Speaker 3 (00:24):
Now Here are your hosts, Jess Root and Seth Cox.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Hello as that of Cardinals fans, and welcome to the
latest edition of the Rise Up Serioit podcast, the star
of Cardinals Talk on the Web and your host Jessroot
from Cardswire dot com USA, today's NFL wire site that
covers Arizona Cardinals. As we have episodes seven hundred and
seventeen or maybe seven sixteen dicipine depends on which order
I released the episodes because I recorded one. I recorded

(00:54):
the opponent preview this afternoon. We're recording on a Thursday
night with Cole Muskrow. So I've got Seth Cox, my
co host with me from Revenge of the Birds dot
com expanationsers on a Cardinal site to do our Cardinal
Seahawks Week ten preview picks and predictions. But I was

(01:14):
on a podcast recording Binge today and then I'm going
to be a guest on Cole's podcast, and then Seth
and I are just discussing the joys of having older
children minor All adults and seths are reaching there so

(01:34):
and they like to do their own thing. They can't
just do things the way we know is will bring
the most success. But kids are built different now.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
And let's put it.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
But the Cardinals are now built differently. The Cardinals went
to officially not only not only is Jacoby Brissette the
starter this week they put Kyler Murray on the shelf.
They put him on injured reserve, forcing him to get healthy.

(02:12):
However you want to read into that, could Jacoby Brissett
will be the starter at least for the next four weeks.
Kyler will miss the at least the next four weeks.
And goodness, it does like this. The off season will

(02:34):
be a lot of talk. But doesn't it feel like
that we are they're quietly putting Kyler Murray away so
that it's not a problem if Jacoby struggles at all.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
Yeah, it just feels like that. That's the whole idea
behind it, and you know, it's an interesting thing and
and body of ours. But text me and his thought
process and his response was can't they just be normal?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Like?

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Can this? Can this? I know they can't get out
of their own way. They can't do anything normal or
anything of that nature. It's always just they've always got
to make everything a production and a show. And then
they wonder why, you know, for the entire time in Arizona,

(03:24):
you know, but even recently, they're just they're not highly
thought of. And then and then things like this happen,
and and you know, I think I think for the
most part, you know, most people are you know, looking
at it and going, oh, yeah, it makes sense, go
at your Kobe, he's not at hand. I had one
person from the league text me today and his thoughts

(03:47):
were really really interesting because let me read them to you.
Here what you do? Where did it go? Sorry, he's

(04:11):
you know, the hit again. NFL guy said, people ignoring
the monumental change and playing calling in alignment and used
to play action as as you know, the main catalyst
for the performance improvement. And and you look at it
and it's you know, something you and I've talked about, right,

(04:33):
and people will just say, oh, you know, you're being
an apologist or this or that. It's like no, no,
like it's it's an actual thing that like real NFL
people are are going, oh, like, don't get me wrong,
it's not like there's nothing against We're set in that, right,

(04:54):
Like there's no negative about we're set. It's just like,
why wasn't this how you were calling the offense, you know,
the whole time, Like like where was this this this
play selection? Where was you know, being this aggressive downfield?
Like where were those calls at? And you know, that's

(05:14):
something you and I have said for the last couple
of weeks, and and you know, the biggest concern now
with the with the whole situation is obviously the fact
that there is a legitimate concern if Jacoby goes down

(05:35):
with the amount of hits he's taking every single week,
that it's just not a sustainable model, right, And that's
something that we've talked about with this offense in general,
that the days of the quarterback that can stand back
there and take this kind of pounding, that can that

(05:58):
can live in the pocket and live to take you know, again,
think about it. This is game three, you know, from
from Jacoby, and he's averaging being hit sixteen times a game.
Sixteen that's sacks and quarterback hits. That's two hundred and

(06:23):
seventy two hits over the course of the season.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
It's not surviving that. Like it's like he's a bigger,
tougher guy, like he like his toughness, right, you love it,
but it's not it's not sustainable. And then and you know,
as we talk about because this is where we're going
to preview the Seahawks, you look at the other side,
you look at the opponent. Jacoby's been sacked thirteen times

(06:49):
in the last three games. Sam Darnold has been sacked
nine times the entire season.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Well, and when people were very vocal that, you know,
Kyler's the issue with the offensive line, I'm like, am
I watching the same thing? Like sometimes I feel like,
you know, I'm taking crazy pills. And I'm like, and
I get it. There's a there's a percentage of fans
that that you know, don't know a whole lot about

(07:22):
the game. And that's not there's nothing wrong with that.
You know that being a fan is is just that,
you know, it's it's learning and things of that nature.
But but it's almost like there was this like concerted
effort to be like you see see like if they
have a quarterback that'll just step up in the pocket,
all this goes away and and now you're looking at

(07:44):
it and you're going, Okay, the offense is playing you know,
at a at a you know, good level, not you know,
it's not a world beater level. It's it's it's at
a decent level. And that's the conversation is like, man,
how sustainable is this model? Are talking to somebody else today,

(08:06):
And the conversation was like, you know, well, all you
got to do is get a Josh Allen and you'll
be fine, right and like and and that's kind of
what the funny part is is it's like people look
at it and go, yeah, you need you know, you
need the Josh Allen archtype. It's like, well, there's one
Josh Allen arch type. Like there's not other players that

(08:28):
do what Josh Allen does, and so how do you
get that archtype? Like how do you get a player
of that nature and and make sure that he stays
healthy for a full season and in a career and
things of that nature. And so you know, that's the
interesting portion of it. Over the next you know, they're

(08:51):
they're in game eight, they're basically midway through the season,
nine games, right, Like how does that play out? And
and it starts this week, like you said, because they're
going up against a team that is incredibly successful in
terms of defense. They're fifth in points against, their eleventh

(09:14):
in yards against. They they are not great against the past.
They're good against the past. They're not great against the pass,
but they do have, you know, the third most interceptions
in the NFL. But they are unbelievable against the run,

(09:35):
second on the season in yards per game, first on
the season in yards per attempt against the run. And
they're coming off a game where they had literally their
worst rushing defensive game of the season. And hohm, they

(09:55):
won thirty eight fourteen. Yeah, in a very non competitive game.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
And yes, and then you look at the and I
said this with Cole on the other show. We all
wondered why the Seahawks made the move from Geno Smith
to Sam Donald, and we thought that at best this
was a lateral move for somebody who's younger. But boy,

(10:31):
on both ends of those decisions to trade Geno Smith
and then sign Sam Donald, that's worked out wonderfully on
both ends because Gino has been far from impressive this year,
granted he's on a garbage Raiders team, and Sam Donald
has only as good as he was last year, he's

(10:55):
even better this year, which is incredible. He is incredible
in twenty twenty four. In twenty twenty five, he leads
the NFL in yards per attempt at nine point six.
He's only been sacked nine times. He's only been hit. Here,
here's the thing. Jacoby Prissett's been hit thirty five times

(11:15):
in three games. Sam Donald's been hit eighteen times all season.
And we that's a single game for oh my gosh,
nearly nearly. And this was a team whose offensive line
was believed to be the worst in the division and

(11:36):
the NFL. Right and Sam Donald is playing very well,
like Sam Donald is playing at the level right now
that we all expected from Sam Donald when he came
into the league. It just took him bouncing around long

(11:56):
enough to do it. And he's really like he's completing
seventy percent of his passes. He's got sixteen touchdowns, he
only has five interceptions in eight games. You know, the
yards per tempt leads the NFL, the yards per catch
leads the NFL. He has the NFL's number one receiver

(12:20):
in terms of yardage. He's being protected, he's not turning
the ball over. This is franchise quarterback play, and they
got him on a great deal and they might they
Now they look like this safe Seahawks team looks like
a super Bowl contender right now, and it's.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
Very Carson Palmer ask, right, like what he's doing. You
look at it, you mentioned it. You know, number numbers wise,
he's he's number four in passing yards, number five in
passing touchdowns, but he's thrown the tenth most interceptions in
the enough Well, so it's it's he's one of those guys,

(13:04):
right that that despite you know, having a great complecent percentage,
it's those it's those vertical throws, right, Like, that's what
the problem is. But you look at it and and
it's very again, it reminds me of Balmer with the Cardinals.
You know, you've got games where it's four touchdowns to

(13:27):
one interception and you're like, okays, right, it's one interception.
Because now it's almost like, you know, if you throw
an interception, it's like, oh, it's a bad thing. It's
like okay, well yeah, definitely, it's not great to throw
an interception. But there's also you know, places in time
where it doesn't kill you, right, Like we're being aggressive

(13:50):
in certain spots is not a negative. And you know,
so what Darnold's done this year and since we last
chatted about him before before the game, I mean, you
look at his his game log this year, right, it's
you know, he threw he had a very you know,
not mediocre, but very you know, kind of ho hum

(14:13):
type of game against the Cardinals, right eighteen for twenty six,
two hundred and forty two yards, a touchdown, on interceptions,
ran the ball three times for thirteen yards or sorry,
ran the bout one time for twenty four yards. Like
he was sacked the most times he's been sacked all years,
three for thirteen and you know, we all know what

(14:35):
happened at the end of the game and the reality
of how it all went down and things of that nature.
But you know, now you look at it and since
that game, you know, they lost to Tampa in a
shootout and he threw for three hundred and forty one
yards and four touchdowns. You know, he since the card game,

(15:00):
he's thrown for eleven touchdowns and three interceptions. Because again,
he doesn't care like he's going to push the ball
down the field. He's thrown, he's thrown for almost twelve
hundred yards in those games. And and here's the crazy thing, Jess.

(15:20):
You know, we talked about kind of the Jacobi effect
on the offense and how much more they're throwing the ball.
The most he threw the ball was in that loss
to Tampa, and obviously that was his most yards too,
but the most he threw the ball was in that
loss to Tampa three hundred or sorry, thirty four passing
attempts in that game, thirty four. So the offense that

(15:44):
he's kind of wielding is kind of what you and
I had hoped or expected it to look like with
Kyler Murray, right, like a lot of a lot of running,
a lot of play action, a lot of ability to
push the ball to different levels. Now we've seen that

(16:04):
with Jacoby. You know, six touchdowns, one interception in his
three games. Uh just you know, just over eight hundred
yards passing in those in those games, Like he's having
a lot of success. But you look at it, forty
four teps, thirty six stemps the last game thirty one attempts.

(16:25):
Was was more of the Sam Donald type, right, But
the way Donald's doing it is just so it's just
so low profile and kind of low key, right, something
you just don't see very often. I mean you look
at overall the leaders this year in terms of you know,

(16:47):
passing and things of that nature, right, and and he's
he's up there. You know, we talked about it. He's
he's seventh overall in passing yardage, Jess, he's twenty fourth
in passing attempts. You know, you look at you look
at the guys at the top, right, Daniel Jones throwing

(17:09):
the ball to hundred ninety three times. Then the next
three guys have all thrown the ball over three hundred times.
Then you've got Drake May at two fifty five, Matthew
Stafford at two seventy four. Sam Darnold's at two hundred
and sixteen, two hundred and sixteen. And so that's you know,

(17:29):
that's the thing with this is that it's just what
he's done this year has been really impressive, just in
terms of a high success rate, like you said that
yards per attempt, to net yards per attempt, the yards
per catch, his first you know in the NFL, his

(17:51):
quarterback ratings, you know, third in the NFL. It's just
and like you said, the big one, like the maybe
the biggest one is that sack number right, and quarterbacks
that play. You know, we're not going to go off
of non starters. But it's Donald and bow Nicks. That's it.

(18:15):
I mean. And and when we came into this year
you mentioned it, everybody goes, oh, yeah, Broncos have a great,
great offensive line. Nobody was saying that about.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Oh no, nobody. We were all saying, well, good luck,
Sam Darnald. You know, you lose your weapons, you'll lose
your offensive line. Oh, the offensive line is great.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Jackson Smith and Jigma is the best receiver in football
right now. And and and here's the thing about Jackson
Smith and Jigma, who leads the NFL in yards, is
that while he's got fifty eight catches, it's not like
they're spamming him with like he he's got nine and

(19:02):
forty eight yards while averaging over sixteen yards a catch.
He's his his year. Like The Cardinals held him to
his worst game in Week four, and he still managed
to have a thirty six yard catch and he had
no he had no receiving yards in the first half
of that game. He ended up with seventy nine in

(19:22):
the second half and the thirty six yarder that was
the backbreaker that set up their their game winning field goal.
But he hasn't had like he's had. He hasn't hit
ten catches in any game, but he's had exactly eight
catches and over one hundred and twenty yards for three
four straight weeks. He's just he's you know the Ohio

(19:46):
State receivers. He has been the gal of those guys.
You know Chris A. Lobby, Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison, and
you know Smith Jackson Smith the jig was that guy.
He is the alpha, and we wondered if he could
handle being the number one in Seattle. He's that guy.

(20:08):
He's great. He's getting open and Sam Donald's getting him
the ball and he's able to get yards after the catch,
which is even better. And so this is an offense
that's going to be very hard for the Cardinals to defend.
One and two you go on the other side of
the ball. Defensively, they do so many things well, and

(20:30):
the Cardinals will already be one dimensional because this is
an elite run stopping squad that is going as a
Cardinals team that ran the ball well against Dallas, but
when your running backs are a Mario de Mercado and
Bam Knight. That's not a rushing attack that people are

(20:50):
going to fear. And so, you know, it's different if
you've got James Connor and Trey Benson as your runners
and so you but you can't count on De Mercado
and and Night to produce at a high level. Maybe
they'll be effective enough, but they're they're gonna struggle against

(21:14):
this rush defense. And it's a defensive line that is
that is a problem because we saw what Leonard Williams
did last year. Byron Murphy, the second their second year
defensive tackle, looks like a stud this year. He's got
five sacks so far this year coming from the interior

(21:37):
in Nuosu. Nuosu has five and a half sacks. A
guy that's been more or less kind of a journeyman
as a solid but not great player is getting sack production.
This defensive line is significantly better. They just haven't been

(22:01):
as great about stopping the pass, even though they do
take the ball away quite well. Ernest Jones three interceptions,
one of those came against the Cardinals, got Kobe Bryant
with the park picks Darren Kendrick. They've they've intercepted nine
passes this year in there in their eight games, and
they have and and they they get their hands on

(22:23):
the ball one, two, three, four, five, six. Seven different
players have at least four pass breakups.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
So yeah, it's like the opposite of playing against the Cowboys, right.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Well, yeah, the Cowboys who don't cover well, don't get
their hands on balls and don't tackle. Well, that's right.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
Well, and and you know you mentioned it, but Ernest
Jones is playing at like a and again, this is
definitely hyperboles. So I don't don't think I'm like crazy,
but he's playing at like a Bobby Wagner level, right,
Like it's crazy to see how well he's playing. Uh,
you know, you talked about the journeyman situation, and I

(23:03):
know that's not who we're mentioning, but like, it's just
it's crazy that that that dude is having that much
success and he had that success with the Rams, and
the Rams are like, nah, we're good man.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Like yeah, Ernest jerones path to the Seahawks was strange
because he was super productive for the Rams and the
Rams are like, eh, okay, we'll trade to the Titans,
even though they didn't really have brought linebackers to like
replace him, and then Titans were like, hmm nah. And

(23:36):
then when he goes to Seattle, they go from being
a terrible want run defending team to immediately one of
the best, and that has continued this season.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
So yeah, and it goes back to the conversations. You know,
you and I have discussed this a thousand times, and
not to make this too cardinal centric, like I always
find a way to do, but you know, you look
at it, Darion Kendrick, their their second third Oh no, sorry,

(24:07):
Ernest Jones. Sorry I was looking at the wrong one.
Drake Thomas, Sorry, sorry Drake Thomas. There you know, third
leading tackler on the season was a I dropped a
free agent, Tyrese Knight. Their second leading tackler on the
season was a fourth round pick last year. And then

(24:31):
you know, obviously Jones and and you know again you
mentioned it. He was a third round pick by the
Rams and ends up in in Tennessee. Doesn't work in Tennessee,
so they trade him to Seattle and like rejuvenates his career.
And he was a freak. I mean, nobody questioned the

(24:51):
abilities with with Los Angeles, but he's just he's just
helped turn that defense into something special. And it goes
back to the old conversation about you know, investing and
off the ball linebackers like one of the best defenses

(25:14):
in the NFL. I mean, basically spent money on you
and me at the linebacker position, and they're getting they're
reaping the bed. And those guys are twenty six, twenty
five and twenty five, like, they're young, and you look
at their you know, you look at their their defense
as a whole, right, you know, and outside of Leonard
Williams and obviously DeMarcus Lawrence, who's ancient, but outside of

(25:39):
Leonard Williams, their production is is just from young, hungry, athletic,
you know, talented dudes. And I think, you know, you

(26:01):
just look at what this team is and and a
lot of Cardinals fans are like, oh that, you know,
the Cardinals will be better than them. Mike McDonald, you know,
you mentioned Sam Donald. Mike McDonald is really everything the
Cardinals fans had hoped Jonathan Gannon would be.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Right, Yeah, yep, that's pretty much it. The defensive coordinator
from a great other team. He's he's done exactly what
we wanted Ganon to do. And and by the way, honestly,
the Seahawks have Gannon's number because they are oh for

(26:38):
over five against Seattle since Gannon took over.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
Well, and by the way, I think about this just too.
It's not like he walked into an easy situation. He
walked in to taking over for a legendary beloved coach

(27:02):
and and just I mean, and all he did was
coming off of nine and eight season, you know, it
wasn't like the Seahawks were, you know, three and fourteen,
coming off of nine and eight season. And all he
does is goes and wins ten games the first year
and just misses the playoffs, right, And then this year

(27:25):
they're six and two, tied for first in the NFC West,
have the fifth best scoring offense and fifth best scoring
defense in football, and they look like, I mean, the
before the injury obviously, they literally just made the Commanders

(27:53):
and Jade Daniels and Cliff Kingsbury look foolish, I mean,
just come like they had no idea what to do
or how to play. And and that is, you know,
a testament to what McDonald brought to this organization and
what they've been able to do with with their GM

(28:14):
and you know, that's that'll be the thing to watch
over the next couple of years because they're just I mean,
one of the big questions we have is who's the
guy that's going to put them in the Cardinals this

(28:36):
is in a position to compete with this team.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
Well, I remember next on the res of Seret podcast,
mist Our Cardinals Stock on the Web. Let's talk about
the game, specifically matchups that we're looking for keys for
the Cardinals to maybe win this game that's coming to
next on Red we're back on the Rise of Secret
podcast itst Our Cardinals stock on the web talking to
Cardinals Seahawks. Now, match up's keys? What are we looking

(29:02):
forward to? And and you know, I think the Cardinals
I guess number one. They they have to play from ahead.
They they did that successfully. They did that successfully last week. Honestly,
That's that's been the that's been the thing that's been

(29:23):
good the most about having Jacoby Brissette is that as
the backup and and when Colt McCoy was in that situation,
they did well too. He hasn't fallen behind. They've led
early and they faded twice and then against Dallas they

(29:46):
even though they started fading, it didn't matter. And so
it continues to need to be the case where they
need to avoid being behind. And if there's one team
that has given the Cardinals fits in that sense, Seattle's
the one that keeps the Cardinals from starting well and

(30:09):
that usually and that often spirals into nineteen to nine
type games.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
Yeah, and that's the biggest thing with this game. And
like you said, to have a chance this game, there's
there's really two things, and it's it's tough to explain,
but it's something that you and I kind of understand,
and it's that you have to be able to control
that rushing attack by the Seahawks. You mentioned it. They're

(30:43):
only twenty second in the yards, the thirty first in
the archs per attempt. As good as they are throwing
the football and keeping Sam Arnold protected, they're that bad
running the ball, right. But here's the deal, man, they
don't care. They just don't care. They they have the

(31:03):
eighth most rushing attempts in the NFL and their running
game averages three point seven yards per carry. Jess. And
so you mentioned it tight games. They if you can
get it to a tight game, they can. They can

(31:26):
make mistakes. We saw it against San Francisco. Hell, we
saw it against the Cardinals. The Cardinals just out mistake
them in the end, right, we saw it against Tampa Bay.
Something that went along with those games turnovers. Again, you
look at those games and what happens. You get games
where you know, Sam Darnold played extremely well, but he

(31:51):
turned the ball over. He had a fumble loss in
that game, Jackson Smith and jag but I had a
fumble loss in the first game of the season. And
then their loss to the forty nine ers. You know,
against Tampa Bay again, four touchdowns, one interception. I don't
think anybody would complain about that. But then you had

(32:12):
a Jalen Milroe who came in and had one play
and fumbled on a single play. Two turnovers in both
their losses. You know, So how do you beat them? Well,
forced two turnovers definitely one of the best ways to
go about it, right, But force them, force them to

(32:34):
have to throw the ball. And I know that sounds
counterintuitive because they're so good at it, but again, just
look at the numbers. They want to run the ball.
They're not good at it, but they want to. They're
eighth and rushing attempts, they're thirtieth and passing attempts. They
don't care about about balance or anything like that. They

(32:55):
want to they want to pound the wrong man. That's
their thing. And you have to take advantage of their turnovers.
They It's almost odd, Jess that this team is six
and two, because as good as they are forcing turnovers,

(33:18):
they're minus. They're they're plus or sorry, they're minus three
on the season. In the turnover battle, Uh, you look
at it against Tampa Bay. They lost that game, right,
turn the ball over twice. No turnovers against by the Bucks.
In their in their win against the Texans, they turn
the ball over four times. They only force one turnover.

(33:41):
Like their ability to shoot themselves in the foot and
get out of it is actually kind of crazy. And
so that's something that we have to watch because the
other thing is it may not matter this week if
Will Johnson can't go.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
Yeah, that's I'm very worried about that. And add to that,
they just added Rashichha heat to that group. When I
saw the trade, it made me swear, I'm like, of
all the think, I'm thinking Quentin Williams of the Cowboys,
cool whatever, sauce Gardener to the cult Okay Rashija heat

(34:27):
and that speed to Seattle that and then this week
and the fact that there's not gonna be much of
a learning curve because he played in Koubiak's Oz the
Clinton Kubiak's offense last year. So you now have jackon
Smith Jigma who's just been unstoppable, and you add elite

(34:49):
speed on the other side and Cooper Cup on top
of that. That is that is going to be tough.
And to do that when it doesn't look like Max
Melton's going to be back from the concussion because he
didn't practice on Thursday, which means, yeah, I don't think
there's a way for Earth. He needed to be ment
He needed at least to be limited on Thursday to

(35:11):
be able to be on track to to be able
to play on Sunday. And so it looks like they're
going to be without Max. They're probably going to be
without will And so you've got that group of receivers
and it's gonna be Garrett Williams and then the other
guys Kee Troll Clark and Denzel Burke.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
So so the pass rush is gonna have to, you know,
do their thing again. They're gonna have to do a
good job with that. And and you know, again you
you want to force them, as unsuccessful as they are,
you want to force them to have to drop back
more so you can get after Sam Darnold so you
can create turnovers.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Now, the other matchup that because he has been Cardinals killer,
is Leonard Williams. The last three games that he's played
against the Cardinals, they have been without will Hernandez. And
while the metrics say that will Hernandez is playing poorly,

(36:17):
even worse than Isaia Adams was, the eye test shows
that the offense looks so much better when he's in
the lineup. And you know, we've been talking about this,
this fact that you know, we got a half, not
almost a half of that offensive line with Will Hernandez,

(36:37):
with Kyler Murray. What do they do? They scored three
touchdowns and four possessions against Tennessee. When he came out,
they didn't score again. And then he's been back in
the lineup those last three games, what have they done?
Scored three, twenty seven, twenty three, and twenty seven points offensively.
While the metrics look bad, clearly, Ill one, I'm like,

(37:01):
I've got my eyes on will Hernandez versus Leonard Williams. Now, granted,
they've got Byron Murphy to worry about too and Jaron Reid,
so they've got a very good defensive line overall. But
the game wrecking nature that Leonard Williams's have been on
against the Cardinals maybe, And well, one thing that we

(37:24):
do know is the fact that that that Hernandez is
he's got the size. He's a bigger lineman than Isa
Adams or Tristan Cologne. So maybe that by in and
of itself is enough. But that's one of the matchups
I'm paying attention.

Speaker 5 (37:38):
To, oh one d percent. And you mentioned the corners
and the situation there and how they're going to be
able to deal with that, right, So one of the
other things that you have to look at in this
game is can they control can they control Kenneth Walker. So,

(38:01):
you know, against the Cardinals, again, he didn't have a
great game by any means, but he finished with one
hundred and ten yards from scrimmage on twenty touches, so
over five yards per touch. Jess, that was his third
best game of the year, and that's you know, kind

(38:23):
of what the issue becomes with the Cardinals is is
you know, they do a good enough job, but they
don't do a great job on teams. And then you
know the other one, obviously Zach Scharbernee. They bottled him
up twelve touches or sorry, fourteen touches for forty four

(38:45):
yards three yards per touch, one of his worst games
of the year.

Speaker 4 (38:53):
He's been interesting because he's only average two point nine. Yeah,
but they they also give him all the goal line situations.

Speaker 5 (39:01):
They do, and so that's the thing. So you look
at it and and how do they you know, how
do they control those guys. Are they going to be
able to really you know, bear down in the in
the red zone where they like to try to get
those guys involved because this, you know, this run defense

(39:24):
looked really good. What's the status on Mac do we know? Yet?

Speaker 4 (39:31):
He didn't practice two days in a row, so.

Speaker 5 (39:34):
Probably you know, And so that's I mean, that's the
hard part, man. And you've got just a you're gonna
it's almost like one of those games. And obviously you
never want to lose in the NFL, and you never
you never feel bad about winning in the NFL because
it like that Cowboys game is like almost one of
those games where it's like you won the battle, but

(39:56):
maybe lost the war. And obviously if they come out
and play well and and beat Seattle, which we both
are hopeful that they can do, you know, you look
at it from that perspective and it's like, hey, who cares.
But you know, I text you guys literally after the
last play happened. I'm like, man, I hope Will Johnson
didn't get hurt on that meaningless play. Like like, don't

(40:20):
get me wrong, you want those guys to care like that.
You want those guys to go out there and make
plays on the ball like that. That's what you want,
especially from your young, hungry leaders. But but like the
way he got way leg whipped by his you know,
friendly fire, he was like, ah, crap, right, really again, man,

(40:41):
like come on, and and you know it's not it's
not Will's fault by any means. It's just it's one
of those things that you look at and you just go,
come on, can this guy not catch a break? And
so you know, the overall thought process is just that.
And this group, if they are as banged up going

(41:05):
into the game as they appear to be, get enough
consistent plays and stops to win the game. And and
for all the huffing and puffin about the last one,
you know, this offense gave the defense and special teams

(41:28):
a chance at the end and they blew it. So
now you go, okay, well, how's this one going to look?
What's this one going to look like? And can't it
get Can they do enough to win this game? That's
I mean, that's the genuine question with this because it's
just such a tough matchup with with the injury situation

(41:51):
and what they're going through right now.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Will be interested as well in how Marv plays because
it was against Seattle where it was, oh my gosh,
he's a bust to oh he broke out. Uh so
whoever is tasked with covering him, especially the the first

(42:18):
half he had against the Dallas against Dallas, like, can
we get a full game from him? Is it going
to be? You know, we talk about the targets. He
got targeted eight times in the first half he had
He'd only been targeted a total of eight games by
Jacoby in the previous two games. And so that that
that is one other matchup that I'm looking for and

(42:40):
with that coming to next time, the recip here with
podcast Best Are Cardinal's Talk in the Web. Let's move
on to it's your favorite part of the show, everyone,
the picks, the predictions and the prop bets. That's coming
to next in resumes Hered, You're back on the res
of here podcast Best Our Cardinal's Stock and the Web
Talk and Cardinals Seahawks Week ten in Seattle. We're going
to make our predictions, We're going to talk prop bets.

(43:02):
And you know, I got a chance to look over
some of those earlier as I was talking about as
you will hear some of the conversation that I had
with Cole Musgrove on the other episode from the week. So, Seth,
how do you see that? How do you see this
game going?

Speaker 5 (43:18):
You know, this is a tough one, man, you look
at it. Obviously it's on the road. It's interesting that
Seattle's kind of been worse at home this year, right, Like,
so you know, both their losses are at home, which
is unusual, right, twelfth Man crap and all that stuff.

(43:43):
But the way that they've kind of played the last
three weeks over three hundred yards of offense in every
game under three hundred yards of offense and every game
for their opponents and just it it looks like they're

(44:03):
hitting their stride at the right time. You know, you
go back to that first Cardinals game. They're coming off
a forty four to thirteen beat down of the New
Orleans Saints, but it wasn't as impressive as that number was.
You know, they only had three hundred and twenty yards
of offense to two hundred and eighty four for the
Saints in this game against Washington right and again this

(44:27):
was with a healthy returned Jadeen Daniels until the end,
they put up four hundred and eighteen yards of offense
and held that Commander's team to two hundred and ninety
yards of offense. Like their defense, they Jane Daniels had

(44:50):
one hundred and thirty three you know net passing yards
in the game. Is Jacoby Pressett a better thrower of
the football than jade Daniels, Yes, I think so. That
being said, six and a half on the road, it
just feels like a type of game that's going to

(45:11):
be really tough for the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (45:14):
To win thee It feels like a kryptonite game for
Furbri said for a number of reasons and and the spread.
It happened this afternoon on BETMGM. It's all the way.
They added on a half point, so it's now a
seven point spread for Seattle. And in terms of who's

(45:37):
gonna win, ninety three percent of the handle is backing
the Seahawks. Not that there's much value for that, but
the interesting one for me is that seventy eight percent
have the over forty five. And if there's anything that
we've noticed about Cardinals Seahawks game, especially in Seattle, they

(46:03):
often are trudgy, sloshy, slow, low scoring games. And considering
this is a this is a Seahawks team that allows
less than nineteen points a game, that seems like it's

(46:24):
I don't know why everyone is so gung ho about
the over.

Speaker 5 (46:29):
I think it's because they think the Seahawks are going
to put in a point. Man, I really do you know?
We covered it. If if the Cardinals are at full
health in the secondary, forty four and a half seems
like a good number, right, you know, a twenty seven seventeen,
twenty four to twenty type of game, right like, right

(46:51):
in that range. But if Matt's meltin and Will Johnson
on top of you know, like, like you mentioned Mac Jones,
key Trull Clark is limited. He'll probably end up having
to play it and play, but you know, key truck
Clark is limited. Buddha was added to the list this

(47:17):
week with a Hams like and I get it. They're
they're banged up to right there, They've got some Josh
job was in concussion protocol. He's played extremely well for
them this year, Cooper Cup. I know it might not
sound like a lot, but he's you know, been their
best blocking wide receiver and he does a great job
with that. It really helps in the run game. Uh,

(47:41):
you know, to their tight ends are banged up. Arroyo
was full today, but AJ Barner is banged up. And
then Ernest Jones was was limited. I don't think it
matters with him. I think he's a psychopath and he's
gonna play. And I mean that is a compliment, but like, uh,
you know, you look at it like I think I

(48:01):
think the Sharks are going dude, if if will Max
and Mac are healthy, Yeah, I think I think forty
four and a half is a good line. I think
without it, it's a it's a tough line. I think,
like you said that it's loggy. Whenever they play Seattle,

(48:23):
it's ugly. There's not a lot of there's not a
lot of fun things to enjoy about watching these games.
Let's be completely honest. It's supposed to be you know, sixty,
no rain, just sixty, you know. So it's good conditions

(48:46):
for a bad night for the Cardinals or bad afternoon
for the Cardinals. And I don't think that they're gonna
get you know, blown out by any means. But I
think this is one of those ones where you see
it like thirty four to twenty.

Speaker 4 (49:01):
That's kind of that's kind of how I see it going.
But I think the Cardinals are going to struggle more offensively,
So I think it's going to be thirty one thirteen
and then suddenly Jacoby's not nearly so magic. But mostly
mostly it'll be Seattle just having its way offensively with

(49:26):
the Cardinals defense.

Speaker 5 (49:28):
Well, and that's the thing too, right, like just if
they can't if the Cardinals can't run the ball, and
by the way, they don't run the ball well outside
of the Dallas game anyways, And now and now you're
facing one of the best, if not the best rush
defenses in the NFL. And so now you're asking Jakobe
to throw the ball. They get after the quarterback at
extremely great rate. They force a lot of turnal Like

(49:54):
it's just a like you said, it's kind of a
recipe for disaster in this game. But we also were
not overly excited to see the offense play against or sorry,
the defense play against the Dallas offense. We were excited

(50:15):
about the offense to play against the Dallas defense. But
and we were wrong. I mean, I mean, they did
a good enough job. They got some help from the Cowboys,
as we know, and and they had a good enough game.
Man where where this week? Maybe maybe they surprise us again, right, Like,

(50:36):
maybe they come out play well enough, surprise us again.

Speaker 4 (50:40):
But how many times are they going to do that well?

Speaker 5 (50:44):
And honestly, again it's my concern this game is the
is the defense Like I don't and I think if
the defense is getting bludgeoned in this one, it becomes
really hard for the offense to keep pace.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
Yeah I believe that. Uh so you've got them what
what you said, thirty four to twenty, I've got thirty
one thirteen.

Speaker 5 (51:15):
Let's look, so you're just I mean so so to
just do not play the under like if if we're
within two points, don't play it, like.

Speaker 4 (51:24):
Just leave just leave it alone, leave it alone. But yeah,
but you know, the lots of people are well the
BETMGM at least based on the number of bets that
went backing the Cowboys, they made a lot of money.
They made a lot of money on Monday Night. Props

(51:48):
props for this game. So these are these they let's
look at the receiving props that I think the first
thing we want to do is look at Jackson Smith
and Jake. But he's got the line of seven and
a half. He's had eight catches and four straight games
and eight or more in six of eight. But the

(52:11):
projected total for him is seven and a half. You
get plus odds on on that. But the Cardinals held
him to the four catches, and with the addition of
Shaheed he might not get as many targets, and so

(52:32):
I don't love that one as much. The prop I like,
like two of them is Shahed over three and a
half catches for plus one twenty five and then Marvet
over four and a half plus one fifteen. If if
last week, if Monday's game was any if we can
take anything from that, maybe they're going to make a

(52:54):
concerted effort once again to get him the ball and
to be at five catches, to get five catches to
get plus odds. I like that. Also, also both Zay
Jones didn't do anything, but Elijah Higgins again at one

(53:16):
and a half catches over one and a half catches
is plus one forty five. And so I like that
one because all it takes is two catches and you've
got great value.

Speaker 5 (53:27):
Yeah, the receiving props in this one are probably the
way to go. By the way we've been doing this
a while. Can you remember the last time a Cardinals
receiver or opponent was ninety four and a half for
their over under on receiving yards, Like that is just
such a wild number, and for good reason, right, Like

(53:49):
he's been playing insane ball this year.

Speaker 4 (53:52):
He's had over one hundred and twenty yards in four
straight games. So but yeah, that is that is a
high number.

Speaker 5 (54:00):
Two things I like Rashid Shahid thirty plus yard reception
plus two forty on Vandel, Michael Wilson thirty plus yard
reception plus three twenty on on FanDuel as well. Those
are those are two passing ones that I like on
top of the things that Jess has already talked about.
Interesting Jess, Jacoby Brissett the lowest interception percentage ever first

(54:28):
starter minus one eighteen to throw an interception in this game.
Sam Arnold, who has been good, not great taking care
of the ball this year, plus one a weight to
throw an interception in this game. And I don't necessarily

(54:48):
think that they're wrong. I'm not like expecting Jacoby to
go bonkers the other way to throw the four picks, right,
But I do think this is a game with how
much how many hits these taken, the way the game
could be unfolding that you see an interception in this one.

(55:12):
So I would take that the passing touchdowns over two
passing touchdowns for Jacoby. I would also take it's over
one and a half plus one thirty four. I like
that number. Like I said, I think they I think
they get you know, two to three touchdowns in this game.

Speaker 4 (55:31):
So and for me, I'm think saying that they're going
to struggle. So I am staying far clear of that.
Although I do like Chad Ryland's even money plus one
hundred to go over one and a half field goals
for that and then therefore base if if they score

(55:56):
the thirteen points like I predict is my prediction, then
all also over six and a half kicking points at
even money plus one Hunter for Rland also makes a
little sense. Now for my thirty one for over two

(56:18):
and a half extra points, well, if I've got him
scoring thirty one, that's probably four touchdowns, so I'm gonna
avoid that the rushing. The rushing props are interesting because
let me just find the rushing yuards also looking at attempts,

(56:39):
these feel hard to bet to me. Fifty one and
a half or ken Walker forty three and a half
for charbon A, thirty three and a half for De Mercado,
thirty two and a half for Bam Knight, Jacoby Prissette
over thirteen and a half. That one is. That one
is tempting. Although Sam Darnold over four and a half.

(57:04):
I think that one is. It's not plus odds, it's
only minus one twenty, But that would be an easy
one to make.

Speaker 5 (57:12):
I think, yeah, and you look at the scoring props
in general, it's this is a tough week.

Speaker 4 (57:24):
You know.

Speaker 5 (57:24):
You and I both think that four touchdowns is probably
where the Seahawks will be and you have them at
like one maybe two, and I have them at two
maybe three for the Cardinals. And so you know the
chalky plays of Jackson Smith and Jigba Zach Sharboney, you

(57:48):
know Kenneth Walker for the Seahawks. Those don't really I
don't think the value is good McBride for the Cardinals
of plus one fifty Harrison plus one eighty again not
great value. So the two kind of I don't want
to say long shots, because they're not long shots by
any means, but the two I'm interested in. Rashid Shaheed

(58:09):
going back to Rashid plus two ten as a touch
anytime touchdown score, but just plus eleven hundred as the
first touchdown score. Can you imagine that they're trying to
get him involved early and then and then Jacoby plus
six hundred any time touchdown score. I know, I know
he's only scored one rushing touchdown the last four years.

(58:30):
I get it. However, get that big body movement right
if they get down in that area again, plus six
hundred on that one. So those two, those two are
really interesting to me from an anytime touchdown and then
maybe a sprinkle on shihed at first touch on.

Speaker 4 (58:47):
Score sounds good, anything else of notes that you.

Speaker 5 (58:53):
Like, No, man, I hate that this sounds so doom
and gloom after what was obviously, you know, a really
impressive when on Monday night. But this is one of
those games that you just look at and the you
just don't find or don't love the path that it's

(59:19):
going to take to get there, right, and you wonder
where the stops are going to come from for this
this team. And that's that's the question. I think both
of us have more than anything else, right, Like, there's
not this isn't a negative, it's just kind of a

(59:39):
realistic thing of like where do the stops come from
for this group?

Speaker 4 (59:47):
Yeah, that's that's gonna be a rough one. And with
that we will wrap up this edition of The Rise
of to your podcasts Our Cardinals Talk on the Web.
Cardinals play Sunday afternoon two five pm Arizona time, four
five Eastern. We get to see if the Jacoby magic
keeps going, if the vibes will continue to be positive,

people are still happy just because it's not Kyler and
people are done, who knows Until then. We'll be back

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
