Speaker 1 (00:01):
Wmoe and the Mola Broadcasting that probably was that. The
Big Mo Podcast. The Big Mo Podcast is brought to
you by Craftsman Electric and Revey Landscaping and now your
hosts Andy Nagle and Big Mo Barrett. It's the Big
Mo Podcast. And this time he's back in the house.
I'm excited about this because usually Andy Nagle, he's usually
(00:22):
an iHeartRadio, but we got him in house for the
production of this show. We have an on site producer,
Joe Streker. Joe, Welcome to the Big Mo Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Was just coming up just to visit and say Hi.
I didn't realize they're gonna get a microphone this.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Big time brother he Andy Nagle. The acoustics weren't great,
the speaker system and things that we you know, in
you get into a live show environment, which Joe will
tell you, you always have variables that you sometimes can't control.
But all and all, it was a pretty cool event
on Monday night at Silver Spring House.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Absolutely they rolled out the blue and gold carpet for
our family and friends and uh packed house. If that
showed anybody anything is we need to look at bigger venues,
bigger spaces, And I'm not you know, I don't want
to bad mouth the Silver Spring House because it is
Molar North and they take great care of us. But
I think with that crowd we could have probably filled
(01:17):
the entire other side of Silver Spring House.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, that was a little bit of a concern I had,
you know, talking to Silver Spring House, they are absolutely incredible.
You're right, they're awesome. You know, we didn't know how
many people would show up, so we couldn't take the
other even a sliver of the other restaurant in case
we were expecting we'll say, ten show up, then they
lose all those customers. So there's a little bit of
that involved. But it was Listen, it was cool to
(01:43):
get the kids up there, the coaches. I can tell
you nobody left not having fun. I mean, it was
it was a special as a blast. It was. It
was awesome and it really a good kick off to
what we have coming up with Molar High School football
coming up kicking off on Saturday. A lot of people
talking about this Moller football team. Are they the number
(02:03):
one ranked team in the state, number one in Cincinnati.
I think we should go to like Dewan Francisco and
see what Dewan Francisco on the Big Mo Podcast Class
of eighty five. He's a domer from Notre Dame. Dewan Francisco,
What do you think about this Moller football team on
the Big Mo Podcast? Give me your prediction, anything sort
(02:26):
of Canton, I'm going to hang up on you. Give
me a full report.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Then teen has all the ingredients to be successful. I
got a leadership, great quarterback, great coaching. They got a death,
so they got all the and they worked hard. I
was up on campus, which Chus Gray. The weight room
was full, so they got all the ingredients, put in
all the hard work. Now I just got to go
(02:50):
out and do it on the field.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Dwan, what was it like before a Molar football game
in your time here at Moler, maybe even up in
South Bend before Notre Dame football game. There's anxieties, right,
I mean, you do put in all the work. You know,
some people will say if you put in the work
and you believe in the scheme and you trust the process,
there's really nothing to be nervous about. But inherently, at
(03:12):
the end of the day, we're talking about high school boys,
there's got to be a lot of emotion, a lot
of anxiety, a lot of young kids that are coming
up that maybe haven't played under the bright lights. Although
Saturday there won't be lights, but you get what I'm saying.
Walk me through your memories of that week before the
first game and what was going through your mind.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Well, I just remember. The one thing about being a
program like Moler is that everybody has a pre game mentality.
So you got guys, a lot of the guys, first team,
second teams are taken the week seriously as they prepare
for the big game. And usually when you have a
big game, number one the school, the buzz all is automatic,
(03:50):
is genuine. So when you play a team, you know,
open up against the Prince and the buzz is going
to be naturally there, versus playing a team that doesn't
have a good football tradition but want So you've got
to be focused going into the game. The film, the
workouts that you're doing just to kind of keep the
muscles toned. That's already there, so you're doing that. The
(04:13):
other thing is just staying focused and knowing your assignments. Uh,
you know, you break into team meetings with your position
and you're just staying focused and you're just zoning in
on those and as you get closer to the game,
you know the game plan. Now you're just ready to
go out and do it and execute. So that's the
next step is once you get to around Friday, whether
it's a PEP rally or not, in the buzz in
(04:35):
the school, you're just ready to go out and do
it and let all the hard work pay off and
see that pay off. So I think when I look
back at it, you know, you go, you know, being
in touch of the bused virgin, you know, starting your
day or starting the game, getting on the bus and
you're focused, and everybody's in that game mode mentality. You're
(04:57):
just ready to go out and just hit somebody new.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
DJ real DJ.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
You know.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
We open up with Princeton this week. The King of
the Bloc rivalry. Is it really a rivalry? Looking at
our record, we're thirty nine and seven against the Princeton Vikings,
But it is that rivalry. You played in this game,
you had friends that played for Princeton. Obviously your teammates
(05:23):
here at Mueller talk a little bit about that Princeton
Molar rivalry.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
You know, it's not as much as you just described,
as I agree with you, it's like it's not much
of a rivalry as much as it is a mutual
respect because you know, those guys touched some athletes over there.
They had some good coaches back in the day. And
I used to hear it all the time, you know
at Tom Wadell and all these guys, Mark Kamposta, they
lived in our Princeton school district, especially Watts who went
(05:50):
to I think on the elementary school. That those guys
would have come to Princeton, then you know, we would
be beating you guys kind of thing. So you know,
so guys played against each other in Little League, so
they're familiar with each other. They respect each other's talent,
and when you play a game like Preston, you know
they got some athletes over there. So again that's it's
(06:13):
more of a respect in a rivalry. And so you know,
we're going to go out and do what we've done
in the past, and whether it's a couple of games
ago when we came from behind and spank them, and
hopefully this year we won't wait until you know, the
get behind to jump on them, and we just jump
on them early and take the energy and the momentum
(06:33):
away from them early and just taken toll of the game.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
DJ, Joe Strucker here, I got what everyone wants to
know is one question, who's going to win Saturday?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Big Moe?
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Give us a score?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
DJ, You're going to walk out of this by just saying,
Big Mo, you've watched this team practice. I want to
know schematics, x's and o's. Joe Strucker, put it on
a t for you. You gotta give us more than
they're gonna win. You're on TV, you're on CBS right now,
it's the pregame show. If you just say they're gonna win,
(07:08):
they're gonna fire you. I need a full report from
DJ Francisco on what he thinks is going to happen
on Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
You know, as I say thirty five fourteen, I think
all special team's gonna do something special. Uh, they're gonna
they're gonna score. Defense gonna help the offense up by converting, uh,
causing some turnovers so they have a short feel. So
I think we're gonna least score at least five or
six touchdowns, don't don't you? Fourteen?
Speaker 2 (07:36):
And the other question, DJ, is where in the stadium
are you're going to be to sign autographs?
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Yes, I'll be the guy next to the concession stat
if not, if not, if not in.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
It, if not in it, right, find the guy with
a hot dog in his hand. I thought DJ was
gonna go like, we gotta put it, we gotta, we
gotta play good fundamental football, you know, we gotta we
gotta win the turnover possession to get a hat on
a hat, you know, all those three all three phases. Yeah,
I thought you were going to say something like that,
so I was impressed. DJ, as always, thank you so much.
(08:09):
I'm still waiting confirmation that you will be joining Joe
Strecker myself Chris Menninger. On the ride down to Ireton,
you told me about three weeks ago you got to
look at your schedule. I don't know where that schedule is,
but we're still waiting to know if the Ironton Masses
will finally get to meet Dewan Francisco.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
Hey, I'm looking forward to that. I'm going to take
into my schedule.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Work it in. Notre Dame's got a big game there.
I don't they have Texas Tech or something.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
They got there at the You the very next day,
on that Sunday Sunday night, at you.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Well, then this sounds like looks like we've just checked
your schedule. You'll be in Ironton.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Then you can fly right to Miami.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, then you can go to Miami the next day.
I mean you can take Ironton International and border TELT.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
That's awesome, A double a double problem.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Yeah, for sure, that invisible imaginary airport for a while.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Just send for coach Holtz's private luxury chef.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Joe Strecker as a private plane. That's how we're getting
down to Ironton. So I'm sure whole flight to Miami,
it's I believe DJ. Thank you so much for appearing
once again on the b MP. That's Dewan Francisco the
goat coming on the BMP. You knew he's right though.
There's so much anxiety. You don't know what you have,
but you got to lean into your work ethic and
(09:35):
what you did, and you had a prediction you wrote
down there. You want to share your prediction.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
I think, you know, talking to you and talking to
a lot of people that have really watched this team
practice and scrimmage, I think they're going to have to
win a few games shootout fashion, and I think we
have the offense to do that. Defense is young, and
I know you've talked about a Barrett in the past
that this team will get better as the year goes on.
(10:00):
So you know, at twenty eight to twenty one, that
seems to be the normal score of a Mohler Princeton game.
So I'll go twenty eight twenty one, Big mo.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Joe Strecker. I need your prediction, and I need it now.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Well, the offensive line is young, right, they're big, but
they're big, but they're but they're young, inexperienced. I'm gonna
go see. I'll go thirty one seventeen.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Oh, you guys like some points on the board for
this one. I think though, you guys are both kind
of in that ballpark. That is Joe Strecker, the executive
Producer of the Year at iHeartRadio. Actually he's a twenty
time winner of the back year. I know at least
the executive time in a row Brian Thomas show in
a row in a row consecutive, Andy Nagel and I
will be back Andie Nagel. Look at those girls in there.
(10:48):

Speaker 5 (12:48):
Yeah, let's go enough if you want to see the
future and take a look at bet enough.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Welcome back to the Big Mo Podcast. This is Andy Nagel,
the alumni director here at Molar High School, and I
have special guests with me. Barrett Cohen, my executive producer
for this segment sitting next to me, and I have
Miss Louise Holker, who does everything here at Molar High School.
But we're going to talk about Mom's Club and how
(13:21):
important Mom's Club is to the success of Molar High School.
And joining Louise is Sarah Coe and Stacy Barresch. That
I pronounced that correctly. There is you there, you Goo Barrish.
Stacy Barrish. I'm sorry, so Louise talk to us. I
know we talked off air. This is a goal of
mine is to bring the Dad's Club back to Molar
(13:43):
and try to get to where you've got the Mom's Club,
where this is a well oiled machine.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
Well, I thank you Andy. You know, part of why
Mom's Club, and really it's like all Parents is so
successful is because of people like Stacey and Sarah and
Desi and our board and all the moms that volunteer
and dads who do stuff. So it's a great way
to keep parents engaged. And so that's why I wanted
(14:10):
Sarah and Stacey to come on and talk about the
start of school and things that we have planned for
the kids and parents the next couple months and how
and then I'll come back on at the end. But
Sarah and Stacy have really been rock stars. They've been
on our board for a long time. They're great with feedback,
and they can talk about the meeting with administration and
(14:32):
all that stuff. So I'll turn it over to them.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Sarah co this is your last, Hurrash.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
This is my last.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
This is your boys a senior.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
She's adopt a younger kid.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Actually, we're going to keep you.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
I would love to.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
And you've been involved with Molar for hell, how many.
Speaker 6 (14:47):
Moms how many years graduated in twenty twenty two, and
then I have to twenty twenty four and now at
twenty twenty six, so awesome. All of those years we've
been involved, And honestly, Mom's Club was the first step
into the door for me to get involved and to
meet people, because even though we came from Mother Trees
and Liberty Township, we didn't know a ton of people here.
(15:09):
So the first thing I got involved with was volunteering
at the fashion show, and I met tons of people
that way, of all ages, and some of them are
still my really good friends today, and I do encourage people.
The first step is when you walk in the doors
of Moler is to immediately get involved because it means
so much to your kids. Boys love their moms, and
(15:32):
even though you know they might act like they're embarrassed,
you know of you sometimes at home, they love to
see you involved at.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Ding Ding Ding what do we have for it? And
the cool thing is it's almost like the house system
with the boys, and the fact that the Mom's Club
you have moms that are freshman moms all the way
through singers and all the way through past parent marks
that are still kind of involved. I come back, Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
and we talked alf Air. It's a way to keep
our alums re engaged, you know, as they go on
(16:01):
to college and married life and become fathers of their own.
Moms and dads are always a welcome part of that,
and we hope the moms and dads can bring those
kids back and keep them.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Engaged, right, because you don't think that most moms are
sending when their kids first go off to college, like, hey,
there's an alumni event.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
You should go. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:18):
Absolutely, So it's it's just super important and it's really open.
Like Louis said, it says, you know, we are called
the quote unquote mom's club, but we are basically a
parent's club because we have a mom's specific events. However,
dads are invited.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Oh I see dad's doing the heavy lifting as well. Absolutely,
that's yeah, that's right.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
But yeah, we try to just keep everybody engaged. There's
monthly emails, we have Facebook pages, and then we try
to like specifically encourage people to do the daily things
that will make the most of your kids experience, you know,
give kids the responsibility.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
That they need.
Speaker 6 (16:55):
However, here's how you can check the daily announcements that
are going out to school every single day, so I
do think that it's really important.
Speaker 7 (17:03):
There's a lot of those resources on MO campus, so
having the resources at your fingertips as a parent is
very exciting. And if you log into MO campus and
you are able to familiarize yourself with the resources that
are there, sign up for those emails to get them daily.
(17:24):
Those are usually from the school counselors. There's a Mom's
Club email that goes out the first of the every month.
There's also the those emails will be loaded onto MO
campus if you happen to miss one, but all of
our sign up geniuses to get involved are also on
all of those emails and on MO campus all the time,
(17:44):
so it's really nice. It's very easy to get involved.
But the fashion show, the Christmas cocktails and coutur that
we have uh the Thursday before Thanksgiving, it's every year.
It's the most amazing thing. That's how I first got
involved with Mom's Club. I signed up to be a
boutique coordinator and it was the most amazing experience. I
worked with the senior boys, the senior moms and just
(18:08):
got to meet a lot of great people and it's
super exciting to get involved here and like they said,
we do have a lot of socials, the class socials,
we'll have one usually twice a year, I believe, and
then those are very informational. We have the academic counselors
here at Molar, A lot of Molar staff will come
(18:28):
and present to them, so it's not just moms. But
then after we have the social which is really cool.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I talked to Louise all the time. That is one
of my favorite events to work and attend is the
is a fashion show. It's awesome, it's well run, it's
a great time. But Sarah, you mentioned the social media,
and I know all these moms out there are on Facebook,
but there is a class page for each correct on Facebook,
(18:54):
for each class, a Facebook page, i should say, for
each class.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
And Wei's and we have reps that are constantly pushing
out information about what's going on in the school. And
in fact, like we kind of took the angle this
year where you know, each week, each month, especially the
beginning of the school year, for these incoming freshmen, there
are so many events and so posting every single upcoming event,
you know, meet the teacher, et cetera, every single thing
(19:19):
that's going on. So these new parents know exactly what's
going on, and just I mean to be involved and
to go to these things. I mean, Stacey and I
both work. It's it's not like you have to be,
you know, a stay at home mom. That's the only
way that you can volunteer. You know, everybody is involved.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
There is something for everybody.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
And all of these events we cater them to parents.
You know that we have these upcoming you know, parent
events like navigating your Senior Year Roadmap to building Independence
for the sophomores. Those are all catered to evening hours
and hopefully a lot of parents can attend because it's helped.
It's run by counseling as well as us, and it's
(19:56):
just kind of an open forum to figure out, like
where are you, what's going on.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
It's available, and we work really hard to revamp them
every year. So just because you have older kids here
at Moler, you're gonna miss out if you don't come
to them every single year. It's it's geared towards that
certain class. But like I said, we get feedback from
all levels of people, mom's staff, counselors, everything. We get
(20:22):
that feedback and then we take it and re revise
the program every single year, so this year not only
is their new titles, but there's also you know, more
new information that's going to come out. So if you're
not able to attend, it's it's sad, it's you're missing
a lot every year.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
I appreciate you guys having us on here today. Just
to wrap it up, a couple things going on really
the next couple weeks. First is the all school breakfast
on August twenty sixth. It's next Tuesday. We have the
sign up genes just so we have a sense of
who's coming. Moms and dads welcome, come in for breakfast,
coffee eight about nine to fifteen, nine thirty. Derek Williams,
(20:58):
our director of student Information, will talk about nine to fifteen.
He always does. A kidn't talk amazing about like how
to parent these high schoolders. I know it's tough, my
kids are you know twenty seven to thirty it's still tough. No,
I'm just joking.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
But he's the unique perspective of being a parent, parent too,
and the dean of discipline.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
So it's really it's worth it to hear him.
Speaker 7 (21:22):
Very inspirational.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
Yeah, well we'll gather for coffee Derek, and then we'll
go up for those who can stay for the Mass
at nine thirty. And then on Friday, August twenty ninth
is our freshman mixer in the AC And this is
a great chance for your sons to like catch up
with people that make you know, girls, young women that
they might have gotten to school with, encouraged them to come.
(21:45):
This is a mixer. All the details on our flyer
deans have been sharing. I've been sharing all those details.
Just molar men can come, young women from any school
can come. And then into September real quick is are,
like Stacy said, the class of twenty twenty six parents
navigating senior year with counseling really important that at least
(22:08):
one parent comes for every student, because you want your
senior year to be stress free for you and your son.
This is the way you start off. It's almost like
a senior year orientation. We're talking about.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
This extremely important, extremely important.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
And then also in September, we have the sophomore class
really helping parents again help their kid build independence, relationships initiative.
Sophomore years just as important as every other year. So
that those kind.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
Of wrap up.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
I want to put a reminder out for those parents
who haven't filled out our parent Interests form. If they
go into their remot campus account, you'll see that you
have a form to fill out if you haven't done it.
That takes a couple of minutes, gives us the opportunity
to know what you're interested in. That will close sometime
next week and then, like say he said about Christmas
(23:01):
Cocktails and Couture, you'll hear more about that. That's our
signature event with our seniors on the runway with their
moms our vendors November twentieth.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
And Louise, if moms want to get involved, how can
they contact you?
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Fill out their parent interest form and then contact me.
Speaker 3 (23:19):

Miss Yeah it is.
Speaker 2 (25:35):

Speaker 3 (25:42):
We joked because we loved and Louise and Betsy. They
do a great job and incorporating those moms and just
an awesome club. And like I said, kind of from
the outset of that interview, I really you know, it's
it's our goal to get the Dad's Club back here
at more. I know they help out a lot with
the Mom's Club, but my gosh, we need to get
(26:02):

the teams, and that we're going to be celebrating it.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Well, this Saturday, we're celebrating the Class of the nineteen
sixty five was celebrating a day of first nineteen sixty

celebrate those guys. Great night on Monday night at the
Silver Springhouse. I want to think Joe Strecker was taking
time out of his schedule. The dude gets up at
like eleven o'clock at night to get into work, like
three or something like that, and he spent the night
with us. I think he even took Tuesday off, which.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Is bad too, which is I had to recover Joe.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Why is Andy wearing shorts, flip flops and like a Hawaiian.
Speaker 3 (27:49):

of you. Barret are shorts and T shirts all summer long.
I'm in a irregular khakis, in a polo, and then
first days gold Barrett's all dressed up like he's going
like he's going boating. I think Kate George says he's
got yacht frock.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
You look like like you're dressed to impress every day
and you make me look bad and you're like Joe Strecker.
I don't like that. I make Joe look good though.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Yeah, it's I can't argue with that, should not argue
with that at all.

out to the West player line, maybe you're in the
parking lot tailgate, you can listen to an in depth
(29:11):
