My partner and friend, Jeff Schwartz, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I am fantastic. I don't know about you anybody. I
woke up this morning. I just scoured the the NCAA
men's baseball scores from last time.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
You mentioned that I'm all bad.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yes, I am all in on all sports at all times.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
It's amazing you mentioned that I was flicking the dials yesterday.
I turned on a little bit of hockey and then
the next thing I turned on was Clemson Tennessee and
baseball was good. That was a hell of a game.
Eleven innings, it goes and Tennessee win fourteen. Buddy fourteen
was okay, I think.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
That great game.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Great game.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Uh no, it was my My ducks won last night.
They're they're ahead in their regional right now. College baseball
is an interesting product to watch. It's not always the best.
There's a lot of offense and with those metal bats,
but I soak in all sports. Man, I'm watching college softball.
It is. It is fun to me to watch sports
and I enjoy all of it.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
I'm with you there, and you know what I do.
Flip back to the women's softball and I would love
to have a shot to stand up at the plate
with a bat to try to hit one of those girls.
I mean, you will do it. Oh my goodness. I
mean it's it's a I can't believe it. I mean,
that is a talent. The way they pitched. They had
a pitch, yes, I think on Washington a left handed whoa,
my goodness, she was a flamethrower.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Oh yeah. And Oklahoma's won like fifty games in a row.
They're just a wagon, which is incredible. So I watch
we are we are at All Sports radio show.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yes we are, Yes we are. And I tell you
what I like that. I just want to give you
a little bit of a warning. First, I'm a little
bit feisty today.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I'm feeling tell your your intro.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
You know what. I'm excited. This is like this Tuesday
is gonna be four weeks since my surgery. I am
walking now walking.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Okay, I'm assistant Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Right, I'm out. I'm out. I'm out at the cage,
going outside. I'm doing stuff. I'm gonna drive this week.
I can't wait. It's unbelievable, it really is.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
I want to talk a little bit with you about
this Nuggets heat series. Okay, because the Nuggets, to me,
I'm so happy that they're finally on America's stage because
you could see the type of team they are. They
play basketball. I believe the way basketball should be played.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Well, I mean they use this size, they exploit this size.
They passed the ball, they look for the open man.
They got Jamal Murray scoring. They got Aaron Gordon or
using his size to an advantage over the Heat. He's
playing a small team. They're playing with this small team,
and obviously Denver is exploiting that, exploiting the size that's
they that Obviously you got Jokic over there with that

(03:00):
triple double thing, and he's a tremendous passer. So I
think that this is a team that looks for the
open man, passes for the open man, looks for the
best possible shot, and look they shut up with fifty
one percent on Thursday night for the field.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Anyway, I think that that we have given, rightfully, so
a lot of credit to the Heat. Right. What they
have done this year has been very commendable. Right is
an eight seed, and just the way they've taken the
soul of the teams they played right like, not only
did they beat them, but like you felt the soul,
like leave the the leave the franchise of Boston. Right,

(03:33):
they got two coaches fired in the previous two series
that they won, right Like, they have done a fantastic job.
But I think to your point, not enough credit has
to been given to Mike Malone, the Nuggets coach, because
the game one game plan was fabulous and Denver didn't
even play like an A game like, they played like

(03:54):
a B game on offense, score one hundred and four
points and still won pretty easily. Right. I mean, Mike
Malung came out and said, yeah, we have a size
advantage against the Heat and we're gonna use it right away.
They went inside Aaron Gordon, who is a power forward
for enlisted listed power forward against the smaller the smaller

(04:20):
opponent in the heat, like there's no one on the
heat to go actually take it back, there is someone.
It's bam on a bio who's guarding who's guarding Joker,
So like there's no one to guard Aaron Gordon down low.
They said, look, we'll feed you the ball, big fella.
And what's funny is the only they only ended up
with like forty eight or forty six points that paint
Andy fell like one hundred right like they didn't like

(04:41):
but they had like ause had like twenty four of
them in the first half or or first quarter. I
mean they the game plan was so good. And sometimes
in sports andy, you just get to a point in
a series where or you know, a level of playoffs,
where one team is just better than the other team.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
We came Shafi, Boston was better than Miami.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, but the difference is between Boston and Denver is
Denver has has the MVP, has the best player. He
didn't win VP this year, but the best player in
the game. And he is not intimidated, right, Joker is
not at all intimidated by anything. And when the moment
is biggest, in the fourth quarter of games, he shows up.

(05:26):
He plays his best. They take his personality. Jason Tatum
is not that player yet, right, right, And he's the
best player in Boston. He's not that player yet. So
when things get tough, if you saw on the fourth quarter,
as soon as that he kind of made their run,
guests who took over, Joker took over, right, Give him
the ball, let him create our offense, passes, rebounds, you know, shots.

(05:50):
Obviously they don't. Boston didn't have that, and so and
then Boston I don't think he has the Jamal Murray's
a who's a reliable twenty five thirty point getter each night. Right,
So like the Boston talent. Wise, just if you're drafting
players you'd want to start a team with, Boston has
more of those guys than does Miami. But Miami, I

(06:12):
think as a team, is a tougher team in play,
but they're running into their they're running into their team,
their personality, indy, but everyone's longer and bigger and better.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
In Denver, I will you always talk about the big three.
I don't think Boston has a big three yet. Now
Denver does. Jokish, Murray and Gordon. I think that's their
big three. And I think one of the problems that
he failed, and we'll have to see that tonight if
they could come back. Bench was tremendous against Boston, but
Caleb Martin, Max Drews, and Duncan Robinson they had six
points combined the Thursday night they shot two for twenty

(06:42):
three from the field. Now, there were some excuses being
made that, you know, they had a rough series against Boston,
the altitude in Denver. I don't buy it. I just
think they had a bad night. It happens, you know.
Do you think the altitude is that much of a
difference you played in Denver?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Right, yeah, so coin is there. We know historically that
team off game seven struggle in game one, right, It's
just just the way the NBA is. It's it's hard
to play a seven game series and then go on
the road and win game one. Like I thought, the
game went exactly like I printed it would go. I

(07:14):
bet on Denver. I felt comfortable doing so. I bet
on the first quarter, and they came out and played
really well. Even with the nine the nine day layoffs.
The thing about altitude, it really affects everyone differently. We
played in Denver, I played there, I think only played
there once in my career. But I was told beforehand

(07:34):
that you want to get a really good warm up in.
You wanted to sort of get like the breathing going
heavy in your warm up to sort of feel what
it's gonna, you know, feel like during game. And once
you kind of get that that workout in before the game,
it makes the game much easier to breathe in. And
I didn't feel a problem andy at all until after
the game. Like my lungs were a little bit a

(07:55):
little little red and burning after the game because it's
more difficult to breathe in that air. But I didn't
feel anything during the game, and I really think that's
not That's not why Miami didn't play well. If you
notice their shots, it wasn't like their shots were short
because they were tired. They have role This is what
what happened in game one is what happens in most

(08:16):
playoffs series. The role players play worse on the road.
This is made history, right. Role players play worse on
the road, and they they did it, and I think
that tonight, I think I think Martin will be better.
I mean, I think Maxews will make a shot today.
I think those are all going to happen tonight. But
the question is if if Miami scores one ten, are

(08:36):
they keeping Denver under one ten? And then the answers know.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Well, I will say this the heat shot thirteenth of
thirty ninth and three, and to me that that disgusted
me when you just throw it out and that's what
Boston did, and that's when I lost that seventh game. Well,
you know, they just throw up that three ball, and
I don't see Denver doing the three ball as much.
Then they don't have to. They can exploit that height.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, well part of it I think last last night
now it was now Thursday night, the game game three
today at eight pm Eastern. They didn't shoot a lot
of They shot in decent amount of threes early when
they were even worse, they were in the like the
twenty percent range, and they made some threes late when
they were trying to come back to push that into

(09:18):
the thirty percent range. They shot much worse than thirteen
for thirty nine. So you might not like it. And
I get you don't, but they that was actually better
than they really performed. And they they just when you
fall behind, that's your best way to get back in
the game, right. And Jimmy Butler admitted after the game

(09:39):
too that that they didn't get to the rim right.
They had two foul shots two attempts the entire game,
which is an NBA Finals record for lowest amount of
foul shots attempted in an NBA Finals game. Now Miami
has the I believe they have the second least shots
inside of five feet this year in the NBA. They're
just not a long team. So for them to decide like, Okay,

(10:00):
we're going to go do this now feels tough to
pull off with Denver's length, But they have to get more.
They have to do some easier shots, right, and part
of that is getting to the rim, getting fouled, getting
to the line, getting getting Joker into foul trouble. So
I think we see a much different game plan from
Miami tonight. I don't think. I think in Denver wins,
but it's we're gonna see something different tonight from Miami.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
You made an interesting point early on. You talk about
a guy like Joker takes over the game and he's
like the best player in the lead. We know about that.
It should have been the MVP, Whereas comparing to Jason
Tatum and Boston, he doesn't have that yet. And I
will say this, I'll say the same thing with Jimmy Butler.
Jimmy Butler's got thirteen points Thursday night on fourteen shots.
He's got to take over and he didn't take over
for whatever reason. I don't know why. He's got to

(10:42):
be better. And you know what, it keeps on going
in my mind. I keep on asking myself this question.
I still don't think Jimmy Butler's a Hall of Famer.
Maybe I'm crazy. I don't think he's gonna make the
Hall of Fame. Maybe should he get a ring that
would help push him towards the Hall of Fame, But
as of now, I don't think Jimmy Butler's Hall of Famer.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
I think the NBA Hall of Fame feels like the
easiest to get into. It's actually a pro basketball Hall
of Fame, right, It's not even just the NBA Hall
of Fame. And I think Butler's gonna get in. I
think it's I just think it's easy. It's just I
feel like it's kind of if you're if you're one
of the better players. Now the question is well with

(11:20):
the way I feel about the Hall of Fame. A
lot of times is like, were you ever the best
player for a year? Like best of your position? Right
like in the NFL, which obviously we mostly do when
I cover, you know when there's gonna be there's guy
there's concept for for Hall of Fame status. And I
asked myself, Okay, were they ever the best player? Were
they all pro which means they're top two with their

(11:41):
position in a given year, And the answer is no,
And they get in any ways, And I get there
some years when you have a bunch of Hall of
Famers in your pro like are you even just one year?
And a lot of times answers no, And I just
I think I think the Hall of Fames will be
more selective. But Jimmy Butler was gonna get in, like
it or not, you can be Hall of famer'll be.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
I mean, I hear what you're saying, and you're right.
I think it's a lot easier getting into the basketball
Hall of Fame than the football Hall of Fame. Matter
of fact, you look at the Football Hall of Fame,
there's a backlog on receivers right now. I mean, you know,
they they got such a backlog for the next five
six years. I mean, if you're a decent receiver, I
don't even think you have to be an All Pro.
Just put up some numbers. You're gonna get in the
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Yeah. Well, the backlog is big at wide receiver right
now because they got rid of the offensive line backlog
a little bit. The last couple of years. They had
that big, that bit push that did after after the
year they missed for the COVID, they had like a inductor,
like twenty guys and did this whole thing. They get
a bunch of backlog players in. But we'll get a

(12:43):
five year man in football, and it makes it tough
for everyone who's supposed to get in to get in.
But again, back to Jimmy Butler, a ring would would
solidify that.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
I would say, right, I agree, I agree.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
I think.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
By the way, have you been on the ballot for
the College Football Hall of Fame?

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Me?

Speaker 1 (13:02):
No, never been on the ballot.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
No, I wasn't. It was something around pick buddy.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah, but it was the college college.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Foot I appreciate I was still I appreciate that, but
I was not even like I was. I should have
been the first team, all packed told by last year,
but I wasn't. But no, no, no, I mean my
teams at Oregon were not seven would have been the year,
but Dennis got hurt and so we were not good
enough to like, you know, as a team to be
in in a collegeable hall of Fame for winning anything.
So no, no, no, I'm in a I'm in two

(13:31):
Jewish sports Hall of Fames. So that's that's good enough
for me.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
There you go, all right, he's Jeff Schwartz, the Hall
of Famer. Get him on Twitter at Jeff Schwartz, g
e O F F. Schwartz, at Andy Furman FSR or
better yet, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That's
our phone number. That translates to eight seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine. We got eat my
Schwartz in this hour. It's gonna be a tough ee today.
I gonna, let you know, be a little tough today.

(13:55):
Botham perrel betting our number two and the blame game
and now were number three, now one NFL star is
still talking. That's next. Why can't he let it go?
That's coming right up. This is Fox Sports Sunday on
Fox Sports. Ready, He's Jeff Schwartz, im Andy Furman and
what brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling

(14:15):
easy and affordable. Got a multipolicy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more, all your protection in one place bundling
save at Progressive dot com. Now this is right up
your alley, my friend, because if you had a teammate
like this, you either say he's a diva or he's
just a pain in the rear end. And I'm talking
about Aaron Rodgers. This guy won't let it go. I mean,

(14:37):
all he wants to do is talk. And now he's
still at odds.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
I forgot about it.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
He's still at odds with the package general manager. He
said that his agent, David Dunn, is the package to
fire Brian Gudakanz. Why is he bringing this up now?
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Let it go because for a guy like Rogers, a
lot of what what he kind of needs in life
is to feel that, you know, he was kind of
right in this situation right, that he's the smartest one
in the room, that he is the one that makes

(15:13):
the right decisions, and that you know he wants to
I think kind of try to have his legacy be
what he would like to create it to be in
Green Bay. And I think that Packers fans, to them,
I think most are accepting of what happened. Like they're like,
all right, like you ran its course, it's time to

(15:35):
move on, and let's just let's go Jordan Love, I
think most Packers fans are very understanding of where Roger
stands in the legacy of being a Packers quarterback. He
might not feel that way, and so he continues. He's
continuing to try to set his legacy as a Packer.

(15:57):
And again, I don't think that has to be done anymore.
I think I think he's pretty much set for his legacy, right,
one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in all
the sport. I think we agree that he should have
won more Super Bowls, but he didn't, and that's like
the end of it. And now he's in New York
and it's like your ex girlfriend, right, who ex boyfriend

(16:18):
who keeps trying to tell everyone that they weren't at fault.
It was the other person's fault. And you know, trying
to create their own narrative about the breakup, and Rogers
continues to want to do that. And personally, if it
were me and you moved on, you moved on, like
you said what you have to say, and you're now

(16:40):
New York Jet. You know another NFL player keeps doing
this is Tyreek Hill. He cannot get over the Chiefs.
He keeps talking about the Chiefs every time he can.
It's like, Buddy, they have moved on. The Packers have
moved on from Aaron Rodgers. You're now a New York Jet.
Be a New York Jet, be president as a New

(17:01):
York Jet, and focus on what's happening in your building.
Stop LEAKINGSU about the Packers. Some talk about the Packers.
That's over. You have moved on. They have moved on.
Be done with it.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
A couple of things here though. Number One, I'm really
happy to see that Brian Goudenkouns has never opened his
mouth and kind of created a war with Rogers. He
just keeps quiet. Number one. Number two, how much power
should a player actually have? I understand that Rogers was
upset that a they drafted a quarterback when they probably
needed receivers, that's what they needed at that point in time.

(17:31):
And drafting a quarterback basically, if you're the quarterback, you
feel like, wow, they want me out. But how much
power should a player actually have in that process?

Speaker 2 (17:40):
So you're talking about personal decisions, right, Yeah, roster decisions,
I think near zero. I think that if you established
veteran quarterback, you might ask them about wide receivers they like.
But in the end, you have entire scouting departments, front
offices that watch these players as their full time job, right,
and they understand their strength and weaknesses, and they understand

(18:03):
the cap ramifications of signing said player. Andy, you'd be
surprised the amount of players that don't actually watch the NFL.
And when you're watching the NFL, you're not watching it
as a scout, right. So like even when you're watching
game film, right, if I'm watching an opponent, Let's say

(18:24):
I'm on the Giant and I'm playing the Packers, right,
and I'm watching another offensive line playing the Packers defensive line,
I will notice who's good. Oh yeah, yeah, oh the
left guard he really played well this week? Right? But
I'm not watching the game scouting players that we might
want to add at some point. Right, I'm not watching
the game and looking at the other team's defensive backfield. Right,

(18:48):
Like a quarterback is watching a game to prepare for
his game, Right, he's not watching it with an eye
to who might fit their their scheme. An I to
know the salary cap advocation of signing a player, You know,
he's not. He doesn't know the injury history of a
said player. He's just watching the film for a specific

(19:08):
purpose each week. And yeah, you notice who the good
players are, right, It's not. It's not. That's not the point, Andy.
We all know who the good players are. But all
the other things that go to signing players. Now, there
have been instances where teams have asked certain players to
look at at a wide receiver, an offensive lineman. The
Eagles as Jason Kelce their center to watch offensive linemen

(19:29):
one year, and they drafted Cole Jergens last year because
of that. That's different, Right, A team specifically ask you, hey,
you watch these players for me and give me your feedback.
It doesn't mean they're going to draft those guys. Right Now,
everything I just said I fully believe him. But I
also think it's important at times if you have a quarterback,
established quarterback, to keep them a little bit involved if

(19:51):
they so choose, if they want to be right, so
you can you can make it to where Aaron Rodgers, Hey, Aaron,
who should we sign at wide receiver? Here to help you?
And he gives you a list and you might you
might sign one of those guys. You may not. You
may draft one of those guys, you may not. But
Aaron Rodgers feels part of the process, even though it's
a courtesy. Maybe right, you might not even look at

(20:13):
his list, but you're keeping him abreast of what you're doing.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Did you care? Correct, you're interested in his in his success?

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Correct now? But also to if you're gonna draft his replacement,
you should let him know. Right like Alex Smith was
was no he knew they might draft Patrick Mahomes. The
Packers should have given Rogers heads up on that. So
But but again, I don't think quarterbacks should be that
involved in the process. Any player should be that involved
in the process of of, you know, roster decisions like

(20:44):
that's just not our job. Our job is not to
watch the NFL.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
If anybody should have been involved. Should have been Tom Brady.
He's the guy could he could scream for receivers? How many?
How many?

Speaker 2 (20:53):
But again like but again, like does Tom want to
spin his off season watching college film of food draft?
And you're absolutely right the Patriots have been terrible drafting
wide receivers. But so yeah, he probably doesn't want to
do that. I don't. I didn't want to do that.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
So the people that divided people to do that.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Correct, And that's why I think like when I hear like, oh,
Kyler Murray wanted the Cardinals to draft the offer to
tackle Paris Johnson, who they did end up drafting. Okay,
but but that's not rocket science. He's the best tackle,
Like it wasn't Like Kyler Murray is like, you know what,
I want you to draft the start a round guy.
For me, it's Paralym was number one off at the
tackle in the draft. Like, that's not rocket science. But
Kylin Murray feels part of the process. You made happy.

(21:34):
Who Kyler Murray might never play for the Cardinals ever again,
but he made them feel happy about it. They drafted
this guy even though again I don't think he really
knew much about Paris Johnson and that should have been
done for Rogers in Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Now, I understand what you're saying, and I agree with you,
but I don't like the fact that Aaron Rodgers came
out and went back to the Green Bay Packers. He
says the initial contract offer for Devontae Adams wasn't fair.
Where does he come off to get involved with Devontae
adams contract. First of all, Devontae Adams has an agent, right,
Why is he involved with all that stuff? That's what
I don't get. He's a true diva.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I mean, players are just uh, you know, they they
want to they want to sometimes be involved in the process. Man,
it's an ego thing. It's wanting to help. I think
sometimes too, it does come from a place of just
wanting to be better. Like Devanta Adams wants a quarterback, right,
Like he wants them to have that situation figured out.
He wants them to be a better team. Now, he

(22:30):
chose to be traded, right because he's still been a
green bit of Packer. That's part of the you know
what's part of the risk of being traded. You go
to a team that doesn't manage their roster as well
as the other team. I think that his I think
from him though it's coming from a place of just
wanting to win. I don't think DeVonta Adams has any
particular uh you know, want for them to sign X
amount of players or certain player. He just wants to win.

(22:52):
And that's a little different, I think than saying, you know,
we want to uh you know, to to sign certain extra.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Player, right right, I hear what you're saying. Okay, but
are you a fan? I leave you with this. Are
you a fan of Aaron Rodgers? I like watching him play.
I think he's a hell of a quarterback, but his
personality really rouse me.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Way, I'm I like watching him play, but I'm I'm
personally not a fan of But like I don't. I'm
with you, but I know we have to work up
against it, but very quickly we uh. You don't have
to like everyone you play with, like there was I
don't like everyone in the locker room, but I have
to work with them. And so just like at any job, right,
like you don't have to like the person, but you

(23:31):
know you have to work with them and you find
a way to make it work. And by the way,
I've talked to plenty of Rogers teammates. They like him,
so they His perception I think among us is a
little different than this perception in the locker room.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
I hear you. Yeah. We basically bottom line is he
wants to win. That's and that's what guys want to
do when when they get on the field. All right,
Jeff Schwartz, Andy Furman, this is Fox Sports Sunday. I'm
Fox Sports ready now. Big seems to be getting bigger.
That's coming up next on Fox Sports Sunday Live from
the tiraq dot com studios. But first, Kevin Wyatt with
all your sports well.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Spirits are high in Vegas tonight because the Golden Knights
opening the Stanley Cup Final with a five to two
win against the Florida Panthers. That game was tied at
two goals apiece entering that third period before Vegas scored
three unanswered to take a one to nothing lead in
that best of seven series. Game two set for Monday
evening in Las Vegas. In the NBA Game two of

(24:27):
the final set for tonight, Caleb Martin did not practice
yesterday due to an illness, so it remains to be
seen what his status will be for tonight's Game two.
NBA news and That's hiring Kevin Alie to be an
assistant coach. The Suns keeping assistant Kevin Young on Frank
Vogel's staff, and he will reportedly be the highest paid
assistant in the league this upcoming season. Pelicans hiring James

(24:51):
Berego to be on their coaching staff, and ESPN reporting
that Terry Statts will be an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks.
In the NFL, Buffalo Bills giving defensive tackle At Oliver
a four year extension worth forty five million dollars guaranteed.
And in tennis, Coco Goff winning her third round match.

(25:11):
In golf, Roy McElroy in the lead at the Memorial,
He's one stroke ahead of a group featuring Victor Hovlin.
Some Major League Baseball scores that big series in Los
Angeles Yankees and Dodgers, New York winning its six to
three on Saturday to even the series at one game apiece.
Aaron Judge won of four home runs that New York
hit on Saturday. It was his nineteenth of the year.

(25:32):
He also had an outstanding defensive play in right field
in that eighth inning, crashing into the bullpen gate and
leaving a debt in the fence out there. Other Major
League Baseball scores, the Blue Jays beat the Mets two
to one, the Astros over the Angels nine to six,
The Brewers beat the Reds ten to eight, Pittsburgh over

(25:52):
Saint Louis four to three. Philly snapping their five game
losing streak by beating the Nationals four to two. The
Texas Rangers one of the surprising stories of this year.
They beat the Mariners sixteen to six, White Sox two
to one, winners against Detroit, Tampa Bay, splitting a doubleheader
against the Boston Red Sox, and in the Women's College
World Series Oklahoma beating Tennessee nine to nothing. They improved

(26:15):
to fifty eight in one on the year and have one,
get this, a record fifty games in a row.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Back to you guys, Thank you. Kevsey in an hour. Hey,
by the way, it's more than a dozen. That's right
around the corner. This is Fox Sports Sun named Fox
Sports Radio. He Jeff Schwartz, I'm Andy Furman, and we're

(26:44):
eat my Schwartz in about eight nine minutes from now.
But it' talk about the Big twelve. You're a college guy.
You like college football, you talk about it all the time.
Big twelve is talking expansion this year, that Big twelve
is gonna add BYU Houston, Cincinnati and Central Florida. Look,
first of all, I got to change the anguish and
along at a Big twelve. That's the first thing, because
it's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
I mean, the Big Tennis has sixteen teams in two years.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
No really, I don't know why they do that. But look,
but the talks now to add you kind of Gonzaga
and basketball. What happened to regional rivalries? How the hell
does Yukon travel to go Zaga for volleyball and soccer?
I don't get it. I just don't understand. I know
it's money, I get that, but.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
So I'll just I'll just say this about all this
expansive talk. Right that when Oklahoma and Texas went to
the SEC, we got about a three day dance. Notice
this was happening right, if you recall, was about the
SEC Media Day and there was a report from a
local Texas newspaper. I don't know which one. I'm sorry

(27:46):
if you if you want credit for it, you can
email me DM me, I'll give you credit. Broke the
story that they were going to the going to the SEC,
and everyone was like, oh my god, I hear what
is happening. Right when UCLA and USC went to the
Big Ten it was one tweet. I know who tweet
It was John Willner, who covers a PACTO conference I
have in my radio show all the time. We love John.

(28:09):
He tweeted out one tweet ucl in USC going to
the Big Ten conference. That was it. One tweet. There
were a couple whispers hearing that other people knew about it,
but like not really concrete information. So and then when
when BYU and Houston and in u c if there
was sort of like rumors of like okay, they might

(28:31):
you know, these are schools are targeting. But it was
like one tweet, right, They're on the move, They're going
to so and so conference. So I'd say all this
too to just temper excitement on some of these things
because when they happen, they happen with a lot less
fanfare than we're seeing on social media right now. Right,

(28:52):
they just sort of happened, andy, Right, They just they
negotiate behind the scenes, and then it's one tweet that
a team is moving on. Okay, it's less of this
back and forth posturing in the media. It's it's less
of this, Oh are they doing this? Are they doing that?
How much money they get, how much they just go? Right,
they just leave. And there's so much in the media

(29:13):
right now from the Big twelve side about expansion that
I don't want to believe it because it hasn't happened
this way in the past. Now they might add in
Zaga for just basketball, which again the TV networks is
that what is that what they want? They want just
like a basketball school Yukon at the moment, just a basket.
I don't believe that networks are looking for that, right.

(29:36):
If networks are driving this decision, which they certainly are,
Fox in ESPN, can Zaga and Yukon? You've brought expansion
has happened based off TV markets for the most part.
What TV market does does does Eastern Washington bring you
the pac twelve is in the eastern Washington. I'm bringing
the TV market and Spokane forri Gonzaga too.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
What did the lay start on the East coast from
the Pacific? Right, Yeah, we'll do it.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
So the Big twelve wants to have four time zones, right,
they want to add a team in the Pacific. I
don't think. I don't they want to add a team
in the Pacific time zone, whether it's San Diego State,
organ ZAC gotta control. They have four different you know,
four different time zone, which I understand the point of that.
But when they added Houston, okay, in a big metro area.
They added UCF in a big metro area in Orlando,

(30:25):
and they added BYU, who guys might have like the
biggest alumni network in all the country, like it is
BYU as a huge fan base. Okay, it's a religion, right,
they have a giant fan base. Okay, they they're underrated
as far as a brand. I feel like you by
Us they added so they added three ginormous one genormous brand.

(30:47):
Right who has a huge outreach over the country, Right,
Houston and Orlando. So again TV markets, right fan bases,
eyeballs spoke Can, Sorry, Eastern Washington, spoke Can and Connecticut.
I even know what what what city they play in.
They're they're not this these big TV markets, right, So

(31:09):
I just don't think this is gonna happen it the
way people say it's gonna happen. And that's where I
say that with a lot of the expansion talk.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
We understand. I think the goal for expansion. I think
for schools individual schools is money, There's no doubt about that.
But I don't understand the advantage for gun Zagga to
go there because they dominate the conference that they're in.
In basketball, it might, right, it be much money, But
I don't know if they'd be that successful moving to
the Big Twelve in basketball.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
No, you probably it probably wouldn't be you play better,
you'd play better teams. But again, they have not had
the postings and success that they've they've probably liked to have.
Now they've had obviously made it very far many times,
but maybe the Big Twelve provides them a tougher not
a tougher conference schedule. They're more ready to well, they're
getting they're getting great farm play Jalen Sugs and at

(32:00):
home Grad. I mean there were five star recruits. Man,
they're getting recruits to go there. I think that you
say to yourself, what we get more TV revenue? I
mean ended up, you know, being able to to recruit Texas.
You know, maybe now a little easier and we play
a tougher conference schedules. When we get to the postseason,
we're more ready for play. I guess. I mean that's
maybe that's their their thought, but I don't. I just

(32:23):
any I don't buy it being as as smooth as
the Internet says it is for this transition to happen,
I'm with that.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
I think that money overrules success in athletics. What do
I mean by that University of Cincinnati is going to
be into Big twelve? I don't see them doing well,
at least for the first couple of years. How they
going to compete in football? Really, I don't see it.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Let's let's put a pin. I'll tell you how it's
gonna happen after the break.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Okay, we'll do that. He's Jeff Schwartz, I mean, de Furman.
This is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports. Ready, it's
time for the pro to air it out? Eat My
Schwartz is next.

Speaker 2 (32:58):

Fox Sports Sunny on Fox Sports readA. He is Jeff Schwartz.
I'm Andy Ferman. And by the way, we'll live from
the Tirak dot com studios. And Jeff, you said you're

(33:52):
gonna give us a hint on how these new teams
in the Big Twelve will compete in particular Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yes, So the best example for this, I think is
is Utah football. So Utah Football remember they won a
Sugar Bowl against Alabama in two thousand and eight. They won.
They played in two thousand and four, they played in
the BCS as well. Right, they were undefended. They were

(34:19):
undefeated that year, right with with with Alex Smith, they were.
They were very very good, right, we know that. So
they were in the Mountain West the last three years
there the Mountain West. They won ten, ten and thirteen, well, thirteen,
ten and ten, okay, eight, nine and ten. Twenty eleven

(34:40):
they joined the PAC twelve conference. They win eight games,
then they win five, then they win five, and then
they win nine, ten, nine. They've been obviously very good
since then. It's gonna take a couple of years, right,
ky Woodyham, their coach, admitted that the transition from the
Mountain West to the PAC twelve was much bigger than
they thought it would be. Right, You need different bodies,

(35:04):
you need different players. The physical toll it takes to
play a Power five conference schedule is far different than
it does in the AAC or the American or they
don't have conference to you it say anymore, I guess,
But in the kind of the Sweller conferences, right, the
KUPA conferences that's what's going to happen today, is going
to go through three years of just figuring out how

(35:28):
they recru better players. How do you compete each week
against you know, you're going from playing you know, Tulane
and UH and Tulsa and Memphis, right like, you're going
from playing those schools to playing Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU.

(35:48):
It is a different type of toll on the body.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
How is that going to relate to Colorado and Dion
Sanders because making the transition to with the new code.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Well, they haven't, by the way, done that quite yet.
Uh So, I will believe that the PAC twelve schools,
Colorado and Arizona that have been most kind of the
Big twelve, they're in the same boat they've always been andy,
which is if the PAC twelve deal is not good enough,

(36:18):
they're going to leave the PAC twelve conference. That there's
been It's been this story for six months now. The
Big twelve has been trying to put on the put
the pressure on these schools by putting this information out
in the public. If the PAC twelve comes back with
a good TV deal, which which doesn't seem like it's
gonna happen, then they'll stay. If not, they're gonna leave Colorado.

(36:44):
At least the way it's been announced that Dion is
the one driving coach Prime is the one driving the
expansion to the Big twelve seems silly because he won't
be there in three years. In three years, either he
have returned call to success that he will be hired
by at SEC school or he won't have and he'll
be gone. And that's just kind of simple, right, Like,

(37:06):
he won't be there in a couple of years, So
expanding to the Big twelve for that reason seems kind
of silly. And the last point I'll make about this too,
if you look at the history of expansion, no, no
school has has moved to a conference that is a

(37:28):
step down academically. It's not a slight to Big twelve,
but the PAC twelve as a as a group has
higher academic standards and higher academic and more research you
know universities than the Big twelve does. Right, no disagreement
I think away from Big twelve fans, Okay, we have not,

(37:48):
but we have not seen a team go from a
PAC twelve academically to a Big twelve. We've seen parallel, right, USC,
UCLA PAC twelve Big ten. I think you would agree
those are very parallel. Right, you mentioned Houston, Cincinnati, UCF,
B YU. That's it's step up to the Big twelve.

(38:09):
Right to step up to the Big twelve. We have
not seen many schools I think, I don't think any
any kind of go what would be considered maybe down academically.
Now I'll continue, I could I tell of this for
hours on my pack to all stuff. You also have
to have to think, Andy that the the people driving
this decision are not athletic directors, They're not boosters. They're

(38:32):
university presidents, right, university presidents. Okay, excuse mean. Athletics is
a small part of what they do now. It might
be the most visible part, it might be the part
to get the most calls about, but it's a small
part of the overall campus environment. It's a small part
of the money the campus brings in. Right, The research
money they bring in is far grander than it is

(38:57):
the athletic budget. And so to leave the PAC twelve
if you're Arizona, Now, Arizona I think is different. Colorado's
only been in here ten years. But in Arizona, right
to leave the PAC twelve you're turning you're not gonna
get the same academics, So to leave for five million
dollars difference than the TV deal seems a little short sighted.

(39:19):
I don't think's gonna happen. Colorados only MINNA coference ten years.
I could see them being like, yes, screw R out
of here. So that's I think the whole part of this.
It's a lot more complicated than just we want to
play in a better football conference.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
Right, I hear what you're saying. Yeah, I mean, but again,
I'm not so sure. There's the president make the final decision.
I mean, I think the athletic threat has to come
to play as well, and I think the money is
a major factor. If they're gonna get much more money,
I think they're gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Colorado, Yes, I don't. I still don't think Arizona really
wants to go. I don't. I just don't see that
being part of what they want to of what they
want to do. Interesting.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
I tell you what, though, I got a couple of
good questions to throw with you from eat My Schwartz,
and I'm gonna hold them over to the top of
the hour, if that's okay with you. Yes, yes, he boosted.
They're almost personal, but I think they're good and it
pertains to some things that you've done very recently. Okay,
one of them, I'll give you a hint. One of
them has to do with something you officiated with the

(40:12):
other day and you came home in pain. All right?
Oh yeah, does that ring a bell?

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Yeah? Yeah, I'm I'm still struggling. Not great.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Wow, all right, So we'll do that. We'll do so
much more, and I want to ask you about what
Tom Brady had to say, but we'll do all that,
but the real story comes after the playoffs. That and
so much more on Fox Sports sun They're coming up
right here next. The decision will be a heavy one.
We'll get to that in just about a minute. Good morning, everybody.
This is Fox Sports Sunday and Fox Sports Ready. He

(40:43):
is Jeff Schwartz, I'm Andy Furman, and we are broadcasting
life from the ti iraq dot com studios. Ty iraq
dot com will help you get there, and the match selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection and over
ten thousand recommended installers. Ty iraq dot comdway tire buying
should be all right, Jeff Schwartz. The questions on the
table for you a little personal, but we're gonna get

(41:04):
into it right now. How hard is it to officiate
a swim meet, which you did the other day?

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Oh my god, officiating it's not hard, buddy, It's not
the timing of the of the swimmers. I'm a very
elite stopwatch user. I was. I was a great I
did a great job of timing and including my kids twice.
Uh in in my lanes, great timer. There's three timers
per lane, so you just take on the middle of three.

(41:33):
But sometimes the timers I was with weren't paying attention,
didn't hit their clock on time. Not me. I'm always
ready to go. The thing about it, it was my first
time doing with swim meet. My kids are swimming this summer.
My wife swam full time as a youth, so this
is the first time we're doing this. My kids, my baseball, basketball, soccer,
flag football. I mean, they're they're weren't it all. I

(41:53):
just wasn't mentally prepared for the three and a half
hours I was there, and I did a timing for
the first half of the meat I was. It was
two hours on my feet on the concrete this wasn't.
It wasn't physically ready for it. Andy, it was. It
was exhausting.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
I bet in the heat too, right.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Uh, there wasn't that hot on It was at night
meet So they finished actually under the lights. Yesterday was
our first like super hot day that we had. It
was in the nineties. Yesterday, the summer, it's been kind
of cool. No, it was it was at night, like
we finished the last Like my son swam his his
individual medley at like nine thirty at night and the

(42:31):
lights were on. It was like dark pitch block outside. Wow.

Speaker 1 (42:34):
So, and you came out with the herding. I mean
you said that you you had bet.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
I wasn't. I was in I was in a physical pain. Yeah,
I was. It was more than I bargained for it.
And not. No, we have a meat Tuesday. I have
not no jobs. I'm not signing for any job. So
I'm just gonna enjoy bringing my and I also wasn't prepared,
like we didn't have enough food for the kids, Like
there was a whole thing we just didn't have. We
weren't situated well enough.

Speaker 1 (43:00):
Wow, it's tough. It really is. Not last, but not least.
Tom Brady says, he's not going to push his kid
to play football. He's got a fifteen year old kid
as a quarterback in high school. What does that do
for you? I mean, what is your philosophy about your
kids playing football following you your status?

Speaker 2 (43:16):
So I didn't play football to high school. In em
My Schwartz my book, my parents talk about how it
was because I was preparing for my bar Mitzvah and
all the side. Who knows if that's really the reason
why I just didn't have an interest in playing tackle football.
You know, my dad didn't play in high school, and
I love football. We went to every UCLA game every weekend.

(43:36):
We watched every Niner game every weekend, like big into football,
but just never played. And I then played high school obviously,
and progressing my way through I will not let my
kids play to high school. Not. My son doesn't want
to play anyways at the moment, so that's not even
a concern of mine. I've seen like Peewa football players

(43:59):
and the way they hit each other, and they hit
they make contact way too much in the head at
that age, and part of it is because they can't
control their bodies, right, They can't control their bodies and
you look at high school players and you have better
understanding of your body control, the way you tackle, the
way to hit each other. And so I'm just gonna
they're not gonna play the high school. He's never mentioned
that he wanted to play tackle football, so that's not

(44:21):
even a concern of mine. And I've been very firm
in that. And I get it like Tom Brady saying, yeah,
if my kid wants to play another sport, great, they
want to be swimmers. My daughter loves gymnastics, basketball, but baseball,
whatever they want to do. I'm not a parent who's
going to force them to play football and make that
be part of their life. If they want to do that, great,

(44:43):
but they don't have to.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
It's funny you mentioned that, but because me, I'm just
a regular glob.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
Really.

Speaker 1 (44:48):
I mean, I didn't have played sports. I endedn't play
in the varsity as a high school manager of the
basketball team. But my youngest son played high school football
and played college football, which I didn't push for sure,
and believe me, if I had my brothers, I wish
he didn't play. Was a couple of games he got
knocked out and he's not a big kid, but he
was fast, but he played.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
So that that's what are you gonna do if my
son in high school ends up playing and gets a concussion,
and my wife will never let him play football again.
So like it's so. I mean, she she is a
director of operations at AS. She runs like seven ten
sports clinics in Charlotte, and she just wouldn't they do concussions.

(45:34):
They do injuries of youth and stuff that they part
of all the high schools in the region. Like she
just wouldn't let she seemed too much. She saw me like,
it's not gonna happen. If my son got her playing football,
that'd be the end of it. So I just don't
expect that to happen if he is all right.

Speaker 1 (45:51):
So we took care of that business and we got
the personal information out of the way. But now we'll
talk about the NBA Playoffs Game two tonight, eight o'clock
easton the Heat at Nuggets. And first off, if you
take this far in this series, I just think that
it's somewhat anti climatic in my mind compared to the
Boston Miami series, and I think that Denver will probably
win this series at least in five games.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
We like sports for many reasons, right, Andy, One of
them is how unpredictable they can be. Right. I mean,
just look at if the upsets we've seen in hockey, right,
the Panthers in the postseason, They're an eight seed, I believe, right,
and they needed the Penguins to lose in game in
the last game of the season to even make the playoffs.
The Miami Heat, right, the Miami Heat right now are

(46:36):
in as an eight seed in the finals. So we
love the unpredictability of it, but sometimes it is very predictable.
And this is one of those cases where Denver is
just better. They're better everywhere, right, And they're better with
more size, more length, more experience. They have, better are players,

(47:01):
they have players that fit what they want to do.
They're just a better, a better team. And like that's okay, Andy,
It's oh yeah. Is it fun as a fan to
watch games that maybe orn's competitive? No, But but I
do think game two will be more competitive. Right. Caleb
Martin had three points in Game one. Max Struz was
oh for ten from the field, oh for nine from

(47:23):
from three point range, I expect. I think Ducan Robinson
had five point seven points. I for those guys to
be better. They're talking about Tyler hero playing playing in
this game, so Miami will get some some twenty you know,
that's twenty points back if if he ends up playing
to what he can be. Nonetheless, my Miami is going

(47:43):
to shoot better tonight in my.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
Opinion, they better.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
And Andy, sorry to interrupt you, but Denver didn't shoot
all too well in game one either, Like the Denver
is going to play better too in game two, So
I I don't know how Like if Miami scores, if
miamis was one hundred and ten, are they holding Denver
under one hundred and ten if Denver plays a little

(48:08):
bit better too?

Speaker 1 (48:09):
Like?

Speaker 2 (48:09):
Probably not right, It's just it's just a difficult matchup
for Miami. And you know, heat, culture and all those
things are all true, but sometimes you can't overcome roster
officials with heat with culture, right.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
I agree, Denver is better and more than that. One
of the big storylines I've heard throughout the entire players
all these undrafted players on the heat. Let me tell
you something, they only have two rounds of a freaking draft,
so so it's not a big deal to have a
lot of undrafted players on your roster. I don't get it.
There's two freaking rounds of the NBA Draft, that's it.

Speaker 2 (48:44):
Yeah, I look, obviously the Heat have done a great
job of creating, you know, a culture of success at winning,
and you do at times need to have these these
unsung heroes, these role players, uh you know, come in
and make big plays for you at certain times, and

(49:04):
they do. They deserve credit. But but that just goes
into like, you know, feeding the narrative. Obviously, the Heat
to this culture, this ability to bring in undrafted guys
in the in the end, though, you know most of
the time that your best players are the ones that
you draft, and then of course you know that you
bring that you draft. So it's it's great, it's great
that they have some of these players stepping up, but

(49:27):
it's not gonna be enough to win a championship. And
that's the goal in the end, right it's win a championship.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
And the big story, at least in my mind, is
going to come after the NBA players are over, because
it's going to be a decision on John morand because
that Adam Silva right now says he's waiting for the
decision to announce it. After the playoffs. That means it's
gonna be a heavy decision, and I wouldn't be surprised.
And look, the kid was holding a firearm in social media,
not once, but twice, damaging himself, damaging the league. I'm

(49:55):
saying right now, if I'm the commissioner, I suspend them
for the season, and I'll tell you why. You need
to say an example set of president. He's going to
be the guy and it will never happen again with
any other player. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Well, so Andy, we're seeing I think that comes to
freshman pretty soon. Because when a commissioner says I can't
discuss a suspension because it'll take up too much air
and and take up the you know, the airwaves too
much during the NBA Finals, that to me feels like
it's pretty ominous, like it's going to be bad. And

(50:25):
you also have him saying that uncovered more things. I
don't know what that more means. I'm sure they will
announce that at the time. I think he's a We've
seen a fifty game suspension before for Arenus, right for
the incident when you have done in the walker room.
I think it was fifty games, Yes, I think we're
going to get at least fifty games here. And people

(50:47):
might wonder why. It's not because you can't own a
gun in America. People are, oh, gun, come on, get
out of here. No one cares about that. It's that
he is a he's a franchise player for an NBA team,
and he can't keep branshing guns on social media. Right.
You understand you can't do that. If you are a
CEO of a company and you do the same thing,

(51:09):
you're going to be disciplined. It has nothing to do
with his ability to own a gun. I think no
one would disagree he can own a weapon. It's the
fact that he's brandishing it on social media as some
sort of brag that I have this weapon on me
like that. That is a problem. If you are a
CEO of a company, and he really is a ceo.
He's the best player of the Grizzlies, so there will

(51:30):
be a message sent that this is not acceptable behavior
as an NBA superstar. And I think he will get
gonna be pretty, but he's gonna get to spend it
for a while.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
I ask you this though, Okay, I understand you could
own a gun in our card no doubt about that.
What if I or you one on social media branding
a gun, will we lose our job at Fox? I'm curious.
I mean, that's gonna have I don't own a gun,
so you know I.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
Have a few. He's not gonna He's not going to
lose his job. He would be suspended if we did that.
I think. I think we get a call from Scott okay, like,
what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (52:09):
Probably suspended. I don't think you lose your job.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
I think you lose Also depends on what we're doing, right, Like, Okay,
here's the thing though. If if me and you are
at a range shooting a weapon, which I've done before,
I've posted pictures of myself. I haven't done it in
a while, but years ago shooting you know, shooting firearms,
no one would blink an eye. We're trained, professor, We're
at a place with professionals. We are shooting weapons under

(52:34):
under the watchful eye of firearms experts. We're doing in
a safe environment. We're at a range. We're at you know,
indoor range, outdoor range. No one would blink an eye.
They probably you know, we get some weird com social
media about it. Fine, but you would never that. That's
the end of it, right Andy. But the difference is
is John Morant is doing it in a casual setting

(52:55):
in a car, right, like in a strip club like
it's it's it's one of things. It's like, dude, why
what need do you have in the car with your
buddy to pull out your firearm and wave it. We're
questioning his judgment about how he's displaying his weapon being

(53:15):
a high profile player for NBA team. We're not questioning
whether or not he's allowed to have the weapon or
whether or not he can fire a weapon. Again, go
to a range. No one would say a word. If
John Murrian posted a photo himself holding his firearm at
a range, shooting down range, nobody, no one would say
a word. No one would say a word about it.
But again, the way he's doing it is the issue.

(53:38):
And who he's doing it with and in the setting
he's doing it, that's the problem, guys.

Speaker 1 (53:43):
And how many kids who follow John Morant would look
at that and kind of like emulate that that's what
I worry about. You think I just don't know.

Speaker 2 (53:55):
I mean, I I think it's it's there are probably
some kids influenced by that I probably not that many.
That to me is not because John Masa on the
video like telling kids to do this, or I mean
the last video was was thirty seconds like you had

(54:17):
his buddy put his buddies on that. I just like
saw like and move the camera right away. I don't
think that's going to influence many youth to want to
brandish firearms in public.

Speaker 1 (54:30):
I would hope now you know, you're saying fifty games
and I could see that happening a fifty game suspension.
But I think what the NBA should also do is
have John Morant create public service announcements and put him
on TV and say I made a mistake, don't do this,
I'll never do it and things like that on an apology,
but a public service a message to just put it

(54:51):
on during the games.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
Yeah, I mean they're going to figure out some sort
of I would imagine he's got to go to counseling
and whatnot and and kind of, you know, figure out
his life off the court. I don't know if the
NBA is gonna get in the business of of making
those videos the p s as they've never done that
before to my knowledge, and I don't think then that's

(55:13):
gonna be a part of what again, because we're not
Because the NBA is not saying you can't own a weapon.
The NBA is saying, hey, buddy, you're you're the face
of a franchise. You're a young superstar. You know, brandishing
weapons like you are in these videos is not is
not what we're gonna do. Is is that, you know,
the leader of a franchise. So making a p s

(55:35):
A about gun ownership seems sob is not saying you can't.

Speaker 1 (55:38):
I made a mistake. I mean, like an apology thing.

Speaker 2 (55:40):
But even that, like I don't, I don't know, because
who's the apologizing to in that in that video. I
don't I think he'll do. He'll he'll serve a suspension,
He'll do the exact same thing he did. He'll do
an interview with someone associated NBA. Maybe it's even like
oprahs it down something like that, Right, he apologized in

(56:03):
that setting. I don't think he'll make you know, PSA's
and whatnot about that?

Speaker 1 (56:07):
Now I will I would go and recoond and say this.
I feel terrible for him because he's one of the
most exciting players in the NBA. He's one of the
few players I would pay to watch play, and it
hurts me to see someone going down the cropper like this.
They could have been avoided. That's a guy gets an injury, yeah,
so be it. But this he created himself, and it
hurts me if it was anybody else. Man, I feel

(56:27):
for the guy, but not as much as him because
he's an exciting player.

Speaker 2 (56:30):
And I think the NBA it feels like they're trying
to sort of because of his status as a player,
they're trying to do the best they can to help him,
to your point, kind of like navigate this part of
his life, right, And I know there's not always a
responsibility for your business to do that now right. I
mean you could argue that, hey, man, like just stay

(56:53):
out of it. It's not your job as a business
as a business to help your employees like that. But
I think for in sports, you're trying to save him
from himself.

Speaker 1 (57:02):
What I think is a small They did it the
first time. The only gave him an eight game suspension.

Speaker 2 (57:05):
Yeah that was it can be eight games.

Speaker 1 (57:08):

But one coach wanted to follow the Patriot way. That's next.
You need to be your own man. That's right around
the corner. He's Jeff Schwartz, He's his own man. I'm

(57:50):
Andy Furman and this is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox
Sports Ready, and we're talking about the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jeff for their head coach, Josh McDaniels said he wanted
to follow the Pai way. You know, his offensive coordinator
on the Patriots, on the Bill Belichick. When he got
to Vegas, what did he do? He got rid of
quarterback Derek Carr, and he signed his former Patriots quarterback
Jimmy Garoppolo three years, seventy two almost seventy three mil.

(58:14):
But Jimmy g has had some problem surgery, whatever it
may be on the footback in March is a bit concern.
But honestly, I look at what Josh McDaniels did. First
of all, I thought Derek Carr was a pretty darn
good quarterback. And why he dumped them, I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (58:30):
Well, he dumped him because he didn't like him. I mean, right, yeah,
like I mean as a person, he didn't like him.
That's why I dumped him. I mean, it's it's I
think it's in hindsight, it's gonna look really silly, but
that's why he did it, right.

Speaker 1 (58:43):
And I think for a coach to say he wants
to follow the Patriot, why, I just believe that coaches
have to be their own guy. As a player, you
knew if a coach wasn't his real stuff, If if
a coach was low key okay, and all of a
sudden he comes in screaming and yelling and cussing, you
know it's an act. You know, you gotta be real.
And I don't think Josh McDaniels at this point was

(59:03):
real saying he wants to be like Bill Belichick, you can't.
There's only one Bill Belichick.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
Bill Belichick gets away with being Bill Belichick because he
has won so many championships, Like that's why he gets
away with it, And you have to be able to
win at that rate to get away with it. And
Josh Maniels has not been able to do that, and
so he's not going to be able to be Bill
Belichick for that reason. Right.

Speaker 1 (59:30):
An example, and maybe you remember the man if not,
when Marv Levy coached the Buffalo Bills, Marv Levy was
like a professor as a gentleman. I don't think Marv
Levy raised his voice because that's him, that's his personality.
He can't go into the locker room and just go
crazy and drop f bombs at halftime because it's not him.
And players know that. I think players know, and you

(59:51):
know as a player, you know what to expect from
your coaches.

Speaker 2 (59:55):
Yes, absolutely, And I do feel like Josh McDaniels is
trying to do this pace in the Patriot way. What
is only works in the building, it doesn't work anywhere else.
And the insistence on doing that to me and be
your own guy, be your own personality. You don't have
to be this Patriots way. You don't have to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
What is the Patriots way? Maybe you could help me
out on that. Oh, that doesn't mean.

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
Whatever Bill Belichick says it means, which is again the
point of this all is that it's Bill Belichick, not
Josh McDaniels, and so be your own guy, man like.
And I think he's trying to be. But he's he's
hiring Tony Patriots, right like he's evolved in that process.

Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
And let's talk about this Jimmy Garoppolo situation with the injury.
He missed the OTA, he's got the foot injury. I mean,
I don't think a foot injury is that serious, but
he had the surgery in March. It could be a
while now for him to get his bearing straight.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Yeah, this is gonna look like a really foolish decision
to get rid of car for for for Garoppolo, who
is just not just not healthy at the moment. And
you know, I have a hard time with teams andy

(01:01:14):
that kind of lack of direction at quarterback, right because
we know how important that position is in all of sports. Right,
it's almost I would argue the most important pison in
all sports, and the Raiders to me, don't have a
long term answer at that position. And that really worries me. Right,
because Jimmy Garoppolo is a one year deal. He's a
one year deal, by the way, He's a one year deal, okay,

(01:01:37):
And and they don't have a future quarterback either, So
what are you doing next year at quarterback? Are you
drafting a guy? Because your point, Jimmy Garoppol is to
be competitive, you'll be too good to draft one of
these young quarterbacks. You got rid of Derek Carr, who
is reliable. It just feels like to have no direction
at quarterback, and that means you don't have a direction

(01:01:59):
as a franchise us.

Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Right, and you know what, we're about a month away
from the guys going to practice. I mean, this guy
right now is not throwing. He's not He's just read
this from his foot.

Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
The savior for them this year is going to be
their new part time owner. I'm not even sure you
can be an owner and play at the same time.
But until Tom Brady doesn't play this year, I think
everyone believes he's going to come back.

Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
But but the they say that. Let's get into that.
For said, because he keeps on saying there's no way
I'm playing and he denies it, so obviously he's not gonna.
I don't think he's going to play. But why do
the stories keep on surfacing that he's going to play?
He said he's not.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
Why Because I think he's retired before and come back,
and I think people will continue to believe he's coming
back until he actually does not. I think the Raiders
are not the team for him to come back to
because if you look at their offensive line and the
rest of their defense, like he he only came back

(01:02:58):
to Tampa because they have everything in place for him
to be really good. They don't have that at in Vegas.
I don't think he comes back to the Raiders. I
think it's fun to talk about, but it's not actually
gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
I think, if anything, he's gonna come back and play
for the Las Vegas Aces. That's what they'll do, and
w he's a power.

Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
There as well. Yeah, I don't think we're gonna end
up having that that happened, But it's fun to joke
about though.

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Yeah, but look, and you kind of set me straight
in this quarterback situation. I mean, we talk about teams
and who they're playing, who they're going to win. It's
not a question of the schedule. Just put up the quarterback.
It's quarterback versus quarterback. And Jimmy Garoppolo to me, is
not a franchise quarterback. And the story, I don't care
how much he plays.

Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
No, he's not. And that's why again I just don't
He's a one year solution, which again, a one year
solution to me is not franchise changing. And and they're
just in a nomansland. They're not in a situation where
they're any closer to being the team they want to
be because they have they have yet to figure out

(01:04:05):
the court back situation for the long term future. It's
a problem, man.

Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
It really is, you know. And there have been teams
that have been buried like that. And I feel bit
for Eric b Enemy in Washington because he's gonna be
buried like that too, right.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Saying that, I did a podcast this week about you know,
who are the worst? I had the worst off seasons?
I been washing up there now. Obviously great to get
rid of Snyder, but now of a quarterback for the future, and.

Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
I think it's gonna hurt Eric the Enemy, because they're
gonna say, well, well, you know, he couldn't be a
head coach. Look, he didn't do anything, but it's not him.
He doesn't have anything to work with. That's the problem.

Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
It really sinks that Eric enemy has to go this
route to be a head coach, because I agree, it's
not the route anyone else has to do, no.

Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
Doubt, no doubt about that. But we'll see. He's he's
a guy that should have been a head coach three
years ago. But absolutely, and I keep on hearing the
excuse like he wasn't good at interviews. What does that mean?
I mean, come on, really, I have no idea what
that means.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
I'm with you, no idea. Huh.

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
Thank you. Jeff Schwarz, Andy Furman, Fox Sports Sunday on
Fox Sports Radio, this loss proved to be a win.
That's coming up next on Fox Sports Sunday Live for
the tiraq dot Com studios. But first, he's Kevin Wyatt
with all the updates. Well.

Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
On Saturday, it was Game one of the Stanley Cup Final,
Vegas taking the first game of that seven game series
against the Florida Panthers. Five to two, was tied at
two goals apiece entering that third period, before Vegas scored
three unanswered to go up one to nothing in that
best of seven series. Game two set for Monday evening

(01:05:37):
in Las Vegas. In the NBA, Game two of the
Finals is tonight. Caleb Martin did not practice for the
heat yesterday. He had an illness and he missed practice
because of it, so it remains to be seeing what
his status will be for tonight's game. NBA news the
Nets hiring Kevin Ali to be an assistant coach. The
Suns keeping assistant coach Kevin Young on Frank Vogel staff,

(01:05:59):
and they're gonna portally make him the highest paid assistant
in the league this upcoming season. The Pelicans hiring James
Berego to be their assistant coach. ESPN reporting Terry Statts
will become an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NFL.
The Buffalo Bills signing defensive tackle At Oliver to a
four year extension that's worth forty five million dollars guaranteed.

(01:06:24):
French Open popular player Coco Goff winning her third round match,
and in golf, Roy McElroy in the lead. He's a
one shot ahead of a group that features Victor Hovlin
on the diamond. It's the big series between the Yankees
and the Dodgers. Game two saw New York win its
six to three to even that series at one game

(01:06:44):
a piece. Four home runs were hit by Yankee hitters,
including Aaron Judge. He hit his nineteenth of the season
while also making an outstanding defensive play in right field
during the eighth inning, crashing into the bullpen gate and
making a debt in the fence. Even other notable scores,
Blue Jays over the Mets two to one, Astros beat
the Angels nine to six, The Brewers beat the Reds

(01:07:08):
ten to eight. Pittsburgh over Saint Louis four to three.
The Philly snapping a five game losing streak with a
four to two win against the Nationals. The Texas Rangers
beat the Mariners sixteen to six as they improved now
to thirty seven to twenty. What a story they have
been this season. White Sox two to one winners against
the Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay splitting a doubleheader with the

(01:07:28):
Boston Red Sox, And in college softball, the Women's College
World Series, Oklahoma beat Tennessee nine nothing to advance to
Monday's semifinals. Get this, the Sooners have won a record
fifty games in a row.

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Back to you guys, thanks Kevity. In an hour, no
deal proved to be correct. We'll explain that in just
about a minute, we've crossed a fifty yard line and
what we call Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jeffschwitz, I'm Andy Ferman, and we're brought to you
by Progressive Insurance Progressive X Bundling easy and affordable. Got
a multi policy disc by combining your motorcycle, r, the
boat ATV and more, all your protection in one place.

(01:08:04):
Bundle and save at Progressive dot com. Now let's talk
about this deal. We got bona barrow betting coming up
in about six seven minutes from now. But the reports
this week say, talking about quarterbacks at the Eagles, quarterback
Jalen Hurts almost wasn't with the Eagles and wasn't their quarterback.
We'll explain. At one point during the twenty twenty two
off season, the Eagles were looking to replace Hurts with

(01:08:26):
Oh my goodness, Russell Wilson. Have you heard that? Have
you heard that?

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Saw this? I saw this, and man, did they dodge
a bullet the Eagles did. That's one of those things
when you're like, oh man, we got lucky that we
did not go through with this. Uh, because yike's Jalen Hurts. Obviously, Wow,
what a season, and you know, he blossomed into this

(01:08:52):
franchise level player and Russell Wilson has just taint. Now
the Eagles offense is was was far different than what
they ran in Denver last year. I mean, I think
Russell Wilson would not have been as bad. So I
surely don't think that we would have seen the same
Russell Wilson. But I think Eagles certainly have made the
right decision to keep Jalen Hurts over Russell. I get

(01:09:13):
there thinking and I don't think he would have been
as bad. But I mean, Jalen Hurts is just he's
the man man, and I think they got a huge bullet.

Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
Obviously, it was lucky. I'll tell you what, what a
year for Hurts and the Eagles. But because in the
off season the Eagles gave him five years two hundred
and fifty five mil well, which is unbelievable. I mean,
here's a guy that could have been in one foot
out the door and now he's got five years, two
fifty five and he's dead.

Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
Guy.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
You know what, But I'm thinking, like, with that offense
and with that defense, you know, I would say a
guy like Jimmy Garoppolo could succeed in the Eagles. Maybe
I'm crazy, you know, I just think that, but so
much right.

Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Yeah, sure, But the question becomes obviously, yeah, he can succeed,
but is he going to win you a super Bowl
in Philly? And the answer is probably no. Jalen Hurts
has the capability we saw last year. Obviously, nothing that
happened last season that Super Bowl could be traced back
to jail Hurts not been good enough to win you
a super Bowl. We've seen Jimmy Groppo's ruble for he

(01:10:10):
was not. He miss throws against the Chiefs that would
have won the nine of the Super Bowl. So I
think we can we can clearly that he's good. He's good,
but not good enough to win a super Bowl. I
think Jalen Hurts you cannot make the argument at all,
but he cost Eagles at all anything in the Super Bowl.
They scored thirty five points.

Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
Geez, But I ask you with you a football I
which I do respect that a lot. Going into the season,
Did you think the Eagles would be that good A
and B Jalen Hurts would be the guy?

Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
No, but I'm not sure the Eagles did either, and
he proved to be the guy. I think more than Look,
he improved, right like this is this happens, right, but
young players get better. He got better over the year,
and the Eagles did a great job of putting personnel
around him and getting him to the point where he

(01:11:00):
can be successful.

Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
And you know what, I will say this, You could
have the talent that God given ability, which Jalen Hurts has,
but if you don't have the personnel around you, I
think that's a major factor. Why do I say that.
I look at a guy like Kyler Murray, I mean
in Arizona, I mean the guy had everything, he had
all the tools, he had a couple of pieces on offense,
but other than that, I expected big things out of
him in the NFL and I'm not seeing it. And

(01:11:23):
he may be gone after this year.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Yeah. I don't think Klin Murray as good as Jalen
Hurts as though so as a as just a an
overall player.

Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
But if Kyler Murray had the Eagles talent.

Speaker 2 (01:11:37):
Would be he would be a lot better. But but
but here's the thing, though, Well, worries about Kyler Murray
is not on the field, right, it's you have you
have established veterans on his team coming out and saying, yeah, guy, guy,
that work a little bit harder, Like that's not good.
Like they had a clause in his contract, right, he
got removed about him? You know, studying enough. You never
hear that about Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
Hurts, you liked game.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
Buddy, You can play video games and also be a
study for for the for the test like he Obviously
there's a concern that the elmer is not as many
repair as he should be. Never concern with Jalen Hurts, man,
Jail Hurt seems like the best kid of all time.

Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
You know, look, I never played the game, and and
and you did. You've been there for eight years. How
much studying is required, how much studying goes into playing
professional football?

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Whatever you have to do to be the best player
you can be. There's no there's no set time, right,
And obviously the Cardinals did not feel like Hurts Accuse me,
Murray was putting in the right the right amount of
time to be prepared to play. It's different for everyone, man.

Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
But what does that mean reading the playbook, watching film?

Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
What is that? It's I think it's more about uh,
more about film, film study and and kind of translating
the plays to what you see on film, and just
being prepared for every sort of reaction, every sort of
look you might get in a game. And obviously Cardinals
have felt that that Murray is just quite it's just
not ready if it's not not doing that the job
he should be.

Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
And I would think maybe I'm way off based on this.
I would think that a quarterback has to see more
film than anybody else, looking at the defenses that will
be put up against him, how to react to that?
Where if your alignment and maybe maybe not that much.
You just know you have to block. That's what you
have to do.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Well, yeah, it's a little more compete than that. But yes,
we do not watch as much film as a quarterback would.
And that's correct. But I will say the center, the
center centers watch a ton of films. They got to
be on they got to them in the quarterbacks to
be in the same page. Man. So look, I think
that there is this NFL centers watch for offensive linemen.

(01:13:44):
They probably watch the most film.

Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Interesting. Yeah, it's funny because you don't. You don't picture
guys in a classroom stunning as much as you can.

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
When I watched that HBO show prior to the season,
you see a lot of that stuff going on, you know.
But it's serious business, it really is. But coaches really
have to be on top of these players to say, hey,
get your butt in the room. We got to watch
some film. And I don't understand why I haven't done
that right.

Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
Well, well no, but Andy, they shouldn't be right. That's
the point. Like, we're professionals. You shouldn't have to tell
us to be more prepared. And that's what they're telling
you about. Coler Murray is like, hey, dude, you're a professional,
Like we should have to tell you to be ready. Interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
Yeah, you're right. I mean, you're getting paid big bucks
you want.

Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
To No, no coach ever told me the right amount
of time to watch film. You learn how to watch
film from veterans, sometimes from coaches from veterans, and then
you have to figure out how much time that is.
Like my thing was always that I really wanted to
watch film with the facility, I didn't when I went home.
I'm home with my family, So I would either go

(01:14:50):
early in the morning, stay a little bit later and
watch the film I needed to watch at the facility,
So when I got home, that was home. So now
I would. Now, when we had the iPads my last
couple years in the NFL, you could watch film easier
at home. You used to have to pop in a
DVD and like watch film on DVDs on your you know,
like whatnot. So I have to find my personal how

(01:15:13):
how much from I need to watch for myself. No
coach told me you have to watch this much. This
is the mouth of film you watch to be good.
You live on your own. And it worries me that
the Cardinals have said, we don't think Kyler Murray is
as prepared you should be.

Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
That's an indictment, it really is. Jeff Schwartz, Andy Ferman,
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio, Luck Chance, whatever,
it's tough. It's botta barrel betting, and it's freaking next

Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
I'll put your brain to sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:16:13):
Yeah. And the ring Master, the big himself, Ethan Miller.

Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
How you doing all right, guys, Good to see you,
good to be here. Yes, yeah, my voice is a
little choppy. Keys. All right. Last week Jeff went three
and two and I hate to say it, Firman, you
went one and four.

Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
No surprise here.

Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
All right, well wait, wait a minute, Okay, we'll see.

Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
Let's let's chill, let's get a let's get a five
and oh all right, what do you say?

Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
We're gonna start off with some E sports, all right,
E sports. The it's call of duty, it's n say
versus mouse sports. Who do you guys?

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
Got sports again.

Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
I know first and twenty twenty three.

Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
No, you go, you're the champ. You go first?

Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
What are we playing? Now?

Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
Which one? Cad?

Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
What are my options? The first one? Give me the
second one because I didn't know. I didn't understand the name.

Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Of the first one and C so it's E N
C E n C idea, I'll give you the second one.
Mouse sports. That's cool. That mouth sports is cooler. All right,
Well you guys are split there, all right, cool, here
we go. Next, we're going to.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Go to.

Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
We are darts and we're gonna do the PDC Championship.
Michael van Gerwin versus Gerwin price, so to gerwins.

Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Yeah, so there I'm looking at right now. They're they're
the two favorites to win the cheatings.

Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
That's the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Yeah, look look at the odds. I can I can
actually wager on this. I'm offshore.

Speaker 3 (01:17:52):
Yeah, so one of them are actually projected to win.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Give me Michael van Gerwin.

Speaker 3 (01:17:59):
Yeah, I'm doing the and then you got the Gerwin price.

Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
No I don't. I'll go with Michael van Gerwin because
he's the favorite. What am I an idiot?

Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
I mean, come on, give me the other one that
give me price then, yeah, a slight favorite. You know,
I'm actually I might actually bet this right now.

Speaker 3 (01:18:14):
There, you got some on had a boy all right, Okay,
next we got the uh We're gonna go to handball Germany.
All right, these names are tough, geez Bert, No, I'm not.
We can't do that one.

Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
We're gonna do the uh that one started already.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Yeah, we can't do that one. We're doing the the
fresh off go pagin you see that?

Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, we'll do that, or the fush Berlin.
So straight up, just no, no, it's two and a half.
So andy, just let us know if you want to
take the two and a half or the minus two
and a half. I'm taking the minus two and a half, okay, minus.

Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
The plus then I see yeah, I'm actually ways during
this today.

Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
I join this one too.

Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
I'll be dead serious. Yeah, I just spend ten bucks
I took. I took plus this plus three and a
half here, I took it.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
That's that's good. Good for you. I may just do
the same, all right. I honestly, I'm just throwing this
out there because I want to know. I know you
guys been talking about it all morning. But let's just
do it really quickly. Heat or Nuggets eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
So I will take the Heat plus eight and a half.
But I actually like the over tonight. I actually I
rarely rarely bet overs. I just don't like them. But
I already bet the over on this game. I think
this goes over. But I'll take the nugg the Heat
plus eight and a half tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
So you've taken the Heat plus eight and a half.
I'm gonna take the Nuggets. I'm gonna give you the
eight and a half. The over Ruggets blow over.

Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
The over is my wager for tonight. I did take
the over in this game. Personally, I think the over.

Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
Is away that slump, but the Nuggets blow them out again.

Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
All right, Andy Ferman, you heard it, all right, We're
going to boxing a little couple jabs. All right, well
do uh uh Josh Taylor verse to Fimi Lopez. Now
Lopez is plus one fifty Tailors minus one ninety five.
That's the closest matchup we can do.

Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
Oh, this is this is yours. It is your genre.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
Andy, go ahead, I'm gonna good tailor minus one ninety five.
I take Josh.

Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
Taylor all right, I'm taking the Lopez.

Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
Here we go. All right, we'll see what goes on.
Good job, good job today. Hey, this guy could be
a hero. That's coming up next right here on Fox
Sports Sunday. Next.

installers tier raq dot com do I tire should be Okay,

(01:21:01):
we got the NBA players, But it's besides that. What
is on the sports doc for Jeff Schwartz Because they
say last night I was going a little crazy trying
to find something to watch, and I kind of landed
on Tennessee Clemson baseball, which was one hell of a game.
The other night I went crazy too, was on Friday,
I think, and they said the WNBA was on ion
ion io and TV. I never heard of it, and

(01:21:23):
I flipped on my TV I found it. There was
I on TV and I don't even know I had it.

Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
So today I will watch Stanford and Washington play softball
at three pm, mostly because that's sort of for my
job at Pack twelve Radio. I will have to talk
about it tiny bit on Monday or whatever. But I
like watching softball. My wife thinks it's weird. Softball is great, man,
it is fantastic.

Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
I'm amazed with the pictures. I can't believe what goes by.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
It's a two hour game with a ton of action.
It plays fast. I'll probably watch a little bit of
college baseball. Just Oregan plays I think tonight at nine o'clock.
If i'm I'm awake for that. But the heater on
tonight at eight o'clock, so I'll watch that. But during
the day I'll just fill it in with I'm I'm
not a big tennis guy. No golf excites me right now,
so whatever college baseball is all, I'll just throw on

(01:22:12):
the TV for the kids to watch.

Speaker 1 (01:22:14):
I watched a little bit of rugby too. Last night
I found on TV.

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
Yeah, yeah, I watched. I watched. I watched NHL last night.
I fell asleep pretty early last night. It was I was.
It was a long I was a long day. I
was out in the sun for a while to yesterday.
My kid had a His little league team went twelve
to oh this year. Unfortunately did They did lose in
the playoffs and kind of like you know, when you
have your you know that that's saying andy in sports

(01:22:39):
where you kind of want to like lose a game
before the playoffs because you get all kind of like
the bad juju out in that game. This is certainly
the case. Like their team was so good this year.
The closest game was three runs they won this year.
Otherwise they bleue teams out. They allowed only four runs
in an inning one time all season. That was it.

(01:23:01):
Four runs was the max day allowed in any inning
all season and nothing bad every like they're that good, right.
They had a kid in their team that batted eight fifty.
What he got on base nine basements was nine to twelve. Okay,
he was incredible. He won the league MVP yesterday, as
he should. He's incredible. It was in creating incredible season.

(01:23:21):
They were just better everyone else. They never even when
bad things happened, it was immediately followed by good things. Okay,
and then everything bad happened. In one playoff game they
lost by a run on Tuesday night, so they got
but they got honored. Yesterday, anyways, we went to the
championship game, and then of course the team that beat
him got blown out of the judge of game. So
I was you know, I was in the sun for
a while. Yesterday. We had a party. Yesterday's baseball team

(01:23:41):
came over for a party yesterday, So I passed the
early loss. I didn't watch it any of the hockey game.
I watched one inning of Oregon game. But tonight, you know,
the heat is on. It to eight o'clock, thankfully on
the East coast, so I'll be up. Uh, I'll be
up to watch it. I'm on the morning.

Speaker 1 (01:23:54):
Was funny because you argued last week on social media
that you thought last week's seventh game should have been
at three starting in the afternoon rather in the evening.

Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
Say absolutely, Yes, he's such a beautiful day. Why want
to Yeah, it was beautiful Saturday too. We can watch
them basketball during the day I'm with you. I would
do three thirty again today. Why what happened to the
day game? Andy? What's wrong to play a game during
the day.

Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
Because it's ninety three degrees here and I could lay
out in the sun.

Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
That's why you can lay on the sun and watch
basketball the same time. How about that and go to bed.
I'm I'm doing two pros and Joe help of Joe
tomorrow with with LeVar at six am. I'm glad to do.
There was a lot of fun on Friday we do
with him. And but yeah, I mean I would if
I'm getting up at five thur in the morning, I
would like to go to bed before ten. I would

(01:24:41):
like to do that now tonight the game will be
over probably about ten thirty, so I'll be able to
do that close enough to ten. But like, give me,
like I want a little bit asleep beforehand. And and
I feel like some nights, like with the wait all
your point is like what's on today before the main
event and put the main event at three thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:24:58):
Well, that's not gonna have because it is more eyeballs
at night there during the day, that's what they say.

Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
Yeah, Sunday night, there's more eyeballs than Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:25:05):
During the day, I would think of Sunday. You know,
people have family dinners, they're going to church whatever it
may be.

Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
Thirty church is done. We're Jewish, buddy, but we know
what time church is at Church is over by that time.

Speaker 1 (01:25:16):
I don't go to church.

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Yeah, we don't go to church. But I live the
South Man, I know, I live by I legit can
walk to two churches within three minutes of my house.
I I well.

Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
They're all home by twelve oh one, aren't they all over?

Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, like you're home. Put the game about
twelve thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
Okay, speaking of that, The NBA Finals are today eight
o'clock easternton I Game two, first round of the play
By the way, there's maybe a new wrinkle to the
playoffs to night beck Ulus if you remember well, Miami
played Milwaukee in the first round of the playoffs entirely
hero of the heat dove for a loose ball and
he fractured his right hand. He went under surgery is
expected to miss six weeks. He averaged like twenty points

(01:25:55):
a game for them, shot like fifty six percent from
the field. He maybe playing tonight. Excuse me, he made
me playing tonight. He got the ok to play, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:26:04):
I mean, what do we expect from him in the
first game back after an injury on the right? I
don't I just don't know what to expect from I mean,
he averages about twenty points a game in the record season. Obviously,
if you were to get you know, twelve to fifteen.
But then also you've had some role players really do
a good job of filling in during this time, and
they're gonna get less minutes now, So what are you

(01:26:25):
gonna get from those role players that are playing less now?
Like you could see it affect the way their bench plays,
which has been such a big part of what they've
been good at. But the thing that I am most
concerned about for the Heat is you have to stop
Denver's offense. Denver's offense got whatever they wanted in the

(01:26:46):
first three quarters of that game. They scored twenty points
a fourth quarter. And Denver's we've seen Denver throughout the
playoffs when they have a big lead in the fourth quarter,
they kind of pack it in a little bit. They
don't have great fourth quarters. Happened a lot in the
Lakers series, but they won those games because they were
up there, just leading by so many you know, by
so many points. Are you going to hold Denver to
under one hundred and ten points? And the answer I

(01:27:08):
would think of Denner again, Denver played a B game
on offense, right, KCP at under ten points? What did
Murray have? Murray had in the mid twenties, I think,
Jo twenty seven, You're just not gonna Are you gonna
hold them down? Are you going to stop their offense?
And the answer to me is no. And I even
though tall hero is coming back, I'm mu sure that

(01:27:28):
matters as much. The game might be closer, but in
the end, the Nuggets have just there's better.

Speaker 1 (01:27:35):
Well, look, he is scoring. Heroes scoring could be valuable
against Denver. And it does make Miami a little deeper
now because you got Truce Robinson and those two guys
missed a combined thirteen and fourteen shots on Thursday night.
So we'll see what happens now. But Jimmy Butler's got
to come to play, you know fourteen Look, yeah, thirteen
points on fourteen shots and he didn't attempt to free throw.

(01:27:55):
I mean that that's unbelievable. Now, Again, like you said
early on, sometimes after a set gain, there's a bit
of a letdown because you drained. So we'll see what
happens tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
Yeah, and the heat take. I think they attempted the
second the second what's the word, I say, the second.
Least amount of shots inside five ft this this year,
so they don't get to the line that much because
they're not as aggressive as as other teams. Right. We
know that, you know, try to finish around the rim
tends to lead to more foul shot opportunities and Jimmy

(01:28:25):
Butlers after game one that they're going to try to,
you know, to to get you know, get to the
rim more. But the length, the length everyone on Denver
is long, man, They're so long, right, and the length
is really bothering. There's not you know, you you would
love for like Bam to guard you know, to guard

(01:28:48):
Aaron Gordon and then have someone else to guard Joker,
but they don't have they don't have those players, man,
So Bam is on Joker, which is a mismatch, you know,
it's they're not as big as Joker obviously, and then
you have who's on Gordon. It's small forward. You can't
do that, right, and that's just it's just it's a
bad matchup for the Heat, and I think they keep

(01:29:09):
the game closer tonight because that's the way the NBA
typically works.

Speaker 1 (01:29:12):
That's a pretty big spread eight and a half, though.

Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
It was eight and a half Game one two, and
that was obviously covered with these I think we see
a closer game tonight, but in the end we see
Denver win. I think Miami probably wins Game three, and
then Denver wins the game four and five and it's done.

Speaker 1 (01:29:28):
The funny thing is, I mean, maybe I'm mistaken, but
we don't get a chance to see a lot of
Denver basketball on TV on a national stage. You know,
during the season. It's Lakers, it's Boston, maybe the Knicks.
I didn't see him much, but I'm really happy that then,
because I'm seeing Jokic how great he is. He was
not even bothered by being fronted or being double team

(01:29:49):
It didn't bother him at all. This guy's one hell
of a player.

Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
It's because his game is more than just being able
to to, you know, to score. He had six assists
in the first quarter, right like he's a he's a
he's a team player. He is not in it for
himself and when you have a player like that that
doesn't force things, the lessons come to him and just
it opens up the entire offense for everyone else. Right,
everyone else is able to play freer and have better

(01:30:17):
shot opportunities because the ball it's not it's not a pit.
You're not throwing the ball into into Joker and the
ball is just stagnant and he's trying to do too
too much. He's taking what's there for the team and
it really makes everyone else better on his team.

Speaker 1 (01:30:30):
Man, Well, it's hard for Miami. What they need to
do is attack the room to score in the paint,
but they can't. I don't know if they can. They
got to do, but.

Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
It's not their game. And there again, a lot of
their superstars, assuming they're they're being not superstars, their bench players,
the guys, and their fringe that that rightfully deserved a
ton of praise for what they've done up into this postseason.
They played like themselves last night, right, Miami guys. This
year was negative point differential in the regular season, so
their opponents scoring more points than they did, which is

(01:30:58):
very rare for a team of that With that lack
of success in the point differential to be in the finals.
It doesn't happen.

Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
You know. I think that you may see a little
more of Kyle Lowry Kyle Lowry tonight for the Miami
Heat because he had a couple of three three pull ups,
and I think that's what they need. I mean, they
got to open it up a little bit. They can't
screw inside. I think Lowry might be the guy, but
you know, at thirty seven years of age, I think
for the time has cut up to him, and he's
had like one good game out of three. So you

(01:31:28):
don't know what you're gonna get with Lowry when it
comes on the court, but I think you may at
least I would think that Spolster may try to run
with Lowry a little more, see what he's got well.

Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
I think again, this is the difference between the teams,
right in my opinion, offensively, is that Denver knows what
they're getting from their two best players, and then they
have enough role players like Aaron Gordon to fill in
the gaps right in a given game. Now, Casey p
didn't shoot terribly well, Porter and shoot terribly well in
game one, I expect those guys to shoot better in

(01:31:59):
game two. But you know, what you're getting from your
top two guys, and there's gonna be a couple guys
fulling in the you know, the the other other points
on Miami. Right now, you're relying on Jimmy Butler, who
didn't play as well in Game one. And then let's
see the other two or three guys who step up
who typically aren't in those roles. And it was Caleb
Martin in the Eastern Conference Finals. Now maybe Tyler heroes

(01:32:21):
that guy tonight. And you know, Bam, Bama and bamat
twenty eight points in the Game one. The Nuggets were
fine with him scoring, like they were like cool man,
like you get you get twos, we'll get threes whatever.
As long as you're not hitting threes, we don't care
if you score. But BAM's not reliable every game, Like
like like Murray and Joger, the Heat don't have a

(01:32:42):
reliable one two that makes it difficult for you to
win a championship. Right, I mean the Lakers we saw
this in against the Nuggets. Right, they have sort of
a reliable one too, but not really with Davis and
then who's your third guy each game? The Nuggets have
those players established in place. They know their roles that
to make him so hard to beat.

Speaker 1 (01:33:04):
Well, you're two about the hero. He shot almost thirty
thirty seven percent. I think it was on threes this year.
For these he could help. But I'm amazed at a
guy who fractured his wrist six weeks ago in the
Milwaukee series is ready to come back at full strength
and play tonight. That amazes me.

Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
Yeah, you know modern medicine, the will to want to play,
and I think two, if this is the regular season,
they might give him one more week, two more weeks,
but this is their season.

Speaker 1 (01:33:31):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
If he can play and produce it all, he's better
than what they currently have. And so I understand the
need and the want to try to rush him back
to get him on the court right.

Speaker 1 (01:33:44):
And as I said early on, it would give Miami
a deeper bench as well, So that's not bad. But
I will tell you this, I didn't realize this during
the Miami Celtics series, but right now I'm sorry that
Miami won because I think Boston Denver would have been
a better Finals than Myami Denver.

Speaker 2 (01:34:01):
I don't want to see Boston play a collection of
players that you know are talented but don't have it together.
I'd rather watch the heat play, I think at this time,
than than the Celtics.

Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
What do you mean they don't have it together? I
mean they just I mean is that coaching? I mean,
I'm surprised that Missoula and the Okay to come back.
To be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
I'm not because, Okay, Andy, when you fire a coach, right,
the goal is to find a better coach, right, is
to find a better coach. At this point, if you're
firing Missoula, who is the better coach you're hiring because
all those guys have been hired, you know, you're not
hiring Doc right, No, maybe maybe Money Williams would be

(01:34:41):
the upgrade, but Nick Nurse was gone, right, you know,
the coaches have been have been been bought up. They're
they're they're they're they're taken. So and I think too,
this is Missoula's first year. He got the job sort
of in a scandal situation for Theeltics. Right, His assistant

(01:35:02):
coaching staff was not put together in a way that
really helps him with success, Like he didn't have any
of those of those former coaches on his staff, Like
give him a better staff. He got to the Instern
Conference Finals, wasn't it wasn't a bad team. Give him
better staff, give him better supporting cast around him, And
I think that that's what they're baking on.

Speaker 1 (01:35:22):
And I think he needs a veteran assistant coach to
be with him on the bench.

Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
Right, which is what they agreed, and they need to
do that, and they so think they're going to do.

Speaker 1 (01:35:31):
That this year, which tells me he's not qualified to
hire an assistant coach. The Celtics will hire a coach.
He's not going to hire his assistant. The Celtics will
do that for him.

Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
Probably not. He's thirty three years old. How many assistants
do you think he knows?

Speaker 1 (01:35:44):
That's true, that's true, but yeah, but still in all
I was surprised. But again with the length that Boston
has with Robin Williams and Al Halford, I think they'd
give Denver a better matchup than miamism.

Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
No, Boston is certainly better. I might disagree with you there,
but I feel like they had a chance to win
this series against the Heat and they just didn't do it.
Like they're not playing better at the moment then is
you know? Then then Miami. So I'd rather have the
better team who's playing better at the moment, which is Miami.

Speaker 1 (01:36:19):
Well, we'll see what happens tonight. I think that I
wouldn't be surprised if Denver sweeps in four. I really wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
I think. I think I even wouldn't Game one. I mean,
I mean game three, I should say the first time
I went home.

Speaker 1 (01:36:33):
Yeah, well could be we'll see. You know again, I
don't see. Maybe I'm mistake. I just don't see the
excitement that I saw getting blushed in Miami as I
see in this series. I don't know why. I just
don't get it. I mean, I'm gonna watch it. I
enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
They're not. They're not. You know, look, look at the
NBA is gonna It's about to enter a world where
Lebron and Steph Curry are not going to carry the
league in these finals, right, which have mostly they've been
the you know, the superstars that have carried the last
ten years of finals, right right. This is what the

(01:37:10):
NBA is gonna be, and you have to accept it
as a fan. The NBA has to embrace it. But
but Yoka just he he don't he doesn't want to
be the face of the NBA, like you can't. I
don't think you know, he's gonna be the guy who's
going to replace the superstar. I think they're hoping that
Webbin Yama it's good enough to become that guy, right,
like got to they're hoping, you know, Jannis obviously superstar,

(01:37:34):
great personality. I mean, he could be that player as well, possibly,
but you know, it's no offense to Milwaukee. But he's
in Milwaukee, right, I mean, you have the superstars we've
seen have been Lebron in Miami and and then back
in Cleveland obviously, but he was already known then Los Angeles,
Steph Curry and California and San Francisco, big cities, big markets.

(01:37:55):
We don't kind of we don't have that at the
moment the NBA, and I think that's what we're seeing
right now.

Speaker 1 (01:38:00):
There you go, Jeff Schwartz, get him on Twitter at
Jeff Schwartz. Had Andy Furman FSR eight seven to seven
ninety nine on Fox. That's our phone number. We'd love
to hear from you. Eight seven to seven nine nine,
six sixty three sixty nine. They've got the blame game
at the bottom of this hour right now, we'll tell
you who really dominated that first game.

Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
That's next, WYAMC paying a bunch of money, We'll get
Frages to come to us, Right, we'll get with a
different time. That's what it is. I think, Right, you're
trying to attract Fragus by selling stability with a head
coach of Manny Williams.

Speaker 1 (01:38:32):
Other than that, I can't figure it out. Like yes,
I mean you look at a guy like Joe Missoula
who's thirty three years old, who never coached in the NBA,
and he took a team to the Division finals. So
maybe it's not the it's not the coaches. It's got
to be the personnel. But again, he a veteran coach.
Maybe like Amanti Williams could have gotten more out of
the Boston Celtics because the way they play down the

(01:38:54):
stretch and the lack of timeouts at times that Missoula
did not call kind of bothered me as a spectator.

Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
Missoula has to learn, right, he is his first year
as a head coach at any level. I think Andy
he will learn had to be a better coach this
offseason and in returning year two as a better coach.
That's tough, man, your first time as a head coach,
and you have no support in the bench from coaches
that have done this before. You have a youngish roster,

(01:39:23):
like when your superstars are young and sometimes inconsistent. I
think this is hard. It's hard. He got a pretty
freaking far man he did.

Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
And what I read postgame quotes from Jason Tatum, I
was shocked to see that he had nothing but kindness
to say. You know, sometimes if a player doesn't like
a coach, he'll basically say nothing. Most of the time,
you won't bedmouth the coach, but he won't say anything.
But Jason Tatum was glowing and saying that he did
a great job where he liked him. So that's good rapport.

(01:39:55):
As far as jaln Brown, I'm not so certain he's
going to be a Celtic much longer.

Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
What are you if you let him go? What do
you do? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:40:06):
He MutS big money though max contract. I mean, I
just don't know. I mean, he's Tato's gonna Guy's gonna
lead the team. He's the guy. And I think that
there's gonna be some revamping of that roster. And I
think Al Harford has seen better days. I think he's gone,
he's too old. I just don't see much in al
Horford anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
No, but I think if you don't pay Brown, what
do you do? That's the problem.

Speaker 1 (01:40:29):
I don't know. I just theyve got some decisions, they
really do. But we'll see what they get in the draft,
if they get anybody. But who knows anyway. Jeff Schwartz,
Andy Furman, Fox Sports something on Fox Sports Radio. This
new sports league is hot and it's next. But first,
speaking of hot, here's Kevin Whittt with all your sports
Well that's an app description right there. There you go.

Speaker 4 (01:40:52):
Anyway, who's hot right now? Is the Vegas Golden Knights
in Vegas as a whole. I mean, it's not just
summer coming up right now. Vegas getting a fight to
win against the Florida Panthers Game one of the NHL
Stanley Cup Final. It was tied at two at the
end of two periods, and in that third period, Vegas
scoring three unanswered to take that one nothing lead in

(01:41:12):
the best of seven series, with Game two set for
Monday night in Las Vegas. Game two of the NBA
Finals set for tonight. Caleb Martin of the Heat did
not practice yesterday Dude lanillis so his status for tonight
up in the air. NBA news and Nets hiring Kevin
Ollie to be an assistant coach. Sons keeping assistant Kevin

(01:41:34):
Young on their staff for Frank Vogel, and he will
reportedly be the highest paid assistant in the NBA this
upcoming season. NFL news of Buffalo Bill's giving defensive tackle
at Oliver a four year extension worth forty five million dollars.
Tennis the French Open, Coco Goff winning her third round matches.
She moves forward. In golf, it's Rory McElroy tied for

(01:41:55):
the lead of the Memorial Victor Hovlin in a group
that is won at stroke back. Major League Baseball Yankees
Dodgers that big series out in Los Angeles, New York,
winning at six to three to even it at one
game apiece. Garrett Cole seven to zero as he picks
up the win. Four home runs hit by New York,
including Aaron Judge he got number nineteen of the season.
Also made an outstanding defensive catch, running into the bullpen

(01:42:19):
gate and right field and even leaving a dent in
the fence. Other notable baseball scores Blue Jays over the
Mets two one. Astros beat the Angels nine to five.
The Brewers beat the Reds in Cincinnati ten eight. Pittsburgh
over Saint Louis four to three. The Phillies end a
five game losing streak against the Nationals, beating them four
to two. The Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners sixteen

(01:42:42):
six is They improved a thirty seven to twenty on
the season. White Sox beat the Tigers two to one,
Tampa Bay splitting a doubleheader with a Boston And in
college softball the Women's College World Series, Oklahoma beats Tennessee
nine to nothing to advance to the semi finals. But
what's notable about that is that the Sooners have won
an all time record fifty games in a row.

Speaker 1 (01:43:05):
Back to you guys, Thanks, keV, have a great day.
Now it's finally exposed. That's coming right up. He's Jeff Schwartz.
I'm Andy Furman. This is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox
Sports Ready, and we're brought to you by Progressive Insurance.
Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable. Got a multi policy
discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more,
all your protection in one place, bundle and say at

(01:43:25):
Progressive dot com and we have the blame game coming
up in about eight minutes from now. But get this this,
this is a little bit of PG. Little PG here.
Former Sports Report of Holly Saunders is now the commissioner
of a new sports league, Exposed Sports spo RTZ, which
includes Instagram and only fan models participating in Get this

(01:43:47):
topless matches. Okay, she's a former Golf Channel and Fox
Sports host. She's been dating Hall of Fame box A
Oscar de la Hoya, and she launches the lead this
month with ten women competing in seven to eight sports
and activities, and she says she has yet to identify
the women, but they said they will wear little to
no clothing and bikinis while participating in chess, twister, bowling, tennis, basketball,

(01:44:14):
ping pong, jump rope, billiards and more activities. What are
your thoughts on this, Jeff Schwartz.

Speaker 2 (01:44:20):
Andy, I don't have time to watch real sports that
are important in life, like that people care about, you know,
like Premier League soccer. There's a big tennis tournament right now,
right what French Open is that happening?

Speaker 1 (01:44:35):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
Now right, there's golf each weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:44:38):
There's a OOF.

Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
It's in Dublin, right, Dublin, Ohio where the golf turnament's at,
Not to be confused with Dublin, Ireland. You know, I
don't have time some times to watch on the NBA,
like the baseball, I like Andy. Even if I have
interest in this type of a sporting event, I don't
have time to watch any of it. And I have
a zero interest in this. This is for a certain

(01:45:03):
type of audience, not me, not you. Yeah, zero interest
in this. I didn't know this existed to you told
me about it, and.

Speaker 1 (01:45:11):
I read about it the other day. I thought it's
interesting to bring enough for it. And I tell you
why I brought it up. I don't know where the
women are and the activists protesting this, exposing women for
their body and not their minds. I mean maybe when
it first, maybe when it starts later this month, there'll
be some protesting. And I don't know if it's going
to be on TV.

Speaker 2 (01:45:30):
I doubt it because Indy, because because the people this
is targeting are not the people that protest those type
of things like this is not the audience. We know
the audience who's going to be that audience is not
gonna is not gonna protest this, and then again it's

(01:45:52):
not a big enough thing to protest. Plus again, you
pretty much know what you're signing up for, right, Like
you know you're getting in this type effect in the
step of a sporting event. No one's going to complain
about it.

Speaker 1 (01:46:06):
I don't understand, and maybe you know, maybe I'm what's
the word I'm looking for? Well, I know is this.
I'm not going to watch it. I wouldn't watch it.
I have no desire to watch it. But I don't understand.
I don't think I have met a woman in my
entire life that would be willing to do something like this.
That's all I'm saying. Well, you got to be a
certain kind.

Speaker 2 (01:46:28):
As you read it's it's it's you know, it's the
only fans crowd. Which again I'm not knocking anyone who
does that.

Speaker 1 (01:46:36):
That is right either.

Speaker 2 (01:46:37):
You can make a great living doing that. I'm all
four that concept of only fans. Like, if that's the
way you want to make money, great like this is
a country to do that, right, go ahead and make
your money. But those are the models that are performing
in this as you said, And so that's the crowd
they're attracting. It's not the crowd that and you are in.

(01:46:58):
And we want to understand why they're doing it, but
they're obviously doing it because they feel like they can
make money. And good for them.

Speaker 1 (01:47:04):
I have still desire to watch a topless woman play.

Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
Chess on it just won't it just won't be the
money for me and you.

Speaker 1 (01:47:10):
Right, there was a preview the other day of the
tennis uniforms. They're gonna wear a thong skirt, a crop
top with an exposed sports logo on the back.

Speaker 2 (01:47:20):
Right, kids, I am all for making money. Make your
money doing this event.

Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
It's not interested in it, right, And look again, you know,
God bless you if you want to make money. That's
the way we are in society. There's going to be
a niche for this for some people. Maybe on TV,
I don't know, but someone will watch.

Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
Some of the only fans of Model I make a
lot of money. Man, it's a legitimate business model. Good
for them, it's not not it's not for me. They
made money for me. I spend enough money on my wife.

Speaker 1 (01:47:55):
I'm not gonna spend I just I just wonder if
they're having this league now for the women, are the
men going to be? NeXT's going to be a naked
men's league?

Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
I mean there should be right for I would I
think people participation, right, someone like myself. I mean I
have the ideal the ideal body hair to make this.

Speaker 1 (01:48:16):
Happen, and I would watch to see you really, I would.

Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
Naked playing chess.

Speaker 1 (01:48:20):
Yeah, No one wants to watch my partner.

Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
No one wants to watch that. Yeah, so I have
got to play chess too, which is the thing.

Speaker 1 (01:48:27):
I would think that within a month we may be
discussing the failure of this league, the exposed league.

Speaker 2 (01:48:33):
But I'd be okay if we never talked about this
league again.

Speaker 1 (01:48:36):
No, I'm with you now. It was just something different
than's something new and just hit the sports scene. It's
just another sport activity and we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
This is, This is a This feels very much like
a sporting event we would have seen during COVID could
be Yeah, people were trying to like, you know, we
we were so thirsty to watch anything. We were watching,
you know, Internet personalities play video games because there was
nothing else on. Right. This does not feel like something

(01:49:06):
that's gonna be watched much, I don't think, so. Good
luck to them, good luck.

Speaker 1 (01:49:10):
I wish they may get better ratings than bowling on television.
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
I don't know what bowling rings are. I'm not up on.
I don't want on the national bowling scene. Andy, I'm
not gonna lie. I barely have time to watch. You know,
some sports I really do like.

Speaker 1 (01:49:25):
I hear you, all right, we move on. We just
wanted to give them a little bit of mention over there,
the Exposed Sports League, which is getting underway later this month.
Jeff Schwartz, Andy Furman, Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports.
Right now, we always point fingers in the blame game,
and you know what it's next, the blame game coming
right up right here on Fox Sports Sunday East. Jeff Schwartz,

(01:49:47):
I'm Andy Furman, and we're live from the tierraq dot
Com studios. By the way, it's about thirteen minutes before
the top of the hour, and at the top of
the eye, which will be nine am on the East coast,
Mike Harmon and Ryan Hollins will join you right here
Fox Sports Radio. But right now, it's time for the
blame game, ruin me.

Speaker 6 (01:50:05):
It's all your fault.

Speaker 1 (01:50:07):
It's your fault.

Speaker 5 (01:50:08):
It is all your fault.

Speaker 6 (01:50:13):
Maybe it's everyone's.

Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
Faults, the liar.

Speaker 2 (01:50:16):
That's why there's the blame game.

Speaker 1 (01:50:19):
Let's figure out who to blame. There you go and
your host, We're gonna blame him that big game.

Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
All right, I got some easier questions today for you.

Speaker 1 (01:50:27):
What do you mean you always ask me you want
to let some steam off today?

Speaker 3 (01:50:32):
All right, you already, we'll start. We'll start off with,
you know, like a level question three. Who is to
blame for the narrative of the Heat and Nuggets not
being an entertaining series?

Speaker 6 (01:50:48):
No one?

Speaker 1 (01:50:49):
Is it? You guys? Or is it?

Speaker 2 (01:50:51):
I mean it's Lebron, Lebron. That's Lebron. He's not in
the finals this year, Lebron. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:50:56):
I'll tell you what though, I blame every player that
is not in the finals is saying it's boring and
they should be in the mons. Lebron, everybody on the
LA Lakers, every Celtic player, but the media as well,
because I think they blame it not entertaining because of
the market size. They're blaming Denver as a small market
team and that they think it's gonna hurt the league,
so obviously it's not ed attaining. They know nothing about

(01:51:18):
the Denver Nuggets, nothing whatsoever. That you know why they
know nothing because if they knew something about it, Yokis
would have been the league MVP, not Joel embiid.

Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
Well, I think the league MVP conversation, I think people
get get really they get bored with picking the same
the same player all the time. But that's that's more
I think I have to do with it. Everything else.

Speaker 1 (01:51:45):
I thought it was a joke when Doc Rivers basically
went public and said Joel Embii should be the MVP.
You know what, though he got the m v P,
but Doc lost his job, so there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:51:54):
You know what, As a matter of fact, let's let's
segue into that. Who is the blame for the process
not working in Philadelphia?

Speaker 2 (01:52:04):
The players? I don't know the players that I don't
know who.

Speaker 1 (01:52:10):
I wouldn't say this. I don't think they used to
turn the process. I don't think they know what the
process means. It's kind of like the Patriot Way.

Speaker 3 (01:52:17):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (01:52:17):
They don't know what it is?

Speaker 2 (01:52:18):
But Ben Simmons, right, then Simmons.

Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
Yeah, he's and then Brett Brown and Sam Hanky that
whole thing.

Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
Didn't It didn't work.

Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
No, and they changed general managers as well. I mean,
the process has to be consistent with consistent personnel and
people working, and they just they'd different pieces. You can't
do it changes.

Speaker 3 (01:52:42):
All right, We're gonna go to a level eight question.
This is a little tougher, fascinating topic here. There's a
lot of youth sports going on, you know, with you know,
Harmon kids and Gargano's kids, and so I thought of
this question. Youth sports are extremely expensive, and I'm just
curious on your guys' opinion. Why do you guys think

(01:53:04):
that youth sports are becoming so expensive and it's becoming
a like kind of like a privilege to play.

Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
Oh well, I mean everything's more expensive now, feels like, right,
But it's a good question. It should be more affordable.
I think a lot of it is because parents have
convinced themselves that youth sports is the beginning of the
process to get their kid a scholarship for sports to college,

(01:53:34):
which I understand because college is very expensive, and so
there becomes more attention to buying the best gear, to
making sure your kids in travel ball to making giving
them the access they need to get in front of
coaches stuff. That stufftimpically costs money. You can play in
a rect league for near next to nothing like in.

Speaker 1 (01:53:55):
In youth sports like that, but that's the problem.

Speaker 2 (01:53:58):
You go play the one. But the thing about it, though,
is that if you're good enough, you will be good
enough in high school and you will get seen and
you will get a scholarship offer. Right, it doesn't have
to start at seven years old. And that's part of
it is there's a thirst to, like, start so early
and buy your kid the best I just finished the
league baseball, right, like buy I hit the best baseball bat.

(01:54:20):
I bought my kid a reasonable base was like eighty
nine dollars because he's learning how to hit. He doesn't
need a three dollars baseball bat. He'll he'll hit the ball.
You won't hit the ball. Nothing to do with the
baseball bat. It's silly to me that we've gotten to
a point where it's so competitive at an early age
to get that scholarship.

Speaker 1 (01:54:39):
Parents want the pot of gold. There's not so much
a scholarship. They want them to go further than that.
They want to pro contract and they'll do everything they
can't to add that kid do that. I at these
AAU traveling teams.

Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
Now, oh, I know, buddy, I didn't and I didn't
do any of that as a kid. I did very
I would like would one travel baseball tournament the summer,
things like that. Never one basketball tournament a summer. Never
just spent my entire time doing kind of doing those circuits.

Speaker 1 (01:55:06):
I'm with you there, I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
Good conversation, good conversation. Now, right before we get off air,
I have one more question for you guys. Who is
the blame for the Raiders letting Tom Brady get partial ownership.

Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
He's no blame.

Speaker 3 (01:55:28):
Yeah, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
If he's an owner, it gonna be good for him.

Speaker 1 (01:55:31):
I don't think it's a blame factor. I think it's
a great move because obviously he could answer something to
the ball club. Obviously he's gonna be attached to the
Las Vegas Aces, to the same ownership. So I think
it was a natural move to go from the Aces
to the Raiders. I mean, the same owner, right, This
is no big deal. So I don't think it's a
blame factor. I mean something he wanted he's still involved

(01:55:54):
with the sport he loves and he doesn't have to play.

Speaker 2 (01:55:57):
Yeah, there's there's no problem with him being an owner.

Speaker 1 (01:55:59):
I think I know, and I don't know how much
input he's really gonna have really maybe on a draft. Say,
I don't know. I don't think i'm much.

Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
He's a minority owner, Andy, he owns a tiny percent
of the franchise. It's just to have Tom Brady to
say he's part owner's name doesn't doesn't own a big
part of the franchise.

Speaker 1 (01:56:15):
And I'd be surprised if he even attended every home game.
I don't think he'll be at every home game in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (01:56:20):
No, he's a part time. He's a one percent owner.

Speaker 1 (01:56:23):
Right, No, you're right, which means just nothing. No, he's nothing.
You're right. I love Come on everyone, Yeah, get it together, Ethan,
get it together. Come on. There wasn't a big deal.
It's not a blame that he's an owner. Come on, really,
all right, be well, have a great week. We'll see

(01:56:45):
you next week on Fox Sports Radio.

An unlicensed lizard psychologist travels the universe talking to strangers about absolutely nothing. TO CALL THE GECKO: follow me on https://www.twitch.tv/lyleforever to get a notification for when I am taking calls. I am usually live Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays but lately a lot of other times too. I am a gecko.
