Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome to strike up beer quick beer reviews with your
pals on and Wrapiday for rapa day.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Alan.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
How's it going, buddy, It's fine, it's fine, everything's fine.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
First beer of the night, man, I'm so excited. Oh man,
let's go, and I chose a big one.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Look at that.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
That's a Vegas beer, right, that's a bigin. So we
got Shiner Shockwave massive cant here. This is a strawberry
lemonade shandy beer brewed with a gave and with lemon
and natural flavors added.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Get any information on this, I got a little bit.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Shiner Shockwave Strawberry Lemonade shandy is a bold twist on
the classic shandy, marrying Texas grown strawberries with a vibrant
lemonade for an unexpectedly smooth, fruit forward experience.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
It is wow.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yes, that smells delicious.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
It smells like strawberry lemonade.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I saw this over at I got this from I
think Lone Star because they had their little case that
has like the big ones in nineteen point two.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Yep, this is like twenty four ounces. I gotta be right.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
It's a begin one pint. It's a this is one
pint eight fluid ounces. All right, didn't I be used
spotsor Texas or spotsor Brewerings Shanner Texas Shanner Shock with
a percent alcoba volume.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
And this is a newer one for them. There's only
one hundred and fifty one total check ins on this. Yeah,
it's kind of an average score of two point ninety
four out of five out of one hundred.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
And thirty ratings. Doug in this thing for it.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Well, I guess we're getting ready to find out.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
We will investigate. It does have a little red hue
to it on the color. Yeah, just a little bit,
little bit, a little just a little hair, you know what. There,
let me get let me get a little wet, a
little bit more to pour in there. Bro, this is
too damn. This is too damn. Beers right here say
that like it's a bad thing.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
It's not bad. It's not bad at all. There we go,
all right, a little bit more foam for you.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I love it can the can art. I'm there for it,
look at all. Yeah, a lot of a lot of
stuff going on. Usually I don't like busy cans like that,
but that's fine.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I like busy cans.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yeah, let's have some fun.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Cheers, y'all. I was like, are we doing it? I
was gonna take you to the house. But that's a
front yard type thing. That's pretty damn good.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
What's that aftertaste that the Yeah, because upfront you definitely
get the strawberry with a little bit of lemonade.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
It's gotta be the gave a little bit. That's pretty
tasty though.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
But yeah, obviously this thing is crushable. But yeah, it
has a little bit of an aftertaste. I gotta close
that window again. Remember we used to have like the
band and the marching band walk by.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah, they're doing that during the Christmas.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah, this is okay.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I mean I get why, I get why it could
be under a three, and I think it's because people
don't like the aftertaste. Okay, right, uh, but you're right.
The color it does have a little touch of that
that red and a little touch just the hair. It's
like perfect clarity. I think the carbonation was great. You
saw me hard pour both of them.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah, very smooth.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I mean I'm almost done with it.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, I took it to town really Yeah, but yeah,
I think obviously the smell.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
You get a lot of strawberries. It's over.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
It smells like strawberry lemonade.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, but you get strawberry up front. And like I said,
just a touch maybe an time lemonade.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Oh buddy, I would be mixing that with like, uh,
with vodka and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
They'll get you drunk. It's like put anything, but will.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
They used to have we had like some blueberry vodka
in the fridge, okay, And so Lizzie went We went
to Total Wine and Lizzie was already tipsy and they
were set up on the weekend.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
You want to try this, So she's trying. Yes, And
so if we.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
End up buying some some blueberry vodka, some lemonade mixers,
bitters or.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Something like that, because it tastes it tastes like blueberry lemonade.
It's delicious.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
And so she brought this crap and she gets home
and I'm like, yeah, you remember how to make it.
She's like, well I figured I was like, nah, you
figured wrong.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I wasn't paying attention.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, so but yeah, needless to say, all the same
stuff that's in the fridge been sitting there ever since.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Sure you could look it up on the internet.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Well yeah, I feel like I'm not your bartender.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
But anyways, Yeah, any like blueberry or lemonade or lemonade
or strawberry lemonade, anything with like that spiked.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
That's pretty good. It's pretty pretty good. This is pretty good.
I guess I'll just go ahead and finish this. What
is it? Did I say it was an ale? It's
a rattler sandy.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
That's a shandy, that's right. Oh yeah, lemonade shandy. Yeah, yeah,
I think that's why I picked it up. I go
one more before it's to get too cold outside. I think,
you know, it's still nine degrees around here. So I
was like, one more, we're goin to finish it for
the road.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, here's model good things.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
I'm at like a three.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
You know you?

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Okay over there?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
You have the bubble?

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Should I punch you in the chest?

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Real quick?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Got it? Here?

Speaker 1 (04:48):
We go?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
All right?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
It did? I think I took like a little breath
or something. I was drinking. I think I was watching videos,
watching how to chug like this is like five years ago,
six years ago.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
I go.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I was like, I'm gonna I'm gonna perfect this. You
know where they were like, expel all the air out
of your lungs and then just kind of open up
your just go you don't know whatever.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I's like, all right, sweet.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
So now when I wait, even in the morning, like
when I get up my gout, I'm gonna slam some
water as I'm getting up out of bed.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
It's like I do that. I get the bubble morning,
like five forty five. I'm like, this sucks. I used
to know how to drink I used to know how
to drink water, and now I can't even drink water anymore.
No man, idiots, Yeah such moron. Yeah yeah they Yeah,
it's in my head. It's in my head.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
So but yeah, it can definitely gets a little bit
of love, a lot going on there. You get some lime,
strawberries or lemons, excuse me, strawberries. But yeah, I think
I think the only drawback on this is like the
asher taste that A gave that's in there. I think
it could be it could go without it and it
would be a much higher rated beer. Okay, you know
most shandies are like that, a right, They're real sweet.

(05:52):
There's no crazy asher taste. It's a spiked lemonade for
the most part so, but the thumbs up.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. Have you had
the Shiner shock wave? Has it given you the shocker?

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Let us know.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
As always, I'm Allen, i'mar We'll talk to you later.

Speaker 1 (06:06):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
