Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to brain Stuff from House stuff works dot com
where smart happens. I am Marshall Brain with today's question,
what is the best way to get followers for a
Twitter account or a Facebook page? Today's question is just

(00:22):
a little different because I don't actually know the answer yet. Instead,
what I will be doing is performing a set of
experiments with a virgin Facebook account and a virgin Twitter
account to see which techniques work and don't work when
it comes to bringing in followers. You can find the
Twitter account at Twitter dot com slash brain stuff hs W.

(00:46):
At this exact moment, the Twitter dot com slash brain
stuff hs W account has a hundred and twenty followers.
The Facebook account is at Facebook dot com slash brain stuff.
This account has a hundred and nineteen followers at this
exact instant. Both of these accounts are brand new, and
this podcast is really the first of a series of experiments.

(01:10):
The experiment today is if you announce a new Twitter
and Facebook account on a podcast, do any of your
podcast listeners start following you? Today is May two thousand
and ten, so you can look at both accounts over
time and see exactly what happens is I do these
different experiments. As I do other experiments, I'll write them

(01:33):
up in the brain Stuff blog and post them on
the Twitter and Facebook accounts, and if any of them
really work, I'll also echo them here in the podcast. Again.
The Twitter account is at Twitter dot com slash brain
stuff HSW. It's not just brain stuff, It's brain Stuff HSW.
On Twitter, and on Facebook it is Facebook dot com

(01:54):
slash brain stuff once again, Twitter dot com slash brain
stuff HSW and face easbook dot com slash brain stuff.
Feel free to follow or just pop in to look
at the accounts and see how this experiment is going
over the next several days. It will be very interesting
to see what happens. Do you have any ideas or

(02:14):
suggestions for this podcast? If so, please send me an
email at podcast at how stuff works dot com. For
more on this and thousands of other topics, go to
how stuff works dot com and be sure to check

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
