MARIELLE
I was born and raised in Colorado, and I'm a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado. I am also a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, as well as an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor.
As a kid, I loved playing group sports, taking group art classes, and got really into playing music and joined marching band in high school, which is also how I met Ashley. Even though I was a shy, introverted only child, I always found myself participating in group activities and wanting to be part of a larger community.
Ashley and I reconnected and started dating after college and were married last year. Through our years together, we realized how important our community was to us, and that contributing to the collective was greatly fulfilling. With us both having extensive experience, knowledge and passion for health and fitness, we decided to open a gym; a facility that is founded in inclusivity, diversity, and authenticity. A community where we can all grow physically, emotionally and spiritually. A community where all are welcome and can be met where they're at with no judgement. Our gym is named Nexus, which means connection, and the vision is to create a space of not only mind/body connection, but community connection as well.
ASHLEY
Ashley is the owner of NEXUS Community Fitness & Performance Training in Colorado Springs. She is also a Leadership Consultant currently working with Keller Williams. As if running a business and training future leaders isn't enough, Ashley also professionally dances for the Latisha Hardy Dance Company and serves her team as Team Captian. Ashley is a wife and mother at the same time.
Ashley started her leadership path in high school dance and then took many leadership roles in her community in college at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. After her Masters's in Sociology, Ashley settled down in Colorado Springs with her Partner and High School best friend Marielle Hendry.
This is where they decided to open a gym based on acceptance, and diversity. Growing The NEXUS Community serves a larger vision of making Colorado Springs more inclusive as they also train injury prevention and fitness awareness. Ashley trains all the Latisha Hardy Dancers in this gym as well, paving the way for dance strength training for female dancers.
Ashley takes so much joy in what she does and feels she is making a difference in the world with her partner by her side. Taking things day by day, Ashley coaches, trains and leads many people to find their goals, stick with their plan, and empower them to be their authentic, powerful selves.
