Speaker 2 (00:03):
Probably is that the Big Mo Podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
The Big Mod Podcast is brought to you by Craftspan
Electric and Revey Landscaping.

Speaker 4 (00:11):
And now your host's Andy Nagel and Big Mo Barrett.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
We're here at the Silver Spring House.

Speaker 5 (00:22):
Says it is Molar Night taking over and I'm taking
over here for Barrett Cohen as We're gonna do a
unique version of the Bert Bathy Annie Show with some
of the coaches filling in. As we do a show
every week, but this is not any normal week. This
is the grand kickoff to the season. It's also King

(00:43):
of the Block and it is just a great time
for Moler football. I'm Jeff Schneiedel. I am the voice
of the Crusaders. A lot of you here are usually
at the game, so you don't get to hear, but
you do hear the Coaches show, and that is the
Bert Bathy Andy Show.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Always great with the coach. Coach, how you doing tonight
and he's good to see it.

Speaker 6 (01:03):
Man.

Speaker 7 (01:03):
This is a little bit different environment.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
A little bit different than our Yeah, you know, we
kind of do it change the pace.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
You know what it's it's it's like you guys, playing
in different stadiums every week.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
You just got to adjust and figure it out. Just
adapt and go. Coach, we'll get to you in just
a second.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
But also have coach Michael Blum and also coach Nick
Sharp here that will join us here shortly. But coach,
it's uh, teams getting ready, We're all getting fired up,
and you know, this is this is what everybody has
worked for all year is coming into this.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
It's not just an opening game, but also the.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Importance especially with the alumni, this king of the Block
now that we've renewed with with Princeton, that's a great rivalry.
But what a fun week and it's and it's it's
here now. It's great for both teams.

Speaker 7 (01:50):
It's great for Moler, it's great for Princeton, it's great
for the city of Cincinnati. Just two iconic teams in
an iconic game that was the game across the for
so many years, and we're trying to make it that again.
So I know it's always listed is one of the
games to watch. So these are the games you lift
all them weights for and you run all them sprints
Ford but then when that moment comes, you just treat

(02:12):
it like any other game and try to take them
one play at a time and just let that stuff
come to you and then when your opportunity comes, take advantage.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
Coach, we renewed the rivalry starting last year. I think
the last time it was actually on the schedule was
two thousand and seven. Obviously we didn't meet them a
couple of years prior in the playoffs, but it's great
that it's on the schedule. A little unique, A little
twist is it's that first game right out of the shoot. Yeah,
Princeton's always good, Princeton's always athletic, Princeton's always quick, and

(02:41):
we're gonna have a lot of fun things to look
forward to.

Speaker 7 (02:44):
Yeah, I mean, they got a great football team. They
were pretty senior driven last year, a lot like us,
So there's gonna be a ton of new faces out
on the football field.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
But the one thing.

Speaker 7 (02:52):
That's still the same is they got a ton of
playmakers and they got a really good football team.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
So we're excited to play.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
Them, and we got to be completely prepared and have
a good week of practice to put a good product
out on the field.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
A lot of teams will start on Friday night, but
they're going to have this Marquee game specialty on Saturday,
So I'm sure the stands will be packed, not just
with Moler Princeton fans, but really people who want to
come out and see a great ball game. But I'm
sure there's going to be people from other schools wanting
to come see the squads.

Speaker 7 (03:20):
Yes, it's the kickoff for the season, so obviously there's
going to be a lot of excitement just to get
the season rolling. But like you said, what I think
is cool is everyone's going to get that out of
the way on Friday and then our game is I
think the only game really going on on Saturday. I
don't really know what everyone else's schedules like, but when
you have that game kind of by itself on Saturday,
I think it's going to draw a pretty huge crowd.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
So you kind of have to adjust a little bit
these first two weeks because we have Saturday games.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
And but I mean, the kids from last year, they
know the route too, used to it. That's no big
deal for us.

Speaker 7 (03:51):
We have a template for this, we have a plan
for this, and we've been through it before and our
staff is able to adapt for whatever anything there's a schedule,
especially after last year with all the different you know,
road trips that we have, but playing a Saturday game
is no big deal for us.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
Let's get to your assistant coaches here that helped lead
the way. Coach Blum with the offense, Coach Sharp with
the defense. Let's start with the offense. Coach had a
great offensive line last year. We had some kids come
in as far as filling in here and there, but
kind of starting a new and chance to build another
dynamic offensive line.

Speaker 8 (04:26):
Absolutely, we got a great group up front this year
from the senior driven just leadership all offseason, been in
a weight room, working hard and really buying into the
process throughout the summer. But as coach did, a lot
of new faces across the board on the offense and
throughout the team, and it's just really helpful. Is that
the challenge is to get better each week and play
our best ball at the end of the season.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
So that's the goal.

Speaker 8 (04:49):
Keeps it simple, and you know, the goal is to
also eliminate any kind of negative plays and run the
football and protect the quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Now, I've been doing this for several years, so if
this was your first road as far as assembling an
offensive line, I might be a little nervous, but you've
been down this road several times and you know what
it takes. So young men looking good this year for
the offensive line.

Speaker 8 (05:10):
Yeah, there's a lot of talent in the room, a
lot of guys with a really big upside, and you know,
you just got to stay healthy and keep it competitive.
Is that there's seven eight guys right now that have
been showing that they have the ability to go play
on Saturday night against Princeton. So keep the rotation and
again keeps guys sharp, keep guys focused, and really creates

(05:31):
that competitive spirit within the unit to play at your
very best.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
And let's just round out the offense, both coaches. I mean,
we got some great skilled players coming back, so that
that certainly helps a lot of a lot of experience,
especially in the backfield and wide receivers. We lost some
great receivers, but we also have some great guys coming
back as well.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
There's still there's a.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
Decent amount of guys last year that Matt was able
to spread the ball round. And obviously you lost three
of them and Matt Roman and Javon, but Carson k
was coming back. I had a great junior year. Landon
Adams coming back with a great junior year as well.
You add in Cooper McCutcheon and Sam Hamilton with the
tight ends, and then our running back room really came

(06:12):
back from last year. I mean when you have Gray Low,
Coach Tyler, Jocelyn Dante Ware and we have a lot
of young guys that have stepped up as well, young
Softmorores jack Like, that running back room is crazy deep,
and our tight end room is crazy deep too with Jackson,
Meerdink and Tristan Jackson and you know Will Olman as

(06:32):
well and Kleim mahoney right Like, we got a lot
of guys that have a lot of upside that we're
excited about. And then at receiver, we have a cool
group of guys that have been rotating quite a bit
throughout the year that have had a really good summer.
So we're excited to see everyone get on the field
and do the thing.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
It'd be great to see the offense displayed. Now, let's
flip over to coach Sharp and coach uh as as
it happens in high school football. Kids, move on, you
got kids coming up. Tell us a little bit about
the defense this year.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, kids, But that's why you do it.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
You know, we really have about three major contributors coming back.
But the big good thing is being here for a
few years now that even the young guys and you know,
this is the only scheme that they know. The seniors,
you know, my first year here was when they were sophomores.
They bought in. So whether they've really been big contributors
on the field or not, it's the fact that you know,
they know the culture, they know the scheme, they know
what we're doing. So excited for them to get their opportunities.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
Does it make you feel more comfortable being here a
couple of years that the kids have grown into it.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yes, absolutely, And it's not only just that, it's just
the relationships that you built and you know how to
coach them. You know what they need and how to
drive them. And that's a big thing that continuity.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Brings Opening day exciting, oh always.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
You know, that's where we do it for Coach already
mentioned it. You know, you go through the summer runs
a lift. It happens fast. You know, it's out of
nowhere that all of a sudden, hey it's game week,
we're here.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
It seems like it's two months away. It's four now now,
it's it's right upon us. It's good stuff. So and
what a crowd here here at the Silver spring House
is we have the Moeller Football Kickoff show and coaches,
just go do your thing on Saturday and get the
kids ready and you'll always appreciate, always appreciate your time
at getting out the Moler nation.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Thanks guys, go big.

Speaker 5 (08:10):

We're back here at the Silver Spring House as it
is Molar Night here it's the Silver Spring House.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Also, we're doing a.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
Special edition of the Coach Bert Pathyani Show as we
are now welcoming in several of the captains for the
Molar Cruide. And let's just run through as far as
the captains of this year, Matt Ponatowski, Cooper McCutcheon, Grant,
Emery Tyler, Jocelyn Christian Harris, Connor Cuzzo, and Andrew stoff Coo.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Did I miss anybody?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
You did?

Speaker 10 (12:15):
Not?

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Sounds good?

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Did I pronounce everybody's names right? Because I have to
do that for the game, So mine sounded good?

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Okay, I know a couple of years ago he had
a little uh. No one told me, huh, it's all good. No,
it didn't huh it did not?

Speaker 2 (12:29):
All right? All right, all right, guys, let's start off
here with Matt.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Matt, you're a returning captain, starting a little bit of
a new tradition. I see Andrew Stoffko being a junior.
Used to never be juniors that were captains. But you
guys all earned it.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 11 (12:45):
I think you know Andrew this, yeares, he showed a
lot of maturity at a young age and you know,
he definitely deserves it, and it's it's the best.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Man up for the job.

Speaker 11 (12:57):
You know, I don't think really the great matters. So
if sophomore is the best guy for the for the spot,
then he's gonna get it. And you know, this year
it was Andrew being a junior, So you know, I
think it's mainly seniors, but you know, last few years
we've been sneaking in a few juniors.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Sure, well, it's uh, it's certainly an honor because it's
it's done in house, correct, It's it's the whole, it's
the whole, moler the team, votal team, and it's uh
that you know, you got to make it happen. So Grant,
I understand, are you flipping sides of the ball this year?

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yes, sir, I was a quarterback last year the year before.
But switching over to defense, now, sure, how are you
comfortable over there? Are you liking it?

Speaker 11 (13:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Loving her that safety so far?

Speaker 5 (13:36):
We I think we had a young man that did
that a couple of years ago that has done very
very well. So you're looking to keep that tradition going
a little different view. Did you have you played defense before?

Speaker 2 (13:46):
I have in the pass. Yes, okay, so you're good
with it? Yeah, nothing new, nothing new?

Speaker 7 (13:51):
Is it is?

Speaker 3 (13:51):
It?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Is it hard garden passes and from this guy and
what this guy is going to catch? Yeah, it is
h It was pretty good to go an Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Good competition every day.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
All right, Well, what's I'll be calling your name a
lot with some tackles and well hopefully the guys up
front will tackle you.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Just come up with the with the help, right right, Yeah,
there you go, there you go perfect, all right. Cooper McCutcheon, sir,
how you doing? I'm great? How are you all right?

Speaker 12 (14:16):
So?

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Uh, first year captain as well? Yes, sir? What an honor?
Is that?

Speaker 13 (14:21):
Super excited? It's it's an honor. It was awesome to
be voted by the team to be a captain.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
All right.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
So you've also committed to go down down south to
play for kind of a little famous coach. But we're
not gonna worry about that this year, right, We're gonna
take care of business.

Speaker 13 (14:36):
Stay focused on the season at hand right now.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
All right?

Speaker 5 (14:39):
So, uh, offensively, I'm Matt. You and you and Coop
here have a lot nice little connection.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
How nice is that? After? I mean, this is really
your third year of doing this.

Speaker 11 (14:51):
Yeah, it's kind of like when Joe Burrow said that
about Jamar Chase. He's just gonna be down there somewhere.
It's kind of like, you know, throw it up and
Cooper's a chance to come down with it. So it
makes my job a lot easier and uh, kind of
like a you know, when you're in trouble, just get
it to them somehow.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
I love hearing that.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Well, and you have guys like Cooper that have you know,
obviously caught a lot of passes.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Last year.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
We lost some great receivers, but also we have some
great receivers coming back. And the one thing that is
nice is the ball gets spread around the line. I know, Cooper,
you throw it, throw number eight more definitely, but it's
nice that it spreads it around because it certainly keeps
that defense uh a little bit concerned.

Speaker 11 (15:30):
Yeah, I mean I tell our guys, Uh, there's you
got to like take every rep like you're going to
get the ball, because I feel like I can. I
can do some things that just are kind of out
of the ordinary and you don't expect them. So there's
not a throw in the field that I I am
not confident in making, so you know, definitely in practice
that you know, I'm trying things and seeing how they work,

(15:51):
and you know, in the game, uh, I think I
think the practice reps kind of just translate and we
all have a bunch of confidence and the ball can
really anywhere at any time.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Well, we look forward to all you guys being great
representatives as you have been obviously for the school you get.
You know, this isn't something taken lightly and obviously everyone
getting that. But h if you could say being a
captain in one word, what would that be, Matt will
start with you, put you on the spot, the hot
seat like a defensive liignment, chasing, chasing after you.

Speaker 11 (16:22):
One word to describe being a captain opportunity, And I
think opportunity is just uh an opportunity to to be
able to lead a team and be the voice of
the team. So to be able to do it for
a second years is super. It's just a blessing and

(16:42):
look look forward to doing it.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Grant you got a little extra time, so you got
you got you got to go through the metal dictionary there,
give us, give us something with that.

Speaker 14 (16:50):
I definitely think it's a privilege to be a captain.
You know, being voted by your uh you know, your
teammates is a big thing. I think that it's for
sure a privilege for all of us to be able
to present our team and you know, the games and
practice and you know where what everybody looks up to,
know where the standard. We try to keep us as
the standard, so everybody can you know, play up to us.

(17:10):
So I think that privilege would be a good word
to describe that.

Speaker 13 (17:15):
I think, uh, serve would be a good word because
I think all captains their job is to serve the
team and be the voice for the guys that don't
necessarily have a voice on the team. Kind of just
be that that mediator between coach B and all the
kids on the team. So, I mean, serving is definitely
one of the main things that all captains have to do.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
And kind of like the leaders like the house system,
like you are in school, you got to you got
to bring the younger guys along. So you guys, are
you guys excited that finally after all the work, it's like, man,
it's like game week, this is like this, this is
what you go for, right, Yeah.

Speaker 11 (17:44):
I think it's what you've been working working on since January,
every every workout that nobody sees that's behind the scenes,
it all kind of lets go and we we go
put it on the field for other people to see.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Uh, come Saturday.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
And I know last year maybe didn't end the way
we liked it, but still a heck of a year
and a lot of great things out of that. But
it seems like you guys are on a little bit
of a mission this year.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Got some fire in our stomach. Okay, all right, you
guys ready for this week? Yes, sir, t it up?
Ye wish we were playing tomorrow.

Speaker 11 (18:17):
Oh, I wish we're playing right now.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
Doesn't make any any big deal that there's there's a
bunch of games on Friday, and as I call it,
the marquee game of the weekend is on Saturday.

Speaker 11 (18:27):
Yeah, everybody comes to watch us on Saturday. You know,
there's a bunch of games to go to on Friday,
but you know you got one big one on Saturday
to come watch.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
All right, guys, it's a lot of work.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
You guys have done great and congrats on being captains
and the leaders out there, and bring bring the youngins
along and bring everybody along, right, Yes, sir one game
at a time. Just just printed it on our mind right, Yes,
it's all be all right, guys, thanks for joining.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Us, Thank you, thank you. Those are three of them.

Speaker 5 (18:54):

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Let's get it.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
We're back here at the Silver Springhouse as W MOE
and the Molar Broadcasting Network is bringing a special edition
of the Bert Bathyani Show.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
I'm Jeff Schneidel class.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Of nineteen eighty four also bring the games every game day.
And it's as I just mentioned to a couple of
the guys here, it's it's nice seeing them without their
helmets on and actually see their faces. Joining me right
now are three more captains, Tyler, Jocelyn Connor, Cuzzo and
Christian Harris.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Gentlemen, it's game week. Are we good? Yes?

Speaker 7 (21:17):
Sir?

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Are we excited? All right?

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Tyler, let's start with you as far as we actually
all three of you doing the games the last couple
of years and I know all three of you. The
last two years, I've called your names a lot, so
pretty special. Now it's your senior year. Tell me, tell
me how everything's progressed getting here to your senior year
and becoming a captain.

Speaker 12 (21:37):
Yeah, I'd say I've had a different road than these
two to my right, I've struggled a lot to even
get on the field. I started as a quarterback behind Matt,
and I realized I had no chance of getting on
the field. We have some great competition in the QB room,
So I did what I was good at, switch to

(21:58):
running back, and I'm very happy to be able.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
To contribute today. He did pretty good with him, Thank you,
Thank you.

Speaker 12 (22:04):
I've always been a running quarterback, so I had to
learn to run low, lower my shoulder a little bit,
not just run out of bounds. But I think it's
been a blessing to play on such a good team
with great o'lignment in front of me.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
All right, Connor Cuzzo over on the defensive side, huh.
I know, some big interceptions, some big hits over the years.
And now it's finally your senior year. What what what are.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
You thinking now?

Speaker 5 (22:30):
And being a captain and coming into the first first
game of the of the year.

Speaker 16 (22:35):
Yeah, I mean being a captain, he has a lot
of responsibility. We have a lot to make sure that
we need to do to get the team ready each week.
And you know, when you do something for two or
three years, like you start to understand the game a
lot better and you start to.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
See things differently.

Speaker 16 (22:49):
So you know, be in the third year on barsity
helps to you know, be able to look at the
game in a way of someone who has done it.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
And as far as doing the games, I got you
guys are keeping your numbers from last year or you're
changing your numbers?

Speaker 14 (23:04):
Give it up?

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Okay? Thirty six?

Speaker 5 (23:08):
All right, and that's Christian Harris is Christian. You're number
ninety seven, correct?

Speaker 2 (23:13):
All right?

Speaker 5 (23:14):
That's all good. And uh, I mean the broadcaster needs
some help here. I mean, you want to get seniors
and everyone changes numbers. You got to try to figure
it out. But we get it done. So Christian again,
as all three of you got playing time as sophomores
and a lot as juniors. Uh, what's it mean to
you as far as being a captain and here here
at Moller High.

Speaker 17 (23:31):
School, it means a lot you know, this school is
good to around history and then you know are six.
You know we're gonna be in the history books, you know.
So it's it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
And you know.

Speaker 17 (23:44):
How we do this year is gonna build off of us.
So we're we're gonna have to do a lot of
great things. You know, coach young players, coolso, coaching the linebackers,
Tyler coaching running backs and you know me d Lyman.
You know, having a lot of neoty linemen, it's gonna
be great. So trying to teach them guys to do

(24:04):
what's right and do their win eleven because if you
do your one eleven, you're gonna win big games.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
So feel responsibility about bringing the younger the younger pops
into into getting some playing time.

Speaker 17 (24:15):
Yep in you know, owing each other accountable.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
There you go, all right. I put everybody on the
spot the first go around. I don't know if you
heard it, but I said, give me one word what
it means Molar High School, senior year and being a captain.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Tyler, We're gonna start with you.

Speaker 16 (24:30):
I'd say dedication.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
I was here.

Speaker 12 (24:33):
I was at Moler for about fourteen hours today. So
we started off with a big senior thing. But you
got to learn your playbook. You gotta constantly be putting
yourself in the position to execute at the highest level.
So if that means you're going through the hallways thinking
about how you would juke the guy right in front
of you, or you know, visualizing how you're gonna win

(24:55):
on the field when you get a little prayer time
or whatever, it's all every minute is only gonna make
you better and more prepared for a big game like
Princeton King on the Block, uh gcl games, all that stuff.

Speaker 18 (25:09):
It really matters.

Speaker 12 (25:10):
So you got to constantly be working if you want
to succeed at the highest level.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Awesome Connor.

Speaker 16 (25:15):
I'll go back to a word I used it earlier,
which is responsibility. You know, if things aren't going well,
we're gonna be the first guys that people come to.
People look at fat and it's up to us to
make sure we get our guys back on track, you know,
make sure we're doing the little thing and right cleaning
up the buses after games, staying late to clean up
the locker room. You know, those are all little things.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
And oh you guys don't get a free pass because
you're captain. Yeah, no, no, you gotta make sure it
gets done, right, Yeah, got a baby.

Speaker 16 (25:41):
Nobody's gonna nobody's gonna see those things outside of, you know,
our locker room. But we gotta make sure it gets done.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
It's the little things, right, yeah, sir? All right, Christian
one word putting you on the spot.

Speaker 17 (25:51):
Grind, because it's a grind. You know last year we
went sixteen weeks. Yeah, well really eighteen weeks? Question Scrimmist's well,
let's do this again. Yeah, no, huh so it's gonna
be your grind. Yeah, you know, even when your body's
hurt him, you got to push through it. So is
this really a grind?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
All right?

Speaker 7 (26:09):
So?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Uh but this is your fourth year through it?

Speaker 5 (26:11):
So uh so, uh, time time has gone kind of
quick here at Molar High School.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
That's the guys gonna finish it off, right, Oh yeah
for sure.

Speaker 16 (26:19):
Huh sure, guy, I'm finished business.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
All right. Well, let's let's keep it focused.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
So that is three more of the captains here for
the twenty twenty five edition of The Molar Crusaders. Tyler,
Jocelyn Connor, Cuzo, Christian Harris. Thanks guys for joining in,
and uh have a great season, but uh, let's just
take care of the first week.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Thanks for joining us.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
All right, We're gonna take a short break and then

Speaker 3 (29:27):
You're live from Silver Spring House in Cincinnati on the
Big Moo Podcast. And we have one more Andy Nagle,
one more Captain and a little unusual because this guy
is a junior with an am Andy Nagle a legacy.
I mean, you got Faust, Give me some other ones,
but not that one. Give me some other ones. When

(29:49):
you think of more. You got Faust, you got McCutcheon, Crable, Crabel,
you got jigs Uh, you got I'm trying to think,
you got h coach Clawnie. You got Clawnie. You think
of the big names of the Molar family. Stop, stopf Cagle.
Stoff goes another one, and Andrew Stoff Go is a
junior here. I'm not sure he's ever talked more than

(30:14):
he's gonna talk to you. Gotta smile, good, good thing.
You look like your mother. You know what your smiles
out this side of Greg Stoffgo Andrew stoffgo, junior. Welcome
to the Big mo Podcast. Thank you all right? Now,
how many juniors in the history of Molar football his
bad window? How many juniors? Greg was supposed to give

(30:35):
me a bunch of stats last night he said, I'm
gonna I'm gonna send it to you today, and now
I'm gonna hear the excuses why it's not here yet trivia,
But uh, we're gonna get a bunch of trivia for
the tailgates, hopefully by next season. But we got Greg, Greg,
how many juniors have ever been captain of more? Do
you know? We stumped? We stumped Greg Stoff Goo Tick

(30:56):
Peerman Andrew. What was it like when you found out
you were going to be a captain as a junior
on this Moller football team?

Speaker 18 (31:03):
Breathtaking for sure. Honestly, I'm still kind of shocked about
it to put it in words, but yeah, there's no
words that can express the amount of excitement I had.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
So what a lot of people don't know are the
guys that I guess we're applying or the seniors and
maybe juniors had to do a speech in front of
their peers about why they should be a captain. I'm
not going to ask you to repeat yours. I'm gonna
have Cooper do that. Who's sitting to your right, Cooper McCutcheon,
But what was your message into the guys why you
would be a guy, an underclassman, a junior who could

(31:39):
lead this football.

Speaker 18 (31:40):
Team mainly my confidence in the team that we're building,
mostly the underclassmen, building trust with them and having confidence
in building that brotherhood and that football team that we're
meant to be.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Andy, what I love about Molar High School is the
legacies and the people. We all always talk about standing
on the shoulders of giants, and we mentioned a bunch
of names of those guys who would check that box.
You got the klonies, you got the fouls, you can
go down the line.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
We don't want to leave anybody out. How important is it, though,
to keep that in baseball? What do they call it?
Keep the line moving right? Same thing with the legacy,
is the alumni director here at more or how important
is it for you to see guys with similar last
names continue that legacy.

Speaker 10 (32:25):
It's awesome, especially because I you know, I close affinity
with with your uncle Jimmy, and then obviously your your
dad was a year behind me at Molar, and I
know your brother, Mike, God rest his soul, played with
my brother. What's what's it mean? I mean, you're a
staff co at Molar High School. That's heavy, bro.

Speaker 18 (32:44):
I mean, it's a dream come true. It's what you
look forward to as a kid, and I mean I
mean you.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
You've lived it since you were born.

Speaker 10 (32:50):
I know your dad had pictures of you in a
football's and.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
When when you went home that night and your dad's
told me there were some tears that were shared when
you How did you tell your mom and dad, specifically
your dad and what was that reaction like when you
told your dad that I've been nominated as a captain
of the Moror football team. What was that moment like.

Speaker 18 (33:10):
I walked in, I told him, and I mean tears
were shed, honestly, I mean it was right away. It
was immediate from him, very emotional time for me and
my family.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
When I told him, Cooper, I'm gonna have you pick
up the headset there because you know you and Cooper
are tight. We just had Cooper on just a few
moments ago. Cooper, you talk about a guy like Andrew
Stofkoe and you see a junior kind of come up
and there. Let's be honest, there were probably some seniors
that maybe were a little taken back at first. Right,
what does Andrew Stoppko junior mean? Cause you've been here

(33:42):
four years now, guy from Lebanon, Cooper to see a
guy with his family legacy come up and take a
leading role in his team. What does that mean to
you as one of the captains? Senior captains well.

Speaker 13 (33:51):
First of all, out of the juniors in that class,
I think stoff Go is one of the very few
that needed to make that decision to go out for captain.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
I think he people could opt in to be to
apply to be a captain's outwork.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
It could be anybody.

Speaker 13 (34:03):
You could be a freshman going up to be a
sophomore and apply for captain, But how many juniors applied?

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Uh? Was it just you? I think it was just you?
Just him.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
What's that say to you when you see a guy
steps outside of his comfort zone to apply for a
captain spot like that?

Speaker 13 (34:16):
Well, last year I didn't have the balls do it,
I'll tell you that. So and I think I don't
think I was ready to take it on a leadership
role last year. And I think Stoffko is one hundred
percent ready to take on a leadership role on this team.
And I think him getting voted as a captain as
a junior shows that his peers and everybody around him
thinks he's ready to take on that leadership role Andrew.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
I honestly, it wasn't that I forgot to interview you.
But Cooper came over and reminded me and says, make
sure you get Andrew on the air. And I'm like,
oh my god, I forgot to get him on the
air as well. What's that mean to have the support
of these guys heaving your back everything? I mean, it's
so comforting to have like a leader group of leaders
like them, to just have my back at all times.

Speaker 10 (34:53):
Coop does this guy in the locker room? I mean
he's like a quiet assassin man?

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Is he?

Speaker 10 (34:59):
Is he lead example? Or has he got a big
voice in that locker room? Or is a little bit
of both.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
He's not quiet, he's loud. He's always yelling our ground.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
So so in school you save it all for the
locker room?

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Is that what it?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Because I can't fund you with a search warrant in
the school or hear you at all.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
So you're different in the locker room.

Speaker 18 (35:14):
Oh for sure. I mean you got to get pumped
for something.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Yeah, I like it all right.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
So what are some of your personal goals as you
lead this football team as a junior?

Speaker 18 (35:23):
I mean, obviously take one week at a time, get
each victory as it comes, but obviously the ultimate goal
would be State.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
I mean, we were there last year.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
It hurt.

Speaker 18 (35:34):
It hurt me a lot, hurt the seniors a lot,
and mostly it's for the seniors. I would love to
get on a run again and go up there and
take it homeless time.

Speaker 10 (35:42):
But you guys have walked that whole season, went through
basically everything. You've gone back up there during the summer.
You went up there last week to Maslin. So it's
it's business. Now, it's business every week where all that
stuff is already done. You've already played in that big stadium,
you played in front of all those fans. You know,

(36:03):
you had that heartbreak obviously, and now it's hey, let's
do this. We've we've been there, done that, and now's
the time ago starting on Saturday, four o'clock against.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
King of the Block Princeton. That's right. It was your
thoughts on that.

Speaker 10 (36:16):
I know that's a big rivalry, dude, and you've lived
it with your family. Talking a little bit about Saturday's game,
what are you defensively? You're not going to tell any
secrets here. You got a pro bowler crowd but defensively,
what are you looking at from Princeton's offense?

Speaker 2 (36:32):
What do they show? Immedic scimatic Here you go, big.

Speaker 18 (36:36):
Big run team, not a lot of motion. But if
we stop the run, stop the triple option, I think
we'll be fun.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Triple options tough to guard too. Sometimes I believe Goop,
you don't have to worry about stopping a triple option,
do you? I do not, Just get open, Just get open.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
That's Cooper McCutcheon, senior captain of the football team. Andrew
Stofko as well. Thank you guys for joining us. This
guy is sitting to your right. He could be a captain.
Little Matthews, that could be a future captain here at
Mueller High School. Line the baby, he can just get
maybe a little bit bigger like his dad, Chap. We
got to get him up here to do a little
pep talk.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
We'll do that.

We got Carter Matthews here, but here are you now?
Put that mic next year?

Speaker 2 (39:09):
He's a rock.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
You're a big junior. You got learn how to do
mike placement before you have any entertain any idea of
becoming a captain on this football team.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
You gotta work on that.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Carter. We're gonna tee up your dad here in a
minute to give us a partying pep talk about the
twenty twenty five football season. Michael, take another dread. Finish
that off because I'm coming to you in a minute.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Carter.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
I remember you as a Silvercat, which, by the way,
two of the greatest years in Silvercat history. By the way,
not that we're going to bring that up, right, We
don't have to bring that up again, and to see
you grow not just physically, but from from a as a.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Man of Molar.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Now, what's the first couple of years that you put
in here at Moler. What's it meant to you? And
how's it make you a better man today?

Speaker 20 (39:50):
You know it was great coming from Silvercats. I had
my vision from coming to Saint Clembon and becoming a
Silvercat was go to Molar. That was an all time
goal from seventh grade basically from the beginning of looking
through high schools and where to go. So coming in
as a freshman was a well, just big for me.
I love to had a great year and coming into

(40:11):
sophomore year trying to grow, try and develop. And now's
my junior year. So it's Thoma Shine.

Speaker 10 (40:16):
What was your biggest a judgment going from that the
big Cat to Big Mo It was physically as a player.

Speaker 20 (40:23):
Physically as a player, I grew a lot. I gained
about fifty pounds or so of strength, and I grew
about four or five inches or so and just became
a better player. And switched from offense and linebacker to
d liman and that's been going great for me.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
So yeah, awesome, good stuff. Can't wait to watch you
tear it up. Part of the Havoc mob, right, Oh yeah,
Havoc mob.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
Baby.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
I want to see some dunks in that basketball hooping
the sideline. Maybe not you, but maybe maybe great Emory
who's back in the back there.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
I want to tell you to make a couple of ducks, Captain.
Could you dunk? Though? Even at a small hoop like that.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
If you happen to now, it's a plumble recovery two counts, right, Yeah, yeah,
I see you dope. This year it's gotta be's gotta
be a low basket.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
You might see him dunk on the goal post.

Speaker 6 (41:05):
I mean.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
That's dad talking right there, because I got a better
chance lending on the moon than you do getting over
that goal past.

Speaker 10 (41:13):
You ever talking, you better talk to coach if you're
gonna if you're gonna dunk on the gold post's coming out.
All right.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
We're gonna mute Carter's Mike. We're gonna cueue up some
music here, because the best part of Motown and mogate
usually after he's he's feeling pretty good. We're firing up
the music here. I need Michael Man. What is this song?
Joe Strecker? Pop up, Michael Matthews I want you to
give them millions of people out there a pop up

(41:42):
talk why this football team is gonna be back at Canton.
Give me the juice and give it to me now.

Speaker 6 (41:48):
It's about the grit, it's about the grinding, and this
team has it.

Speaker 3 (41:53):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 6 (41:54):
The hot summers, the hot summers the weight room. I
mean coach Gray, I mean, where where is he here?

Speaker 2 (42:02):
He's in bed.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
He's got already.

Speaker 6 (42:04):
Bet I'll tell you what. He got this team ready.
I'm gonna tell you what that's That's where it starts.
It starts in that weight room in the summer. It
starts to know it's grimy day, where it's foggy outside.
You're on the turf, Gay, you're fired up.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
Let me tell you this.

Speaker 6 (42:16):
Let me tell you this football. Football is about. Hey,
it's one day at a time, taking big chunks, big chunks,
big chunks. And this team has done it. They've done
the work.

Speaker 3 (42:24):
Michael Laurin who's in Super Bowl champions talking and he
listen to what he has to say, tell you this
man went some unbelievable It's it's.

Speaker 6 (42:32):
Very simple, man. Football is now hard man. It's about
putting the grind in, put the work in, and then
let us see. Let us show on Friday nights, this
and all the players. This is the best level of football.
Mar nine. The NFL is fine, you get paid, that's great,
But this you get a pitch in and all the
fun stuff.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
But then though, yeah, yeah, I was super I went
before anil free an ile.

Speaker 6 (42:55):
But this right here is the best Saturday. Saturdays are
pretty good. I want out with the man. You know,
Jordan's Tech versus Georgia. You know those are good fields
are good days. Michael Mohlenburg Princeton at Claremont, uh North.
What is it Clamont, Claimont, Clairemont.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
I don't know, as it matter, Michael, Claremont, doesn't matter
where we play or where we playing play in the
parking lot. Let's go, Michael matth Michael Supermo chant your prediction.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
Sixteen to no right.

Speaker 15 (43:23):
You know what? You know what?

Speaker 3 (43:25):
This is it right here?

Speaker 6 (43:26):
Yeah, sixteen and zero with very I'm gonna tell you this,
no game is all easy game.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Right.

Speaker 6 (43:34):
We're gonna have to earn our strike, you know what
I mean, We're gonna have to hit someone in the
mouth to earn it.

Speaker 3 (43:38):
But yes, I'm believe in this team could do it.

Speaker 12 (43:40):
I do.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Michael Matthews. You heard it from the goat the Super
Bowl play by all Man. Let's line up right now.
