much ground to cover.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
Yeah, there's also new on top of old.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
You know, the area where the old is, there's some
you know, there's there's they're working that area, so you know,
we're gonna have to get through some of the new stuff.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
I think.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
But the ages on the side, the age is on
the site the traft.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
So I found some aerial photos that I think are
going to help us kind of figure out where we
should detect next on that property and check it out
where maybe older activity was that isn't as quite contaminated
with the new stuff. But we'll see, well, we'll see
how it goes. Yeah, yeah, I mean the railway has
been on the map. You know, it was on a
(53:22):
nineteen oh two map. I read all about the railway
Union Pacific when they establish it. They brought it through
in the eighteen seventies and eighteen eighties. Especially this line
was more around eighteen eighty and so it's been around.
It's definitely got the age it's been around.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
So detect dig Smile says lighter is good to look at. Also, absolutely,
it's another tool, another tool.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
That's right. We've done some good work with lighter, especially
some of the place that we've been hunting where we're like, well,
we see there's a structure out there, at least on
the topo maps. Let's check laidar and all of a sudden,
the foundation just pops out or the impressions pop right
out to you. So you're like, that's where we're going.
Speaker 2 (54:02):
Yeah, RelA jedis correct. I did find the twelfth Georgia.
If so, you can never never go wrong. It's it
is where it's at twelfth Georgia.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
Yeah, Oh, he's going to find the twelfth Georgia. So
I once found a sixteenth Georgia. I was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
That's rare.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
That's rare that very few knew that Georgia had a sixteenth.
But it was the sixteenth. Uh boy, So yeah, it
was fun. It was a fun day. We gave gave
it a good effort, but again not as fruitful as
we wanted. And us talking about these hunts really wasn't
about what we found, but what we discovered. And that's
(54:42):
the difference, right, what you find and what you discovered.
So what we discovered was an amazing land owner, an
amazing farmer who's just a go getter and does so
much work with this land, being a steward of this land,
and the animal she's raising is it's incredible. Matter of fact,
she she she had to have us wait till one
(55:04):
because she had to go deliver a bunch of donkeys
to about five towns over and so she was busy
with that. Just but just amazing. You know, that's where
we're We weren't done. We were kind of thinking that
maybe we started getting to where we're pretty much wiped
out and tired, and and uh, we see this vehicle
(55:24):
tear out of there, and we're like, you know, wave
to it. We don't know who it is, if it's
her husband or whatever. You know, we kind of wave
to it. Keep detecting, keep detecting, keep detecting, and uh,
we kind of start getting together. Well, guys, what do
you think you know we had it for today? Yeah,
maybe we should go. Here's what I found, Here's what
I found. You know how you do? And uh, trying
to figure it out. And and then Michael found a
(55:45):
bail seal. Found a bail seal out in the path
that looked pretty old and had raife on it. And
he goes, I'm gonna got knock on the door and
give this to her. And I said, yeah, that's a
great idea, And then kind of looked down on my
phone and I had a text from her about an
hour previously when that car took off, just said, Hey, guys,
I gotta go run here, I gotta go do this.
(56:06):
I gotta do this. Just make sure you shut the
gate when you leave, you know what I mean. So
like in a period of a number of hours, like
she's trusting us. She she's really digging what we're doing,
you know, And of course, you know, we we just
want to, you know, reciprocate that trust at all. So
you know, we were we were tickled to be out
(56:26):
on that property. I remember I stood and just didn't
detect for a while. Ye looked around and looked looked
around the neighboring farms and stuff. And there was a
guy out there on a four wheeler like herding his
cows or this four wheeler and stuff. Yeah, we're we're out.
We're out in the sticks.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
Definitely, definitely, which I tell you that I'm spoiled. Man.
That's that's the kind of detecting that I love. And
its honestly, it goes back to my first trip out
to Ohio when I was digging with Don from Detection
Connection and he says, you know there was a town
right where we are. You know, there was a schoolhouse
on this corner. You see that hill back there in
(57:04):
the field as a blacksmith shop across the field, you know,
across the road is where the house is. Like, and
I'm just sitting there and there's nothing but corn. And now, man,
that's where I want to dig. I want to dig
where people used to be and aren't anymore.
Speaker 1 (57:17):
Yeah, and just.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
Get into old life and I enjoy I enjoy that
the most, and I've been spoiled with that. But we're
out in the sticks on this on this property.
Speaker 1 (57:27):
Yeah, definitely were. And again we've got more trips there.
She's invited us back in time. Just let her know
and shut the gate. That's right, Just drop her, drop
her notice and be like, hey you we're thinking of
coming out. Absolutely, and and she's incredible she'd let us. Yeah, absolutely,
some more to come there. And we've got these other
ones too that I need to reach out to and
(57:48):
set up a date. Yeah, the other ones, I got
a schoolhouse on it. The other one has a part
of the original township right next to this old town
that's kind of pretty famous, being an old kind of
abandoning ghost down. She's right on a pre perimeter that
so she doesn't give me your address yet, so I
can't really do all the research i'd normally do, trying
(58:09):
to find overlays and stuff like that. But yep, still play,
plus our other stuff, all our other stuff too that
we had all the other permissions, you know. So it
should be fun, man, should be fun. Absolutely. It's not
about finding right, it's certainly not. It's not. It's not.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
You know, we we've we got with this the first
time out with Michael this year, you know, so we
got to catch up with our buddy. Then we're meeting
incredible owners. Yeah, you know, it's just getting out. It
was a gorgeous day. I'm sun I don't know if
you're My neck is scorched the back of the I am
a true redneck now already I got scorched.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
I didn't never forget the sunscreen.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
It was it was a beautiful day. So, you know,
not always about finding, but we definitely were out trying.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
The breakfast was cool because it was, like you said,
the first time you I and Michael got a chance
to catch up since like lack next year or whatever
last season. So we were just vomiting in the mouth,
like we're vomiting like the research we've been doing and
Tony's been doing I've been doing it. Michael, He's like,
oh my god, you guys have been up to so much.
You know, we're talking about you know, authors, we've been
(59:15):
out to meet because he wrote about this, you know,
Indian Wars and and and going here and meeting this
person and what this turned into. And then we went
and we did this and this, and he's like, oh
my god, I gotta tell you I'm on this site.
I'm trying to find out there's permission for you guys
to come on it. You know, just just going off
on each other. And it was really cool to catch
up like that. Yeah, I have that time to kind
of reconnect and realized what geeks we are together.
Speaker 2 (59:40):
I know, a bunch of bunch of bunch of nerds
sitting at this table.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
Yeah, sure that.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Well, I did want to mention here and I just
got this sent to me. This isn't Ken hasn't seen
this yet, but we've got a new hat coming out
here pretty soon. So if you need your ken Flix hats,
make sure that you reach out the Nick's custom laser
(01:00:07):
engraving at Nick HD and he just put that together.
How fast do you do that? You just did that, Nick,
so he can get it. Look at it's gonna go
on a hat just like this. Ken flicks. That's too
bid coming soon, that's too much. But Nick does all
of our hats, all of our Oh jeez, I got
(01:00:29):
I got stuff over here too.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
Look at this. I gotta.
Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
That's not gonna come up a little coaster. I had
my my whiskey on hats. Yeah, reach out to Nick.
He'll take care of you. He takes care of relicts.
Radio fifty eighty and Adventures in Dirt.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Get your Ken flicks hats right now, will while while
they last.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
That's too much man, pink nicka pink pink hat.
Speaker 2 (01:01:02):
A little blacker camo Ken.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
That's funny. So since we didn't find anything, we thought
it'd be fun to talk about what other people are finding.
Since we didn't find anything this weekend but had an
amazing time, so we did pull some things that we
saw people finding that it's pretty amazing. Yeah you're if
(01:01:27):
you're ready, Why don't we going to talk about the
one you picked out?
Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
Because I got it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
We could probably kill the rest of the show talking
just about that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
So this one's pretty crazy. So I was on Facebook
and I'm you can find me fifty two y ventures
on Facebook. I'm on Facebook quite a bit and I
reposted this over to my Facebook page because they were
asking for some help. They were looking for some helping,
says help finding descendants. So you guys gotta check this out.
Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
This is.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
A badge of some sort. Hopefully you can see this,
I'll kind of zoom in a little bit. Actually, I
want to say, first Bradley Wilson give credit over to
Bradley found this posted on Civil War on Earth. Now
look at this badge. Here, what we can read on
it is we're assuming a name here at the top JC. Shelby,
(01:02:20):
and then if you read down through the rest of this,
we're going to go company F the first n E
V Nevada vol Volunteer Cavalry. And then here at the
bottom says war eighteen sixty one to sixty five to
five sixty five. And this blew me away, Like you know,
(01:02:42):
he's looking help finding to sentence, I'm like, well, let
me get this out on my page as well and
see if anybody you know can do some research. I
know Ken Law's doing research on on on soldiers stuff
like that. Well, the first thing I thought of was
was my rough rider's badge, same idea. You know, it's
(01:03:05):
it's okay, this is incredible number one, but now let
me start doing the research on it. Like but you know,
to go back Civil War, holy crap, you know, And
I don't know enough about Civil War to know if
this was a commemorative type of badge. If this was
something that was issued. Maybe he was, you know, some
sort of an officer. I just don't know, but it
(01:03:28):
blew me away that someone was able.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
To save it. You know, it could have been a
you just don't know, like.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Yeah, a gar thing maybe or right, yeah, dropped in
for Gottence is such a cool save. I absolutely agree,
and that's the reason why I wanted to show it,
but also see if anybody could maybe go down what
we call the rabbit hole and start researching in a
little bit. So, uh, before we started the show, we went,
(01:03:57):
I went back to that image and Ken and I
were talking about it, and guess what, some people did
some work, did some research like we would have, which
was really cool. So here we go and we'll zoom
in on it. This was an attachment on a comment
(01:04:17):
on that particular picture. And if we start all the
way to the top John C. Shelby in the US
Headstone Applications for Military Veterans eighteen sixty one to nineteen
eighty five. So and when we read, you know, right
away you see already the top application for a headstone
(01:04:39):
excuse me, and the person that posted it has these
check marks going yeah, I'm pretty sure John C. Shelby
from Company F first Battalion, Nevada Cavalry. So, I mean,
it's checking all the boxes that this is probably this
person right here, and they were buried in Newburgh, Oregon.
(01:05:01):
And this is a request I think it's from gar
was requesting an application for a headstone for this particular soldier.
Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and this was made.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
I think the head the request was so I think
he was date of death I think is what this
says up here. February thirteenth, nineteen thirty two, and then
September thirtieth, nineteen thirty five was when they were requesting
the actual headstone. So and it shows shipped. It looks
like December seventh of thirty five. So successful in terms
of getting that headstone out to this person.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
But yeah, it looks like enlisted in eighteen sixty three
and discharged eighteen sixty six. There we go in Really,
Jedi said, what year did Nevada become a state? They
didn't become a state till eighteen sixty four, so maybe
you know, like why would it be the Nevada Cavalry
if they were in a state, right, But you know,
he enlisted in sixty three and then they sort of
(01:05:56):
you know, put him out in Nevada to kind of
know the whole, the whole came out here for the West,
you know what I mean, as part of the cavalry
out here in the West. And then maybe Nevada, uh
you know, from their militia that was out here in
the territory that was out here, maybe they you know, uh,
Mustard through this Nevada Volunteer Cavalry.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
So pretty incredible freaking find. Yeah, it would be great
to research. I mean, that's the kind of holes I
love to jump down, like, oh.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
My gosh, you know, yeah, I want to know who
their family was, and who their parents were, and what
their brothers and sisters are like, and where they lived,
where they grew up. Like I love figuring all that
stuff out. So yep, good job Bradley Wilson for finding it,
and good good, good job from everyone that is helping
them research that. Yeah, I'm sure I'm sure he'll find
(01:06:48):
surviving relatives. And if you're listening to show, Bradley and
you don't contact me that that's why specially. I love
doing that, finding surviving relatives that might love to have that. Yeah,
keep it with keeping in the family to which it belonged.
Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
Can you imagine if you're a great granddaughter or something
of that person, and right, you know, you know the
history of the family, but you know, you know that guy,
but you don't really have anything and all, yeah, he
shows up and says, hey, I have this, Oh my gosh,
knocked on my door and said they had something from
my great grandfather, a great grandfather from the Civil War.
(01:07:25):
I'd be like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
Right, Yeah, well I've done I've done my ancestry and
I found that my fourth grandfather was in the Civil War,
my seventh great grandfather was in the Revolutionary War. So
if you all find anything with friend jel on it,
you just let me know.
Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
I'd be willing to accept it. I tell you that. Yeah.
It's funny. It's great when you start redoing your research.
It's great what you can find because you know, oh yeah,
just just start doing it. You'll you'll blow yourself away.
And the stuff that that not only you can find,
but you'll discover other relatives that you don't even know yet,
that have already been out there doing the research.
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
Yeah, and order to connect with your family about Yeah,
so cool, pretty cool. So that's what I wanted to
share there. I thought it was pretty pretty cool to
share that with the group. I think everybody was saying,
you know, cool, fine, awesome relic, awesome information. Bill says
that awesome information there. Yeah, so yeah, good find Let's
(01:08:35):
see what I can do here? Which you got.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
Seeing this there?
Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
Wow, drum and Detect. First off, welcome into drum and Detect.
My one grandfather was a drummer boy in the war.
That was a very very prestigious position as well as
like the ones that carried the flags, very prestigious position.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
And he's a drummer. He's a little drumber boy. Yeah,
a little drummer boy. So I was on the Instagram.
Check this out. This is from Privy Digger on Instagram.
All these tokens. It's a Cooper Canning company tokens, tons
of them. Me see Here'd rumors that someone in the
(01:09:21):
hamlet next to mine had found a canning token while
gardening and went next door. Knocked in this early nineteen
hundred shingled Colonial and asked if I could detect the
yard quickly granted permission with two key bits confirmed tokens
were found many years in the yard and Thomas Cooper
did live in this hat very house, and my detector
(01:09:42):
confirmed that this was an active canning site for the
Cooper for Cooper and almost fifty canning tokens were covered
and loads of canning jar lids. Uh look at that, man,
Isn't that cool? I love finding the show before. I
love token, absolutely love it me too, And to find
so many like that and to be able to tie
(01:10:03):
the story together is really cool for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
So cool.
Speaker 1 (01:10:09):
Yeah, I was looking around. Also, I got you know
who I love on Instagram? And also YouTube is really
good too, is Let me show you this yere real
quick does a great job we've had on the show before.
This is Unearthed Arkansas. If you guys are not familiar
(01:10:31):
with them, you gotta go find him on Instagram, find
him on Facebook, find him on YouTube. Here's what I
like about him. And also there's a couple others out
there that do this too. They take really cool pictures
of their finds, right, kind of put some thought into it,
kind of put them together. So you found this little
hot spot of Civil War relics? Yes you did? Yeah
you did? I mean, look at that man, that would
(01:10:52):
be a home run of a hunt right there. Yeah,
but it just shows you know, you found a square
nail there. He found sort of the top of some cream,
you know what I mean. He puts it all in
the picture and uh yeah, makes it look good and stuff. Yeah, shares.
I love. I love pictures like that. Yeah, here's what
I wanted to show you. This is this comes from
(01:11:17):
a little while ago, eleven weeks ago. Actually, somebody may
have seen this. So Tony and I have hunted over
in England, and I know a lot of people here
in the States are like, you know, we don't only
care about England finds and stuff. But I think this
transition transcends the distance here you find it. I checked
this out. Can you imagine pulling back the dirt and
(01:11:39):
seeing something like this, especially if you're in England pulling
something like this up. Look at that thing. Look how
intricate and hand harbed and designed that is. That's a
medieval sword pommel.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
Yeah, Dave the Toe. Dave the Toe is the guy
that found it. He's a guy named Dave Coonliff Coonliff
over there in England. It's just amazing artifact. Man, it's
just absolutely crazy. He did he wouldn't be surprised if
it if would a be viewing and British Museum one day,
(01:12:15):
and I I absolutely agree. That is just an incredible piece.
So if you're in England and you're sort of you know, digging,
digging that coming up, you just know it's something special.
You're like, oh, is it? Is it? Viking? Is it?
You know what I mean? Like you just would be
blowing your mind. Look how intricate that thing is. Man,
(01:12:38):
that's incredible. It is so cool.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
He's put it on his gear shifter. You go there,
take that off and put that pommel on there. That's it,
Sussex searcher. Thanks for putting that out, Sharon, Dave's fine
with us.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
That's awesome. There's all kinds of cool. Check out this ring, Okay, no,
showing you some cool things that come across. This comes
from Midweek Searchers. How about that for a ring?
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Oh yes, I saw this. Yeah, unbelievable. What is the
age on that?
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
Seventeen It's got to be seventeen hundreds at least it
looks very seventeen hundreds for me, Like I'm an expert. Yes, yeah,
but here's what I liked about it. If you look
at his hashtags in there, he's got hashtag manticore, hashtag
dais ah what so what do you think he found
that with?
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
Well, which one's listed first?
Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
No, he had to get that way because it took
more letters to type that. He was exhausted by then,
so he had to type in the dais just four letters.
Look look at that hatching that hand. Believe it's this big,
bulky gold ring with this kind of stone in it.
(01:14:00):
I don't know what the stone is. It looks maybe
like ruby or garnet or something. But that is an amazing,
amazing ring. When I saw that, I was.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
Like, wowsh yeah. I mean not only not only gold, right,
I mean, you know, a gold ring is an incredible,
incredible find that we all wish we could, but it's
something with age that's gold even more incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
It looks like it has a name on the top too,
because that looks like a ladder, like an n or
something right there if you can see it, But I
bet it's inscribed. I'd love to see the rest of
the story on this thing.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
I would well, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
So cool, Matt. People find some cool things. What are
you guys finding out there in the chat? Let us
know what you guys are coming across. And here's another
one that takes great pictures. Matter of fact, he put
out a calendar a while ago, and I have it
around here somewhere you guys aren't familiar with. You're digging it,
Brian over there, Hey, you go check out, you're digging it.
(01:14:54):
Check this out, man, Like, isn't that just a pretty picture?
So this is eleven weeks ago, he gets, I only
got around to sorting through everything and putting together my
twenty twenty four wrap up picks was another good year
enjoying this incredible hobby. So this was just sort of
one picture that he put out. Another picture he put out,
(01:15:15):
Those are some cool buttons. Those some cool tags, dog tags,
dog tags.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 1 (01:15:21):
Look at that. A bunch of coins, one sent some nickels, pottery,
the square square crop. Just a great display, great display,
great pictures he takes. Yeah, like you could just stare
into this stuff and be like, oh, look at that.
I'll look at that, look at that. Yeah, he just
does a great job. Over there, somebody lost the marbles. Look,
(01:15:44):
he doesn't even ignore the and all the different stuff crosses.
Look at that. Just great stuff. So go and check
out you're digging a metal detecting on Instagram. You can
find them on YouTube, you can find them on Facebook.
You'll find images just like he just does a great job.
Was those rings? Yeah, signet rings, beautiful stuff, great job, Brian.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
Yeah, you were asking, uh in the chat here dirt Claude,
I found a nineteen twelve license plate today is pretty happy,
even though it's not in good condition. Now, that's that's
pretty old. Nineteen twelve. So yeah, yeah, that's pretty sweet, Patty.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
That is pretty old. Well, you had a family member.
We were digging on their property. Remember all those license plates.
Were they nineteen twenties license plates? No, they were nineteen twenties,
nineteen thirty thirties, they were thirties were they're the black
and yellow ones? Right?
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
So yeah, so I forgot about that. This is this
is I mean, we're talking you know, not not ten like,
we're talking hundreds of license plates. Hundreds. So the only
thing that we could deduce from it was we feel
that he worked somewhere where they were disposing of these plates.
(01:17:08):
He took them back to their homestead and he was
using them either on the roof as like tin roofing,
or on the sides of the building to you know,
to weather proof. And could you have imagined, let me
just say this, could you imagine pulling up on that
and seeing the green Colorado license plates over an entire
(01:17:29):
like roof, over the whole roof. That would be just
so so cool to be able to see. We had
found them all on the ground and they were still connected.
I think they were still connected to some wood maybe,
but I mean you're talking one hundred you couldn't, you know.
You find one, you're like, oh my gosh, this is
so cool, and like, yeah, hey look over here, there's
(01:17:51):
there's seventy more over here.
Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Oh I didn't realize that, so yeah, that was cool.
I'd forgotten about that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
Yeah. Uh, I couldn't believe they were just everywhere, Like
I'd dig through them on the ground and.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
You got real good identifying them before you dug them.
Speaker 1 (01:18:09):
Yeah, I was trying to find that. You guys are
talking about license plates. Some people know I sell an
eBay I'm an eBay seller, reseller flipping flipping things I
buy and I found h I was out an auction
one time, and I found a pair of license plates
centennial Colorado centennial plates, Okay, and yeah, nineteen seventy six.
Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
Seventy six. Yeah, those are the cool ones. They're like red, white,
and blue. Right, we've got blue. Yeah, yeah, they've got
the seventy six enlarged I think.
Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
Yep. The seventy six is in the middle, in the
middle kind of like in a funky nineteen seventies version
of seventy six. And this one had the number was K.
Then it has the seventy six symbol zero zero e
l N. Okay, k K zero e l N. And
(01:19:06):
the plate is a Ham operator plate.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
Really is that?
Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
Yeah? It's a Ham operator's license plate. And K zero
e l N was probably Ham Ham address right right,
Oh my gosh, it was really cool man, that's interesting.
Let me see interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Yeah, I was wondering did you have a picture of it?
Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
Can you see that?
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:19:36):
Yeah, so let me see. Yeah, see that Ham operator
right there? Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
Yeah? The the core see the tag uh.
Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
White tag says Colorado seventy six Ham operator number zero
zero zero eight six eight, So it was the hundred
and sixty eighth Ham operator. But the number K zero
e l n I'm thinking is is we're part of Yeah, yeah,
part of his Ham Moniker. Let me know those people
into Ham if I'm right on that? Or or what
(01:20:08):
the Ham operator license plate? It's eight hundred and sixty
eight number eight hundred and sixty eight. Trying to think
they're that many HAM operators to justify that many license
plate in the year of nineteen seventy six. But maybe
there was right.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
Who knows? I'm into Ham, but usually around Easter or Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
I'm definitely a Ham operator. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
I can operate that, operate the hack out of that
ham Man.
Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
It's the best. Oh man, must be get late started
at Loopy.
Speaker 2 (01:20:40):
DC Diggin, says Dug a miraculous medal eighteen thirty Virgin
Mary Pendon this week? What hello, Really, it's a great
dig that's incredible. Congrats on that. I'd love to be
able to see some pictures of that. Let us know
where we can maybe see that if you posted it somewhere?
Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
Yeah, what else are people finding out there? I missed
the chat. Oh here's when it came up. Let me
answer this. Oh God, good good.
Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
I was gonna say, Yancy Nancy M. Several years ago
I found a Captain Midnight Dakoder coin from a radio
show in the forties or fifties.
Speaker 1 (01:21:18):
Those are cool, very cool.
Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
I'm sure they're collective in terms of like collectibility for that.
You know, there's got to be a niche that people
just flip their minds out over those kind of things.
So you but also you know, just yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:21:32):
Well, Tony, you found uh when that lady came running
out thinking you had found a gold treasure chest, you
found a Davy Crockett belt buckle from like, yeah, it
was just a.
Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
Little little kid's Davy Crockett belt buckle. Yeah, I think
I still have that to be honest. I mean it's
all packed up right now. But uh, I think it
was in my display case just because it's it looks cool.
But yeah, yeah, pretty cool, right. Relic Jedi No found
(01:22:04):
a Native American nutting stone this past weekend while looking
for projectile points. What what's a nutting stone? I'm not
in the ways of the Native Americans, but do you
do you have a clue?
Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
Can a nutting stone? I think that is net where
they would sort of grind down like a grinding grinding tool,
like grinding nuts, like armins or stuff like that into
make it into flower power something like that. I think
it's the kind of stone that you hit your buddy
across the head with him like nut his head like
you're just like king, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
Check out the size of the nut on the back
of my head. Net, I just.
Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
Nutted me on the head. It could be, could be,
could be. Here. I got something for you. Okay, let
me find you find out where it's at. All right,
let me see how I can do this. Okay, m
share all right, Bill Hayes, this is for you. Oh.
(01:23:05):
Bill sent me a link said, here's what I found.
Check this out. So this is a spoon handle, some
button down here, and I don't know what this piece is.
What is this piece? Is the keyhole cover?
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Now? Is a calico keyhole cover?
Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
Maybe? Could be? Okay, we found this thing and check
this out. So that's kind of cool, right, But then
look it's got the stamp on. You should be able
to research that that stamp for sure? Good fine, Bill,
A little no.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
I can that stamp? It was eighteen twelve in England,
I remember, Yeah, is.
Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
That King Louis Louis Louie Louie. Oh, that's got a
little stamp on it too. Right there, He's got this one.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
That's great when you can find those love love finding
is that. Yeah, you go down that that rabbit hole
and then you start learning about that particular maker and
sometimes you know they only worked within like a two
year period. Yeah, you know need information to find you know.
Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
Relic Jedi is going back into old episodes of Relic Radio.
That's how you can tell. I really listened to the
show Relic Jedi. Uh no in k where you're able
to figure out an inn on that big ranches place
to detect And for those of you just tuning in
for that, Yeah, there's some large ranchers that have some
(01:24:27):
large properties up north of me that I'm trying to
get permission on and I don't have any real contact.
I kind of have their name, but short of me
driving up to their mansion and knocking on the door
uninvited through the security gates, I don't know. I'm trying
to find another avenue in there. And so no, I
have not pursued that very much. Really, I haven't had
(01:24:49):
the time to really pursue that much. But it's just
it's one of these goals and one of these you know,
projects that I'm putting myself on, always trying to matter fact,
matter of fact. When we go back to the farm
that we did hunt this weekend, I'm gonna ask.
Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
Her, Hey, do you know so absolutely these.
Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
Ranchers because they're everywhere, They're like the big ranching company. Uh,
And she.
Speaker 2 (01:25:17):
Would know I bet she knows them.
Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
She probab might know them, especially because she was talking
about this uh kind of wygu beef kind of conglomerate
that she belongs to, this collective to where if they
all sell it, they can all pull from the same
type of source and stuff. So there's a good chance
that she, uh, that she would know them. So that's yeah,
not that I haven't done anything about it, but that
(01:25:39):
is something that I kind of, uh kind of thought about.
Speaker 2 (01:25:45):
I saw a brush popper detecting one on my bucket
list I've never pulled. Got a three merry widows the
other day?
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
Is that your first one? Boy on my bucket list too?
Congrats definitely on my bucket list. Good job, man, good job,
And now you'll find them all the time hopefully. Yeah. Uh.
Here Rocky Mountain Life Prospecting, we take veterans out panning
(01:26:18):
mining and metal detecting. Disabled veterans can come on grounds
for circulating sleuth experience. Yes, absolutely, it's very great. Who
else did we have on there? Terry Shannon mm hm,
he had to detect for veterans detect for detectives. Yeah,
Garry Shannon came on and he does something like that
(01:26:40):
as well. It's so important, it's so important to you know,
give give our veterans opportunities to do stuff like that
if they if that's kind of what they're looking for,
if that's what they need, and you wish a lot
more people would do that. It takes a lot to
kind of put something like that out there. Have the
own resources yourself that you can help others. So I
(01:27:00):
commend you there, Rocky Mountain Life Prospecting. I think he
came to somewhere our hunts for a while there, Didny
some of our club club meetings?
Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
I think, yeah, stop by a meeting I remember right
here again, thanks for popping absolutely, Yeah, cool man, that's
what we talked to you. He's talking about the Oregon
Trail that runs through her property.
Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
I think she's on Oregon Trail property. So how you doing?
How you doing? How you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:27:34):
How you doing.
Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
I'll make sure we'll find you some proof. I'll look
for some proof. I'll even donate some time to find
you trail. We become immediate best friends. Brush Proper did
confirm it was his first one. Congrats to you.
Speaker 1 (01:27:54):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:27:55):
That is awesome, man, really really cool. Just you know,
it's just an interesting piece of history. And it seems
like if you know history or in detecting that kind
of thing, you say, three merry widows, they know exactly
what it is, but it would pass over everybody else's
head because they just would not have a clue what
it is. So that's why I like that. It's pretty
neat little show.
Speaker 1 (01:28:14):
Yeah, we're talking about that farmer lady this this weekend.
We read about some of the stuff you can find,
and I was like, they even find brothel tokens, and
she was just like, oh my gosh, that would be
the most amazing thing to find. And I'm like, isn't it, Like, yeah,
that just really would be just so amazing to find,
you know. Yeah, sometimes you know it's history, like even
(01:28:36):
pieces of the history that you know. It's always tough,
right because like something you can't ignore our history, our
history is our history. So even finding something like slave
tags right, right, you get people on two sides of
the fence on that, well, detectress would be like, oh
my gosh, yeah, wow, piece of the incredible piece of
our history, right, and others that aren't and they're like,
(01:28:58):
oh my gosh, why would you want that? You know
what I mean? But still for us in our group
and for everyone listening here, it would just be an
amazing As a matter of fact, you know, we need
to have there's a gal over there that we need
to have on from the East Coast. She's come across
quite a few of them, and I definitely want to
reach out to her and see what we get her
(01:29:19):
on the show. That'd be great. But yeah, that's what
we're doing. That's what That's what we got out and
did that one weekend and that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
Yeah. Lots of stuff coming up too, Lots of stuff
in the pipeline.
Speaker 1 (01:29:35):
Rest of the rocket, more detailed more. We have been
kind of out doing some networking.
Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
We have met some people at some different events that
we you know, we wouldn't normally have gone to and
done some networking and and you know, you're reaching on
on Facebook and I think we're starting to try to
expand and uh, you know, make make things work a
little bit better for us, you know, work smarter, not harder.
So a lot of good stuff coming up, a lot
of great opportunity that we just uh just not fell
(01:30:03):
in our laps, but you know, not not through the
normal networking.
Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
Yeah, you got to take advantage of those when you
have them, you know. But yeah, listen, if you guys
get out man, I hope you guys have a good time,
like go, you know, do your own research, get out
there on those properties, ask for those permissions, and you
know you'll be uh, you'll be knocking it, knocking it
out of the park soon, I'm sure you know. Tony
and I always love it when you when you share
(01:30:30):
stuff with us and let us know, like Bill, Bill
just sent me that link. I love that, Bill, Thank you,
uh that we could go check it out. Because we
look at that stuff, you know, as often as we
can across our feed you know, we carry our phones
with us a lot, so we can look at posts
and Instagram and stuff. We try to like stay on
topic on that stuff just because because we like seeing it.
(01:30:52):
We like seeing excitement on other people of their detectors
and what they're finding. But so keep digging it out there, man.
And uh, if you like in the show, if you
like in RELCTU radio, if you're a longtime listener, make
sure you tell people about it. We're always trying to
get new listeners in and you know, let them know
where they can find the show. Or almost coming up
on nine years in November, it'll be a ninth year
starting in November. Insane. Yeah, there's just a lot of shows.
(01:31:16):
You can go back and listen to a lot of shows,
and I encourage you to do that. You just go
through and search through all the shows and see if oh, man,
I didn't know they interviewed that guy or those people.
We have to do that sometimes too, because you forget
right them like, oh my god, did we Yeah, hey
we should them? So did we interview them yet? Oh
we did four times already. Okay, let's do the fifth.
You know absolutely. Joe said, grinding stone is for grinding caes.
(01:31:42):
There's different. They're different than a nutting stone. Mm.
Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
Yeah, I saw Tim had hit Tim had mentioned what
it was up. Let's see if I can find it
real quick. I know we're trying to get on out
of here. But nutting stones have a small indentation to
hold nuts, so you can crack them open without rolling
all over the place and smashing your fingers. Ah, they
were pretty smart back then.
Speaker 1 (01:32:04):
Yeah they were. They were hard.
Speaker 2 (01:32:06):
Just smashing my fingers with this rock here.
Speaker 1 (01:32:10):
Yeah, a lot of people. I think you fall into
that trap right when you think of native or ancient cultures.
You think somehow they aren't as evolved as we are today.
But man, they were. They had it all going It's
just just as you know, if not more than what
we got going on. For sure, they had it all
figured out. It was a way of life, you know.
I think they were more connected in their life and
(01:32:32):
their surroundings. But yeah, it all figured out. So let's
get out of here. Man. Thanks for you know, joining
me tonight, Tony and chatting about our weekend and what's
going on with us and what else you got going on.
At the Gumball Machine. You can find it with the
(01:32:59):
Gumbum Machine. Our solo that we whiskey is affecting your voice, dude,
I think you're drinking too much of it. But uh,
(01:33:20):
I don't have a little fancy toy machine. So that's hilarious.
Listen everyone, thanks for joining us another Wednesday I here
on Relics Radio. We always appreciate you guys in the chat.
We appreciate all you guys are sending me a message
on the audio replay. Thank you so much for hanging
in with us over there too. I know it's been
a big change since we've come over here on video.

(01:33:45):
So we'll continue to try to upload the audio shows
for you as soon as we can after every show.

exciting guest.
Speaker 1 (01:34:16):
Until then, get out and dig it all.
