Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to brain Stuff, the how stuff works podcast that
can make you smarter in sixty seconds. Hi Marshall, brain
You've probably seen all kinds of glow in the dark toys.
You hold them up to a light and then they
glow in the dark for half an hour. Occasionally you'll
see something glowing, but it doesn't need charging like this.
The most commonplace is on the hands of expensive watches.

(00:23):
In these products, the phosphor is mixed with a radioactive
element and the radioactive emissions energized the phosphor continuously. Does
it last forever? Well, no, but it can last a
pretty long time. In the past, the radioactive element was radium,
which has a half life of sixteen hundred years. Today,

(00:45):
most glowing watches use a radioactive isotope of hydrogen called tritium,
which has a half life of about twelve years, or prometheum,
a man made radioactive element with a half life of
around three years. Do you have any ideas or suggestions
for this podcast? If so, please send me an email

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
