The fight scenes in Jennifer Lopez's new action film The
Mother are being heralded as some of the best in years,
and that's due in part to their originality and wild factor,
But the film's director Nicky Carro says something else was
as important in executing them as well, focusing on the
scene's emotions just as much as its stunts. She tells
Indie Wire, it wasn't just a case of doing cool stuff.

an audience member, the storytelling has to have the same
emotional logic you would find in any dramatic scene. You
