Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, A good afternoon, Welcome on the Culture
News today. It is a wonderful, wonderful day. Yesterday last night,
on Friday September twelve, at eight pm, at the Lemon Ballroom,
forty one Broad Street in New York City, we had
the pleasure to see a wonderful designer whom we love
(00:22):
very much. His name is Malan Broughton. Let me spell
it out for you. It's m l a N Broughton.
It's spelled b r e t o N. Malan Broughton
is a wonderful, wonderful fashion designer who really stands out
of everything else and everyone else. We were really lucky
(00:42):
that right at the end of his wonderful fashion show,
which was sold out as usual during the New York
Fashion Week, which, by the way, it's getting back. For
a couple of years, it was not what it used
to be, but now it's definitely getting at the level
almost parents. Let's not be crazy yet, but it's getting there.
(01:03):
But we have this great, great, great fashion designer, Malon Broughton,
who is definitely lifting the level up of what is fashion.
As I said, we managed to get him just a
few minutes right after his fashion show. This is the
interview somanon how are you tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I'm good. I just finished the Spring twenty twenty sixth
show that we were dedicating to Karen Hines in honor
of one of my friends who passed away this year
with old Timers.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
So what do you want people to take away from
this great event, from this special collection? What is the message?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I think the message is a message of hope, a
message of tomorrow, the beauty of tomorrow. I think we
were living in a world that's quite difficult, and I
think that we're also surrounded by so much hatred and
so much anger andess I think we really need to
come together and bring light into each other's lives. And
(02:04):
that's why I try to create beauty and beautiful things
to make people feel good and to feel happy and
to build their confidence from the inside outs.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
So I know you're very busy. So for the people
who are not able to watch the show because we
are radio, how would you describe it? The colors and
all sign How could you explain it to people from
your own words?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
So the colors are an experience from my first day
in New York in nineteen ninety six, on in the
garment district.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I mean, when you went to Europe, right, You're very.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Kind, You're very kind. No, my first day here, I
walked through the garment district and I had an appointment
of covering climb and my experience of what I saw
on the street and the beautiful colors of the fabrics
and the textiles, and but also with a bit of
Taiwan and a bit of just the beauty of the
(02:57):
people of New York and and the world. I just
I really get inspired by so many different elements. And
that's why you see on the catwalk so many different
faces and so many different walks of life and things.
And I just think it's it's important that we embrace
each other, you know.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I know you're very busy, but congratulations again, it's an
honor to hand you to thank you so much. Thank
you
