Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Defilight Podcast, brought to you by the
Defilight Podcast Network. I'm your host, j R. Glp, joined
as always by my wonderful goals Alvin Glint. What's good out, Hey.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hey, what's going on? Man? Good to be back. Good
to be back, little summer VACA feeling good? Are you? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Man? Things good?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's good to be back.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Like you said coming off of VAK Jump right in
the football season, it's ready to get this started.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
We're here.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
We're here, man, absolutely real quick. What u to the
folks that you've been up to since we last spoke
like two months ago?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Like two months ago? Man, just really been kind of
restoring this summer. That's kind of been my focus is
just trying to build back up the energy. You know,
the year be such a grind workwise, but then with
life and so just being able to take some time,
even with the Aftergate podcast, we didn't do a lot

(00:59):
of shows the month of July, so just taking time
to build back up the energy for finishing out the
second half of the season. Had some good family events
to go to, people getting married and cousins gatherings and
all of that, and for me, all that kind of
builds my soul, builds my energy back up. So it's
kind of blessed to have those opportunities to while not

(01:22):
busy on other activities, trying to soak up some of
the family love. So been good, man, been good. Good
to see you and everybody else out there.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Absolutely, man, I mean, happy anniversary.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Oh yeah, twenty nine and the can.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Your wife just celebrating the twenty ninth anniversary. That's an accomplishment, man, congrats.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, man.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Appreciate and you mentioned like the cousins sleepover we had
and you know, as we say when when Pool's names
all the time, right, all the time, this stuff, but
it was a first. It was a unique experience, right,
so to let everybody know, we invited all of our

(02:08):
cousins from most three generations.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Street generations in the building. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
So it was split between two houses, you know, as
far as sleeping goals.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So it was I was a thirty forty people, maybe
over thirty between thirty and forty. I did the count.
At the final we did a group picture and there
was at least thirty people in that picture. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
So it was cousins from retired from sixty five sixty
seven all the way down to six months. Like it
was crazy, right, So we spent a weekend, so Friday, Saturday,
Sunday really just you know, eat, drinking, party and relaxing.

(03:02):
No hotels, just just like it was goods find the
spot and it was great, man, Like, it was amazing
not only to be around family, but continue to build
those relationships with like your daughter's boyfriend, you know, my
cousin is got married like her now husband like Bill,

(03:25):
and those relationships and really just kind of showed a
younger generation how we get down. You know, as we
get older, you know, we've spread apart, and life happens,
and it's.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Good to just rekindle those things. Man. So that was great,
it was and just a piggyback, I mean, being able
to bond with new family. But also to your point,
there are some younger cousins who are coming into their
own entering their prime of life in the young twenties,
early thirties, and so to your point, to to start

(04:01):
establishing adult relationships the cousins and have sharing of old
stories in our traditions, it really just helps, I think,
continue this love and bond that we have as a family.
Very very special thing. Don't take it for granted. And again,
you know we had a year where people we lost

(04:24):
some people in our village. You know, some people passed away,
had some health challenges. I'm just life, you know can
wear on you. And so to be able to come
together for weekend, and so thank you to the hosts.
You know you are one of the hosts in that city,
and your sister and niece and nephew and brother in
law and wife, and you know the fact that y'all

(04:47):
was able to play that role and bring us together
what you're glassy.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Us no doubt do experience. To close it out, all
the men got together and made breakfast for everybody. So
we slayed for a good little bit that morning. It
was hot outside, it was hot inside, but we have
spread man, So shout out to all the guys.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Good job Felts, good john Fellas. And then it was
a little jump off to a little pancake breakfast. Me
and my family cooked for a fraternity about two or
three weeks after that, a little fundraiser, and so that
that that handcake, sausage and eggs and all that we

(05:33):
did for the men that that day. It was a
nice little jump off and kind of get us in
the mood. And so me and my wife's son daughter
cooked for about sixty folk that morning about two weeks ago.
So again things when you think about what my my
summer has been like, between family, a little outdoor cooking,
a little traveler. To leave right now into football, baby, right,

(05:57):
feeling good? Feeling good?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Man, Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna get into it. We're
gonna talk a little Cowboys and Jets and stillings, training
camps and preseasons so far. But before we do, man,
we just had the Olympics wrap up first, sir, I
want I want to ask you something because we're gonna
leave with basketball. How I don't want to compare the

(06:25):
teams necessarily, but the game itself. How different is it
to watch Olympic play now versus the Dream Team in
ninety two, and just how much the game has grown internationally?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
It is? It really is incomparable because the Dream Team
one was coming into the experience with a vengeance, right,
So they came with this attitude of we coming for blood.

(07:06):
We are just avenging what has happened in the past.
So that's one thing. The other thing is the talent
level around the around the world has significantly increased, and
so I think they it's just hard to compare each
Olympic experience just because each year, each time, the talent

(07:30):
gets better and better, and it's just a I mean,
you look at a Wimby and how great he is,
and not just Wimby, but there's like a pipeline of
these players coming from France, and I think that's just
one country. Serbia, Brazil, you know, Germany. There's just a
lot of countries that are yeah, Puerto Rico who step

(07:53):
in their games up.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, And I think I saw saw stat that said
in ninety two that Olympic team faced a total of
nine NBA players.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
In the Olympics total total total.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
This year, there were thirty nine outside of the US team,
so likes and you know, and one of those was
the three time reigning MVP at NBA, so like that.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Is like and even the team from Canada looked pretty right.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, and they didn't make it that far right.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
And they didn't even make it that far right.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
And so for me, it was much more In Joybello,
it was fun to watch the Dream team in the
ninety sixteen. It was just fun to watch because you never, like,
you know, up to that point it was undoubtedly the
greatest team ever assembled. But now to actually watch the
games and be excited about them winning because the expectations

(09:02):
are not that you're gonna beat them by fifty, all right,
The expectation is.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Man, it's gonna be a game where it's.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Gonna be a game, right, So it was just joyous
to watch and the competitiveness and you know, actually have
other teams and countries invested because they think they got
a chance.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
So it was fun to watch. And it requires more collaboration,
more cohesion, better team play.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Rolls. Correct, you can't just pick the best in the world, right,
So yeah, yeah, I get it.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
But the next morning, you know, Sunday morning, I watched
the women's play their women in the finals game live
and to your point, while I came into the game
expecting them to run through the women's team from France,
it really was a nail bier and in the third
order the women's team they were down by double digits

(10:04):
and so they had to come back and it was
just a game where that I don't know if it
was the nerves, I don't know if it's the competition
of the France team, but the Ladies team didn't play,
didn't have their best performance, and so fortunately Asia Asia Wilson,
best player in the world, just put the team on

(10:26):
her back and said, yeah we got this. Came cops baby. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Man. Did you have a favorite Olympic moment?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Oh? You know, my favorite Olympic moment definitely got the
chance to watch some gymnastics, and so watching Simon and
the Ladies team, uh do that thing and win the goal,
I thought that was pretty pretty impressive. The soccer team
watching the Ladies women's soccer team win, I thought that

(10:58):
was pretty cool too. I think I didn't get to
watch a lot of track and feel, but the couple
of races that I saw were really competitive. But I
think actually my favorite moment was the gold medal relay
in the swimming medley. And for some reason, the reason

(11:20):
it's my best memory is because as I'm watching it,
I just kind of stumbled on it. But I remember
that I really do like this event. Like I'm watching
it and I'm like I forgot about this event and
just to see the diversity and people, you know, having
to do four different strokes and because I might be
better at one stroke than you. I might be leading,

(11:43):
but when it's time for you to do your stroke
that you're really good at, you're able to make up time.
It was just pretty fascinating to watch watch the women's medley,
and it was it was kind of cool for the
for the for the medal, that's dopey.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
I think my favorite was the gold medal and the
man's four hundred track Quincy Hall and to see him
it was in like fifth place coming down down the
stretch and you can see like you we've all run
distances before, your back blocks up and it's like everything's

(12:24):
tight and you got to pull everything out of you
and you can see him just willing himself to victory,
and it was It's just such an Olympic moment because
you know you might never be back there again, and
if you do, it's going to be at least four years.
So he left everything out there and you know that

(12:47):
was that was a good moment. And you know, the
four hundred is kind of the redheaded step child of
the sprint events because everybody loves the hundred and the
two hundred, right, uh.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
But so you got to be special that four hundred.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Right, Yeah, and you know, even myself, I was waiting
for one hundred and the two hundred and I saw that,
I was like, yo, pull that out, like that was
that was great to see. But there was a lot
of good moments. Man, shout out to all the athletes
from all the countries to see the I forget her name,
but the woman from Saint Lucia that won the country's

(13:25):
first ever medal, and Shikari in the in the hundred.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
That was people people had her until then.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Yeah, right, so that was cool.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
That's what I love about the Olympics. You know, you
just never know, you know, just about who's better that day,
that event.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
And I ain't know they had break dancing in the Olympics.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Now, oh you didn't know.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
No, I didn't know. It's the first year and that's
first year.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
First year. We'll see if it comes next year. Still
not which I didn't know. I just assumed once you're in,
you in. But I know we'll see if it's on
it's going to be at the next one. But yeah,
I was looking forward to it because one I wanted
to see how it was talked about, if it was
given the love and shine and credit that it deserves,

(14:18):
but I just, you know, I thought it was while
I was a little skeptical because when I first heard it,
I'm like, right, man said, and the Olympics. Wow, we've
come a long way from spending on the cardboard in
the Bronx. But I think it was well done. And again,

(14:38):
salute to all the breakers who who represented their countries
and represented the art and hip hop very very well,
very well.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Even Australian breakdowns. She was even, she was cheeks, but
she tried.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
She tried. And again if if what she accomplished was
to get more and more people who probably wouldn't even
know breaking still occurs, great job, because I was talking
about it at least three different meetings today with people

(15:19):
who were like, did you see the Australian woman breaking
in the Olympics. Yeah, So they need some breakers, need
some publicity because there, you know, there are some people
out here who was trying to not only just maintain

(15:40):
that culture and keep it going like you see all
over the world, but there's also a group of people
who are trying to pass on this talent, this culture
to our youth. And so I like the fact that
it might have got a little publicity bump so that
more and more people might be interested and making sure
our kids know how to break Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Absolutely, yeah, So shout out again all the athletes. Man.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
I think.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Twenty twenty eight we got flag football coming to the Olympics,
so hey, and baseball and softball are coming back.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
I was born thirty years too early. All the flag
football I played in my life. Who knew it would
have been an Olympic sport?

Speaker 1 (16:29):
All right, Well, at least that's breakdancing, because you probably.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Definitely well, I'm not gonna say that. I'm not even
gonna play myself. There was a time I could do
what she did. I'll say that, but I can't now,
and I'm even gonna claim to so.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Cool big up stuff. Absolutely well yeah, man, let's get
right to it. Man, it's a football season. I'm thirsty
right now. So you want to start with Cowboys and Jets?

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Hmm, let's go Cowboys? Since I just saw them yesterday,
I have to watch them on the preseason, So let's
go Cowboys, all right?

Speaker 1 (17:10):
First off, the addresser and the elephant in the room.
What's the deal with CD man?

Speaker 2 (17:19):
You know, typical Jerry Jones negotiation. He is a true businessman.
He's going to try to get the best deal possible.
And he, like many businessmen, believe that the best deals
happen when people when both people really want to make

(17:41):
a deal, you know what I mean. Like, so he not,
he's not trying to overpay a penny. So he's gonna
wait till it's like, all right, me and you in
this room. Neither one of us is leaving this room
till we get a deal. And if he saved himself
a million dollars and he gone, he's gonna be happy.

(18:01):
So you know, when you come to expect it, it's
what you get with Jerry Jones. But we all know
that seed. He's gonna get signed, he's gonna get broke off,
gonna make a lot of money, and he will be
playing with the Cowboys this year, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
What uh when did you think about the first preseason game.
I know it's a lot of dudes that won't be
on the roster y season starts.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
We got a chance to watch Trey Lance mm hmmm,
because I think he's a pivotal player this season to
be watching because you don't know what you're gonna get.
He's still very, very young, quarterback. Even though he's been
in the league. I think this is his third season,

(18:46):
and so I think it's critical that the Cowboys decide
this offseason is he's worth continuing to invest in them,
Like they gotta figure out what do they have with
this guy. And the fact that he didn't turn over
the ball, I thought that was a good sign because

(19:07):
a lot of young quarterbacks you see a lot of turnovers.
So I'm glad, you know, I think he didn't fail
the test. But it's not like I walked away saying
he's the dude, so like that. But to your point,
a lot of people who won't make it, but you
definitely saw some guys who if they have a couple
more games like this, they will be on the roster.

(19:28):
So I like what I see all with the offensive lineman,
our first round pick guiding out of Oklahoma, he looks
solid for his first game. We got one of our
linebackers back from last year who had tours a c
l over shown UHR, big fan of his and so

(19:52):
to see him back running around looking healthy, that's a
good good relief. And you know, the Cowboys, it's a
offensive line. Defensive line is where had wide receiver is
where we're going to need some some guys to step up,

(20:12):
like and fill in some holes. I think the biggest
issue everything being everything is we really don't know what
we have with our running game. And so I say
that because I think we pretty confident we got a
solid running game. The question is what do we have
with Zeke? Yeah, I mean I think that's that's just

(20:35):
are we going to be better than solid? Because if
he's better than solid, then that's that's a real I mean,
he's still young. I mean he's old for running back,
you know the way we look at running backs now
because he's twenty eight. But he's still only twenty eight.
And so let's see what we got. A healthy Zeke,
we can keep it.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Zeke like Jo like Julio was still like twenty seven,
but his body was starting to bring and he was
like be there forever. He's like, you don't know what
you're gonna get if he's healthy.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
You don't know what you're gonna get.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
I don't know what you're gonna get, So you gotta
wait and see. So the last question for the best.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Is this, yall, ye come on, you know I'm a
cowboy fans playing. You already know it's our year. I
think we're the best team in our donation. I'm gonna
say that I like what I like what Philly's done.
I mean, you know, trust Sa Kwan is definitely a

(21:35):
good addition. But they've taken some hits on defense and
so and on the offensive line. So we'll see what
it looks like with the Eagles. And I'm not scared
of the Giants. I'll be surprised if they win seven games.
And while I do like Jayden Daniels, I really do
think hes gonna be a player. Reskin is still a

(21:56):
couple of years away, so I think we had a
good shot to win out Vision Commander and we'll see.
San fran is still the beast, the team to beat. Yeah, yeah,
I call them the Redskins, no respect, no respect. You
know what era we're from, we know where we're from.

(22:20):
And again it's it's just a little hostility towards that
team in Washington. So you know, it's like that guy
that comes to your house and he says, excuse me, sir,
my name is and you still call him the old
name like man.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Yeah, at least than in the football team.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
So feeling good man. You know this is yeah, let's
go boys, Let's get it all right.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
What's just thinking about the Jets.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, the Jets got Aaron Rodgers back. Mm hmmm, So
it all starts there. They build a team to win.
Last year, Aaron Rodgers got hurt. That was it. Yeah,
at this he'son the engine. Pour plays into the visit.

(23:15):
So Aaron is is healthy. He's slinging it in the
training camp. You know, they're not going to give him
a chance to play till this real season because we
don't want to take no chances. But what I saw
in the first preseason game again some players who are

(23:35):
standing out. Braylen Allen running back, solid, big, big, but
fast running back. I think he's gonna add something to Resall.
You know, that little combination I think should be pretty impressive.
Give us a solid run game to work with. And

(23:55):
I also like the lineman out of I think Penn
State Ashano. Yeah him, very athletic, very athletic. And you know,
with Tyron Smith and Moses as you are, yeh tackles,

(24:17):
chances are he gonna get some playing time because some
point might miss a game, but they're gonna miss a game.
H what else. I think when I look at the Jets,
the other thing is just can we get a pass rush?
It's going to be critical because we lost some guys

(24:41):
on our defensive line, from Bryce hoff to John Franklin Myers, Like,
so those are guys that got us some sacks. Gotta
some pressure, So can the Jets recreate and get us
some pass rush? Solid solid secondary with Sauce leading away.

(25:02):
But if we can get a pass first, then our
defense would be solid. And I expect the Jets to
put up some points with Aaron and that offense as
long as he stays healthy. So Miami is probably the
team to beat in the a SSE East. But if
the Jets stay healthy and specifically Aaron Rodgers stay healthy,

(25:24):
I think they're gonna make some noise.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Yeah, what do you expect Buffalo to kind of take
a step back?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Definitely? Definitely. I feel like their window, really the window
to compete in the AFC, took a hit this past offseason,
and I definitely think losing Diggs is going to be
a concern. And I think Josh Allen is gonna put

(25:58):
up good numbers, but I think it's just going to
be one of them instances where they're going to have
to find some more talent for put around to win
in this AFC. So I think that window is actually taken,
is closed this first round, but I think they could
eventually rebuild because he's that type of quarterback. I just

(26:21):
don't think this is their season.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
But if it don't work out with Josh, they got
Mitched Tubisky.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Back and oh that's exciting.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Yeah for the other thirty one teams, I don't know
how excited they are, but yeah, that was.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
What you think about New England. What you think about
New England this year?

Speaker 1 (26:41):
I don't expect much as far as wins and losses.
I'm still rebuilding. I'm with a rookie coach. I was
impressed with Joe Melton, you know, and what I've heard
and what I saw for him in the preseason game.
Not as much Drake may It h that was more

(27:01):
of what I expected as far as Drake Mayl and
expect him. I didn't expect him to hit the ground running.
But Joe Milton, when I first started hearing the buzz
around how well he was, you know, performing in camp,
I just thought it was just some Joe Milton stuff.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Man.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
I was like, you know, dude's probably the greatest practice
player of all time. You're going wild you with his
arm and do backflips and do all kinds of crazy stuff.
And so he's got to read defenses. So we'll see
how that progresses as his teams are not as vanilla
in the preseason. But he looks he looks good. He's
exciting to watch. Other than that, man, I'm trying to

(27:47):
separate my hatred for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady now
that they're both gone and they got a young, you know,
first time head coach who he has his own slate.
So but just man, in twenty years when I hate
the Patriots, so I can't let go of it.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
But I'm not even trying. Yeah, it's easier because they're
in the day, in the same division as the Jets,
so I have a real legitimate reason to hate them.
I don't care who your coach is.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Absolutely yeah, I'm a Stealers fan. I'm not allowed to
say anything positive about the Patriots. So yeah, if the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Thinking of them stealers, what you're thinking? Oh man.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
The first thing, of course, is quarterback competition, which is
now a legit competition. Russell Wilson was out for a
week we can I have with a calf injury. So
it gave Justin Phils all the first team reps he wanted.
And I've been looking good, you know for most reports.

(29:04):
And it's kind of up and down in the In
the first preseason game, you know, if you just look
at the stats, the baseline stats, it was great, you know,
five for six sixty seven yards, and then you didn't
lead to a score, but then you know, you got
two box fumbles on snaps. You still saw kind of
those same tendencies of like holding onto the ball too long.

(29:29):
But you know, it's the first preseason game. He's not
gonna take off running, so he's trying to build on
other things. So I'm not gonna really get the full
story there. So this week Mike Tomlin does you know,
he said he doesn't know who's going to start in
the week two preseason, so we'll see, okay. So it's
really a competition, So I'm happy either way. It's not

(29:52):
you know, I said, it's no Kinny Pickett, there's no
mitchter Trubisky, so it can't be any worse. But you know,
I'm liking what I'm seeing Nasey Harris like he's slimmed
down a lot. Okay, uh, you know, more involved in
the passing game. Jayleen Warren is gonna do Jalen Warren ship.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Uh, you know he's nice.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Yeah, I'm excited that we got two young bookend tackles
and foul time and Roderick Jones. I mean, and the
defense is gonna be Pittsburgh's defense, Like you know what
you're getting. But I'm excited about Patrick Queen and even
Peyton Wilson wasn't a fan of his before the draft,

(30:36):
and he looks good. He's grown on me, no doubt.
No Dante Jackson. I'm excited about the defense, but that's
a constant. So you know, really just ready to see
what you get from you know, George Pickens is the
number one receiver involved, they get Patrick pat friar Mouth

(30:58):
involved in the passing. I'm a new offensive coordinator, so
it's just a lot of new blood, man, and I'm
excited for it. Man. I such a strong division. You
can't really say like between you know, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cincinnati
and Cleveland, they're almost going to cannibalize each other in

(31:20):
that division. In division play and and unfortunately, in situations
like this, whoever has the best quarterback usually comes out
on top. But it's so tough to say because Pittsburgh
pretty much ran that division last year in division play

(31:43):
with the worst quarterback play you could possibly So we'll see. So,
you know, at least we have, whether it's Fields or Russ,
you know, you've got a guy who can at least
sustained drives and keep your defense in the in the
game and don't have to win it all the time.
So it's a tough division. Man, I don't know who's

(32:06):
gonna win it. I don't know who's gonna finish last
an injury or two here they could probably decide. So
what we do know is Mike tom gonna bring them
ready to play.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
You do know that? Yeah, Yeah, definitely got an argument
to claim like best division in football. And I think
when I look at y'all's team, I was thinking that
the best thing that could happen to the Steelers is
Russ plays starts and then for some reason somehow Justin

(32:44):
gets on and kind of takes it from there. But
I really think the best thing is for Justin to
start and play well like I'm I'm a I'm a
justin Field fan. I really think that there's a lot
of talent there and it would be great to see

(33:04):
him succeed with Tomlin. Like, I'm just gonna move for him,
even THO I'm not the biggest Stealer fan, but I'm
definitely gonna root for him to be successful. And if
he's successful, that's a that's a wooh. That division right
there is gonna be rough.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Yeah, and you know it's it's funny. I was just
talking to Lincoln about this, Like those those two quarterbacks
are great in their own right as far as what
they do well, but the Stillers don't owe either one
of them anything, right, it's the first year there. Then

(33:43):
they don't have any loyalties either one of them, so
it's truly a competition of who plays best. And you're right,
I think the best scenario would be Fulfills to just
light it up, because then you've got a decade of
a guy who you know could be a guy I'm
as opposed to. I would love it if Russ comes

(34:04):
and lights it up, but then you only got a
year or two and you gotta start over. So yeah,
I want your best case scenario, Justin Phils wins it
and the instaground running. But you know, you always want
your team to win. So whoever, Yeah, and you know

(34:32):
there's a lot of talking that still is acquiring Brandon Ayuk,
so we'll see. I hope they don't well, because then
you gotta pay him.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
So would you rather have on your team the young,
potential stud quarterback or the above average veteran quarterback.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
On this particular team, I've I leaned to Russell Wilson
because that offense is so young. You got, you know,
George Pickens is your number one receiver. Like I said,
we got a young offensive line with not think that

(35:28):
the third youngest offense in the NFL. So you kind
of almost want that steady veteran presence. And so it
won't be as many highs and lows as you're gonna
get with Justin Phils, But damn those highs look good
with Phields. It's hard. It is extreme yard to shy

(35:50):
away from that. So this particular team, I leaned towards
Russ but I wouldn't be mad with Fields.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Yeah. That the one thing I think I like the
I It's definitely roll of the Dice. It's the upside
that intrigues me with a young quarterback. The problem though,
is so many of them are just inconsistent, right, Like

(36:23):
even watching Trey Lance, there was a couple of throws, Oh,
I didn't know you had an arm like that. Wow,
that's pretty impressive, and then others just like, oh, wow,
you just overthrew that guy right, he was wide open,
and so you know you're going to get those moments.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Who feels But I mean as far as passing the body,
he looked good. But it's like I said, it's holding
onto the ball too long, taking unnecessary secks like this,
this being decisive, those things that just come with experience,
and sometimes they don't ever come.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
So yeah, that's the problem.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Well yeah, but this team, the way is constructed. Uh,
And it would be easier if Russ plays, and if
he's mediocre to bad, bring in Justin as opposed to
vice versa. If Justin's bad, you can't really go to
Russ and come back to Justin and.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Have a future. So whathi y'all do have is a
decent stable of running backs? Would you foresee this year
being a run first past second offense? Either way? With
these quarterbacks or do you think the game plan might
change based on who's saying hike.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Yeah, I think it's pretty it's pretty consistent. Of course,
Justin can do things that Russ can't do anymore, like
off playoff off schedule. But you know, and that's the
good thing about I think it's the first time in
years that the Steelers can roll out the same playbook
from quarterback one through three and still can be consistent

(38:08):
in a play call. You know, and with Arthur Smith
as the coordinator's gonna pretty much be run first.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Yeah, YEA count on that all right.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
But I don't think you have to change up anything
depending on who the quarterback. I think there may be
more occasionally designed runs for Justin fields, but but he's
gonna get his running opportunities, whether it's designed or not.
That's just who he is and that's that's that's what
makes him dangerous.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
To use his legs.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
Wow, if if if Pool was here, we talked about
some bad stuff. But who's not here, and I guess
he'll catch Yeah. Yeah, man, anything you want to out
out before.

at home. Get out there and vote. Yeah, and get
informed and get informed, make an informed decision.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
You're right, it's twenty twenty four. If you are not informed,
that is a choice and a bad one. All right,
So yeah, I'm with you on that. Man, get out
and vote and encourage your friends. Yes, your neighbors. Yes,
you're of age. Kids, all people get out an old person,
