Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hi, everybody. I'm Lisa Askle's the Inventress. I'm the CEO
and founder of Inventing a to Z and here proudly
at the Inventors Podcast. I always have amazing guests, you
know that, but today beyond excited, beyond excited to have
best selling author, extraordinary entrepreneur Melanie Bonita. Let me tell
(00:30):
you something you want a dealy dose. She is a
daily dose coach. Welcome Melanie to The Inventor's Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Hey, thank you, hey, hey, hey, thank you so much
Lisa for having me.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I'm so excited to be here. What is going on? Well,
what's not going on? Probably one of the busiest people
I know, hands down. I mean you really are, Yes,
my own author, you're a publisher, you're an inventor, you're
(01:06):
you're just a coach. You do all of these things.
You read the billboards all over New York City, Florida,
you name it, your billboards everywhere because of what you do.
So Melanie, welcome, so wonderful to see you. Let's talk
about you. Let's show yourself off.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, no, seriously, you're right. It's so
funny that you said that I was Actually I had
some interviews this week to get some authors and actually
women in business and women in ministry on billboards in
New York Times Square for Women's International Month coming up
in March. So yes, so we're working on more billboards
(01:56):
now in New York Times Square. And you know that's
the place to be if you want to be on
a billboard. That's like the only place to be on
a billboard, right that right, that's.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
The place you could talk about that forever I was
on my billboard. I still talk about it.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, no, not everything every other day exactly. And so
just working on like say, getting not even just authors
but authors like say, women in business and women in
Ministry and billboards, working on my eleventh book, currently coaching
more authors to be six figure authors. So I've been
(02:31):
pretty busy lately.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
So let's talk about your business. So if I were to,
I mean, you have so many different dimensions and so
much to you, which is what God gives us, right yativity,
and not to do one thing. So you talk about
your billboards, you talk you know, you're getting people on billboards.
What is the what is the main event and what
sprouts from there? Because of course one business builds other businesses, right,
(02:58):
So what is your day to day?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
So the main business is helping author speakers and coaches
create more impact, influence, and increase in their income. How
through my six figure author Academy. So I have an
actually academy where I have authors. I meet with them
once a week and I give them inspiration. I give
them strategies on how to get more book signings, more
(03:22):
speaking engagements, and just really get out there. Because a
lot of authors just they write the book, right, they
write the book, then they don't know how to get
the book out. They don't know how to make money
from the book, and they need help. And so I'm
here to help them get that exposure so that they
could sell books and get away from their job which
(03:44):
just over broke, right. I teach them only how to
make money from their books and how to. I've been
a full time author, speaker and coach for I don't know,
nine ten years now, so I haven't worked a job,
and they're like, I want to be like you. I
want to be full time too, and they just know how.
So that's primarily what I do. And so from that,
(04:05):
with the marketing strategies, I teach them how to you know,
get on the billboards in New York Times Square, how
to expand their social media because one thing I found
out is if you know how to work social media,
people will buy whatever you have. If you have one
hundred thousand YouTube subscribers, one hundred thousand Facebook followers, Instagram,
(04:26):
TikTok anything, They're gonna buy whatever you have.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
They don't even care.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
I mean, if you have a thousand of them out
of the one hundred thousand, buy that's still gonna put
money in your pockets. If you have a thousand people
to buy your books.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
So how do you get so you're seeing one hundred thousand.
So doesn't matter how many followers you have on social media.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
It does, especially if you have the quality followers. It
really does matter, okay, because the more you have, the
more opportunities you have to sell them something, the more
opportunities you have to help people, the more opportunities you have.
The less amount of followers you have, the less opportunities.
But the thing is you have to have the followers
(05:07):
and the opportunities. A lot of followers, A lot of
people that are on social media, they don't know their
potential because they don't have a book they don't have products,
they don't have services. That's where you come in the
adventurous right where you help them get their products done
right and help them have different ways to get it out.
But social media, to me, hands down is one of
(05:28):
the best ways when they don't.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Have someone like you.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
And that's why the TikTok shops are flying off because
people have all these products, but now they have people
and influencers that can sell their products on TikTok shops.
So yeah, so it really does matter. So people that
don't have a large follower yet, they actually get influencers
to promote and market their products and services now.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
So you see it's about the influencer. So okay, so
we have social media, have a great social media team
obviously know that. I mean, they're amazing. Yeah, so you're
saying that you need is it important that you have influencers?
So you're on social media, but having influencers is it
(06:14):
as important? Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
If you're not to the point yet where you have
enough followers, you could partner with influencers that will help
you get more followers. You could partner with influencers that
will promote your product, services and brands. So you could
use influencers on so many different ways, just like.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Me and you are having a podcast.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Now, Yes, you can partner and get on somebody an influencer.
Like if you were to partner with Tapata Brown and
you were on her podcast, can you imagine how many
people would start following you and start right? So it's
that it's basically so many ways you could partner with
influencers to help grow your brand, to help sell your
(06:57):
products and really ultimately make more mone So the key
is becoming that influencer.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
And that's what we're doing. I mean, this is exactly
what's happening. Yeah, that's why I'm gonna step back and
take a look at what we're doing because that's exactly
what's happening. The more we talk, the more we get
in front of people, your audience, my audience. You know,
we're gonna share who you are. Ye, And that's how
it happens, the momentum, the domino effect begins. Yes, So
(07:27):
when you are you're again you're doing a multitude of things.
You're getting people on billboards, So how do they start
working with you in order to let's talk about the
book thing? So you're helping them promote their book. Yes,
so you're not the publisher. You're not publishing books, you're
not meedmore.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I used to publish, like during the pandemic, when I
couldn't get out there and do the in person speaking
engagements in book sign is, I did publish. But now
I only publish my own books. And sometimes people want
to do like anthology and book collaboration projects, so I
do help them manage that and or publish that, because
that's very different than just writing your own book when
(08:08):
you have a lot of authors coming together.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Okay, but your main thing is so so you're not
you're not really publishing books anymore. What you're doing is
helping people get recognized who are on Amazon, who are
on Ingram, who are in Barnes and Noble. And you
don't have to give away all your trade secrets. But again,
what is that? What are those steps? And where? Of
(08:33):
course what a direct people to you in order to
understand that? So what are your some of your trade secrets?
I mean, I'm one of the talking I'm Barnes and Noble, Amazon,
I'm just showing off Noble, Amazon, Ingram, But how do
I get how do I get out there? More?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Well, the first way is what we just talked about,
really expanding your social media. So in my six figure
author academy, I teach them compound of social media. Like
literally every week I've been getting an extra one hundred
subscribers on YouTube, so I talk yeah, so I'm teaching
them also, Okay, this is what I did to get
(09:13):
an extra one hundred subscribers on YouTube every week for
the past three, four or five weeks. Let me show
you how you do that so we can make you
an influencer as well. So if you have again ten
thousand subscribers, you're going to sell at least ten to
fifteen twenty thirty books a day, right, ok So, and
then I'm gonna teach you how to get on Etsy
and how to create your ets shop. I'm teaching them
(09:34):
how to get on TikTok and their TikTok shop. I'm
keeping them accountable. Say hey, did you do your TikTok
shop yet, I'm keeping them accountable. How many books did
you sell this week? What are your goals for January?
What are your goals for twenty twenty five? And so
not only that, I'm inspiring them, encouraging them at the
beginning of our six figure author academy meetings, we say
(09:55):
affirmations and declarations, and I teach them that death and
life is in the power of because some of them
are so discouraged and like I've been an author for
a whole year and I've only sold ten books. Like,
let's change that, right, So I'm encouraging them, inspiring them,
teaching them the affirmations and the declarations and showing them
the importance of it. And we open up with prayer,
(10:16):
the importance of prayer. So it's all around academy that
they're not just getting the tips, the tools and the trade.
I'm teaching them spiritual principles in addition to natural principles
in order to get these books sold. Show them like
things that they never thought of, like, oh, you need
to sell your books and bulk.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Right, you need to be given out ten bookmarks.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Today, right, A lot of people again both authors don't
even think of. And I give them like a script
on what to say in order to sell these books.
When they give out ten books today, we're all we
got the grocery stores, we're at the gas stations, we're
meeting all these people. Why aren't you telling these people
about your book, and let me show you how to
tell them. So you're selling books out the trunk of
(10:59):
your car every single day, when you're at the hair salon,
where you're at the nail place, where you're at the
actual laughing like, see, people don't even think about that.
You know, where something fire up?
Speaker 1 (11:10):
You're on fire, like this is this is what I Please,
don't fire me up anymore than I'm fired up. Usually
Stop it, Melanie, stop it. But that's it. It's all
about the inspiration, yes, And it's the truth. When you
are inspired to do something and you surround yourself by
(11:31):
people who uplifted you and inspire you, you're inspire to
do anything. Like you, I'm about to put some books
in my car. Wait, what time is it? It's getting dark.
I'm not doing that tonight. Car't gonna shop right yet?
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Seriously, I mean people like, how are you selling books
everywhere you go? Like I'll be at a networking event
and one of the speak all the time, she say,
every time I see you, you you have a book
that you're selling and your autography.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
How do you do that?
Speaker 2 (12:02):
And so it's strategy and you just have to know
the strategy. I teach them how to like even like
my shirts and they ask me about my books. So
I have people ask me about my book everywhere I
go because I wear I call it a walking billboard
right everywhere you go. I have these are like twenty
different colors lia and I sell them at my Etsie shop.
(12:23):
So I'm like, if they don't have to create their
own shirts, they could go straight to my ETSI shop
and buy all kinds of shirts that help them be
a walking billboard every day. And so in addition to that,
I teach them how to like even have a transparent
person have their books in the transparent perse So people
are asking them, oh, who what book is that?
Speaker 1 (12:45):
The Secrets? Yeah, I'm giving you look just look, it
doesn't matter, it doesn't even matter. It's you though, it's
your energy. When they're around you, they're inspired. I met you,
I don't know ten years I don't even know how
many years now. You came to my Princeton conference at
AOI conference at Princeton, a bunch of people. I mean,
(13:08):
you were on fire then. And then prior to that,
I went to one of your events in Atlantic City.
I didn't know who you were, but all I knew
was I was in somebody invited. I don't even know
how it got there, but I was like, wait a minute,
this girl is a walking billboard. That night you introduced
me to I don't even know how many people we were.
(13:30):
You know, we had lobster. I was like, my head
was spinning. And you know I'm always on fire, right
you fired me up. I think I didn't sleep for
three days. Wow, I'm to catch up up my rest.
This is nine years. But but that's you. You are
such a ball of energy and inspiration. And know how
(13:51):
I mean you're You're not new, You're not new to
the game. You're not new. You've been here you are.
I mean, stand up again, Melanie, stand up again? No,
come on, let me see that T shirt again? Like
you ask me about my come on, that's ridiculous. Book
at the bottom and everybody. But this is what it
takes when you want to succeed in a business. You
(14:14):
push your business in every single way. You have all
of the they're not even tricks. It's education. It's giving
people the knowledge of what it takes. It's being on
fire and not stopping doing those videos, getting in front
of people. You want one hundred followers a day. Get
out there and talk to those people. Right, Yes, you
(14:35):
can't just expect to put something out on social media
and not do the work to follow up, to get
the followers, to get the engagement, and to get get
on billboards and find out how right, find out how
through Melanie, I mean like your books. I mean you
you have all of these incredible coaching books. Let's talk
(14:59):
a litle little bit about that before we wrap. Okay,
you have, I mean, come on, how your first book,
your first.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Book, Daily Dose of Determination to help people get more
determined to live their dreams.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Everybody needs to buy that book first of all, and
listen to you. I hope it's on record. I hope
you have a book on I'm going to sound old
school and and like, let people know my age book
on tape, because they need to hear your voice, you know,
not just may. I want them to hear your voice
and what you say, because listening to a robot is
not the same as listening to you.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Right now, you're absolutely and I agree, it's totally different.
I do need to put That's one of the things
on my list for twenty five and to start putting
my books on audio books.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, your voice. I'm doing the same thing because it's you. Yes,
listen to something and you could read something, but you
are the energy. You are the brand. You know. I
talked to somebody this morning who said to me, yeah,
I'm not going to start my podcast because there's so
many podcasts that I go, but it's your podcast, right,
(16:04):
You're you, You're the difference. So you, Melanie, are the
difference in what you do. Everybody can have and nobody's
competing or trying to take your space because there's plenty
of room this room out there for everybody. This really
is there's there's don't even have to be competition. It's
teaching people to do things for themselves, not to compete
(16:27):
against your sister, because we're not competing against our sister
or anybody else. We're doing our own thing, which is
what you're doing, yes, with your unique, amazing self. With
the pearl go ahead, girl, Well you know it's so funny.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
I was gonna put on because the shirt had golden,
and I was like, oh, I was gonna put on
my gold But I do. I really love wearing pearls,
like every day.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I love it. I love it. I was like, I
really don't go with my shirt, but shirt listen, you
do your own swag. You do your your own swag.
That's what I've always loved about you. You do your
own swag. You make the unique you, and you bring
people to you. Yeah. I'm not even a selling way,
(17:10):
not that that's anything you want, because we've got to
all sell ourselves, right, Yeah, but you're not doing it
in such a way that you're like, come on now tonight,
you're gonna get it five fifty five if you. But
I have done that too, I own, but your personality
could do it because your personality can, and it's coming
from a place of education and building their businesses. You're
(17:32):
not just building your business. Now, come on, it's not
about just building your business. You thrive in your heart
when you see other people thrive. I've seen you do
it with me. You've promoted that heck out of me,
like without me even knowing it. Yeah, what I mean,
you have and you're not doing it because you're looking
(17:55):
to get anything. You automatically do you know the universe, God,
you're automatically blessed and you're getting what you put out there.
So I thank you for being the amazing person you
are and everybody needs a dose of you. Everybody needs
a dose of you. Thank you, and I can't wait
to see you at the conference. Maybe yes, it's on
