Speaker 1 (00:00):
Plamp. Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Hey everyone, Wednesday night DK Harrison Adventures in Dirt Man.
I am so glad to be here with you all tonight.
Looking forward to Wednesday. We always do when we have
a show, we always look forward to it. We weren't
on last week, so we were itching to get on
this week.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Let me bring Tony in. Hello, Hello, Hello, good morning sir.
How are things good? They're great. I love what you
were saying there, just itching to get on effect, Like,
you know, we don't have any I'll just I'll just
go to spill the beans right now. There's no format

(00:36):
to tonight whatsoever. And we were still late because we
were just talking about a whole bunch of stuff. Yeah,
just anxious, just anxious to get out here, talk with everybody, talk,
talk with each other, and uh, you know, just get
it all out there. I mean, we've got a ton
of people here already and I'm just I'm so anxious
to Uh. We do have a couple of things that
we wrote down that we wanted to kind of touch on,

(00:58):
but sure, overall it's kind of you know, off the cuff,
you know, well, have a good time.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, Yeah, we're gonna talk about mathematics. And uh, you
know favorite cooking additives that enhance flavor.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Oh I did. I did a I don't think I
told you. I had all the family over a couple
of weekends ago for football. Yeah, did a hold pulled
pork sliders. But I used I used some liquid smoke
in it.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
It was that changes like a homemade barbecue sauce with
Oh it was phenomenal. It sounds awesome. Yeah, So that's
my contribution for you know, cooking additives. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Everyone everyone knows I like to cook, and I've I've
been cooking for a long time, really, you know, love it.
And uh, I just I've never invested in stainless steel cookware.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah I saw that. Yeah, I just never had.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
And I've been talking to my wife about, like, you
know what, like why haven't I boughten any purchased anybody
this time in my life, you know what I mean. Like,
I guess I'd always been intimidated by it. So I
am went out and I got a fry pan, like
a big twelve inch fry pan, just to try it out,
to see how I liked it and stuff, and yeah,
there you go, I'm gonna be getting me a set
here pretty soon. You know, it's different. You gotta gotta

(02:20):
treat it differently. I've got cast iron and all that stuff,
and that's fine. Just for some reason, stainless always threw
me off.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
But yeah, I never had I never did well with stainless.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, yeah, it worked out great. Like I did some
chicken pacata in it, you know, And you know, had
had this typical thing at the end of the night.
You got kind of this pan with all these bits
and pieces on stuck to the bottom of it and stuff,
and yeah, you just deglaze it and it's good to go.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
So well, we're in the new house now, and this
is the first time I've ever had a gas stove.
Oh that's different. Oh my gosh, it's totally different. But
I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying it. Yeah yeah, Teresa. Teresa said,
yum me now she's hungry.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, me too, Man, I haven't had dinner yet. No,
I didn't have lunch to day either. I just grabbed
some grapes paris and so to hold me over through
this epic evening. We've got planned ahead of us.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, who's joining us? We have?

Speaker 2 (03:25):
I saw a lot of people coming in there's a
lot of comments flying.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, there's already. Yeah, we've already got a whole bunch
of people in. We got mister Bill Hayes. He says,
how do y'all? Hello? Bill? Yeah, I was, uh, had
a post on Facebook earlier in the week and Bill
made a comment that was about to get me in trouble.
Bill's no, Bill knows what he's talking. What I'm talking
about here about to get me in trouble. And I'm

(03:48):
just going to leave it at that. So I got
mister ill Digger. Tim says, Hey, yeah, let's talk.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, what's the time, it's time to get.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Ill you go? Bob Rose, good evening, fellow dirt Diggers.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Hey, Bob, good to see it.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Brush Propper Detecting.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Excellent, Brush Popper good, thanks for joining us.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah. I wanted to mention if you guys are on
Facebook and you're following any social media in regards to
metal Detecting, you guys are following like the Garrett Metal
Detectors Facebook page, and I don't know if it's just me,
I think it might be ads, but uh, mister brush
Popper Detecting is on this ad that just comes through

(04:38):
NonStop on my Facebook feed. Incredible return and Garrett's got
a big, big to do about it, and so congrats
to Brush Popper and if you cant, yeah, look out
for it on Facebook. That's uh, that's Brush Popper's face
on on that ad there.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
So and that's awesome, man, because return stories are some
of my favorite.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
It was great. Yep, great return story. Yep. Thanks. So
who else joined us? Yeah, mister Robert Thompson. How's it
going there? How about beneath the Bluegrass? Good evening? What welcome? Welcome, Welcome,

(05:22):
mister Detective SD. I've been talking to Jason a lot
this week. I've been coming up. Yeah, I can't. I
can't disclose too much right now, but some stuff in
the works there, so uh, working with him on some things,
so uh, stay tuned for that in the future. Here
coming up, some good fun stuff, got cha cool? How
about Jack Jack Filmy Jr. Welcome on, Jack, Hey Jack,

(05:46):
how are you man? Welcome?

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Welcome to Relics Radio.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, thanks for coming on with us. We got relic
Jedi already mentioned Teresa. How about this guy? He's been
sending some cool stuff our way. I know he has.
He's been messaging me and sending me some fun stuff.
I'm sure you as well.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
We missed him and we had Grayson On. I know, Joe,
we were waiting for you to pop in there, man,
because we were talking about your passion. We were talking
about the If you guys missed it, man, check out
our last show. If you happen to miss it, you
want to learn all about Here's the thing. You not
only want to learn about fur trade, copper culture. You
will you go back and listen to that show, yep.

(06:27):
But even more importantly to me, man, what you're going
to learn about is just how some of these young
people can be so smart, intelligent and passionate about what
they're doing. It was really really refreshing to to get
Grayson On in here to hear his passion about what

(06:48):
he does and why he does it.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Yeah, just really hit his mindset and direction from a
younger person. And you talk about inspiring Grayson Ramer real
big on TikTok Instagram. But yeah, to go back and
check the last episode two weeks ago. Grayson Ramer, if
you guys are interested in that copper culture for trade

(07:13):
and he we went over some incredible fines.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
We did, but just hearing how the younger generation. Ye,
well some of them, right, we all know, but some
of them, like like Grayson, what they're doing. You know,
he's in school for archaeology.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
So there you go. He's That's what we say, was
the combining the combining line that we're walking on the
metal detecting community side is is the involvement in cooperation
with archaeologists. Well he's actually on both sides of it.
So interesting to hear from his side and his take
on how the two sides of us can work together
and actually do what we both have passion for and
understand each other as well.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, definitely go check that one out.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I was a good episode that episode. Nick from Thin
Blue Diggers on with us tonight. Up Nick, bump bump, bump,
bump bump. Right, look at that's the hat as well.
I've got a sweatstain going on. Look at that. I'm
gonna have to get some new ones from him.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Then they're done. That got the hat, East Idaho Digger Welcome,
Welcome to digging and mister Scott saying hell there, Scott.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Good to see you. Everyone's coming in tonight. Stuff off,
what do you want to talk about?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Well, they must think we have a lot to share tonight,
so we better get get jump into Hey, check this
out digging the past with Ossio.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
There you go. Good day, y'all. Hey, welcome, welcome. That
was my best Aussy North show.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Relic from Ma from ma oh he's with ma, Hey
say hi to pa oh hey Ma, but welcome, welcome
North Shore. Uh we should kick it off the big announcement. Okay,
this is not real that yeah is real?

Speaker 1 (09:04):
This okay, I've been working on working on my office here.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
It looks great man.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, thank you look much. I got to start comment.
There is that something you want to touch on now
or later.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Or not? Yeah, I don't know. Uh, let me see. Yeah,
I guess, I guess we can comment.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
It's been out there in the in the in the community. Yep,
I know.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I shocked to see comments about that.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Uh yeah. So you know, it's always terrible and kind
of we lose one of our own when we have
somebody in the community pass, especially somebody.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
That may have been well known like on social media.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
And uh, you know I I uh I knew uh
I knew I knew Greg.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Pretty well.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
I mean he not only just through the whole YouTube thing,
and sharing of his videos on a weekly dirt series.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
But he, uh, he.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Called me a lot personally because we were both Kelly co.
What were they calling what they call their program they
had representatives or yeah or uh, you know, they didn't
call it influencers.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
It's a name.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I forget the name.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Anyways, we were both involved with Kelly.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Co and they were supporting him really big, and we
would talk. We talked back and forth about that program.
It was like a commission based sales program. We talked
back and forth about it, and just a wonderful, wonderful,
wonderful man like And we had him on here. We've

(11:01):
had him on here before and I think we were
talking at that point about one of his favorite finds.
And I'll never forget what he said. You know, we're
sitting here waiting for.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
A gold coin, you know, eight reality, We're waiting for
whatever he said, And he actually said that.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
It was a.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Actually said this baby kitten he found out in the
middle of the woods. He said it. He saw it.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
There was no mama cat around. It was just he
just was it was out of nowhere. And I'll never
forget it. Man, I gotta go back and watch that episode. Yeah,
because he said he brought it home. It was damn
it was. It was near death and he he brought
home and he kind of convalesced and kind of got
it back into health. And it's now his cat, you

(11:51):
know what I mean. And it's now grown up, and
it's like, yeah, he is every time he looks at
that cat, it's like this big, lovable cat. And he
he found it in the woods on detecting. You know,
I thought that was that was cool that that was
one of his favorite finds.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
You know, yeah, absolutely, And it was just quite a
shock to the entire community on social media and everything,
and and uh, you know, there's there's a lot of
a lot of questions still out there, things that don't
necessarily have to be answered or anything like that. But uh,
you know, the one thing that I do really like
about our community is is everybody feeling a sense of

(12:29):
camaraderie and feeling close to each other because we're out
here on social media putting ourselves out there, and you
get to learn each other, You get to talk to
each other a message like Greg's calling you and and
you know we're messaging with with Loy, you know, I mean,
we've lost some some incredible people here, not you know,
recently and stuff. And you know, you may have never
met some of these people ever in your life physically,

(12:52):
but I tell you what, man, the hole that's left
is difficult to to just gus and talk about when
when those people happen to just go, you know, and
it's yeah, it is difficult for sure. Yep. He was
very positive, Jason, for sure.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
He was.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
He was a great guy man. He was always positive.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
You know, even when he was like having some kind
of issue with you know, the Kellico program and stuff,
he call me up and like we com.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Miserate about it. But he always had a positive spin
on it. Man.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
He always had a positive spin on it where he
was like, yeah, yeah, but his whole thing was yeah,
but yeah, but you know Ken this and that and
this and that, and I'd be like, yeah, you know what, Greg,
You're right, you know, and just his smile and his
laugh like yeah. I didn't know him personally, like I
never met him. I'd never been out it, you know.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
But I would have loved to.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
That was one of the guys I always wish I
got to I got to to meet, Like Lloy there's
a bunch of them, you know, and very but very
shocking to the community and stuff. And I know, you know,
it's always hard thing, right, It's always a hard thing
to know what to do when you hear news like that,
Like you know, part of you wants to kind of be,

(14:08):
you know, commiserating with everyone else because when it hits
social media, it kind of catches like wildfire and everyone
starts talking about it. It's hard to keep stuff like
that under under wraps, you know what I mean, And
it and so we when when it comes out, you
just gotta you just got to talk about it with
your friends and other people that knew him, and we

(14:30):
can all celebrate the fact that we knew him as
we knew him. Some people only knew him from watching
his videos, and that's great. I can tell you that
what he put out there was exactly who he was,
at least off camera from what I know of him.
And yeah, it was just it was definitely a shock
to see that he had passed. But it could happen

(14:50):
to any of us, right, I know. I mean tomorrow
you could be coming on going, oh God, Ken can ask.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Or the other way around anybody, man, you know what
I mean? Or any anyone you'd never know.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
You know.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
The thing that I really do like, though, is that
we can actually go back because everything's been documented. And
I know that might be a reason why some of
us document on social media YouTube, Instagram, whatever as a
secondary reason. But you can go back and now and
just go through all of his videos, watch them over
and over. We live it over and over and be
there with them again, and it's fantam. Those are always

(15:24):
going to be out there. And that's something that I think,
you know, I know I've done since since the news
have come out. I've gone back and watched things and
thought about it and stuff like that. So you know,
I I do like that. It's pretty amazing that we've
had We do have that ability. Yeah, yep, So we were.

(15:45):
I'm just sitting here looking around. We were on season four,
episode sixteen. There you go.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Greg Pickens was on Relics Radio and you can go
back here and check that out.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Was that on uh? Was that spreaker? Was that on YouTube?

Speaker 2 (16:01):
That was on Spreaker only? I believe I don't think
we were on YouTube by then.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, I don't think so. Yeah, but it was. It
was a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun
having him on.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
I was trying to see I've been looking at other
stuff from him. Whose was this with? You know, he
was also on season two, episode twenty four, so he
was on real early with Tennessee Jeff and Loy. Yeah,
and also audio only, So just search Greg Pickens Relict
ready you'll be able to find that and encourage you
to go listen to some of those interviews we did.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Those those old episodes with Lloy and Jeff are just
a riot. I mean I want to go back and
listen to that one with Greig as well, because I
bet it's just an absolute blast. Those Yeah, those two
guys are are such a great, you know, great time.
And then have Greg on too would be incredible. So
I'm gonna go back and listen to that one. Yeah,
it should be fun.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Prayer to his family absolutely absolutely, yep. Thanks for for
all the kind words that we we've put out there
for him tonight. And that wasn't something we were actually
even planning on doing. It's kind of came up in
the chat, so yeah, but I felt that we should
touch on it. Sure, so sure it's.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
On everyone's mind, so we should made me You may
as well, talk about it's on our minds, you know,
we talked about it. But yeah, we'll have a lot
to look at from him too. His videos were awesome.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Man.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
He's always had like little interludes as to what the
button manufacturer was and where they were from and how
many their history and all that stuff you do, little
history clips. It reminded me of lay in that in
that in that regard, you know what I mean, Yeah,
little little history clips.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
But absolutely all right, m hmmmmm, brother, what's that that's
off to your brother up there for sure? Yeah, all right.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
What about you? And I got out not too long ago.
Let me know in the chat what you guys have
been up to. I saw that Bill Hayes posted he
had recently went out allons, and let's know what you've
been finding. Let's last time you went out, everyone in
the chat, last time you went out? What did you find?

Speaker 1 (18:16):
There? You go?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Yeah, there we go.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
That's that's the easy one for me, because we went out, uh,
not last weekend, but not this past weekend, but the
weekend before that we went out. Yep. So yeah, it
had been been a little bit of time. But I'll
start out the story because I know that you're a
humble kind of guy. I've been around you long enough
to know this. I'm gonna set the stage for you here.

(18:41):
So we have a private permission, and the private permission
landowner has what hundreds, if not maybe thousands of acres
in this area. Yeah, and we've identified five sites on
his land. We've only been able to get on three

(19:03):
of them.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yeah, three of them. The other have the cows around him.
You go, stay out of my cows.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
The other field is this old timer says that you
ain't going over there. That's where the cows are. I'm
not letting you over there.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
I stay out of my cows.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
So we went back to this spot. Now, the first
time we went to this spot and we were looking
for we found the spot our primary spot. Pretty quickly
we knew that where it was. It lines up on
the map. Fantastic spot. Right, Ken pulls this button that
is not associated with the spot at all, but is
in a crazy crazy button do you call what that?

(19:41):
What that button was called?

Speaker 2 (19:43):
There was a staff officer's eagle button, one of the
raised ones, it's really raised.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
It was a staff officer staff officer's button. So there's
no history, no maps, no stories of anything military related
to this site. So then you start asking the story. Okay,
well how did he get there? Was it? You know,
this this officer that went to this site, to this school,
this this social gathering area, Like, so, what's the story

(20:10):
of this incredible button? I mean, just pulls this button out.
It's top notch, it's you know, top notch. Just love it.
We end up leaving and uh, you know, find of
the day for sure, bloom blew me away. I was like,
what is doing here? It's it's an incredible button.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Yeah, it'd be like, you know, yeah, just the site
was not meant to have that there.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
No, not at all. So we decided to go back
up to the area and we went back up to
that same site again, and you know, you're finding nails,
you're finding shotgun shells, uh you know, modern bullets, shellcasings
with kind of different things. And Ken pulls two incredible
relics out of the ground here. Why don't you tell

(20:56):
everybody about those?

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Well, I will preface by saying I'll preface it first
by saying, if you haven't heard us talk about on
this show here, you know Tony and I don't hunt
hunt parks so we don't go after coins.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
We don't.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
You do usually do a lot of door knocking old houses.
So we don't go after coins. We're after relics. And
the relic sites we hunt don't have coins.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
They were poor, Yeah, they were the pioneers out settling
the west and in the in the plains of Colorado,
and not a lot of money, not a lot a
lot of money.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yeah, and if you if you dropped, you've you found
it because.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
It is important and stuff.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
And so whenever we find a coin, you know, like
I know, we've told the story, like I found a
gold coin in one of these property, one of these
relic type properties, you know, complete fluke, complete craziness. So yeah,
so we were we were detecting up there at this
spot for the second time, and yeah, I pulled back
the dirt and there was a ground coin.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
I get this. I get because you couldn't hear me.
Why couldn't hear Why couldn't you hear me? Oh? The
wind like sustained for I'm glad I brought my headphones
because you wouldn't have been able to hear your machine
without them.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
It was it was blowing, yeah, like blowing us off
our feet blowing.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I get the big O sign. Who You're like, what
is that he's throwing? The chat me he's throwing? He's
probably a coin something around right, Yeah?

Speaker 2 (22:32):
And I look down at it, so I what did
I do? I think I pulled it out from just
out from where it was buried and dropped it onto
the next dirt clod. But with my eyes I usually
have to switch between this and some other glasses that
I usually wear to see close up versus far away,
because I don't like bifocals. And Tony comes up, He's like,

(22:55):
what is it? And I'm serious, I'm like, I have
no idea, Like, I know, I didn't see an Indian,
but it did have a lot of dirt on it.
And even though the uh, the soil here in Colorado
is so gentle on all sort of coins and relics
unless you have fertilization in the ground, it whatever it was,
it looked to be in pretty good shape. And so

(23:15):
I think I let you look at it, right, didn't
I let you grab it feel what it was?

Speaker 1 (23:19):
And didn't. And I could kind of tell, I mean,
like you said, it was in great shape. The relief
looks fantastic. Yeah, and it turns out to be, uh,
a ve nickel for you.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Yeah, so nineteen oh two ve nickel, which I've never found.
I never found a v nickel, never found a wild one.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Yep, no, not in the wild.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
I've been next to a buddy that found like six
shield nickels.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
But not me. We don't hunt with that guy anymore.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
And again, you know a lot of people out there
are listening, are going, yeah, ve nickels. So I find
them all the time, and you know what a big deal.
I'm just telling you. We don't find coins. We just
don't find coins. So when a coin pops up, it's
about as exciting as we can get for us unless
civilware buttons starts showing you go, button start showing up
and hire.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
The denominations of any coins are going to be more
the most difficult to find out here. So if we
do find coins, they're going to be you know, wheat
pennies generally wheat pennies. Yeah. But to find a nickel
or dime, you know, quarter and on the way up, yeah, yeah,
very rare for us. Yeah. Bill just asked, was it
red as russ can? Right?

Speaker 2 (24:28):
And you know what Bill was absolutely was not meta.
I'm gonna try to pull up a picture here and
show everybody, but I have a picture of it, I
think of, okay, yeah, I have to see maybe I
could pull it off my Facebook page or something. But
you know, Bill, that brings up a great point because
kind of in my in my head, that kind of
went through my head too, right. I pay attention to

(24:51):
social media, probably way too much, and I know that's
a fault of mine. But you know, there's a Facebook
group out there talking about fake fines, and they kind
of like always see things on the Internet that they
think are fake, and they.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
Post it and everyone comments on it. There you go,
there you go.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
You know, those people would probably say that that was
fake because it wasn't red as rust the soil here
you can see that soil. Look how sandy that soil is.
It absolutely protects all coins and relics just incredibly. So,
I mean, that's not in the greatest shape. Like I've
tried to clean it a little bit now that it's

(25:32):
in my possession and just kind of brushed it off,
and whatever's on the upper edge of that still is all.
It's not going anywhere. It's not going anywhere soon. But
my first vehicle nineteen oh two. You know, this site
we were at probably was it was on the nineteen
hundred map, so people probably moved there in the eighteen eighties,

(25:53):
eighteen nineties, early nineteen hundreds maybe, so it fit the
time period of the place we were at, which we
always love. If we can find things, Yep, we can
find things. But yeah, I mean people people don't believe
nickels because that's always the giveaway, right when somebody's.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Like, it is the nickel.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Look at this nickel I found six inches down and
that was about eight inches down. I'm not kidding you
at all. Tony saw the hole it was down there. Yeah,
but a lot of people say, you know, oh, those
nickels are the giveaway when they're faked.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
That's straight up. Yeah. How it came out of the
drastic Yeah. But so yeah, great job on that, very
you know, huge congrats. I was so excited for you. You know, again,
you didn't know what it was until I told you.
I could have told you it was a twenty twelve
nickel and grabbed it from you. Yeah. Yeah, digger, says

(26:52):
I dug An eighteen ninety nine v Nickel in Idaho
and it was red as red. I've seen it. I've
seen it most of the time. I read as yeah,
those the ones he finds a red as well. Yep,
that soil man, it just does something to Joe buff Nicol. Yep.
So we're just, yeah, we're real lucky, we're real blessed
with this next picture I've got.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Hey, I understand that too, Guys, I understand. I absolutely understand,
because when I saw it and then he told me
what it was, I was like, Oh, that's gonna end
up on that fake that fake Facebook pase because it
looks like some of the other ones that they had
claimed had been faked. But look at this, it's coming
out just like that, you know.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Matter of fact, the picture you showed me laying down
was me taking a picture of it after I was
going to.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Show that one too. You know, when your buddy finds
a venicle, he's laying on the ground. Look how bundled
up you are, number one, but number two, you're laying down,
you're taking pictures. I mean, I had to get a
picture of you doing that. I really enjoyed that because
you were so excited and I was so happy for
you to find that knock that off the bucket list.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Well, to be honest with you, it had been a
long time since I had found something good. It really had,
I mean good where I was like, wow, that's a
that's a that's a great find for the places we're at,
you know it. Just see, it had been so long
I found that button, that egle button, that staff officer's button. Yeah, yeah,
that was an amazing fine. But basically since then, I've

(28:19):
been skunked. Man, I've been getting skunked and skunked and skunked.
And it gets like that and you don't let it
bother you. But after a while you're like, man, am
I losing my touch? You know what I mean, I'm not.
I'm not hearing things right, Like what you know, you
just got to get your coil over it.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Yep. And I was gonna say, you'll see here in
the next picture, on the next thing that you found,
just how sandy the soil is. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah, So it was probably I don't know. I kept
swinging and I was thinking, wow, that's about the only
point out here. Well you see that too, and you're like, well,
you know there's got to be silver here then, right,
there's got to be silver here. If that's there, so
now and what does to do is it brings your
energy level up, because this was like we'd been battling
the wind all day. We're like looking at each other like, man,

(29:05):
maybe that egle button that we found here was the
only thing. That's what you found. You found a cool lock. Man,
that lock was really cool. We have found other cool
things there, cool, but nothing that really kind of like wow,
that's pretty. That's really cool because we didn't expect to
find it. But when you find something like that, it
energizes you because now we're like, yeah, there's got a

(29:27):
complete reset.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Your whole mindset changes and yeah, and it's like restarting
the day. You know how you're optimistic when you get
out of the truck and everything and like, oh this
wind is bad. But man, you know ooh that's the
first good sound I heard. Ooh you know that's that's
really tight. Oh you know, all those different things, and
when you find something that just completely reset you after
a couple hours of just getting beaten on by the
wind and really not finding anything substantial. Yeah, so I.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Go swinging about maybe ten feet away, I get another
signal and I'm like and there's a lot of iron there.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
It was a lot of iron.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
So you're picking through these irons and I get this
repeating signal, but it's got iron on each side of it,
and I was just like, man, I don't know, it's
gonna trick me again or whatever.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
So I go down after it.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
I pull the dirt back and I see another coin,
another something round and this time I pulled it out
and looked at it and saw the Indian head. Okay,
now this is another first for me. Not it's not
my first Indian headpenny, of course, but it is the
only India headpenny I have ever found that was into

(30:33):
the eighteen hundreds. All my Indian headpennies have been nineteen
hundreds plus. So when I saw it, I wasn't sure
the date, and so I started yelling to him, ihp, ihp,
and yeah, I started looking at it and saw the

(30:54):
date was in the eighteen hundreds. I didn't see it
was eighteen eighty nine, but it was definitely eighteen hundreds.
So I was like, man, yeah, that's a first. It's
definitely a first for me.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
So great. I mean that's just out in the field,
you know, you rubbed it off a little bit. But yeah,
look at I mean, look how sandy that soil is,
which is great to dig in. I won't argue with that.
I love to dig in the sand, the sandy soil,
you know, not sand of a beach, but you know

(31:25):
this sandy soil, and it treats the rugs fantastic. The
lock that I pulled out, the iron hook or whatever
you know, uh what you even call that was completely
rusted off, but the brass part, I mean you wiped
it off and it was it's near perfect. I had
I have it over on on on a display over here,
and uh yeah, just like the day that they dropped it,

(31:50):
there's no other damage on it. It's it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Yeah, And I mean you look sandy, so it's not
you know, it's not. It's so great to dig in,
but it's not. It doesn't destroy, it doesn't destroy, like,
it doesn't fall apart.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Like.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
It's still very very dense, you know what I mean.
So you're still taking out shovelfuls to get down to it.
And again this thing was about eight inches down. It
was deeper than about pinpoint deep. But uh yeah, it
was crazy man.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, we gotta find relic Jedi twenty five cents for
the D word.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
I agree, relic JETI I agree. Man, I was like
looking at that thing, it was like you even working,
because man, it had been a while since I found
something really cool. And two bucket lists in one day, right,
that's got that That just pumps you up big time,
it does. Yeah, v Nickel for the first time, and
then an eighteen hundred IHP.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Probably enough to motivate me to go back out to
that site again because you start to question it. You
know you're not gonna find you haven't found anything really substantial,
you know, I mean, we found some pretty cool things,
but now, I mean we've got an incredible button, two coins,
a nice lock. It's got to be more there, It's
got to be more. Absolutely, there's just so much iron
And you know, I know that everybody that's listening religiously

(33:09):
with us always hears it. But we dig iron sights.
Those are the sites that we hit, these old homesteads
that there's nothing there anymore. It's just the Colorado Prairie
and you're out looking at a map dot on a
nineteen hundred hand drawn map and you're like, well, I'll
be in the area. You know, you're listening for the
iron patch, you're listening for the iron sights, and then

(33:30):
from there it's just slogo, you know, coil real low
and you're just trying to listen for a little squeak
on it, just something to poke through the iron and
I you know what you're you're you're killing that site.
To be honest with you, you found three incredible objects.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
So yeah, eighty two, thanks man. Eighty two on the
dais too, you know. And I've got this. I've got this.
I call it the X ray program. And every cool
thing I have found in iron infested sites, I've been
using that darn program. I know, and I know this,
and it's just yeah, you do all the time, use

(34:11):
that X ray program.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
I'm like, yeah, I was.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
So there's there's two programs that make you switch back
and forth between. There's sort of a very on off program.
I have single tone on off either it's there, it's
not there, and and then uh, and so I kind
of can take a look at actually I think it's
a two tone because I actually have iron iron down
on it. But then but I'll hear something and it'll

(34:38):
be like I can't quite pinpoint, I can't quite see
if that's, you know, iron, a big piece of iron,
or something that's gonna trick me, and I'll switch over
to the x ray program. So if I'm an open
field not a lot of iron, I switch that really
basic on off program and then ye easy to listen to.
And then when I hit high iron patches, put that

(34:59):
U sorry program on and it just helps me and
then I know what to listen to for that. Now
I'm learning what to listen to with that program because
it'll still give me a little iron grunts, but they're
different iron grunts than really iron, you know what I mean,
real iron. It's hard to explain. It's got to kind
of hear it. But yeah, it's working out well, man,

(35:21):
it's really working out.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
So if you guys are swinging the days too, reach
out to Ken. He'll probably tell you what the settings are.
And I'm telling you a first hand. I can tell
you know he's gonna be the modest again, but yeah,
he really. If you can learn this, it is incredible
for picking through the iron, and you've really come up
with some fantastic item items by using this program. And seriously,

(35:45):
every time you do something like that. It's the first question,
are you using the X RAYG I'm in trouble now.
I better hunker down a little bit harder because I
know you can start picking stuff out.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
You don't have to worry about that. That manicore has
been kicking my ass plenty. So I'm so happy to
have a good day, and I'm like, man, I'm glad this.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
I'm glad.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
I start questioning yourself, like, man, do I even know
this machine anymore? But yeah, I mean I don't recommend
that program for anything other than just super high iron.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
I'm talking type iron. That's how it is. These sites
just like that. It's nails and nails everywhere. Yeah, I
wanted to mention Tim had posted he went out tonight.
We had asked everybody to post what they found. He says.
His last signal was a piece of thin silver with
three holes in it and a bunch of hand etching
around the edges. Looks way too old for this area.

(36:35):
So I'm interested to see what that is. Tim. If
you get that cleaned up or identified, let us know,
because it sounds very interesting but could be pretty pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Yeah, sounds really cool. I'd be interested to hear what
that what that turns out to be. Yeah, I always
love to find so we don't know what they are.
You know, those are the best, those are the best,
the best. You have some friends of ours been tearing
it up this last week in England. I don't know
if you've seen all that.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
But I I so, I'm extremely I'll just say I'm
extremely happy for them. I'm very had. They've been killing
it over there. And and you and I have gone
on this the same trip over to Colchester with this group,
and and I tell you we we had a great time.
In fact, I've got a this bottom case right here

(37:28):
are just my best finds from England. Yeah, and I
found my oldest hammered you know those kinds of different
you can find all that kind of stuff. Right. So
we've been in this located area, yep. And they've been
out there for it's usually what eight days they're digging.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
These guys are on my first trip there. All these
guys are the same guys are on my first trip there.
And they talked to me about where they found it.
And I've been there, I've been on that field. They
were explaining to me what field it was on. I
was like, oh, my gosh, you kidding me? Just just
some amazing As a matter of fact, Hey, you know what,
We're gonna actually have them on. We're going to bring

(38:06):
them on to talk about some of these amazing discoveries.
We're really trying to get them on next week as
a matter of fact, So you want to tune in
next Wednesday to hear some excitement about finding some amazingly
old relics over in England and some of the stories
they got up to over there. Just a great group

(38:28):
of guys, So can't wait to have them on.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
So I was doing some research on the on the
items that they had found, and I came across the
web page that all of the all of the finds,
not all the fines, but the significant finds are posted
on this specific website. And I started looking at the
fines again. I cannot believe how much history is continuously

(38:53):
coming up out of the ground over and over and
doesn't seem to be stopping. And in fact, I mean
just from this past hunt, it got better then then
I've seen recently as well.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
So I got I got a friend of mine on
Facebook and he reached out to me recently a big
shout out to Dave Secrest, Dave, thanks for contacting me.
And we were talking about England and we were talking about,
you know, ways he could get over there and stuff
like that, and I was giving him some some tips
and some information and I sent him that site that

(39:28):
you're talking about. To this day, it is the most exciting, amazing,
almost unbelievable site I've ever been to in regards to
metal detecting finds, at least over in England. It's it's
a museum on your on your web page. It's a

(39:49):
it's all the stuff that has been found over the
years on this specific tour, specific tour that they've been
running numerous times a year of bringing people over and
it's all sorted. But you could sort it by you
can sort it by metal type, you can sort it

(40:09):
by age, period of age, you can sort it by
all these different things, and it's unbelievable. It's unbelievable the
amount of stuff that they find over there. And they're
just like, how can they continue continue continue for years
and years and years and years and years to find
so much stuff? And it's just it's the farmers. It's

(40:33):
the farmers it is, and the permissions he has over there.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
But it's pretty incredible for sure. And yeah, something that
I know you and I both talk about monthly, if
not weak about when we're getting back over there, because
it's it's pretty incredible. Yeah, north Shore Relics said how
long to get items back from England? So the process

(40:58):
of of of everything over there is you find it,
you have to report it to the to the flow officer,
the f was it finds liaison officer. Yeah, I believe,
and they submitted to the museum if it's considered treasure,
and if not, then you have to apply for an
export license and get it all sent over. Tim had

(41:19):
replied two or three months, but I've heard of being quicker.
I know when you and I were over there last,
it took a pretty good amount of time. It was
not two to three months. I think we're right around
eight or nine months, but of course that was a
couple of years ago.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, with the and with the group we went with
the tour. The tour we went to it usually is
you know the way that guy runs it is he
runs it to where you leave everything there and he
documents everything for the export license. Of course, anything that's
classified as treasure you turn in anything you turn into
the Treasure Act to the Antiquity Scheme and they put

(41:53):
it through its paces because there's certain things you have
to declare us treasure. Anything over three hundred years old
that's not a coin but it's made out of precious
metal has got to be turned into the Treasure Act
because of the Treasure Act. But the all the other
stuff you find is documented for an export license. It
gets sent into the flow. They review everything, make sure

(42:14):
everything's good, good to go, and then you'll get that back.
Usually what he does is he says, hey, he has
so many repeat people that come in like you and
I are going to probably go back that. He says, Look,
do you want me to ship it to you or
do you want me to just hang on to it
and give it to you the next time you're here,

(42:34):
because then you'll have the export license and you could
take it back with you and your luggage. So we've voted,
we've we've opted to have him send it to us.

Speaker 1 (42:44):
And we know when we're going to get back there next.
You know, wanted to get our fines because we're so anxious.
But yeah, if you if you know that you're going
every fall or every spring you'll get ready for you
to take back.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
And what's cool is when it shows up, he's got
the export license in there, and he's got paper that
identifies everything you found. So it's not like you just
get a bunch of junk back and you're like, in
this license. He's got grid paper where he's like taking
pictures and he's put them all out on this grid paper.
He's identified them, giving you kind of a year range

(43:16):
and describing what it is. And sometimes you'll you'll get
stuff back and you'll be like, what I didn't know
that's what I had?

Speaker 1 (43:25):
I had that I had? I had a copper is
it jetting? Jet is what it's called a copper jetting?
You know what year it was? Thirteen hundreds He identified
I mean identified it with so then you know you
go and search for it, right, you know it's it's
Louis something or other. You look at the son of

(43:45):
a gun. Out of all of these hammering coins for
thousands of years, they know exactly which one it is.
This was just a copper. Yeah, it was super super
think copper. It was almost like the the copper wrapper
on like a cigar. It was real, real, super super thin.
I mean you you could bend it and break it,

(44:05):
that's how thin it was. Yeah, and uh, yeah, sure enough,
thirteen hundreds. I was like, I had no clue. I
was all excited about a fifteen hundreds hammered silver, but
let alone, I got thirteen hundreds in there too. I
had no clue. Man, Oh my gosh. So yeah, and
Bill had asked if that was the Colchester area. Yeah, yeah,

(44:27):
that is the oldest settlement in England. Yeah, so yep. Opportunity,
a lot of opportunity there.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
And then again that tour group that goes over there. Yes,
so much property, so many, so many properties that he
has the arrangements with the landowners. And if you go
to that website, we'll talk about it next week. We'll
give you the We'll give you the website next week,
and uh believe me, if you tune in next.

Speaker 1 (44:55):
Week, Nope, I lost you. We lost DK. He's experiencing
some technical difficulties here, let's see, trying to get back on.
I will mention il digger. We're talking about not knowing
what you had in your fines. I had a groady

(45:16):
Roman bronze mixed in with my greenies. I didn't know
it until I got my export back. That's gonna happen. Sometimes,
I tell you it's uh, you know, we just don't
have very much not necessarily experience, but but understanding and
education about you know, all of these different coins that
have stretched over thousands of years, or or relics or

(45:39):
things like that, and you know, you pick it up
and you don't throw anything away over there. I mean this,
I know Ken will tell the story of having a
sword pommel in a junk bag or in a trash
bag because nobody knew what it was until the liaison
it comes over and looks that it thumbs through everything
and goes, oh my, do you know what this is like?

(46:00):
It's a piece of trash, is what it is. No,
this is you know, a sword pommel from you know,
this type of dagger that was used who knows when,
and you know, a thousand years ago, twelve hundred and
fifteen hundred years ago, and you have no idea. So yeah,
just an absolute experience. You know, Tim's been over there.

(46:23):
I know Theresa hadn't mentioned that she had been there
five times. So it kind of becomes addicting for sure.
You know, once you go, you really it's it's tough
to come back to the United States and dig those
eighteen hundreds, you know, like the past. Ossi Okie says,

(46:44):
you know, we're excited to find mid eighteen hundreds here.
It's the same thing here in Colorado. So I've talked
with Nick here thin Blue Diggers, who trying to urge
him to get out there because I think he'll really
enjoy his England experience. But he says, I one hundred
percent want to go. I'll sell everything, everything to go.

(47:05):
It is an experience not only just for the fines,
the camaraderie. You know, we went with eleven other guys
or ten other guys with Ken and I and still
a text message with those guys years later when they
find something, when I find something, trying to have them
on the podcast, and you know, all those kind of

(47:25):
different things. You just you establish some more camaraderie with
those guys that you normally wouldn't be digging with. If
you know you've got it. One guy in Utah, one
guy in Missouri, one guy in in uh, you know, Virginia.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
Welcome back, sir, Thanks can you hear me? Yeah, young,
everything just shut down, man. Mike disconnected camera disconnected, what's
going on.

Speaker 1 (47:48):
We're happy to have you back. I was just talking
about not only just the finds an opportunity to be
over there in the history, but the camaraderie of the
people that you dig with, you know that you normally
wouldn't get to dig with. And it's kind of fun
because when I went, it was like, you know, connecting
flights and things, and all of a sudden you're just
picking up people. And then you're on the flight over,
you know, across the pond, and you all get the

(48:09):
London at the same time, and you know, you're all
trying to get into the van together because you know,
this guy arrives fifty fifteen minutes early before you, this
guy's thirty minutes after you, and then all of a
sudden you're all together and it's just like, all right,
you know, we've got we've got a week plus of
just doing what we all love and are passionate about.
So it's it's worth the money. Like Teresa says, it's

(48:33):
really worth the money. It is if you believe in
the experience and you love history it I would agree.
I think it's worth the money.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
It's expensive.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
It takes the money to get there, but yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:45):
You ever get the opportunity to do it, and now
there's there's you know, there's more and more tours available
I know of. Yeah, I think I turned Dave onto
four different tours I know about, But all I can
personally comment on is the ones I've been. You have
been through Colchester and but no. Plenty of people in
my club that have gone through others and they kind

(49:06):
of tell me their experiences and stuff and it all
sounds great, you know, So I can't wait to get back,
Like we really got to put that together. So other
relic adventures, Brian, he was talking earlier about he's he's
he's getting ready to go. So I hope that you
have a good time, and we definitely want to hear

(49:28):
all about it. He's gonna say he's planning to go
next year and he can't wait. So if that's your
first trip, Brian, good luck man, keep us in the
loop on it.

Speaker 1 (49:36):
We want to hear all about it. So absolutely, while
we're talking about that, you know, across to the east there,
Tim just mentioned Davis in Germany right now, So that's
always a great time for for you and I. When
when Dave's over there because we've come back and he's
got stories. We get him on and he finds some

(49:58):
incredible stuff over there.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
For sure, that guy too, Dave's got he's the most
amazing in home museum of finds. Someday we should just
have him on to have him give us a little tour.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
Tour have his house. We'll get where we get a
mobile camera or some people handheld camera and he could
just walk through and dictating their rate to us.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
We need to do that because it's you know, he's like, yeah,
this is look at these. These are all my collections
of spear tips from like five point fifty BC to uh,
you know, to three hundred a D. It's like, holy
cow man, Brian went snow, if I have the h
F two coil, I don't. I don't, Brian, I've got

(50:43):
I haven't gotten it yet. One I don't. To me,
it would only be a sniper coil. That's what I
would use it for. I wouldn't use it other than that,
you know what I mean, I don't now. Actually this
is very topical, so thanks for bringing that up. Uh
coming up here in the future episode we're going to

(51:03):
be talk about uh nugget nugget shooting metal detecting for
gold nuggets in nugget tailing piles. We have a guy
here in Colorado who's a specialist in there. We have
a lot of gold barying areas here in Colorado. Gold
is big here and there are gold tailing piles everywhere.
And we have a guy in the club that's going
to come on with us and give us tips and

(51:24):
tricks about getting permission to detect tailing piles and also
some tips and tricks on what to do what not
to do, And we're going to talk about that HF
two coil for that purpose definitely is a specially going.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
To going to Alaska next year. She might be interested
in that, or uh maybe some future upcoming PI machines
that we know are in the works, and oh yeah,
yeah yeah, oh yeah yeah. So yeah, if you guys
are interested in that kind of stuff, you should have
some experts on that can help us with that, right right.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Uh so maybe someday, Brian, someday, I'll definitely I want
to get that coil, but it's not real high on
my priority list right now. I know a lot of
people in my club are itching to get it too, and.

Speaker 1 (52:17):
I think you just need to wait. I'm fine with
you waiting to get it. It's great in the thickest
of irons. Yeah, you know what, Yeah, well maybe I
will go get it. Yeah, uh huh, twenty thirty would
be fine. You know, I'd be good with that. Yeah,

(52:38):
that's funny. Hey you see the uh do you? If
you do? You have the document out?

Speaker 3 (52:47):
I do, Yeah, somewhere check that out. Okay, just okay,
excellent if you want too. Yeah, Tony and I share
a docks page where we kind of.

Speaker 2 (52:59):
Type stuff to each other throughout the throughout the show
and uh he just there, you're a dork. I don't
know where that came from. Thanks buddy, old letters.

Speaker 1 (53:11):
No, it makes it easier than being the third the
third base uh you know, third base coach.

Speaker 2 (53:16):
As to what we're going to talk about later, right, bunt, bunt,
that's right. Yeah, here's something pretty topical, I know.

Speaker 1 (53:30):
Look at that. Look at that three mentions. MindLab just
released the gold Monster two thousand. What is that that is?
Oh my gosh, look at that thing. Thanks for that
segue there, Teresa, We'll check you.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
Thank you one hundred and fifty dollars for every seg issued, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
We want to talk real quick about the gold Monster
two thousand. This was to me, it was not on
my radar, popped up there pretty quick and kind of uh,
you know, there was wasn't much leaked about it or
anything like that. I just kind of saw it on
social media and then all of a sudden, it's available.
If you got two grands sitting around.

Speaker 2 (54:13):
Yeah, interesting, Yeah, I look that thing. That's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
Yeah, I don't know much about it. I don't know
much about it.

Speaker 1 (54:22):
Yeah, we were gonna let's let's go down the one
thing that if it is a VL so yeah, what
I really really wanted to pull talk about where the
where the tech technical specifications of it. So operating frequency,
I mean this is twelve to seventy six on multi frequency,

(54:44):
so yeah, very tiny stuff. It's look yep, yeah, does
not have wireless auto, which I think the one thousand
does not either, so they're sticking with that. Let's see internals.

(55:05):
I guess it can look here. Huh. No depth indicator,
no iron bias, target a D zero to ninety nine.
So there's your VLF and then real time visual gauge
for enhanced target probability indicating gold or hot rocks. That's interesting, Yeah,
kind of interesting. Look at this thing right here, two

(55:28):
point seventy five pounds they're just getting, including the battery,
including the battery, they're just getting lighter. Guys, They're crazy.
That is crazy, crazy stuff.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
They're getting right back. You know, they're working the way
backwards to dowsing rods. Pretty soon, they'll just beds within
the heads up display on your glasses that get shows
inside your glasses.

Speaker 1 (55:54):
That's right, Oh jeez.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
And there's an idea.

Speaker 1 (55:58):
No uh, no key backlight, no flashlight, no vibration, very
basic operation, which is fine to your warranty. You get
the standard five inch round double decoil. So it's it's
really like just a small, tiny sniper coil, is what
it looks like.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
Yeah, you know, five little puck little uh yeah, a
little gold seeking puck.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
Yeah. So I'm interested to see. Uh you know, we
we do know one person, one contact of ours that
has experience with us already, and uh, we'll be hopefully
trying to have trying to have on yeah, trying to
talk a little more about the effects on it. Where
where where you would really want to use this and

(56:45):
uh yeah, so a couple of really good episodes about
about some gold coming up. If you guys are interested
in that, I know I've got a lot of good
friends that do a lot of gold stuff, so I'm
sure they'll be interested in these kind of things.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
Yeah, and anytime a new machine comes out, we definitely
want to talk about it. As a matter of fact, we
still want to have we still need to get you know,
the folks from from Knocked on with us. We need
to get Debbie back on. We definitely want to talk
to them about all the new machines coming out. You
and I talked about it here just a few shows ago,
but you know that was our speculation and our take

(57:20):
on stuff. With these new machines coming.

Speaker 1 (57:22):
Out, it's always fair to get.

Speaker 2 (57:24):
The manufacturers on, you know, to talk about their machines,
and they're always welcome because it impacts us as a community.
You know, I'm we're not we're not too partial. You
all know what we swing, you know, but we're not.
We're not impartial as far as the information we share here. Absolutely,
I did see check this out. I did see this, Brian.

(57:48):
So other Relictive Ventures will have xpon in November talking
about a new product. So I saw the last time
they were on a show and did a great job
with them. Good job and looking forward to that.

Speaker 1 (58:00):
Everyone.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
Head on over to souther Relic Adventure and check out
his upcoming schedule, you know, or just tune into him
in November.

Speaker 1 (58:11):
Yeah cool, I don't want to.

Speaker 2 (58:14):
Quickly. I wanted to take this one real quick. Dave
Crookshanks wants to know local field just broke ground for
a shopping center. Gosh, don't you love it? Don't you
love it? Just cover up all that dirt with concrete?
How best you approach the site prep crew for permission? Yeah,
so I'm in construction.

Speaker 1 (58:33):
It's just.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
And I've done it quite a number of times. The
best way to do it would be to it depends,
So it depends on what stage it's in. Okay, So
if they're just people out there tilling the ground, leveling
the ground site crew there. If it's just workers in
the field with like heavy equipment and you don't see
a trailer set up, you're gonna have to find out

(58:58):
kind of who the foreman is there. And of course
they won't let you on site when heavy equipment's operating,
but you'll have to get permission to allow you to
come after hours sometime. When you go to ask the permission,
make sure you're wearing work boots, make sure you grab
a hard hat and an orange high visibility safety vest
and approach them that way because then they'll sort of

(59:20):
accept you as this guy's in construction approaching us here
and he's safe. We don't have to kind of shoe
him out of here. If there's a trailer, even if
it's that stage, but now there's a trailer, you definitely
want to try to find when there's cars in front
of the trailer and walk in and ask to talk
to the project manager or the site superintendent.

Speaker 1 (59:43):
And just stoun with them. Just call Ken, just put
them on the phone. Just give me that guy's number.
Can project manager, that's your middle name.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
But yeah, so all you want to do is you
kind of just want to explain them what you're doing
and make sure you go in there also with personal
protection equipment on so he sees you're serious about safety,
because that's all they're gonna be worried about. They're just
like a home owner. They're gonna be like, what.

Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Kind of liability here? Now?

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
If you get a good one, they're gonna be like,
oh cool, like I wonder what you could find, you know,
and you just assure them you're only coming, you know,
early hours before they get gone or late hours after
they're done, so you're not around the heavy equipment. But
if you know, if they've already leveled the site and
they're kind of just getting ready to do the next step,

(01:00:30):
then of course they'll probably let you in there anytime,
you know what I mean and h but just explain
that to them. So you're getting ready to raise some
history here and you just want to you just want
to go after it. Now, what you got to be
here's the thing you gotta be careful about. You got
to make sure you don't talk to them in such
a way that they think you're going to find a
dinosaur bone and shut their entire project down, or that

(01:00:53):
you're gonna find the holy Grail of mas Athemia and
that you're gonna shut their whole project down. You gotta,
you know, try to let them know kind of what
the kind of things, and how geeky you are about it,
and how what you're looking for. And most people don't
think it's cool, but you think it's cool. And this
is a unique opportunity before it's gone forever. Make them
feel it, Make them feel what you feel, and they

(01:01:16):
will they will respond for sure. But just stay safe.
Make sure they know you're serious about being safe. That's
the number one thing, because if I'm on a site
like that, I'm like, who's this bozo coming.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Up to me?

Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Why isn't he in proper you know, safety attire. You're
already a hazard walking up here to me. And then
what do you want to do? Okay, well, you're gonna
get hurt if you do that. You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
You're already coming up here off to a wrong start.
You're wearing flip flops and you know, sure, no shirt
advisor on. Yeah, probably not the best.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Smoking a cigarette. You're like, hey, man, what's up?

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
Drunk? Yeah, you'll do fine, man, stay stay in touch.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
With me and uh and let me know, let me
know you know how that works out for you.

Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
Yeah, But they're all worried.

Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
They're worried about like, oh, if I let this guy on,
is he gonna find something that's going to shut that
brings the archaeologists in, you know what I mean? So
gotta be careful with that. Dave's like no flip flops.

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Check. Okay, hold on, I'm writing this down. Good lucky
with flocks carrying a beer. That's it. You might make
some friends, but I doubt you're going to get permission
to do any metal detecting.

Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
And be prepared for things to change. I know, on
construction sites, things things change up. Tony and I had
are great permission one time. It was this old old house,
this old mill site used to be an old mill
site prior to nineteen hundred. This beautiful old house had
this great sort of outhouse like this privy in the back,

(01:02:50):
and we were we had just gotten started, we hadn't
been detecting too long, and so we were really excited.
And they were building a residential kind of apartment complex,
and the trailer for the construction project was right in
front of this house. So if you went behind the trailer,
there was nothing except for this house and its properties.

Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Old house. It was so cool.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
Went in, talked to the project manager. He's this young guy,
and man, he was all about it. He was just like, man,
that is so cool. Let me know what you you know,
let me know what you find, and of course you
have to offer that too. Him like Hey, I'll show
you everything I find. Blah blah blah. He's like, that's
so cool. Yeah, man, anytime you know, And I said, look,
we won't go on the job site. We'll just come here,

(01:03:33):
drive to the park where the trailer's at, we'll get out,
we'll walk right in there and maybe we'll pull up
into the to the place next to the house. He
was one hundred percent all about it right now. How
many times do we go there? But there a couple
of times, you and I, Yeah, just a couple found
tax first time I found a tax token, Colorado tax token.
You found this cool stove piece. We kept talking about

(01:03:53):
getting into that privy and yeah, we remember we walked
down inside the house and like instead of instead of wallpaper,
they had an old newspaper, newspaper and we saw some
nineteen oh six little leagues and we thought, oh, it
wouldn't it be cool to grab that off the wall
and go find some of these people that were on
that little league team or something, you know, or the

(01:04:14):
family of the little team. Yeah. So one day I'm
getting off work and Tony lives much further south than me,
and this was up north near me, and I thought, well,
I'm just gonna go hit this place for a little bit.
I had a few hours to kill, so I go
over there and like looked for the guy, didn't really
see him. So I pulled up in my spot where
I parked and got out and got my machine. I'm

(01:04:36):
getting my knee pads on all the stuff, and this
lady walks out and she's.

Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
Like, what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
And I'm like, oh man, hey, yeah, this is getting
ready to do some detecting. I was talking with Chuck
and uh and and you know, Chuck gave a permission
to come here, you know, no problem, no problem and stuff.
She's like, Chuck doesn't work here anymore. I'm the new
project manager and you can't be here. And we're like,
come on, like what are you gonna do because we
even asked again, what are you going to do with
this old home because it was on the site logistics

(01:05:04):
and he goes, we're leveling it as soon as we're
done with the project. That's the last thing we do
before we leave, is we level that before they do
some landscaping there and kind of just erase it. And
I'm like, dude, you gotta let us in there. And
he's like, yeah, no problem, and then she comes out
and just takes it away from us like that, bang.
What can you do? What can you do?

Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
But yep, and if you ever find you make sure
you let them know.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
That that's right. See this is this is your grandma's broach.

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
Man, grandma's broach right there.

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
Yeah, yeah, how about this?

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
What do you guys else do this?

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
Look at that man, gold.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Over four thousand up in the last year to date
and in just the year to date, not even one year,
but just the year to date.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Now, you and I talk about the fact that we
don't hit parks much anymore, right, and we have everyone
in our club probably I would say ninety to ninety
five percent of our club are park hunters, and they
they crush it in the parks. They find so many
gold rings and stuff over that, you know, because they
hit it all the time. So the attrition, right, the

(01:06:24):
attrition rate or you know, is hit so often that
they find gold. And with gold being this high, like, man,
if you guys want to financi your hoppy, you.

Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
Need to get out. I'm ready to go to a park.

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
You got to get out in the park. But if
you go, make sure you know the rules and regulations.
One thing we really preach in our club is knowing
what the rules and regulations are around you, because in
Colorado some cities have outlawed it because of people going
there and doing the wrong things cutting too big of
a hole, using two big of a shovel. Some city

(01:07:02):
and jurisdictions around here will only allow you to use
a probe. And if you've never done probe digging before,
definitely should.

Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
Probably learn that.

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
It's like the less impactful, the least impactful to the
ground you can do to retrieve targets. It's probe digging
using a probe. But yeah, please please do it right
because you're representing all of us out there, and if
you go there and do it wrong and get caught,
it can just cause a lot of problems for all
of us. So you know, three sided plugs, replace your plug,

(01:07:33):
cut as small plug as possible by pinpointing better, and
you know, know exactly what's allowed and what's not allowed.

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Yep, absolutely, and go get that gold man shoot the
gold or you know what, how about silver too? Silver
is almost almost up to fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
You know what that's hurting these these hunts, these metal
detecting hunts. It's really hurting it because we have quite
as much.

Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
Yeah, yeah, it's tough to buy, you know, the the
cold silver coins as you're as you are, you know,
seating seating hunts types of things. When you know it's
it's uh doubled in the last the last year or so,
maybe not doubled, but you know, it makes it it

(01:08:19):
definitely makes it makes it more difficult to buy those
Roosevelt dimes, the Mercury dimes, just because they've they've gone
up so much in value.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
We do monthly hunts here at our club. We do,
you know, one of the board members has to organize
a hunt every month, a different board member. We have
about twelve and and that's that's it. They charge usually
twenty twenty five bucks to go and do the hunt,
to seed it, hunt some park around here, and it's
really cool. They come up with different themes. It's not

(01:08:51):
just fun, right fun for club members go out and
do they plant everything, and but the amount of silver
that everyone wants to find is becoming less and less
and less, so they're having to come up with different
types of ideas.

Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
They also do tokens for prizes and sometimes that's the
trade off. Right, you're not gonna find some much silver,
but you're gonna find some cool you know, prizes, jewelers, loops,
little you know, little things like that. But yeah, the
prices of the precious metals are crazy, crazy, crazy, yep.

(01:09:26):
Even if you don't you know what if you can
go hit garage sales man telling you, oh yeah, do
you want to find some gold to help?

Speaker 1 (01:09:32):
But yeah, Goodwill any kind of crazy lamp lady, get
some tips and pointers and hit the Goodwill Salvation army yep,
because you just never know what you're going to find there.

Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
You go to I saw this tip one time you
go to garage sales, ask the people, even if you
don't see anything out, ask the people, hey, you have
any broken jewelry because a lot of people, if they
buy gold, they've got pieces that are broken or missing
and earring, you know, so the set's an incomplete set,
and see if they'll they'll never use it again. They
got one earring out of a two set, but they

(01:10:04):
still they throw it in a bag somewhere. They break
a necklace, they throw it in a bag somewhere. You say, hey,
I want to buy that from you or whatever. Sometimes
you'll get a really good deal on that and uh,
you know, make yourself a profit there. You go go
pay for your trip to England.

Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
Ooh, that'd be cool.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
I'll tell you what if pool tabs are every fifteen ounce.
I'm retiring, buddy, and retiring.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
We have to get into more parks to find more
pool tabs.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Yeah, yeah, or ancient ground with Josh Gates.

Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
Speaking of Josh Gates, you're gonna do it, aren't you.

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
I was going to do it.

Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
I know what you're looking at here.

Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
You're gonna find it faster than I find it. You
guys heard you guys heard of Josh Gates. I'm sure
you've heard of Josh Gates.

Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
I think I heard of that guy before.

Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
He's the host of Expedition Unknown. He has Expedition X files,
ex Expedition files. He's he comes around to his post,
does personal appearances around around the country where you can
go see and he has this talking tour he's doing.
I've been looking forward to come to Colorado. He doesn't

(01:11:28):
come because I'll go, oh good, I definitely want to
go check that out. Good guy. Tony and I were
lucky enough to have met him. But yeah, look at
this done. Is there a song for the Emmys. I
don't think there's a song for the Emmys, but.

Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
I don't know, although it is with the with this hat.
There you go next, she says. Twenty twenty four to
twenty twenty five Daytime Emmy Awards Adventure Outstanding Travel and
Adventure Program, Expedition and No Discovery Channel. Josh Gates executive producer. Yes,

(01:12:10):
look at that.

Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
So congratulations Josh Gates on your first Emmy win for
all those years. I think he's been running since what
twenty fifteen, all those years and all that hard way.

Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
Hey look at there. There's Fits. Yeah, Fits is in there. Fits. Yeah,
look at that he got in there. Good for him.

Speaker 2 (01:12:30):
Yeah, So, Tony and I worked with Josh Gates and Fits.
He was his producer on Expedition Unknown season fifteen, episode three.
You can go check it out. It's out now. And yeah,
I was seeing all kinds of posts from this night.
I saw the post ahead of time saying Tonight's going
to be a great night, Tonight's going to be epic,

(01:12:52):
you know, and then saw that they actually won, and
I know the party afterwards and everything they were, so, yeah,
you don't a good time.

Speaker 1 (01:13:00):
Completely disappointed though. During the acceptance speech, did you hear
your name? You know what? I didn't. I was going
to ask you if you heard it, because I didn't
hear my name either.

Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
I mean, we're gonna have to. We're trying to get
him on. We're actually trying to get Josh r. And
if we get him on, that's the first question I'm
going to ask him.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
What's up? He didn't freaking mention us at all? Man?

Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
What's up with that? Stuart mentioned, Yeah, you guys contributed
to that. Congratulations.

Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
We did.

Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
Actually he won for season fifteen, which is this current
season and this last year, so we did directly contribute
to that. But he didn't thank us. Man, what's up
with that?

Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
I'm waiting for my royalties check from it then as well.

Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
Oh and I can't leave the stage tonight without thanking
three metal detectorists in Colorado, especially that one guy that
pulled the pull tab.

Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Oh that man so so funny.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
He's got a new series coming out too, He's got
series sixteen. He's got uh well, he's got a new episode,
a new uh season coming out. Season sixteen is coming
out and he's launching it. I think the same night
his next season of Expedition Files is.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Coming out or something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so things coming up for him.

Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
Yeah to mention this, What does that mean we'll forget
the canflex.

Speaker 2 (01:14:41):

Speaker 2 (01:24:57):

(01:26:21):
some friends on of ours that were over in England
recently and absolutely crushed it. And one of the pictures
one of my buddies over there posted of is fine
on his Facebook page. He's wearing Adventures in Dirt hoodie.
I'm like, we had to represent it's like a lucky
rabbit's foot or something.

Speaker 1 (01:26:38):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
Yeah, I was like blinded by the hood I ever know?
Check that out look at that.

Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
You never know.

Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
Yeah, a lot of fun, a lot of fun. But
uh oh yeah, Brass Medic gave a little comment in
there that's cool. Yep, he said, I thought, you know, sorry,
I thought it would be fun to have a topic
for the show to be. The Gold Monster two thousand
very cool.

Speaker 1 (01:27:03):
Is a hybrid VLF, multi frequency and PI circuit. So
it definitely to do here exactly what that means.

Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
We were just talking about that earlier today we were
kind of showing the Mind Lab two thousand gold Monster
the Gold Monster two thousand and talking a little bit
about it. But we don't know anything about it. So Mark,
let's do that. Man, Let's get you on. Let's get
you on and schedule a date. We do these Wednesday nights,
eight pm Eastern. You've been on with us before. You've
always been a great guest, so love to have you

(01:27:33):
on with us. Let's let's make that happen.

Speaker 1 (01:27:35):
So people are gonna have questions, and you know, like
we had said earlier, anytime you get a new detector out,
you know we need to give it it's it's due
diligence and and get the information out there. It might
not be for everybody, but you know, it could blow
the boots off somebody else and and and uh, you know,
so new technology. It sounds like to me, which I'm
interested to really hear about it. I know, uh, I

(01:27:56):
know Mark has some experience using it, so no better
person to get him on. So let's make it happen.

Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
Yeah, must make that happen. But perfect, that would be great. Yeah,
we are going to be talking a lot about gold
here in the next few few weeks, for sure. We
got some gold being mentioned next week with us. We've
got a guy from our club coming on talk about
gold nugget shooting. And we've got you know, possibly Mark
with brass Metic coming on to talk about that that machine.

(01:28:24):
That'd be amazing. That'd be a really golden golden month
for us. And we also have you know November for
a beginning of November. Yeah, that's our that's our kickoff
for season nine of Relach Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:28:40):
That's nearly half my life. Can you can you believe that? Yeah? Yeah,
we've been doing it. We'll call it there. I'm doing
the math.

Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
I'm like, wait a minute, I think he's older than that.
I'm not sure, but I think he.

Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Is for real.

Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
Well, the uh, yeah, you know, you know what we
used to do every uh you know, Relics Radio had
had a thing every year, a traditional that they would
do every year. At the beginning of a new season.
They always had a specific guest on. You know remember

(01:29:20):
who that guest was? I do anybody in the chat?

Speaker 1 (01:29:24):
No? Oh, good question for the chat. This is a trivia.

Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
Yeah, radio would have on at the beginning of every
new season. They'd have the same guest on because he
was the very first guest of Relicx Radio that was
ever on. Let me know in the chat if you
guys know who that is, and then we got to
get out of here after that.

Speaker 1 (01:29:52):
No, that's not what you wanted. There you go. I
wanted Keeves. That's right. Eves.

Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
Yeah, Henry mourn yep, the Keebler from Stealth Diggers. He
was the very first guest that Lloyd and Tennessee Jeff
had on the show way back in what twenty seventeen,
I think it was season one, episode one, and so
season one of every new season, episode one of every
new season they would have keeps on again. So again,

(01:30:20):
I asked you to go back and listen to some
of those old podcasts and just the first episode of
every new season was great and keeps got better and
better and better. He played a lot of music for
us on that on that on those episodes.

Speaker 1 (01:30:34):
He'd play a ukulele and he was amazing. What a
fun guy.

Speaker 2 (01:30:40):
Yeah, rest in peace. Games still think about you so entertaining.
I'm such a great guy. But yeah, we'll have to
honor him at some point when we do our new
season season beginning. We got to figure out when that's
going to be and have to a couple week coming
up here. Yeah, yeah, I think the fifth. The fifth

(01:31:03):
is a Wednesday, so maybe we'll do it. Maybe we'll
set that for the season opener of season nine.

Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
We'll look at it. Cool, let's get over here, let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:31:15):
It's fun and thanks everyone for joining us in the
chat tonight and all the back and forth. That was
a fun little show.

Speaker 1 (01:31:22):
Yeah yep, and uh yep. Keep keep me in the loop.

Speaker 2 (01:31:26):

that picture with anybody, dude.

Speaker 1 (01:32:09):
I thought we were friends. Man, that was just for you.
I just took that.

Speaker 2 (01:32:12):

side on that, man, Damn.

Speaker 1 (01:32:24):

Speaker 2 (01:32:41):

Speaker 1 (01:32:44):

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Hope you find all your bucket listers and white whales
out there. I will say that if you hadn't seen
the episode we did with with Rich Van Winkle from
the quarter Holder crew, you need to go back and
check that episode out too, right here on Relics Radio,
because I'll tell you, we always say that relatory is

(01:33:29):
a lucky rabbit's foot. When you come on the show,
you're a guest here on the show and you tell
us what you haven't found yet and you really want
to find it, You're gonna find it one or two
weeks maybe, but you'll find it. That's the that's the
power of Relics Radio. And Rich Van Winkle did exactly that.
So I dare you to go listen to his episode again,
listen to what he wants to find, and then go

(01:33:51):
check out some quarter Holder episodes. Three Ope, don't hear
you three three, two, Nope, still don't hear you?

Speaker 1 (01:34:03):
Is it me?

Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
Or is no?

Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
Your Mike's muted? He found three of them? He found three?
Yeah yeah, so not one, no, not two, yep, he
found three.

Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
So I just saying Relics Radio, Lucky Rabbit's Foot. Everyone,
have a great time. We'll see you next Wednesday when
we have our buddies on talking about their trip to
England and it's gonna be golden. We'll see you then.

Speaker 1 (01:34:30):

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
We will see you back here next week for another
exciting guest. Until then, get out and dig it all.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
