A midweek gut-punch: political theater over the shutdown, elites celebrating a “victory” that locks in last year’s bloated spending, and fresh Epstein disclosures that drip with the rot of the ruling class. In this episode, we go from defeat and disgust to reflection—on duty, honor, protection, wisdom, and the rare people who still live by them. A candid walk through political betrayal, cultural decay, and the resolve required to fight on.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Shut Down Drama and Epstein A let's just say Wednesday evening.
Wednesday evening, I was I felt defeated last I mean,
you've had moments in your life where you just be

(00:38):
like that, you know, you just deflated because of a defeat.
I was thinking about it in terms of sports. My
junior year in high school, we had a team that
could have made a pretty good run at the state
championship and we blew it. We blew it. In the sectionals,
we lost to a team that we crushed twice during

(01:01):
the regular season. I mean they made us play the
day before toughest game of the season. But you know,
again we lost, and I remember just an empty, empty
feeling after that what could have been and should have been.
As a man, it is our our natural inclination to

(01:22):
provide and protect. It's that's what we do, you know,
That's what men are supposed to do. That that's we're
hardwired to do that. I walk into a restaurant, in
the restaurant with my family in the restaurant, my wife.
First thing I'm looking for is the exits. I'm you know,
I'm looking how do I get out of here? Okay?

(01:43):
If something were to go down, how I'm gonna handle it?
Just's my nature. I'm always okay. Uh. You know again,
I was a linebacker and a defense crossing eyes in
the back of your head man all the time. And
it's it's just two am. Same thing holds true for
all of you, my listeners, my clients. That's that's my job.

(02:04):
It's my job is to protect, protect, and obviously build
people's portfolios and to educate. Here we talked about ald
time on our program. You know, build, create, protect, and teach.
It's a good way to go through life everybody should
engage in. But Wednesday, Wednesday, I was I was defeated.

(02:27):
I really was. I watched I watched that press conference,
watched the press conference with Donald Trump signing anything. We're
signing this great piece of legislation, and I'm watching all
these sorry A holes, I didn't swear, Okay. Anal shrinks

(02:48):
anal shrinter. Politicians surrounding the resolute desk all and we're
gonna show them continue resolution. That's Biden spending from last year. Man,
it's just signed off on. Congratulations. Congratulations, we're continuing the
Biden spending from twenty to twenty four. Great job, guys,

(03:11):
you're killing it, man, you kill it. Great. Awesome boy.
You guys are doing all doing all sorts of great things.
And oh well, guess what. We're going to keep the
government open until the end of January. You do know
what's going to happen now, people, right, You see, I

(03:31):
got a lot of vacations taking place between now and
the end of January, meaning that the power players within
Congress or sit down and Mi'll Scott Scott Scotch. I
love Scott. I'll be drinking their Scotch and smoking their
cigars again. I know it's kind of a cliche, but
they will, and they will. They'll they'll craft a piece

(03:55):
of legislation that's happened before, omnibus legislation where they will
get their payoffs the people that have been around the
long enough, they'll get their their various different deals to
go back to their districts. Uh, Democrats and Republicans will
come together and uh, we'll get nothing. We'll get no
sort of reform, we'll get no sort of spending cuts.
We won't fix a damn thing. They may throw a
thing or two in what a What a lost opportunity,

(04:20):
little little bits of reform that could have made all
the difference. We talked about getting rid of junk food
off of the SNAP program. How how really, how difficult
is That's not it's not difficult logistically, it's it's difficult
in the fact that all of these politicians are, for

(04:40):
lack of a better phrase, you know they they're of
course they they've they've got to collect their checks from
all of these special interests. Coca Cola writes and nice check,
Pepsi rights, and I checked various different food companies write
nice checks. They want them to con and you to

(05:01):
consume their product on the taxpayer dime, even though it's
not in their best interests and it's complete nutter poison.
Not wrong, Okay again, I love that line. Prove me wrong.
You can't, you can't. Could have could have done some
work when it came to Obamacare. What did we hear

(05:24):
the entire time? We got top men working on it.
Right now, who top men. I know, I I sub
reference that bid from Raiders of the Ark, Raiders of
lost Ark all the time. But Spieler was onto something
back then. Okay, that's what we got. We got a
lot of proposals working on Mike John turn brought things

(05:45):
on my desk. Care Oh yeah, we got a lot
of things. So foolish. Okay, it's not funny. Give me,
but you got nothing. You've got nothing, and you want
to know what the kicker is. You want to know
what the kicker is. They opened up the government on Wednesday,

(06:07):
even sign that open up the government, they immediately went home. No,
I'm not kidding, I'm not they went home. They've been
off from work for what forty five days whatever the
number is. They signed that on Wednesday. The House doesn't
come back into session until next Tuesday. You don't believe me.

(06:30):
Look it up that that just took place. And then
I have to watch all of the trained monkeys on
Fox News and some of the other program bucket that
good job. Oh my god, well look at that. This

(06:51):
is what winning looks like. Shut up, you're honestly, don't
you guys have any self respect at all? All? I know,
just as bad on the other networks as well. But
I mean, seriously, man, anyway, anyway that that had that happen,

(07:14):
and then we had all the Epstein more Epstein drama,
all Epstein drama all the same time. All of this
you can go through. You can go through these emails.
You're gonna want to take a shower afterward. You are,
You're gonna. I mean, it's gross. It's all disgusting quite frankly, again,

(07:38):
from what I've seen come out so far. Yeah, basically
it exonerates Trump as far as Russia collusion is concerned. Uh,
there is so far, there is no smoking gun as
far as Trump uh being involved with any of these
younger girls. That's not in there. I don't know what

(08:01):
else is going to come back. But what you can
take from this is that we the elites here in
this country. It's how can I put this? It's there.
Remember the movie it's from the nineteen eighties, young people.
I know, it's called Revenge of the Nerds. The movie

(08:23):
The Revenge of the Nerds. Okay, they're in college and
oh you got to a stereo. O. The mean old
football players and frat guys were picking on the smart
kids and the smart kids came up and they got
their own fraternity and they they took on the football
team and the cool kids. That's basically the plot, and

(08:45):
hilarity ensues. This is this is like a weird game
of Revenge of the Nerds where all of these elites,
I mean, these are the guys, these are these are
people that didn't make the football team by any stretch
of the imagine genation. Are our bunch of disgusting perverts. Man.

(09:05):
And again, I've talked about this before, We've done podcasts,
talked about eyes wide Shut the movie, and I'm like,
that's real that that stuff all takes place. Stanley Kubrick
was onto something and he mysteriously died right before that

(09:26):
movie came out, and then they took out all the
pedophilia bit from it. Oh you think I'm kid, Why
don't you look into that? But anyway, that movie was
spot on that these people and it's it's it's the
same thing, you know, I see them Wall Street. That's
what was actually funny. Guy's got a great what's his
name is lea Fever, John le Fever. He he he's

(09:48):
got a book straight to Helen talks about the whole
Wall Street investment banking industry, and I highly recommend it.
It's hilarious. And he put this at it said, I
spent eight years in Hong Kong on the fixed income
syndicate desk, the bridge between bond issuers and investors. We
did thirty billion in new issues a year. Whenever our
New New York or London counterparts are trying to win business,

(10:09):
they would all say, oh, we got to go to Asia.
We got to go to Asia and lower the cost
of capital. The only reason why they wanted to do
it was just come there and eat at Michelin starred
dinners and colorful extracurricular activities. The wedding things were the
first thing to come off. I talked about this in
terms of Davos. They import prostitutes to Davos. The World

(10:33):
Economic Form, Oh they have to for all of the elites. Again,
I mean, these are people running the country. They you
take a look at it. I mean some of the
people on this list, Oh yeah, you got deal. You've
got Larry Summers, Bill Burns, Gordon Brown, Thorborne, Joglin, Heide Purry,

(10:54):
Bill Gates, Leon Black Woody Ellen. You go right on
down the list of all these people that hung out
with Epstein. This is after the fact of him getting
caught with that whole palm beat scandal. Do you know
anybody like this in your life? I don't, I know,

(11:17):
in all my years, I don't know anybody like this
my inentire life. And if I did, you make sure
that I would be hell in high water away from
that person at all times. They all congregate together, and
they all work in New York or Washington, d C.

(11:38):
It is down right creepy, it really is. It was
defeated Wednesday evening. I was I was, I was out,
I went to bed, and you know, I don't know.

(11:58):
It's just it's just with those days where you just
feel like, you know, what what do I you know,
what's what's the point even what I do? Quite frankly,
you know, it's just this is the world we live in,
and it's just it's brutal. And I wake up, wake
up Thursday morning, wake up Thursday morning. I shot kind
how my day works. My wife thinks nuts. I've always

(12:20):
I've been an early riser, but I get up at
three o'clock every day. I don't start my work day
at three. Well, okay, I work on myself at three o'clock.
Every day, every morning at four forty five am, there's
a nationwide overnight radio program, Kyle Warren's Program, that I
do every morning at four forty five am. So I'm

(12:42):
up at three. I make myself coffee and I sit
down and I do my basically my prayer, my meditation,
I do my Bible readings. And this this Thursday is reading.
This Thursday's reading. It was the first reading. And it

(13:06):
always happens like this when there was something happened in
my life. I don't know. It's kind of funny how
I guess how God works, whatever it may be. And
it was the Book of Wisdom, and is all talking
about wisdom. All men were by nature foolish, who are
in ignorance of God, and who from the good things

(13:27):
scene did not succeed in knowing Him who is, and
from studying the works did not discern the artisan, but
either fire or wind or the swift air, the circuit
of the stars. Again, it's Book of Wisdom, thirteen one
through nine. It's fantastic, it really is. And it's Jeff
Cavens does this for Hallow every single day. And at

(13:48):
the end he talks about how his wife basically summarized wisdom.
She called it wisdom is basically God in motion. And
I go to Mass every day at twelve twelve o'clock
and the priest that day talked about, you know how wisdom,
what is wisdom? Knowledge distilled over time, and that you know,

(14:12):
kind of probably said, you know what, maybe the more knowledge,
maybe more things we put out in the world, maybe
people will get it and they'll start to learn, but
maybe not, but we have to continue to fight. And
it kind of really did. It lifted my spirits to
some degree. Am I thoroughly disgusted by where we're at? Absolutely? Absolutely,

(14:37):
I want to share with you. I've done this before
here on the program, and I'm fascinated with languages, and
unfortunately not enough hours of the day. I would love,
would love to study languages more. But you know, I
also pick up because my household and a man, my wife,
I'm mos speaking Greek. But I also you look at
some words that, yeah, we don't get the English language,

(14:59):
which is a you know, let me take a look
at our English dictionary on a bridged it's pretty it's
pretty long, right, but there's certain words that we don't have.
And this is one word I came across. It's a
Greek word. It's called philotomo, and there's no translation for it.
There isn't and it's often described talk about it as

(15:22):
almost kind of like this absolute love of doing the
honorable thing, the right thing above all else, this constant
sense of honor. It's not you cannot fully translated, because
it encompasses everything that you do, Okay, everything you do

(15:46):
with your life, pride in your your actions, doing the
right thing by your community, having that sense of you
know what, you know, I've got to do what is right.
I have to do what is honorable above all else.
We should look for people like this. We should look

(16:07):
for people like this. We should stop cutting corners in
the choices that we make for the people that we
put into positions of power. Until we do that again,
we're gonna get We're gonna get the the people we
vote for. That's just the reality. Get the uh, get
the government. You deserve more people like this. And I

(16:31):
wish more people like this would actually want to And
I get why they don't want to to get involved
in government, because it's just a dirty, dirty business. But
rough week, this week again, I admit it happens to me.
I felt like I was defeated Wednesday even it was
just disgusted again. Wake up the next day, Fight on

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
