When we try to control our situation, it just ends up getting us stuck at point A instead of getting us closer to point B. It is possible to have much better self-talk through surrender. Despair is disconnect from reality. Your reality is full of hope because you have been created by God for a purpose. Unfortunately, it's too easy in our culture to get swept away with distraction and get caught up in despair. Try to remember the unseen things like God's faithfulness because, like we said earlier in the week, hope is invisible.

Hope is anchored on the person of Jesus, not our situation. God is sovereign. Job talks about no plan of God being thwarted. God loves us. Wants the best for us. Works everything for the good of those who love Him. God is holy. He uses His power perfectly and will never take advantage of us.

What's the best way to get the best life? By doing what God created you to do. Being someone created by God for a purpose should fill us with hope. We are able to trust that He has a destiny in mind for us even if we can't see what that may be right now. There is freedom there.

Christianity is the only religion we've found that balances love of God, self, and others. Discipline is a great way to combat selfish tendencies.
