Speaker 1 (00:01):
W M and the MOLA Broadcasting nowhere probably was that
The Big Mo Podcast. The Big Mo Podcast is brought
to you by Craftsman Electric and Revey Landscaping and now
your hosts Andy Nagel and Big Mo Barrett Dadie Nagel.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's almost here. I'm getting nervous the first game of
the season. How many times have people ask you? How
good is this soccer team going to be? How good
is this football team going to be? How good is
this golf team gonna? You get dinged up? A lot
of people asking you, like you're at every practice.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
All the time, and you are at a lot.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
So I have a pretty good idea.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
We had an event last night and I looked at
you and I looked at dom Ikeavone and I said,
all right, boys, how do we look? You know, because
you guys are there a lot more than me and
I know. Uh, I think soccer. You went to the
game last night. How did they look?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
They struggled one nothing, They lost to Turpin. It was
a scrimmage, wasn't a regulars and games. So they were
playing some guy I was getting some debt, but uh,
they were offensively challenged. I think they call him set
pieces in soccer, they were struggling with some of their
set pieces opportunities they've had. I've learned a little bit
about soccer. Mike Welker has beat it. He has so
(01:17):
uh they didn't score a goal.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Cross country too. Don't let's not forget those boys cross country.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Those guys are going to be uh good this year.
Which what's been fun talking to Frank about cross country
is that you're seeing these guys and I'm trying to
think how he explained to me when they were at
mole or that when Frank, before Frank got here, they
looked at Frank kind of looked at their results and
(01:41):
he said, in our first year, you know, we don't
want to be the fourth team in cross country. We
want we want we want to place third in cross countries.
It's get just a little bit better. And he did that,
and now, uh, the second year, let's see if we
can now come in second place and do that consistently
at races. And they did that. Now he's got this
(02:01):
cross country team. Now they're competing with the elite teams
inside the conference on a weekend and week out basis.
So it was neat to hear him talk about the
maturation process of not just the runners, but the program
and how and really focusing and narrowing down from race
to race, not as a program holistically year to year,
(02:23):
race to race. Let's get the guys this week. Let's
beat this team and put them here. Let's beat these
two teams and put him here. And he's done that.
We've seen him do with track and field, and Dave
Pranger of course is the head cross country coach, but
you've seen a lot of Frank Russo in that program
(02:44):
and they've just really it's been fun to watch.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
It's a culture. Is that building that it is believe
that belief system and having those kids buy into yes
we can instead of we're just doing this to do something.
In the fall, they are competing at us very high level.
They've been young the last two years, so it's it's
nice to see this young team now mature like you
talked about and excited to see. Uh heck, they're like
(03:11):
almost like the NASCAR Daytona five hundred. How they kick
it off the season with their super Bowl number one race,
their first race is is the primetime event.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I was just look getting ready to look that up,
which I think.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
One of the first events they have, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Gonna challenge yours. I looked this, I gotta turned my
sound off. Have you been to the break?
Speaker 3 (03:32):
But you know what it's been. Why the last time
I was at a primetime cross country event it was
at King's Island, the old Grizzly Course when they ran
it up there. I have not been to the one
at at christ Church and Mason, but maybe this is
the year I go.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
It is unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
I'm looking pretty cool man time.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Let's call Frank Russo, get him on the watch line
because I can't find it with a search.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
That's called Dave.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Let's call the head braker. Won't answer, We'll call. We'll
try Frank. Let's yeah, let's call Bringer. We got we gotta.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Find wing eating contest champion.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
We got to follow the lines of seniority. So let's
call Dave Pranger on the phone on the watch ligne.
My guess is he's not going to answer though.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Because he probably thinks it's an IT question.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
No, because he's eating chicken wings right getting close to noon.
He is answering day. Pranger, You're on live on the
Big Mo Podcast. Are you ready to sit down? In
the hot seat with Andy Nagel and yours truly Big.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Mo Barrett on Live on ARA.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Huh, you're live on the air. I can't find the
information for the Primetime Invitational with a search warrant. I
need you to give me the facts, and I needed
you to give it to me.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Now hit it with us.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
All right, Well, here are the facts. The Primetime is
August twenty second, Friday Night. I like it that Marjay
races at nine pm.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
I love this, Yes.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
And you can find all information on www dot Moller
dot org Ford slash p KEI.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Dave.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
We're talking about just before we rang. And this is
why we really hit you up. Is you know, looking
at like a NASCAR event. You know with the Daytona
five hundred, they kicked their their season off with what
they call the super Bowl of Sports. This primetime event
has evolved into something like that, where you kick off
the season with one of the top racing nights, a
(05:30):
night race of the season.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Wouldn't you say.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
We'd like to build it as such. Yet we've really
pride ourselves to put on a a on a first
class event and and those that have come in the
past have have echoed those same sentiments, So they really
think we do a great job and we like to
think we do as well.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Dave, talk about some of the seniors senior runners you
have this year in the program.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
Well, we got a fantastic class of seniors starting off
with our five senior captains, Rock Rubert and Speed, Preston Wesley,
Max Herzog, and Steve Shooty. In fact, Steve Shooty is
also one of our school captains as well, so he's
well regarded with his leadership skills. But what those guys
(06:19):
have been able to do the last you know, three
years for the program, really elevating it to a new
level with with with their skill and dedication. We're super
excited for their senior year and what they're going to
be able to do this year.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Hey, what success look like from Moller Cross Country this year?
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Well, success is going to be a GCL title and
a far run at State?
Speaker 6 (06:47):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (06:48):
That's what we're goal?
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Is it true? Andy Nagel said you would not answer
the phone because you'd be elbows deep into chicken wings.
I said, yeah, you will. Can you confirm if you
were elbows deepened chicken wings from John Gerbis and Wings
and Rings.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Well, actually, if you must know, I was elbow deep
in a donut, so I was eating.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I appreciate your candidness.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
The cross country coach.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
That's the health and wellness eating there right there, that's
the secret sauce, David.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
It's hard to pass up when they give free donuts
away in the main office. That's try you know you
walk past there, it's kind of hard to resist.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
That's why we can't find Dave and the IT offices
with a search warrant and will you answer the bell
and man up? But John Gerbis Wings and Rings for
another Live Big Mo podcast, the defending champion. You lost
six fingers last time to win the championship? Will you
answer the bell and be at Wings and Rings for
another wing eating contest?
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Hey, it's hard to pass that up. I love wings,
so yes, you can count me in counting man.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Dude, he even went. I think he went ghost sauce.
He did have no issues with you know's wrong with them?
Speaker 5 (08:03):
If if you must know, Actually, I think Bert and
I were pretty close. We were probably tie and I
think the time the tiebreak, I think that you guys
made it kind of called the tie break when when
we finished because I think Bert ate the same thing
I did. We both did the same and Bert actually
finished his with a glass and mouth, whereas I didn't.
(08:25):
And I think that's how you That's how you guys
decided the tie break. So you gotta hat off to Burt.
He's a beast too.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
But he went soft at the ends and that's all
that matters. He couldn't handle the prayer. Dave Pranger, the
wing eating champion of Big Moo, We're going to do
that again this fall. I'm going to call John Gerbis
and make that happen August.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
Wings and Rings, Yes, Wings and Rings will be at
the prime time, So don't eat dinner, Come on out
and get some wings while you while you watch.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Them race August twenty second, Friday night, nine pm, Varsity.
What time did a festivity start before the varsity run?
Speaker 5 (09:03):
First races at six pm? Junior High.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
There you go, people go to it man.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
David Pranger, do you have any questions for Andy Nagel
or yours? Truly? Foreign politics? Whether well?
Speaker 5 (09:19):
I could sit and chat about the primetime all day,
but you know, sometimes my daytime job gets in the way,
so duty does call.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
All right, Dave, get back to the donuts. We thank
you for answering your call on the Big Morris Simpson.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
Dave, you're quite welcome.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
You're out of here. How about that Dave Pranger right there,
head cross country coach? And what do you think you
think he takes more pride in being the head cross
country coach or the wing eating champion of Big.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Mo That's a tough toss up, but he's I mean,
he sounded really excited and high on the cross contract team,
and that's that's great to see the excitement that the
coaches have all of I know we'll probably talk to
Tim Lambert coming up with golf over the next couple
of weeks. Obviously we've talked to Bert with football and
(10:10):
coach Rip with with soccer. So it's gonna be a
great fall season.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
School starts next week.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
We're gonna have Kendall knee House talking cheerleaders. That's the
only one we're missing. You got to get the cheerleaders in.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Here, so she's kind of connected.

(12:06):
He's a guy I've been trying to get on here
for a while. He's been back to MOREWRE many times
and working with our kids. But we have We have
Dan Felder from the class of ninety nine and the
president the Greater Cincinnati Region at Fifth Third Bank, also
joined in studio by the other president. We had two
presidents here. What am I?
Speaker 4 (12:24):
I was just like Joe, Joe, you could use the
hail to the Chief and it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Apply to me.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Correct? We got two presidents in the room and then
a corporal, Big Mold Parrott. But we got Dan Fellman
from the class of nineteen ninety nine. Dan, I'm going
to introduce you formally with a little background for folks
that don't know you other than you're kind of a
big deal. Now you are the head chef and bottle husher,
but you were an Ohio State Buckeye. We'll talk about
(12:51):
that off the air. Twenty four years you've been a
fifth third bank. You also serve on the Mercy Health
Cincinnati Market Board, Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and chair
of Investor Relations as well. Been doing that for just
over a year. Mercy Health Foundation Chairman of the Board.
You are also I think this is one of the
(13:12):
cooler things. Back in twenty twenty, I think it was
you were named by Cincinnati Business Courier as one of
the forty under forty. So now forty over forty. Now
are if you reach that, which is very That's an
incredible accomplishment in and of itself in Ohio State Buckeye.
Fisher's College of Business. Got your MBA at the Williams
College of Business at Xavier University back in two thousand
(13:34):
and nine. But most importantly a man of Moehler from
the class of nineteen ninety nine. Dan, Welcome back home
on the Big MO Podcast. I appreciate it. Happy to
be here. Jason Barrett it's awesome. I mean, I I
so men of MO. I've always said this for as
long as I've been here at Molar, like they're so humble,
and that's honestly the most difficult part of my job
is telling that story because I always talk about another
(13:56):
school in town has no problem telling how awesome they are.
But men of traditionally, historically are extremely humble. With that said,
when something happens to a guy an alum, I won't
hear from the alum, but all his dudes from his
class will light me up. And that's exactly what happened
when you were named president of Fifth third Bank. Jason
(14:16):
Thopas was the first one to get me. But congratulations.
And what's that whole experience been like? Because it will
share in a minute. It's been a lifelong dream of yours.
Speaker 9 (14:25):
It has been a lifelong dream, and I appreciate that
it's been overwhelming. I mean, the last it's been about
three weeks now, and just the outreach of a lot
of Molar alumni, a lot of friends, a lot of colleagues,
a lot of people that I just haven't heard from
in the years. It's just been very special and very humbling.
As you mentioned, to get this recognition, people have been
(14:48):
sending letters, stopping off at the house. I got a
couple street shoutouts on Fountain Square, people yelling at me
it's awesome in their cars, and you know, it's just
been very humbling, and I couldn't be more excited to
take third to the to the next level here in Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Without the backstory this, it's very cool. President of fifth third,
local guy, Cincinnati guy rising to the top twenty four
years at fifth third. Throw the backstory into it, which
I think we now have permission to share, and I'll
put the video out there later. You were here at
Molar High School in one of the last I'll let
you tell the story because this is really cool. Wend
(15:25):
We found some video in the alumni office that I'm
not sure you even know existed, and this is pretty cool.
Tell me story.
Speaker 9 (15:31):
I did not know it existed, but after I saw
the video, I do slightly recall kind of where I
was back my last day at Molar High School. But
you know, everybody that on their last day Atmuller got
up and said, you know, hey, what's your name? Where
are you going to school? And what do you want
to do in twenty years and ironically, I said I
wanted to be the president of Fifth Third So that's crazy. Yeah,
(15:52):
And just to be clear, I'm the regional president in Cincinnati.
You know, Tim Spence is our bank Orp president, which
I have a lot of respect for. But from eighteen
years old. I started the bank when I was twenty,
So from eighteen years old, that was always a passion
of mine to get into the business world, primarily into
finance and into banking and being at the regional you know,
(16:14):
the best bank in Cincinnati, Fifth Third Bank.
Speaker 8 (16:16):
I mean, that was always my passion.
Speaker 9 (16:17):
So you know, when I got into college, that was
still a passion of mine and I sent out a
I would say about it.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
So even in the whole process, your first early years,
you still align that focus with I'm going to be
the president. That wasn't just some vision that was your
vision this whole time, yeah, or just.
Speaker 9 (16:33):
You know, some senior level position. But yeah, the president,
you know obviously would be a natural title. But so
I sent out about one hundred letters, you know, asking
for an internship. Back then that was pre you know,
when email was just starting to get started, I guess,
and I got one response. It was a guy named
Randy Steyer who responded to my one of my letters
that I sent and he said, hey, yeah, we're looking
for an intern. So back then in two thousand and one,
(16:55):
I was one of two interns at Fifth Third. Now
we have an explosive intern and really developing talent and
all those things. But that's how I got my start. So,
you know, I started in the summer and my dad
used to drop me off at the bus stop. He
still tells that story. He's like, you wanted to be
the first one in the work, so you got my
you know what, up in the in the morning and
took me or took me to the bus stop. And I, uh,
(17:18):
that was back when the culture was you know, the
he or she who was at the earliest at the bank,
and Jason knows, you know, with his dad being at
the bank a long time, whoever got there early seemed
to be the best one, you know, it was that
was just kind of the culture.
Speaker 8 (17:30):
Uh So I kind of.
Speaker 9 (17:31):
Learned that early on, and then uh, when I went
away for breaks, I kind of did some pro bono
type work, you know, kind of continuing to stay involved
with the group that I was in the Corporate Trust
group when I first got my start, and they asked
me back the next summer, and then I got an
offer for Fifth Third, you know, before I went back
for my senior year and at Ohio State. So that's
(17:52):
that's kind of the background. But it was just a
lot of hard work, a lot of reaching out, a
lot of networking, uh, you know, because I think, as
everybody knows, it's a lot about who you know and
asking for what you want to do in life, and
you know, hopefully good things will happen and you get lucky,
you know, along the way. I got a lot of luck.
I had a lot of mentors along the way to
get to where I'm at. So it's been fun, a
(18:14):
fun journey.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
You talk about the legacy, uh, and certainly there's a connection,
lots of connections between Molar and Fifth Third Bank. You
mentioned Jason's dad also who has worked at Fifth third
Big But Jason, you and I talked that was something
that that really resonated with you, that that legacy between
Fifth Third, Molar, the families, so many men of Molar
working there. Talking about that a little.
Speaker 10 (18:35):
Bit, yeah, I mean when when the announcement came and
and of course with tim being you know, the prior
with the prior and then naming it out there.
Speaker 11 (18:44):
Uh, Molar grad into into that role.
Speaker 10 (18:47):
I mean I I growing up, I never worked for
Fifth Third, but I you know, by association, you know,
I feel as though I've spent pretty much my entire life,
you know, at the bank as well too. And you know,
the values that I learned through my dad associated with
the bank. I think we're instilled, you know, in me
and hearing you talk about how you worked at the bank,
you know, kind of that eighteen nineteen, that's what my
(19:10):
dad did. My dad started as a teller and just
kind of you know, worked his way and grinded his
way up through through the ranks there. So yeah, so
to see it, you know, and it's particularly a mana molar.
My dad had two passions. As a matter of fact,
when we laid under rest, he was he was laid
to rest with two pins, fifth third pin really and
(19:33):
his Golden Crusader fifty you know, fifty year anniversary pill.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Yeah, that's cool, that's really cool. I Mean, let me
ask you this, Dan, because there's obviously a reason why
so many Molar guys go to Fifth third. What is
that that hard work you mentioned it hard work, dedication, passion.
Maybe it's a young person listening right now, maybe it's
a man of Molar who's currently here. What would you
say say to them if they're sitting in the seat
(20:01):
next to me, about what some of the things they
have to do, what they should do to present opportunities
like you had some luck along the way as you mentioned,
what are some things you would say to that young
man in that chair right now?
Speaker 9 (20:12):
Yeah, I mean Molar sets the stage for you to
be able to serve, you know, and I think that's
a big thing that I learned at Molar was serving
either people you know now it's clients, you know, which
are people, companies? All the things that we're doing at
the bank. And I would say the core values too,
you know, that really aligned Fifth Third's core values and
you know, really Molar's values. You know, we talk a
(20:34):
lot about being inclusive. You know, Molars a very inclusive.
Speaker 8 (20:39):
Community.
Speaker 9 (20:40):
Obviously we didn't have the house system when I was
back then, but I can I can just feel that
energy that you can you hear about it now. You know,
that's a big arrow in Molar's quiver as far as
the house system. So from an inclusive standpoint, you know,
we talk a lot about acting as one bank. I
mean we talk about the molar family too, right, So
the molar family. The fifth third, you know, acting is
(21:00):
one bank, being around the table helping each other, uh,
you know, in different lines of business and things of
that nature. So that that really aligned well. And uh,
you know the other thing we talk about at fifth
third is being courageous. You know, Moller taught me how
to be courageous, take some risks, you know, calculated risks,
but also you know, having that courage to reach out.
(21:20):
You know, we're a lot of the things that I
do is a business development function at the bank. So
I mean, but you have to you have to have
the courage to reach out. You know, you never get
what you don't ask for in life to some extent.
So all those things really aligned and set set the
stage for me to be successful in the business world.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Yea.
Speaker 10 (21:39):
And I want to bring you back to a point
that you made about you know, networking and building relationships
and how pivotal that was to you know, building your career.
Speaker 11 (21:47):
When we met with the seniors this year.
Speaker 10 (21:49):
At the kind of at the the tail end of
the year, it's pizza with the President. And one of
the things that I really instilled in those young men
is allow us the opportunity now to begin to work
for you.
Speaker 11 (21:59):
You know, if you if.
Speaker 10 (22:00):
You're not on LinkedIn, you will be at some point
when you do follow me on LinkedIn, because when it
comes time to do an internship, when it comes time
when you have your degree and you're going out there
and pursuing your first job, look and see who I'm
connected with you, And there are many things that will
open doors for you. Having the shield, the Molar shield
(22:24):
on your LinkedIn account. And when when somebody calls me
and you know, says I'm a Molar grad, I'm.
Speaker 11 (22:29):
Taking that call.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (22:30):
And and so for those young men, I really instill
in them use the Molar you know, the Molar family,
the Molar network.
Speaker 9 (22:38):
I agree, yeah, and the networking thing. That's a broad term, right,
but how do you how do you look at it?
I mean prior to fifth third. You know, when I
first started I started Caddy when I was about eleven
years old, and my dad instilled that in me. He
was my biggest mentor and still is as far as
you know.
Speaker 8 (22:53):
Networking.
Speaker 9 (22:54):
But who are you going to caddy for? You know,
back then he was challenging me. You know, if you
want to be a doctor, go caddy for some doctors.
Learn what your uh, why you're being there. You know,
if you want to be in the business world, go
caddy for some you know, business executives. Ask questions. Don't
just carry the bag. All those things that you know,
you learned at a young age. And I got into
you know, glen View golf course, I started working there,
(23:16):
learned the golf business. I you know, played golf at Molar,
so all the things that you know, setting the stage
for success. And now we talk about in the business
world networking again, it's a it's a big broad term.
Some people can walk into a room of two hundred
people and work the room like bear it pre damn
good at that you chased too. But you know, but
some people network in different ways. So a lot of
(23:37):
the coaching that we do is uh, you know, talking
through that with folks like hey, just find your network
and capitalize on it. Like going back to Molar, I
mean I was friends with a lot of folks that
were a class above me, in class below me, and
it's really instilled, you know, like find different pockets. You
know that, and in twenty years you never know where
(23:58):
that's going to take you and all the people that
you know, and the different directions that life might take
you in.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Fifth Third, UH and Molar have something in common. They
win a lot, both of them do. I mean, how
proud are you are you of not just Mollar but
Fifth Third and the success of the company. I mean
it's a staple here in Cincinnati. How proud are you
now being the head dog on campus that the president
of the Cincinnati region, of the success of Fifth Third Bank?
Speaker 9 (24:23):
I could be more proud. I mean we like to
win at Fifth Third. I mean we're competitive, you know,
again going back to the Molar values. Uh, it's a
competitive place and that brought it instilled a lot of
things in me.
Speaker 8 (24:34):
But yeah, winning's important.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Did a little bit of that edge come from Molar?
Speaker 9 (24:40):
I would say yes. I mean just playing sports and
growing up that way. I mean, now I play my
daughters in scrabble, I still want to win, you know,
I still like to beat them.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Jacone, You're like that with your girls as well.
Speaker 10 (24:52):
You know, it goes back to Mike at Kendall who's
junior rising junior at Mountain Hood or Dame would always
when we were playing video games she was young, Sinus's dad,
you know, will you let me win? I said, nope.
You know, you know you got to earn it. You
got to earn that win. And so that it teaches
that resilience, right, that competitiveness, that drive more to be
you know better.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
But lots of success at Fifth Third, no doubt about that.
You've mentioned something several times and I'm going to hit
you right between the eyes with this one. Yeah, your
dad means a lot to you, of course, I can tell.
I want to go to that phone call when you
found out you were going to be president of fifth
third Bank, reflecting on all your times growing up and
(25:33):
him taking you to the golf course for your first
caddie job. How cool was that phone call to your
dad to let him know that you are now the
Cincinnati regional president of Fifth Third Bank?
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (25:47):
Pretty impressive. Yeah, I was kind of lost the orders there.
It was special. He was the first call, for sure.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
What was that emotion like from your dad too?
Speaker 9 (25:58):
I hope you know he's just a proud dad, you know,
he just kind of my Dad's always just led the way,
you know, led by example. He's kind of taught me
that over the years, not talk about yourself being humble,
like we talked about. He had a successful business career
as well, but he never talked about He.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
Still doesn't talk about it, you know.
Speaker 9 (26:16):
And you know, I could tell a lot of stories
about my dad, but just watching that over the years
really instilled the character that I have now in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
So Dan, incredibly proud of you, man. I mean, it's
so cool when I you know, because I like to
share as many I like to go on the tallest mountain.
We like to get on the tallest mountain and brag
about our Molar family. And when I got this notification,
I'm like, here we go, let's go, because I knew
it was gonna take off. And it's just one Molar
man of Moller replacing another man of Moller, and it
is probably gonna be another one coming after you some day. Yeah,
(26:51):
but it's amazing. It's incredibly proud of you. I know,
Mary Fisher's in studio with us, Jason as well, and
the whole Muller family. Man incredibly proud Jason. It's very
cool and what.
Speaker 10 (27:01):
I would say is encourage you dan with with the
innovation hub that we have here now. And the course
is whether it's the student run endowment or the entrepreneurial class,
you know, to engage you know, fit third in you know,
mole or partnering to help these young men truly apply
because that's real learning, philosophy, relational, experiential, authentic, you know,
(27:22):
giving them the opportunity to really experience and to understand
what it is their learning and how it's applicable in
real life. And so so I hope that it's you know,
it's one that will have continuous visits and allow you
the opportunity to tell your Molar story to these young
men and and and light you'll continue to light that
fire and that pathway to success.
Speaker 9 (27:43):
Yeah, now, and the lighten the fire things interesting because
I read a quote years ago. You know, in business
the world, there's a lot of things that we're doing, uh,
in a sales culture, you know, how do you know
a lot of times we're lighting the fire under people.
But I've always been instilled of how do you like
the fire within folks? And that's really what Molear kind
of lit, lit the fire within me to carry the tradition,
(28:05):
you know, and lead by example and all the things
that we talked about here and and be proud to
wear the molar pin in the in.
Speaker 8 (28:11):
The in the fifth third pin now.
Speaker 10 (28:13):
And what's amazing is truly the service right and tying
it in. While it's a business, really what you're doing
is serving people. It's helping people fill you know, for
themselves their dreams and and and so that that call
to serve you're very much still doing that and it's
something that was instilled in you here.
Speaker 11 (28:31):
That's that's just pretty awesome.
Speaker 9 (28:32):
Yeah, they call to serve is the biggest thing, the
biggest takeaway for me, you know, doing the volunteerism more
because when you get into the business and I.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
Forgot to mention coot I I can't miss this one too. Also,
you're we're part of I think you still aren't the
big brothers and big sisters. I am the greater since
Sannia where you are serving all the time in that
capacity as well.
Speaker 9 (28:49):
Yeah, that's just a kids are a passion of mine.
Speaker 8 (28:52):
You know.
Speaker 9 (28:53):
I always tell people that are looking to get involved
in the community, and that's a that's the thing that
fifth third again aligns with Molar's values is they encourage
you and you know, to get involved in the community
right and be part of the Cincinnati community, in particular
here because the board work. You know, I always tell
folks that are looking to go sit on a board.
(29:14):
It's not just raise your hand for a resume builder.
I want to sit on a boarder. I got three boards.
It's find something that you're passionate about, whether it's kids
or homeless or you know, mental illness or whatever it is.
But then also from a business perspective, figure out who's
on the board right and who else can you network
with that We use that word networking a lot. So
you're killing a lot of birds with one stone, and
(29:35):
that's when it gets really fun. While you're serving giving back,
you're passionate about why you're there, and you can be
an effective board member from that perspective.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
And you have I don't want to be You have
been here multiple times presenting to our students on several occasions.
What was that like to come back into school and
to look at some of these guys in the eyes.
Now you're the old guy. You're probably the one in
that chair back in nineteen ninety seven, ninety But now
you're the what's it was that?
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Like?
Speaker 9 (30:03):
Just it's just fun. It's it's fun to see you
know your young self again. Going back to that video.
It's fun to see what I was thinking about. Had
no clue exactly what I was trying to do, but
I had aspirations, I had goals, and I was motivated
and all those things. And it's fun to tell your
story and maybe you get a few people that you know,
reach out to you. I mean, I've always had a
few people that reach out to you after the fact,
(30:24):
and it's funny. You know, those type of settings don't
make me nervous. But we just had a yesterday, bring
your kids to work day and they shoved me up
in front of about probably sixty you know, you know,
anywhere from three to eight year olds, and my heart
was pounding. I didn't know what to say. I didn't
know how to talk to a bunch of seven or
eight year olds. And I have two kids they're teenagers now.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
But put you in front of a bunch of c
sweet guys.
Speaker 11 (30:50):
Feeling a bunch of cash that just you know.
Speaker 9 (30:52):
I can do a board room, I can do the
ball around, but I realized just recently.
Speaker 8 (30:56):
I cannot do you know young kids.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
You had candy on you candy out of it, so
kind of Yeah, Dan, thank you, Thank you. We know
you've been up here many times. We know you're going
to continue to, you know, help your alma mater out
and be apart with Fifth Third and collaborating with Jason
our leadership team here. But thanks for everything you do
on behalf of everybody a.
Speaker 9 (31:14):
Morning, and thanks for what you guys are doing Jason,
you know as the president of the organization and Barrett,
I mean everybody talks about you all the social.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Media, I mean low standards.
Speaker 9 (31:25):
Well, the things that you're doing to you know, tell
the Molar story is just impressives. Thank you for so
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 11 (31:32):
Yeah, thanks for being here.
Speaker 10 (31:33):
Thanks for continuing to serve and represent mole or so
well and what it is that you do.
Speaker 2 (31:38):

(34:37):
and Dan, dude, it's crazy, man. You got a fifth
third guy president who moves on still within fifth third
and in a different role.
Speaker 11 (34:47):
What do you do?
Speaker 2 (34:47):
You just bring another man of Molar in. It's awesome.
Dan's a great dude. Man, He's awesome. He's humble and
just a great representative of Molar. And how about the
fact that he called it out back in two thousand
that he was going to ninety five seven five. And
if he called out that he was going to be
(35:08):
the president in twenty years of a fifth third bankcount.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
You know, I was. I had coffee with Jason Toppitz
yesterday morning and he brought that up that he sent
you that video. He was just going through some old
stuff and he was like, oh my gosh, this is incredible,
the video of Dan Feldman basically saying he was going
to be the next CEO or he wanted to be
the CEO.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
And Dan, like every other humble person in the Molar family,
said I don't want to put that out there because
it's going to sound like I'm it's all about me
in just complete Molar style. I don't, I said, Dan, No, dude,
we found this. This is very cool man to be
able to share this and the to show just how
special it is and the message it sends, frankly to
(35:51):
our students, like if you have a dream and you're
fiery about it, and Daniel Barnard will be on you.
I was telling him before we do on the air,
find your passion. And I've told my kids this, I
don't care if it's if it's putting pavement on on
the road. If that's your passion, go be great and
go be great at.
Speaker 11 (36:09):
It and do it.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
And and Dan had a passion to be the president
of fifth third Bank, and damn it, he's a president
of fifth third Bank.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
You know you asked Doug Rosfeld last week about talking
to these these students. What can they do? He said,
kick the door down. I thought that was I love it.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
Go for it, kick the door like literally kick the
door dash, be passionate about it, be great at it,
and and want it.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
And I just don't feel like kids today fully understand.
Gotta go for it, man, Gotta go for it. I've
said that a million times. If you're waiting for somebody
to put it on your lap, it's not going to happen,
all right, it was great Dan. Dan's awesome. It was
great to catch up with Dan, and uh, you know,
he loves seeing all the new editions of the school
and kind of walking him through. And I love when
(36:57):
he comes back and takes his experiences in the world
of finances to our students and what they're able to
learn and grab from it. It's just a it's a
perfect storm for what you do as an alumni director.
Myself and my role is just getting guys back on
campus to and just that. All right, let's cover some business.
So bidness. I used to have a teacher in high school.
You used to call it bidness. Yeah, we got some
(37:19):
business to take care of. And that's why we're bringing
in moler Alum two thousand and twenty two two. He
was just waiting for me because he knew I had
been messing it up. I can't keep them all street
Daniel Barnard, Daniel, Welcome to the Big MO Podcast. You're
pointing you need a producer. You got you sound better
(37:42):
with it down? Turn turn down, turn.
Speaker 11 (37:44):
Down, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (37:45):
They always say I got a face.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
For radio, you and me both, Well, how many times
have you people said that to you? Andy? You're still
too young in their career. But you're gonna hear that
all the time.
Speaker 6 (37:55):
I got a face for radio, and I got a
voice for the cameras.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
That's perfect. That's perfect. Pull that Mica a little closer
to your mouth there, Daniel. You've been working obviously on
a lot of the stuff behind the scenes, but ostensibly
been leading the big event happening. Uh This coming Monday
at Silver Spring House, We're kicking off the football season
with a big mo podcast gift gathering party for the
parents of Molar football all toll. It's gonna be a
(38:21):
packed house at the spring House. Talk about it.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
It definitely is.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
Yeah, So we got the We've talked about it quite
a few times.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Actually on here.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Now what you need though, hold on, we need to
give you some background music. Not the fight song, not
the Alma minor. I need I need some fun music
in the back. All right, give me the business and
give it to me now.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
So next Monday night, on August the eighteenth, we're gonna
be at Silver Spring House. We're gonna be in the
room just to the right when you walk in. We're
gonna have a live podcast there. We're gonna have some
football players on there. We're gonna have coach b on there.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
We're gonna have you'd be excited.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Cheerleaders out front greeting you on the way in. They're
gonna be walking around talking to everybody. It's gonna be
a good time. We're gonna be kicking off the football
season before.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
I'm getting out.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
You're getting me fired up.
Speaker 6 (39:07):
We're gonna hear from everybody. We're We're gonna hear from
those football players like I talked about. We're gonna hear
how fired up they are about the Seas, their quest
to get back to that state title game in Canton.
It's gonna be a good time, and.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
You're gonna it's your last sore before you head back
down to Athens and Ohio University.
Speaker 8 (39:26):
It is right.
Speaker 6 (39:27):
I'm looking forward to that, but I'm looking forward to
uh to this event next Monday, before we before we
get going on uh back to school.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Andy, let's turn that music off. We gotta turn that
music off because we do have some business at hand.
We got we got the big events Daniel talked about.
I'm I'm stoked because everything's fresh, everything's new, nobody, everybody's
got a clean slate to work with and it's officially
time for you and I to mike up. Go to
Spring House, pack the house, bring an appetite, support a
(39:56):
place that really has been big supporters of Big Mo.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Yeah, we're there yesterday, uh hosting the m fan hosting
all those guys that help support, you know, the tailgates,
the grills, all that stuff. We hosted them as kind
of an appreciation, uh lunching and the kick off the season.
So uh, I know they're excited, we're excited about the
(40:19):
schedule is just awesome.
Speaker 6 (40:21):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
We got late breaking news on a Nashville event today.
We'll pop that up here in a second. But but
Silver Spring House, man, come on out. What seven o'clock
that time where officially seven o'clock football practice is over.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
I turned it on seven o'clock, seven.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
O'clock in the bar area. Let's fill it up with
blue and gold. It'll be it'll be a blast. We'll
have fun.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
It's gonna be awesome to we kind of get.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Nervous about that live mic though. Do we have a
do we have a delay? We can't do a delight?
Speaker 2 (40:49):
Who are you both concerned about with?
Speaker 3 (40:52):
I don't know himself? Yeah, who you worried about I'm
worried about myself.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Correct, what were you say, Danny? You're gonna say something else?
And it goes till nine o'clock right, officially, you can
take Yeah, it starts at seven my understanding. The football
team actually practices I think until like six thirties, maybe
even seven o'clock during the shower. So we're gonna start
the show and then we'll just kind of wait for
the guys to arrive. I think soccer might be there
(41:19):
or not. Scer soccer gys won't be This is just
football only. But what if coach is their assistant coach
is there and can start talking to them before the
players arrive as well. It's gonna be fun. Man. I
cannot wait the house what do they call it? The
chicken house, chicken joint, chicken joint? Well, you gotta be
careful because there's another chicken joint down the valley down
(41:39):
there that people get.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
Which one? I got a funny story I'll tell you
off the Chicken on the run. Yeah, Chicken on the
run deer part.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Probably can offend it when they when you start talking
about the chicken joint being silver springhouse.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
So you gotta be careful, and you got Roost on
the west side. Everybody.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
I got some great stories about Ron Roost, and I'll
tell you all.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
There you go. But hey, let me give you that
quick breaking news Nashville. We're coming to Nashville. We got
about seventy five alums living in that Nashville area. Molar
Football plays Christ Presbyterian Academy CPA on September twelfth. That's
a Friday. We're going down, Barrett to myself and our
(42:22):
team are going to go down on Thursday night from
six pm to nine pm. We will be at X
Golf in Franklin for our alumni event. Jason Niehouse, myself, Barrett,
and our team, our advancement team will host the Nashville
alums open up a new chapter in Music City, USA
(42:44):
six to nine EX Golf in Franklin. But after that,
my man Big Mo Barrett is putting together a little
after party on Broadway, so stay tuned for details for that.
Speaker 4 (42:57):
Then we're going to have a tailgate on Friday.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
To be we may never come home, we may never
come in. Guess who sings this.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Song that's a little billy race it is.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
That's my claim to fame. I met Billy ray Cyrus
playing baseball in Chillicothee, Ohio. Now there was an old
farm festival, one of those country folk festivals, and we
happen to be playing a baseball tournament. I get in
the elevator and I see Billy ray Cyrus. Oh, I
might have had one too, that might've do what we
(43:30):
talked about. So we're looking forward perhaps, I think. And
there's so there's a family connection to to Main Street
and Broadway, uh to a a owner of several of
the big bars down there, including Jason Aldean who has
a bar down there as well. So we're possibly there's
a little Jason Aldean for you. So we're possibly gonna
(43:53):
have a venue, maybe at al Dean's, maybe at Randa.
Lambert has a venue down.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
There about Old Red or Old.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
There's a bunch of Now al Dean's, I'm told is
the most crowded one.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
I'm a Toutsies guy, though man put me in a
front room at Toutchies.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
You were a Touccies guy. So we're thinking about at
around eight or nine o'clock on the Thursday before the games,
a lot of families are going down because the students
are going down. The players are going down on Thursday
and spending the night in the Friday, so a lot
of the families are going Thursdays. So we're looking to
put something on on Broadway in Nashville for the families
(44:29):
down there to kind of have something to do as well.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Big time thank you to Sean Henry from the More
Class of nineteen eighty three. Sean has been in Jason
Fessler as well. He has helped out Boots on the
ground in Nashville to kind of.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
What Jason Fessler to give.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Take me to the Nashville's Zoom Man. I really like
that that venue, but we decided to go with the
golf simulator room and bar, so it'll be fun, big
good time.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Ye awesome, great show. I want to thank you again
Dan Feldman for jumping on the b and the big
shout out to Lorie Figer too, who's in house today
packing together all the Joe Rupert Hitting an Air t
shirts that will be launched at every stadium we visit
this year. My favorite one to shoot him is Ironton
because you can shoot him on the overhang underneath the
(45:17):
overhang that comes out over there. You haven't been to
ironton think of like I always think of like a
dog racing track with the overhang over the bleachers. I
hit him off the ceiling, bounce him down off the ceiling.
It's awesome. It's unbelievable, but yeah, it's a lot of fun.
So the big shout out to Lori Finger for helping
(45:37):
out wrap all the roll all those shirts. It's a
it's a big job and I think we got like
four or five hundred shirts. So Lori, thank you. Jason Aldine,
thank you.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
We may see him.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
We may see him. We also may have some stuff
to give away from some of these country music stars.
Speaker 4 (45:56):
People make a trippingly awesome.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
Like. So that's Daniel Bernard, Andy Nagel and Big Mo
Baard on the best water Wall coverage the country coverage
of Boeler High School. It's the b MP Big Mo
podcast on wm OE and the more broadcasting networks
