Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening the Fox Sports Radio. That's right, Martin.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
The VJ broadcast in live from the ti rack dot
com studios.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Tire rack dot Com will.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Help you get there with an unmaxed election, fast free shipping,
free road as a protection. Over ten thousand recommended his
dollars tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
It's no joke. This team is for real.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
We'll get into that in just a moment, but first
I have to introduce my good friend VJ.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Vernon Husky, the big Vanilla Funny. How are you today, Mike?
I'm doing all standing up what I'm good?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Man?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
You know me. I'm on a hundred right now. Man,
had a great day, worked out, had breakfast and French
toast with the kids prep for the show. Man was excited.
I was excited to be here. Man, we'll talk with you.
How was your week? It's been good so far. I
just thought about this.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
If you did something sixty times and we're only successful twelve,
how many more times would you want to do that thing?

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Depends on what it was. Because I'm ultra competitive, so
I would feel like eventually I'm gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
It just depends on what it was well, because Steve
the Seger just outlined it.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Right now. The Oakland A's.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Getting shet locked right the bottom of the eighth Miami
Marlins eleven.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Oakland won right now.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
They have played fifty nine games prior to the conclusion
of this one. That'll make sixty and they will have
won twelve times in sixty games. And I really think that.
Think about that sixty games. That's that thirty days in
a month, give or take. Yeah, that's two months getting
your ass whooped. And then every you know, six or

(01:33):
seventh day you get, they thought you a bone, you
getta win?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah. Nah, that place is, man, that place is a
mess right now, and with everything going on with them.
But you just when you see teams losing this bad,
I thought about you and Chris when I was looking
at standards yesterday. You guys thought like the Tigers would
be this bad right there. And they're hovering around five
hundred right now with the first fifty games passed by.
And then you just keep scrolling and scrolling and scrolling
down and then you see the you see the a's man,

(01:59):
and it's just like wow, like, are you really like
what's going on? You Are you really that bad? You
can't be that bad? Are you? Seven wins at home,
five wins on the road. They're at a run differential
of minus two one nine. But let's just round up, okay,
two hundred. They've been outscored by two hundred runs and

(02:20):
it is only June the third. How bad? How bad?
Can this run differential get?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Like? Right? Would you think three hundred by the end
of the season? Like the run the minus three hundred runs,
that have to be a record. I would love to
look that up and see if that would be a
Major League Baseball record for minus run differential. They're they're
really bad, man.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I just just show to my fellow gamblers out there.
I will actually have a gambling uh, a little gambling
preview for the Stanley Cup Finals that uh has the
first face off of today during our show, we'll have
a little little what you wont you call it?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
A Parlay Park party? Yeah, Parlay party.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I like, there you go, Parlay party before the hockey
game coming up just.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Shortly Parlay Park since it's hockey puck party three p's PPP.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Right now, I was getting the game one of the
NBA finals of VJ I know you have an opinion
on this one.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
My take was this, all right, there's it's quite simple.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I think I do think Miami will quit themselves better
in game two and the series going forward. But here
we are. This is what it is. Miami's a bad
uber driver. They only got one star.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
They only got one star. You've been you had that
one loaded. I've tried to listen. Oh yeah, hell yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Leave me alone with pebbles and bam bam, all right,
because here's the thing. If the strategy is that get
this guy in career high in shots, yeah, if the
strategy is that, you know my take, if that's the
strategy for you to shoot more, you're probably not that guy.
Pebbles and bam bam, bye bye. Look, and you know

(03:59):
what I get it. You want to talk aou Jimmy Butler,
he's been up and down, all right, but Game six,
he went to that free throw line, and I understand
that Derek White hit that father stretched my hands miracle
shot with a second left. However, point one least, that's
what thank you point on the tenth of a second. However,

(04:19):
going into that moment when Jimmy got fouled by Al
Horford in the corner.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
You said, oh, he gonna make all three of these. Yeah,
game over, I thought walked make all three of these.
They blew it.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
That's what a superstar does. You know what I'm saying.
I didn't work out that Gamy lost, you know what
I'm saying. But that's what superstar does. Game SEVENY came out,
played well enough. They won.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
But that's what a star does. That's what a star does.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Right.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
And you know, I get the regular season this and.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
That, this is the playoffs, you get eliminated. And look,
Jimmy did not play well. I'm not trying to say
that Jimmy played well in Game one. However, the advantage
against the Denver Nuggets is to try to abuse Nicola
Jokic on the defensive end. That's it, that is the advantage.

(05:09):
Bam had twenty six shots they tried. Yeah, Bim, I
thought about you again. I'm watching Bam plais that. I'm
wonder Martin think what he thinks about this, because you're not.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
You questioned Bam severely, like you have questions about Bam
and the way he shows up and the way he plays.
Look on the finals, I would love to see a
long finals. But this has a look and a smell
of a gentleman's suite. It just does, because when you
look at the size that Denver can put on the floor,

(05:39):
Miami just can't match it. And I know Eric Sprocher
didn't want to talk about the undrafted guys being undrafted.
He was sick of that narrative, right, But your undrafted
guys had never really been in this type of moment before,
and it showed it. It showed those guys gave absolutely nothing.
Now to Jimmy really quick. I've been very out of men,

(06:00):
very open on this show that Jimmy was on my
list of guys that I question if you want to
hitch your chance championship aspirations to I got a question
mark there. He's in that category great player, but are
you gonna win a championship with him? And I did
say that if he got this team to the finals,
that I were to remove him from that list. But
in sports talk radio, I like to feel and believe

(06:21):
that I am allowed to adjust my opinion when I'm
shown new information. You say he didn't play well. I
thought he played bad in Game one, and I thought
he played just just okay enough in Game seven against
the Celtics. There's three straight games now we haven't seen
Jimmy the free throw game. At the end of Game six,

(06:42):
getting to the line and get fouled really saved him.
He was playing horrible up until about the four and
a half minute mark of the fourth quarter. Like you said,
what superstars do, like we saw Jason Tatum do in
the series prior to that, going just two of twelve
or two of thirteen, fourteen, can you have the moment
sixteen point and fourth exactly you locked in and then

(07:04):
try your beth to deliver it, to deliver it of
your bad game in the first three quarter. It's like
being a great corner in the NFL. You must have
a short memory, and a lot of times in the NBA,
you see, guys, you can see a bad two quarters,
two and a half quarters. Hang on, guys, we see
it all the time. Real true superstars don't care. They're
gonna keep shoot, They're gonna keep being attacking, keep being aggressive.

(07:25):
That's what Jimmy is gonna do. But I do felt
like I thought he was foul hunting a little too
much for my liking. And you don't normally see Jimmy
Butler do that he's gonna have to step up in
Game two tomorrow night. But I'm gonna tell you, man, this,
this this idea that they should just stay home and
make Jokis be a score. Okay, so you wanted to
have a forty fifteen and twelve triple double instead of

(07:49):
a fifteen, ten and eleven triple. Like, I just don't
see where they can win this series, and I think
it's too well after tomorrow, I don't think Miami gets
this game. And going back to South Beach, you better
grab two of them because if you only get one,
they're gonna come and close this out in game five.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
So I'd say that I have to disagree because Duncan
Robinson and Max Struce we're on the finals team just
three years ago, like so they have been by definition
in this moment.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
But I will I will add this though, you know,
and I'm not trying to do the bubble thing, but
it's different than a four month break. Is different than
playing all the way through, going through the battles like
that and then being in this moment from having a
four month break, play eleven games and then start the playoff.
I count the difference.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
So they've been here before, They've been to the NBA finals.
Excuse me, they have been here before, They've been in
the na finals. And the point is, really the Nuggets
to me are the team that don't have the finals
experience because obviously Yokis have ever been there, and really
the only one is KCP. And I got to get
PA to ESPN's Tim McMahon for this, CACP has graduated

(08:55):
from kid can't play to keep championship players. Yeah, in
terms of and so that's that's not mine. It's not
the original I got. But I said, I gotta gotta
run with that one. But Ki can't play. It's dead though, Yeah, no, no,
no he did.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
That's over. That's that's over. That's over.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
It was mean spirited in the first place. However, So
the thing about the Nugget, I mean, think about the Nuggets.
I hear what you're saying. You want, Okay, leave Yogics
one on one, let him score fifty. Try Gavin Hills.
You want to have a center score eighty five points
to the playoff game, Let's see if.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
We can do it.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
But I think the key is it's not it's more
so or it's less about Jokis getting off and more
about cutting the water off to Porter Murray, the Bruce
Brown when he's in the game and those guys and
Aaron Gordon.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
To the point that you made in your initial thing.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
If you're if you're making shots, you can't you got
to get back a transition. Gabe Vincent can't be the
answer there right like at all that that because that's
what that is. It's across which is Transitioneduggets are getting
out and pushing the ball, which we've seen them do
all postseason. They ran right past Lebron and Anthony Davis,
you know what I'm saying. So they were at the
bottom of the league in transition defense all yr long.
So that to the point of so it is in

(10:12):
Denver's it's something that's in there in their recipe to win,
to get down the court, and it abuse these matchups.
I think that the science behind it would be, all right,
you get let Jokics because you're not letting him shoot, right.
It's not like on the other end where Bam is
taking open fifteen footers, open ten footers, get in his shirt.

(10:37):
Just don't double Jokic, stay home on everybody else because
here's the deal. You cannot have a half in which,
if you're any team defending the Denver Nuggets, you can't
have a half in which you were losing at half
and ya could just taken less than five shots. Yeah,
because everybody else is coming along for the ride. If

(10:58):
you're gonna get if you are going to beat the Nuggets,
can only score the same two or three points that
everybody else can in the first three quarters.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
But to the point of your superstars show up.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
In crunch time, game time, that's when we're not counting
on Michael Porter Junior to hit that corner three, or
Bruce Brown to get that big steal our Aaron Gordon
to have the back cut for the dunk.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
That's what we're counting on. This big water polo playing.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Uh you know, sucker over there passing it, shooting the ball.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Give you, give y'all, get you a new job every weekend.
Last week he was riding horses, the week before that
he was pulling trucks, and now he's a wardo polo player. Well,
those are all things he's done in the past. I'm
not giving him a new job. The man, the man
contains multitudes real quick though, I want to talk about
the coaching too, because Gordon really set that game up
off the beginning. He set the tones to the game.

(11:50):
But that was all Mike Malone coach, Michael Malone, excuse me, coaching,
and I thought Spoe, yeah exactly. I thought Spoe got
out coach, because he didn't adjust to that until he
decided to put Jimmy on him a little more in
the second half, and it started to slow Gordon down.
But of course they got other pieces and Van Gunny
was very not Van Gunn. I'm sorry, Jeff. Yeah, it

(12:11):
was Van Gunny pointing that out that once they put
Butler on Gordon Moore, it started to slow them down.
I thought that should have happened earlier. Maybe you don't
get down twenty plus points. But also too, last week
you talked about betting and with you and O are
big time gamblers and you're you're on a limit. Pepper Parlo,
you guys do great work over there, man. I'm I'm
kind of leaning towards Murray might being able to steal

(12:35):
this finals. MVD. I know I get what you're saying,
but we also thought zero chans, Andre Iguodala or Kawhi
Leonard would have gotten the MVP in the finals of
the years that they've gotten them. But over the last
five games, and there's only been just one game of
the finals, but over the last five games, Jamal Murray's
thirty one six and six guys with two gimme thatds.

(12:57):
Those are steals, give me them biscuits and fifty two
from the field. I don't think that's gonna slow down.
And if yo kid just gonna play. And I watched
some of the media availability today on NBA TV. He
really does like talk the truth of I'm not worried
about scoring guys. I'm not worried about these titles that
the media wants to give me. It's nice to win
these trophies. You can really feel that he'll go. Listen,

(13:19):
if I average fifteen or sixteen in this finals and
I but I average a trouble double and we win
in five and Jamal Murray averages thirty, Jamal Murray's gonna
be the Finals MVP. I just want to throw that
out there a little bit.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
I tell you what, I don't think it matters what
Jamal Murray does on this post, in this in this you.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Think it's already his name is already Joki's name is
already on the trophy. They've already engraved it. Because here's
the deal. Wow think okay, and I'm third iv J,
so listen, all right, but here hear this. Okay, I
think it's already wrapped up.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Okay, first, your first your first argument is Andre Igadala, Right, Yeah,
he was a hundreds to one going into that series
to win the finals MVP. Since then, the most recent
examples just being Eastern Conference Finals this season and Western

(14:12):
Conference Finals this season, the MVP overwhelmingly has gone to
the best player on the team because in part of
how people thought it was ridiculous that Steph did not
get that one in the blowback, Now that votes are
public and you can't discount this. Now that votes are

(14:35):
public and everybody can see who's who's voting for who Mark.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Jackson, Jackson, Mark Jackson, Mark Jackson, Who's there's a whole
public shaming aspect to it.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
And secondly, Kendrick Perkins maybe when he brought up he
brought the racial aspect in the MVP discussion. Whether or
not Yokis deserved to win it or not, a lot
of people in this country. As soon as they hear
the words white black, we're like, WHOA, Yeah, Well, I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
I'm not part of that. I don't know part of that.
I'm not getting involved in this.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
All of those people who you know voted Jokis back
to back heavy piece of the record season two years ago,
and at the time, I can't the pre set it.
The man was an overwhelming favorite to win his third straight.
You're gonna tell me they not go vote for this
guy in the finals. I find it hard to believe.
But you know, to you said, to your point, I

(15:29):
am not the resident conspiracy theorist here, but I just
say this, I don't waste.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Your money on anybody else but Yochus for the finals.

Speaker 2 (15:35):

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Let's welcome in our new affiliate in Peoria, Illinois, Peoria
Sports Radio one on one point one to the Fox
Sports A Radio family. They are Chicago White Sox Radio
Network A Philly and program directors gott HECKA Thorn dropped
another network to make the flip to Fox Sports a
big win for them, So welcome to the FSR family,

(17:02):
Peoria Sports Radio one on one point one BJ.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Welcome to men, What's going on? Por's Illinois Aora Peoria, Illinois.
Was it that where Wayne and Garth were from. We're
Wayne and Garth from Porr, Illinois. You know, after quick Google,
I'll get back to you on them. Yeah, all right,
well welcome man, guys. Yeah, I'm sorry, man. I saw
I watch Wayne's World the other night, like two nights ago.
It was up late watching Martiny VJ.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Coming to you live from the Tyraq dot Com Studios,
Game one of the Stanley Cup Final, getting ready to
start in just a few moments here. As we were
preparing for that VJ, we got the Golden Knights and
the Panthers, both Florida teams in the finals right now
in the NBA and in the NHL. Do you think

(17:47):
that the Panthers will fare better than their basketball counterpart
did in Game one?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
In Game one? Yes, I'm gonna go with the Florida Panthers.
I'm actually gonna go with the Florida Panthers to win
this thing because I just would love to see an
eighth seed and they just have something going for them
right now. I know how great the Knights are second
best record in in the National Hockey League. All year long,
they were the number one team in the West pretty
much majority of the season. They play fast, they're big,

(18:14):
they're physical, they're great with the pucking passing, and they
score goals in bunches. You know. The way they put
the way to the Stars last weekend was like six
six nothing, what like, That's how you put a team away.
Let them know, Hey, we let you hang around long enough.
But I will definitely think I definitely think that they
can hang in. They just it just feels like they
kind of just got fade on their side. Man. So yeah,

(18:35):
I think I'm gonna pick them to take game one tonight. Yeah,
I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
It was funny because all Eastern Conference finals, I was
thinking the question that nobody is asking. I can't believe
that nobody's asking this question. By the way, Garth and
Wayne Aurora, Illinois. Ah, okay Aurora. So you have Aurora
in Prioria, which I imagine is probably not nearly as confusing
to Illinois resident.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
That's a tongue saying that five times fast. Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Who's better Jason Tatum at basketball or Matthew to Chuck
at hockey.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
I know they went to the high school together. I've
seen the video. I see Jayson Tatum.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Hold up his the life on microphone and say, hey, Matthew,
Chuck's really great. I think the answer might be to
cut to Chuck at hockey. That dude is crazy. Well,
it's in his DNA, you know what I'm saying. It's
in his family. This is in his bones, man, it's
in his blood.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
You think he's better than his daddy?

Speaker 2 (19:27):
To borrow Charles Barkley's only talking point on the NHL playoffs, Do.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
I think he's better? Nahn? Not yet? He went one.
He win this one? Then yeah, then then you gotta
start to put him up there, you know. So, I
want to try something now here in VJ.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
We had the idea during football season, I said, you said,
I should say you had the idea during football season.
But for now, with with just one game on the slate,
let's give out a little same game parlay and see
we can make the listeners.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
A little bit of money. Let's start out.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
We got our producer branded it here, true hockey aficionado.
I believe he has the first leg of this play
of this parlay.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
I'm gonna take goaltenders Aiden Hill and Sergei Bobrovski to
both have over thirty and a half saves in this game. Look,
both Vegas and Florida have great four checks, which means
they get a lot of pressure in the offensive zone.
They both put up a lot of shots per game.
Sergey Barbrovski has registered more than thirty saves in all

(20:29):
but two of his starts this postseason. Aiden Hill wasn't
even supposed to be here. They had Jonathan Quick as
their number one. He went down with an injury. That
another guy with his I believe it was Robin Lehner
who's been out the entire season with a with an injury.
And Aiden Hill has really stepped up. He's been fantastic

(20:50):
this postseason. So I'm gonna take both Bobrovski and Aiden
Hill over thirty and a half saves. That's at plus
four seventy.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
All right, VJ, what you got? I got a good
one for you guys. And you just talked about him
as he's better than his daddy, I say no, but
he's been playing outstanding. Give me Matthew could cut for
the first goal. At a plus nine fifty twenty one
points in the postseason so far this year, that is
second in the NHL all through the postseason, nine goals

(21:19):
so far that is tied for third in the NHL
all postseason. This guy's been on fire. He's had an
hat trick. You get him to puck, you get him
going around the net. He just makes things happen. Two
of his goals off rebounds, so that means he puts
himself in great position to get rebound goals in which
aren't playing goals. Man, it's just guys being at the
right place at the right time. So give me that

(21:40):
parlay plus nine to fifty and I'm put a hundred
down on that. He's been clutched. Clutch, Yeah, really clutch.
He has two overtime goals.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Also, he had the overtime goal and I believe it
was a four overtime game, and he at the series
winning goal against Carolina.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Yes, is short then, First of all, I love this
all time Vegas music giving me real Sinatra vibe. Who
by the way, it's probably still the greatest entertainment American history.
But stop it going with one of my favorite names
in sports right now, Jonathan Marchusal. See if it'll be
a what is it a junissault tonight? Anytime goalscorer coh

(22:14):
like that?

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Anytime goalscorer. He has scored nine goals in the last
ten games. I think he keeps the hot hand and
with this old school Vegas music, That's about all I
can give to you After that, I mean, come on now,
you gotta love something like that. Coming up next Martin
and VJ, we will have NBA insider Mark Madina will
knock him around about the game one and the games

(22:36):
following of the NBA Finals. But first, without further reduced
Steve Desager, what is going on in the world of sports?

Speaker 1 (22:41):
My guy?

Speaker 7 (22:42):
Hello, gentlemen, you mentioned the new Peoria philiate. Did you
see how the White Sox game ended today in Chicago?

Speaker 1 (22:48):
That was wild?

Speaker 7 (22:49):
They were hosting Detroit. White Sox scored on a wild
pitch in the fourth inning. Detroit scored on a wild
pitch in the sixth inning. It was one one bottom
of the tenth and the White Sox bases loaded two outs,
one on a wild pitch as the pitch missed the
catcher and hit the home played umpire directly in the face.
Mess That's how it ended two to one White Sox

(23:11):
in ten the final And kudos to former White Sox
closer Liam Hendrix. Not only through a scoreless seventh inning,
but records his first strikeout since returning from cancer treatment.
Plenty of finals to report from baseball. The A's have
officially lost again twelve one Miami the final the Athletics
twelve and forty eight, now on the season, still with

(23:32):
just five road wins. The Blue Jays scored leg to
beat the Mets two to one in New York. Brewers
a ten to eight win at Cincinnati. Royals lost again.
It was Colorado six ' four winning at Kansas City.
Another win for the Texas Rangers thirty seven and twenty
this year. Rangers sixteen to six over the Seattle Mariners.
Phillies ended a five game losing streak with a four

(23:53):
to two win at the Nationals Now. The Red Sox
were rained out yesterday. They already had a double header
scheduled for today. Chance of rain through the weekend there
but they got the first game in of the twin
bill today. Red Sox beat Tampa Bay eight to five
in the nightcap. It is one to one in the
bottom of the fifth for most of the country. On
Fox TV, it's the Yankees against the Dodgers. Scoreless in

(24:14):
the top of the second. The Dodgers largely dominated with
Clayton Kershaw on the mound last night. In fact, in
the first inning it took Kersh off five pitches for
his three outs and then bottom of the first six
runs scored by the Dodgers, who went on to victory.
Little bit different pitching matchup tonight. It's undefeated Garrett Cole
from UCLA as the Yankee starter, and Michael Grove, winless

(24:38):
this year is the Dodger starter up and down from
the Miners at a Major League ERA of over eight,
so we'll see how that goes for the home team.
Houston Astros leading the Angels nine to five, top of
the ninth Cardinals losing again at Pittsburgh. It's four to
three Pirates over the Cards in the top of the
ninth inning. Stanley Cup Final opener does come up in
a half an hour with Vegas hosting Florida. Game two

(25:00):
is Monday night. NBA Finals Game two is Sunday night.
Caleb Martin and Miami misspractice due to illness. The Brooklyn
Nets are reportedly hiring Kevin Ali as an assistant at
the French Open. Number six Coco Golf winner third round
match and number one egas Fiantek advanced easily. The Buffalo
Bills gave defensive tackle At Oliver a four year extension

(25:21):
worth forty five million dollars guaranteed. And did you see
the comment from the Chicago Bears yesterday saying their property
in Arlington Heights is now not their sole focus for
a new stadium site. The team bought the racetrack site
in the suburbs this year for about two hundred million dollars,
but tax issues now could have them looking elsewhere. In Naperville,

(25:42):
Illinois has raised its hand saying they're interested. Update Yankee
home run. It's two nothing over the Dodgers in the second.
This is somewhat foreseeable.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Back to you.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Thanks Steve Martiny VJA coming to AL from the Tirek
dot com studios. You know one time in Vida real quick, sure,
I was in college. My freshman year Alpha FI off
of the fresh fraternity. I pledge my freshman year had
a national convention.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
It was in Naperville, Illinois. Very much not Chicago. Okay,
that's all I got to say. Very much not Chicago
for a kid.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
And you know, eighteen nineteen years old thing, and I'm
going to going to Chicago for the first time. No,
I was going to freaking Aperville. That's where I was
going to. Just keep that in mind.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
That's like white Sox fans that what was like people
that live in Calabasas and they say are from LA.
It's like, no, you're from Calabasas. You're not from LA.
That's not Los Angeles, that's Calabasas. I feel like it's
closer to a more closer comparison.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
To the ie the Calabasas. If I may without further through,
Let's get my guy in here. Mark Medena FSR NBA
insider oo ooh, how.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Right you, Alex. But Alex be on it, so I'm
not surprised.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Oh my fay, know this is my first time here
in this type of walk up music like this threw
me off.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
You know what I should have known.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
I should have known Mark would have been ready to go,
like the Never Nuggets were ready to go in game one.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
But Mark, even with everything that happen in game one.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
If Duncan Robinson, Max Struce, and Caleb Martin, if somebody
out of something, one of them makes two or three
shots apiece, Miami wins game one, right.

Speaker 6 (27:19):
Mar Well First off, I got to just give a
shout out for the entrance music. I love my walk
up song, so I'll take it. But to your point
about yeah, if they make shots, they could win. Yeah,
that's the low hanging fruit that I think that's keeping
the Heat very confident that they'll be fine, as well
as the fact that, look, when you look at this
playoff run, they may have always one game one, but

(27:42):
they were always the underdog in the series, and they
had to beat some really good teams in Milwaukee and Boston.
So yeah, I don't think the series is over. But
I will say that the Nuggets seems like that they
have a clear advantage simply because offensively they are really
no weaknesses and I don't know what the Heat can
do defensively, the fact that they're undersized, the fact that

(28:05):
the Douggets just have so much depth. So I think, yes,
Miami can courts correct on offense, they can keep the
series competitive, certainly win some games, but it just feels
like the Nuggets are inevitable to win this because of
how loaded their offenses.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
My man Mark Me did a VJ. Runner Husky. How
you doing today, brother, Hey?

Speaker 6 (28:25):
I mean after that intro music I'm doing fans.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Moncky Coomadan has some tone of loak for you, but
has some tone load for you as old school listen. Man,
I want to jump to fast forward to you know,
Nuggets win this series. I think it could be a
gentleman sweet from what I saw from Game one. I
would have to see a drastic change in Game two
for me to change that opinion. But I want to
talk about the MVP of the Finals because Martin thinks
that Jokic's name is already engraved on the trophy. They

(28:49):
just got to hit shot. They just got hit it,
already got a locked, they just got it hit in somewhere.
But when I look at a guy like Jamal Murray
in the last five games thirty one, six and six
fifty from the field, two point four stills. And I
know there's only been one game in the Finals, but
I just don't see that Miami can stop that. This
kid is in his bag right now and is starting

(29:10):
to feel like Wade when he got that ring against
the against the MAVs in the early two thousands, where
it's like, okay, if Yogic is gonna just go fifteen,
twelve and eleven and he's gonna let Jamal go thirty
five and five for this series. There's got to be
a shot at him to win the MVP. What can
Is there anything Miami can do to stop this kid?

(29:30):
I'm not sure that they got it, man.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, first of all, the fact
that we're having the finals MVP debate after only one
game held get something right, because the Nuggets have been
playing that well. Usually this debate happens, you know, after
the third or fourth fifth game, when it feels like, okay,
team's firmly in control. So that's I think he illustrates
the fact that the Nuggets have been playing so well.

(29:54):
But to your point about Jamal, look, I think that
assuming that he's healthy next season, he's gonna be his
first All Star appearance. That was certainly the Nuggets expectation
the game. The season when I talked with general manager
Calvin Booth that he saw him as an All Star
caliber point guard. What can the Nuggets do to stop him?
Really very much little unless you want to allow Da

(30:14):
Kolya Jokic to go for thirty forty and so that's
where I think they have this clear advantage that clearly
they don't want to allow Jokic to dominate the posts,
or dominate from the periment, or dominate anywhere. But what's
really interesting is even if he has a quote unquote
quiet game of like fifteen points, you know, twelve assists

(30:35):
and ten rebounds, but you know what that still means
a triple double, and he's already broken Wilt Chamberlain's record
for that in the playoffs. That I think that even
if Jamal's going off, the fact that NIKOLEA. Jokicic's value
isn't just in scoring, it's in passing, it's making his
teammates better, it does feel inevitable that the Nuggets do

(30:57):
win the series, that he's getting the finals MVP.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
How much of the inevitability of the Nuggets winning this
series got to do with Aaron Gordon putting Gabe Vincent
through the rim in transition.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
You see.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
I mean it just seems like like as much as
the Nuggets have been doing this kind of I mean,
I'm sorry, the Heat have been doing this kind of
angels in the outfield, getting getting through, you know, getting
by with spitting glue. That's a foot difference. And Aaron
Gordon has been in multiple dunk contests.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
Yeah, well, look we're talking about a really well oiled
machine and just different parts that make that machine run smoothly.
And Aaron Gordon is part of that key cog in
the system. And I think when you look at his value,
he is doing all the little things that Nikola Jokic
doesn't have time or energy to do, as well as

(31:49):
just allowing defenses to get punished for putting too much
focus on Jokic. So that's, you know, put backs to
the rim, little openings inside because Jokic has getting a
lot of double teams, are forming defenders and then playing
a lot of defense. And so I remember when they
came back from the bubble, they're fresh off the Western

(32:10):
Conference Finals. Even though they fell short to the Lakers,
the feeling was, hey, they overachieved after overcoming three to
one series leads, but they decided we need Aaron Gordon.
And now I remember talking to the Nuggets at the
time then and now they really felt like, you don't
want this is a move that we need to make
if we're serious about winning a championship, because we got
to have as much depth as we can. And since

(32:33):
that's happened, talking to Aaron Gordon and talking to people
in the Nuggets organization, they give him a lot of
credit that he's really embraced this glorified role playing position
because the reality was when he was with the Orlando Magic,
he was their franchise player, he was their number one guy.
So for him to be willing to supplement his game

(32:54):
takes a lot of sacrifice. But I think that Aaron
Gordon has the big picture in mind, and he's played
with a turbulent organization with Orlando where they didn't win
a lot of games, and he knows how great of
a team the Nuggets were before his arrival. So because
of that, he wants to be seen as the solution

(33:15):
to the Nuggets finally winning a championship, as opposed to
a problem.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Hey Mark, let's jump to coach him. I'd be loved
Detroit Pistons. I've been a fan of my entire life,
how Monty Williams, which I thought was just a great,
great hire for what they have and what they're trying
to do there and what they're trying to build with
probably the youngest if I'm not mistaking them into Houston Rockets'
youngest teams by age and years in the NBA in
the league, but there was some kind of pushback and

(33:40):
people thought that Detroit might have overpaid for him. He's
now the highest paid coach in NBA history. That's first
part of my question. The next part of my question
to you is the retread of these coaches where we're
not seeing a lot of new names. Do you think
that's good for the league right now? Would you like
to see some other guys finally get their opportunity.

Speaker 6 (33:58):
Well, I think they're a few things unpacked. The overpaying
I think, look, Detroit made a philosophical decision, and even
if they're a rebuilding team, they wanted a coach that
had a lot of experience, had a lot of credentials,
and frankly, when you're someone in Monty Williams position, especially
when there's other coaching openings, Detroit's not going to be
the favor because they don't have a great roster, at least,

(34:21):
you know, a roster that's expected to compete for titles.
If they had gotten the number one pick, and clearly
you know, hey, they're getting Victor one of Yama, that
would have changed. But even a few weeks ago, I
was told to expect that Charles Lee would get that
spot with the Pistons because he was seen as a guy, rising,
young assistant coach with Milwaukee that had a lot of respect.
But so I think because of that, if Detroit was

(34:43):
going to go down this route, they had to set
the market and overpay. And I don't want to stay
overpay because Monty Williams is a great coach, but pay much,
you know, more than what traditionally head coaches are making.
But to the point about the retread, I think generally
I'm not a fan of the retread, but I think
this specific offseason is a little bit more unique. There

(35:05):
are a lot of championship caliber and deserving coaches of
other jobs that had gotten fired even though they're good coaches.
It's just, you know, teams not performing well in the expectations.
There's you know, a level of impatience in today's society,
and also new ownership that wants to have their own stamp.
Then all of a sudden, you had a lot of good,
accomplished coaches be in the market and it's inevitable that

(35:28):
other teams will want them. I think that you also
saw that there have been some young head coaches getting
their shot with Adrian Griffin, most notably with with Milwaukee,
and so I think that you are seeing kind of
a best of both worlds. And I think the good
thing about Griffin's case in particular that with Milwaukee, the
fact that he has Terry Stotts as a leit assistant

(35:51):
coach is really good because a lot of times when
you are a young head coach, le know most of
you with Joe Mazzulla this pastyere with the Celtics, if
you don't have a veteran coaching staff, you're really vulnerable
of your own experience in blind spots. And so when
there are head coaches that have experience and don't make
you feel threatened that maybe you know they're trying to

(36:13):
take your job eventually, they can come a long way
into really mitigating that learning curve. I think best example
when Steve Kerr got hired in twenty fifteen, even though
he is a former NBA player, well respected, he had
never had head coaching experience, but his lead assistant being
Rod Adams, who's been there, done that, that went a
long way and really being able to cover up for

(36:35):
his inexperience.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
Well Mark, they say you can't overpay for a winner.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
And you know what, you my friend undefeated on the
market VJ show, appreciate you coming on, Thanks for the insight.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Coming up next, a big time legend announced he's.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Calling in a career who We'll tell you next Martin
and VJ, Foxford Radio VJ First, Martin VJ.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
Coming lot at the Tireck dot Com Studios.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Woh, I've got the Dodgers trailing the Yankees two to
one in the top of the third inning. The Twins
and the and the Guardians tied at one a piece.
In the bottom of the third, the Ray's got a
one run a one run lead on the Red Sox
at the top of the sixth, Come on, socks, and
I just went through all of that because my favorite

(37:24):
baseball player has retired at fifty years old. Today, the
big fellow himself, Bartolo Cologne. Bartoilo calls it a career
fifty years of my man playing baseball, and his solo
home run is probably one of the singular, like non

(37:45):
majorly impactful sports moments that I just loved like it
wasn't It was just a regular season game in the
middle of the year, you know, one of one and
sixty two what like he hit a home run to
like advance the team in the playoffs or anything like that.
But it was just watching that big old dude turn
around on that ball and smacked that thing out the
I mean out the stairs.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Just was amazing for me to watch. Salude to you,
big fellow Bartolo Clo. Yeah, Saluthoso too, man, because you know,
me being black a Dominican, he's a Dominican too, so
I always love my Dominican players. Just such a fun
player to watch, man. And just which just got bigger
and biggest, head got bigger and bigger, the back neck,
the back of the head, the hat got tighter and tighter,
but he was still just throwing heat and he didn't

(38:29):
care about none of that, and he was just going
to be a big dude out there. And you know,
it's it's always cool to see that, man, So congratulations,
meant to Borto local Loan.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
I mean, and you know, it's it's a dying breed
now with veganism and you know, athletes playing bass focusing
on their you know, I mean, just think about it.
On the seventies, these guy guys drinking and smoking in
the clubhouse, in the club cigarettes right, you know what
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
In the eighties, you know, doing drugs and go out
three for four, two home runs gas.

Speaker 6 (39:02):
Right, So.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
We got to just hold on to these guys while
they're here, Bartolo Cologne and Daniel Vogelobah and so on
and so forth, because you know, these guys who were
built like a fridge.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
Soon the only place for them will be offensive line.
That's it. Are going to the fridge. Are going to
the fridge. There, you to the fridge. Yeah, So it's
just yeah, shout out to the fad athletes. Man, where
did you have any I had a few that I
wrote down that I just that were the bigger guys
and that I did just love. Butterbean was one of them,
aka mister Eric esh overall record of ninety seven, twenty

(39:39):
four and five with sixty five knockouts. If you guys
can remember.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Butter be like that, I'd say, my my, my top
three here, okay, number two Robert track the trailer May.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
I knew you were gonna I had that down. I
knew you were gonna write that one down. Yeah, that's
a guy, Go ahead.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
The number three Jared Lorenz in the hefty Lefty Okay, yeah,
I was down rps.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
That was my range right there.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
I remember watching that game the Bluegrass, the Bluegrass Miracle
JaMarcus Russell to defrehendency.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Yeah, guy Morris Kentucky coach just got the Gatoray.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Dumped on him and he's like, wait now I'm sticky
for no reason because Hels you just won.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
Shout out to that.

(40:53):
Generally the way it tentably goes on fire today with
with the with the say have you been holding that
one too?

Speaker 4 (40:58):
No?

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Okay, but I've seen that a million different places. That
was a I do listen to a podcast called the
press Box as part of the Ringer Podcast.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
I was a big fan of that. But they have
what's called the overworked Twitter joke of the Day. Oh okay,
that was clever. I'm pretty sure that was the overworld
like the.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Twitter joke of the day, something along your lines of
medical emergency doctor, doctor, we need a nurse.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
Well, I just know this, Joel Embiid might need a
doctor and a nurse.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
Call nine one one, send the emergency EMS, Emergency Medical
Services over there.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
Because if the nick.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Nurse thinks he's gonna come down here and plays you, well,
embid the way he was playing this starters in Toronto,
I got one word for you, fatigue, all right, because
I don't know if Embiid can stand eighty some game.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
Who am I kidding?

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Seventy some game, sixty some games playing thirty eight to
forty minutes to night.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
And that, my friend, was the nick nurse strategy in Toronto?

Speaker 4 (41:58):
Was it not?

Speaker 1 (41:58):
Absolutely? It sure was. I Man, let me tell you something.
I didn't like this higher I really didn't. And I
know they had to get rid of Doc, but I've
been on record for Doc for about eight years. I
don't even have to reverb all the stuff I've put
out there about Doc Doc. But I've always questioned Nick
Nurse because at the end of the day, I don't
like doing in some variables, but I do like talking facts.

(42:21):
And the fact is they end up with Kawhi in
the trade because of all the fiasco that goes down
in San Antonio. He gets Kawhi, they go to the finals.
It takes a bounce around shot for them to get
past Philly that year. In that game seven, Clay blows
his knee, Durant tears and achilles, and then you end
up winning a championship. So I know you can say,

(42:41):
but j he's a championship winning coach. Okay, tell me
about that championship and then tell me about the rest
of the years. Why is there only one? Is like
docs championship INAH nine. Doc's got a championship. Okay, fine,
you're right, and that's a fact. But there's also a fact.
They tell me what he's done since the championship, the
non championship years. Tell me where his teams have amounted.

(43:04):
To tell me what he's done. They've had good players,
they've had great players, DeMar de Bors and walked out
of there. You know it's it's I look at Nick
Nurse and it's like, you know, I kind of see
why people like him, but to get this job, and
then now you have the questions of himb not being
happy that he got this job and that doc was fired,

(43:25):
and now there's questions about it's hard and even coming back.
So if you're Nick nursing, you get this job and
hard and nothing come back, your job just got a
whole lot harder because, as I've told you, and I've
spoke very openly about Joel ANDB. We were just listening
to a clip of our good friend in our colleague here,
mister Chris Brussard talk about Joel and B. I try
to tell Chris about JOELNB three years ago. My big

(43:48):
my best player, can't be on the damn ground all
the time. He falls more than the autumn leaves back East.
Like my best player can't be my softest and most
emotional guy. I need you to be tough. I need
you to be still faced, Jimmy Butler, like Kobe Bryant,
like I need that from my best guy. And if
you're telling me Nick Nurse is gonna come in and
Nick Nurse is gonna change all of that. Your second

(44:10):
round team again, Guys like, so you got rid of doctor,
get Nurse. Okay, have fun, have have fun with this
being the first and the second round team once again,
win Nick Nurse until they fire him three four years
from now. Well, a second round team would be an improvement. Uh.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
Since COVID, essentially Nick Nurse has coached three I'm sorry,
no four playoff games.

Speaker 8 (44:35):
Four.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
There's another that's wrong.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
He's only coaching one series, okay, because he missed the
sin since COVID, he's only coached one series, didn't advanced,
perst the first round, hasn't won four playoff games?

Speaker 1 (44:46):
Is the better way to say what I was trying
to say.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
Since the championship, right, since since the year after the championship,
After the championship, they went to the second round, but
then COVID happened twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty one season.

Speaker 1 (44:58):
Yeah, there's a lot of twos in that I know, geez,
but but but you give it to the point I'm
making it. Since they got the championship, the COVID blah
blah blah, all these years. Just just take me from
the championship year to now and tell me what he's
done is right there in black and white on the internet.
People you know, like I said, have fun, but and

(45:19):
I get.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
Like you too, you have to have luck on the
way to a championship a little bit the way that
it goes, right.

Speaker 1 (45:28):
I'm trying to think of the Nuggets luck at this moment.
They just popped in my head, like, hold up the Nuggets.
Haven't the Nuggets is beaten?

Speaker 4 (45:35):
You?

Speaker 3 (45:35):
No?

Speaker 1 (45:35):
Good?

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Like they beat Phoenix and Phoenix had their players. Okay,
here you go. You know, here's your Nuggets luck. Here's
your Nuggets luck. Is that the two and the three
seed were eliminated before they even had to go in there.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
I'm not saying though, I don't take that away. I'm
not saying that to take that away. They wouldn't have
beaten the Nuggets. I'm not saying it to take it
away from anybody, but they.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
Weren't there that maybe the Nuggets don't walk through the
Western Conference if they're playing against the two.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Or three seeds, right are you know? Top top seeds?

Speaker 2 (46:01):
All right, Miami, if they were able to win this
thing all right, Yeah, Jianni's got hurt. Okay, then you
go and you be Then you get a first year
head coach who found that he was getting the job
two weeks before the season started. That's a bit much,
you know what I'm saying. And they were I know
Boston has the more talented team, but in terms of
the coaching staff and over its head. Right, So you

(46:23):
can go down the line. But that's why to me,
I need to see a little consistency. And I don't
like to say anybody can do it once because I
don't think that it's true. We have numerous, many, many,
numerous instances in which they couldn't get it done. Somebody
couldn't get it done. We sit there and look at
Tea on TNT, the pre eminent NBA broadcast, the most

(46:45):
popular guy on it never won a tie. So it
happens like some people went title, some people throw Robert
Ory got like eight thousand rings.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
I don't think that he was the catalyst.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
You know, in driving that game forty two, you turn
into Robert oriyre like, hey, what the hell is going
on here?

Speaker 1 (47:01):
That's not the way things are going.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
But I would say this, that's why I need a
little bit more consistency, a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
Okay, you win the title, you lose in the second round,
then maybe you're back in the conference finals the next year. Exactly.
All right.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
You look at Miami last five years, they've had up seasons,
the doubt not really. Let mean, they've had a few,
you know what I'm saying. But when they make the playoffs,
it's a Eastern Conference Finals run. Then it's a little
often built. We're right back in the Bacon.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
Round, Eastern Conference Finals competing, you know what I mean.
We're right back in the finals. Boom yea right, we're
right back in We want to talk about. Okay, the
Golden State Warriors. Except for some sub day year when
they only won fifteen games, I didn't play anybody, Yeah,
everybody sat pretty much games fifteen games but red shirt year,
no play stuff.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
But in there they're continually a title contender, continually one
of the teams that you're fearing if you're in the
Western Conference. Even this year with the punch hurt around
the world, there was tons of people clamoring saying that
this team was gonna be able to overcome all of
that and win the title. What even Doc Rivers has

(48:15):
more consistency than Nick Nurse. Remember we were talking about
how Doc Rivers has this terrible Game seven record. Part
of that, while it's unacceptable, is a victim of his
own success. Nick Nurse don't have a terrible game seven
record because he hasn't even seen the playoffs, the tour
the last three years.

Speaker 1 (48:35):
So I get it. We had to fire Doc. But
it's just a good luck. And and and then and
see we agree on this. You had to fire Doc.
I agree with that, And I went out. I make
sure I tweet it. If he loses Game seven, they're
firing him. You can't keep him. But Nick Nurse was
was your pick. It just it feels like he was

(48:56):
almost like, okay, what was left over? I'm pretty sure
they took swing at Monty Williams. I'm pretty sure not.
Steve Nash's name is being floated out there. As far
as the Raptors job, the Raptors still don't have a
head coach. Email Udoku took the Houston job. You see
Frank Vogel, which I also think is another great hire,
takes the Sun's jobs. He'll finally get tough to play

(49:17):
some defense because they got the ass kicked against the
Nuggets because they didn't play any defense. Their offense was
there other than Game six when Durant and Booker decided,
and you know, I guess we're gonna have allf night,
especially Booker so called the next Kobe as far as
some analysts and TV personalities wanted to call him. Twelve points, Yeah,
that's just like Kobe an elimination game. Don't think so.
Try again. But it felt like Nurse was a okay,

(49:40):
this is what was left like he didn't feel like
the first choice. Got he can't be Nick Nurse can't
be your first choice when, as you said, the inconsistency
better than I said it. I just basically said, hey,
show me what he's done other than the year when
they got to the finals, because he had Kawhi Leonard
who carried you to the finals. What were they doing
before that? And then you get to the finals and
once again, Durant blows the achilles, Clay blows his knee

(50:03):
in the Clay type game where he's heat. Looks like
Clay's starting to heat up. He's gonna have won him
thirty plus point games to help continue that series. On
blows his knee out on the layup and gets fouled
on a dunk. Excuse me, fast where dunk and gets
foult and and and then since then, just tell me,
tell me the memorable Toronto Raptors playoff series in games
you remember, No, shut up to own. No, this just

(50:25):
felt like almost backwards. And once again, if Harden this
hots the walk, what are you really embid? You're telling
me embiid and nurse is gonna carry through the Eastern
Conference when you know Miami's gonna be there again. We
both like the direction the New York Nickobocas are going.
Boston will be okay, they got. I like the fact
that keeping Missoula and giving him some Let's give this

(50:46):
guy a full year. Let's give this guy a full
up season because he was out, he was out coach
on Missoula at for a moment. Yeah, we beat him,
We beat him up. He guys thirty four years old,
and yeah, it looked like he had lost the team.
But I was saying, hey, we got let's pump the
brakes here in terms of firing this guy after one year,

(51:07):
we've seen this group of players falter at every step
of the Yeah, no matter who no matter who the prison.

Speaker 2 (51:14):
We can't just blame, no matter who the teacher is,
these students are failing to test, right. So so it
got to a point where I'm like, all right, yeah,
we're best offense in the league for half the year.
We're looking at the two seed. I mean we're in
there's only four teams left. Guys at that point exactly, No,
I'm with you, and we beat him.

Speaker 1 (51:34):
I mean, I was one of the main guys, but
I was correct though he was severely being out coach.
But then, when you put it all in perspective, the
simple fact he did not have an off season. He
was not able to construct his own coaching staff, get in.
Get players need a voice, and you can't give him
a voice two weeks before the season starts. It's a

(51:55):
voice that's got to be there all off season long,
checking in, getting together, making sure the guys are working out,
making sure the guys are staying out of trouble, just
communicating like pro coaches do. Trust me, guys do. Pro
coaches communicate with their players more than the average fan
knows and things. They don't just go off their separate
ways in the offseason, and you see them in rap videos,
or you see him on a boat overseas in Europe

(52:15):
with ig model Land, or trust me he talked to
his coach within the last thirty four forty eight hours,
three or four days, like they talk, and when you
don't have that, it does start to transpire. Now, as
far as the students are concerned, I am now kind
of on the side of, hey, maybe you do need
to kind of look at this team a little bit
and make some changes. I don't think you can just
throw the same core seven. I would say out next

(52:39):
year and say this team's gonna go win a championship Boston,
that is with Missoula. But when I heard they were
keeping them, I said, Okay, you know what, I'm not
even mad at that. Give the guy a shot. You
say it's thirty four years old, give the guy an opportunity.
You fire him now. He may never get another chance
for the next teen He's just off of one year.
I think that would have been unfair. So I like
the fact that they have them.

Speaker 2 (52:59):
I think when you looking holistically a week after the fact,
like sure, could he use a little.

Speaker 1 (53:05):
Help in the press conference? Yes he could. What's wrong
with his PRIs I mean it's who he is. Because
the difference is is it the calmness, it's the Kurt
and and here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
And it's just one thing that drives me nuts because
journalists need to be better about this, and I complain
about it every post game show that I'm sitting there
and I'm listening to people ask questions, and it's one
of the things that I'm sitting on the radio.

Speaker 1 (53:30):
I'm not in the room.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
But talk about is not a question? Talk about your
your comeback in the fourth quarter, that's not a question.
Talk about Joe. You went seven for forty from three.
Do you need to shoot less threes? He says no, Right,
The question is, Joe, I know your offensive strategy is

(53:52):
to shoot as many threes as possible.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
You went seven for forty. At any point did you
question is there any thoughts to change the stratgy?

Speaker 2 (54:01):
You know, saying, ask an actual question as opposed to
talk about Please describe how emotional?

Speaker 1 (54:09):
I was very emotional. You know what I say? You
know how hard was it? It was really hard? Okay?

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Now, now, Eric Spolstra, and this is just top of
top of mind because I was thinking, I've just watched
the end of the game one. You see that, Eric,
somebody asked Ira went them and actually I remember this
from the uh the Sun Sentinel in Miami asked him like, so,
you know, is there anything you're gonna have.

Speaker 1 (54:33):
To go to school on on this game?

Speaker 2 (54:35):
And the answer is the answer the question is yes, yes, yes,
there's yes, thank you, next question like that. But Spolstra,
having been a vent of of unteenth years and knowing that,
the key that Missoula needs to understand is when you
are doing a press conference, you are both talking to
the people who are asking you the questions, but really

(54:57):
and truly you are talking to the fans, your team.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
And the players in your locker room.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Absolutely, that is the number one who It's four. Eric
Spolster goes out there, what do you need to go
to school on?

Speaker 1 (55:10):
In game one? Oh? Well, you know we credit to Denver.

Speaker 2 (55:14):
Great team goes out and yells, you know, not yells
but states Robinson's trus mart. You know these guys, these
guys are pros. These guys have been big time players
for US all postseason. They hit a shot or two. Here,
we're looking at it entirely different outcome. I know they're
gonna hit him in the future.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
That right there.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
If you're Duncan Robinson or you're Max Druce and you're like,
damn good, I just went oh for nine.

Speaker 1 (55:35):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
You read that and he's like, you know what, my
coach got no doubt in me after he betched me
the whole fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (55:41):
Right, That is what your press conference for.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
That's what Joe Missoula, as he does it more will understand.

Speaker 1 (55:48):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (55:48):
That's what he'll understand. That's what he'll get there. Should
we saw more threes? No, that's not doing nothing for nobody,
especially yourself. I know the NFL season is around the corner.

Speaker 1 (55:58):
Somebody.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
That's some ball predictions. Me and BJ will get into this.
This this is pretty interesting stuff. JA Hunted Predictions and
Sports Illustrated. All right, I picked and choose the few.
Now I went through and picked. I picked some of
the ones I thought you might have a little more
juice on. Have you pick a number and then we'll
go through them. All right, let's know that's coming up next,
Martin and BJ. Brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive

(56:18):
makes bundling easy and affordable. Get a multipot. Do this
gone by combining your motorcycle, RV bowed, a TV and more,
all of your protection in one place, bundless save at
Progressive dot Com.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
Martin and VJ coming.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
To live from the Tiraq dot com studios.

Speaker 1 (56:33):
Let's stick over there we go, all right, all right, VJ,
you fancy huh, Alex, I appreciate the music, brother like
real talk. I just told Mario this, this feels like us.
This feels like VJ and Martin right here. You know
what I'm saying. This feels like us right here, man,
you get me hype. I'm sorry, go ahead. Mark.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
There was a period in time. I don't know if
it's still as true as it was about ten years ago,
but Drake was just entering phrases into the lexicon at
a speed like that was that was, I mean, that
was Instagram captures for at least six months after that.
After that came out and I hate on either side,
on either side somebody coming, oh you fancy huh? Or
you know she you know, did something with her hair

(57:14):
and a little bakeup and now she turned in the
corner to where he's showing off everything.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
Stomach on flat, flat right, that was one girls girls
were really stomach on flat flat and that that came
from Drake. So this came from uh, it's just guys.

Speaker 2 (57:28):
Connor Or Okay, he is a Sports Illustrated senior writer
who took the time to make out a hundred predictions
for the NFL. Now, obviously, I don't think that Connor
or uh you know, is miss Cleo or anything. I
heard being able to tell the future got me. Now,
I commend him for the exercise, as it is something

(57:49):
that you know, one hundred that's tough, though you go
with one hundred different takes. Hats off to you, my friend. However,
don't challenge me because I'll do it. I won't trust me,
I won't. But since he did take the time to
do this, I figure, you know, VJ. What I was
gonna do was, I said, have you pick a number
between one and one hundred? Okay, right, I picked about

(58:10):
twenty five.

Speaker 1 (58:10):
Of the hundred.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
Whichever number you say is the one closest, tiars, I'll
read it out and we'll go.

Speaker 1 (58:16):
Let's do it. What you got. Let's start off with
my football number seventeen. Number seventeen, ha ha ha, perfect
for you, Oh, let's go the question.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
The prediction number seventeen out of the Sports Illustrated article
Bryce Young will break the NFL record four consecutive completions
by a rookie quarterback and the modern era. Do you
think that has a good shot of the current Cash,
I'm not gonna lie either. When you look at Bryce,
you look at Bryce Young, his ability to operate the
offense at Alabama and his accuracy.

Speaker 1 (58:48):
Couldn't you see it happen? Yes, Cash, couldn't you see
it happening? Right now?

Speaker 2 (58:53):
The rookie record held by your favorite rookie quarterback, Mac
Jones stands at nineteen completions in a row.

Speaker 1 (59:03):
He'll break that.

Speaker 2 (59:04):
I can see a scenario on which they come out
nine for nine on the first drive, maybe they kick
a field goal to a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (59:12):
Then you come back out you're nine for nine of
the next driver.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
There wait a second, Wait, we're cooking with real gas
because we got all our script that plays out.

Speaker 1 (59:20):
I don't know. I can see it happening. Especially Carolina
is not devoid of talent, No, not at all.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
Like they they had the number one overall pick, but
they didn't lose the games commensurate to get it.

Speaker 1 (59:32):
They traded up. That was about I said. They traded
it up for it.

Speaker 2 (59:34):
It's not like they were the huge detections who earned
the You know what I'm saying, the number two spots.
Don't tell love Smith that, Hey, love Smith got them
that win. Shout out to you, love me, shout out
to you.

Speaker 1 (59:46):
Okay, winning games, Bro, I like this, Okay, So yeah,
I'm definitely y'all know how I feel about by well,
I'm I'm gonna talk someone by and football season about
to start winning. Got to do it right now, Bim.

Speaker 2 (59:55):
The Rooks has been held hostage in between a six
fifth and seven third standard time every Saturday, every damn Saturday.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
As VJ comes in here, Bucky Brooks, the.

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
NFL VET front office vet scout, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
That he's training the kids right now in football.

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
VJ always comes in and tells, hey, you know Bright Shank,
Brice Shank and every you know, I say the samety
every week he still hasn't grown.

Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
I'll make fun of him, and I'm gonna let youall listen.
Y'all already know me. I don't get off, I don't
go like, I don't go away and lightly guys I'm
not going away on b Wi. I like Bucky though. Man.
He's a good dude and we always got something for him. Man,
So all right, I got another number for you though.
Let's uh, all right, somebody else gonna give a number. No,
let's do. Let's let's for real.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Quick kick to Steve de Seger right now as the
NHL playoffs are underwe and so Stanley Cup Game one
is underway.

Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
There we go. Steve's got that and more. What's going on, Steve?

Speaker 7 (01:00:56):
It's the opener in Vegas and scoreless in the early
minutes with Floor of visiting Florida. Panther's a wildcard team
open on the road again, another eight seed from Miami.

Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
Like the Heat.

Speaker 7 (01:01:06):
NBA Finals Game two is Sunday night. Denver defeated Miami
in the series opener. Caleb Martin of the Heat misspracticed
today due to illness, and Miami guard Tyler Hero is
likely a game time decision for Tomorrow night, trying to
come back from surgery in April on a broken hand.
He was injured in the first half of the first
game of the first round this postseason. Hero averaged twenty

(01:01:26):
points per game this season. Denver has won seven straight
games overall, and they have a home record that's undefeated
this postseason at nine to zero. At the French Open,
number six Coco Golf won her third round match, as
did number one AGAs Fiontek, who advanced easily. Golf also
won her doubles match. To Major League Baseball, the Red
Sox have tied it up on an era in the

(01:01:46):
bottom of the seventh, two to two against the Rays.
This is the second of a double header in Boston.
Rays did drop the opener Red Sox eight five in
game one. Much of the country on Fox TV is
seeing Yankees at Dodgers tonight. Bottom of the fifth, Yanks
leading four to one thanks to a couple of two
run homers from Jake Bowers, a Southern California native, hitting

(01:02:07):
him off tonight's Dodger starting pitcher Michael Grove, who's eer
and the Majors is eight point one four this year.
Twins defeating the Guardians two to one in the sixth
and Among the late games Red Hots Arizona Diamondbacks are
hosting the Braves in an hour and a half. Among
the earlier game, the White Sox won on a tenth
inning wild pitch two to one over the Tigers. All
three runs total came in on wild pitches. Phillies ended

(01:02:30):
a five game losing streak with a four to two
victory at Washington. Did you see the Washington Post article
on Nationals veteran pitcher Stephen Strasburg that he has severe
nerve damage. He hasn't pitched in a full year. This
guy was World Series MVP in twenty nineteen. Rangers won
again sixteen to six over the Seattle Mariners. Pirates defeated
the Cardinals four to three. Wins for Colorado. Houston and

(01:02:53):
Milwaukee Blue Jays beat the Mets two to one in
New York, and the A's have dropped another one. Marlins
twelve one over Oakland. The A's record twelve and forty eight.
The Buffalo Bills gave defensive tackle at Oliver a four
year extension worth forty five million dollars guaranteed. Sunday, there's
a USFL doubleheader on Fox TV. FS one has the

(01:03:14):
NASCAR this weekend, including the Xfinity Race. Now Sunday's three
hundred from Illinois at three point thirty pm Eastern time
on FS one, and Rory McElroy is tied for the
lead at the Memorial Victor Hoblin and is in a
group one shot back back to you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
Thanks Steve Martin and BJ coming to you live from
the Tireck dot Com studios. Let's welcome in our new
affiliate in Peoria, Illinois, Peoria Sports Radio one on one
point one to the Fox Sports Radio Family Chicago White
Sox Radio network affiliate. That was a fun win today,
a walk off against the Detroit Tigers. Program director Scott

(01:03:49):
Heckathon dropped another network to make the flip to Fox
Sports a big win for them. So welcome to the family,
Peoria Sports Radio one on one point one.

Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
Yeah, we're picking them up too. Also, man if I
could too, man quick shout out to Australia. You guys
see me on Twitter, man, I pumped the show. I
talked the whole country. Yes, yes, well yeah, the whole
country man, because we're picking up listeners and followers on Twitter.
We're picking up listeners and followers from Australia. Who is
chext me and hit me up or not texting but
inbox me. He told me they love the show and

(01:04:21):
that they'll definitely be tuning in now. Another Australian resident
out there put him onto it. Man. So not only that,
I also got an inbox for somebody that's in Japan
that listens to us. Man. So we are we like
Martin and vij were in a national baby and you
know me, I pumped the show, I talked to show.
I put the fly out all the time too. We
need a new flyer, by the way, man, I think
it's time for us to take a picture and get

(01:04:41):
a new flyer.

Speaker 4 (01:04:42):
Go.

Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
You don't like your your photoshop anymore? You're done with that?

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Nah?

Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
No, no, no, I'm still photo. I'm still photoshopp another
flyer for us. But I just think I want to
take a not. I want to take a different picture
now and make us a new flyer for the summertime
football season. Can see that flyer in a Husky t
on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Let's go back, and I'm at Martin wise here. Let's
go back to this list that we were doing counter
ores one hundred bold NFL predictions, And again I tip
my cap to the guy come up with a hundred.
Some of them are good, some of them are bad.
But that's one hundred is a lot. That's that's a
good effort. Actually, I think it's pretty dope. It's something

(01:05:22):
I kind of want to try. Yeah, I kind of
want to try my forty forty three fantasy football leagues.

Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
I didn't want you. I kind of want to OD Man,
I like the OD. I got a number four.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
You know, if you're ready, we'll be coming soon to
see VJ. This is bold one hundred and one NFL predictions. Right,
you go that way, I could say I did more
than him.

Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
See you feel me?

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
Seven minute ebs? All right, what you got what? I'm
gonna go with the number for my favorite NFL receiver
of all time, mister Randy Massol. I will go at
number eighty four, number eighty four four. All right, this one,
this one is more. This one is more. I picked
it for me.

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Taylor Swift will absolute and absolutely ham fisted smorgasboard of
surprise stars at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
This has been the season of Swift, but the pop icon.

Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
Warry from an unbelievably expensive and expansive summer tour will
require some help, said the Vegas resident Steve Aoki. The
K pop band BTS, and both Mick Jagger and Keith
Richards can still answer the call. It'll cost Vegas seven
hundred million in derail, all types of all he's making
jokes here please no no, no, no no no in

(01:06:32):
a place like Vegas. Hell and a place like Vegas,
absolutely not with all the different Dumman, there's so much.
And I'm talking about halftime show. I want to see
a Penn and Taylor situation. I want to see a
sick Freed and Roy act a like. That's what I'm
looking for in the Vegas halftime show. You know what
you could give me Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra doing

(01:06:54):
all time Vegas, Like do a show show. Yeah, I
want to say a Vegas like you go to Vegas
to see a ship. Oh yeah, you can see Taylor
Swift anywhere. I just don't think I just wouldn't be
it one I was. That's definitely just before I finished here.
That's one last year Rihanna. I was into it even
though she probably wasn't. And after the fact comes out
she's pregnant. Okay, I get you can see she was pregnant.

(01:07:15):
You can see that.

Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
But at the time I was rooting for things like
costume changes and bitch have my money to be the
first song.

Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
So I'm betting on this type of stuff, and I'm like, Rihanna,
let's get it going here, let's.

Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
Get it going.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
So then the next day it comes out she's pregnant
and it'll being a big baby reveal.

Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Hey, cool, that's awesome, amazing. So I was into that.
Shout out the Rocky. I was into that one all
right out the asat Rocky.

Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
A year prior you got Doctor Dre and all of this,
Maria Taylor going on and broadcast saying the greatest half times. However,
before it started, however, it was one that was very interesting.
It's true to Inglewood, right, if you know a lot
of to Inglewood. All right, give me something Vegas. Don't
just get me telling, don't.

Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
Just give me Taylor Swift, give me some Vega. Why
would like, why would you do that? Why would you
do that to us? Taylor? You do that, There's gonna
be so many people going to the bathroom, refilling their nachos,
refeeling drinks, going to get an extra you know, half
smoke off the grill, you know, some some more tacos,
whatever you having at your house. I'm not watching Taylor Swift.

(01:08:18):
I swear to you, I would not watch a Taylor
Swift halftime show, I will go in the kitchen and
rearrange some food or do something else then watch that.
There's no way I'm watching that as a halftime I
love the idea of something Vegas, something no Vegacy.

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Husky at Husky Yantia. You would go into the kitchen
and rearrange food, not eat it. Rearrange because you gotta
go back in.

Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
Yeah, you know, because you know me, anything to give
me out of anything, to give me out of here, man,
Because then you gotta go to the kitchen and see
because your guests always don't cover up food when you
got the foil over pants, and so you got to
go back in the kitchen and go behind grown ass
adults who don't know. Yeah, man, you got some beans
out of this. Put the foil back over it, bro,
just don't leave it out with the spoon, the service spoon,

(01:09:03):
steal in the damn beans. Well, who raised y'all? I'm
sorry this a military, a military Southern grandma up bringing
over here.

Speaker 8 (01:09:11):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
Let's go give me a number on the top hundred.
Let's go. Let's go with his first thing he wrote down,
let's go at number one. So number one.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
I didn't care for it, but it was the Bengals
over the forty nine ers in the Super Bowl. It
was his first prediction. I was like, I don't know,
forty nine ers have a quarterback. That's a bit blown,
that's a bit over blown.

Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
Oh yeah, ohh whoa hold up? Stop the presses, mister
yelled me down over party. You're backing off the Niners.
Have you listened?

Speaker 3 (01:09:37):
Have you?

Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
I don't know if you saw, but in the first
half of the NNESSEE Championship game, rock parody tours u
c L and the needs of Tommy John surgery.

Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
They said he could be back by training camp and
he could be ready. He's on he's on Shannon has
said he's on track. Everybody's on track right now. It's June.
We'll see true, very true. Everybody. Everybody's everybody's light years ahead.
Everybody's on track. Everything's okay, shay everybody you know. So
I'll see.

Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
We'll talk about it in September when they're actually putting
the shoulder pads on a hit and who's the quarterback
over there?

Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
The number three one? Though, oh god, do we have
enough time for this?

Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
In the seven you're about to have no I'm making
he's about to lose his mind, steam.

Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Out of his ears. I'll try to control myself. The
Patriots who in the AFC East. Now I see, now see,
now see that's the number third prediction on Connor War's
top one hundred.

Speaker 4 (01:10:30):
Here you go.

Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
You ready for this? You want you want to want
to want me to tell you on at the sales
job that mister orrre trying to do here, here you go.
It better not be nothing about Mac Jones, Bill Bough, Bilbo,
whoever that is.

Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
O'Brien is back carrying a new bag of tricks from
his Alabama getaway. The dolphense will sensibly grind out games
behind the brilliant defense. You'll ask, what about the Dolphins,
Jets and the Bills. My thought that the visual collapse
on hisself. The Dolphins, for example, are going to have
a rough time not burning themselves out. The Bills are

(01:11:02):
depending on reinventing themselves around intentional less mobile Josh Allen.
The Jets are resting their title hopes on Aaron Rodgers,
who may be great and newly motivated. He's also forty
and maybe showing it. The Patriots will win the ac
according to mister Connor Wroth for sports Who's this again?

Speaker 1 (01:11:20):
Connor?

Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Or Connor? Or Hey, vjes how are you getting sunburn? Indoors?

Speaker 6 (01:11:30):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
You know what, we are going to have a great
summer here. We're going to talk so much training camp
in football. I'm you know how this business is. After
the draft and after the NBA free agency, we got
about three weeks where you know, we got them guy
for some topics together, some shows. We gotta find some
interesting things to talk about once training camp starts. I
promise you guys, you're gonna get the best VJ Vernon

(01:11:51):
Husky that you've ever seen on Sports Art Radio because
I love doing the show with this guy. Him and
I didn't get a chance to talk football last year.
We started in October. We are starting from scratch. Our picks,
our predictions are I'll say it for him. This guy
is a jerk right now, this guy's is this guy,
this guy's you know what, this dude that's.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Beautiful or boy could come up with one hundred predictions.
VJ done like one ninety nine problems, but the wrong.

Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Predictions one right, that's because that's just stupid. That sucks
and and oh my god. See all right, oh, I
see what you guys are trying to do. I'm not
gonna growth wusaw you guys trying to suck me in.
So you don't think there's any chance that the Dolphins could.
I mean they burned out a little bit last year
down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
They started out undefeated up until the big the Battle
of and it's so far with Justin Herbert.

Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
Versus Tua, Miami is going to win the AFC East.
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna bang bang or pump
up to it, unlike everybody else. We got to see
the guy in the field. But if you're gonna try
to get me believe that Vic Vangio and Jalen Ramsey
coming over to our defense and getting both our starting
safeties back who were injured in Week five and week
seven and missed the rest of the year. Agbah who

(01:12:59):
got injured in week four. Mister, rest of here, our
defense is gonna be top five. Our weapons are galore. Man,
stop playing with me, don't let me. Don't let us
get Davin Cook, don't let us get Cooke.

Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Come man, Aaron Judge just hit a ball so far
out of Dodgers Stadium that uh Me and VJ and
Studio and Sherman Oaks felt like we needed to duck
right now. The Yankees got a four run lead, five
to one over the Dodgers Florida and Vegas Stanley Cup Finals,
Game one, eleven thirty left in their Vegas starting a

(01:13:30):
power play score nothing to nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
Coming up next, Coming up next, man, I want to
tell you guys something about losing to win. I'm gonna
tell you, guys the biggest loser that parlayed that into
one of the biggest winners recently in pro sports. All
that coming up next on Uncle DJ's Corner, Martin VJ,

(01:13:54):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
Martin and VJ coming to your line from Thetirack dot
Com studios, Wishing brock Purty a immediately healthy recovery from
his UC Yeah, hopefully we get to see him back
on the field soon, but I'm not gonna take too
much of your boy's time.

Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
It's Uncle Vjy's corner, all right, Everybody gather around.

Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
It's that time of the week home, man, It's that
time of the day I've been telling y'all. Man, Yes,
it's time for everyone's favorite uncle and you add the
cherry on the top. It's time for Uncle Vjy's Corner.

Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
Yes, sir, right man, Welcome to Uncle Vj's Corner. I
am your Uncle VJ. Verner Husky, the big vanilla Funny.
It's always on a beautiful Los Angeles day in an
eighty degree range right now. Mark said, it was eighty
five when I first walked into Ain't that damn it?
It's only about seventy eight eighty, But it's still beautiful
as usual, chilling over here on handsome Boulevard and vanilla driver.

Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
We had said that because you were making fun of
me because I was wearing shorts like it's I guess.

Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Like it's high school, Jim Shorts. Make sure you tell
everybody the true tell the whole story. I want to
talk to you about a Jo today. Guys that's had
some major losses in his life, but he is winning
in a major way right now. Born on October the
eighth and nineteen seventy one from Fredericksburg, Virginia. It's about
fifteen minutes where I'm from in Woodbridge in Dell City.
Seven oh three, went up, went off to the Potomac

(01:15:17):
School in Maryland, and Oxen Hill part of the DMV grade.
Y'all know the DMV right, y'all know some of the
names that's come out of there, Elgen Baylor, Dave Bean Pistant,
Adrian Daly, Piston, Sherman Douglas, Dennis Scott, Moses Malone, the
greatest big man passer of all time, Kevin Durant, Steve Francis,
and mister old Guy and mister reliable self Jeff Green,

(01:15:38):
who's in the NBA Finals right now with the Denver Nuggets.
This gentleman went off to the University of Northshire Dames
All American Honorable Mention at twenty two points and eight
rebounds of I had to check that list Honorable mention
with them kind of names. It was honorable mentioned with
guys like Randolph Childress, Aaron McKee who was a sixth
Man of the Year award, winning the year that Allan
Iverson won, the MVP, Larry Brown one Coach of the Year,

(01:16:01):
the Kamt Bibi Tabo one Defensive Player of the Year. Yeah,
so goes that team of bums that a I took
to the finals. People want to talk about. That was
a good team too. Derek Phelps and also Scotty Thurman
is also on that list. Hit the game winning shot
against Duke in the National Championship. But I thought he
should have been on the first of the second team.
But anyway, when he was in college he missed two
years because of a preexisting hard condition. He lost two years.

(01:16:24):
That was lost Number one majorly in this man's career.
First round draft pick by the New York nick Obacas
in ninety four and he played there till ninety six.
Then he was traded to the Spurs in ninety six,
played there to ninety eight. Then in ninety nine he
signed with the Denver Nuggets, who were in the finals.
I just mentioned again he was released within thirty days
talk about taking another career loss. Then in O two

(01:16:47):
he sounded with Philly is a free agent. He was
then traded back to Orlando after being with the Magic
from ninety nine to oh two, and they cut him
three days later after some chronic knee injuries. He pretty
much just settled, Hey, I'm done. I want to go
into coaching. So he was an assistant for Portland oh
five to twenty ten. Then he got his first head
coaching job for the Hornet slash Pelicans in ten to

(01:17:10):
twenty fifteen, compiled the record of one seventy three and
two twenty one and two and eight in the playoffs.
That's not great. Let's not try to act like it is.
But in twenty and sixteen this were some things really
hit this man. He was an OKC assistant coach. On
February tenth, in twenty sixteen, his wife, Ingrid was killed
in a head on hair, head on head car crash
in Oklahoma City. And I can't even imagine what that

(01:17:32):
feels like. But this man persevered. He displayed the three
seeds of being a Vanilla brother, cool, calm, and collective.
He was actually awarded the Saga Strong Award in twenty
sixteen at the first NBA Awards Show. Not only that,
in twenty sixteen, he was also on the Men's USA
team down in Rio and collected himself a gold medal.
You talk about bouncing back in life. I'm almost getting

(01:17:54):
emotional reading this right now. This man also then went
on to be a Philadelphia seventy six or assistant eighteen
and nineteen before getting the Phoenix Sun's head job in
twenty nineteen and then was just fired this year twenty
twenty three, and now you talk about winning after some
major losses. Six years, seventy three million, highest paid in

(01:18:16):
be a coach of all time, from my hometown, from
my DMV area, now coaching my beloved Detroit Pistons. I'm
happy for you, Sir, Cunneyham Ivy, Jalen Stewart. He's got
some players there, guys, they got a little mess. They
got to make up there. But I think he's the
guy that can get this done. And because of what
he's been through, and if you follow him, I'm old

(01:18:37):
enough to remember his college career and his NBA career.
Mister Tavaris Montgomery, y'all call him Monty Williams, the new
Detroit Piston head coach, Sir, for displaying all three seeds
of being a vanilla brother of the week, being cool, calm,
and collective. You, sir, are the vanilla brother of the week,

(01:18:58):
week week. Go save my Pistons, Baby, We're back.

Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
I was today's year old when I figure out Monty
Williams's first name is actually Tavares.

Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
They should have went with Tavaris. Yeah, it's a better name.
It is.

Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
I actually like Montgomery. I like pronouncing. I like calling
people what their name is. Like, if your name is Robert,
I'm not calling you Rob or Robbie. I'm gonna address
you as Robert, if that's all, you know, if that's okay.
Some people don't want to, you know, know your name
is Robert, like you're mar and I don't go with
up ma with up Mardy Ma. I call you Martin.
You know that's kind of funny from a guy who

(01:19:33):
goes by VJ. Well, VJ is actually v E J
A Y. It's not initials. It's spelled out, but it's
it's a nickname, noneth the left. First of all, I'm
gonna need you not to put on my personal business
out in the radio world right now. That that's that's
I literally call every segment. The name of the damn
show is Martin VJ. Yeah, there's a story behind how VJ,
but it's VJ. Vernon Husky. Vernon Husky is the government.

(01:19:56):
But out of VJ, you know, comedian and actor and
I do other things, so I had to do the
entertainment kind of thing. There's a story behind them. And
I hear you. I'm just saying to Varis Montgomery, William Yeah,
I'd like to here you go from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Baby
D and V.

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
We'll have more football coming up after the break. Martin
It Martin and Who at VJ Vernon Husky Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Jonathan Marchasalt scores his tenth goal in eleven games to
tie up Stanley Cup Game one. As you heard seed
the saga just say, if you listen to me about
an hour ago, congratulations that plus two hundred cashing that ticket,
Jonathan Archasaalt, Like I said, it's a judas Sault.

Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
Self promotion.

Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
Nah.

Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
A nice call man, nice pick. Actually, you and Brandon
hit on your Uh he had Florida. Uh. He had
the Panthers scoring first, and you have Marchas Sault Uh
scoring any time. I will I will say, you know
what I'm saying, just me being the hater that people
think I am. Y'all took easy ones. You know mine
was kind of hard. I took first goal. You know,
you took score first, and Martin took any time. So

(01:21:26):
it's like three periods for his the cash in. Actually
I took the saves off. Florida was scored first. I'm
gonna give you. I'm gonna just give you. It's cool.
I'm gonna give you.

Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
A rudimentary you and everyone else. I feel like I'm
doing a good service here. Ask someone who gambles quite
consistently and regularly. The best bets, the ones that win.

Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
There you go. So, if you want to cash a
plus two hundred, which I think, ol that's pretty dog
gone good.

Speaker 2 (01:21:59):
You take one dollar, make it two five dollars, making ten, ten,
make it twenty fifty, making a hundred.

Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
It's not bad. Martin's not bad. Almatics nice, and you
didn't have to do the air Matt. That's what's up.
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
Now, you go ahead and we're gonna go back to this.
This one hundred bold predictions from the NFL season. Connor
Or of Sports Illustrated, I tip my cap, thank you
for doing the heavy work, and we'll just critique and
see how you did. All right, the way we've been
doing this so far, had VJ pick a number, any
number between.

Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
One and one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
I outlined about twenty five of these things that I
thought were the best, and we'll go from there.

Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
As VJ, what is your next numbers? I'm gonna go
on my son's birthday, which is December twenty fifth, So
give me number twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Five Christmas Day. It'll be a game there on Christmas
Day this year in the NFL. Whoever, maybe this guy
could be playing number twenty five. Kyler Murray will play
fewer the seven games this season. It will be his
last year in Arizona. Mary's not going to rush back
from a tornade. Cardinals are going to start a slew
of backups on the first time defensive linement head coaching

(01:23:04):
Jonathan Gannon. The outcome of the early part of that
season could actually ultimately sway Murray as to when he
comes back if you follow that line of logic, especially
with all the quarterbacks that Caleb Caleb Williams coming out
and actually a sleeper guy right now, nobody's talking about him.
Connor orr was, I am too, Michael Pratt be on

(01:23:25):
the lookout. Yes, quarterback coming out next season.

Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
However, is he going to be like your hand in
hooker from last year?

Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
Is that is that he might BEI okay, But however,
Arizona likely will have a top pick coming in this draft.

Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
Jonathan Gannett, first year head coach.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Kyler Murray incredibly expensive quarterback with torn acls and now
he's rehabbing.

Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
From it could be his last game. Do you think?

Speaker 8 (01:23:48):
So?

Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
I like that one. And it's not the Aco man.
Let's just call it what it is. There's a lot
of there's a lot of off the field speculation with
Kyler Murray, and there's a lot of locker room talk
with Kla Murray. And I've supported him and I like
Kyler Murray. But at the end of the day, I'm
gonna listen to the people who are around the player
more than me and more than all the fans and

(01:24:10):
all the radio and TV guys. We all got our opinions,
is what we get paid to do. But the people
that are in the locker room with him, the coaches
that are around him all the time, they probably know
a little more than we do. So I agree with this.
He's not gonna rush back. They do look like they're
resetting their franchise. Buddha Baker's now wanting out of there.
Who's one of the best safeties in football? You just

(01:24:32):
lost JJ Watson retirement, you just cut you basically just said,
you know, we're not paying thirty four more million dollars
to DeAndre Hopkins. Bye bye bye. And the word in
the immortal words of Martin Lawrence from the TV show
Mary be gone basically is what they just don't be
be gone, like go and go get the money somewhere
else if you can't. So I do agree with that,

(01:24:54):
and I think next season the whole storyline will be
will Kyler Murray even get a job be a starter again.
Who's gonna pick him up? The call of duty stuff,
he doesn't study stuff, and all this other stuff that
that affected him I think this year and affected a franchise.
And then you add on a torn acl recovery from
a speedy, you know, shifty running style quarterback, and that

(01:25:17):
fell done Farewell. I like that one by him. I'll
say this, I still don't like the guy though, but
that was a good one. I'll say this, if Kyler
had had better.

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
To your point about hearing the talk about the locker
room and all this and that, if Josh Allen, for example,
tore his a CL in Game nine of this year,
there's no question about him coming back to buff Absolutely,
If Joe Burrow when he did, Terry's a CL, no question,
Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, a few other guys like Herbert's

(01:25:57):
in that category. Justin Herbert, couple guys in there that
there's no doubt about it. We'd rather you have half
an a CL than a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (01:26:07):
With two foot Trevor Lawrence, you can throw him in
there as Tyler's I mean Skyler. Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:26:14):
Kyler's talent is incredible. I don't know how much it
fits in to the football scheme. Sometimes a lot of
it is backyard, like when you think of his crazy highlights.
You got the Buffalo Bills throw to d Hop in
the end zone, But in that that was in the
middle of a one and four stretch, you got the

(01:26:34):
Oak I mean, the game against the Raiders last year
where he just meet me, meet me meat running around
all over the place, you know. But again that's super
off script and like, but you weren't a big kling,
You weren't a big Cliff fan at all. How much
of that is on Cliff though?

Speaker 4 (01:26:51):
Too?

Speaker 2 (01:26:51):
Oh, I think Cliff king very is malpractice. Yeah you
know what, Yeah, you you were hard core. Play calling
was just it was illogical.

Speaker 1 (01:26:59):
So you get him a better coordinator, you know. I
know they got a defensive mindy coach, but you get
a quarterback guru type guy for this kid. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
I this is a thing from when I was I
wasn't in Detroit at the time, but I was fresh
from it and remember it vividly and still have a
lot of ties to the fans of the team, the
way the Honolulu Blue and Silver. I remember the last
time we saw a defensive coordinator get molly wopped in
the Super Bowl and take a head coaching job. His

(01:27:28):
name was Matt Patricia. You had a laminaated sheet with
a pencil. It's hard to do to write on a
laminade sheet with a pencil in the year so it's
cat And I'm not saying that Jonathan Gannon is gonna
be a bust. What I am saying is I would
have liked him to figure out the orbitter jet motion
in the Super Bowl. Yeah, before the second or third touchdown.

(01:27:51):
All right, bj what's your next number? Let's go high again? Man.

Speaker 1 (01:27:56):
One of my favorite defensive players all times, the Reggie White.
So let's go at ninety two. Ninety two, all right,
the closest one I got to that.

Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
On Connor War's Hunted List of NFL Bowl predictions, number
ninety three, Joe Burrow will do something cool with his
contract so the Bengals can resign all of his wide
receiver friends. Tyler Boyd T Higgins would not be long
for Cincinnati unless, then I'm reading his words, the Tiger
King includes some wild provisions that slide some of his

(01:28:23):
contracts will win fall towards his teammates so the Bengals
can continue their stranglehold on the AFC North.

Speaker 1 (01:28:29):
I'm not saying it's right, but it's a subly cool
thing for Joe Burrow to do. No, just as simple
as that, No, he won't. Why would he? Why would you?
This idea? Guys that you know, restructure so you can listen,
if you can't get other players in here to supplement migrains.
Look what the Chiefs did. And I banged on the

(01:28:50):
Chiefs last year, but I also gave them their props
when they're holding the Vince Lombardi Championship Trophy. They traded Tarik,
They didn't a Mahomes didn't restructure his damn so they
could keep so they could keep a guy who goes
to a new team and it has seventeen hundred receiving yards.
He didn't restructure his deal to keep him. He took
a quarter of half a million dollars. They ain't restructuring,

(01:29:12):
no damn deal. If Higgins, listen, can you keep Chase?
I get it, but the two or three eventually gotta go.
If they gotta go, they gotta go, or you're not
the quarterback. This is just the business. Win you take
less money, home boy, I'm not taking less a restructure
in my deal. Cool, so we can all stay, nah man,
that that's just not how this business goes. I wouldn't

(01:29:33):
do it, and I don't, and I damn sure don't
think Joe Burrow's gonna do it, and I don't think
anybody's gonna rip him for not doing it. I don't
think nobody's gonna come out. Oh god, he's so selfish.
What a selfish quarterback. He's not gonna restructure his deal
so they could keep all four receivers. Come on, man,
that's that's that's irrational. I went and do it. I say, no,
he doesn't do it either. That was a bad one.

(01:29:54):
I love.

Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
I think it actually has a pretty good shot that happening.
Joe Burrow when asked about this on all Right, I'm
trying to get to the data of this article. It's
not here anyway. He was asked about this offseason at
a certain point and he said, I'm pretty clear.

Speaker 1 (01:30:08):
This is Joe Burrow.

Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
I'm pretty clear on what I want in the contract
or what I think is best for myself and the
team from the road. To make that happen, he added, uh,
he takes into account quote other players that need to
be paid, and also quote it doesn't matter how good
your quarterback is. If you don't have good players around them,
you're not going to be a very good team. And
also I think it.

Speaker 1 (01:30:29):
I think it kind of trends well that he and
Jamar Chase seem to be if not good friends, at
least have a great working relationship. Yeah, you pay Chase.
Oh yeah, that's cool. I agree with that. You pay Chase,
But you're telling me you got you're gonna restructure so
you could pay.

Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
These There's a possibility in the world where Barrow and Chase,
who have played on the same team with each other
for the last what six years five years now, they
maybe potentially could sit there till with one another say hey,
we're gonna need somebody on the other side here. Maybe
we can both come together and and and you know, hey,

(01:31:07):
I'll take less. You take less to be able to
get somebody else in here. But again, that's a whole
if and if.

Speaker 1 (01:31:13):
Whatever, Just real quick one less that you play, You
pay Chase, and you do what you can to pay Higgins.
If after this year, Boyd is the odd man money
wise out. This is why you go scout rookies. This
is why you draft players. This is why you Yeah,
those two got but all three absolutely not. So another number.
Throw it right here before we get to the another

(01:31:34):
goal there too, also too. Sorry, also replay Okay, I
thought it was another goal that.

Speaker 2 (01:31:39):
Was their easy you know, plus two hundred Marchisi anytime, Marcus,
let's go with.

Speaker 1 (01:31:47):
We started this show in October, so let's go with
number ten. Number ten, Yeah, number ten. What are my papers?
All right? The closest one we got to that is
number five.

Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Anthony Richardson will win Offensive Rookie of the Year, but
Bryce Young will lead all rookie passers and quarterback rating.
But if Richardson, who plays a more all in company style,
then Young plays the whole season, there is no way
he will not amass more of a glamorous statistical profile
than Young, who's a more traditional pocket passer. He says
it could be very similar to when RG three and

(01:32:19):
Andrew Luck entered the league in twenty twelve. You come
away with an initial preface toward one quarterback while recognizing
the long term value of another. He's equating obviously in
this Richardson to RG three and Bryce Young to Andrew Luck.
I love Anthony Richardson for Offensive Rookie of the Year
because I think he's the ceiling is going to be

(01:32:39):
very up the floor. Rather, it's gonna be very high.
If he has good if he has good ball security,
doesn't fumble, he's gonna get a lot of carries for
a quarterback. That division is going to be terrible. And
and you know Michael Pittman Junior and Jonathan Taylor, they're
gonna want to keep the ball on the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:32:56):
Yeah, they don't want to keep the ball on the ground.
Offensive Player Rookie of the Year. And then I want
to say Shane Stiking. Now his coach is the same
guy who's coaching Jalen Hurts. I can see that similar output.
I like Bjon Robinson with the Falcons to win that
award because running back, in my opinion, is the easiest
position to translate from college to the NFL. The only

(01:33:19):
thing you really have to do is just learn to
pick up the blitzer in the NFL. Learn to read
the blitzer and pick them up. But it's a lot
of it's a lot of not to snap count, handoff ball,
take ball, seahole, run, make guy miss, run over guy
like that's a catch out of the back fo that's
really the easiest position to do it. In Atlanta, you
talk about leaning on a running game and leaning on

(01:33:41):
some guys, they're gonna want to keep the ball on
the ground because they're still working with Desmond Ritter there
and trying to figure out what's going to go on
with that quarterback position? And you got a stud running
back like that in Bjon Robinson. I think he gets
over two hundred and fifty carries and about thirteen hundred
yards fourteen hundred yards. You know that if he doesn't
get hurt, plays all seventeen or at least sixteen games,
eleven twelve touchdowns, that says offensive rookie to me. So

(01:34:04):
there actually is a Desmond Rudder one on here. You
ready for this? All right, let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
Desmond Rhetterer will finish in the top ten among quarterbacks
in completion percentage. We'll get Vj's response coming up next.
Martin VJ brought to you by Discover. At the end
of your first year, Discover credit cards automatically double all
the cash back that you've earned.

Speaker 1 (01:34:24):
That's right, and everything you've earned doubled.

Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
Seriously, check see terms and check it out for yourself
at Discover dot com.

Speaker 1 (01:34:31):
Slash Match.

Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
We'll get into Vegas and Florida Game one and NFL
predictions coming up next. I'll tell you what Martin VJ
coming to your lot from the Tirack dot com studios.
But uh no, I mean he could use this right now,
but you say you are uh superstar. If you shoot

(01:34:54):
twenty six shots, you should have more than twenty five points.
You should be scoring forty.

Speaker 1 (01:35:01):
Twenty six shot.

Speaker 6 (01:35:04):
Game.

Speaker 1 (01:35:06):
Oh especially if YO get just leave and you why
ou man, Wow, he's here all week ladies and gentlemen
for you. He's here all week ladies and gentlemen. What
happened in the Filasco guys? What happened this? He stopped

(01:35:26):
being good? Oh work, because I dude, I love this album.
I love this album. Go watch this a bro, dude,
this album went hard and listen and then it was
like he was here and then gone. He made the
cool and that yeah kick push, go watch, yes, dude,

(01:35:49):
go why I used to listen to go watch on
repeat Alex that thing went in bro and he spit
bars and just I always feel like when a guy
goes away that way, like you just said, I think
the easier he stopped being good, But me being third IVJ,
it's like, yeah, it's almost like Nori. If you guys
ever watched Norri's podcast, The Drake Champs, he said, at

(01:36:10):
one point in his career, there was a fork in
the road and you can either go this way, or
you can go this way, he goes, I went this way,
and then all of a sudden, certain producers aren't allowed
to work with me anymore. And you know, the music industry,
we don't have to, you know, dive into it in
Hollywood and all that stuff. You can either walk through
this door and you're gonna be on primetime TV for

(01:36:32):
the next twenty years. Or if you walk through this door,
yeah you had a little run on that sitcom two
years ago, but guess what, we'll see you again in
Dumb and Dumber ORB Part three. As as the bus
driver in the scene, and you go, whoa dude, that's
the guy from such and such a stand what happened here?

Speaker 8 (01:36:47):
He was?

Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
It happens all the time. So I always felt that's
what happened to Loope. Is like, yeah, he probably didn't.
He probably didn't walk in the right door. Sure see,
Alex knows.

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
Man. I'm kind of with Alex. I think it just
uh uh, you know, no, I did hear this. I
wish I could contribute to the right the appropriate person
who said it. But when you are an artist of
this caliber, not that I ever have been right, don't
get it. Don't make me.

Speaker 1 (01:37:16):
I'm not trying to talk like I'm walking to almost say.
I almost said no, s word almost customed almost I
did almost went no.

Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
I don't assume that everybody on the radio, everybody listening
to me VJ knows me as well as I literally
am forced to talk through for three hours every weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
These people may just popped in here. They don't know.
For all they know they heard the beginning of this
segment at that. Why did this guy have a record deal?

Speaker 6 (01:37:38):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:37:38):
Oh from your bars?

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
Okay, oh okay, that's what it was, all right, I'm saying,
Oh my bad, my bad, It's been it's been said.
I did see this to save is incredibles and maddening save.
I would have been so mad if I was Afflorida
player you shot that incredible save by the Vegas goal.

Speaker 1 (01:37:53):
Know who's another artist that just disappeared after being so good?
Was Bob two? Yeah? So here's so the thing is
this right? What happened with Bob?

Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
Same thing him happen with litup bit Fiasco in terms
of the beginning huge debut album, right you monk if
debut rookie year off the chart. Now, the difference between
you know, artistry in this way and sports is while
you have been working your way up to this the entire.

Speaker 1 (01:38:20):
Time you had.

Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
I think Lupe Fiasco released his first album at twenty three,
twenty four years old, right, He's.

Speaker 1 (01:38:25):
Probably been writing that thing in his head since he
was eight or nine. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
If you had twenty years to write a good album
every single time he needed to write a good album,
then I bet that would all be fired.

Speaker 1 (01:38:37):
Yeah, Chicago behind him and everything. Like you know what
I'm saying. It's like you have you have your first,
your first, you come up with the first.

Speaker 2 (01:38:44):
One, and that's what you've been creating essentially since you
decided that you want to be a musician.

Speaker 1 (01:38:51):
And there's you, and then it's like, all right, now
what you gotta do it again? That's a lot. That's hard.
It is hard. But I always feel like artists their
best work is always their first album. I mean nine
out of ten artists their best works their first album.
Because but to your point, you're hungry, you're sleeping on
the Florida studio. Cardi B tells that when she wins

(01:39:13):
her Album of the Year award, Cardi B was like,
y'all wasn't with me when I was sleeping on the
Florida studio and I was pregnant that and y'all wasn't back.
Like it's like, wow, she's pregnant sleeping on the Florida
studio to get this debut album done, and now she
could just do A future A future for five hundred k,
like like like you know, like it's not an AI
heard that'll do the feature exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
Yeah, which is horrible, But no. He was just always
an artist, man, that I just and he's not dead.
He's still here, so he might release another song one day.

Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
Become a flat earther.

Speaker 1 (01:39:46):
See, well, why does that? But why does that kill
your career?

Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
Though?

Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
Because I ain't never been to space? You think I'm
third ie on some things? Hey, we're not doing yeah,
yeah whatever, I ain't never been up there. That's what
we're not going to. That's what he truth though, right there,
pick a number on this one right before we're going
to all right, let's go right in the middle man,
fifty fifty, Oh goodness, gracious, his best album was his
first album. I'm gonna go with forty five.

Speaker 2 (01:40:12):
Here Aaron Rodgers will prove to be a model citizen
in New Jersey, free of the drama. I'm not even
reading the description, absolutely not. Gon, what are you talking about?
You think Aaron Rodgers had a shot to be drama free?

Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
No, what do you make of this whole? You know,
we actually got a tweet about it. Aaron Rodgers at
the Taylor Swift Show. Aaron Rodgers going on, hey, we'll
be back. Is there anywhere he met life for the
super like, oh, for the playoff run.

Speaker 1 (01:40:40):
I'm just like feel was like Aaron Rodgers walking around
New York and get it, like, hey, millions of dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
New York a great place to be, tons of fun,
especially he got that type of money.

Speaker 1 (01:40:50):
But he seems like he's writing a lot of checks.
Yeah he is. And no, no, he's not gonna be
this is listen this and my Odell Beckham prediction is
gonna fall flat on his face. This jet thing, this
bum ass jets thing with Aaron Rodgers is gonna fall
flat on its face. Aaron Rodgers is not gonna be
drama free. New York eats you up, and everybody listen.
It ate Brett fav Up in one year, it ate

(01:41:12):
Brett Farve up in one year. You guys remember Randy Johnson.
The first day he got to New York, he hadn't
even play yet, he pushed the reporter in the photographer.
It's a different vibe there. No, I don't like that
one at all. He is not gonna be drama free,
and I'm not. And I never really bang on him
for the drama because there's a lot of athletes like that.
We just pick and choose who could be drama free
and who can't. But I don't. I don't believe he
will be drama free. Absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
Yeah, let's get to Steve the Seger now, because look,
Aaron Judge just just something. I don't think we're gonna
see something similar to that till like September October when
football season starts.

Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
What in the world is going on?

Speaker 7 (01:41:45):
Steve in right field at Dodger Stadium with the Yankees
holding on to a five to three lead, bottom of
the eighth against La He chased one down, He made
the catch, ran into the bullpen gate which opened. He
went partly through in to the bullpen and held on
to the ball. Out recorded still a runner at first
one out in the eighth inning. Now and still a

(01:42:07):
two run lead for the New York Yankees, who lost
in LA to start the series last night. Garrett Cole,
from UCLA six and zero with the Yankees this year,
was tonight's New York starter. He went six innings only
eighty pitches, but left with cramping as soon as the
bullpen came in in the seventh. The Dodgers got a
couple runs to get it close. They're now after Aaron
Judge ran into it repairing the bullpen gate, so there's

(01:42:29):
a brief delay in the bottom of the eighth. Cleveland
Guardians lead three to two at Minnesota in the top
of the ninth. More baseball at amendment. But these Stanley
Cup Final openers in Las Vegas tonight and it's one
one early second period. Vegas hosting the Florida Panthers. Neither
franchise has ever won the Cup. Game two of the
series is Monday night. NBA Finals Game two is Sunday night.

(01:42:51):
Caleb Martin of Miami mispractice today due to illness. Heat
guard Tyler Hero likely a game time decision, trying to
come back from surgery in April on a broken hand
at the French Open. Coco Goff winner third round match.
The Buffalo Bills gave defensive tackle at Oliver a four
year extension. Rory McElroy is tied for the lead at
the Memorial. FS one has NASCAR this weekend, including Sunday's

(01:43:13):
three hundred from Illinois three thirty pm Eastern time. FS
one had the Trucks Race today and Tonight's Infinity Race
won by Cole Custer. To Major League Baseball, the Dodgers
are in action now. The Red Sox are finally done
with a long day of action the double header that
they split with Tampa Bay at Fenway Pack eight five Boston.

Speaker 1 (01:43:33):
And the opener.

Speaker 7 (01:43:34):
Tampa Bay, though gets two in the top of the
ninth to win the night gap four to two, so
the Tampa Bay Rays record forty one and nineteen. White
Sox in ten innings beat Detroit two to one. All
the runs came on wild pitches. Philadelphia ended a five
game losing streak with a four to two victory at Washington.
Pittsburgh won its fourth straight four to three over Saint Louis. Milwaukee,

(01:43:55):
still just a half game ahead of the Pirates and
the NL Central. Milwaukee held on ten to eight at Cincinnati,
wins for Houston and Colorado, and for the Toronto Blue Jays,
who won two to one over the Mets in New
York Vladimir Guerrero Junior and RBI double in the top
of the ninth. And you guys were talking earlier about
the run differential that's so horrendous for the Oakland A's

(01:44:15):
as their bad season continues. The A's record is twelve
and forty eight after they got pounded at Miami twelve
to one. That makes the run differential a minus two
to ten and counting, which means, according to AP, the
Oakland A's are tied for the ninth worst run differential
at this point of a season ever, and the only

(01:44:36):
teams ahead of them, if you can call it ahead
on the list are teams from the eight hundreds eighteen hundreds,
and most of whom don't exist anymore. At the other
end of the spectrum, you got the Texas Rangers, who
won again sixteen to six the final over Seattle. The
Rangers have scored ten in a game fifteen times already
this season. Texas Rangers are a plus one forty three

(01:45:00):
in their run differential, which is, according to stat Sync,
the best by any MLB team at this point of
a season since the nineteen thirty nine Yankees.

Speaker 1 (01:45:09):
Back to you and just real quick, Steve, I loved
at the pack When you talk about the socks I
lived in. I lived in Connecticut for seven years. So
the pot, the car they call sandwiches grind us some child.

Speaker 7 (01:45:24):
You gotta lift the ball to get it out of
the packet because it's had.

Speaker 1 (01:45:27):
Paul's WICKI yeah, yeah, Wicked hid It's wick. You hid?
Martin VJ.

Speaker 2 (01:45:33):
Coming to your life from the tire rack dot com Studios.
Let's introduce my guy de Marsay, the mars A Morris
MLB bro content reporter.

Speaker 8 (01:45:43):
What's going off?

Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
Heay, I got a beef to pick with you, first
and foremost because I was told our our steamed producer
Brandon said you could pick walk up music, walk an
introduction song, and of all the song in the world, this.

Speaker 1 (01:46:01):
Is what you pick. I'm about to say, this is
as baseball as it gets. I mean, I get it.

Speaker 8 (01:46:09):
I got to call it a walk up.

Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
So but listen, here's the thing. If you were hitting
third right now for the Dodgers and you're walking out
of the duck out of Chavez Ravine, are we listening
to John Fogerty or whatever.

Speaker 8 (01:46:22):
Yeah, because I'm have a nice batting average and I'm
gonna be tearing it up.

Speaker 1 (01:46:25):
Alright, Well, forgive me, forgive me. Did you happen to
see this catch that Aaron Judge just made?

Speaker 8 (01:46:31):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
I didn't.

Speaker 8 (01:46:32):
I didn't catch it.

Speaker 4 (01:46:33):
No.

Speaker 1 (01:46:33):
So let's start with the Yankees and the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (01:46:35):
Right now, as the bottom of the A two two,
one out, as uh As Chris Taylor takes a ball,
Aaron Judge just J D.

Speaker 1 (01:46:44):
Martinez hit the long fly ball.

Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
Judge runs smack into the bullpen, catches the ball, breaks
the wall wide open, so he's stumbling into the bullpen.
They throw the ball back in. Now Munthsi's that second base,
but he literally just made the catch. But I just
got to ask you in the in this this series,
right here, we got the Yankees and the Dodgers. I
know the Yankees got the first one. What are you
thinking about this series? Where are your thoughts at? What
are you looking at in this series?

Speaker 8 (01:47:09):
I just want to see I just want to see
some improvement in the Yankee depth overall. Really not looking
for anything specific in the series, but they do stuff
for a couple more injuries. I just want to see
what guys can step up, because I think that's really
their only downfall.

Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
My man, demarj was good with your brother. How you
doing this week?

Speaker 8 (01:47:26):
I'm great, I'm great. How you doing?

Speaker 1 (01:47:28):
I'm doing out standing? Man? You know I'm doing out standing.
And you already know the first team that I'm gonna
mention to you and we were gonna get your Power five.
It won't It'll won't be teams, It'll be something else
that we've helped create here. But I do want to
ask you. You talked about the Brays and the Rays
being better than the Rangers. After this week two of them,
two or three from the Orioles, two or three from

(01:47:50):
the Tigers, should have swept both of those. We laid.
We laid an ass whooping on the Mariners to day
and then shut them out last night. We have a
big series coming up next week against the Rays and
I think think that's gonna tell who's the best team
right now so far in the Majors.

Speaker 8 (01:48:05):
Your thoughts on that, I agree that is gonna be
a great series. Like I said last week, the last
two weeks, Rangers are legit. I got to give you guys.

Speaker 6 (01:48:13):
Props.

Speaker 8 (01:48:13):
Got to show you guys some love. That's definitely gonna
be interesting, interesting series. I can't wait to see that one.

Speaker 1 (01:48:18):
Now, me neither.

Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
Damar J Morris, MLB Bro Content Reporter, mlbbro dot Com
Content Reporter.

Speaker 1 (01:48:25):
You like to do your Power five every week.

Speaker 2 (01:48:28):
This week, let's do this phase one of the All
Star Game voting has started.

Speaker 1 (01:48:32):
Who are your top five All Star Locks?

Speaker 8 (01:48:36):
Top five All Star Locks. I probably wouldn't call them locks,
but definitely players I like watching and I would like
to see Atli Ruschmand possibly the best catching in the
American League, like Adlie Rushmand. Corvin Carroll, he's legit. I
would have had outman on there, but Corvin Carroll has
been in the lineup. I feel he's been in the
lineup since the beginning of the season where the me
came on, you know, little because of injuries and stuff

(01:48:58):
like that. So I got Corbin Carroll in there. Have
popped in his back to run the bases like that. Dude,
you're Don Alvarez. We already know what he's doing this year,
killing it. One of the best hitters in the game.
Number two behind you still got to put Judge number one,
Josh John got your boy jo joung on there ye rook.
Love what he's doing. I'll see a couple other guys
who can make the All Star team on that Ranger
team too. And then Luisa Rice. I like a Luisa

(01:49:21):
Rice from the Marlins. What he's doing leading the National
League and batting average, so he's having a great season,
so I definitely think he should make it.

Speaker 1 (01:49:28):
Just a quick side story. Anthony Rendola will face no
suspension with the fan grab Listen. I'm one of those
guys that I'm like, look, fans, you could say certain stuff,
but at the end of the day too, I think
there needs to be some type of consequence when you
think you could come out of your mouth and hopefully
disrespect people. I didn't have a problem with it. I
know a lot of people side eyed me on that.
I don't give a damn, but I didn't have a
problem with it. Did you have a problem with Major

(01:49:49):
League Baseball doing their investigation and saying, hey, no harm,
no foul, let's move on.

Speaker 6 (01:49:55):
Yeah? I agree.

Speaker 8 (01:49:55):
I agree with the no harm, no foul. The fans
have to realize these guys are humans. There are people
at the end of the day. These are grown men,
you know, so you think just because the athletes are protected,
they can't touch me, they can't do anything. So I
had no problem with Ren don't reacting the way he did.
I mean, you guys can only take so much. If
you're out on the street and you saw some you know,
regular guy, would you would you be popping off the.

Speaker 1 (01:50:13):
Same thank you? Thank you exactly? I know that that's
I was gonna throw. It's like you're like, like you
you're gonna talk trash, but you wouldn't walk up to
me in the street. Are these pro athletes and say
that in their face? But you feel protected? I one
hundred percent agree with you.

Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
Look, I mean this is really with the problem. I mean,
the fan already got has punished me. He's an A's fan,
you already got. Hey, look this guy side an opening day.

Speaker 1 (01:50:38):
I'm gonna go to.

Speaker 2 (01:50:39):
See this team, which through sixty games tomorrow, Jay has
won twelve. I questioned to you, if you've done something
sixty times and only been successful twelve, how many more
times would you want.

Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
To do it?

Speaker 8 (01:50:51):
I feel like you probably want to switch it up.
What do they say definition of insanity?

Speaker 1 (01:50:57):
What is it?

Speaker 8 (01:50:57):
Keep doing the same thing the result.

Speaker 6 (01:51:00):
So yeah, it's quite.

Speaker 1 (01:51:01):
Absolutely Lamar Jay Moore.

Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
Look, we saw one of my favorite, the big in
the waste athletes retire today. He called to quist today
Bartolo Cologne fifty years old. His loan home run is
one of my favorite sports moments. Like just just a
moment on Bartolo Cologne. Do you like what do you
have a favorite memory from this guy? I feel like

(01:51:25):
in a sport in which it's kind of monon this
and it's kind of every day. He was a somebody
that could be something, something fun in the du something
fun in the clubhouse.

Speaker 6 (01:51:38):
Definitely.

Speaker 8 (01:51:38):
I don't have any specific moments off the top of
my head, but just growing up watching him as a
teenager kid a teenager, his longevity, his love and passion
for the game. I actually thought he was tired a
couple of years ago. I didn't even know he you know, well, I.

Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
Think it's one of those Carmelo Anthony type exactly. Yeah,
he hasn't played, but he retiring from the bed to
the couch, you know, that's it.

Speaker 8 (01:51:59):
Yeah, But mean for him to actually come out and
say it, I thought he, you know, announced it a
couple of years back, just a legend. Definitely a legend
and a great overall picture. You're definitely enjoyed the watch
for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:52:09):
That's deamar J. Morris.

Speaker 2 (01:52:11):
I appreciate you joining us today. My guy, he knows
all things major League Baseball.

Speaker 1 (01:52:16):
And uh, we'll see what we can do about this
walk up song because I mean that Dad right there, Demarja,
don't let don't don't let Martin punk you like that?
I liked it, bro it said it was a major
league movie. I initially thought movie major league when this
started playing. Bro, you don't get no more baseball? Did
Rick Vaughan? You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 8 (01:52:35):
He'll be grooving to it in two weeks.

Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
Yeah, all right, damar J Warris, MLB bro dot Com
contact reported, thanks for joining the show. Martin and VJ
will be right back with the progressive Player of the day,
look in on the NHL Finals and one more football
questions we can fit it in Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:52:54):
Chuck Noll call there on tour, keeting right down in front.

Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
Oh that's great stick save.

Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
How did he do it?

Speaker 7 (01:53:02):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
My goodness, hell out of position to his left weeks
back into the placeland his goal stick. Oh they're still
buzzing here and they can't.

Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
Believe thanks to Fox Sports Las Vegas ninety eight point
nine FM and thirteen forty a m Aiden Hill.

Speaker 1 (01:53:21):
With the save of you know, I'm calling it out
save of the finals so far. That's my hot take
save of the finals so far. Now, it's the Stanley Cup.
You can't call it the finals. It's the Stanley Cup.
The hockey. Hockey fans will get math. I'm just trying
to I'm looking at it right. Stanley Cup Finals. No,
it says Stanley Cup and is the final, but it's
not Stanley Cup Finals. It's only one Stanley Cup, thank you.

Speaker 8 (01:53:44):
It's not trigonometry.

Speaker 1 (01:53:45):
Yeah, I'm just trying to help because hockey. Please, Hockey
people will get mad at that.

Speaker 2 (01:53:49):
I said to you, will play. It's not triggeronnoptrin. I
came up here and I told y'all last week that
I in my first five years of school, all five, one, two, three,
four fifth grade teachers.

Speaker 1 (01:54:00):
All of them went on maternity league. And to that
day I can't add yeah a fault. That was a
funny that that was That was a funny story. Was
that Aaron May you were just playing I like that vibe. Man, Yeah,
I like that. That's a vibe right there. Man, real quick,
we won Vegas. We were doing big guys earlier. I
wanted to throw a funny one out there. Do you

(01:54:21):
guys remember Oliver Miller? I do remember, y'all. Remember. I
remember they came back, when they came back from the lockout,
and he was with the Kings. How big he had gotten.
They remember the game. They go to Phoenix and normally
the gorilla is in the normal buff gorilla suit, but
they bought a mascot, like a big gorilla out with
an Oliver Miller jersey on, and Oliver Miller tried to

(01:54:42):
fight the mascot. But the fact that, yeah, but the
fact that you know, back then now teams were all
different colors, doesn't matter if your home or away. But
back then, if you were at home, you had to
wear your white. And the fact that he would still
put on a white uniform. Man and brave the jokes
if social media was out back then. But Oliver Miller
was another one. I thought of, man, seven point six

(01:55:02):
rebounds career, are you paying me to be in the NBA?

Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
I got, I got, I got one million words for
all of you Twitter thugs. All right, that's all I
got to say. Did you know I found this out
the other day? Escalate of one and one, that's Mark
Jackson's brother. Real mm hmm, okay?

Speaker 6 (01:55:24):
Was he?

Speaker 1 (01:55:25):
Oh baby? Oh babe? Was that Escalat that did the mic?
Because I know, I know, but I thought he also was.
I thought he started out you yeah, see, I thought
I thought he started out being the mic guy and
then he wanted to also he then he also wanted
to play. I remember going to the when I first
moved out here, I was doing security at Gramman's Chinese
movie Theater for Global Security black you know, shoot and

(01:55:47):
tie type security world work. I work, yeah, yeah, not
on duty. I worked the premiere of the and one
movie and then went with all of them in e
forty to the White Lotus to hang out on party afterwards.
I remember when it came with a whole documentary movie,
they had a whole red carpet event for it. It
wasn't huge, but it was big enough and had some
NBA player, said Tim Duncan. Was there some NBA player show?

(01:56:08):
But and one man? I missed that era, but it
did add walking and traveling into the NBA. So guess
not so.

Speaker 2 (01:56:14):
I guess like they watched the movie and then everybody
was just sitting there waiting for e forty two. Tell
them when to go to the afterpart. All right, pick
a number, any number one through one hundred. We're going
back to connor Ors one hundred bowld NFL predictions.

Speaker 1 (01:56:28):
Thank you Connor for doing His mom has a birsket
coming up. She turned sixty six years old. Shout out
to my mom, Doctor Glendora Spearman. So we'll go with
number sixty six.

Speaker 2 (01:56:37):
Number sixty six is as you can hear me rattling
the papers. I'm all over the place. We got this
one right here, I promise, sure, So sure you go.

Speaker 1 (01:56:46):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (01:56:47):
Derek Carr will throw more than thirty touchdowns for the
second time in his career, for.

Speaker 1 (01:56:52):
Your Saints, for your beloved Saints. Man, you're still not
in on this move. We'll talk more fotball. We got
so much time to talk football. You see how excited
to get we start talking football. But I like this
for them, man, I really do. You are not so
you won't even look up right now. You're just looking,
you guys to see Mary. Marty's just looking down with
kind of this smirk on his face, like when he

(01:57:13):
read the one about the Patriots. To me, that's the
look Martin has on his face now about Derek Carr
as the quarterback for his beloved New Orleans Saints.

Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
I have affordable tattooed on my back. No kidding, but
I just so like, I'm not new to this. I'm
true to this. Okay, Yeah, I'm with you, like dog.
Dennis Allen went from being the same defensive coordinator to
the Raiders head coach at Oakland.

Speaker 1 (01:57:39):
I know they moved from Oakland. Maybe people don't remember
he was.

Speaker 2 (01:57:42):
The worst coaching NFL history per winning percentage at Oakland.

Speaker 1 (01:57:46):
His quarterback at the time.

Speaker 2 (01:57:48):
Derek Carr. Oh, let's get that match made in Heaven
back together. Things are going so well in Las Vegas
with Derek Carr. Used to be that the quarterback that
they signed foot has been broken, yeah, for over a year.
And the whole thing was they run it into the

(01:58:09):
contract and said, if your foot doesn't heal, we don't
have to pay you. And they still the Las Vegas
Raiders would rather move on from the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:58:19):
They had to get broke foot guy. Not to mention
they have a forty five year old front office ownership type,
guy who's floir, who's flirting openly flirting, would possibly come
in back. So I ain't got no time for that.
I ain't got no time not ready.

Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
If it actually, if he follows the papers, then we
could talk about right now. I want to talk about
guys who are active and actively. Derek Carr and Dennis
Allen have the worst winning percentage head coach of quarterback combination.
You know why because Derek Dennis Allen has been the
worst coach in NFL history. Derek Carr has how many
playoff appearances? V J, remind me one exactly?

Speaker 1 (01:58:58):
He broke one?

Speaker 8 (01:59:00):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
No, no?

Speaker 1 (01:59:01):
Did he have two?

Speaker 4 (01:59:01):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:59:03):
One playoff game they play? Yeah, that he played against
Cincinnati then came down to him thrown into the end
zone on the fourth down, last play of the game
and they lost. But the one where he was on
his way to possibly an MVP. He was possibly on
his way to an MVP that year. That was so
long ago that that was Connor Cook's rookie year. Connor Cook,
I covered what I was at the Michigan thing. I'm

(01:59:27):
thirty three, all right, that was ten years ago. Realistically,
it's a long way away.

Speaker 2 (01:59:34):
Hell, and you know this flow under all the radar.
I don't know if anybody saw this coming down the pipe.
But do you know who just who came into New
Orleans took hissault on the offense. Yeah, yeah, John Gruden.

Speaker 1 (01:59:48):
There I told people listen, since that worked so well,
the bent is a new era. There's no can't honestly cancel.
Culture is getting out. Guys, you make a mistake. I forget.
Can't you have to talk about I didn't call. You
have to The boy did not have one boway he
las vegae, he went away and now he and now

(02:00:08):
he's given able to cancel Derek Carr's contract. That's what
I want to I want to get Martin in this mood.
Just just mentioned the Saints mincing the Saints. You get this, Martin,
God bless everybody about
