I don't know any of the loreof the Teen Titans franchise. I actually
liked this movie. I had.I had a hell of a time watching
this. I had a blast.Yeah, I was telling Hank before.
But I started this movie at work. Then I had a pause it and
I and then I watched like Istarted watching about fifteen minutes at work,
about thirty minutes at the airport,and then about the other forty five minutes

on the plane. I felt likeI got a nice viewing experience each time.
I loved caging it and I thoughtit was pretty funny. I mean,
it wasn't good. It wasn't thatgood, but it's a kids movie,
and I thought for the most partit was pretty funny. So I'm
integrated on that curve. Yeah,yeah, I think I think it'd be
hard to judge this in our normalcurve. As you said, AJ,

like self aware movies that breaks thefourth wall, but does it correctly,

lot of the jokes really just onthe nose funny. Made me laugh.
It was a good time. Eveneven the last line of the movie I
thought was was hilarious. Oh yeah, when he screams at the camera to
ask your parents. And the moviewas genuinely funny. And that's I think

all of us are probably most surprisedby that. I also had a great
time watching this movie. I watchedit just a few hours ago. I
watched it. I watched it likethat's earlier here, So I watched it
like this morning, and like itwas a perfect like wake up like the
song in the morning. It's likean hour twenty minutes, which is great.
Uh, it's very funny. Theythey had they had jokes that made

me actually laugh. Uh. Youknow. And I watched the Team Titans
show that we grew up with theoriginal show when I was a kid,
and I love that show. Idon't really get it's a lot darker,
it's a lot more mature. Yeah, I mean it's still goofy and funny,
but like even I mean even likethe animation style of this and the
I guess the drawing style, likethey're all way shorter and crunched in and

goofy and silly, whereas the originalone is a bit more I think,
more four teenagers rather than this seemsto be more geared for like maybe up
to like twelve. I'm pretty suremy one of my nephews who's eight,
watches Teen Titans. Go. Okay, I think that's kind of the demographic.

a parent, I wrote my kidto see this in the theater, I
would also have a great time.Yeah, And that's actually what most of
the reviews on IMDb say as well. It's like, you know, my
kids love this and I actually gota lot of laughs out of it,
because there are kids movies that arejust impossible to watch us. I mean
we've seen this one of them.Yeah, and Bully Yeah yeah. G

Well, I feel like all ofthe animated movies specifically that we've watched

talk about it. Yeah, exactly, play Superman and he says the word
goofsters twice, which is great,which is so good. What more do

to do the death of Superman livesand we we just have never done it.
And I kind of wish we havedone this previously, done that previously,
because you know, obviously there's somuch history behind the fact that Kate
wanted to play Superman and the wholemovie was built for him to play Superman

and it just never happened. Andit was clear in this movie where I
felt like the ample to an extentand well not g force, but some
maybe even the crews too, willsay watched. But some animated movies,
you know, people come in andthey just do their lines and then they
leave. And especially in a bigrole like this, you could kind of

tell Jimmy Kimmel did that as asBatman, but age it felt like really
wanted to give his all into theselines, which I thought was really fun.
Yeah, out of his twenty lines, he did them. Yeah,
shut up, And you can tell, like exactly like you're saying, he
put the work in, you know, and like they gave him this little
bit, but he still took inthe character as because like in this world,
like all the main you know,Superman, a wonder Woman and Batman

and all them, they're like they'reall everyone's just a movie star. Yeah,
it's really just a big rip It'slike a big rip on like DC
Warner Brothers movies, which was fascinatingbecause it's made by them, and especially
I mean they rip on Batman versusSuperman. They make fun of the Green
Lantern like all of it, whichwas really refreshing and not and then like,

yeah, you know, it wasn'tvery good, but I gotta cameos
and they're like, don't you knowthis is a DC movie And he's like,
oh, you gotta go. Whenhe leaves it, then he comes
back, he's like, I justcan't stay away from the caveos. It's

You have like they're constantly like they'relike, aren't you guys the Guardians of
the Galaxy, and like, Nope, that's a different realm. You know,
a lot of Marvel jokes, eventhe beginning, when you splike through
the comic book pages and you thinkthey're going a DC Marvel thing, but
you get Michael Bolton as a asa key tar playing tiger and he doesn't

aesome his So that happens pretty earlyon in the movie. And in like
the beginning action sequence, is youkind of they start like building the framework,
or at least for someone who doesn'twatch a lot of kids stuff,
you know, Like it was prettyclear that no, I don't believe it

or not. Uh, it's prettyclear that like they were removing like the
magnificant amount of violence. Right Like, I'm an adult, I watched violent
things. I like seeing the bloodin the gore and the explosion, and
like there were quite a few thingswhere like they would cut away, you

know, when the grenade blows up, We're like the guy goes to shoot
his gun and it just kind offalls apart in his hands, you know.
And so I was thinking, like, oh, I guess the whole
movie is gonna kind of be likethis where they don't actually nope, run
over Michael sweet song, you don'teven stop kind of look back, like

yep, we killed him. Whatwas the song? Was it like positive
stuff or upbeat things? It waslike we can do it together, upbeat
song, the bad Lades. Iwas I was laughing out loud at that
part. And the first time theTeen Titans, they're like, oh,
you don't know who we are,and then they just going to this big

rap and the guys just robbing bankafter bank so hard. The music.
They just go to people and sing. They don't actually fight anyone. It's
great. They get on their timetraveling tricycles and just go back in time
and sing and play dumb stuff.It's awesome. And I'm like, I
I it's such a good reflection Ifeel like of kids now or you know,

twenty eighteen eight year olds, likeyou know, like just the music
choice and the words they would use. I don't know, it just it
was like I see where all theselittle gen zers are coming from. Good
to them, yeah, you know. But it wasn't annoying. I thought
it was all really well done.I I don't think anything in the film
that I thought irked me or frustratedto me. I just thought it was
a solid, funny, surprisingly funnymovie. I had something that urked me.

was like, well, where thefuck is this? I went to Apple

just watch dot com and and that'swhere I went yesterday, and the usual
you're pretty good about this stuff inthe second HBO or said Max, Uh,

so I got to go to Maxand it's there, and I'm like,

it's so stupid. But they Iswear they took it off just yesterday,
like it was probably I think itwas on forever. That's I was
gonna tax you. It was onforever the day you wanted to watch it
when they took it off for maintenanceand then they put it back on exactly

Yeah, yeah, I actually havea complaint about Max. I just think
it's a terrible fucking name for hisdreaming. It's the worst. It's the
most recognizable brand, HBO. That'sprime time TV. Everyone knows it,
everyone loves it. It's fucking crazya new streaming service would pay a billion
dollars to have the HBO branding andlike their fucking slogan is like it's the

place to be or something like that. But it used to be Max the
place for HBO. What is that? HBO has never figured it out because

just removing a ton of HBO showsoff of the platform. It's a nightmare.

So I mean, maybe we're watchingour show a special bonus episode. Did
you guys like the Challengers of theUnknown or whatever they were called. Yeah,
that such a good bit. Yeah, and they're just like they get
scenes they're not even known it is. I love when they're trying to get

back in at the end when allheroes are let back in the portal and
they don't make it. That's great. I thought they were going to be
the villains actually in this movie.You know what I fucking loved about this
movie. I sighed a breath ofrelief was they did the time traveling bit.
Then they go back to the present. Uh, everything is fucked up
around them, and you think,oh, that's gonna be the movie.

And they go, oh, thisis a bad idea. They go back
again, stop what they all did, and everything's fine. And that's just
one three minute bit in the movie. I loved. I love the way
that they like they save you know, different people's parents, you know,
they save the waynes they save uh, what's the planet that Superman's from?

Krypton? They save Crypton whatever,and then they just kill Aqua man with
so they threw a six pack sodacan plastic wrapper, runs in the water
and joke him till he dies.So the director of all of these super
hero movies is saying like, ifthere was no other superheroes, that's the

only way I would make a movieabout you. And he's like, oh,
that's it. You have to getrid of all the superheroes. We're
gonna go back in time. Andsomeone is like, well, to kill
the superheroes when they're babies. He'slike, no, obviously, we're just
gonna like remove their tragic uh butor they're tragic origins. So they're they're

they're fixing all the origin stores.But Aquaman's was not. It just there's
nothing you can do because he's alwaysjust gonna be Aquaman. You know,
so so good so could be onland right, because I like the bit
where they take the one out ofthe pool and him and the dolphin are

really far It's like spongebobst uh.It's amazing because there are certain DC properties,
like and I know this is akid movie movie, but DC knows
how to have fun. Like theythere are movies where they have so much
fun, and then for whatever reason, in all of their big proper they
just try to make it the mostserious like bullshit ever and it's just so

not fun. Well there's that solike even like the fact that like this
movie came out twenty eighteen, whichwas like yeah, just in the in
the middle of all of all ofthe culminator like Justice League and One Woman
two and all this stuff, andlike, you know, they I like
the bit that they do where they'reyou know, everyone makes fun of the
Batman versus Superman scene they're like,what's your mom's name? Martha? Martha?

what's your dad's name? I'm startedfighting, and I'm like that was such
a point of like cultural contention,you know, and like so much frustration
with these DC movies and even like, whoever the it must just be completely
separate divisions entirely without any oversight,because they were just ripping left and right

on all this stuff at the sametime that these movies are still being released
and still that annoying, super hyperserious. This is this is the most
fun I've had watching, probably everwatching a DC movie. It's great,
so good. And by the way, speaking of DC movies, the flash,
the Nick Cage caveo and the flashis infuriating to me. I don't

know, Oh you did it well. Nick Cage has a cameo in it,
and it sucks because they're not reallya cameo. It's just him de
aged. In the Superman I readhe was upset about it too, the
way he should have been, becausethey brought him on set and they filmed
him in a Superman costume, soyou would think, like, at least
have him fighting or whatever, orhave him his age, but he it

might as well have been any schmuckin a green you know, in a
in a full green suit, andthey could have just computerized. It was
terrible. So anyway, I feelbad for Cage. I'm glad he got
to play Superman. Yeah. Irecall reading that he said that what ended
up in the Flash, the newEzra Miller Flash movie, was not at
all what he had like filmed andwas told and was there for, and
it was just he was just sortof like, well, that was lame.

It was horrible. That movie washorrible. Yeah, I didn't know
it and seeing it, but uhyeah, it's a shame. Yeah.
So it's fun when you say,and they even had a little national treasure
joke. They like they throw abunch of Krypton and beat up Superman,
like, no, he's a nationaltreasure. Yeah, that's good. So
what is what is Teen Titans?Is? It is? It was Robin

like a little boy sidekick of Batmanand then just became his old thing.
Yeah, because like over the years, you know, like like comic book
uh logic to the best I'll explainit to how I know it too.
It's like time does move forward incomic books, just way slower than in
the real world. Because like likein the comics right now, if you
read Spider Man and it's it's twentytwenty three, holy shit, And if

you read spider Man right now.Crazy. You know, he's not some
kid in high school anymore. He'salso he's past college. He's kind of
just getting past being a young adult. So like they basically age, like
ten years in our real time isprobably going to be like one to two
years of a real life and comic, but give or take not always,

but that's generally the idea. Solike Robin over the years went from being
a little sidekick guy, and there'slike four three or four different Robin characters.
But like you know, he eventuallygrows up and becomes a couple of
different like night Wing I think isone of them, and a few other
things. So he starts to geta little bit older, and then people
who grew up with him want tosee him in more mature stuff. And
this happens with characters all the time. And so you have him now as

a more brooding teenager and he getsa you know, other teen where they
were younger. It's kind of likea young Avengers two sort of situation.
Okay, because I was gonna sayI would assume that he was fighting Cryme
with Batman. He wasn't like eightyears old. Actually, I think he
was like way back. Well,nothing in this world makes it true.

It is aman so yeah, yeahright, but yeah, it's it's just
as little. It's his little team, which like and it is. I
think it is probably the most relatableto like Marvel has the Young Avengers uh
DC as the Teen Titans, andthey go different, Like I know,
there's the TV show they did thatwas a bit more of the brooding,
like the live action TV show,you know, but then you have stuff
like this where it's just like yeah, fun and it's like Lego movie.

I mean it's not on the samecast, just like fun poking, poking
fun of themselves but not annoying aboutit. Just really well written, you
know, really good and people whoclearly love this ship but also were good
enough to not go too deep intolike the war with this. They just
just have a good time. Youknow. Well I like too the Sorry

ask what you guys thought about SlaySlave La. I'll be honest. I
love Will Arnett and I love WillArnett's voice acting. I did not love
him in this movie. He wasn'treally going off, you know, I
was just saying, you know,I like that it wasn't super comic booky.

I the whole thing with him islike they're talking about like mine mind
ta, which isn't really like histhing. I mean, he's like,
he's like a master tactician, buthe's not like a mind manipulator. So
I just thought it was a littleweird. I thought his character was a
little off. Just yeah, hejust felt like more of a phoned in
performance than Yeah. But yeah,and I mean he doesn't I don't even

know it was him. I thoughtit kind of I mean, obviously sounds
vaguely like him, so I wasthinking, like, is it Filarnette sounded
more like somebody doing a Willlarnet expression. Yeah. Interesting, Yeah, I
kind of agree. Yeah, Ikind of excuse me as a character.

I loved it because, you know, again the self awareness of this villain
in the movie where they're like followinghim Deadpool and he's like, I'm not
Deadpool, and that was great.All these these gizmos and gadgets. One
of my favorite lines is like hebusts into something laboratory and stumbled upon this

like epic crystal that he's going touse to power his device, and he's
like, oh, it's this crystalthe most perfect plot device, and like,
I don't know, kids is nevergoing to get that. Yeah,
it made me. It made metoortal. Yeah, they just sort of
jump right over the conventional tropes andjust blow it off like fuck it whatever,

which is great. Well that's whatwhat I was going to say earlier
too, is I liked the wholeportal bit how it was because that's always
the thing, right, It's like, you have this character that can portal,
and like why would they just dothat with every villain and like I
love that that. She was like, oh, yeah, portal and then
it doesn't work it, you know, but it was like it was I

don't know, I love that.Yeah. And it's also like, you
know, we mentioned the ending earlier, where like they did like a reverse
south Park trope where South Park makesfun of like, oh, every kid
shows to end with giving a lessonout to the Crown, Kyle or Stan
or Someone's always like oh today Ilearned this, you know, making fun
of those shows. And this wasjust the in first where they're like Robin's
trying to tell the lesson and everyonejust goes credits credits credit. Just end

it, just get it over with, you know, which is great.
Just like in our favorite film discussedon the show, Freddie Got Fingered,
where at the end of the film, he returns from Pakistan with his father
and and someone in the crowd asa giant sign that says, when will
this fucking movie end? It's wonderful, it's great. Yeah, I think
I did note that that was oneof the good PIDs in that movie,
so I'll give you that. Iliked when they're calling will Arnette Slide Wilson

Deadpool for the first time and he'slike, I'm nothing like Deadpool. They're
like, well, you have swords, you have guns. He goes a
lot of people have swords and guns, like, yeah, that's a good
point. Why was everyone so meanto Robin? Everyone in this universe except
for the Teen Titans were so fuckingmean. Well that's what That's why.
It's kind of why I was asking. He was like Batman's sidekick, like

he should get at least some cred, right. I thought it was weird
that they didn't have any kind oflike moment with him and Batman, even
if it was comedic, where theywere just like, hey, you know,
I know people are saying this,but you know, I got I
got a deal, so I gotto have the looks for the movies.
But so you know, I dolove you, oh something, you know.
But everyone just fucking made fun ofhim and called him terrible and and

they said that Batman's utility belt wasmore important to Batman than Robin in his
car and al Ye, next summer, next, next summer with Batman's most
prized friend. It sounded like likeinterdimensional cable from Rick and Morty, just

like ol Fred. He's he's comingbroom. Uh, it's it's cleaning the
house like I do clean the house. Yeah. I like too. At
the uh. I like that bitwith Batman where they kept blowing up his
cars and then finally at the endhe's just shoulders. That was really funny.

Yeah, they blow with his carand then his motorcycle and then his
scooter. Yeah, and then hisrollerblade is just running the Alpherds just running
with him on his back. Itwas good. Yeah. No, James,
I agree with what you said earlier. Like movies, these, especially
these DC movies, it's it's ashame that in the live action counterparts they

can't have more fun, and it'snot such a goofy cast of characters.
You know. It's not that theyneed to be breaking the third wall like
Deadpool, they need to be makingfun of whatever. It's just like having
fun, you know. It's likesometimes you just want to watch a movie,
especially a superhero movie, and actuallyjust have a good time. Like
That's why I'm always like Spider Manmovies a lot, because a lot of
