(00:04):
Hello, mess, I'm a lieutenantin the police department. I'm in the
middle of a homicide investigation. Tryto get my prescription please. The whole
time is standing there with this whomme expression on your face? Have you
ever been dragging to the sidewalk?I'm being tell you best blood. No

(00:26):
man has spelt more blood in God'sname than I. How in the name
of Zeus's buttle did you get outof yourself? What you really think?
I let myself get killed in agarbage truck. Ha well, I hit
in a soup can roll it allthe way to the city dump because I

(00:46):
was made for this super baby andI am the care I don't know if
I feel weirder recording this in anopen room and a hotel on the floor,
or if I felt weird or watchingTeen Titans go to the movies on

(01:08):
my airplane. I don't know whichones were. Yeah, that's a that's
a good point. I mean, maybe the best place for you to go
is to the movies. Wake up, man, we watch Teen Titans go
to the movies. His nick Cageisn't a voice for two minutes in this

(01:32):
movie. That was that was Well, we'll get into it. Yeah,
we'll get into it. Hey,welcome to the Wingerman, Hey Kigo or
joint as always, uh with ourhotel floor residents. James cringe. It's
me and Jimmy Lou and of courseour fabled old friend kill up, bleep

(01:56):
up, boring a tang. Thankyou, thank you, very very correctly.
It's a nick name we said everyweek. I'm on the islands of
right right, Yes, good Internet, and I apologize for Can you guys

(02:19):
hear this music, by the way, because it's driving me insane? No
you can't, okay, all right, Yeah, there's like a buzz over
my left shoulder and there's music overmy right and it's I'm going nuts.
I'll be sure to turn it upin the edit. You can hear that
part. Yeah, thank you, yeah, thank you. I have sworn
you were in a confessional. Iam I am. But is the nick

(02:47):
cage in the beginning of face offfor the podcast listeners? Yeah that was
helpful for right well, yeah, yeah, we watched we watched Teen Titans
Go to the movies, directed byAaron Horvath and Peter Ryda Mikhayel Mike Hill,

(03:10):
released July twenty seventh, twenty eighteenfeaturing I'm gonna say Nick Cage,
but it's like two minutes, likewe said it's the voice of Superman.
Really it's Scott Menville. Yeah,it's Sun. It is Wesley cal el
Cage. He played young Bruce Waynecal el Cage. That's right. I

(03:31):
was thinking of of Weston. Iforgot that he actually named one of his
kids cal l which is courageous.Yeah, Scott Menville is Robin, Greg
Sipes's beast boy, Harry Peyton asCyborg, which I thought was funny because
I know him as Ezekiel from Lordof the Lord of the Rings Walking Dead.

(03:52):
Tara Strong is Raven, which Ido want to say on as an
aside as well, I spent likerecently about a year working on Loki season
two and hearing Tara Stroung is MissMinutes and this was a very very different
turn, and I'm going to appreciateher voice acting more and more. Uh.
Then we got Hindon Walsh as Starfire, and of course will our nets

(04:15):
As as Slade Wilson, who isgreat, and Christian Bell as Jade Wilson.
By the way, Greg Sipes,I've been watching rewatching the entire Fast
and Furious franchise, so I canthrank it. He's in the original Fast
and Furious Racers, right, ishe? Is he a white person?
I was trying, Yeah, it'suh yeah, yeah, which which I

(04:44):
didn't know what to make of it. And then I guess he does beast
boy, he's been doing it foryears. Yeah, there's a lot of
that, so I just was sure, But that's great. Yeah, Teen
Titans go to the movies? Whatdo we? What we what are we
thinking? I've never never seen thisbefore. Can I start? Yeah?
Please, I've never seen Teen Titans. I've never seen Teen Titans go.

(05:08):
I don't know any of the loreof the Teen Titans franchise. I actually
liked this movie. I had.I had a hell of a time watching
this. I had a blast.Yeah, I was telling Hank before.
But I started this movie at work. Then I had a pause it and
I and then I watched like Istarted watching about fifteen minutes at work,
about thirty minutes at the airport, and then about the other forty five minutes

(05:30):
on the plane. I felt likeI got a nice viewing experience each time.
I loved caging it and I thoughtit was pretty funny. I mean,
it wasn't good. It wasn't thatgood, but it's a kids movie,
and I thought for the most partit was pretty funny. So I'm
integrated on that curve. Yeah, yeah, I think I think it'd be
hard to judge this in our normalcurve. As you said, AJ,

(05:51):
what'd you think? I enjoyed itas well. This is one of those
like self aware movies that breaks thefourth wall, but does it correctly,
I think. And uh, itwas very kind of like satirical for like

(06:11):
cartoons and superhero movies. And Idon't know, a lot of the A
lot of the jokes really just onthe nose funny. Made me laugh.
It was a good time. Eveneven the last line of the movie I
thought was was hilarious. Oh yeah, when he screams at the camera to
ask your parents. And the moviewas genuinely funny. And that's I think

(06:35):
all of us are probably most surprisedby that. I also had a great
time watching this movie. I watchedit just a few hours ago. I
watched it. I watched it likethat's earlier here, So I watched it
like this morning, and like itwas a perfect like wake up like the
song in the morning. It's likean hour twenty minutes, which is great.
Uh, it's very funny. Theythey had they had jokes that made

(06:56):
me actually laugh. Uh. Youknow. And I watched the Team Titans
show that we grew up with theoriginal show when I was a kid,
and I love that show. Idon't really get it's a lot darker,
it's a lot more mature. Yeah, I mean it's still goofy and funny,
but like even I mean even likethe animation style of this and the
I guess the drawing style, likethey're all way shorter and crunched in and

(07:17):
goofy and silly, whereas the originalone is a bit more I think,
more four teenagers rather than this seemsto be more geared for like maybe up
to like twelve. I'm pretty suremy one of my nephews who's eight,
watches Teen Titans. Go. Okay, I think that's kind of the demographic.
Yeah, yeah, definitely, butI thought it was if I was

(07:40):
a parent, I wrote my kidto see this in the theater, I
would also have a great time.Yeah, And that's actually what most of
the reviews on IMDb say as well. It's like, you know, my
kids love this and I actually gota lot of laughs out of it,
because there are kids movies that arejust impossible to watch us. I mean
we've seen this one of them.Yeah, and Bully Yeah yeah. G

(08:01):
Force for Force was great. Yourg for said moments of Greatness. Yeah.
You guys both gave it an eighty. You got both gave I like
it hell yeah, all right, yeah, and he was seventy two.
All right, he's sweet. That'sthe best part about these so unfavorably on

(08:26):
movies. So this show has trainedme to just hate everything we've watched before.
Well, I feel like all ofthe animated movies specifically that we've watched
have not been so bad, exceptfor Christmas and and Grimus Island Christmas that
was extraneous. Yeah, I mean, I guess we can just knock out

(08:52):
Cage now there's not so much togo off. He's I don't want to
talk about it. Yeah, exactly, play Superman and he says the word
goofsters twice, which is great, which is so good. What more do
you need? You usters? Yeah? Yeah, I mean I thought I

(09:13):
kind of wish and and we hadbeen supposed to have a guest on uh
to do the death of Superman livesand we we just have never done it.
And I kind of wish we havedone this previously, done that previously,
because you know, obviously there's somuch history behind the fact that Kate
wanted to play Superman and the wholemovie was built for him to play Superman

(09:35):
and it just never happened. Andit was clear in this movie where I
felt like the ample to an extentand well not g force, but some
maybe even the crews too, willsay watched. But some animated movies,
you know, people come in andthey just do their lines and then they
leave. And especially in a bigrole like this, you could kind of

(09:56):
tell Jimmy Kimmel did that as asBatman, but age it felt like really
wanted to give his all into theselines, which I thought was really fun.
Yeah, out of his twenty lines, he did them. Yeah,
shut up, And you can tell, like exactly like you're saying, he
put the work in, you know, and like they gave him this little
bit, but he still took inthe character as because like in this world,
like all the main you know,Superman, a wonder Woman and Batman

(10:20):
and all them, they're like they'reall everyone's just a movie star. Yeah,
it's really just a big rip It'slike a big rip on like DC
Warner Brothers movies, which was fascinatingbecause it's made by them, and especially
I mean they rip on Batman versusSuperman. They make fun of the Green
Lantern like all of it, whichwas really refreshing and not and then like,

(10:43):
yeah, you know, it wasn'tvery good, but I gotta cameos
and they're like, don't you knowthis is a DC movie And he's like,
oh, you gotta go. Whenhe leaves it, then he comes
back, he's like, I justcan't stay away from the caveos. It's
so good, which is awesome, and it's actually him. It's great.

(11:05):
You have like they're constantly like they'relike, aren't you guys the Guardians of
the Galaxy, and like, Nope, that's a different realm. You know,
a lot of Marvel jokes, eventhe beginning, when you splike through
the comic book pages and you thinkthey're going a DC Marvel thing, but
you get Michael Bolton as a asa key tar playing tiger and he doesn't

(11:26):
aesome his So that happens pretty earlyon in the movie. And in like
the beginning action sequence, is youkind of they start like building the framework,
or at least for someone who doesn'twatch a lot of kids stuff,
you know, Like it was prettyclear that no, I don't believe it

(11:50):
or not. Uh, it's prettyclear that like they were removing like the
magnificant amount of violence. Right Like, I'm an adult, I watched violent
things. I like seeing the bloodin the gore and the explosion, and
like there were quite a few thingswhere like they would cut away, you

(12:13):
know, when the grenade blows up, We're like the guy goes to shoot
his gun and it just kind offalls apart in his hands, you know.
And so I was thinking, like, oh, I guess the whole
movie is gonna kind of be likethis where they don't actually nope, run
over Michael sweet song, you don'teven stop kind of look back, like

(12:39):
yep, we killed him. Whatwas the song? Was it like positive
stuff or upbeat things? It waslike we can do it together, upbeat
song, the bad Lades. Iwas I was laughing out loud at that
part. And the first time theTeen Titans, they're like, oh,
you don't know who we are,and then they just going to this big

(13:00):
rap and the guys just robbing bankafter bank so hard. The music.
They just go to people and sing. They don't actually fight anyone. It's
great. They get on their timetraveling tricycles and just go back in time
and sing and play dumb stuff. It's awesome. And I'm like, I
I it's such a good reflection Ifeel like of kids now or you know,

(13:26):
twenty eighteen eight year olds, likeyou know, like just the music
choice and the words they would use. I don't know, it just it
was like I see where all theselittle gen zers are coming from. Good
to them, yeah, you know. But it wasn't annoying. I thought
it was all really well done.I I don't think anything in the film
that I thought irked me or frustratedto me. I just thought it was
a solid, funny, surprisingly funnymovie. I had something that urked me.

(13:50):
Also, I just want to pointout this is probably the best looking
podcast we've ever done. I wishthere's a way to show you listen us.
I am basically completely in the dark. Henk, you look great,
And then Ah is just on hisside, completely turned over. But yeah,
so no, please keep it likethat, Ah I love it.

(14:11):
Uh, but yeah, So thething that irked me is this. I
texted the group yesterday before we wereand said, is this streaming anywhere?
And Hank said, I think it'son HBO or on Max and I looked.
It wasn't there. They had everyTeam Titans property was not there.

(14:33):
I shelled out four dollars and thirtytwo cents to rent this on YouTube because
it wasn't even on Amazon to rent. Yeah, it's not even on anything,
or it's not anywhere. They addedat HBO today to Max today word
that that will lose points in thescore, right. That irked me.
James. It was so funny becausethis morning I got up and I was

(14:56):
like, all right, let's let'swatch teen Titans go to the movies.
And I'm like, like, whatJames said is on HBO. And I
was like, well, where thefuck is this? I went to Apple
like iTunes store and it wasn't thereeither. I was like, yeah,
like where did he say you boughtit? But I went to uh,
just watch dot com and and that'swhere I went yesterday, and the usual
you're pretty good about this stuff inthe second HBO or said Max, Uh,
the same yeah. But but thentoday it had a new icon for

(15:18):
Max that said with Amazon, whichI was like, yeah, it's weird,
but let me just check since thiswas updated in some way. And
so I got to go to Maxand it's there, and I'm like,
I swear, I swear, firstof all, Max terrible name, awful,
and we keep saying HBO yeah orHBO Max was fine, Like yeah,

(15:39):
it's so stupid. But they Iswear they took it off just yesterday,
like it was probably I think itwas on forever. That's I was
gonna tax you. It was onforever the day you wanted to watch it
when they took it off for maintenanceand then they put it back on exactly
so wrong, man. But otherthan that, complaints called the movie really

(16:00):
Yeah, yeah, I actually havea complaint about Max. I just think
it's a terrible fucking name for hisdreaming. It's the worst. It's the
most recognizable brand, HBO. That'sprime time TV. Everyone knows it,
everyone loves it. It's fucking crazya new streaming service would pay a billion
dollars to have the HBO branding andlike their fucking slogan is like it's the

(16:25):
place to be or something like that. But it used to be Max the
place for HBO. What is that? HBO has never figured it out because
it was HBO, HBO go HBO, now HBO. I think HBO Max
and then Max the place for HBO, and now it's just Max. And
then they thought, oh, Iprobably must be HBO not anything else,

(16:48):
so we'll get rid of that. And then they made the great move of
just removing a ton of HBO showsoff of the platform. It's a nightmare.
It's an idiotic streaming nightmare. Friendsmy gears. Yeah, yeah,
absolutely, And that's all I haveto say. Yeah, I don't know
if you're an adult, if youhave kids, show your kids, if

(17:11):
you know Ojay, you've been mutedfor like ten minutes. I keep I
keep thinking you're doing a bit.I think he's in space, like he's
floating around in zero gravity right now. But nothing. Oh boy, I
thought you were like coffee or something, and that's why you muted yourself.

(17:32):
But I think your headset just therewe go. No, I must have
accidentally muted myself. That's good.I didn't really have anything to say about
you're writing about HBO's names. Good, and I could really care less about
so well, perfect, perfect,as long as you're done venting, and

(17:56):
you'd like to talk more about TeenTitans go to movies? Why why are
all It's right? Isn't there thatI saw? There's one that's called teen
Titans Go to See Space Jam.Yeah, well there's also one called teen
Titans Go Verse. Teen Titans.Well that's what they had the tag at
the end of this one. Sick. Yeah, they set it up.

(18:18):
So I mean, maybe we're watchingour show a special bonus episode. Did
you guys like the Challengers of theUnknown or whatever they were called. Yeah,
that such a good bit. Yeah, and they're just like they get
scenes they're not even known it is. I love when they're trying to get

(18:41):
back in at the end when allheroes are let back in the portal and
they don't make it. That's great. I thought they were going to be
the villains actually in this movie. You know what I fucking loved about this
movie. I sighed a breath ofrelief was they did the time traveling bit.
Then they go back to the present. Uh, everything is fucked up
around them, and you think,oh, that's gonna be the movie.

(19:03):
And they go, oh, thisis a bad idea. They go back
again, stop what they all did, and everything's fine. And that's just
one three minute bit in the movie. I loved. I love the way
that they like they save you know, different people's parents, you know,
they save the waynes they save uh, what's the planet that Superman's from?

(19:26):
Krypton? They save Crypton whatever, and then they just kill Aqua man with
so they threw a six pack sodacan plastic wrapper, runs in the water
and joke him till he dies.So the director of all of these super
hero movies is saying like, ifthere was no other superheroes, that's the

(19:49):
only way I would make a movieabout you. And he's like, oh,
that's it. You have to getrid of all the superheroes. We're
gonna go back in time. Andsomeone is like, well, to kill
the superheroes when they're babies. He'slike, no, obviously, we're just
gonna like remove their tragic uh butor they're tragic origins. So they're they're

(20:14):
they're fixing all the origin stores. But Aquaman's was not. It just there's
nothing you can do because he's alwaysjust gonna be Aquaman. You know,
so so good so could be onland right, because I like the bit
where they take the one out ofthe pool and him and the dolphin are
floper can. I think that's justa bit that it wasn't sure. Yeah

(20:41):
really far It's like spongebobst uh.It's amazing because there are certain DC properties,
like and I know this is akid movie movie, but DC knows
how to have fun. Like theythere are movies where they have so much
fun, and then for whatever reason, in all of their big proper they
just try to make it the mostserious like bullshit ever and it's just so

(21:06):
not fun. Well there's that solike even like the fact that like this
movie came out twenty eighteen, whichwas like yeah, just in the in
the middle of all of all ofthe culminator like Justice League and One Woman
two and all this stuff, andlike, you know, they I like
the bit that they do where they'reyou know, everyone makes fun of the
Batman versus Superman scene they're like, what's your mom's name? Martha? Martha?
Wait, we're friends, And inthis one they're like, wait,

(21:29):
what's your dad's name? I'm startedfighting, and I'm like that was such
a point of like cultural contention, you know, and like so much frustration
with these DC movies and even like, whoever the it must just be completely
separate divisions entirely without any oversight, because they were just ripping left and right

(21:51):
on all this stuff at the sametime that these movies are still being released
and still that annoying, super hyperserious. This is this is the most
fun I've had watching, probably everwatching a DC movie. It's great,
so good. And by the way, speaking of DC movies, the flash,
the Nick Cage caveo and the flashis infuriating to me. I don't

(22:12):
know, Oh you did it well. Nick Cage has a cameo in it,
and it sucks because they're not reallya cameo. It's just him de
aged. In the Superman I readhe was upset about it too, the
way he should have been, becausethey brought him on set and they filmed
him in a Superman costume, soyou would think, like, at least
have him fighting or whatever, orhave him his age, but he it

(22:33):
might as well have been any schmuckin a green you know, in a
in a full green suit, andthey could have just computerized. It was
terrible. So anyway, I feelbad for Cage. I'm glad he got
to play Superman. Yeah. Irecall reading that he said that what ended
up in the Flash, the newEzra Miller Flash movie, was not at
all what he had like filmed andwas told and was there for, and
it was just he was just sortof like, well, that was lame.

(22:56):
It was horrible. That movie washorrible. Yeah, I didn't know
it and seeing it, but uhyeah, it's a shame. Yeah.
So it's fun when you say,and they even had a little national treasure
joke. They like they throw abunch of Krypton and beat up Superman,
like, no, he's a nationaltreasure. Yeah, that's good. So
what is what is Teen Titans? Is? It is? It was Robin

(23:18):
like a little boy sidekick of Batmanand then just became his old thing.
Yeah, because like over the years, you know, like like comic book
uh logic to the best I'll explainit to how I know it too.
It's like time does move forward incomic books, just way slower than in
the real world. Because like likein the comics right now, if you
read Spider Man and it's it's twentytwenty three, holy shit, And if

(23:41):
you read spider Man right now.Crazy. You know, he's not some
kid in high school anymore. He'salso he's past college. He's kind of
just getting past being a young adult. So like they basically age, like
ten years in our real time isprobably going to be like one to two
years of a real life and comic, but give or take not always,

(24:02):
but that's generally the idea. Solike Robin over the years went from being
a little sidekick guy, and there'slike four three or four different Robin characters.
But like you know, he eventuallygrows up and becomes a couple of
different like night Wing I think isone of them, and a few other
things. So he starts to geta little bit older, and then people
who grew up with him want tosee him in more mature stuff. And
this happens with characters all the time. And so you have him now as

(24:23):
a more brooding teenager and he getsa you know, other teen where they
were younger. It's kind of likea young Avengers two sort of situation.
Okay, because I was gonna sayI would assume that he was fighting Cryme
with Batman. He wasn't like eightyears old. Actually, I think he
was like way back. Well, nothing in this world makes it true.

(24:48):
It is aman so yeah, yeahright, but yeah, it's it's just
as little. It's his little team, which like and it is. I
think it is probably the most relatableto like Marvel has the Young Avengers uh
DC as the Teen Titans, andthey go different, Like I know,
there's the TV show they did thatwas a bit more of the brooding,
like the live action TV show, you know, but then you have stuff
like this where it's just like yeah, fun and it's like Lego movie.

(25:11):
I mean it's not on the samecast, just like fun poking, poking
fun of themselves but not annoying aboutit. Just really well written, you
know, really good and people whoclearly love this ship but also were good
enough to not go too deep intolike the war with this. They just
just have a good time. Youknow. Well I like too the Sorry
we've been talking a lot about youget your appointed. I was just gonna

(25:34):
ask what you guys thought about SlaySlave La. I'll be honest. I
love Will Arnett and I love WillArnett's voice acting. I did not love
him in this movie. He wasn'treally going off, you know, I
was just saying, you know,I like that it wasn't super comic booky.

(25:55):
I the whole thing with him islike they're talking about like mine mind
ta, which isn't really like histhing. I mean, he's like,
he's like a master tactician, buthe's not like a mind manipulator. So
I just thought it was a littleweird. I thought his character was a
little off. Just yeah, hejust felt like more of a phoned in
performance than Yeah. But yeah,and I mean he doesn't I don't even

(26:17):
know it was him. I thoughtit kind of I mean, obviously sounds
vaguely like him, so I wasthinking, like, is it Filarnette sounded
more like somebody doing a Willlarnet expression. Yeah. Interesting, Yeah, I
kind of agree. Yeah, Ikind of excuse me as a character.

(26:38):
I loved it because, you know, again the self awareness of this villain
in the movie where they're like followinghim Deadpool and he's like, I'm not
Deadpool, and that was great. All these these gizmos and gadgets. One
of my favorite lines is like hebusts into something laboratory and stumbled upon this

(27:02):
like epic crystal that he's going touse to power his device, and he's
like, oh, it's this crystalthe most perfect plot device, and like,
I don't know, kids is nevergoing to get that. Yeah,
it made me. It made metoortal. Yeah, they just sort of
jump right over the conventional tropes andjust blow it off like fuck it whatever,

(27:22):
which is great. Well that's whatwhat I was going to say earlier
too, is I liked the wholeportal bit how it was because that's always
the thing, right, It's like, you have this character that can portal,
and like why would they just dothat with every villain and like I
love that that. She was like, oh, yeah, portal and then
it doesn't work it, you know, but it was like it was I

(27:44):
don't know, I love that.Yeah. And it's also like, you
know, we mentioned the ending earlier, where like they did like a reverse
south Park trope where South Park makesfun of like, oh, every kid
shows to end with giving a lessonout to the Crown, Kyle or Stan
or Someone's always like oh today Ilearned this, you know, making fun
of those shows. And this wasjust the in first where they're like Robin's
trying to tell the lesson and everyonejust goes credits credits credit. Just end

(28:07):
it, just get it over with, you know, which is great.
Just like in our favorite film discussedon the show, Freddie Got Fingered,
where at the end of the film, he returns from Pakistan with his father
and and someone in the crowd asa giant sign that says, when will
this fucking movie end? It's wonderful, it's great. Yeah, I think
I did note that that was oneof the good PIDs in that movie,
so I'll give you that. Iliked when they're calling will Arnette Slide Wilson

(28:32):
Deadpool for the first time and he'slike, I'm nothing like Deadpool. They're
like, well, you have swords, you have guns. He goes a
lot of people have swords and guns, like, yeah, that's a good
point. Why was everyone so meanto Robin? Everyone in this universe except
for the Teen Titans were so fuckingmean. Well that's what That's why.
It's kind of why I was asking. He was like Batman's sidekick, like

(28:56):
he should get at least some cred, right. I thought it was weird
that they didn't have any kind oflike moment with him and Batman, even
if it was comedic, where theywere just like, hey, you know,
I know people are saying this, but you know, I got I
got a deal, so I gotto have the looks for the movies.
But so you know, I dolove you, oh something, you know.
But everyone just fucking made fun ofhim and called him terrible and and

(29:18):
they said that Batman's utility belt wasmore important to Batman than Robin in his
car and al Ye, next summer, next, next summer with Batman's most
prized friend. It sounded like likeinterdimensional cable from Rick and Morty, just

(29:41):
like ol Fred. He's he's comingbroom. Uh, it's it's cleaning the
house like I do clean the house. Yeah. I like too. At
the uh. I like that bitwith Batman where they kept blowing up his
cars and then finally at the endhe's just shoulders. That was really funny.

(30:03):
Yeah, they blow with his carand then his motorcycle and then his
scooter. Yeah, and then hisrollerblade is just running the Alpherds just running
with him on his back. Itwas good. Yeah. No, James,
I agree with what you said earlier. Like movies, these, especially
these DC movies, it's it's ashame that in the live action counterparts they

(30:23):
can't have more fun, and it'snot such a goofy cast of characters.
You know. It's not that theyneed to be breaking the third wall like
Deadpool, they need to be makingfun of whatever. It's just like having
fun, you know. It's likesometimes you just want to watch a movie,
especially a superhero movie, and actuallyjust have a good time. Like
That's why I'm always like Spider Manmovies a lot, because a lot of

(30:45):
times the steaks are super low andit's really fun. Yeah, and it's
like some kid who's just making jokesand doesn't take it too soon and has
moments that are that are good andyou learn a little and then he learns
and grows and yeah, and theycan keep it light and it's just not
a character like that, So giveme more Team Tight. It's honestly,
Yeah, it's it's good, youknow. And it's almost like even like

(31:07):
from the Marvel side of things, like it's it's almost gets annoying when it
gets to be too much, wherealmost every movie that they have has to
be this sort of light making funof itself to the point where it's like
when you can take yourself a littlemore seriously, it kind of goes both
ways, and I'm curious about whatthe James Gun you know universe is gonna
look like. With all the greatStar movies, Well, they haven't had

(31:30):
any yet, you know, theyhaven't. They haven't. The Blue Beetle,
I believe, is the last ofthe movies, which Blue Beetle actually
is fine. I like the BlueBeetle movie. You might like that one
more because it is. It ispretty fun. It's pretty it's it's pretty
fun. But I think in general, I I and I think a lot

(31:52):
of people share the sun of it. But I just kind of have superhero
fatigue. And so you know,a movie like this, again it's a
kid's movie and whatever, but it'sit didn't it doesn't feel like a superhero
movie, right, It's more aboutthis kid that wants to be in a
movie. Yeah, Like that's kindof the crux of this, and his
friend's helping him get there along theway, and you can only do it

(32:14):
together, you know. Yeah.Yeah, it's classic. Yeah, I
mean it's yeah. With the superherofatigue thing, it's just like as long
as it's as long as you havea good script and and as long as
people are showing up and doing thework, like I think people are always
gonna like this stuff because it's likeyou said, well, that's that's you
wouldn't have that, you know, you wouldn't have the movies bangers, you

(32:34):
know exactly. But you have fatiguebecause there just hasn't been a good movie.
It's been a minute. Yeah it'sbeen a minute. But yeah,
no offense man in the Lost rightright timely subject or quanto mania. Yeah.
Yeah. The Marvels actually was waswonderful in my opinion. I don't

(32:54):
know if anyone saw it, butwell, I will not pay it,
but I take it. I takeit dollars to the box off it.
I just see it, like atone a marvel movie, like two weeks
in, at like one thirty pmon a Tuesday before beaters, and I
was stunned, and I thought itwas a really fun good movie. And
I was pretty pretty taken aback bythe reaction to it. Anyways, I

(33:15):
don't know to really say about thismovie. It's just talking about the bits.
I don't know. They don't evenhave goofs and gas. Sorry movies.
Yeah, it's true. What aboutgrooves? Hey, you get a
good question for you guys. Oneof the Titans he's cyborg. I think

(33:38):
right, it's like super you know, futuristic technology. You know, half
human half robot. Guy's got asuit that you know, puts Tony start
to shame in some ways, theway that it can, you know,
manipulate into various forms and stuff likethat. What what is the deal with

(34:00):
him? Like ranking out VHS tapesand cassette tapes as cool as fuck,
bro, Like the infinite cassettes thathe just pulls out of nowhere and just
starts playing. Oh strange, thisis the twenty eighteen movie. It's like
trying to appeal to kids that haveprobably no cassette. Go to urban outfitters.

(34:22):
Go where the kids are? Youknow the kids? Hell yeah,
bro, they're walking around the walkmanminis No, I agree, I don't.
And I loved it. I reallydid love it. He always had
a song occasion. It was funny, it maybe laugh. I genuinely felt

(34:43):
sad when when, like earlier inthe movie, it's like the second or
third time Robin gets rejected for gettingone of the other movie or be in
a movie and uh, you knowthe other team Titans, they like they
wake them up, like hey, hey, come check it out. And
they like handcrafted a whole stop motionfilm for him, and he stopped it
like one minute in and said, you guys are terrible people. They're like,
wait, just watch it, andthey never watch it. He never

(35:05):
does, and I'm like, ohyeah, they called him. They caught
him a little beta boy. WhenRobin was just a little he couldn't do
anything but cry. That's awesome.Yeah, Team Times go to the movie
Surprise Surprise of the of the ofthe year. I agree. I really

(35:29):
was, Yeah, really was. There's definitely a refresher after what was the
last movie you watched? Even?Yeah? Yeah, okay, Well does
anyone else have anything they want tosay with the movie? Yeah? Okay,
a j how is how's zero gravitygoing down there? It's very relaxing.

(35:53):
Have been been working hard and veryrelaxed. It's nice. Take a
load of cruise stood this podcast withyou guys. Yeah, I feel like
Hank, I feel like we missedan opportunity to pretend that agent was muted
again. That would have been good. Yeah, that would have been good.

(36:14):
Really really, I thought I thoughtyou I went a different direction.
I thought you were gonna say thatwe miss an opportunity to say that we
helped AJ get his load off.But that either like every time you guys
meet yourself that you know, Isee a little symbol didn't show anything that
I was muted. It did fora while, but you know, I'm

(36:37):
proud of my opinions aren't really thatimportant. That's what I've always said about
this show. Listen, listen toit for the other two guys. That's
our tagline. Completely cut me outof all of the episodes, and and
then just saying that you're it's theWickerman the place to go for Hank and

(36:59):
Hank you that's right. Yeah, let's uh, let's wrap this ship up.
Yeah, well, like the condomI used to help a J get
his load off? Oh uh,what did you hear anything? I feel
like his mic is muted again.Oh yeah, you can't hear me say

(37:24):
that. I don't use condoms.So obviously, let's move to a little
segment I like to call final thoughtsand ratings. A J take your load
off. Let's let's let's you gofirst. What are your when I have
final loads rating? I'm loadless?Oh my god, some time. But

(37:49):
yeah, no, I I likehis movie baby giggle. That surprised me.
Uh, it's entertaining, help myattention very well. You know,
I don't know. This is thefirst movie I think that we've watched in
a while that I hadn't smoked anyleave it yet. I wish I did.

(38:14):
I might have to rewatch it abunch of goofers. Yeah, give
it an eighty two. Okay, all right, nice Jimmy. So I
was actually also going to give itan eighty two. It's I really enjoyed
it. I had a lot oflaughs. I went into this expecting to

(38:37):
hate it. I did actually whenI typed out this list, uh four
years ago, over four years agoof movies we'd be watching. I remember
typing this one out and thinking, and you know what, it subverted all
my expectations. So I was goingto give it an eighty two. However

(38:59):
I cannot because they screwed me bymaking me pay for this movie. So
I will be giving this a seventysix cage. Whoa, it's a big
drop from Yeah, you're just gonnalike subtract the cost of the movie.
Yeah, yeah, oh you knowwhat, I'm not gonna okay, sorry,

(39:22):
right, yeah, just like yousaid, I did not expect I
was dreading this, and I wasdelightfully surprised. Well done everyone who made
Teen Titans Go to the Movies. You did great. I've never seen the
Teen Titans Go show. DC's beenin a kind of a rough patch,

(39:42):
and this was great. I lovedit. I loved the humor in it,
immensely reminding me of the Lego moviea lot in the best of ways.
I love that movie. Way toGo, team, Thanks Michael Bolton
for being in this movie as well, and good job Cage in the bits
that you had. I'm gonna givethis an eighty out of a hundred cages
when you go so, I gavethis a seventy six and gave it an

(40:08):
eighty AJ and eighty two. Thatbrings it to a seventy nine out of
one hundred, which puts it standby stand By puts us at our nineteenth
ranked movie. It is one spotbehind con Air, which we gave an
eighty one, and it is twopoints above Honeymoon in Vegas and matchstick Men,

(40:37):
which we gave seventy sevens. Ifeel like retroactively, if I had
to choose, I would definitely pickcon Air to watch. Yes, ajenth
I score gave it a sixty nine. You gave it an eighty. I
gave it a ninety three, whichI think is closer to what I should
have been. Yeah. Yeah, retroactively, yes, I would say Cone

(40:58):
deserves to be higher than eighteenth onour list. But well, and and
just not one above, not oneof the Titans go to the movie.
Yeah, but that was like sevenis here? Here? It is here?
Hold on one second before we rideus. It's been short, so
let's just play a game actually realquick. I do want to say,
because it's been a while so havebeen able to say this, I would

(41:20):
recommend this for children. Okay, nice? So this movie is above directly
above Honeymoon in Vegas, mash TeckMen, Army of One, and Club
National Treasure, Book of Secrets, and Raising Arizona. Do you have qualms
with any of those? I don'tthink so. I think it sounds like

(41:42):
the right company, kind of kindof properly rated. But it is only
two points behind con Air, threepoints behind Mandy, and three points behind
Valley Girl. That Valley Girl.We didn't really high enough. I just
that's my big regret. On thefirst episode, we didn't know what we
were. We didn't know what we'redoing. You know, you gave it

(42:02):
a seventy seventy eight, which whichis which is Uh? At the time,
I thought pretty good. I think, yeah you did. I remember
your watching You're like, you know, seventy eight really good? You know
whatever, and you just gave usToday, I don't care anymore. I
love it. I love something.I love it. It's so many it's

(42:23):
telling tale of the journey we've beenup. Yeah, it's good. It's
growth. We were still rating moviesthe same way we did four years ago,
there'd be something wrong with us.Everything changed. It's good as I've
watched more movies in the last fouryears than I have in the last like
fifteen years of my life. It'sreally funny. The last five episodes were

(42:47):
like seven months apart from me tellyou. Yeah, I know, but
totally. That's good. A dthat's good. Movies. Movies are culture,
and culture is what we are. We're one in this one, in
the same basket of eggs. Doyou want to hear what we're watching next
week? Keg. Yeah, weare watching what I would consider one of

(43:09):
the five worst movies I've seen inmy entire life. That's great. Yeah,
just say that so we'll see.I mean when I watched this,
I was I was disgusted with it. In this movie, it is called
Between Worlds. Nicholas Cage plays Joe, Franka Potente plays Julie. Garrick Clayton

(43:31):
plays Mike, and Penelope Mitchell playsBilly oh And Hopper Penn plays Brick.
Nobody is last name in this movieis Joe meets a mother who can contact
spirits when suffocating. Her daughter isdying. When Joe helps the mother spiritually
contact the daughter and save her.Unfortunately, the spirit and the daughter's body
is now that of Joe's dead wife. Oh my god, this is a

(43:55):
despicable movie. And I can't waitfor you boys to watch. Look,
I don't know if I can watch. Guess I'm gonna have to, but
I don't know if I can.Yeah, I don't think i've seen this
one. I hate those movies.Well that's great, James. I can't
wait for you to have to watchit all over. I'm excited because I'm
hoping that my expectations are so lowthat it ends up being better a Star

(44:20):
Wars story. Films on Do youdo you have a last name? No?
Are you traveling with anyone, No, I'm so low. Beautiful writing
in the credit. Yeah, wellthat's solo, a Star Wars story.

(44:40):
Thank you so much for listening. We'll catch you on the next one.
Good Bye.
