An it don't enough m a awell well well, Episode fifty eight of

(01:12):
Unplugged and Undeniable. I am yourhost, Jesse Velaskaz. It has been
since May the twenty of twenty twentytwo since an episode has dropped, and
I've felt compelled to cut open avein today for a plethora of reasons.

(01:33):
So I expect you to stay tuned, listen intently, and enjoy the content
that I'm about to spin out. This should be thirty minutes or less.
That's where I'm going. The contextof everything, folks, is going to
be where I've been. What I'vebeen doing content for twenty twenty four,

(01:55):
fitness, nutrition, hobbies, family, all of it. I'm gonna rehash
who I've had and kind of giveyou a little bit of the future of
the show. Then I'm gonna finishby cutting open a vein. So what
I'm gonna tell you all right nowis that the only editing I'm doing is

(02:15):
throwing in music at the beginning andthe end. If I trip up,
it's gonna stay in. If Istumble upon my words, it's gonna stay
in. If I drop an Fbomb or two, that is going to
stay in. This is going tobe as raw footage or as raw from

(02:35):
a vocal perspective and a podcast standpointthat I have ever done in my entire
life. And I've been doing thesepodcasts since I believe July the thirty first
of two thousand and twenty, sowe're approaching four years here in the middle
or towards the end of the summer. So where have I been What have

(02:57):
I been doing over the last twoa few years. I've been doing the
exact same thing from a career standpoint. Still am a licensed personal trainer and
a nutrition expert out of the greatState of Minnesota, living in the St.
Louis Park area for a few moredays. Then I will be residing
in West Saint Paul, which isa definite change for me, a little

(03:20):
eye opening for some out there thatmay not know what's been going on in
my life. I have been coachinga plethora of places. I have also
been in all different sorts of spaces, gyms across the state of Minnesota,
been training more people in home, really trying to niche down and make myself

(03:44):
happy, all while building a careerthat is going to be bountiful for myself
and my son. Moving forward.Been taking on a lot of nutritional clients
recently, which again i'll get intothe content for two thous In twenty four
I've been doing the same thing athletically, definitely taken about two to three steps
back in the last couple of years. Ever since my son was born.

(04:08):
The sole focus of my training rightnow is just to feel good about myself,
stay strong, compete with some ofthe best athletes in this gym,
which I still can do even thoughI don't take this nearly as seriously as
I used to. And then alsoteach that has been really omnipresent in my
heart recently is just the teaching aspectof CrossFit. First of all, gymnastics,

(04:30):
Olympic weightlifting, breath work, pacing, the psychology. There are so
many components, and I can getinto the nutrition later. Personal training wise,
I've been getting a lot of folksstronger, keying in on specific measurements
that these people have wanted. Somewant bigger arms, some want flat stomachs.

(04:53):
There are some that just want tokeep up with their kids, build
a legacy, and that's exactly whereI am right now. I have not
completely niched yet, and I don'tever know if I'm going to it could
cost me money. It is whatit is. So there is where I
have been and what I've been doing, and we'll add two more things as
well to this. I started apodcast back in early twenty twenty two with

(05:15):
Alice Halverson. She's been a gueston here twice. Episode fifty, which
is one of the was a milestoneepisode, and then I believe was episode
thirty four, which is still themost downloaded episode ever of this show.
I thank you and the listeners andAlice specifically for making it what it was.
So we did twenty episodes of that. I don't know if it's coming

(05:36):
back. It's gonna be more predicatedon Alis than it is gonna be on
me, because I do have thedrive to keep going. And we had
a absolutely incredible guest list anywhere fromOlympic swimmer Reagan Smith, NFL player Ben
Lieber, a lot of people inthe running community got a lot of downloads
there, former IBF middleweight boxing championTruex. I mean, the list goes

(06:01):
on and on. Alice is veryfull. She works with all that is
a very near and dear cause toher, trying to cure and fix eating
disorders and just going about it ina very professional manner. It's a tremendous
organization with all dot org. Isuggest you look that up as well.
So we did twenty episodes of that, and then I have been doing a

(06:25):
solo project on my hobby side aswell with two gentlemen from Iowa, where
I have my own show behind aPatreon wall, and then the two of
them and myself collaborate every Thursday nightat nine thirty Eastern eight thirty Central on
YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, FacebookLive, as well as wherever you can
hear your podcast, Google, Apple, and Spotify, much like you've heard

(06:46):
here. If you'd like some moreinformation on that, reach out to me
via DM this in this space,as well as maybe JCV Wellness at gmail
dot com or Jesse at JCV wellnessdot com. You make the call here,
all right. Content For the yearof twenty twenty four, there have

(07:08):
been a lot of things that Ihave wanted to keep and a lot of
things that have been wanting to letgo of. And there are quite a
few things in the course of thelast sixteen days I've been letting go of.
First and foremost, that is energyvampires. We all know an energy
vampire. The ones who like toplay the victim cards, the ones who

(07:30):
like to talk about themselves in anegative condensation. They'll empty their life story.
They want the sympathy from you totell you everything's okay, to boost
their ego. I have been there, I have done that. I will
cut open the vein at the endand kind of tell you why at one
point in time I was also anenergy vampire. I don't have room for

(07:54):
that shit anymore, folks. Thereare a couple of major projects that I'm
working on in the year year oftwenty twenty four. Number one is niching
down my online nutritional peace and whenit comes to the content that I create
and who I do it for, that still has yet to be determined.
It's always an extension of yourself andhow you're able to convey your story,

(08:18):
be personable and the people will come. So far, so good. We've
definitely done a little bit of thatso on quite a bit locally in the
Twin Cities. I've been able tospeak to a family who's the father of
the family had a heart attack andwe've been able to get things going for

(08:39):
him nutritionally in as well, justtry to put the family at ease,
which is super important. Here.I've had another gentleman who has just been
working on getting more flexible for hisgolf game here in the spring. He's
got some vain goals. I'm perfectlyokay with that. That was me from
the year two thousand till about twothousand and six seventeen, so I can

(09:01):
definitely understand where that gentleman's coming from. I think more so the people I
speak to you are the ones thatare really open and receptive to change.
The ones that have been down inthe dumps. They tried absolutely everything.
They don't have a great support systemaround them, and they're just looking for
somebody to talk to to educate them, to push them to a milestone that

(09:24):
they've never reached before. Whether that'sjust being comfortable in their own skin or
being confident enough to ask a personof the same or the opposite sex out.
I guess that to each their ownthere. I've never discriminated before,
and that's never changing. So we'regonna niche that down at some point in
time. The final thing that Iam going to be working on is an

(09:46):
ebook, folks, which will bedropping hopefully in the spring. Of twenty
twenty five. It has nothing todo with the nutrition or the fitness space.
That being said, keep your eyesopen. I'll definitely leave you an
update here and there on what I'mdoing. All right, let's go through
the last fifty eight episodes and whatthis whole podcast has been all about.

(10:07):
I can definitely tell you what it'sall about. It's about telling exceptional stories
from exceptional people in all walks oflife. I have had eight CrossFit games
athletes on here. I've had multiplebusiness owners, dietitians, doctors, four
authors, people locally in the area. Shout out to the Kingfield area here

(10:31):
in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I'mactually recording the show. I've had multiple
coaches on here from there. Ihad a coach who had just left tell
his story three weeks after he left. Very compelling episode. Go back to
episode two if you want to hearthat. It's been an incredible run.
I've even had arguably the most famousonline nutrition coach in the entire world in

(10:56):
Jordan Sayatt, who has worked withGary Vaynerchuk on and off for the last
eight years. I've tried to getMike Vacanti on. He's a local here
from Bloomington, Minnesota. He wentto high school with my brother, graduated
in the same class. He's justnot open to recording any podcasts on any
other shows other than his own.So if you want to follow a personal
training development podcast, if that's somethingthat interests you from an online perspective,

(11:20):
Jordan and Mike are doing that,so go ahead check that out. I've
had a world class violin player,Lee England Junior, joined my show.
I would not mind having him backon in the last two episodes just to
see what in the world he's beenup to. It's just it's an amazing
platform to have to be able tojust go and talk to greatness on a

(11:45):
daily base, on a daily basis, inspire greatness, especially from my listeners.
So maybe you can learn something. And I don't know if what I'm
telling you right now is teaching youanything, but if there is something that
you can carry away from this podcast, it's that if you want to start
your own you just got to doit. You have to ask somebody,

(12:07):
you have to go to go whereyou have never gone before. You just
have to approach somebody, ask themthe way, and then go do it
yourself. That's exactly how I startedthis. So in closing on the next
two episodes, fifty nine and sixty, the one thing I'm going to tell
you is those two episodes are goingto be exceptional guests. They are going

(12:30):
to be well known guests. Neitherone of them have been determined yet.
I have no idea where in theworld this is going to take me.
However, I intend to close Unpluggedand Undeniable out at episode sixty, So
two more podcasts to go, andthis thing is retired forever. I want
to thank everybody who has listened tothis, supported me and as well as

(12:56):
supported the guests that have been on. Like I've told you, an amazing
group of people and you can learnsomething from every story. I have been
a huge into storytelling my entire life, not just me telling my stories,
but also telling and asking compelling questionsto our guests to reach out to them,
get a deeper perspective of who theyare, and maybe somebody listening will

(13:18):
be able to latch on to whatwe just had just talked about. Maybe
they can be inspired to go eventuallybecome acrossfit games athlete. Maybe they're going
to be inspired to just get offthe couch, move their body, and
improve their blood pressure and cholesterol. It doesn't really matter that. The thing
is is if you gain something fromthis pod, that's all I ask for,

(13:39):
and I thank you for that. All Right. This is where I'm
definitely gonna cut open a vein toclose the show and kind of an explanation
of what's been going on in mylife the last year and a half.
So if I cry, if Iget angry, if I pause for a
few seconds, just know that Iam deep in thought. I'm completely going

(14:00):
going off the cuff. All I'mdoing is just looking at a couple of
things for references. So this podcastis dropping on January the nineteenth of twenty
and twenty four, exactly one yearand a half to the day that I
split up with my son's mother. It was not to my own volition.

(14:22):
There were definite problems in the relationship. The problem was the communication aspect.
It had gone awry. I'd probablysay from Thanksgiving of twenty and twenty one
up until that July of two thousandand twenty two. And the one thing
I am going to talk to youall about today is mental health and depression

(14:46):
in just ways that we can kindof skirt around it, tackle it head
on. And if my story compelsyou to do this, I thank you
dearly. I really do. Igo through depression in the summers, usually
around Memorial Day until probably early October, and then all of a sudden,

(15:09):
I just become this blooming rose, this wonderful person with high energy levels,
tackling all these different types of projects, and everything's unky dory in the world.
But for those three months, mylife is a living hell. I
will definitely tell you this. Isleep a lot more. I have a
tendency to be a little more sedentary. I don't take very good care of

(15:33):
myself. And who would have thoughtthat'd be like seventy five eighty degrees all
year round, or excuse me,during the summers in the state of Minnesota.
And here I am indoor sleeping anywherefrom nine to eleven hours a day.
And what I've learned from a therapistis that it stemmed from something in
my past that happened right around MemorialDay. I will go into very little

(15:56):
detail quickly here. My parents hada physical confrontation. It was more so
my father against my mother than anythingelse, and they ended up splitting.
They separated for a few months, and during that time I was probably a
wreck. I was five years old. I was told that once this confrontation

(16:18):
was going on, that I wasjust staring at a TV blankly, which
pretty much tells me that I dothis still to this day. When there's
conflict going on or things I don'twant to hear, I just stare off
into the distance and shut it out. I don't want to think about it.
I don't want to hear about it. That's just my way of compartmentalizing.

(16:38):
I'll go later on if I needto into a private place really think
about it. I might shut atear, i might get angry, I'll
show all different types of emotion. But that's exactly how I break things down.
And we all do things so muchdifferently. So with this very traumatic

(16:59):
incident that had up in none Julynineteenth, twenty twenty two, I had
a lot of recovering to do.I had a lot of breakthroughs throughout this
course of the last year and ahalf. I had to eat a lot
of crow There was a period oftime where I did not see my son

(17:19):
for three months, which is absolutelyhorrific, especially from a young parent's perspective.
I don't even want to know whatin the world was going on through
my at that time year old son'shead, knowing that his mom and his
dad were together for that full year, his first year on earth, and

(17:41):
then all of a sudden, somebody'sjust wiped away from the equation and all
he has left to lean on hismom. I don't understand it. I
can't. I can empathize with it, but not at that age because my
parents' divorced when I was sixteen, and my mom left the picture when I
was nineteen or twenty. So Ihave three younger brothers at the time,

(18:03):
there were thirteen, eleven, andnine. They did not get a chance
to see their mother from that timeframe until about twenty and twelves. We're
looking at about a twelve year spanwhere their mom was in and was completely
out of their lives, maybe init every now and then, but at
the same time, they really onlyhad one mother figure, and that was
my dad's girlfriend at the time, who they were together for about six years

(18:27):
before they finally split. Just somethinghappened that was that. So to be
able to grow up with a usuallya one parent household predominantly is it's not
an easy thing. There's gonna bea lot of things missing, and a
psychologist can definitely break that down foryou. So I definitely recommend therapy,

(18:47):
whether it's free, whether you havethe income and the means to do so,
go out and do it for yourself. It's super important that we heal.
Surround yourself with the community, Surroundyourself with your family. If that's
who you can turn to, aclose confidant circle, which is super important,
that like minded that can be completelyuplifting. That's just an incredible piece

(19:12):
to the pie, folks. Andover the course now of the last eleven
months, I have been able tosee my son, I'm getting very very
close to fifty to fifty custody. We are inches away from this, folks.
I am extremely excited to offer youand tell you that it really brightens

(19:33):
my day. I really thought Iwas gonna cry on this pod, and
I don't think I'm going to Sothe course of the next forty five years
on earth here i am about fortythree and a half, I'm hoping for
a life expectancy of ninety. Theultimate goal is to just be the absolute
best father, human and brother.Uncle Coach whatever it is, whatever title

(20:03):
I take on my life has tremendousmeaning, and it all starts at the
top with my son. He hasbrought me incredible joy ever since he's come
back. It was the worst Christmasof my entire life in twenty twenty two,
not being able to see him.I was able to have him this

(20:25):
Christmas, so to see the differencesover the course of a year, and
now he can compartmentalize what Christmas means. He opens his presence, he smiles.
I'm watching him grow. He cancount from one to twenty one to
twelve in Spanish. He's an immersion. He knows his primary and second theory
colors. He's got a tremendous personality. I'm so blessed. I am so

(20:49):
fortunate that I have a son thatI can nurture and just be the best
father ever to. I don't ifthere's anything to take away, there's You
can't take that away from me,and my ex try to take that away
from me. It was very traumatic. Obviously, I went through tremendous mental

(21:18):
and emotional grief. I still gothrough grief. There are days where the
communication as she no let me rephrasethat, the communication fucking sucks between the
two of us still, and ithas nothing to do with me. What
I will definitely tell you is thatthe eighteen months of me getting to know
myself better has been very important. Now that I love myself, I can

(21:45):
love my son and everybody else tothe most maximum capacity. And that's all
I can ever ask for. Myson is my hero. Like everything that
I do, it's gonna be forhim. The foundation, the finances,

(22:07):
the love, the education, everythingimaginable, I'm just gonna give it to
him. That's why I'm building thisbusiness. That's why I'm moving on.
That's why I'm moving closer to hismother to ensure that he gets the best
of both of us. He's beengetting the best of me for the last

(22:32):
probably ten months, where there aretimes and places where he gets the best
of his mother. Yet, andI'm gonna close this part with his mother.
Is that I've never envisioned somebody ofmy entire life that I didn't know
about until five years ago until now, is that she is incredibly vindictive,

(22:52):
oblivious to other people's opinions, outof touch, stuck in her own ways,
and unwilling to change. If anybodyneeds therapy, There isn't many people
more on planet Earth that need therapymore than my son's mother. And she
refuses to go, It's going tobite her in the ass. Everything comes

(23:15):
back around. Karma is a bitch. Everything that you have done to our
sun over the course of the lasteighteen months is going to bite you metaphorically,
mentally, emotionally, every way possible. It's going to bite you right
in the rear end. You weregoing to live with regrets unless you do

(23:38):
not get the help that you need. I am telling you right now as
raw as it gets, Folks, this is the best version of jesse Velaskaz
on January the nineteenth, twenty twentyfour that you've ever seen. I know
it. Everybody else that is aroundme knows it. And let's just conclude

(24:03):
this whole thing with this, becauseI don't want to go on a tangent
anymore. Life is just better togetherwe uplift each other, build connections to
celebrate life, use these connections tostrengthen careers, enhance our minds, and
become a complete person. Knowledge ispower, and don't lose sight of the
fact as well that while independence isliberating, which it absolutely is, interdependence

(24:26):
is a beautiful thing too. Weneed each other in times of thick thin
and as well as happiness. Celebratingalone while it's fun at times, you
still need people to advance. Forthe love of all things, everyone,
give your all to every item thatI mentioned, and give your all to

(24:48):
the things that mean the most toyou. If that's your family, if
that's your work, great. Ifyou have a really great relationship with your
family, awesome. Even if youdon't work on the broken foundations, you
only have one family and you're gonnaregret it when you're gone. You can
work on your career, your hobbies, your friendship. Interdependence can be a

(25:10):
cause it's near and dear to you. Like I mentioned with Alison with all
dot org eating disorders or no joke. We've talked about this multiple times on
the pod. If anything I've saidthat I've that has triggered you today,
I do apologize. You can devoteyour time to animals, to shelters,
cancer research, building homes for tothe less fortunate. If it fills your

(25:33):
heart full of pride, a senseof happiness, love, do it.
We're all allowed at a specific amountof time on earth. What you do
with it is completely up to you, So make it matter. Carry on
a legacy that you and everyone elsearound you's going to be proud of.
Plus carve that path for somebody elseto follow and make our world a much

(26:00):
better place than you left it.My name is Jessevelaskaz. You can find
me at JCV Wellness on Instagram,Jessewellness dot com. You can also find
me at top rope Nation that's myside project. You can find me on
Twitter at jessec Velasquez. And Ihope you got something out of this episode

(26:26):
today, folks, I cut opena vein. I truly appreciate you listening.
Google, Apple and Spotify is whereyou can find the show, like
and subscribe. Go back and listento the previous fifty seven episodes. They
weren't nearly as raw as this, but the one thing I can tell you
is you're gonna get something from it, and they're a whole lot of fun
to record. Podcasts have been mycalling. I can definitely tell you that

(26:49):
coming from a journalism and communications perspective. So if there's one thing that I
was born to do, it waswrite and talk. So I appreciate you
listening, and I appreciate all ofyour support. Again, look for the
next two episodes to drop within thenext I'm gonna put it by March thirty.
First. They are gonna be massiveguests, whoever they are, and

(27:12):
I hope that they're the most downloadedepisodes that I ever have. I'm hoping
this one is the most downloaded episodeI ever have. To my friends,
my families, my acquaintances, peopleI have never met before, people who
have met me on social media orhave heard of me from word of mouth,
thank you. And that has beenepisode fifty eight of Unplugged and Undeniable.

(27:36):
Folks, go make this a greatweekend, and as always, I
will see you on the flip side. Yes, dog Smile shall be able
to find yesterday down the ground.Ma'am back in your pot, going away

(28:00):
up, seeing everything that I'm agoing way up. This is why I
never wake up yet. Boy,you know you were to Jome from the princip
