(00:00):
My god, what a weekend itwas. And here we are on Monday.
It's payday, I know, whichis nice to wake up on a
Monday morning and see some money inthe bank account. I love and this
is our payday when we get moremoney. Yes, it is. What's
up? It's Justin and Winnie anduh yeah, we have a lot to
talk about, not a lot oftime, which tucks. All right,
(00:20):
let's get into it. Well,I have a follow up for my adentist.
Don't even play the intro. No, I have to play the in
right now. Okay, we haveto say something funny because then you know,
we don't have to but okay, you know, just say no,
just say something like I love youso much, Justin, I love you
and I was so moved at yourspeech and the tears are running down my
(00:42):
face face and it's so upsetting thatyou're married. I'm not saying it's upsetting
that you're Mary Dell and Lisa inthe Morning Present Behind the Scenes look into
Boston's favorite morning show. That's alittle too much information like the after show
podcast Winning. Yeah. So um, it was a busy weekend. We
(01:07):
had the book club on Friday night. How crazy was that winning. It
was awesome. It was amazing. So many people that were just so happy
to meet us. We were happyto meet them. People were taking pictures
with my wife going up to Jenand being like, I'm a huge fan.
Can we take a picture. Wetake a selfie, which was very
cool. So that was a greatevent. And then I went into Encore
(01:30):
and lost three hundred bucks. Butit's all good, um. And then
my commencement speech on Saturday. Imean, look, you can go back
and listen to the show today. We played a bunch of clips from it.
What did uh your point of view? Winnie? Right, you took
it all in from start to finish. Tell the people, what did you
think, um, of your ofyour speech, the entire experience. Okay,
(01:56):
so first of all, I,um hadn't even heard of North and
Essex before you told me you wentthere. I would say, I'm from
the South Shore. I will sayif you live that area, southern New
Hampshire, you know ninety three northarea, that is a beautiful campus.
Um right, for like, Idon't want to say, I don't say
like for a community college, butthey sometimes community colleges get a bad rap,
(02:17):
like, oh it's just a communitycollege. Beautiful campus had lots I
was looking at the program had lotsof really interesting certification programs. Um.
You know, they had dragon alcoholabuse counselors, they had sign language,
they had you know, a certainmedical field like sleep, studied technologies.
They had all these different things thatyou might have. You might already have
(02:37):
a degree, but you might needa special certificate that they did. Um.
They had um you know, oneof the person that um uh speech
for you ember Uh. Their parentswere both deaf, so they um you
know, went back to school. It's like their third degree from there to
become a certified uh you know interpreter. And their speech was amazing because they
(03:00):
actually signed it um and had someonespeak for them to interpret because they said,
for the first time then their parentsdidn't need interpreter, we did,
which I thought was really moving.Um, your speech was great. Obviously
it does serve serve a lot oflike a Latina community, Lawrence Havil,
that's kind of there's a lot ofLatin. Yeah, so there was a
(03:20):
lot like that was great to seeobviously, you know, uh diversity as
well as you know, getting umpeople that might not normally gone to college
from the kids the first year togo there, you know, to college.
That was awesome. I can't sayenough about it. It was.
It's a great campus. It seemsto have a lot of great programs.
The staff seems to really kid.The president's fucking hot. Yeah. Um,
you know your wife Jen went therenow she's a nurse. I mean,
(03:43):
there's lots of programs, especially ifyou're a kid that you might not
know what you want to do,go take a pre rex there and save
a lot of a lot of moneyif you just take a pre rex there
for two years and then you goto a you know, you transfer the
Salm State and then you focus onyour major and you save a lot of
money that way. Absolutely, Ithink it's great, a great avenue.
I too, Yeah, I wasreally impressed. And if you don't know
what you want to do, Imean, this is for younger people,
if you know, even I meanI went back to school mid twenties.
(04:05):
Yeah, but if you don't knowwhat to do, it's a good place
to go and figure it all out. Impressed. I was so happy that
it's over. I mean, itwas one of the great shows in my
life. Am I going to continueon about your speech and everything. Well,
I thought you didn't want to talkabout my speech talking about I didn't
know. No, not that youdidn't want to, but that you were
gonna because we talked about about italready a lot. Oh, but go
ahead. I'm sorry. I didn'treally get to go into it too much
(04:27):
on I know, I know Icut you off there too, I'm sorry.
Okay, So your speech was moving. It was about ten minutes,
just so they said to be.Um, I wasn't trying to knock the
signers or the interpreters. They werejust kind of in my way. So
I was trying to move around toget a good view of you. Yeah,
I noticed you were to the leftand then you were way over to
the left. Yeah, because itwas hard to get But then think,
thankfully your sister in law, Emilywas there and she got some stuff too,
(04:49):
so I was able to use bothof them. Um. I wish
I could post so a thing, but you can't on Instagram. So it
I did link over the YouTube accountthat has the speech, and it satiety.
I just picked a little piece thatobviously think represented you in the show
and whatever. But the whole speechwas moving, and you know, justin
and I have been friends and coworkers for a long time now, and
(05:10):
you know, some of the thingsthat he talked about he's never even told
me. So I got emotional,I think, especially when you said that
you just wanted to die. Ye. That really made me really upset because
I was like, I couldn't imaginemy professional life or my personal life without
having you in it. And Idon't know that side of you. I
don't know you as a drug addict. I just know you as Justin and
I think you know you you shallout be billing. Lisa and I feel
(05:33):
the same way as you, likethey are the two most you know,
supportive people, and I think sometimespeople don't understand how loving they are just
because you know, they might lookvain to you, or you might think
like, oh, they're just likethey have money and they wear nice clothes.
But they are the two most acceptingpeople I've ever been around. So
(05:53):
to have to be like that, who are legends in this industry accept you
and embrace you, not only exceptyou, but embrace you for you know,
things that you might not love aboutyourself. I think you know that
obviously plays a big part in ittoo. I loved your little smirk you
said when you talked about becoming theexecutive producer and co host of the newly
launched Bill Lisa, you just hadlike a smile come across your face,
(06:14):
which I thought, like that, and that's how I feel the pride that
I feel working with you guys.So I felt I felt like I connected.
Even though I wasn't a drug addict, I still connected with with your
speech because it wasn't necessarily about comingout of drugs, about doing something that
you didn't think you could do andaccomplishing goals that you could only dream about
what and the one thing you saidwhich might actually live by because my dad
would always ingrain in us as ifyou're in time, you're late, which
(06:38):
I think is a huge and thatbeing in radio that's being on time is
the biggest thing. You can't teachthat for you to reiterate that like just
showing up, sitting in the frontrow, asking questions, and that's something
that you can do in any job, in any situation to better yourself,
you know. So I think yougave great advice for not only people coming
out of a heart situation, aboutpeople that just to just live better and
(06:59):
just to be more price. Ye, So your speech was amazing. I
literally cried the whole time. Thankyou? Did you not you didn't see
me crying? I didn't see youcrying. Yeah, that was you know.
One of the other things that messagesthat I liked that I said was
about service and helping others and thatand that comes from recovery, and I
was able to tie it into recovery. You know. That's one of the
biggest parts of staying clean and beingin recovery is helping others because then you
(07:21):
help yourself. Right, you're helpingsomeone, they're getting the help, but
then you're also feeding your spirit.Well, the thing is, you know,
you do a lot of work outsidethat you don't tell anybody about,
Like you still do meetings weekly, you do you sponsor people, you still
you know, so you don't talkabout that, but I know you do
that, and I don't think you'renot looking for praise, Like that's part
of your recovery is to help otherpeople recover, you know. But because
(07:43):
you've been clean for a long time, so some would say you probably don't
even need it anymore, you knowwhat I mean, Like, after a
certain time, what do you stillneed to go, but you still work
it that I do? Whinny thatI do? Okay, we got to
pause here. We will continue tomorrow. I have to go to my appointment.
I'm sorry. Only time they hadwas eleven ten. I hate to
cut it short. But tomorrow Idon't have to leave early, do you
(08:05):
tomorrow? You're okay? So tomorrowwe can continue because Wednesday we have a
short one, right yeah, wendswill up a short one because it's Taylor.
I'm deciding whether or not I wantto share something with you guys,
so I'll take time to think aboutit. When on the after show tomorrow,
I'm thinking about it. Oh okay, well you think about that.
I don't know. I don't knowif I want to keep it to myself
right now, so I decide whatI'm gonna do or if I want you
(08:26):
guys's opinion. All right, Wellyou let us know everyone else. Thank
you for all the support, Thankyou for listening. We had so many
after show army listeners at the bookclub. Yes, we love you all.
I love it when they say Ilove you, love you guys so
much, and I'm anna after showarmy member. That's my baby. Yeah,
So anyway, well, we willback tomorrow with more stuff by
