Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, I'm starting to question, like, do you ever see
Alvin and Thomas in the same room? Are they the
same person? Like I don't want so.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We kind of like LaToya Jackson and Michael Jackson. Like
people want to start wondering, is this really one person?
And when we all on the show together, it's just
a I.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Generated what other explanation could that be?
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Hey, jennmen, all right, shout out the Pool man.

you all. Man, welcome back to another one episode seventeen. Man,
it's good to be back in the groove. Yes, sir,
let's get right to it. Man, you're just doing fired
a head coach. Man, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Damn, that's where we're going. That wasn't even on the
prep sheet.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Not going straight there. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
I ain't mad at you, yo, I don't understand. I
really don't. I was. I was shocked. I'll just leave
it that I was.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I I don't see him as the problem in terms
of what we are seeing week to week, and so
for an organization to make that decision in the middle
of the season, it was extremely shocking. And so it
makes me wonder since just because I don't see anything
(02:22):
performance player wise as the reason, and you know, so
trying to connect it to maybe the coaches and doing
his job. He looked like he was doing his job.
It must be something else, something we're not aware of,
and I think some people are, huh, do you think
you know what it is?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Well, before I say what it is, what do you
think it is?
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (02:46):
So one it has to it's screaming.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Aaron Rogers that there's some beef something that he went
he was either asked or he went unprovoked and said,
you know, this ain't working. We got to make a change.
Some people point to the cadence comment from a couple
of weeks ago, when uh Salah was saying that, you know,
(03:14):
maybe we need to change that cadence because people aren't
hearing it or they're not adjusting right and causing some penalties,
and Aaron Rodgers was like, yeah, I don't think so,
maybe you just might want to hold these players accountable instead.
So it was seemed like an obvious riff at that point.
But Jell, I don't know. But I also wonder if
(03:38):
it's something else. I really wonder, if it's something that
we just haven't been exposed to, maybe it'd come out
hopefully in their future that is bigger than what we
are seeing with him and Aaron, because I just hope
my Jets wouldn't just listen to Aaron Rodgers all right
(04:01):
in the middle of the season, putting our whole season
at risk.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, I definitely think his input was involved. The Jets
have never five head coach midseason and they've definitely had worse.
Solid was twenty and thirty six in his career, So
I mean, considering the mess he took over, it's not egregious.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I think terrible quarterback play right, like in those in
those wins. Honestly, it's a terrible quarterback play.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Right And he's a defensive minded coaches, defensive second in
the league. Right now, he's got one of the top assistants.
The guy who's taking his job over is one of
the top assistants in the league. And I think it
goes all the way back to you remember in mandatory
(04:55):
Mandatory OTAs when when Aaron Rodgers was missing, and of
course you can't blame the Achilles injury on him, but
coming off that injury, if you still got to get
assimilated with your teammates and your receivers and everybody, for
you to miss OTA's and you're supposed to be the leader,
(05:19):
I mean, it says a lot for the existing teammates
and the new guys coming in, Like, what does that
say to them? Like this guy get to miss mandatory
practices and we got to be here, And not only
does it it damage morale, but it obviously you know,
coming off of injury, he still looks rusty, so it's
(05:43):
going to take time to get all that stuff back.
And so for Woody Johnson to fire a coach mid season,
I definitely think Aaron Rodders had something to do with
that because the bulk of the blading is coming off
three in some game like Roberts Salad will throw passes Nope,
not one at all, and too because the defenses rolling,
(06:11):
they look at it and get forty three to seventeen,
like could have been worse. So it was just like
to me that I don't know if it's ego or
saving face, combination of the two or some more stuff,
but everyon Rodgers definitely had to say it because the
bulk of the blame goes to Aaron Rodgers. And if
(06:33):
than you hack it for the way that offense is.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Looking, you know, and this is very in line with
some of the diva behavior that we've kind of seen
from Aaron Rodgers in the path right and so I
guess we were, at least as some Jets fans, some
of us was hoping that we would see a non
diva Aaron Rodgers that would just come here and just
(07:02):
be a great quarterback and leave all of that extra
stuff that can be toxic and really ruin a year
for a franchise out of our locker room.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
And so.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
But it's consistent, and you know, going back to that
old saying, when people show you who they are, like
believe them. And if this is who he is, like
shame on the Jets for, you know, allowing that to
really again put a season in jeopardy. And then another
thing that is kind of head scratching, to your point
(07:40):
about the offense, because the offense is really the issue.
They replaced him with a defensive coach. So if I
had a coach getting fired and then you replace him
with a Kellen Moore type where you it's like an
offensive guru, and you're like, Nope, we're going to take
our bet on this guy because this guy has the
(08:02):
best offense in the NFL. If you're doing something like that,
and it's like, well, all right, at least I could
see the motivation behind it in terms of you're really
trying to correct what I see and what you see
is part of the problem, which is the offensive production.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
And that's not what they did, right.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Or at least replacing with Nathaniel Hackett. He's running the offense.
The offense is not the problem. Replacing with that guy.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
That guy.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
So it really don't make sense.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Same old Jets. And you know, back to the offense
and what's really plaguing the Jets, hoping that their offensive
line plays better from a pass protection perspective and run game,
and that we put the ball in the hands of
(08:48):
our two young running backs and Brice Hall and Braylen
Allen more often so that the running game becomes the
focus of our offense, right.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Yeah, yeah, And it really just it reeks of desperation.
We know the Jets have been trying to find a
franchise guy since you've any tested very That's that's the
closest maybe.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
The Oh that's a stretch, another stretch, I mean effective,
you know, in terms of in Jets lore. Yeah, these
are probably some of the best quarterbacks that we're going
to reference. They reached for Brett fav I mean, this
(09:38):
has been a constant issue with the Jets. So I mean, honestly,
I applauded the move in bringing Aaron Rodgers in because
we had had such Zach Wilson obviously was not the guy,
and so I at least applauded them for taking a
shot at bringing and at the time what we were
(10:03):
seeing was high quality quarterback play.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Right Yeah. And that's what I'm saying, the reeks of
desperation because you look at all the swings and missions
they're taking, and to bring up names like Chad Pennington
or Bennie festa Verdi is the high points. It speaks volumes,
and I don't I don't know if I don't know,
(10:28):
but it's just another instance of them, Like it's I
don't think they've ever had the guy that you can
honestly say it could lead them to the promise Land.
And so it's the latest occurrence of them reaching for that.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Guy out of all their reaches, to mean, the number
one and at least the one who might have had
the greatest talent at the time he was on was
Boma Sizing, and while he was at the tail end
of his career, I still think the seasons he had
(11:03):
with the Jets, he was still playing at a high clip,
and out of all of them, i'll give I'll put
Boom up at the top in terms of their reaches.
But yeah, you're right, it does the reek of panic move,
which I don't think it was necessary in a division
(11:25):
where Miami is looking suspect, New England is looking suspect.
Buffalo is definitely the at this point, the team that's
playing the best.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
But I mean, you know, right, the right So.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
I was I was more of the approach of steady
the ship and let's try to get it right. And again,
you know, this is while they get her into the coach.
This is somebody who is known in the organization, is
the leader of the leading unit.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
And so we'll see.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
You know, if it makes Aaron happy and it makes
it gets him to perform better, then the Jets will
be looked at. As you know, y'all, y'all made the
right move, and y'all got the going, y'all got the
organization going in the right direction. But this is definitely
a move that puts Aaron Rodgers' accountability even greater because
(12:27):
if we continue not to play well at the end
of the year, you gotta go theah.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
We don't we don't really need.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yeah. Well, and and the famous words of Isaiah Thomas
when he was he named himself, head go to the
Toronto Raptors. It's so crazy, it might just work.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
It's so crazy, it might just.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
So we'll see. Well. Well, speaking of that division and
divisions in general, I know you've got two divisions to
think about. Who who's for the Jets? Since we are
on the jetsue stick in the AFC East. Who's the
one team in your division that you love to see
suffer the most? Who do you who do you get
(13:10):
the most sense of showing their.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Missis got to be the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Patriots gotta be the.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Patriots because they have dominated at least the last twenty
some ideas, right, and even they had good phases before
the Belichick Brady era. But they are definitely and it's
the new it's the New York Boston thing that you know. Definitely,
the Patriots will be the number one team that I
(13:40):
love to see has bad days and always rooting from
them loose.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, and they so easy to hate their personalities Belichick,
Brady of course, Robert Craft easy, but then you know
st to trickle down. Yeah, Aaron Hernandez, the names like
that is I think the only likable guy that I
can really think of.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Is yeah, he was like so, I mean, honestly, like
from an individual player perspective, you know, having seen them
twice a year and get to know them because they're
in the Super Bowls and Playoffs all the time.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
There's definitely a cool couple of guys that have come
through that organization that I've liked, Like this players, right,
Willie McGinnis stands out Ty Law back in the day, right,
you know, these are some guys that I really did respect.
But honestly, my beef and dislike of the Patriots goes
even before that.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
What do you call it dynasty? It's at the beginning
of the dynasty when Belichick was our coach.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Dons as our coach goes over to like, oh, I
start hating them that day that day. So the fact
that they have had these two decades of dominance after
that only has burned a wound that had already started
to really get in.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
And now there's already talk of Belichick becoming the next coach.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Wow, come on back.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
I wonder if he comes back this does he That's
that would be you know, that's a good thing to
speculate on because the question then is does Aaron Rodgers
stay that Does that increase his chances of playing around?
Because I'm sure Belichick wants a veteran right because he
doesn't have a lot of time to develop a team.
(15:45):
But then there's a question of if they both are
on the same team, can they coexist?
Speaker 2 (15:51):
What would that be? Like?
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Wow, yeah, that'll be fun to watch.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
That'll be fun to watch, even if it's a train.
But I could easily see something like that happening because
I mean, again, he's looking for a team that has,
you know, talent and a good chance to win, just
would be looking for a coach who could take.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Them to another level in New York. Yeah, this is
what movies are made of.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Yeah, we'll see. He might be having too much fun
on TV.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
We'll see Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Yeah, yeah, And but again it would also put his legacy.
I mean, you know, it's it's a risky movie.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
There's a lot of moving pieces. Yeah, how about him?
Doubt this would be tough for I think who's who's
the one team you'd love to see suffer most? Between Philly,
New York and Washington.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Yo, it's hard to pick one. Yeah, Like, I mean,
I don't. I don't like the cop out of many
answers of question, But honestly, my answer is equally all three.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
There is none of them that.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
I have any good feelings for and always like to
see bad things happen to that franchise, All three of
them equally.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
That's that's how deep the beef is.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
And I guess, and I guess it doesn't. It doesn't
like all three of those teams have been successful at
some point, and so it's you know, at some point
you probably had like severe hatred for.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Them, and it's it's it's reciprocated.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Like it's not like any of those franchises, like their
number one would probably all be Dallas. Yeah, yeah, we
like we want Dallas to lose them each one of
those three that would be our depic.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
So they understand. And while I'm like, yeah, it's coming
right back, coming right right at you, I don't like you.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Absolutely. And speaking of which, congrats on the win this weekend.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Oh now I got questions for you, questions.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
For you, Well, let me get this question out of
the way, because I want to Mine would definitely be Cleveland,
simply because simply because Baltimore. I respect them more there,
just like Pittsburgh pretty much, and at least they win,
and so respect them more than you hate them. You
(18:37):
hate them a little bit. Cincinnati, I guess in the
moment right now, they've had and they've had runs of
success where you're like, you know, they start to feel themselves,
you understand it. They think something big is happening. But
Cleveland has never accomplished anything. And every time they have
(18:58):
like one good year year every ten years, they think, yeah,
they start talking ship and they just put the card
before the horse and don't realize there's levels to this
and they just so, I actually right. And so it's
to the point where sometimes I'll just turn on the
(19:21):
Cleveland Browns podcast after they lose just to see them miserable.
Yeah I don't, I do not.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Like the brown Let me let me just listen to them,
come right.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
It's so fun to see them miserable because they go
and they remember this this successful run they had four
years ago and they're like, maybe it'll come back, and
especially now that they have a horrible human being is
their quarterback, and they sign them to the worst contract
in sports histories. They deserve each other. It's fun to
(19:59):
watch Man of seeing Clevelands.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yeah yeah, but first let me ask your favorite Cleveland
player of all time, even with even with that perspective
that you don't like them.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, well, in that sense, I'll put it in my lifetime,
so I exclude. I would probably say Kevin.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Matt Oh, the running back.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Yeah, simply because of tech Mobile. He was a beast
on tech Mobile.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
He was.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Him and Biner, Eric Metcalf, they will all be I
think if it's anybody else mm hmm. Yeah, probably Kevin
matt probably my favorite. Yeah, and he was just good
and he was a boy, so.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
It was yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
So my question is really a quarterback play?
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Are you still we're are you in terms of who
should be quarterback in once Russell is healthy?
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Short answer, definitely Justin Fields. Nothing against russ but I
don't think Justin's done anything to disqualify himself. I think
he can be better. So strictly on him, I think
they knew that it was he was so ill coached
(21:31):
in Chicago mm hmm, that they're almost starting from scratch,
just like you drafted a rookie and you gotta there's
so many bad habits they gotta break, So I think
that's why you see and I wish they would, you know,
open him up more, open the offensive more, allow him
to be who he is right right, running, creating outside
(21:52):
of the pocket. So you see some of that, but
sometimes you wish they would unleash it, but you don't
want him to revert to bad habits. So I get
it because they as a balance there, especially if you're
looking at him possibly being the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
In the future, right, So you want to.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Break a lot of those bad habits. So I get it.
You want to kind of structure a lot of things
to ingrain that before you unleash him, because it's easy
to revert to bad habits when you know, when it's
bullets for it and there's you know, injuries on the
offensive line, lack of weapons on offenses. You know, you
(22:27):
really got George Pickens as a wide out consistently and
even you know, Pickens half the time is jogging through
his routes.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yo, I heard that, but they were like.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah, that's pretty bad. But that's that's the Pittsburgh way.
You find an awesomely talented but troubled receiver who's going
to last you three four years, don't sign him to
a second contract, then you go find another one. That's
just how it works in Pittsburgh. Wow, it's been the
Antonio Brown's and yeah, the Martavis Bryants, you know, the
(23:07):
Emmanuel Sanders, Juju Bran Juju Smith Schuster. Like it's only
really two plex co Burghs. And you know, it's only
been two receivers that have received second contracts in Pittsburgh.
Mike Wallace another one.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Wow, it's like crazy.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
As I'm talking Marcus Wheaton, like I'm just going through names,
James Washington, but only Haines Ward and Antonio Brown have
received second contracts. And Antonio Brown went, we know what
happened here. Yeah, So it's just kind of the Pittsburgh way.
(23:50):
So I'm not even sure if they're banking on given
a second contract to Pickens, because unless they bring in
a veteran to kind of least that one. Muh, you know,
and you know, they thought Deonta Deontay Johnson, there's another one.
They thought he'd be that guy, but he turned out
(24:11):
to be just as immature. So there's there's something for
one day. Definitely, there's a reason why they win the
Brendan a market and now the Davonte Adams trade market.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
There's a reason for what's the name of that wide
receiver that caught the touchdown from Benllis Roethlisberg in the
end zone, like toes smaller another one.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Right, he's the he's the last one that they drafted
in the first round. And so you just see a
cycle of it. They find these amazingly talented receivers who
some way eventually right their way out of right. So,
(25:03):
you know, pickets at the crossroads, you know, at this point,
and maybe the most talented receiver in the league.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, he definitely is super talented.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Right, but yeah, but when you start alienating teammates and
not blocking for runners, not running your routes on the
backside of plays, you know that you don't last long. Right.
So but back to your question with the with the
with the injuries and the youth on the offensive line,
(25:38):
the lack of weapons on offense, I think, hm, I
think Russe will get killed because russ is not as
mobile as used to be and he's not as effective
when he does get out of the pocket as he
used to be. So I don't think it'd be a
huge drop off to Russ, But I think you'd be
doing him a disservice putting him in and under these circumstances,
(26:02):
and especially in week six, just dropping them in there.
So I think you go with fields at least until
the buye and and evaluate things then. But yeah, I
don't I don't think Russell would survive in the current state.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Okay, okay, appreciate that, appreciate.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
It, but yeah, man, but kudos of y'all. Man, Pittsburgh
talked tough, and y'all played to y'all played the hard
nose game.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Hard nose game definitely overcame some mistakes, you know, like
Dak pretty careless with the ball at times, and still
some issues consistently running. So I mean, I think for
us to win the game with those issues and a
(26:53):
couple of injuries on the road, you know, to do
that on the road, I just think it is a
really good sign for the locker room sake, just to have,
you know, something like that occur. But we got a
hard schedule coming up, and so I really, you know,
I feel like last year it was easy to look
(27:15):
at my look at the Dallas Cowboys and say you
are not as good as the forty nine ers, like
I could see that early in the season. This year's
kind of the Lions. I look at the Lions and
just look at the Cowboys and I was like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Yeah, just not that good.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
And I'm hoping for the best and I, you know,
want to have a really good season, but in terms
of the outcome for the end of the year, I'm like,
we can't beat them. But you never know what it
looked like from December and January, but as it stands down,
they look in a whole nother class. And so you know,
I I like to see quarterbacks who have I mean,
(27:55):
I really like to see quarterbacks who fight through it,
who make mistakes. Well at the end of the game,
they have a chance to win and they do it
takes to win the game. I just think like that
is kudos to the mental toughness of those quarterbacks who
are able to do that.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, and shout out that fumble at the end of
the game, yo, because that would have been the play
of the year if Pittsburg he will cover that.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Yeah. And I'm not sure where I heard it. It
might have been Rex Ryan, right, I think I'm pretty
sure it was Rex Ryan who compares that pet compares
that play to Cam Newton not diving on the ball
and a and like, just I just thought that was
(28:41):
like I kind of forgot about that player. It's just
kind of like he was like, basically like, every quarterback
does not make that play. When it's just like, so
as much as we want to rag on that for
when he makes mistakes, recognize that that play right there
would saves the game. Every quarterback does not do that,
right And there's some who hasn't done it, even in.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
The Super Bowl. And he said that, I was like, damn,
that's who remembered that.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Right, And you know, and I've seen people coming on it,
and really that just doing quarterback stuff. That's what you
want your quarterback to do. Right, Most quarterbacks, as we've heard,
you don't put your body on the line for one play.
But with the actual game on the line, he put
his body on the line. It was another There was
(29:28):
the still players right there diving for the fumble as well,
and and so kudos to that. That's a huge play.
And I said, man, he won't get as much credit
for that as he, like you just said, as for
the blame, and he'll take for the other players, and
rightfully so he should get blamed for those plays, But
that play was huge because if they don't recover that fumble,
(29:48):
that's the play of the year so far.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah, without a like, that's that's the greatest play I see,
is still the greatest.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Play, right even yeah, even without it's still an amazing play.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
But I think, just to shout that one on one
last time, I think one of the things I really
value about that is is not just his leadership ability,
but how he chooses to lead. And I I just
(30:23):
respect a leader who in that point and in that
instance is willing to lay it on the line at
the time, like when it counts. That to me is
you know, a good sign of leadership. But I also
respect the leader that chooses to focus on the work,
right like he is someone like that does his best
(30:43):
to try to ignore noise and just focus on what
needs to get done to accomplish our goal. He's always
not the best at it, but I appreciate his focus
on the work because that is critical in terms of execution.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Yeah, and especially in games like that when you know
it's gonna be ugly, playing Pittsburgh is gonna be an
ugly game. That game was designed for Pittsburgh to win
the way it was played out, and to have your
quarterback be able to get his hands dirty and as
a leader in any circumstance football life work.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
If your people, your people or your followers don't know
that you're willing to get your hands dirty and do
the work that they do, you know they they're not
gonna follow you when the times get tough. So in
that kind of game, for him to put his body
on the line, man, kudos the deck. I always say
he's the most over hated player in the league. Not
a Dack fan, but I respect what I respect.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
It definitely comes with the quarterback position of the Dallas Cowboy.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Yeah yeah, man, Well, moving on the week six. Man,
we're gonna preview these games in a sec. But before
we do, what do you know that you know after
week five?
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Well?
Speaker 3 (32:05):
I know I know after week five that the Sam
Darnald improvement is not just a lip on the screen.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
And I'm not saying he's, you know, going to the
Hall of Fame, but I do think he is establishing
himself as somebody who deserves to be a starting quarterback
in this league, whether it's in Minnesota or when JJ
(32:46):
McCarthy comes, he goes somewhere else. I do think I
do think he is showing that he deserves to be
a quarterback in this league.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Right absolutely, Yeah, impressive by him, Like that whole team
is I think having everybody on that team and key
positions is having career years. Yeah, Sam Donald, Andrew Van Ginkle,
Brian Flores and he's been great all along. But the
way that I said it last week and pools on
(33:17):
the way Flores has that defense playing, is it's legit
like they are they are killing him.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
I mean Ginkle play that's pretty impressive too.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Yeah, like Ven Ginkle like it's several to lose, you know,
Daniel Hunter and get better is a defense is impressive.
So yeah, one thing I know, I know after week
five and like I know, it's content and clicks and views.
(33:59):
We all like to sounds smart before the season because
we've got to have content, but primarily because of injuries
and like you just mentioned stories like Sam Donald, we
don't know that we're talked about.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
No, just really don't really don't like it's content generation.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
Right, like because before the season, for one, the AFC North,
somebody would have told you that Pittsburgh would be tied
for first of Baltimore and Cincinnati and Cleveland would be
the last and one in the one and four. Nobody
would believed that somebody, right, somebody had told you that
Minnesota will be undefeated. Nobody believed that somebody had told
(34:43):
you that San Francisco and there are there afore mentioned
AFC North teams and you know those teams will be
under five hundred. Nobody will believe and so, and injuries
have played huge role in that. You know, look at
the injuries in San fran look at the injuries in Dallas,
(35:06):
the injuries in Pittsburgh, everywhere. And last year we had
an abundance of quarterbacks get hurt and the kind of
effected play. But this year it's just the league wide
stars across the board. You know, we've had already, you know,
Michael Parsons missing multiple games, the Marcus Lawrence missing multiple games,
(35:30):
Alex high Smith missing multiple games. You're want the Raiders
now they're there, Max Crosby missing multiple games, Like that's
just off the top of mynd Like it's Christian McCaffrey,
like you know, Nick Chubb. It's everywhere. And so this
(35:51):
is what makes it so fun though. So that's what
I know. I know is it's week five. We still
don't know what they were.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Talking about, still trying to figure it out still, And
I mean, honestly, the NFL week by week changes, and
so even once you get to December, like wow, there
are some trends, and there are some teams that are
playing better and establish themselves as consistent performers. The injuries
(36:19):
that could occur on a week to week basis is
really can be game changers. But then also as such
a league that is rooted in parody, that it's really
hard to establish any franchise as unbeatable.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Absolutely, yeah, that's uh. All we can do is keep
guessing that we do. Let's get into our picks for
the week.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Man.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Just Thursday night, when we got the forty nine ers,
we just mentioned them traveling to Seattle. I take on
the Sea Hawks. Ord is coming off a heartbreaking loss,
Seahaw is coming off of heartbreaking loss. Who bounces back?
Who you got?
Speaker 2 (37:08):
I'm going to go with the Addle.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Bouncing back, especially if there especially if San Frans offense
isn't full strength, I feel like they'll be able to
get some yards score some points and the defense will
be able to disrupt San Frano no to where Sam
(37:38):
Seattle I think pulls it out in a close one.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Yeah, and Geno's been impressive, man.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yeah, next game, and that was a Thursday night game.
Next week got the Jacksonville Jaguars going to the Chicago Bears,
who you got.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
One of the more surprising teams in the league for
me has been Jacksonville. I know they have you know,
they haven't figured it out historically, so why am I
surprised they didn't figure it out so far? It's either
but I kind of feel like last week might have
been a turning point, and so I'm going to roll
with Jacksonville. Jacksonville pulling it out there. I think in
(38:32):
I think this is a in London game.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
So there's no home team advantage in Chicago not playing
in the heat in Jacksonville, which might be a good
thing with the weather coming through them this week. But
I'm going with Jacksonville beating the bead. Sorry, it's hard
to say that.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Pool here it over one o'clock staring the Sunday one
o'clock games, they'd say this, but probably the most surprising
team in the league, the Washington Commanders. Yeah, going uh
right up the street take on to Baltimore. Ravens should
be a great game, man, who you take it?
Speaker 3 (39:15):
This will be definitely a game and I hope to
be sitting on my college watching. It's gonna be a
pretty exciting game. Yeah, yeah, you know that. Being you know,
it's gonna be fun to watch these two quarterbacks go
at it. But I also want to say, I don't
think Baltimore's defense is the old traditional.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Right, so it's.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Gonna be fun to see what he can bring and
just fun to watch. The City's too young man though,
Lamar has been the league for a while, but see
how he responds with you know, the new Lamar right.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Playing against him. I think it's gonna be fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
But you know what's gonna be interesting though, considering Baltimore's,
like you said, Lamar's you're still young, but he's been
in the league for a while. What kind of plan
Baltimore has since they see him every day in practice, mhm,
and Washington has never really like they don't and they've
(40:18):
only seen Jane Daniels for six months, right, So I
wonder what kind of plan Baltimore comes up with because
maybe they have something. You know, you see him every day,
maybe you know how to stop that type of quarterback.
But it's gonna be fun to watch. Man. Another one
(40:38):
o'clock game, the Arizona Cardinals, coming off that win against
San France, go to green Bay to take on the Packers.
Who you taking?
Speaker 2 (40:53):
I think.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Green Bay is probably favored, and you know, with Jordan
love Back, I think that's a good reason too, and
the fact that they're in green Bay. I like how
the defense is playing at times with the Packers. I'm
gonna go with I'm gonna go with green Bay on
(41:16):
this one.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
All right.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Next we got Houston traveling to your love New England.
Patriots take Yeah, New England.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
I don't think it's gonna be close. I do think,
you know, at least a touchdown they'll win. I know
they've replaced their quarterback, which I don't think it's a
bad move.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
So I do think, you know, you might as well.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
Put it in because of what we've seen from Jacoby
Pressett this season, and let's see what we got with
the young boy. But Texans defense is too solid, and
I think the offense has been rolling as well, like C. J.
Stroud in this one to really go off no.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Doubt, all right, and uh, Tampa Bay traveling to New Orleans,
you take it.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
I'm going with the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
Thought the Saints they you know, this is back to
you don't really know anything early on. Don't don't get
fooled by the fool's goal. The Saints was fooling me
with the fools.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Goal, you know, like they were winning and then they're not.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
But I also think they've you know, had some close
chances of winning. So even though they've lost the last
three games, you know, they've been competitive games all of them,
and so one to the Falcons they lose with the
field goal.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
And then the last second.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
So I'm not going to overreact and say the Saints, uh,
you know, not what we thought they are.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Just it's still too early.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
This is more of what I see in the Buccaneers
and that they've been solid and I think they can
go down to New Orleans and especially if car Derek
Carr is hurt or compromise it anyway, Tampa Bay should
be able to win this.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Okay, Uh, next week, got a Those are two of
our most hated teams. Cleveland Browns traveling the Phils. Who
you taking?
Speaker 2 (43:16):
You know, I know the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
The Eagles are favored in this by a lot, I'm sure,
but I do think it's going to be closer than
people imagine. I'm still going with Philly in this one.
But I do think that at some point the defense
is going to get an offense that joins them in
(43:41):
above average play in Cleveland. I think that the defense
has been doing a fairly decent job. Offense hasn't been
doing it all And with the Eagles injuries on the
offensive side, I do think they you know, they could
It's could be closer than people imagine. So but I'm
(44:02):
still going with Philly.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
Okay, we've got Indie traveling to Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
We got It's hard for me to co sign the
Titans right now with Will Levis being inconsistent, So I'm
gonna go with the Colts. I think they have a
more balanced offense, so should be able to outscore what
(44:31):
Tennessee is putting on the board. I think he back
to Levis. I think he got some arm talent, just
with a lot of quarterbacks. It's just gonna be about
can you make the right decisions to be a quality quarterback.
Speaker 1 (44:45):
Yeah. I think Will Levis thinks he's in like an
episode of Friday Night Light So Varsity. It's always like
one play in every game where he's just like, oh,
this is my time, I gotta do some crazy.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
I got to do something great, right, and.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
It's becomes a meme like I think he's I think
he really thinks he's a quarterback in a Disney movie.
Some shit.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
It's crazy like not today, bro right, not today.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Next game to start the four o'clock docket, we got
the Chargers traveling to Denver. Who you got m.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
Denver's playing good ball, you know, surprising teams with with
the wins bow Knicks is not throwing the game away,
So shout out to what they're building in Denver.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
But if.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Hallball has Herbert playing, I'm gonna I'm gonna take them
getting the dub in Denver this week.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Right next, Pittsburgh travels to Vegas to take on the Raiders,
whoever their quarterback might be.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
The Raiders is chaos right now. Man, I'm going still
as all the way, get it. They get a rebound,
get the dub, go into Vegas. I think they might
be able to run it on them. I think the
the tight end action, I think they're vulnerable to that
as well. So if Justin can get it to fire moved,
(46:19):
I think they got a good shot.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
To moving and get some first downs and scoring some
points hopefully. Uh.
Speaker 1 (46:29):
Atlanta travels to Charlotte take on the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
What you got Yeah, I'm gonna take the Falcons in
this one. You know, Panthers got to figure out what's
happening with the quarterback and the offense. Defenses solid but
not good enough.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
Yeah, it's funny. Last week the Panthers were playing the Bears,
so I texted Money and Pool. I was like, yo, yoh,
got some ship this week? What's up? But he was like, man,
we suck. I was like, yeah, but at least now
y'all like an actual NFL team last couple of weeks.
And then they went and got beat about thirty.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
So yeah, right right right.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
Detroit going to Dallas to take on your Cowboys. This
is this is the litmus test. What are we? What
are we taking here?
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Well?
Speaker 3 (47:20):
I mean hm, I already confessed early in the in
this show that I don't think the Cowboys is as
good as the Lion, So I would be uh, inconsiderate,
I mean inconsistent hypocritic if I you know, and I
am not always so objective. But no, in this one,
(47:42):
I'm going with Detroit.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
Okay, Uh he said that I didn't. Cowboys. Yeah, yeah,
Cincinnati traveling to the Giants. This is This could be uglier,
This could be a high scoring game either way. Who
you take it?
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Oh, I'm going to go this is gonna be an
interesting game.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Sunday night football.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
Yeah, again, I'm going with the this is hard. I
think I'm gonna go with the Bengals. I think I'm
gonna go with the Bengals. I was just telling somebody
that I'm probably higher on Daniel Jones than most people,
and I think he is going to prove himself to
(48:32):
be a solid NFL quarterback. Now a game breaker, but solid.
And I looked at the Giants. I think they're gonna
beat more teams that people are gonna pick them on,
because I think they're gonna surprise some people. I just
think that Bengals need this win bad and if it
(48:58):
means we gotta throw it to Jim Chase forty seven
times to get this win, They're going to do what
it takes to leave New York, New Jersey with the Dubs.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
I'm gonna go with the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
It'll be a pretty nice little countermatch up Jamar Chase
and Malik Neighbors.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
That's gonna be fun.
Speaker 1 (49:24):
Last game of the week Monday night, we've got Buffalo
driving to your Jets. What it looks like.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
J E t s Jets, Jets, Jets.
Speaker 3 (49:33):
I think we have a situation where the Jets are
going to rally around the new coach. The defense is
gonna play lights out because their guy is now the guy,
and it's at home. They're gonna feel the energy. And
I just see the Jets finding a way to pull
(49:56):
this out and get you know, they need this to
stay in contention for our division. So this is especially
a right, I mean, the first place team and this
is the start of the head to head. We got
we gotta we gotta get this double. It's not an option.
So yeah, this is there's no option. We got to
(50:21):
win and they're just gonna have to play like that.
So I'm gonna go with the more desperate team coming
out with a win.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
No doubt.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
All right, But that's it for this week before we go. Man,
what were your what were your thoughts on man? No,
it's preseason, but seeing Brian and Brianni on the.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
Court together, Oh, man, I think he is accomplishing every
father's dream, right and so and a shout out to
him for accomplishing a goal something he set out for,
(51:04):
you know, years and it's just a magical, magical moment.
I'm you know, for those who have heard this show,
you know, I can't say I'm in the top fifty
of Lebron fans, but what he has done in the
last decade or so is significantly earned my respect of
(51:28):
him as a player. And so you know, like, you
ain't got to like me, but you're gonna respect me.
And I have nothing but the utmost respect for this man.
And I think here's another thing when people affle, So
what made you change?
Speaker 2 (51:44):
You respect this guy so bad? And he also is
another thing to add to the list. Like, so I'm
happy for him.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
I'm happy for Ron, happy for the Lakers, not one
of my franchises anymore. We are still officially divorced, but
I don't want bad for them, and I you know,
I hope for the best, but I'm all in with
these Knicks with call Anthony Town looking forward to a
(52:15):
Jalen Brunson led effort this year. And I think, you know,
I'm all in and I'm picking the Knicks. I picked
them last year and I'm still riding with those Knicks
and love to call Anthony trade.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
Really they're definitely going all out for this. So yeah,
and you know, and it's not for sure. This is real,
real with the Knicks. So it looks like it's legit.
Speaker 3 (52:41):
And that's the other part, right, is that it's a
It's different from what we probably have seen for the
last twenty years or so in terms of the construction
of team and the spirit and energy behind it. And
to your point, it is very authentic and very and
and they are a team that people can root for,
(53:05):
whether you're a Nick fair or not. And I think
that is great to be part of In terms of
Nick fans.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
Yeah, man, you know, it's it's weird. I'm gonna be
following you around as a fan because again, yeah, that's
you know, of course I'm still holding on my Laker fan,
but you know, I was the Knicks fan when you know,
when Larry Johnson was there. Of course, my favorite player
of all time, but it's you know, it's kind of
(53:33):
you know, since then, it's kind of like it ain't
really done nothing for me. But this next team is
easy to root for. I'm you know, I'm a I'm
a I like Bridges. Yes, yes, that was a great move,
but I like this. I like this team. It's not
just like like when they brought in Mellow. You know,
(53:56):
there was there's more because Mellow's name wasn't really constructed well.
But now they're building around Bronson and they really got
some real pieces there and giving up a big asset
in Randall to get a better asset.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
And the DiVincenzo.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
There's a fan favorite, right uh groomsman and Jalen Bruns's
wedding a great three point shooter. So you know it
was when I heard the trade, it definitely was. I
didn't want to see de vin I call him DaVinci,
that's kind of my nickname. Didn't want to see da Vinci.
(54:39):
Part of it. I liked Randall what he brought to
the team, but I also that the GM and me
understood that this he was the asset that had to
be moved because he had great value. But I didn't
necessarily see sign him again that it was kind of
(55:01):
one of the things like, well, damn, if we not
going to sign him, maybe it's best to move and
see what we can get. So I really think from
that flipping an asset perspective to your point, I think
that was a great move. But I'm i'm I'm with you.
Like the construction of the team as a cohesive unit
(55:22):
seems to make sense. But the guys themselves, the way
they play, Bridges runs and hart O g I just
love the way they bring it on the court. And
then we'll see if Carl Anthony can how he kind
(55:42):
of adjusts. I think I'm hoping that he fits in
and particularly is not having to be the guy won't
be It won't be an issue.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
And he's definitely an upgrade Harden style. Yeah, Towns is
definitely a better player, so being upgrades, like you said,
as long as he learns how to adjust, and it
is wrong because it's still jetting Bronson's team, it's going
to be his team. So I think that'll be fun.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
And what I learned in this transaction is that he's
from the area. I don't know that is from the area,
so that might help with just the cultural adjustment that
occurs with some players coming.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
To play in the area. So it's all about the
next welcome all a.
Speaker 3 (56:34):
You know, I'm always welcoming people who want to join
as a hand of teams. I am not one of
them teams fan guys who like no, no, we are
not accepting. We are always come on, come on over.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
And are you ready to come back to the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
I'll be there to welcome as long as Lebron is
on the team.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
Right, as long as he's still there.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
Still does it trans for like real estate to the sun.
Speaker 1 (57:05):
I gotta I gotta feel my BRONI fanship out first,
but uh, you know it might it might last you
a two three year window.
Speaker 2 (57:16):
Okay, okay, okay, I got, I got some time, I
got you.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
Got Bron got three years left and then Brownie after
that maybe if he if he's stick around. So yeah,
we guys, I'll be here. I'll be so just.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
Before we get out of here, you just kind of
reminded me that this is just an amazing part of
the sports calendar. So just for for for for b
be able to watch uh some basketball, uh NFL college basketball,
w n b A hockey starting tonight the playoffs is starting,
(57:55):
I mean in baseball, So you're right, w n b
A playoffs, Baseball playoffs. This is all happening all in
one weekend. Man, this is fantastic. This has been good,
good to experience. I love this time of the year.
It's only like for a week or two, but let's
let's let's do it.
Speaker 1 (58:13):
Yeah, and then the weather is starting to feel like
fall web my favorite time of the year.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Yeah, I get that. I get that too.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
So yeah, you're absolutely right. This is the the exact
the opposite end of the spectrum of.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
Like hmm, like late late June. Yeah right, nothing, nothing, but.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Yeah, man, So that's it man for this week. Anything
get off your chest, any partner shots before we leave.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
Man.
Speaker 3 (58:40):
The only thing in terms of partner shot things I
want to mention is people in the southeast dealing with
Hurricane Milton. You know, just uh if if you need
to evacuate, evacuate, if you hunker in in honker In
but uh, you know, there's no thoughts and prayers with
all those people who are dealing with Hurricane Milton, and
(59:01):
then even those who just have just dealt with the
past Hurricane Helene. That just came through like a week
and a half ago. So it's a lot going on
people dealing with stuff down to southeast.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
Absolutely, man, and piggyback off of that, man, inform yourself.
It's twenty twenty four. If you are uninformed, that's a
choice at this point. So you know, coming off Helene
heading in the Mountain, get informed instead of bitching about
do so about. If you want to help out, help out,
actually take action because people out there need help. And
(59:38):
stop spreading misinformation and just to get people riled up
or clicks of views or whatever. If you want to
help help there are plenty of ways to do so.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
So anyways, and you know, I was watching something on
one of the channels this morning. They were actually highlighting
people's efforts from North Carolina to Georgia, South Carolina, which
your point, people just took it upon themselves to just
say here's what I can do to Hew and did it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Absolutely yeah. So you know, in the world of social media, people,
you know, it's a lot of you know, people that
think be getting on this mic is gonna do the
