(00:21):
get some green. Hey, everybody, welcome to the Clean Comedy Podcast.
It's j D and I am so Lemente. Today I
am doing a lot of stuff. If you have been
watching my Instagram, you see that I've been out there
trying to get ten thousand steps every day, playing pick
a ball, doing a lot of stuff, trying to keep
things moving and going stuff like that, and so I
(00:46):
you know, I am here to talk about what's coming up.
There's a lot of things that are changing. The podcast
is going to be renamed, that's kind of a big deal,
be called the Comedy Theory Podcast, and that way you
can have more guests. Problem that I kept having is
that people would want not want to come onto a
podcast called the Queen Comedy Podcast because they weren't necessarily queen,
(01:07):
so they didn't feel like they could talk about it.
They didn't feel like they could add any value any
of that kind of stuff like that, you know. So
that's kind of where I'm at is like I talked
to a lot of people about to try to come
up with like a plan, and it did. It wasn't
really vibing because a lot of people were would turn
(01:30):
me down. It's like, well, I don't know if your
audience is my audience. And then also, you know, I
feel like there is a small amount of audience that
is really invested in the queen. That means doesn't mean
we won't talk about being queen. That doesn't mean we
won't talk about being a queen comedian or what to
do or how to you know, get gigs or whatever.
In fact, I'm working on some stuff as well. It's
still working on the book, still working on things. But
(01:51):
there's I think there's more to it than just than
just queen comedy. I think that might have been to
niche for a lot of people, and a lot of
people don't want to come on that niche of a podcast.
But I really feel like the comedy Theory podcast opens
it up right, We can talk about different things that
(02:12):
are happening in comedy. We could talk about the theories
behind booking, or being clean, being dirty, being blue, what
putting together a you know a show, show, putting together
a run, putting together you know, a special whatever, all
(02:33):
those things, there's all those things are still available to
us and from different directions, you know. So it's pretty
it's pretty interesting. The the way that it came about
is I was really kind of talking to you about it,
like talking to a lot of people about it, you know.
So I was like, well, how do I make this better?
(02:56):
How do I reach more people? How do I get
more stuff? How do I do you know, a lot
more with what I have, and with help with helping
people with the podcast, with giving them more information, with
getting bigger guests. And there are a lot of guests
that I want that aren't necessarily known as quote unquote clean,
(03:17):
or maybe don't want to be known as clean, but
could get on the podcast and give information or give
their point of view. You know, one of my favorite
comedians is named San Triple. He's a great, great guy.
I'm friends with him, and you know, he would never
do the clean comedy podcast. That's not his brand. But
I said, hey, come talk about comedy and your theory
(03:40):
on comedy and your vision on comedy. He would come
and do that, right, It's a different kind of thing.
And so that's really what I wanted to do, was
open up the door to a lot of people so
that we could have more people come onto the podcast
and really, you know, open it, just kind of open
it for for everyone, you know. And and again it's
(04:05):
not that I'm not going to do quean comedy stuff
and I'm not going to talk about being clean, but
I think it's ran its course. I think it's really
one of those things where we can't, you know, can't
limit ourselves, I guess as the best trying to think
of the best way to say, I can't really limit ourselves,
you know. I think when I start going out of
(04:28):
those things right then I can have other people on there.
I have a lot of people kind of in my
world that again won't wouldn't do the clean Comedy podcast,
but would be open to the Comedy Theory podcast. One
of my other favorite comedians is a guy named Jay Washington.
If you haven't looked him up, he's really funny, just
an an amazing person. Right, he wouldn't do the Queen
Comedy podcast, but he would do you know, he'll do
(04:49):
this thing. So the goal was to open it up
to more people. That doesn't mean I'm going to change
my style, I'm gonna change what I do. I'm just
going to try to provide a better outcome for everyone.
And I think that's kind of what I need to do.
I think that's kind of where I need to go
back and look look for what am I What am
I doing, you know, and what am I gonna do
(05:14):
to make the best show possible, the best podcast possible,
give you the best tips possible, the best advice possible,
have the best guess possible. And there are a lot
of good clean comedians, but a lot of them are
not as well known as maybe some of these other
people that are maybe not considered clean. And so I
think that's the big thing is I also want to
get bigger names, which will give it a bigger draw,
(05:35):
which means we can get even bigger names and even
bigger draw and do a lot more you know, you know,
So there's a lot going on there. I hope that
that doesn't push anybody away from listening to the podcast
the fact I hope it brings more people, and I
feel like again with the Queen Comedy podcast stuff, people
have kind of shied away from me. People have kind
of stepped away from that feeling that oh I can't
(05:59):
I only can clean, or oh you only talk about clean,
and that's not true either. You know. I think there's
a lot to do to make make comedy better for everyone,
(06:20):
and it doesn't just have to be clean content or
clean comedians or just clean material or people who only
do clean material to help everyone, right, And so I
think that's the big thing is because there's a lot
of comedians that probably all of us love that are
not considered clean. Like I'm a big Chris Rock fan,
I'm a big Any Murphy fan, I'm a big Roddy
Dangerfield fan. Those guys are not necessarily clean. But you know,
(06:43):
I also like Naporghatsy and Bob Newhart and you know
a lot of those people like that, and so there
is a lot of that as well. And I think
if we take it from both sides and say what
can we use from the guys who may not be
traditional clean, but also the guys who are dres to
clean and what can we use to put it together
to make our sets, our best stand up or our
(07:05):
best content. I think that really that's the biggest thing
that we should be doing, is trying to use the
information from as many people as possible, and especially outside
of the queen circles. Right what is working for them
outside of the queen circles that maybe we can use
inside the queen circles. And so it's not gonna go
away from that. It's just not going to just be
tile of the queen comedy podcasts. I feel like it
really pushed a lot of people away from coming onto
(07:27):
my podcast and a lot of people from listening to
the podcast. You know. So we're gonna we're gonna give
it a shot. We're gonna rebrand, you know, and and stuff.
You know, it's gonna be one of those things where
we just are going to give get the best people
we possibly can. Seth will still stay on, We'll still
(07:47):
talk about stuff, We'll still do our little things. But
I think a lot of it is gonna come down
to who can we get, what can we talk about,
what can we build, you know, as as much as
possible to be the best podcast for comedy and for
talking about all things comedy, and not to say all
things comedy, which is actually a brand, but you know,
all all the things that we possibly can talk about
(08:08):
as well. So I hope that you guys are excited.
Let me drop me something, drop you know, shoot me
an email, uh, shrop me a message on Instagram, let
me know what you think. I'm very excited for this.
I hope that you guys are excited too, and I'm
looking forward to creating this. So I hope this was
a good update for you. Looking forward to being back
on the Robozane and we'll see you guys pretty soon
with Seth and some other guests. Talk to you soon. Bye.
