locks and loaded.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Here we go. Ay, another rendition of the Big Mo Podcast.
That you're back. So last time you were back, you
went on another vacation. You're you're you're trying to imitate
Louise Hulker here, aren't you? So you're gonna be gone
next week?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Right?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I'm in.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
I'm in now until the next week till July.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
You know, I kid, because I think what getting away
from here in the summer months is a priority. I've been.
I've told you off the air, I've done this long
enough to sustain the energy and everything we got to
bring every week throughout the school year. And not just us,
I mean anybody that works in a school. You gotta

(00:53):
get away a little bit and check out. I'm glad
you did that this summer.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Yeah, it was, it was. It was an eventful July
to say the least. But you never You're never away
from it though. Man, we've talked about it. We almost
you know, we have we're right around thirteen thousand living alumni,
and the fact that any one of them can call
it any given time, call you, call me whatever, And
we're constantly planning. I'm really excited about our upcoming academic

(01:21):
year with everything that we're trying to accomplish, new events
that we're going to bring, old events that we're bringing back,
and it just takes a lot of planning and our
team is awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I had a parent text me at eleven thirty Sunday night,
and then on Monday morning, this parent texted me again
and said, you never responded to me. I said, they
allow us to take Sunday nights off from ten to midnight.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Sorry about that, And I told you and I know
it's I try to go eight to eight. Man, you know,
don't don't call me before eight am. We're not caring cancer.
We're not we're not EMTs, we're not police, we're not
fire You know, it's tough, and we we do want
to respond in a timely. Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Family, I am an EMT firefighter. You actually AMT card expired,
but I'm still a firefighter technically, but go ahead.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
But it's uh, you know, it's it's awesome. It is
a very very when you think about it, it's heavy man,
it's it's a it's a big weight, uh and it's
a good weight. It's it's it's awesome. It's alumni engagement,
it's molar community engagement, and people are excited about you know,
when they contact they have questions, you know, how do

(02:33):
we do this, where do we go for that?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
What do we do?

Speaker 4 (02:35):
And they're just a lot of them maybe incoming freshman
parents that don't know any better, which.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
By the way, we tomorrow I have Adam Holstein, he'll
be in studio. You mentioned freshman coming freshman parents. I
have Adam Holstein, who's the incoming UH school captain, who's
going to be in this space in the studio that
we're in now talking about what those families can expect
when they come to Moler. So very excited to get
I'm hosting on here to talk about just that.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Yeah. And they you know, admissions with Katie and Angie
and Tim, they do a great job of that transition.
They have those parent meetings you know, what to expect
your freshman year. You know, they have those meetings for
the freshman parents sophomore, junior, senior, and Moeller does an
awesome job of leading parents and students through their four

(03:25):
year experience. And you know, it's our job to continue
to keep them in this Moller community after their four years,
including the parents. You know, I've I've had so many
people reach out to me and I promise you this
is on our radar about a dad's club. You know,
Louise Holker does a great job with the Mom's Club.

(03:45):
When I was a student here, my dad was was
a member of the Muller's Dad's Club. That is something
that we are looking to bring back into the fold
and have some Dad's Club events. But we need help.
So if you're a past parent, ask father or reach
out to me. We love to help with some ideas
and some concepts of bringing the dads back together, the

(04:09):
dads and the sons back together. We're going to do
the father son Mass again in February, so we're bringing
that back with a father son mass breakfast. And now
we're in third generation, so you've got grandfather, father and son.
It's just awesome.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
There used to be a time I have to remind
myself this. There used to be a time when I
first got here, that you didn't get any calls and
you didn't get any emails. So you know the fact
that to your point that people are engaged, they it
matters to them. I mean, it is a it's a
good problem to have people care about this place, and
it's it's very very cool.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Be patient. We're not going to forget about you promise,
not intentionally correct intentionally.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
We have a lot to talk about because I want
to I definitely want to hit all the things coming
up with our regional trips that really evolved frankly around
football in the different places. We're going to go talk
lean a little more into that on the show. But
first we have two big guests. I will say that
we originally had Norm Charlton the Nasty Boys scheduled today.

(05:11):
Norm called us last night and said, can we push
that back to Thursday, which is tomorrow. So we'll have
a standalone special presentation with Norm Charlton tomorrow. But we're
going to talk about the Stag. We're gonna talk about
the regional events and the reunion events coming up at
the end of the show. But we have on this
show Doug Rossveldt talking Cincinnati Bengals and he is getting

(05:34):
ready to board a flight to Philadelphia. The boys are
going to be in Philly for the first preseason game
of the year. Doug Rossveldt, who Zach Taylor's right hand man,
is going to dial in shortly. And then we also
have Greg Shoemaker from Tri Statefootball dot Com talking high
school football, the teams he expects to be on top,
and maybe we can get him to give us the
top five or maybe top ten or six something like

(05:57):
that for the upcoming pre He's in rankings that Blitz
five and Tri Statefootball dot Com should be releasing by
the end of this week. So we have an action
pack show. He's Andy Nago, I'm Big Mo Barritt.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Hey, you forgot your very important guests.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Hey, Joe Ruper said he's going to pop in here,
so we're going to try to get Joe Rupert in
here as well. We have an action packed show for you.

(08:12):
Molar from the class of.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Ninety seven. I wasn't real sure, Doug Rossfeld.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
I'm not real sure.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
I had a double check out. I think Doug's ninety seven.
We're gonna bring Doug on now talking little Cincinnati Bengal
football and the Molar connections, there were minus one connection.
Now with Sam moving on, Doug is about ready to
board up ninety seven. You were right, Dougie was right. Doug.
You're about the border plane to Philadelphia. Are you at
the airport yet?

Speaker 6 (08:39):
No, we are here and I am proudly nineteen ninety seven.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
I was right, Coach, I was right.

Speaker 6 (08:45):
He was that great, like Joe Oscar and Ryan Murphy,
some of the great.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Murph Murphy is a regular listen listener to the Big
Mo podcast. So we'll appreciate that shout out. Have we
signed Trey Anderckson yet? Let's get right to the ball.
I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding, Doug. I'm not gonna
I'm not gonna ham me.

Speaker 6 (09:04):
That's on my side of the shop. I'll be the
first one to admit it.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
That's a good way to dodge that.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Hey, Doug, this is the time of year. Fans in
Cincinnati love Man Cincinnati Bengal football. And for folks maybe
listening to the podcast that don't know you, or of
you or your personal connection to Moler. You're ninety seven
grand and currently what is your official title down there
with the Bengals. I always forget it.

Speaker 6 (09:31):
I'm the chief of staff down here.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Chief of staff, you're basically Zach Taylor's right hand man,
and you throw the red flag when they need a replay.
That is that your primary function? Optically Optically from the fans.

Speaker 6 (09:45):
It's why I've been throwing so many footballs in the
backyard and this offseason trying to get that thing ready.
I'm going to try and I can't tell you how
many times I have watched Brent Suter pitching so I
can get a good suitor impersonation when I throw a
flag out late this year.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
When you say impersonation, suits is the man. He is
the master impersonator. Doug from the chief of staff down
there with the Bengals. What is before we talk a
little bit about this Bengals team, it's kind of what's
your day to day operations?

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Like, well, I think the first thing is making sure
that our system operates with precision. You know, that's the
big one. Making sure that we all are moving, not
all of our oars are in the water at the
same time, rowing the same direction, but making sure that
we all have exactly what.

Speaker 7 (10:29):
We need in order to operate with precision.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
Do you like to say that you want to be
a fish in or you want to do anything it takes,
But really for us, we want to be surgical in
our precision and do exactly what it takes. So we've
got a good plan, We've got great leadership from upstairs.
Zach is an unbelievable boss and leader of this program.
And then we've got great leadership in the locker room.
So a lot of the times it's just trying to
promote the culture that's here, trying to give the guys

(10:54):
everything that they need to be successful, but then making
sure that we're moving in the right direction with every
single step, every single effort that we put forward, it's
all for the purpose of winning games.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
I mean, you're doing a lot of stuff off the field.
You could make an argument kind of like a director
of football ops at the collegiate level, off the field
to make sure practices are executing at a high level
to make I mean, you're you're doing all the little
things that make the big things happen. Is that fair?

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Yeah, We've got a great director of football Operations and
Jeff Brickner. He takes care of all like all of
our meals. He's a file graduate in the lifelong bangal
So yeah, those I know for young lancers over there. No,
he's awesome. I always give him crap anytime that more
plays and diesel style just let him know. You know

(11:42):
how it roll runs into GCL.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
But you your job's easy in that department.

Speaker 6 (11:49):
And We've got a lot of young guys that are
great in our quality control making sure that the looks
that we need are there.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
I do.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
I have some operational making sure that the coaching side
of things that xs ands are aligned. I've got some
opponent preparations and game day responsibilities. Last year I was
presenting to the team on Fridays we called situational masters,
so I got to address particular moments in games that
are unique to our clock with the two minute warning,

(12:16):
certain situations about the nuances of rules and possessions. So
I got to present to the team last year each
Friday for a few minutes and really enjoyed that. So
it's been an evolving role down here. It's been a
chance to kind of grow professionally myself, but also be
around the guys in different ways and help the organization anyway, Cam.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
You guys are getting right ahead to Philadelphia first preseason
game of the year. What's today look like? You know,
obviously you're born in a flight. Are these preseason games?
You got to do them? But is it one of
those things you guys look at and just kind of
hold your breath, or is especially now with everybody talking
about Joe Burrow getting some additional reps in the preseason

(12:55):
that'll hopefully get him a little more aligned with his
receivers as you kick off the year. Or are these
games just like bug a boot You gotta do them,
but you really, you really would just like to get
the week one. What's your mindsets as a coach on
this team.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
Well, I think for different teams in different years that
means different things. But for us this year, with a
start fast mentality, we're looking at this as a chance
to play the Eagles in the first game, especially the
first game at home since they won the Super Bowl,
so we'll have a great crowd. We expect a really
competitive game, and we're going out there trying to put
our best foot forward with a mindset of starting fast.

(13:32):
And look, we have big season goals, but they'd come
down to weekly performances, and so this is a big step.
This is a good first step for us. We anticipate
being competitive and that's what today has been so far.
We just ran through a mock version of a game
with our situations and down in distances and special teams
all kind of lining up to how it work out
in the game. Little extended and walk through and then

(13:53):
we're off. We had to hit the flight and hit
over to Philadelphia. We'll have meetings a little bit tonight,
more tomorrow morning, let the guys stup a little bit,
and then you're playing in the evening in Philadelphia, So
you know it's going to be a big one. The
last time we were there was in the throes of
coked and around week three of that COVID season they
started using crowd noise, but the first couple of weeks

(14:13):
it was dead silent in an empty stadium, and we
ended up tying them in a close one and uh
you could hear the other coaching staff calling things out
to the sideline.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
It was.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
It was more quiet than any game I ever coached
at you the All Saints. I mean, I've had a
flag football games that were that were louder than that game,
and uh no, that was I go back to it.
I think I got to be one of the few
guys in the in the coaching profession that has been
on coaching staffs at the flag grade school, high school, college,

(14:44):
and pro all in the same city.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
And so the last time that's so cool.

Speaker 6 (14:49):
Well, and so I can honestly say the last time
we were in Philadelphia, it was really a unique, really
unique experience. We're looking to get out there and get
afterm pretty hard and see you play and how we're
looking with.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
All the work we've coach.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Everybody knows about obviously the stars on this team, and
there's some big star power. I mean, some of the
best players in the NFL are here in Cincinnati. But
talk about some of the other players that we don't
know about, the new guys the drafts, maybe some you know,
some trades or some free agent pickups. Talk about some

(15:20):
of those players that you see could potentially make an
impact with the Bengals this season.

Speaker 6 (15:27):
Well, you'll get a chance to team all tonight. I mean,
we're going to get our starters out there to begin
the game, but our full roster is going to be
on display tonight. It's a great chance. Anyone's really interested
in football at the high school and college level and
really care about the guys that make up those teams
and become great, then these preseason games are a chance
to really see players that will eventually make the scout

(15:48):
teams and be on practice squad and you won't hear
much about them, but they won games for your alma mater.
They make your city proud when they were there when
they were younger. So throughout the NFL, including our game tonight,
really from like the second quarter or maybe second half on,
you'll get a chance to see some fantastic ballplayers like
Jamoy May's finished at the University of Cincinnati, so I'll

(16:10):
have a couple of Bearcats out the running around Tea
and Desmond Rider, you know. So as a UC guy,
that's great, and really it's what Carrington Valentine up at
the Packers his rookie season. He got a lot of
reps in the preseason and then we had a joint
practice with him and then he did great there. And
now all the things you're hearing about Carrington coming out
from the Packers is how much they can count on them,

(16:31):
how much he's grown. So uh yeah, those are the if.
Those are your guys at the college and high school level,
and they do make a difference, a significant contribute contribution
to your teams in the NFL. Man, tonight is the
night that you watch well.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
And it's it's amazing too, because like you said, those
are dudes at the NCAA level. Everyone on your rock,
you know, it's all.

Speaker 6 (16:52):
You'll see some of the guys in there when they
come out in the draft. You know that it's such
an odd time right now because some of the draft
kids have played six years in college due.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
To COVID rules, no kid, others.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Others are really young, you know, and they just need
a couple of years, especially some young linemen, they just
need a few more years and then all of a sudden,
you'll see it. Like a guy that comes to mind
as Ted Carriss who played in the league for a
while and really didn't see the field a whole bunch,
and then opportunity presenting itself, and you know now he's
one of the paramount leaders of our program. So yeah,
these are these are fun games, you know, they're they

(17:25):
get a little long at the tooth. I think everyone's
ready for the season to get rolling. Once the preseason starts,
you know, more plays and there's lots of commentary. But
I do think it's a really neat opportunity to see
some of these young guys that were just dynamite in
college and high school and we'll have a good NFL career.
You can see him run around to night.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Doug, You've always been a culture guy. I know that's
a word thrown around a lot, but you really are
a culture type guy, and you really just spoke about
having an opportunity. And so what's your message to a freshman,
a sophomore here mole, or an underclassroom, maybe even a
junior who's just waiting for that door to open, And

(18:03):
what's your message to these young guys about seizing that opportunity,
always being ready when that door opens, that you run
through it. Kind of talk a little bit about that,
because I think that speaks volume to a lot of
parrots right now that might be listening. Well.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
I was just a few months out of Moeler back
in ninety seven when I started playing for Rick Minnerd,
and I remember clearly the messages he gave the rookies
more reported, and he was speaking about this very thing.
He said that the door of opportunity will open itself,
but there'll be a time when it opens, but only
to those who are willing to kick it open and
do what it takes to force opportunity. And so I

(18:39):
think that it's difficult when you're in season to have
an off season mentality of grinding when no one's looking
really being relentless and given everything that you have, knowing
that your moment is it could be a month away,
it could be a year away. I think of Jake
Browning as another guy who is as a backup quarterback here.
His level of preparation is second to none. I mean,

(19:02):
he is dialed in as if he's going to go
out and get seventy plays himself, and when opportunities have come,
he has never fallen short. He's always performing at the
highest level. So it takes a certain kind of discipline.
It takes a lot of optimism. You know, you have
to have hope that the things in the future will
work out to you. And I think that's one of
the things that Molar instilled in me, was like just

(19:24):
the mindset that tomorrow, no matter how good today is,
tomorrow is going to be better. And if you have
that kind of hope and optimism in just your daily life,
then your preparation while you're waiting for opportunity will be
second to none. And so that's what I would tell him.
You know, force the issue, look for opportunities to jump in,
don't wait for opportunity to really grab you and yank

(19:44):
you into the moment. On your toes and your head
on a swivel, and you're looking for the chance to
go make a difference.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Doug, you're a proud band of Moeler. You're with a
winning franchise in the Cincinnati Bengals under the tutelage of
Zach Taylor. How proud are you are you of? You
know what mark el is done here and now Burt
Anthy and he's stepping in. I know you follow Moller closely, man.
It's it's good to be Doug Rossfeld and be associated
with and you can throw you see to make some

(20:11):
winning programs.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
Well, I was just texting the coaches on the first
day of practice.

Speaker 7 (20:15):
I follow closely.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
It's it's great because Jerry Montgomery, our defensive line coach
at Thunder, and his son now plays offensive.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Line, Jase, and he's a big dude.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
Yeah, I mean so, I mean as proud as I
am of Moller, Muller football, Muller rugby. You know, my
my baby is the more offensive line. So I'm always
checking in on those guys and following Michael Blum and
his amazing work. I've had Doug Horst, our religion teacher,
Steve Coleman they came down to practice. One of our
old pastoral ministry directors named Jim Elfer is a guy

(20:45):
that helped create this house system, to make it what
it was. I got to see him. He came up
for the first time in a while and I got
to see him.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
So thanks for less to be on measure. I'm just
the hey, speaking real quick before we let you go.
Speaking of that rugby team that you coach, the state
championship rugby team from twenty ten. We're going to be
celebrating that fifteen year anniversary at the Lassalle game homecoming.
Can we get a can we get a brief Doug

(21:13):
Rossfeld appearance at that game?

Speaker 6 (21:15):
Well, I threw that little rugby phrase out hoping.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Yet absolutely you're proud of that championship, brother man.

Speaker 6 (21:22):
I say it's the coolest state championship in the trophy.
You look at that Thing's believable, a swooping eagle. It
is absolutely unbelievable, awesome.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
And do you want me to call when we call
Zach and see if I can get your whole past
that Friday.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Night, Friday September twenty sixth.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Are you guys in town or yeah? Town? That day
I don't know. I don't know that.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
I don't looked at the calendar yet. Somebody. If I
can't make it, then let me somebody from the Rossvelt
family will be there. That is an unbelievable I was
so excited when I saw your email, and uh, those
are some of the greatest guys in Molar history. I
mean just the camaraderie that they formed h with the yearbook.
Year before, we get knocked out in the playoffs against

(22:02):
the Westernville Worms and came back with a vendetta and
went undefeated and won the state championship on the Columbus
Crew Stadium, And it was fantastic, and that group of
guys that were really accomplished turned the tide. It was
the next season in football where and a lot of
those guys were on the team. A lot of those
guys went in one state championships for John Rodenberg. We

(22:24):
went out there in won state championships the next two seasons.
So you know, there's a proud group of guys that
won in twelve and thirteen that were just puppies on
that two thousand and ten rugby team. So I'm crazy
prout of those guys. I'm really excited to see him.
I staying good contact with him, but I would love
to see him. I hope everybody comes out for Coach.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
You are at Denver on Monday night, September twenty ninth.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
You guys will still be in Cincinnati on that Friday night.
Correct Or how does travel work on Mondays?

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (22:54):
Oh yeah, it'll be a little bit later night here
down in the office, but I will make it for
some of it.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Coaches book them, book them, Dano, book them, Doug Crossfell
and I love you man, You're you're one of my
favorite dudes. When I told earlier in the show off
the air, it might have been that when I was
at another school, there was maybe one or two guys
that that accepted me for who I was, even being
at a rival school. You were one of them. And

(23:21):
we had you over there to talk about fatherhood and
some of the challenges and adversity that you face in
your life. You did a hell of a job speaking
to those guys. And uh, you've been You've been my
wingman for a long time, and I appreciate everything you
do to represent Big Mo. You're one of the best.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
No, I really appreciate the kind boys. Man you're a
dear friend of mine and Meggs. You guys been around
Muller you know is better as well as anybody. And
I trust you guys with this uh, with this podcast
so much. The alumni talk about it when you guys
aren't around, and it helps us stay in contact with
each other. And I always have respect for other GCL schools.
I think highly of of elder hired. A bunch of

(23:59):
older guys has to come over and the assistant coaches
on the more staff that I built in uh in
eighteen and my mom was a sole cheerleader and my
dad went to Saint X. Now they did get together,
and they did get together and decided to send their
sons to Molar. So you know they're also good decision makers.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Yeah, not bad. That's Doug Safe travels to Philadelphia. We'll
be dialed in watching the Bengalles whoop up on the Eagles.
Uh As that's tomorrow night, right tomorrow night, Thursday night,
So Doug have fun and uh hopefully maybe midway through
the season we can check back in and get a
full report talking about all the great stuff that has

(24:36):
happened with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 6 (24:38):
I'd be great, you guys, God blessed to give my best.
Everyone over at the Molar family and go big MoMA coach.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Good luck. That's Dougfel Class of ninety seven want to
thank Doug for joining us on the Big Mo Podcast.
He's the best Andy. I mean, he's he's always been
a culture guy and uh he's special, isn't he.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
He's so positive every you know you talk about We've
all had trials and tribulations in our lives, but the
way Doug has handled situations in his life, I've never well,
I shouldn't say that. There's there's a lot of positive
people that we surround ourselves with, but he is one
of them. He is a guy that when you see him,

(25:17):
he's big energy and man, you'd run a brick run
through a brick wall when you talk to Doug relse, run.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Through hell and a gasoline suit. That's one of my
favorite Pete Rose quotes. Hey, we're just getting started. Check
off Doug Rossveld from the Cincinnati Bengals lined up next.
We're talking high school football Greg Shoemaker tri State Football
dot Com. And I see Joe Rupert running around the school.
We might pull him in to talk about what he's
doing with March.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
He's looking for that green room and that rocker rib I.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
He likes the ribs, the green room furnished by Montgomery
and no doubt about that. Yeah, we'll talk about what
he's doing in March, which makes selfishly you and I happy,
very happy. We've got a big show. We're just getting started.

(27:45):
Move podcast Andy Nagel and I'm It's high school football season.
We talked in the last couple of weeks about soccer.
We also talked about what across country, but we're going
to focus on the word records. Hard to believe that
we're only sixteen days away? Is that right? Sixteen days
there at Milford that Friday night in a scrimmage here

(28:08):
at home. Come out when you can kind of check
out the early returns on Molar football this Friday at
the Jerry Freshman, JV and varsity all competing. I think
it's like four five and six something like that, maybe
four five point thirty seven, I don't know, something like that.
You can come out and check them out, and then
a week next week I think there. I know they're

(28:29):
in Masslin for their final tune up on the road
in Maslin. We'll talk a little bit later about why
they go to Masslin. I don't have to say now
they go to Masslin because yeah, is there other teams
you could scrimmage in town? Sure? But I know Mark
Elder was always a big proponent of this. Bird is
teaching these young guys how to because Molar travels, how

(28:49):
to get on a bus, how to go drive two
three four hours away, get off the bus and play
a football game. And for the young guys, they haven't
had an opportunity to do that, so that's a kind
of a great opportunity to teach him. Back in the
old days when coach Fous was there, you put your
helmet on here at Molar and you didn't take it
off until you after the tame he got back on

(29:11):
the bus. A little bit more lax now, but there
is a process to make that all happen well.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
And it's a you know, going to mass on it's
a walkthrough of traveling to a state tournament game or
a state championship game that's held at the Hall of
Fame Field over by McKinley. But you know, we did
the same thing when I coach at baseball here with
coach held, we would always the regional finals were always
played down at UC, and we would always make sure

(29:36):
that we practiced at you see that we at least
had one game at you see, so when our kids
took the field at UC in a regional semifinals, they
weren't looking around going, oh my.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Gosh, it wasn't the first time they were seeing it.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Correct. And that's a perfect dress rehearsal for what coach
Bathy and he does with the football team is making
that long drive. You know, I know they stop on
the way and the and they do all that kind
of stuff. But you know, it is a dress rehearsal
hopefully for the first weekend in December.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
It's gotta be a lot of fun. When you talk
high school football in Cincinnati, there's a couple guys I'd
like to point my finger to, you know, obviously with
the sinsin inquirir my guy Mike Dyer is one of
those guys. When you talk Tri state football tri statefootball
dot Com, the one guy you gotta think about is
the shoe. Greg Shoemaker from Tri State Football dot Com

(30:27):
had a chance a couple of weeks ago to catch
up with him on the sideline. He likes to get
out and about thought it'd be good to bring the shoe.
Greg Shoemaker, who really could have just walked here to
the studio, but he had a busy morning, he says. Greg.
Welcome once again to the Big Mo Podcast, the first
of what I believe will be many appearances on the

(30:47):
BMP this season.

Speaker 7 (30:48):
I'm glad to be back on with you.

Speaker 8 (30:49):
Guys.

Speaker 7 (30:50):
Have everything going over there in Molertown a.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Little better than you. You've had a rough morning. You're
flying with like one engine, I'm told buddy.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
The last two nights we've done kickoff shows over at
gold Star in Alexandria and West and we had I
think seven or eight nine teams over there. And then
last night about the Hamilton gold Star, we had seven
eight nine teams. North West, was in, Fairfield, was in
We did interviews with all these teams, Badeen, Hamilton, Taiwana.

(31:19):
So yeah, I had a busy night interview on a
lot of teams over the last two actually last two days.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
So that's why you get paid the big bucks. Yeah,
that's right after work at McDonald's at night, so we
can greg this is it. I mean I was talking
to actually, Mike Dyer was on campus yesterday. I was
able to catch up with Mike, and Mike made the
comment he said, Barrett, enough of the preseason. I just
want to get this thing under way so I can

(31:45):
get into a routine and get things rolling. I gotta
believe you're in that same space, right, Yeah, sort of.

Speaker 7 (31:52):
I mean, you know, it's a point where I'm still
I've been out for a long time at practices this year,
and to be quite honest with you, I still see
a lot of teams still incomplete with where they want
to be by the time the season starts. So I
sort of want to see where some more development. I've
seen a lot of teams so far this or talk

(32:13):
to a lot of teams so far this offseason, and
I feel like there's some, like I said, some incompleteness
to what they want to do before the season starts.
So I'm yeah, I'm sort of still hanging in there.
I've only to see the last two weeks of practice.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
I would venture to say, and I've been doing this
for a long time, maybe not as long as you.
You've been doing this in Samner double David. I've been
doing this for a long time. I would venture to
say that ninety nine percent of the high school football
teams out there would identify themselves each as incomplete at
this point. Anyways, But you're right, I mean there's still

(32:45):
two weeks of football. You look at the team like Moler,
you know, with Matt being out with his baseball commitments
and everything else like that, just getting reps. Two more
weeks of reps is a big deal.

Speaker 7 (32:56):
Right Yeah, absolutely, And there's a lot of teams like
that right now. So yeah, you know, I know what
Mike's saying. Yeah, he wants the season to start. It's
a long season.

Speaker 8 (33:06):
You know.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
We were talking about this a couple of weeks ago
when I was they're talking to you, you know, I mean,
sixteen weeks is a long time for high school football,
and it's sort of you got to you gotta pace yourself,
and and Mike and I always talk about this. By
week eight or nine, we're we're sort of spent and
by the time that that district finals or the regional
finals come around, it it's it's a long season. It's

(33:28):
it's it's you know, I mean, Molar's in a situation
now where they're going to be playing what forty five
fifty forty five games over the last three years. It's
it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Well, I'm tired. I told you that, extremely tired. But
not a lot of people are going to feel sorry
for us when you're playing that deep in the playoffs.
But uh, you know, you look at a football team,
the maturation process. I mean, this Mollar football team is young,
make no mistake about it. They are a football team.
And we'll talk more about Molar in a minute, but

(33:59):
I think they're a football team that is going to
get better as the season gets longer, for sure. But
take Moler out of the equation. Let's talk high school
football with teams not named Mohler. Who are some of
those teams that we can kind of look at. I
think you probably got the staples of Lakota West, right,
Satan Xavier. You know, you got those powerhouses that are

(34:20):
always going to be good. Who are some of the up,
up and coming teams? The teams that Greg Shoemaker and
Tri Statefootball dot Com has their eyes on the season.

Speaker 7 (34:30):
Well, you know we're gonna start over in the ECC.
Let's go with the Anderson and Wentton Woods Anderson loaded
on defense, they will start ten or eleven starters on offense,
will be juniors or sophomores. They got a running backer.
They got a bunch of transfers. They got a running
backer transfer from Milford and leading rusher at Milford last year.
They'll be a junior, got a couple mac offers. Davis

(34:52):
is his name, but the quarterback is going to be new. However,
he did throw for five hundred and sixty yards in
a backup role last year with a touchdown passes, So
that's not right.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
So the third ranked, the preseason, third ranked team in
the state. You think that's worthy.

Speaker 7 (35:10):
Well, I'll be quite honest with you. I think Lakota
West and Princeton are better than Anderson, And I'm not
too sure. Went was just right there, neck and neck
with Anderson. So where I'm at is Anderson went Woods
right there? That next column elder uh you know, elder
elder Man with that katiey stuff at quarterback.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
York Baby. So have you released the Blitz five tri
State football dot Com Top ten? Has that been dropped yet?
Has that?

Speaker 6 (35:40):
It has not?

Speaker 7 (35:40):
And it should be. It should be later this week.
But yeah, I'm actually that's what I'm staring at right
now as we're looking.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
So. So last year you threw us a boone and
you gave us some. You gave us a top five?
Are you willing right now on the b m P
Because you know, lonesome George Vogel, he's gone, he's not listening,
although we had on the show a couple of weeks
ago talking about the nasty boys. Do you have the
opportunity right now? Or you do have the opportunity, But

(36:08):
will you answer the bell and give us the top
five like you did last year?

Speaker 7 (36:13):
I will answer the Blitz five top twenty five one
them five. Number five is Anderson. I'll give Y'all'll even
give you number six because it's went was because Anderson
went was worser right there?

Speaker 2 (36:23):
All ten you got to get every year you always
want to give.

Speaker 6 (36:26):
I'll I'll leave it at six. I leave it at six.
So you're terrible, all right with six? Anderson five? Number
four Princeton.

Speaker 7 (36:34):
Now keep in mind at Princeton over the last four seasons. Uh,
they are forty two and nine, with six of those
losses of those nine losses being the Big Mo and
Lakota West. So Princeton's sitting at number four, behind of
course Lakota West, Satan Xavier at number two, and Moll
at number one. So yeah, so you know it is.

(36:58):
It is pretty much the way you would expect it
to rule up. But Mollar one X two, Bus three
Princeton for and then of course two East. It's funny
it's it's two GCL South teams followed by two GMC
teams followed by two ECC teams.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
So are you are you concerned about Moehler's youth, especially
on defense.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
No, not so much on defense. You know, Cruzo is great.
I think, uh, the kid in the backfield, Uh, the
junior Middleton, He's going to be fantastic. He's the one
I think is a rising star and he's gonna start
getting his offers here Middleton. Yes, I think he's going
to be a breakout season for him, a real big

(37:44):
breakout season for him. I do think the offense is
built now for November football.

Speaker 6 (37:51):
With the big guys you had they're.

Speaker 7 (37:52):
Young upfront, but they they've got that's going to be
protected as well as he's ever been protected. And blue
Dust session and blue Dust gotch a great job with
those guys. They're going to be well prepared.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
I will tell you that it is a new unit
for all the way across the front. They do have
some size. I think you're going to see Sue in
my opinion, you're going to see a young offensive line again,
very talented, so don't hear what I'm not saying. Very talented,
but it's going to take them some time to gel
And what Michael Blum has done a great job of

(38:24):
over the years is getting these guys every week just
getting a little bit better. So I think they're gonna
I think they may struggle a little bit as a
unit out of the gate, but you're going to see
them get stronger throughout the years. And Michael Blum has
a has a history of doing just that.

Speaker 7 (38:40):
Yeah, he's a very good coach. You know, just a
star over there. Well, you've got a lot of assistance
over there. They were just excellent assistance, you know, you
know Conscious and Armaan and you know Michael. I mean,
those guys are just a great guy. I mean, those
guys are those guys are all capable and have been
capable of being head coaches or have than head coaches

(39:00):
before in the past. So yeah, I mean, you know,
you're away as good as your your people you surround
yourself with. And Bert's definitely done a good job there
with his staff.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Hey, Greg, you talked about Princeton already. Obviously Mollar's schedule
is ridiculous, but touch on some of these schools. Obviously,
you know every school on this schedule is a state
champion caliber type program type school. I mean, you got Trinity,
uh at home, We're going to see PA down in Nashville.
But but talk about I mean you got eyes and EDGs,

(39:30):
you know, talk about the landscape of Ohio high school football.
Maybe those Northern teams are the central teams that that
we could look at down the road.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Maybe And you're not allowed to say on TANGI on
this podcast, but go ahead, yeah, you know that's citerously.

Speaker 6 (39:46):
I do think.

Speaker 7 (39:46):
You know, Masline is going to be good up Northern
Division two like they always are. They're going to play
that kind of schedule like Molar plays every year. You know,
Ice has been down for a while. I think it's
going to be you know, EDGs and they're going to
do their thing. Uh in the Central man, I think, well,

(40:08):
i'll tell you what. Up in Dayton, Springfield and UH
and Wayne are going to be good. Up in Dayton.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Wayne.

Speaker 7 (40:14):
You know, they went Hayden sixth last year, but they
they got to the regional finals and and you know
Centerville is gonna be okay again. I don't know what
the new head coach if, if they're going to be
the same as they were now. He was an assistant
there for a lot of years. Of the Central out
of Columbus.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Man, what about Springfield Catholic? How are they going to do?

Speaker 7 (40:36):
Ringfield Catholic.

Speaker 6 (40:39):
Coach?

Speaker 7 (40:41):
Yes, the fighting Irish. You know, Division seven we got
to deal with Mary and Local.

Speaker 6 (40:46):
So the mary and Local.

Speaker 7 (40:47):
Invitation there, that's a lost cost in Division seven.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
So yeah, talking about division is crazy.

Speaker 7 (40:57):
Well yeah, you know, I mean, hey, when you look
at at Coldwater and Marion Local and that that league
they're in up there, and that that's that's small school football.
You know, we only have seven Division seven schools here
in Cincinnati, and.

Speaker 6 (41:10):
We are like what we do Division one?

Speaker 7 (41:12):
What we do Division two Division four. After Division four,
our talent level drops off so immenseally as compared to
some of those uh rural area schools and towns that
that that that that's all they live on is football.
So it's it's a different this is a world there.
I mean with what they do in divisions in Mercer County,

(41:33):
what they do in Division five, six and seven is
just unbelievable with those schools.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
So yeah, Greg, where can folks go to get water
wall coverage of high school football and Cincinnati and beyond everybody.
Where they can go?

Speaker 8 (41:47):
They can go to try state football dot com and
right now, if you go to YouTube dot com backslash
try state football, you can see all of these great
interviews that we've done over the last two days with.

Speaker 7 (41:58):
These coaches and these teams and these players. I mean,
even Holmes came out and lost twenty two in a roup.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
How about this?

Speaker 7 (42:04):
Holmes and Cole ran in the same sentence as the
teams with the longest losing streaks in the area of
twenty two street about.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Cole rain How about Cole rain lessal week one, give
me your give me.

Speaker 7 (42:15):
That's that's my upset special right there. Cole RAN's going
in that one.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
Really, I love Jordan. Jordan does a great job, and
George's an awesome coach. Is He's a great coach and
he's got those guys all fired up. You have an
interview to Andy or I or on your YouTube channel.
Is there a reason for that?

Speaker 7 (42:33):
No, but we haven't started back up our YouTube and
we will do that very very soon. I promise you guys.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
You're awesome, and you guys still have your show after
the games. Tell people I'm assuming that.

Speaker 7 (42:45):
Yeah. Yeah, So high school football tonight on Fox Sports
thirteen sixty and ESPN fifteen thirty every Friday night, and
you can catch me on the pre game at six pm.
The leads into the sat X games, and then after
the sat X games, I'll be back on with Dan
Klaskins and Sup on all the all season long. That
runs through eleven o'clock, So usually about nine fifteen and

(43:07):
nine thirty your Soto eleven o'clock, we're on Fox Sports
thirteen sixty and ESPN three thirty.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
You guys do a great job. After the Moeler gets
their win on the way home, tune into ESPN fifteen thirty,
Fox Sports thirteen sixty and listen to you and tell
you about everything you need to know about high school football,
the results interviews. I've even appeared in that a couple
of times. You've been adam at the barrel needing some
people to jump on. It's been awesome. You guys do
a great job.

Speaker 7 (43:33):
Thank you very much, and you guys do too, man,
and look forward to talking to you guys down the road.
There was plenty more to talk about.

Speaker 6 (43:38):
Believe me, I'm sure we can do it again.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
Greg Shreemaker, you will be on again, I'm sure. In
a podcast around the corner. That's Greg Shoemaker from Tri
State Football dot Com. We'll be back with more in
depth team coverage of Big Mo Moeler High School. It's
a Big Mo podcast, a double MOE and the Molar
Proadcasting Network. As Championship Soccer bring Molar Nation together, w

(44:02):
MOE School is to bring you the latest updates on
the run to a state title. Follow new head coach
Tony Ripberger and your Moler Crusaders soccer team right here
on w MOOE and the Molar Broadcast.

Speaker 9 (44:14):
You're listening to w MOE the home of Barrett Cohen
and the location that chief Jack Monaghan class of nineteen
sixty six is sounding the fifth alarm to put out
this structure fire. When Barrett is on the mic w
MOE the Molar Broadcasting Network.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
Backing to Big Mo podcast, Andy Nagel and Big Mobarrt
along with a special guest in studio, he popped in.
Actually I had him pop in. He was actually popped out,
but I popped him in. We have jumping Joe Rupert
in the studio and Andy Nagele what this guy does,
and let me tell you something. He doesn't like being
on the air, so I got him at gunpoint to

(45:09):
come on the air. But what Joe Rupert and Rupert
Heating and Air has done for Molar High School, and
it's a good relationship Joe. We'll talk about that in
a minute. But what Joe has specifically done for Molar
is unbelievable and you've seen it firsthand.

Speaker 4 (45:23):
Well, and I will tell you this to everybody that's listening,
especially the alumni. I'm sitting across two LaSalle grands.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Here that have He's an elder Grid.

Speaker 4 (45:33):
Are you an elder grad?

Speaker 2 (45:34):
Yes, my son graduator. Yes, it's even worse, worse.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
Ah, I got two boys, a graduator from Elders.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
I gotta be careful you got tread lightly anyone.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
So two outsiders, if you want to call him, non
Molar alums that do so much for this community. With
Joe and with everything he's done, uh with Molar and
the heating and air and everything he's done for the
Molar community off of that high school. And then I'll
obviously what what, what Barrett you have brought to this
place has just been awesome. So I know we've already

(46:06):
said we've given you.

Speaker 2 (46:07):
The the well, I think I speak for Joe and
I'll let Joe speak to this. What's unique about the
Molar family And I can't say that about two other
schools on the West Side. And I and I mean,
I don't mean that with any shade Like I I've
always said.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
You think the Elder community is very similar to the
Molar community.

Speaker 2 (46:27):
How yeah, But I'll push back a little bit on that.
You couldn't take a Molar guy, I don't think, and
make him the alumni director an elder, or take a
Molar guy and put him in there that elder that
Elder fan base would be livid. I think it's a
credit to the Molar family because they were open arms

(46:50):
from day one. Now there's probably a few people out
there that have that everybody, So I'm not naive to
think that I have some of those out there. But
by and large, the way this Mueller family accepted me
from the Jump Street seven years ago, whatever it was
now and Joe, you've had that same feeling, it's it's
different here.

Speaker 4 (47:11):
Set Our ultimate goal all four schools is just to
be you know, to be good stewards and mentors to
and bring these disciples of Christ, you know, to keep
building that kingdom here on earth.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
A great question because I had John Lyondecker who I
went to the Holy Land with, and you know, John
Well and your wife and I went on the same
Holy the same pilgrimage. John often asked the educators the
first time that we're over in the Holy Land, why
does a Catholic school exist? What is the prime? And
you hit it, you just said it. But most people
it's it's not the Wednesday Championships. It's not to have

(47:44):
reunion events. It's a Catholic school exists. El numero uno
no buds about. It is to create disciples of Jesus Christ.
That is the number one reason why a Catholic school exists.
So if you make that your pillar, all the all
four schools, all four schools, all this other stuff that
falls underneath, it is very irrelevant what happens on Friday

(48:06):
night when Molar an elder player, moltar x play. If
you want to get down to the bones of it,
that's what it's all. And I think Joe you're a
primate shining example. I know you do workover at the
other schools as well. What you're doing is remarkable.

Speaker 4 (48:21):
And I think all four communities do work together in
that community service. They work together.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
The fans might not always, but internally there's a lot
of collaboration there is.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
There really is.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
But Joe, we always talking about a relationship being two ways. Obviously,
the Molar family has been good to you as well.
It's a great I always tell people, especially corporate partners,
like you could make this transactional if you want, and
Molar would be appreciative. But if you do it the
right way, it's doing it the way you do it,
doing it the way Tommy Gregory does it at Montgomery

(48:53):
in and make it a relationship that partnership. Am I right? Correct?

Speaker 10 (48:57):
It's not about getting back, it's about give back. It's
all about helping ensure the students of any particular school
has the opportunity to grow and become men and understand
why they're put here to help each other.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
Amen, and you are taking a step, another step into
the Molar High school by doing something that Andy and
I specifically and selfishly are extremely grateful for.

Speaker 10 (49:25):
Talk about that, well, I've been inside Marv on a
very hot day.

Speaker 2 (49:32):
It's not comfortable. Have you been in there on a
cool day? No? I have not known. That's even worse.

Speaker 10 (49:38):
But I've also heard stories of propane heaters trying to
stay warm, and I'm like, someone's gonna die. So we
have taken the liberty of contacting our Bryant distributor over
at Hey Bigger and they are graciously donating all the
equipment to heat and cool.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Marv Habiger home of Michael as of eighty nine. Go ahead, and.

Speaker 10 (50:02):
Then you're dropping a trailer off at our place and work.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
It's not a trailer to a mobile studio.

Speaker 10 (50:06):
Whatever's wording they like to put. You're gonna drop it
off at our place this Friday, and we are going
to install the heating cooling system in it.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 10 (50:16):
That will be good to go from there.

Speaker 2 (50:18):
Last year for game one, I can box, I can,
And it's going to The temperatures are going to start
start rising here at the end of this week, actually
a couple of days from now, it's going to get
in the nineties again. You remember last year at that
Princeton game, But Joe, I'm not sure you were there
or not. It was I think ninety two or three outside.

(50:39):
But that's like an oven when you when when you
get that thing, and we were in the sun. Now, John, now,
I left the game early because I was feeling sick.
I left the Princeton Molar game opening game. I left
early and I told Tom Gregory, I am tapping out.
I don't feel good. And I think it was because
of the heat. But John Buckley, now, we love John

(51:01):
ninety eight grad one of my dudes. John says that
you got the windows open, why do you need air? Well,
John hasn't been in there when it's been ninety five
degrees with humidity and everything else. But you're saying it'll
take the edge off.

Speaker 10 (51:14):
It'll take the edge off, or you'll have that air
blowing directly on you. It will definitely make a difference.

Speaker 4 (51:19):
John Buckley sitting in his.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
Mobile down John across from us correct with his air
conditioning blowing and his fans.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
A great point. I should have thought about that, John,
if you're listening, how come you weren't? We were not
invited to the show inside your palatial Now he's got
a new one. Oh no, it's like a rolling Indian
hillhouse rolling around Motown now.

Speaker 10 (51:41):
But no, it's not gonna be seventy two degrees in there.
It's still gonna be open.

Speaker 2 (51:45):
To the outdoor and it's not gonna be ninety five.

Speaker 10 (51:46):
But just being able to feel the cool air blowing
on you should make a difference, should make an imp.

Speaker 2 (51:51):
And that'll be nice. But it'll even be better in
the winter because when it is a windshiel of about
you know, fifteen to twenty degrees ease with a stiff
wind out of the northeast in Campton and we're in Canton, Ohio,
that's not a good place to be in Motown. But
we will have a nice place since and we have
guests like I remember Coach Foules would would would come,

(52:13):
and we have some you know, older guests that you know,
it'd be nice to get them in a comfortable spot
at least for a little bit, to warm up a
little bit. But Joe, I can't thank you enough. It's
it's awesome. I may have mentioned this to you several
times now and you're like, you know what, shut up,
let's do it right.

Speaker 10 (52:30):
Well, I don't know. It's I've suffered through it just
as much as you have standing in there, and it's
it's not comfortable. So let's do what we can to
help out.

Speaker 2 (52:38):
Joe. You're amazing.

Speaker 4 (52:39):
We appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Man.

Speaker 4 (52:41):
You're busy. I mean this is your all time busy
season when people's units crap out on them, so to speak,
and you're right there and take care of Marv. So
thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
And not just Marv, I mean what you've done for Molar,
I mean right now you're here today because you're working
on a union on top of the gym right now,
so which you continue to do from Muller. I know
Mike Wagner, our facilities director here, loves what you do here.
And if anybody needs any heating and cooling needs now
you don't do uh plumbing, it's just heating. So I

(53:14):
have people. A lot of times they'll call me and say,
does Joe do hot water heaters? You do not? If
I were you, and I'm not. I wish I was,
but I'm not. I might dabble into a little bit
of that, uh, hot water tanks because there's a lot
of people that have those go out that could be
some more money for you.

Speaker 10 (53:31):
Joe, you used to do them years ago?

Speaker 2 (53:32):
Really? Why not? Well, it became.

Speaker 10 (53:35):
More of a thorn in our side when it was
extremely busy. You have to take care of a hot
water heater. When you got people that want to be
cool fair enough, or they want to heat, or they
want heat in your house, You've got to stop and
take care of a hot water just without heater air that. Hey,
I gotta take care of them.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
From That's why you do what you do, and I
do it. I'll just continue to push buttons here and
talk on what head said.

Speaker 3 (53:54):
Just do what you do and it's a fact.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
Joe, thanks so much. I'm excited to drop it off
and and and to check it out. We're only what
two weeks away, Eddie, two and a half weeks was
the two and a half weeks away right, two weeks
from Friday.

Speaker 4 (54:10):
Next Saturday, Yeah, next Saturday.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
Crazy, unbelievable. So Joe will be done by that, and
that's my question.

Speaker 10 (54:16):
Oh absolutely, we'll have you done by next weekend.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
I can't wait. I'm gon have to test it out.
I mean, you're not gonna fly a passenger plane with
all passengers on board without trying it out first, right, right, Joe,
I wouldn't. How are we looking, Marty? That's Joe Rupert
jumping Joe Rupert from Rupert Heating and Air again. Think
that thanks to the Habiger Corporation Company, Molar family as
well for taking care of us and Marv. We're gonna

(54:39):
have to put a capacity thing on Marv though, because
you know we're gonna have a We're gonna that thing.
Those tires won't sustain a thousand people in there.

Speaker 4 (54:46):
Hey, real quick, If the Molar community wants to get
a hold of you, Joe, Howe's what's the best way,
easiest way to get a.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
Hold of you?

Speaker 10 (54:52):
Main office number is five one three nine two five
zero five zero.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
And mention them that you are part of the Mollar
family and you are personal ends with Joe Rupert. He
will roll out the blue and gold carpet for you, Joe.
I know you hate going on the air. It's did
audio video grow, so I thought you appreciate that. We
call me fat. That's a fact, Joe. Thanks for everything
you do. I love you and you're one of my

(55:17):
one of my dudes. I appreciate you. I appreciate you.

Speaker 10 (55:20):
Does he probably Muller does for us.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
That's awesome. That's Joe Ruper from Rupert Heating and Air.

(56:40):
Not going, a big more podcast, a great show, Doug
Rossvelt Jumping, Joe Rupert, and of course we had Greg
Shoemaker Tri Statefootball dot Com. Andy, you and I were
talking during a break just this new space that we're in.
This is actually the first time I think you've seen
it since everything's been done. It's breathtaking. It was good

(57:00):
when we first opened it. But David Ashbrock's come in
with Gavin Gray and talk about what.

Speaker 4 (57:05):
You just forty time Emmy winner. That is a more
alarm David Ashbrock class of nineteen seventy four, and you
know he led his his talents in this studio. And Barrett,
you've worked in studios before. I've been to a couple,
I've been down to Fox nineteen, I've been to KRC
up on the Hill, and it is very similar like

(57:29):
when you're watching the news. You don't realize it. It's
just little pods here and there with lighting and cameras
and all that. And you walk into this studio and
it is separated into basically four or five separate spaces
in of itself with separate lighting.

Speaker 2 (57:45):
You got the green screen, you got the main set,
you got what I call the dateline couchs where.

Speaker 3 (57:50):
You're the Today Show, good Morning America, whatever you want,
that's probably better Today's show.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
That's what I meant, not the dateline show, but the
Today's show set. And it's just a flip with the
camp or one one part of the room or whatever.
We have Q monitors up. Now. What's really cool, U,
What what we didn't have is all the controls for
every lighting on nearly every lighting and audio feed in
here is now all fed through the ceiling into the

(58:16):
control room, where we were kind of fractured before. All
the controls, almost all the controls are now fed into
the control room, so you ostensively could run a newscast
and and all that just from the control room and
have your talent out here. Now we have but even
bigger than that. Now we have Nathan Eaton, who we
just hired uh to run all this, to run this space.

(58:39):
You know, Gavin and I this wasn't our full time,
but now we got a full time guy that's going
to educate our young men on how to use this space,
how to use the equipment and uh, you know we're
looking at right now to live feed Atkremchech Stadium and
one of the monitors here. It's just a it's a blessing,
and I think we're gonna just keep getting bigger and
better and new things coming in here. With AI technology

(59:00):
being introduced now, even in the TV business. I mean
that's actually it's been introduced for a while now, but
it's the advances in AI and the introduction of it
in TV and radio and even podcasting. It's just it's
tremendous and the opportunity our young men are going to
have is pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (59:16):
I mean, the only thing we're really missing if they
would have thought this through and put it on the
first floor. We're on the second floor. You could have
people outside the windows, like you know.

Speaker 2 (59:24):
In New York.

Speaker 4 (59:24):
I mean, that would be cool.

Speaker 2 (59:26):
We do have a nice view of the courtyard, but
you have to look over and down to kind of
see the courtyard from our view up here. Andy. We
have a lot to talk about on the back end
of the show because there's so many things going on,
and we always talk about that one pager online that'll
let everybody know, but it really starts on August eighteenth,

(59:46):
just a little over a week from this coming Monday,
or a week from this coming Monday, our opening show
that'll highlight the football preseason coming up at August eighteenth.
That's Silver Spring House. Come on Euse and it's going
to be packed and I'm really looking forward. We're going
to do a live show. As you walk into the
spring House, you have an option to go left or right.

(01:00:08):
We're going to we basically have secured that whole right
side of the spring House or the Chicken House or
Molar North, whatever you want to call it for Molar
and the cheerleaders are going to be there. We're gonna
have the football team, the coaches, the captain's there as well.
It's gonna be a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (01:00:21):
We did it last year. I think that was our
first year of trying that, and we had several guests.
I know we had Jonathan Hayes, our athletic director on.
We had Chris Gray on I think Mike Welker came out.
But looking to grow, like I said, looking to grow
different events and we invite the more community out. We're
going to do a live show and have several guests

(01:00:42):
and it's going to be awesome at the Silver Spring
House that day.

Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
It's going to be packed seven to nine. The football team,
I think it's done around six thirty, so we encourage
the parents to come on out. They had an event.
The football team had an event kind of a preseason
kickoff at John Gervis's place at Wings and Rings and
I walked in, my wife and I walked in thinking
there might be a handfu. It was packed, awesome, standing

(01:01:08):
room only. So we want that crowd at Silver Spring
out so let those folks know how much we appreciate
them and show them what Moler football is all about.
But that's not it. That just kicks off a very
very very busy week for your alumni office and our
advancement team.

Speaker 4 (01:01:25):
Yeah, you know it's it's probably going to take us
a few weeks of these podcasts to actually get through
the entire year of what we have planned. But even
before the eighteenth. I mean, you look at this Saturday,
the class of two thousand is going to celebrate their
twenty five year reunion at mad Tree Parks and Rex

(01:01:46):
over at Summit Park. So that's on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Sean Finnerty flying in from d C for it. He's
all excited.

Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
Is he coming in?

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Yeah, he's coming in.

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
It's at least Suddendorf is kind of taken over the
reins and helping with at the reunions, and she's done
a great job from our team.

Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
Do we have numbers how many guys are going? I
think the.

Speaker 4 (01:02:05):
Last time I looked, we're at forty ish.

Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
So you know, we'll make an appearance without Mike. Monafo
is signed.

Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
Up to scheduled to appear.

Speaker 4 (01:02:15):
Tom Heartline, mister Hartline, as a lot of the students
know he's from that class of two thousand, he'll be
there as well.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Tom Hurtlines, the new that lead dog in the counseling department.
He just got a promotion this big time.

Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
I didn't know that we got a lot of new faces.
Speaking of that at New Higher Orientation.

Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Today, they've been popping in here a little bit there,
Bright Eye bushy tailed not and they have no idea
what they're getting into in a good way.

Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
That's right. Even our president has to go through the
new orientation. He's part of that crew.

Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Oh is he really?

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
Yes, he is, because he was hired in the middle
of the That's fantastic, that's awesome. I would you like
to be a new hire and you got the president
in your class with you.

Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
I asked him yesterday, I said, how long are you
still considered the new president? He goes, well, for a year.
I'm going to be new. I said, okay, good. I
don't feel bad introducing you six months five months into
it as the new press. That's right.

Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
But it's it's you know, you talk about football. You
know we have cross country golf. What support of my soccer?
You know, we've we talked to the new head coach
there with that, uh you know you have all that,
the athletics. You know, we we met the new band director,
tarn Uh. She's going to be in fantastic. I mean
she's a c CM grad.

Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
She had him out there marching. If you're CM grad,
you're kind of a big deal. You're good, You're good
with us.

Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
And Conservatory of Music I don't know what that.

Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
Is, but she is excited. I think you and I
are going to work with her and our team.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
She's going to work with us because we don't know
anything about band stuff. That's a fact.

Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
But but you know in stuff that she's talked about
wanting to do at football games at rallies, UH, at
tailgates alumni events with with band alum UH. She's looking
to play in something for next season and have a
band alumni night at a football game.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Where you bring your bring bring your instrument UH and
if you and if you don't have one, she'll give
you a pair of symbols.

Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
To bang out there on the field.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
But that'll be we could do symbols. I can do
that too. I actually have a video of me doing
symbols with paul Kin. It was paul Kin. But how
about the how about the regional trips because selfishly, yes,
and I think I speak for you, those are the
most fun. Well, they're all fun, but those are a
lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (01:04:32):
We've tied two in the fall here with football weekends
with away weekends. The first one will be September eleventh
in Nashville. Well, we didn't we're not doing a region
of regional but we are heading ironton. We're gonna take
marv that's August thirtieth, Saturday when they take on Mount

(01:04:55):
Carmel High School out of Illinois. But the big alumni
regional event will have September eleventh down in Nashville. We're
still working. I'm actually working with Jason Fessler and Sean
Henry from the class of eighty three, working with those
who hopefully have that tied up, location, time, and all
the details by the end of this week. But that'll

(01:05:17):
be September eleventh, and then we'll tailgate Friday, September twelfth
before the Christ Presbyterian Academy CPA of Nashville before that
game kicks off in Nashville. That's September eleventh and twelfth,
and then we're going to head to Cleveland. We're going
to do a Cleveland regional event on Friday, October seventeenth.
That'll lead into the game against Saint Ed's on Saturday,

(01:05:41):
October eighteenth, So that'll be a great weekend in Cleveland.
We're also looking to do Dallas Fort Worth in March
in the spring, and we're looking to do Chicago in April,
and we may have some one off type events in January,
February and Florida.

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
I wasn't listening. Be it full disclosure of working on
something on the side. Here is textas in the mix.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
Yes, Dallas, fort Worth is what on Houston. We're going
to try to tie in a couple of cities in March.

Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
March perfect working on that. It's a great birthday celebration
for me. It will sell me and you that's united.

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
We'll celebrate in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
For fort Worth, Houston where San Antonio good cigar place
to We'll hit that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
We looktin that's good.

Speaker 4 (01:06:26):
But it's gonna be a great year. It's gonna be
a great year, hopefully. If you haven't updated or send
us your information, I mean, just get on the email list.
That's where you're gonna get most of that information. Follow

Moller High School face on all of it. We'll try
to pump out as much information as we can and
helps spread the word. I'm gonna I took the month

(01:06:49):
of July off for the newsletter. The next newsletter comes
out Alumnius newsletter. Easy for me to say. The next
alumni newsletter comes out at the end of August. We'll
have all these, but my big theme this year is
hashtag bring a friend or hashtag bring a classmate. We
had gosh twelve hundred. There's almost thirteen hundred alums that

(01:07:13):
engaged monetarily last year. And the thing is, if no
gift is too small, no gift is too big. If
every one of those thirteen hundred brought one person or
got one person to come to an event or to
donate the molar, we would be over a twenty percent
alumni engagement. And that's where we want to be. But

(01:07:35):
we need your help to do it pared and I
can't do it by ourselves.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Miss a day, miss a lot. You do remember the
old WLW commercial and that really applies here to Moller
And we'll keep everybody up to date on the Big

millions of friends that you have out there. The Moller brothers.
So nobody, no no alum is what they call it.
No stone, Yeah, no lum is left behind, no stones unturned.

(01:08:03):
So that's Andy Nagle. We want to thank again, Greg Shoemaker,
try to say Football dot Com. Also, we had joined
the show, Joe Ruper from rupert Heating an Air and
Doug Rossfeld from the Cincinnati Bengals. Next week, excited to
bring on the El Presidente a Fifth Third Bank, he
will be joining us on the Big MO Podcast. Mowler
Grant another one. Last President was a Muller lum. This

(01:08:25):
one's a Moller lum. Gonna be talking to Dan Felman
next week on the Big MO Podcast. He'll be calling
in as well as Norm Charlington. He's Andy Nagle. I'm
Big Moo Barrett. We'll see you next week on the
best coverage of Molar High School. It's w MOE and
