On In Five

On part eight of the guitar god Jimi Hendrix, we take a look at his life through 1970. We look at how the Band of Gypsies didn't pan out as how Jimi had originally hoped, how his dream studio opened just in time for him to say goodbye to it, and how a seemingly random set of circumstances would line Jimi up perfectly to walk him straight to his untimely death.  

On part seven of our first musician ad infinitum, Jimi Hendrix, we travel with him through the year 1969, where the Jimi Hendrix Experience was disbanded, Jimi tried out his new band at Woodstock, and Mike Jeffery tightened his hold on the young guitar prodigy.

On this episode of On In Five, we are looking at even more of Jimi as he navigated his way through 1968; losing his long time manager Chas Chandler, finally dealing with his first manager Ed Chalpin, and even hinting at a full breakup of the Jimi Hendrix Experience as the world knew it. 

On part five of our deep, deep dive into Jimi Hendrix, we take a look at his life during the 2nd half of 1967, when the 25 year old would reemerge in the United States and attempt to simultaneously become the biggest rock star on both sides of the pond.

We look at how he felt pushed out of the second label he joined, how he helped to put a variety of studios on the map, and how he handled the simultaneous worlds of doing stardom his way, and keeping himself and his family private. 

In part three of our series on experimental rocker Tom Waits, we take a look at his life through the 80's, after he left his longtime label to try out something completely new, pushing the boundaries on what his music could be, and trying out his talents on the big screen as well on the stage.
