Toro 6x52 100.
(00:38):
And their night shift, Toro
6x50. Uh, on this one. So.
Took a little bit of girth there.
>> (00:46):
Does that really count?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (00:50):
You gotta trim that girth sometimes.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (00:52):
Sometimes.
>> Announcer (00:53):
We'll be right back after this.
(01:17):
Brought to you almost live from the dude in the
basement studios. Why? Because that's where the
good stuff is. It sips, suds and
smokes with your smoke. And host the good old
boys.
(01:51):
Hey, man, got a light? It's
time for smokes.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (01:57):
Welcome to this smokes episode where everything life as good as
worth the. Whoa, I can't talk today. Where
everything good in life worth. Is discussing.
Can anyone just run that?
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (02:07):
Who wrote this?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:08):
Can I just run that? Ah. Uh, okay.
Edit mark there. Welcome
to this smokes episode where everything good in life is worth
discussing. We just nailed it.
>> (02:20):
Let's just start. Is there.
Start over for a third time, Barger.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:25):
Yeah, I got it. I got it. All right. To my
left here is good old boy Rich. How do
good old boy Benjamin back.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (02:32):
Like I never left.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:33):
And back on the ones and twos is good old boy Mike.
>> (02:35):
Um, in spite of multiple injunctions,
uh, I'm still returning.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:40):
Can't get away from him. Well, here we are. The best
thing at 2am right before return. Return.
I just can't talk today, guys.
It's been a long week.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (02:50):
Morning.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:50):
Morning. Morning. Morning. We are the best thing on at
2:00am um, right before reruns of Japan's Total Wipeout.
>> (02:56):
Ooh.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:57):
And just after.
>> (02:58):
Is that in black and white?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (02:59):
It sometimes. Depends on where you're at.
>> (03:02):
Okay. Is it, uh. Is it overdubbed in
English?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:06):
It's actually overdubbed in Spanish.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (03:09):
Portuguese.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's overdubbed in Spanish.
>> (03:13):
How many gummies were involved prior to that decision?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:16):
I couldn't make the remote change it. So I learned Spanish that
night.
>> (03:19):
I can't feel my thumb, so I can't find the
tv.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:23):
Well, we're on just before that and just after does this look
infected?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Favorite show.
>> (03:27):
Love that.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:28):
As you know, and I hope you know, our smoke segments are all about
fun and cigars and, well, anything that's smoked,
really.
>> (03:34):
Definitely not reading words on a piece of paper.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:36):
That's right. I can't read today. And for today's segment, drum roll,
please.
>> (03:40):
Uh, let's see here. I have. I do have a drum roll somewhere.
Uh, there it is.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (03:48):
We have War Fighter Tobacco Company.
We are going over today. You asked for.
You asked for it. And here we are to fool one another
again. So what's in the box, Benjamin?
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (04:01):
Oh, I'm glad you asked. Barter. So, uh, today we'll be going
over the line from Warfighter. Uh, it includes the
50 cal Garrison, a Toro
6x52, the 7.62
millimeter field, which is a 6 by 52.
Toro, the 5.5 6 millimeter
Garrison, also in a, uh. Yep, you guessed it.
Toro 6 by 52. 100%.
(04:23):
And their night shift. Toro
6x50 on this one. So
took a little bit off. Girth there really count.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:35):
You gotta trim that girth sometimes.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (04:37):
Sometimes.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (04:38):
All right, well, before we get started, I wanted to thank John
Simmons and his team for making this episode happen
today. So strap on and hang in tight. We're gonna have fun today.
But don't worry if you miss anything. You can download the full episode
from anywhere. You can stream podcast.
Uh, but before we dive into the shallow end of the pool, remember the
buddy system. Where's your buddy?
>> (04:59):
Buddy?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (05:09):
Still one of my all time favorite movies. If you're a cigar
newbie. For fret not, we got you covered on our Cigar
101 episode where all this cigar speak can be
decoded. Just search for sip Sud Smokes,
Cigars 101. And that episode should pop right up.
Follow the link. And you can also follow the link in our show notes
below.
>> (05:26):
Is that our, uh, episode with sign language?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (05:28):
Uh, that is. And that's also dubbed in
Spanish.
>> (05:33):
I think I got the, uh, the sign language that Canadians
use with us, you know, which is a. Usually a gesture
with one finger.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (05:40):
Yeah, huh? Uh-huh. Well, good old boy Rich gets the
honors of going over our smokes rating today.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So, Rich, uh, so we'll be smoking and
discussing these cigars and rating them with our sip
suds and smokes ratings, plus our
signature sounds. Here are the
ratings. Now, a one would be, this sucked
even before it was lit.
(06:04):
Or as I like to say, it sucks so bad it smokes
itself. Number two, at least I lit
it.
And number three, Would be. I'd smoke this one
again.
Four. How much you want for them?
(06:30):
Magnificent.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: And a five. Finally. Where are they? I need a
box.
But before we get started on this, on this reviews, uh,
here, I wanted to take a bit and touch on his company.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (06:47):
You're gonna touch on his company?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (06:48):
I'm gonna touch on this company. All of them.
>> (06:50):
Do you use hand sanitizer with that?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (06:52):
Sometimes. Both hands.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Latex gloves.
Oh, yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (06:55):
I mean it's something else that comes in a pumpable bottle, I
think.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (06:59):
Lubric. Lubricant.
>> (07:01):
Yep.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (07:01):
All right. So John and his company, man,
they uh, they're. They're veteran owned and
operated.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yes. Thank you for your service.
Thank you guys for your service. So John and his partner Scott served together
in Iraq from 2003 to 2004 with a
3. With the 3.327th infantry
out of Fort Campbell in the 101st Airborne Division
where John was a machine gunner and Scott was a sniper. Could you
(07:24):
imagine being a sniper out there smoking
cigars.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (07:28):
Uh, I mean,
smoking cigars.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I think that's probably something they waited till they were back on.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (07:35):
Yeah, yeah. Base, uh, you can, you can imagine though. In
total, John served five years and Scott just shy of
10. Both were at one time the 11B
rank. Their day to day ops guy is Dave, whose prior
was Air Force. Uh, Justin, their
director of propaganda. I love that propaganda.
It was in the army infantry as well. And I just
(07:55):
wanted to give you guys a little backstory on them. And from us to you
guys, thank you all for your service and your sacrifice.
>> (08:01):
Yes. If you don't hear anything else that we're going
to say today, that would be the one thing that
you hopefully you'll take away, which is our, our
gratitude for your service.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:10):
We appreciate you guys and everything you've done for sure.
Um, so first up, we're going to just
dive into the deep end. We're going to go with the night shift. Rich, what do you know about the
night shift?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So we own the night has become the motto of
the those war fighters, operators, first responders
and rest of those unsung American who work
the night shift to keep America running smoothly while the rest
(08:32):
of us sleep
offered in a.
Put the mic in your mouth.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I can't. I can't have it there and read at the same time.
>> (08:43):
Rich is. Rich is trying to find the microphone although
he is talking to the other people at Venezuela,
Venezuela, way over on the Amazon cigar.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So I need it. I need a better setup here.
This is my good eye Google glasses or something.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (08:57):
Jesus.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (08:58):
Just scroll in your eye and you can read it. I'm old. Leave me alone.
Teleprompter. I just.
>> (09:02):
If. If you've missed what's going on here. First off, there
are words on a page the barger cannot read.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (09:08):
So I can't read today.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I just can't see them.
>> (09:10):
The second thing is, is that there are words on a page
that Rich cannot find, though. And he cannot
chew glasses on his microphone and read words on a page
all at the same time.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (09:20):
I swear we've done this before. Really? I promise.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Oh, my God.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (09:24):
Get it together, guys.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Uh. Oh, yeah. Night Shift. Offered in a
6x50, this medium bodied cigar utilizes
an Ecuadarian Habano
oscura scuro
wrapper. Quit.
>> (09:38):
Quit.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: The looks, an Indonesian binder and a Nicaraguan
long filler tobaccos. The resulting
smoke provides contrasting notes of pepper, leather,
citrus and fruits. A small band
of candela circles the gap. The cap.
Sorry. As a subtle nod to the glorious green
hue that emanates from the
(09:58):
advanced infrared night vision optics used so
effectively in the war on
terror. So the wrapper,
we've said it's an Ecuadorian Habino
Oscaro. The filler is Nicaraguan, the binder
is Indonesian. So first, my
thoughts. I love this cigar. Yeah, so one of the
things that I liked about, um,
(10:20):
has a, um, it's a medium body,
um, Ecuadarian.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (10:28):
Hey, Ecuadorian.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: That's how we say it out in pegram.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:31):
That's my cousin, Ecuadorian.
>> (10:35):
Now, boy, if I'm gonna let you into the country,
I want you to look at me and tell me you ain't one of them
Ecuadarians.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (10:42):
I can't read. You can't speak. It's just.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Whatever. That's too much fun.
Too much fun.
Tell me about it. Uh, what'd you write?
>> (10:50):
Ah, here, uh, here in Arkansas. We're gonna put you on a bus and put
you back to Texas, take.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You back to Ecuador.
Ecuadorian.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So, uh, no, it has this, uh, that sweet
cedar taste that I love so much.
That's.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: That's kind of what I thought about, um, was a
great burn. Very consistent, good ash. Everything
I liked about it. Can't. Can't say too many things.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (11:10):
Did you smoke it with a band on or band off?
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Uh, well, I, you know, it was a big
fan.
It's got a big band.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You can't smoke it much with the band on, but it. Yeah,
so I probably.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:21):
One of my top favorite things about the cigar is the packaging.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (11:24):
Yeah, this.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:25):
This thing look. This thing looks cool.
>> (11:27):
Well, this one is. This is the green. That's right.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:29):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (11:30):
If you like this one, they got one called Dumpster Fire.
They send us some. That thing looks awesome.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Really?
>> (11:35):
So did anybody. Did it glow in the dumpster box?
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:38):
It doesn't glow in the dark, which. Only when your
notes. That would be cool factor. Uh, only when you're drawing
another step.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (11:44):
Oh, glow in the dark.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:45):
Yeah. Pretty,
pretty.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Where the tobacco leaves.
>> (11:50):
You still couldn't find the words on.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (11:51):
The piece that made glowing tobacco. You would want to
see that.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (11:55):
You see like that, you know that green hue that they talk
about. Yeah. In the nightshade
wrapper or night shift wrapper. Sorry.
And then that little papa
candela right there at the cap.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (12:08):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (12:08):
Just kind of ties everything together. Like really good looking smoke,
which I think is, uh, one of those things, you know, you see
it on the shelf. It. You're gravitated towards
it because you're like, oh, man, that looks pretty cool. And
then, you know, obviously, uh, if
you're into, you know, thinking all of
our service members out there and into,
(12:29):
you know, war history and all those
type of things, like this thing pops right off
the shelf.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
>> (12:37):
Well, so I like the first part of the conversation
that you and I were having, Benjamin. Uh, is that
the. This is a lot of
combinations that you don't routinely find. And
so I think that was the thing that stood
out across a lot of this product line is just you
don't find a lot of these, you know, particular combos.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (12:57):
This one's. This one's actually the most straightforward out of
the entire lineup.
>> (13:02):
Yeah. So, uh, you know, having
a Habana squirrel, you know, wrapper with a
Nika and Indonesian binder. Um,
yes, there are definitely, you know, some, some other people that
have that combo. But, you know, I,
uh, I don't know. As far as, you know, the packaging itself,
I like the fact that it was fairly simple and they didn't have a
(13:22):
secondary band, so.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:23):
Yeah.
>> (13:24):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:24):
Oh, I loved it. We'll be right back.
Welcome back. I hope you buy everything
in the ads because,
uh, that's what helps us. So Mike has a
couple things he wants to say about the, uh, night shift. So, Mike, what
are your thoughts on that?
>> (13:40):
Well, so here is, uh, some of the notes that I took
while I was enjoying the night shift from War
Fighter.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (13:46):
It's time for War.
>> (13:50):
Uh, so there was kind of some pepper in the lead.
Kind, um, of brighter and more vibrant wittiness,
you know, kind of behind that. And then there's this
creaminess that was kind of in the background. Um, you
know, the habano oscuro just never showed up for
me. Um, you know, I love that
wrapper. And when it's well done, you know, I'm like, okay,
(14:10):
game on, you know? But, yeah, at
the end of the day, I was kind of like, meh.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:15):
I thought it had that hint of spice that just.
Just. I like the cigar as well.
So I. I have the spicy notes. The. Everything I
got out was great.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I think it was a little bit. A little bit more mellow. Not as
spicy, but I did. I did feel the spice. I
had this.
>> (14:31):
I would give this cigar to my third favorite cousin.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Okay,
so number three.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:39):
Well, we're gonna give it a three.
>> (14:42):
All righty.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (14:43):
Smokes rating. A three. That's three out of five
for those who don't know us. Uh,
up next, we got the 7.62 field
Sumatra, and I think Benjamin's gonna
take that away.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (14:54):
Yeah, 7.62 millimeter field
Sumatra. Very consistent smoke throughout. Floral
notes, some leather and earth tones. Don't overpower.
Hints of burnt marshmallow and sugar. Give a pleasant
sweetness. Very pleasant. Retro hell. Good
smoke any time of the day. Uh, this one
is rapper, uh, Indonesian Sumatra.
Binder is Habano. Filler is
(15:16):
Habano from Esteli. Habano from
Condega and Dominican Republic. Uh, and
so that really leads into what we're talking about
with these blends. They, uh, the filler specifically, it
needs.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (15:28):
A little bit of extra something there.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (15:30):
Uh, you can tell they paid a lot of attention to the filler and
where they source those tobaccos from and kind of blended some different
regions together.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (15:37):
Right.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (15:38):
Which would definitely give you the, uh,
implication that this is, you know,
something that bodes a lot of complexity. There's a lot of
thought that goes into, uh, these blends
that they put together. Uh, and I would consider this to
be one of their baseline smokes.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (15:55):
Yeah, it's for sure baseline, but I mean, they definitely
have a distinct palette, I think.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:00):
Yeah, well, and. And I mean, baseline from, like, it's a. It's a foundational
smoke for them. Right. They're always going to put out the Sumatra, the Connecticut,
the Maduro, those kind of styles and shaded rappers
100. Um, and this thing was
solid. The Sumatra was there for me. That cool,
like, kind of creamy vibe that you get from
it. Um, subtle.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:20):
Subtle. White, Peppery.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:21):
Yeah. So some cool, peppery notes. Uh, that. That
marshmallow kind of leathery, oaky is on the retro
hell, a bit. Um, but my favorite thing
and what I would commend them the most about
for all of these smokes. No burn issues. These
things burn laser sharp all the
way through, so they're very well constructed.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:40):
100.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:41):
Uh, they also produce a decent amount of smoke, too. So
it's got. It's got a big, you know, smoking
experience to it.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Big plume.
>> (16:49):
I'll echo that element about quality. Uh,
I mean, literally, those are the words on my review. Quite
possibly the best burn line I've ever had.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (16:57):
Yeah, absolutely.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (16:58):
I have. I'm, um. I'm a huge quality
nerd. So if I start getting burned wonky. If I
start getting canoe issues. Canoe issues.
Or it starts getting squishy, I'm
done. I'm done. And I'll say I smoked all these down to
the nub, I mean. And it stayed
consistent all the way down through it.
>> (17:18):
Yeah. And that was not true of just this stick. Um,
there was something that was
across, uh, the vast majority of the product line. Really
great quality.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (17:27):
When we talked about it a little bit up front, where everything that we
got in this lineup was in the Toro size.
And fun fact, they. They cover
every Vitola right, uh, through their core line.
So I would really enjoy this. Um, I would
enjoy to revisit it.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (17:43):
Like a petite Lancero.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (17:45):
I knew it. I knew it.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Bingo.
They do one. They do one called the. The Minuteman, which is like a
4x44. Just like a little dog walker, petite
Corona, whatever you want to call it. Um, and I think that would
be a really cool way to revisit this brand. Yeah.
>> (17:59):
Ah, yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I really enjoyed this one as well. I did have a little bit
of issue with it, but it was probably more of
my environment than anything else I had to put.
But, um, hostile environment. Yeah. Hosta. Yeah.
Well, you know, when you're smoking, uh, in the enemy territory,
sometimes, um, you have to relight a little bit.
But, no, I had a, um. I had a good experience with
(18:20):
all of them. Like you guys said, really good construction. Yeah, I
found this one kind of. I mean, I found it pretty good.
Solid. This is something definitely I'd pick up again.
Um, but, uh, you think they flicked.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (18:32):
One of these lit into, like, a barrel of
gasoline, I hope, set off the, like,
that slow mo fireball that they could walk away
from.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:41):
Like, a really cool advertisement where it's just, like, blowing up a car
and they're walking towards it.
>> (18:45):
Hey, Daryl, watch this.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:46):
It's like 7, 6, 2, millimeter field
there.
>> (18:50):
I'll show you. Burn line, boy.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:53):
Nailed it.
>> (18:55):
You know, hang on a second.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (18:56):
It's time for war.
Let's give our take on this, guys. What do you think?
>> (19:02):
I'm gonna. I. Yeah, I'm not there yet, man. So,
no, I didn't get to talk about it. I had a couple of things to add.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:08):
All right, well, go ahead.
>> (19:09):
Yeah. So, um, some other things here in my
review. This spicy woody up front. I'm sorry, did
we say wood.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:19):
Like Peewee's Playhouse? Every time he.
>> (19:20):
They would, uh, you know, but I think you would expect that, you
know, with this much, you know, Nicaragua kind of going
on, uh, and it wasn't a puro, you know, through and
through. And when I was kind of looking at that
filler, I was like, why would you do that? You
know, Are you. Are you trying to add
complexity or are you trying to balance out something that you picked
early on and you're like, well, this is just not right.
(19:43):
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Maybe they got a deal on it.
Exactly. I was.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (19:46):
I was.
>> (19:46):
I was kind of thinking that, you know, that's kind of.
They. They ran into a good deal, and they're like, oh, we can
mellow this out and make it, you know, sing the way we want to.
Because I was just looking at this kitchen sink, you know,
concept, you know, um, in the filler itself and
going, why are you doing that? And I kept on waiting for something
to kind of jump out at me and going, oh, well, that's why they did it.
(20:07):
And that was just never the case. But,
um, it did kind of mellow out after the
first ash, but big, huge plumes of
smoke, you know, coming off of this for sure.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (20:17):
Yeah.
>> (20:18):
And, uh, definitely a lot more wood.
Yeah. Uh, but all in all, I.
It was kind of filling that category where, you know,
um, at, you know, my third best cousin,
you know, his next birthday, I'd give him this other stick as
well, so.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:36):
Well, we're gonna go with
force.
>> (20:39):
Yeah. Okay. All righty. My rating here for
the
war fighters.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (20:46):
Magnificent.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:46):
Magnificent.
>> (20:47):
762 is a 4 rating. So.
There you go.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (20:51):
There you go. All right, well, up next is the
556 millimeter.
And that is, uh, Mike's going to take that away.
>> (21:00):
Yeah. So, uh, this is another stick here in the
war fighter category. We're going to have our story.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:05):
Yeah. Before we take this away, let's just have a little
conversation about cigar room,
cigar lounge.
>> (21:11):
Cigar lounge etiquette.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:13):
We were discussing this before post
here, and, uh, we have some things to say
to you people out there and.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:20):
Listen well, listen up.
>> (21:22):
Listen well, well, you know, so we all smoke
in, uh, different places and different
times of the year. And, and um, I
mean, both Benjamin and Barger,
they have a place in their house that, you know, they can.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (21:36):
Go and called my house.
>> (21:38):
Yeah. And, and smoke in.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (21:39):
I smoke in the garage.
>> (21:40):
Rich and I. Rich and I don't, we, we don't smoke in
our, in our homes themselves. So we usually have to
go outside or somewhere else, you know,
and, you know, we're kind of at the behest of
weather, you know, to make that decision. So we definitely, you
know, get around and check out, you know, some cigar lenders.
And I, I actually like that, you know,
because I'm, I'm out there, you know, with the consumer
(22:02):
base. I get to see, you know, what are some of the things
that, you know, they're seeing, you know, what
works for them, more importantly, what doesn't work.
And boy, I tell you, just, you know, it is really
just all over the place. And, and it's not
just unique to, you know, one city. I
mean, I really see a lot of variability, you
know, all over the place and even
(22:24):
globally, you know, um, just, you
know, the, the experience that people have in,
you know, cigar lounges can just have all
these huge swings. I wish there was like a, you know, almost
a. Hey, if you want to have a really great cigar lounge,
hit these five things, you know.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:40):
Fair enough.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:41):
Yeah, I, I ventilation.
>> (22:43):
Ah. At the top of the list. Absolutely. You know,
and one of the cigar shops that Rich and I go to,
they've had the same air handling system since Elvis
was, you know, uh, like the 70s. Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:55):
I mean, Elvis used to go there.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (22:56):
It's a box fan in the window.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (22:58):
Yeah, right. And it's right next to
Cletus.
>> (23:01):
I think that would be a huge improvement.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:03):
Prove that.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Okay.
I think the box fan is blowing into the cigar, not
out.
>> (23:07):
Yeah. So, I mean, yeah, this, this
place is about to move to a new location. And so I was having
this conversation actually, you know, with my wife. You know, she
was like, well, you know, uh, I'm really
excited that they're actually going to be moving
because I know they won't move those air handlers. So
they'll buy new air handlers, you know, finally.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (23:27):
Well, they're going to have to get those shelves up off the floor
with a shovel for sure or something.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:32):
For sure.
>> (23:33):
14.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:33):
They're probably going to find more cigars that they forgot about
in that place.
>> (23:37):
Oh, absolutely.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: And patrons, it's been around for patrons
behind the couch in the back.
This place has been around for, you know, quite a while. But I,
you know, great people by. I think that was a great start. Right there
is, you know, look, I, uh, there
are some cigar lounges I. I come home from, and I
just want to just light my clothes on fire after I get
back. Instead of even trying to wash anything, two or three, I like to
(23:59):
roll.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (23:59):
Around in them and put them in my bed, use them as
pillows, sleep with them.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: My wife makes me strip down in the garage and hoses me
down.
>> (24:08):
I'm in the same category.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (24:10):
Before you come inside
is what she's looking for.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Takes the garage, the car scrubber, and scrubs me
from a distance.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (24:17):
I've seen it. It's weird.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
>> (24:19):
I think one of the other things I'm really kind of, you know, very sensitive
to is, you know, kind of the, the
general, you know, financial component, you know,
of running a. A cigar lounge. And,
you know, this definitely has some variability, but,
um, look, if you're walking into a cigar lounge
and you didn't buy anything there, I mean,
(24:39):
it's customary for a place to have a cut fee, you
know, maybe, you know, or.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (24:44):
Like a BYOB cork fee.
>> (24:46):
Yeah. Uh, 2 bucks, 5 bucks, 10 bucks, whatever, you
know, they're charging, Pay the man. I
mean, seriously, you know, you're sitting in the chair.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: That's right.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (24:55):
You're smoking a cigar. Pay something.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Buy a cigar from them.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (25:00):
Yeah, that right there, if you, if.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You bought it on the Internet, smoke it on the
Internet.
>> (25:05):
I like that phrase, you know, and I, I
wish it was a gift. Yeah. And there are, you
know, I've seen people walk into a lounge, and I'm like, you don't do
this often, you know, and, and that's okay. And
I mean, some scar lounges, they have a clearly, you know, posted
on a sign. It's not like some big, you know,
uh, rule, Wonder what I should do or not. You know, I'm like, dude, there's
(25:26):
a sign. Seriously, you know.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (25:27):
Well, I think one of the things that you're missing, if you're
just using them to shelter you from the weather
or whatever the case may be, you don't know what's in that
humidor. Right. You don't really know what they
carry. So it's always good to pop ahead in, look
for something new. Right. Look for something exciting, something you
haven't tried to ask one of the, uh, shop people that one of the
(25:48):
tobacco works there. Right. And, and kind of get their
$0.02 on some things that they're kind of jazzed about, and
then, yeah, yeah, buy a stick, man.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (25:55):
You know, if they say they don't smoke, then leave.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (25:58):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Good point.
But, yeah, buy a stick. You know, uh, lean
into the opportunity that you have for community and
camaraderie in there, because you meet every different, you know, walk
of life. And I think that's one of our favorite things here,
you know, at this table about that is, you know, we all do
something a little bit different. We all have, you know, different viewpoints
(26:19):
and things that we're, you know, passionate about and sitting down
and having a smoke and just being able to hash that
out and have those conversations is, you
know, about, uh, 75% of the experience.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (26:30):
I just think also on that, be mindful about who you're around
with your conversation, too. You know, there's a lot of people
that use cigar shops as their workspace.
You know, they'll go in there and spend hundreds of dollars and sit there
all day, you know, or some people will
spend nothing and sit there all day, and that's what
you don't want to do.
>> (26:49):
Well, and I. I see it as, you know, a
social outlet, you know, for, you know, a group of
people as well. I mean, the same shop that, you know,
Rich and I go into, I mean, it's the same 18
people on their deathbed.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:02):
I used to go to that shop.
>> (27:03):
All the time, you know, that they go in, they
bitch, whining, complain about.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:08):
The same thing every single day
you walk in.
>> (27:13):
Uh, you know, I'm sitting there,
you know, in the chair. And unfortunately, the.
The Internet had. There was an outage,
and so the TV wasn't on at all. And then, you know,
usually right now, you're staring at the
pot at the top of people's heads. They're all staring down their
phone. I'm just as guilty, you know, of that sitting there.
(27:33):
And so I would say that those days of
having, uh, really what I would describe as
some fairly interesting and enriching conversations,
I. I think those days are long gone
because I really find that
the conversations move into. Well, this is
my platform because I know you're stuck here.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
Uh, smoking a cigar. And you're going to listen to me because
(27:56):
you don't have anything else to do.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (27:58):
That's right.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: And you're not going to waste $15 cigar.
>> (28:01):
What they don't realize is that I have two legs. I can get
up and walk out of the room because I don't want To, I
don't want to hear whatever is your agenda of
the day. And so, I mean, I, I think you just
have to realize you're always in mixed company.
And.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:16):
Yeah, that's why I say be mindful about what you're talking about.
>> (28:18):
Just, can you not piss into the fan, you know, in
front of everybody at the same time? You know,
just, you know, pick a topic, talk about
women's volleyball. There's nothing wrong with that.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Okay, but Mike, tell us what you really.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (28:32):
Yeah, I want to hear more about women's
volleyball.
>> (28:37):
Yeah, but I mean, you know, generally the topics,
you know, are, uh, rage into one of politics
or some, you know, light your hair on fire, you know,
conversation that just, it's like, really.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I mean, how much I know about sports.
Can we talk about your favorite color or anything else on
the planet? You know, But I just, it
just, it, it absolutely just. It
(29:00):
ruins the experience, I think, for the vast majority of the people
that are sitting there. And especially, I mean,
if you're going with friends, that's one thing, you know, and
you're sitting around four people that, you know, you're hurting
with those people and you have a, a natural
relationship, you know, with those people already. But if you're
sitting down and just, you know, in mixed
company and you don't know where somebody's,
(29:22):
you know, frame of reference is, you know, dude, seriously, I
don't care what you think about Iceland.
Don't care.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (29:30):
Yeah, for sure. And clean up after
yourself.
>> (29:34):
I mean, there, there are some lounges. There are
some lounges that, you know, they are self serve, you
know, and you're right, you should, you know, if.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (29:42):
You'Re not tipping the guy that's at.
>> (29:44):
The register, you know, clean it up. But there are some
lounges that I go to that it's exactly the opposite.
They don't want you to clean up.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Yeah.
You know, and. Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (29:53):
Uh, but they'll tell you that they.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Don'T want that lit cigar.
Most people just assume that that's always the case.
Oh, they'll clean it. Oh, they'll clean it. And then you got
15 customers walk in at one time and you got dirty stuff
because you've been restocking shelves or
changing out the keg or, you know, making
sure there's no fruit flies.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (30:11):
Yeah. You know, take your glass back to the bar.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:13):
Yeah, take your glass back to the bar. Hey, thanks for letting me smoke here. See you later.
100%, you know, anyway. Well, as
we continue down this journey of war, fighter
cigars, uh, we
are going to talk about the 556 millimeter now.
>> (30:27):
Yeah. So I was going to invite, you know, everybody. Look, if you have
a cigar, um, lounge etiquette, you know, comment.
We'd love to hear about it.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (30:34):
Yeah, tell us all about it. It's at.
Mike.
>> (30:39):
Just drop us a line or, you know, post it on any of
our social media channels. Uh, you know, I'm curious, you know,
what your experience is, but, um, that's a bit of
our conversation, uh, for the day. Well, back to War
Fighter.
So we're going to continue to talk about their. Some of their product
line. And this is a five, five,
(31:00):
six. Um, here is their description.
A creamy beginning which settles into a spice that
is more typical of a Nicaraguan
corojo wrapper. With a habano
blend. Notes of toasted oak and leather arise, still
maintaining a comfortable spice.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (31:16):
Towards the end of the cigar.
>> (31:17):
These flavors evolve into a creamy cocoa, which
soon becomes the prevalent flavor. While the spice and
toasted oak take the back seat.
This, uh, is handmade in Esteli,
Nicaragua. And here is the
wrapper binder filler combo. Again, the
wrapper is corojo from Nicaragua. The
binder is habano from Nicaragua. The filler
(31:40):
is habano from Hamastron,
Honduras. Uh, habano,
uh, Alapa, Nicaragua. And
the legro, Habana, Estelle,
Nicaragua. So this is a puro all the way
through and through. So, um, and
I. I don't know that this is the only one, you
know, in the lineup that, you know, kind of falls into that
(32:02):
category. But, um, this
is, uh, again, you know, a very complex,
you know, three location filler.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:09):
Right.
>> (32:10):
Uh, that they're going after and not the same, you know, that they've
had in some of the other ones. So I think that my theory
is that they bought a huge batch and they decided
to blend it to mellow. I don't think that that's in
play. So.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:22):
Yeah, we'll be right back.
And welcome back from those glorious advertisement
clips. Uh, we were talking about the
556 millimeter
Garrison Toro from War Fighter
Tobacco Company. You, uh, want to show me
your war face?
>> (32:39):
Huh?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:39):
Huh?
>> (32:40):
Uh, yeah, I think you should.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (32:46):
Anyway, Mike was just about to get in and tell us what he thinks about
it.
>> (32:49):
Yeah, so a bit of my review on this. You know, back to that
same comment, which is a really nice burn line.
You know, I can't begin to tell you how much I
enjoy, you know, putting that down on a
very consistent review basis. I don't know why
but, um, it just. I don't
know when you have a stick that you're not touching up
constantly, you know, it's like, wow, this is how
(33:11):
it's supposed to be. You know, as opposed to Barger blaming
me and saying, oh, it must be you. Like, you blame
Rich.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:17):
Listen, listen. You guys just do things
right.
>> (33:22):
You're holding on your upper lip the wrong way.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You suck hard.
Um, you know, overall, pretty mild. Um, you know,
it's just kind of in the middle for me. Um. But,
yeah, nothing. Nothing bad. Nothing great, you
know, but again, I just. It kind of falls into
that. You know, I would give this to my third
favorite cousin again and go, hey, why
(33:45):
just break a streak, you know? Um, you've had two of the
sticks. Here's a third one. But, yeah, oh,
I. You know, it's. It's a solid product
line.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (33:54):
Well, I actually like this one. Um, so
my. I had. We talking about construction
earlier. So this one started off a little tight,
but just as soon as I got it, got the. A good light on
it, it opened up. And then it just kept a, uh,
consistent construction all the way through. I had a little bit of
spicy tones, but not over the top. Just a little
(34:14):
bit of little pepper, uh, right there in the top.
But nothing too over the top. But otherwise, this cigar
was. You could really get the soil
out of it, I think. The whole.
The whole soil. You could just taste it going through.
>> (34:28):
There from all three locations.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:30):
Yeah, it would. It was interesting. It was
interesting, though. It.
>> (34:34):
That. Well, that's Juan.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:35):
It has a very distinct.
>> (34:37):
That's Jose.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:38):
It has a very distinct flavor in. In
this. In this. In this. Um.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You could even tell who rolled it.
No, no, not yet. One day,
maybe.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: All right, I agree with you. I really like this one as well.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (34:51):
I.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You know, it's funny. You talk about construction.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (34:53):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Burnt really well. Mine had a little knot
underneath the band.
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So, yeah. Which is a pet
peeve.
>> (35:01):
Super. But it's different.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: But it's still really
burnt.
Were you inhaling too hard again?
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (35:09):
Had to be. Must have had to.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Been my fault.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:12):
Listen, you don't suck on those things, like
your job.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Well, you know, I'm gonna send you.
>> (35:19):
To cigar smoking school.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: It's my job. No, it was. But it was
really it. You know, I think that's
a. A positive because you're not going to get a perfect roll every time.
I mean, you know, handmade, it happens, and it wasn't bad,
but I don't.
Know how to say.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: I don't Know I like cigars, but I don't
know how to smoke them.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (35:38):
Mhm.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: But anyways, am I boring you over there?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:40):
Yeah, a little bit. Yeah. Geez
storms, I didn't sleep well last night. So
anyway, what are we gonna go on a rating, guys?
>> (35:49):
Benjamin didn't.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (35:50):
Yeah, Benjamin, what do you tell us?
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (35:51):
I, I think this is straightforward, you know, what
you expect from a Correjo. You know, it's not, it's not
overwhelming, uh, with any, you know,
big complexity notes or any kind of, you know,
um, just subtle things that, that make you go
ooh, right. Like I
wonder what it is in this blend that really
(36:12):
drew me in and gave me that cool
complexity. Uh, with that being said, man, this thing is,
is solid through and through. No, uh, no
construction issues for me either. Uh, that, that subtle
spice was even more prevalent on the retro, which
you come to expect from a Corojo wrap cigar.
Uh, and, and I think this is one, you know, this is,
this is, uh, golf course worthy for me.
(36:34):
And, and, and I mean, I can't say it enough for sure.
>> (36:37):
Still would not help him put.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:38):
Well, we're not talking about Barger.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:40):
My short.
>> (36:43):
I was pointing to my stage left, not my m. Stage right.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:45):
He's not. The discussion we're having right now.
Shut it down.
>> (36:49):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (36:49):
Uh, you think his reading skills are bad?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:51):
Yeah, but.
>> (36:52):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (36:53):
All right, well, we'll give it a four.
Well, three and a half. Four. Three and a half.
Magnificent.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:03):
You've been studying. I was wondering, you know,
it's not how averages work, but.
>> (37:07):
Yeah, well, so the question I wanted to throw out here. So this,
this whole thing where they're kind of
sourcing and blending, you know, multiple fillers. I
mean, that is fairly unusual. I,
I don't really find that, you know, a lot of people are making
three choices. Two, uh, you know, not, not
unusual, but three. Do you think that that
is over complicating everything
(37:30):
or they're missing the opportunity to do something
that's just a little easier for them to pull
it off or it's distracting or.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (37:38):
I think, I think we'd have to have a little bit more insight from
the guys that are blending it. Why? Just because
I don't know if it's who they're working with, with
the factory that's producing the cigar for them
or if it's.
They're having the opportunity,
uh, or their only opportunity is to buy
these different styles of tobacco from these different
(38:01):
regions to consistently be able to
produce this line and like keep them in business. So
there's there's kind of two trains of thought
there, right? Is the, is it somebody from the factory
kind of leading them in this direction or
using some of these tobaccos for
whatever reason, they need to get rid of them, they need to move through
them? Uh, or is it someone like on
(38:23):
the war fighter team that's like, hey, man, this
would be really cool, and is nerding out on the blending thing and, you
know, trying to get close earlier
this week.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (38:33):
And he's there now doing this.
So they're coming, um, making some more product stuff there right
now. So I think that's what he's doing is blending and sourcing
right now.
>> (38:42):
Maybe it's a Canadian thing.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (38:46):
It's gonna put some maple leaf in there.
>> (38:48):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So is it like, uh, you're asking, is it really
adding? Is it really like, you know, so
it's two blends wasn't enough?
You know, it's like the conversation, you know, is it with
whiskey that, you know, we have all the time, which is, you know,
people are trying to, you know, bypass the
maturation, you know, process. I'm gonna, I'm gonna put it on
a boat. I'm gonna, you know, uh, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
(39:10):
heat it up, you know. What was that?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (39:12):
Uh, they put it in a pressurized chamber.
>> (39:14):
Yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna put it in a, uh,
yeah, a atmospheric, um, you know, uh,
chamber. I'm going to. So, I mean, that
sits in a.

Good ol’ Boy Bark: Brothel for two months.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (39:25):
Yeah. Called
Hoover's Whiskey.
>> (39:31):
Uh, well, that wasn't on the list, but thank you
for playing there. I appreciate that. You know,
but, you know, I guess the thing is, is, you know, is it,
is it adding or distracting? Is it. Is a
gimmicky, you know, is it falling into that category
if, if every filler was going to
taste much better if you multi sourced and blended
(39:51):
it, you know, a lot more heavily. Why is everybody
not doing that? You know, fair enough. And,
um, and what's kind of drawing them in to do that?
And I thought that all of your, you know, some of your
comments would, you know, whoever they're using,
you know, as primary construction, may this, that may be
their mark. That may be, you know, their thing, their identity, which is
(40:11):
I, you know, the only way I achieve a great filler is to use, you
know, two or three blends, right? And
you know, maybe that's just.
That could be very, you know, um, iconic,
that sets them apart, um, and lets them
produce something that's very Unique. That not a whole lot of people are
doing because, you know, I can't begin to tell you
(40:32):
how many. How many combos do we have
where the only difference is. Is the color of the band
at the end of the day.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (40:38):
Right.
>> (40:39):
And, you know, so I love the fact that this is
something that is not more of the same. So if it
sounds like I'm complaining about it. Um, exactly. Quite
the opposite. I'm actually trying to say thank you
for doing something.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (40:52):
Genuine curiosity.
>> (40:53):
100, you know, um, is it innovative?
I don't know. Um, but, you know, it's definitely not more
of the same. So. Thank you.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (41:00):
Yeah.
>> (41:01):
For. For.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (41:02):
I definitely love the, uh, the multi filler.
Um, I love that aspect, like, gives you just
different choices, man. Different.
>> (41:09):
Yeah, but we've.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (41:10):
It makes the flavor profile not always the same as your
typical Maduro or Habano.
>> (41:16):
Yeah. But we've had some sticks that. I'm thinking of one that we
actually had that had seven different tobaccos in it, and it was
not good.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (41:23):
Uh, let me just. You're thinking of one that you had
with seven different tobacco leaf.
>> (41:28):
So I'm not.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (41:29):
I told you was probably gonna suck,
and it did.
>> (41:33):
But I'm not saying it was beautiful, though. I'm not. It
was. It was the most gorgeous wrapper I've ever seen.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (41:38):
He fell in love with it.
>> (41:40):
I really appreciate it. Um, you
know, more is not always
better, but I do think that there is
room in there for looking at how can
you make things, you know, better, um,
balanced, you know, and borderline, uh,
complex, you know, without really cooking. Yeah.
You know, why do you have to use one style of sugar? Use a little
(42:02):
demerara, use a little white sugar. You know, use
a bit of honey.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (42:06):
What?
>> (42:06):
You know, is the whole world only balanced on one
style of sugar? No, it's not.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (42:10):
Well, the south is but one.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (42:12):
And another feather in their cap there at
Warfighters. Even though I, uh, feel like they're being a
little, you know, exploratory with the. With the
filler blends that they're going
for, um, that
construction is rock
solid.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (42:29):
Yeah, absolutely.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (42:30):
And so that's a. That's a big testament to.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (42:32):
It's not a wasted adventure.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (42:34):
Well, in the way that they're blending those tobaccos together, they burn great.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (42:37):
Yeah, the.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (42:38):
The. The burn line's incredible, which has a lot to
say about the filler tobaccos
and the way that that construction runs all the way through. So
I think that, you know, maybe they've kind of. Maybe
they nail on the head there and kind of figured something out from a
construction perspective.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Whatever they're doing, they need to keep doing.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (42:55):
Let's put it, uh, yeah, keep doing it, guys.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: For sure. It's good.
So we're going to move to the 50, uh, Cal Garrison
Maduro. And I'm going to be reading that.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (43:02):
Uh, he's going to try too many words.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (43:05):
Words have been hard today, and I apologize. But,
uh, so their, their thoughts on this
cigar is a dark, bold, double or black
Maduro. Strong leather, earth tones
complemented by spice and pepper.
Can pick up some sweetness, but subtler
than field, despite
strength. Has a buttery note.
(43:27):
It is, uh, made in Estelli, Nicaragua,
with a wrapper with a habano oscuro maduro from
Honduras. Uh, binders, Connecticut from
Honduras. The filler is Habano omtepe, um,
from Nicaragua, and Habano Esteli,
Nicaragua.
>> (43:43):
Um, and one more. Habano leguero.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (43:46):
Oh, it's on the back page. Oh, oh, oh. Habano
leguero from Condega, Nicaragua. Thank
you, sir, for catching that.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (43:54):
Set, uh, those documents up to have narrow margins.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (43:57):
Um, we'll talk about it in post.
>> (44:01):
Yeah, yeah. The first thing that jumped out to me was, you
know, there was. Somebody
said the word, you know, maduro and beefy and all these.
Ah, no. Did, uh, just, you know,
I'm like, uh. Did I like
the cigar? Without reading the description?
Yes, but, you know, in the
howls of a really complex Maduro. No,
(44:24):
definitely not.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (44:25):
Um, so I found it to be a milder Maduro as well.
>> (44:28):
Exactly.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (44:29):
Which is great. I, um, was kind of hoping the
oscuro would pop in and smack me in the face
with some pepper. Um, it didn't really show
up.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (44:38):
I'm waiting.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (44:40):
Yeah. But it was a subtle pepper
to me, which is kind of consistent to what they've, like the
spicier and subtle notes, uh, I've, uh, had of
all their cigars so far has just been subtle. It's
like subtle little hints of this and subtle little hints of that.
>> (44:54):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (44:54):
Nothing that really slapped me in the face like, oh, my God, that's
pepper. You know, it's just like, oh, you
know, I, I picking that up. Yeah, that's.
>> (45:02):
I mean, if somebody said, I want a wimpy maduro, boom, um, this would
be.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (45:05):
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't
put it as a wimpy, but I wouldn't put it as a strong either.
I think it's a good mild maduro.
Um, I would honestly smoke this cigar every
day. Like, I like this hot dog. Yeah, you
would, huh? Huh? Yeah, I would.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (45:21):
For me, it was, it was, you know,
uh, not the expectation that I
had for something that. That reads, you know, double
Maduro. Right. And, and you expect those
big blasts of, uh, coffee and
cocoa.
>> (45:36):
Not gonna happen.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (45:37):
Right. Uh, all those, you know, dark caramelized sugars that you
normally get for something. And. But it was, it was, it was
very, like medium bodied, you know, still
the big smoke, still a great construction. Little, uh,
bits of like hazelnut and kind of nuttiness. The,
the spice didn't really come through for me on the oscuro.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (45:54):
Sure.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (45:55):
Um, even on the retro, which is normally where I pick up a lot of
those.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (45:58):
Right.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (45:58):
Spicy notes to be a bit more prominent.
Um, but this, this is also something
for me I'd, uh, really like to revisit in a smaller
ring gauge.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (46:08):
Yeah, no, for sure. I think a petite Corona or something would be
really good in that.
>> (46:11):
Yeah.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: So, yeah. And a Maduro for me is,
um, you know, I like a Maduro if it's done
well. It's not necessarily something I
reach for every day, but I, I have
to agree. 100. This was just kind of so. So for me.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (46:26):
Okay.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: It wasn't really anything that, um.
>> (46:29):
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (46:29):
Well, let's write them up. We'll give it a three.
So what do you guys think about the line?
Let's get a little outro.
>> (46:40):
I like the veteran play in blending. You know,
there's some other, you know, veteran, you know,
LED cigar companies as well.
And, and I, you know, I
like the simplicity of what they're doing. So,
um. And we didn't have anything that
was bad.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: No.
You know, that was the one thing that was very consistent,
(47:00):
you know, is it wasn't a roller coaster ride. It wasn't like, oh, well,
these two sticks are great and these three suck, you know.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (47:06):
Yeah.
>> (47:06):
Um, so, uh, you know, it's a great,
solid. You know, this is a very good gift
buy is 100%.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (47:13):
Yeah. This is the one that you go and you buy a handful of when
you're going to that bottle share. You're. You're going to
golf, hang out at the golf course. Right. You're going to meet up.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: You got a marine buddy, you got an army buddy.
Yeah.
>> (47:25):
One of these day. And you want to tell them, you know, thanks.
You know, this is from your, you know, your other brothers in arms.
Yeah.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (47:31):
Also, uh, a brand to get into if you're just getting into
cigars. I think this is a good, you know,
gateway into some of the things out there.
>> (47:39):
I agree with that.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (47:40):
Have a lot more complexity, a lot more strength. It's
a, it's a way that you can get into cigars. It's not going to
knock you down from the, the strength from a
nicotine perspective of the cigar.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (47:50):
And the price points are pretty good too.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (47:52):
Really solid baseline and, and I can't say enough
packaging's there. Branding is there for them.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: When we already talked about the construction, that's, you know, that's
important too because you're not going to waste your money and get something that's
you're going to have.
Yeah. You're gonna feel like it's money well spent.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (48:06):
Right.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (48:07):
Uh, these, these things are going to burn clean all the way through. You're going to have a great
experience with them. And supporting these
veterans that are making these cigars I think
is icing on the top.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (48:17):
Yeah. So that's, that's important. Again, you know, from,
from Sip, Susan smokes to you guys at War Fighter. Man. Thank you
guys. Thank you so much, so much. And then thank you for letting
us allowing us to do this lineup. And uh, I look
forward to what's next. That's, that's
exactly what I'm affixing to say. I'm really looking forward to next
year PC or this year PCA to
(48:38):
see what they got coming.
>> (48:38):
I wonder if they'll stick with this whole, you know, 33 filler
blend.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (48:42):
Yeah, yeah, it's very possible, but. All
right, well, I just want to say goodnight and uh, have everyone have a
good day. But uh, Rich.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Hey, don't let the bastards get you.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (48:51):
Down, Benjamin Smuggle if you got them.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (48:53):

Good old boy Barger man telling you guys to keep on smoking no
matter what it is.
>> (49:12):
Really? Would you smoke like.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (49:14):
Well, not like drugs but like, you know, smoke
often? I mean early. I
would smoke early.
>> UnidentifiedGood ol’ Boy Benjamin+++ Benjamin
Good ol’ Boy Bark: Smoke off.
I would, I would smoke all the above.
>> (49:23):
Were these cigars better in your left hand or your right hand?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (49:26):
Either.
>> (49:26):
Pick one.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (49:27):
One. The left handed cigar.
>> (49:29):
Are you sure about that?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (49:30):
Who was it that had the left handed cigar? We did that, didn't we? The left
hander.
>> Good ol’ Boy Benjamin (49:35):
Uh, that's a, that's a whole different conversation.
>> (49:37):
Requires a good British accent. Only if
you hold it in your left hand.
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (49:42):
Yeah.
>> (49:42):
Is it going to be heav proper?
>> Good ol’ Boy Barker (49:45):
That's right.
