Speaker 1 (00:00):
What is going on? Everybody? Welcome to strike up here
quick beer reviews with your pals. On WRAPI Dave wrapping day.
I'm allan how much? How you doing pretty good? I
got another big one. Okay, it's one of these nineteen
point two ouncers. So this one is Rogue Imperial Wait
Rogue Brewing Dead Guy Imperial in impalel nine point six percent.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Boy, uh, dead Guy Imperial I p A is not
for the faint of heart. This enormous and balanced Imperial
ip A will bury your taste buds and hoppy revel
from the first sip right till the bitter end.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Boy nine point six.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I'll call by volume forty IBus. I ever score three
point seventy nine out of five on untapped out of
four thousand, eight hundred ninety five eight.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Get some We're gonna let it. I'm gonna get some
head on this. Yeah, we're gonna let it. Perfect a
little bit y ggy. Yeah. I just wanted to smell it,
you know what I mean? The aromics and except the
aromatics brewed by Rogue what is it? Rogue Newport something

(01:03):
Rogue in the Newport organ established in nineteen eighty eight.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
This is one of the first, like not this one
in particular, but from this brewery.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Like, Rogue Dead Guy Ale is one of.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Like the biggest beers that like I first had, really right,
because all of their beers are a little bit high
on the EBV scale, And I think that Rogue Dead
Guy Ale was the first one that was like one
of the first big beers that I had.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
You do it?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, Yeah, I love the I love the little Dead guy,
the little skeleton logo.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
They have him on all of their beers. I like them.
I celebrate his entire catalog, you know. There you go. Oh,
that smells happy, so damn happy.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
It makes it gives me butterflies and my telling, God.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
That's so good.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
It's nice and happy. It's got that little bit of
the bitterness that flavor.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Flavor. Color. Yeah, I love that color. Nice head on it.
That's a hard porto color. Yeah, man, that's delicious. Yeah,
wutch of little micro bubbles. So the head on it's
not exactly paper wide or anything like that, but it's
pretty close. Maybe a super light light tan, but the

(02:30):
color that yellow, it's a nice.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Color, like a nice color. I think Paul Arnold said
it best when he said I like this, okay with
two exclamations.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Are you watching you read untapped?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, just you know, just it's a super happy beer.
What's the IBus on it?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
They are forty forty forty not terrible, not too high
enough to let you know that, hey, we're here. Well
a beer like this, you're already drinking at nine point
six percenter. You know you're gonna have a little bit
of there's not a lot of There's not like a
burn or anything like that. It's a pretty balance. It's
I like, it's smooth.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Up front, the bitterness, and it gets you in the jowls, right,
it just kind of hangs around.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah, smells great, smells very hoppy. What kind of what
kind of humps that they use? You picking up any of? What?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
It's anybody could even know that, you know. I mean,
I guess I could look it up on the internet.
It's definitely not one of your juicy ones, you know
what I mean or whatever. It's kind of like a
piney of sticky uh smell and taste to it, right,
it's more of that more of that variety. It's not tropical,

(03:38):
you know what I'm saying. Yeah, man, when I started
drinking I PA. So I was like, all right, I
mean either you get you know, you go hazy, or
you like a juicy I p A or whatever. Tropical
that's one of my favorite two, Like a juicy I
p A. I like the tropical fruits and stuff like that.
And then but if when they mix certain hops and

(03:59):
what do you get the sticky little py the earthy
tones and whatnot.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Even Beer Advocate doesn't have the hot profile, which they
usually will.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
That's what you're getting with this one. So it's not
this isn't a juicy or fruity I p A. It's
a just a more like it, you know, like I said,
a pine.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Uh, little piney, little piney, A little piney, little piney,
piney piney.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Obviously we're mo like mowing right through them. We've been plowing.
H Yeah. Their website doesn't have it keeping themselves. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Uh, they are saying they're more on the tropical side
of things. Yeah, they have like a little star here
where it's like malt tropical citrus pine or bigger, and
it's all point, it's all up in the tip and
tropic the tip.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, I would say this one is more piny than anything.
Uh no, they they disagree with you. I don't care.
That's more tropical tropical? What flavors like? What is it?
What's so tropical like like Hawaii? You know tropical. I
don't gonna be any tropical flavor.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
On the well, apparently you don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I mean that's not I mean, look at the star.
It's very clear. It's between tropical and citrus. Citrus has
an extra little flying on it. I don't have any
other no citrus. It's it's got. It's just like a
tip pointing towards pine. But it's it's full rock hard
in for me, it's all pine.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Okay, well it's rock hard the pine.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Well come the track out bearer rapidaive doesn't know what
flavors are. You didn't say you said, you didn't say
shit either about it. I said I got tropical flavors.
No you don't. Okay, you did not rewind the tape yet,
coved and check it out. It's delicious, though, I want
to finish it. I like it. It's good. That's really good.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I enjoy that.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
That is, but I love a good I p a right, Yeah,
an imperial is pretty. I mean with it being an
imperial at nine point six. It's not boot it's not
you don't have any alcohol, bur or anything like that
that's affecting like the taste. It's actually really good. Kind
of reminds me of like a West Coast I p
a little bit, you know what I mean, where it's
a little bit higher on the bitter end.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
A little bit.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
I think the West Coast is going to be a
little bit more bitter, a little bit higher. Yeah, a
little bit more, a little bit higher on the IBus.
That's what it reminds me of.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
But all in all, really delicious. I'm at like a
I'm a big I p a guy, Well you were
just four. I'm going like a four to two five
on this.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
I really enjoy this.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
I really do.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Never scores three.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Point seventy nine, so I'm a little I'm above the average, but.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Yeah, a little. I really enjoy I p a we gotta.
I'm thumbs up for sure. I've had before. I try
to give me a number three point five, three point
seven five because that's not tropical, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Well, the guys who brewed no have no idea what
they're talking about, and it's all about what rapid aim.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Were looking. We already looked it up. I pulled it
up on their website. This is from their internet. Do
you taste any mango or pineapple, maybe passion fruit? Is
it passion fruit or guava? It's not citrus. I'm not
gett anything. Say it CRUs. It was pointing more towards
citrus than multi. So or are you thinking it's Do

(07:20):
you think you're getting any mango or pineapple or passion fruit? Yeah,
I would say, I would say passion fruit. Yeah, well
little gives you a juicy profile and that, and then
pineapples a little, but you're.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
You're not getting juicy notes with a pine taste.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
I don't get any juice. That's what I'm saying. It's
a pine I'm getting juicy. It makes my mouth water.
It's good, I know. I like that. So definitely a thumb.
The last thing to make my mouthwater like this is
your mother. What about you, guys? What makes your mouthwater
like this? Let us know? Was it this beer or
was it already's mom? As always, I'm out talk

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
