Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon, Welcome on the Culture News.
My name is David Servi Ro and I have the
pleasure to have today own iHeart with you on the
Culture News. A wonderful, wonderful artist. His name is Nick
and he is from the wonderful rock trio the Legends
of the Seven Golden Vampires. Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires,
(00:25):
a wonderful, wonderful rock band. They have released a great
new track called Hopelessly Devoted to You. And yes, indeed
this song is devoted to all of you, beautiful beautiful
track which just got released as a matter of fact,
very few days ago. So we are so happy to
(00:45):
send it to you guys, right to your ears, exactly
where it belongs to be. But we have over the
phone the one and only Nick, as I said, from
Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires. Nick, how are you today.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Hi, David, Jess, I'm good, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Well, we're so glad to have you. Thank you so
much for being with us. So I would love to
know how that bend was created and where the name
comes from.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Right, okay, we we'll start with the name. So the
name's actually from a nineteen seventies horror slash come fu
film called The Legend of the Seven Going Vampires, which
was a collaboration between the Shaw Brothers from Hong Kong
and Hammer Studios in the UK. So it was basically
(01:35):
about cum fu vampires. But it's quite an eclectic film
in that way, and I thought that that sort of
mirrored what we were trying to do with the songs
from the band.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Well, we love that, We really love that. So now
tell us about the other Bend members.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Right, So basically our work we've got it's me of
our producer Luke, who is kind of a producer DJ,
and our vocalist Ilsa. So basically I'm the multi instrumentalist,
so I play guitar, bass, keyboards. However, Luke comes up
(02:19):
with sort of samples and various songs and bits and
pieces drump programming and also does the singing.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Beautiful. So congratulations again for this great new track, hopelessly
devoted to you. So can you tell us the story
of that track, how that song was created in the
first place.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Of course. Yeah, So basically it's a cover version from
the Olivia Newton John classic from the film Greece. Basically
what has happened is that we've been working on our
follow up album from our debut album, so our second album,
and it was due to be out on Halloween, but
(03:03):
because of various factors been delayed. It's been quite a
stressful situation trying to get it out. So we decided
just to do a quick cover to put something out
in Halloween and for a bit of fun and a
bit of stress release. I'm a man of a certain age,
and back in the day when I was very very young,
(03:23):
very young, the three main films doing the rounds kind
of in the seventies were Jewels, Star Wars, of course,
and Greece, and they're kind of my go to films.
I always go to, you know, like comfort films. And
so when we would sign on the cover, we thought,
let's try something completely different from our usual sound. And
(03:47):
I sort of plucked that one out of their thinking, right, Actually,
this might be a fun thing to do.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
And indeed, you've been nothing but successful and we're so
glad of that new track. Hopelessly devoted to you. Better
multi talented art Rob Trio Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires.
So who are your music influences? The audists who have
(04:12):
inspired you guys the most? Who are the artists who
have inspired you guys the most?
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Right, we were quite eclectic band, so we we we
sort of plunder everything from everything from Motown through sort
of sixty psychedelia through sort of like eighties indie, you know,
nicest all rock, anything that's kind of a bit different.
So you know, it could be everything from you know,
(04:41):
say the Full Tops through to R. E. M. To
the Smiths, through to Nirvana through to you know, you know,
it's it's really is a kind of a catsule of
various things, mainly stuff on the more left field side,
so less pop, more all kind of rock, but you know,
(05:03):
obviously sold great disco whatever, you know, just there's obviously
years and years of classic music to sort of pick from,
and that's kind of what we do. We just go
in and try and pick the best pick the classics
to try and create sounds that we're quite aclectic, and
I think that comes over definitely within our sounds and
(05:24):
our album, and it is one of the reasons we're
doing a cover version that I would suggest that it
was kind of quite left field for us.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Indeed, indeed, it was a beautiful, beautiful mix, I should
say a musical music background. So we start to say
goodbye to each other, what are your next projects?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
So we're just trying to finish off the album, so
it's running late because it was due to be out
on Halloween this year, so we were just completing that
and then we plan to tour that album then next year,
so I think all the plans night. Obviously it's November,
so we'll come up to Christmas. Everything's going to be
really pushed on to twenty twenty six where we'll be
(06:08):
doing hopefully quite a lot of tour and I'm releasing
the album You potentially early twenty twenty six.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Well will be there definitely to applaud you and support you.
We're so glad to have you today on the show
