Tell me about that baseball writing because I would imagine
it's a lot different than when you wrote, because I
think games story writing in basketball is different now than
when I wrote.

When people were reading your when you covered the team,
that might be their only account of what went on,
So you had to be specific, had to give a
lot of details because they probably didn't see the game right,
They didn't know what happened now with social media and
all those other things.

You know, you have a lot of that already.

So there is opinion analysis worked in the game stories, Chris,
That's the important thing, not just uh, the Dodgers won
five to four. Here's who had the hits. Here's who
pitched eight and two third inning?

Like, that's not what the future baseball writing is. So
and I'm gonna have different guests. I got, you know,

we were talking a little baseball, but let's go to
the NBA and last night the Golden State Warriors lost

the game to the Sacramento Kings. That's not the huge story.
The huge story is that they were leading by twenty
four points and they still lost the game.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Chrise, I gotta admit I turned it off.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
You thought it was over. Yeah, I'm having dinner. I
was watching. I just watched the third quarters, you know.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
What I mean. And I was like, oh, this is over.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
I did yep, yep, Well it wasn't over. And huh.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
And they lost once again, and they had fallen to
eight and ten. It's still early eight and ten. But
one of the reporters said to Steve Kerr that they're
in freefall, and he said, they're not in free fall.
They've lost one, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight
(05:11):
of their last ten games, and a lot of that
was without Draymond Green.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Remember we had the five game suspension. But look, I
don't know that I call it free fall either, Rob
I would, Yeah, I wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I mean again, Draymond is an important part of that team,
and without him, it's gonna be tough for them to win.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
And it is early.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
But what I'd say is that this is a weird
situation for the Warriors. Like because of their age, Rob
with Steph who's thirty five, and Clay's thirty three, and
Draymond obviously is an older player. They do have some
young guys, but for the most part of the old
team Chris Paul, because of their age, in their pedigree,

the four championships they've won, they are a team that
you know is championship or bust. Right, It's like they're
only playing for championships.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
That's it. But they are not a championship team anymore.
They're not. And that is where like Steve Kerr still
kind of talking like they're gonna be very good.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
I think they'll be better. They'll probably make the play
in or playoffs, but win the championship. I don't see
that happening. Steph Curry is the only one. He's averaging
like thirty points a game. He's the only one left
there that's playing at that level. And Draymond is is
(06:50):
not as good.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Clay is not as good.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Thirty three Rob thirteenth year, all the injuries, the surgeries
he's had, saying they're horrible, they're just not as good.
And Andrew Wiggins has really hurt him in that Uh,
he's really not playing well at all. He's averaging twelve
points a game. Ron And remember that last championship they won,

they would not have won without Andrew Wiggins playing great,
and so that's hurt them as well. And he's only
twenty eight, so you know, there's talking about him being
out of shape.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
It's just how are you gonna be out of shape
at twenty eight years old, Chris, You're in the prime
of your life.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
That that that should not be the case. And so yeah,
I just think.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Look, if they're going to be able to you know,
if they want to try to win the championship, it's
gonna take major trades. Klay Thompson is in the last
year of his deal Rob and.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
He wants a new one, and he's he he's barking.
And if I'm the Warriors, you could bark all you want, Okay,
because I'm not gonna pay your fat.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
He's been paid. I'm not paying you for the future.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
And in the future for what you did in the past.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Yeah, because he got paid.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
He got paid, Chris, Like, he got paid for all
that stuff.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Right, and we carried you for two years when you
were hurt.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Let's just be honest, Okay, you got two years worth
of pay, Chris when you couldn't play, and nobody's blaming you,
but don't act like we owe you more now.

Right, right? And I get Look, it'd be great.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I think everybody would want in theory Clay to finished
his career with the Warriors, and you know all of
that for all he's done for him, But if they
want to win championships, Rob, it's often ugly at the
end of a great run, right, And they got a
championship that shocked people. A couple of years ago. People

thought they were done then and they got that ring.
But now you know, I agree, I mean Draymond, they
ended up extending him at a discount four years, one
hundred million.

I don't know that you can trade him.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Uh, the age the.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Contract which Rob he's signed through twenty twenty seven.

So he's still doing the same after this.

And that's the thing, Like the Warriors will handle that
stuff better than anybody, and they're having trouble with it, right,
So you go somewhere else and you.

Do that, it's not gonna be good.

And even Steph Curry said it is. You said it
was dumb, you know, like the technical Chris, like like
like even in the press, it's dumb. Yeah, can't you
can't keep making these dumb mistakes. Uh, and drem up with.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
It because he was good, but he's he's not good
good enough anymore.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
It's just as simple.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
As that that that was a bad loss for a
lot of reasons. They have their team, those guys are playing.
It ain't like, oh, Steph's not there, Clay's not playing,
Draymond's no that they had their squad. You can't lose
that game. I'm sorry, Chris, you cannot lose that game.
There's something there that that's not right or wrong.

And and eight out of ten is a free fall
for this group. I get it.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Draymond missed the five games with the suspension, but they
just haven't played like and that's what I said yesterday,
like they're not gonna get better. And what I mean,
I don't think eight out of ten. I'm not saying that.
But as you get older is what I'm saying. Like
it's not like you could turn the switch on. We
saw last year where they were Chris Paul last night

had what three points.

I don't know exactly what it was, but it obviously
wasn't one good performance. Well, so those are the guys
they've got. I mean, could they traded Chris Paul. Maybe
he's got one year ribbed next year at thirty one
million on his deal.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
I don't know who's signing up for that. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Clay will be tradable as the season goes on because
he's an expiring contract and it's forty three million dollars.
But they, I don't know, they're kind of stuck. It's
the it's the Steph Curry Show. He's still putting up
big numbers and he's still playing well. And they'll have
their nights where they make you think, oh, you know,

but as far as winning a championship, that's the thing
they are. They're not there, and you know, that's just
the way it is. So I don't know what they
can do. I think they they're gonna it's gonna be
tough for them to make some moves. Wiggins at this
point Rob Wiggins designs through twenty twenty seven two wow,

at about twenty eight million a year, and so it's
gonna be tough for them to make the moves to
get themselves over the top.

So they are what they are, basically, right, I mean,
there's not a lot of maneuvering except for the beat.

It's gonna be hard.

Yeah, Clay you can Clay, you can move and and
I know a lot of people, you know, you get
sentimental with players, and I'm with you, it'd be great
if you get to play your whole career.

Twenty years with the Yankees. I always felt like Tom
Brady should have been that guy too with the Patriots.
It didn't work out that way. There's certain players that
you would think and Steph will be that guy. I
can't see him playing in any.

Other uniform, right, Stephan, He's the one that I just
don't Yeah, I just don't see him playing anywhere.

Could Raymond play one or two years in Detroit, you
know the end of his career, Yeah, he could if
they the way they're giving away money to ask Manti Williams, Chris,
I just can't get over where bad they are, Like, really,
they're horrible, horrible.

They've lost fourteenth straight.

The Lakers are in town tonight in Detroit, but anyway
in Detroit.

But I don't know, Like I said, I think they'll
play better at times I think they'll have a little
stretch here and there where people are like, oh oh,
watch out for the war But I just think, and
I think Clay can get better. Rob, you know, I mean,
he's kind of in a shooting swampy shooting forty percent.
He's only he's shooting thirty seven from three. He's not

shooting horribly from three. But I think he can play
a little better. But the thing is, like I said,
this is a team everybody's thinking of as a champion
period the end. And that's what I don't see with them.

get rid of Draymond as soon as you can, get

rid of playing that horrible contract, and just rebuilt naturally
through the process of tanking for a couple of seasons
and rebuilding through the draft. There's no way they can
take any these pieces are building around any of them
because they're too old, and the new school teams like
the Kings, the Thunder and everybody in between. It's taking over.

has as many championships as he as Lebron.

But I look again, he could go somewhere else and

have a legitimate shot, and that would be huge. But
I don't like, I'm like, I'm with you. I don't
necessarily see anything like this happening. And Rob they've only
played they haven't even played eight minutes in Detroit and

He's not running around running any drills right like all

out there. That's something that there's a lot to be
said about just even getting to that moment and having

this moment just soon. The reality of it is is
he I don't I don't care about what he's doing
on the practice field. Unless he's in full go and
he's actually practicing, you can miss me with all the extras.
Like unless he's a full go, then talk to me.
But then then that puts me in a position of

I'm watching and hoping that nothing happens, because if something
then happens, all that security that's there with his coaching
staff now, in my opinion, it's it's no more because
you need you would have put your quarterback at risk
just because he wanted to prove a point.

that is they're desperate, right, so they're willing to do
any and everything just to try to appear in the
ps of the fan base and to appear relevant. I
get it. Their season was in ruins. The moment Aaron

went down after those four games or for those four snaps,
this season was over. I don't think any of us
believe that they had a chance to do any special.
And moving forward now that it's kind of this lowered
expectation of Okay, well it's not year one. If Aaron
Rodgers any longer, can he still find a way to

get this team to be competitive even next year? And
I don't know if that is even a case, the
case with this type of significant injury, it's gonna take
time for him to get back to one. We'll see.

I grew up with that team. That was my team

you've blown out all these bad teams, but you lost
obviously the Philadelphia, no shame there, but you lost that
game and you lost badly to San Francisco.

What is the mentality?

Are you going into this game thinking, look, let's prove
we can beat a good team or does it matter
the fact that you're blowing out these bad teams?

Does that make up a race?

Kind of that memory against San Francisco and any doubt
that that might have created on.

That team, not at all. You don't as a player,
you don't care who's on your schedule. You can only
play who's on your schedule. So you take care of business.
And it's the way the Dallas Cowboys is been approaching
all these games. They can't. It doesn't matter who's on
their schedule and who's up next. It's matter the matter.
What really matters is if they get it done. Because
even if you've been calling those teams samata cans, if

they would have lost so multiple Samata cans, that would
have been even more of an indictment on that team,
the organization. And so for me, when you look at
the Seattle Seahawks, they're a playoff team right now. They
just have to get a win. I don't care how
you get it. You gotta you just gotta get one
because it applies pressure to a team in your division
to then win on Sunday, and it gives you an

opportunity to still try to reach your goal, which is
capturing that number one overall seeds.

No, no, no doubt, no doubt about it. The talk
about Michael Parsons saying that Dak Prescott is that should
be ahead of Patrick Mahomes or should be in the
top three. I guess is what he said for MVP.
Where are you on that with Dak? And is it
just compiling numbers or strength of opponents and kind of

wins factor in as well.

Look, I believe right now, the way that Dak has
been playing in these last few weeks, he is the
MVP at the National Football League. There's no wow, There's
no player that you can put up against him that
that we can say, oh, yep, they've been playing better
than Dak Prescott. You can't. You can't do that unless
you unless Tyreek Hill gets the two K.

And the what Jalen Hurts has done doesn't hasn't moved
you at all.

Look, look, we don't the problem with what Jalen Hurts
and what he's done. He's had moments throughout the courses
of these games, and I love Jalen Hurts. Where he
hasn't been, he hasn't been the MVP. Like in last
week's game for three whole quarters it was like where
the tecular hurt?

I mean, we have five touchdowns, but he had five touchdowns.

And I totally, I totally hear you, guys, But if
you look at you. There has to be there has
to be the wild factor. He has the wild factor
the Jalen Hurts. He has that if this team continues
to win and he continues to play at a high level,
I think that he's putting it together a season in

the case of which you can argue his case. But
Jack Truscott, right now, this team is playing well. The
only case that you can argue against him is the
fact that, oh, they're not playing tough opponents.

I think I think that's huge being I think that's
huge the team that he piles up the big numbers
against UH and all it takes is one for another
bad outing against a good team, and nobody will even
consider that that's the problem because of his history.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. We will see if
that continues to play well regardless of who he's playing,
just because he's playing these teams. If he weren't performing

has no chance. But the fact that he's performing with
these teams that he's been given to play on the schedule. Look,

out and sign him to a ten year contract, you

So there is opinion analysis worked in the game stories, Chris,

the NBA and last night the Golden State Warriors lost

the game to the Sacramento Kings. That's not the huge story.
The huge story is that they were leading by twenty
four points and they still lost the game.

Chrise, I gotta admit I turned it off.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
You thought it was over. Yeah, I'm having dinner. I
was watching. I just watched the third quarters, you know.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
What I mean. And I was like, oh, this is over.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
I did yep, yep, Well it wasn't over. And huh.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
And they lost once again, and they had fallen to
eight and ten. It's still early eight and ten. But
one of the reporters said to Steve Kerr that they're
in freefall, and he said, they're not in free fall.
They've lost one, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight

of their last ten games, and a lot of that
was without Draymond Green.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Remember we had the five game suspension. But look, I
don't know that I call it free fall either, Rob
I would, Yeah, I wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I mean again, Draymond is an important part of that team,
and without him, it's gonna be tough for them to win.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
And it is early.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
But what I'd say is that this is a weird
situation for the Warriors. Like because of their age, Rob
with Steph who's thirty five, and Clay's thirty three, and
Draymond obviously is an older player. They do have some
young guys, but for the most part of the old
team Chris Paul, because of their age, in their pedigree,

the four championships they've won, they are a team that
you know is championship or bust. Right, It's like they're
only playing for championships.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
That's it. But they are not a championship team anymore.
They're not. And that is where like Steve Kerr still
kind of talking like they're gonna be very good.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
I think they'll be better. They'll probably make the play
in or playoffs, but win the championship. I don't see
that happening. Steph Curry is the only one. He's averaging
like thirty points a game. He's the only one left
there that's playing at that level. And Draymond is is
(06:50):
not as good.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Clay is not as good.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Thirty three Rob thirteenth year, all the injuries, the surgeries
he's had, saying they're horrible, they're just not as good.
And Andrew Wiggins has really hurt him in that Uh,
he's really not playing well at all. He's averaging twelve
points a game. Ron And remember that last championship they won,

they would not have won without Andrew Wiggins playing great,
and so that's hurt them as well. And he's only
twenty eight, so you know, there's talking about him being
out of shape.

It's just how are you gonna be out of shape
at twenty eight years old, Chris, You're in the prime
of your life.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
That that that should not be the case. And so yeah,
I just think.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Look, if they're going to be able to you know,
if they want to try to win the championship, it's
gonna take major trades. Klay Thompson is in the last
year of his deal Rob and.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
He wants a new one, and he's he he's barking.
And if I'm the Warriors, you could bark all you want, Okay,
because I'm not gonna pay your fat.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
He's been paid. I'm not paying you for the future.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
And in the future for what you did in the past.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Yeah, because he got paid.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
He got paid, Chris, Like, he got paid for all
that stuff.

Right, and we carried you for two years when you
were hurt.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Let's just be honest, Okay, you got two years worth
of pay, Chris when you couldn't play, and nobody's blaming you,
but don't act like we owe you more now.

Right, right? And I get Look, it'd be great.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I think everybody would want in theory Clay to finished
his career with the Warriors, and you know all of
that for all he's done for him, But if they
want to win championships, Rob, it's often ugly at the
end of a great run, right, And they got a
championship that shocked people. A couple of years ago. People

thought they were done then and they got that ring.
But now you know, I agree, I mean Draymond, they
ended up extending him at a discount four years, one
hundred million.

I don't know that you can trade him.

Uh, the age the.

Contract which Rob he's signed through twenty twenty seven.

So he's still doing the same after this.

And that's the thing, Like the Warriors will handle that
stuff better than anybody, and they're having trouble with it, right,
So you go somewhere else and you.

Do that, it's not gonna be good.

And even Steph Curry said it is. You said it
was dumb, you know, like the technical Chris, like like
like even in the press, it's dumb. Yeah, can't you
can't keep making these dumb mistakes. Uh, and drem up with.

It because he was good, but he's he's not good
good enough anymore.

It's just as simple.

As that that that was a bad loss for a
lot of reasons. They have their team, those guys are playing.
It ain't like, oh, Steph's not there, Clay's not playing,
Draymond's no that they had their squad. You can't lose
that game. I'm sorry, Chris, you cannot lose that game.
There's something there that that's not right or wrong.

And and eight out of ten is a free fall
for this group. I get it.

Draymond missed the five games with the suspension, but they
just haven't played like and that's what I said yesterday,
like they're not gonna get better. And what I mean,
I don't think eight out of ten. I'm not saying that.
But as you get older is what I'm saying. Like
it's not like you could turn the switch on. We
saw last year where they were Chris Paul last night

had what three points.

I don't know exactly what it was, but it obviously
wasn't one good performance. Well, so those are the guys
they've got. I mean, could they traded Chris Paul. Maybe
he's got one year ribbed next year at thirty one
million on his deal.

I don't know who's signing up for that. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Clay will be tradable as the season goes on because
he's an expiring contract and it's forty three million dollars.
But they, I don't know, they're kind of stuck. It's
the it's the Steph Curry Show. He's still putting up
big numbers and he's still playing well. And they'll have
their nights where they make you think, oh, you know,

but as far as winning a championship, that's the thing
they are. They're not there, and you know, that's just
the way it is. So I don't know what they
can do. I think they they're gonna it's gonna be
tough for them to make some moves. Wiggins at this
point Rob Wiggins designs through twenty twenty seven two wow,

at about twenty eight million a year, and so it's
gonna be tough for them to make the moves to
get themselves over the top.

So they are what they are, basically, right, I mean,
there's not a lot of maneuvering except for the beat.

sentimental with players, and I'm with you, it'd be great
if you get to play your whole career.

Twenty years with the Yankees. I always felt like Tom
Brady should have been that guy too with the Patriots.

Other uniform, right, Stephan, He's the one that I just
don't Yeah, I just don't see him playing anywhere.

Could Raymond play one or two years in Detroit, you
know the end of his career, Yeah, he could if

I just can't get over where bad they are, Like, really,

He's not running around running any drills right like all

out there. That's something that there's a lot to be
said about just even getting to that moment and having

on the practice field. Unless he's in full go and

this season was over. I don't think any of us
believe that they had a chance to do any special.
And moving forward now that it's kind of this lowered

Rodgers any longer, can he still find a way to

I don't know if that is even a case, the
case with this type of significant injury, it's gonna take
time for him to get back to one. We'll see.

all these games. They can't. It doesn't matter who's on
their schedule and who's up next. It's matter the matter.
What really matters is if they get it done. Because
even if you've been calling those teams samata cans, if

they would have lost so multiple Samata cans, that would
have been even more of an indictment on that team,
the organization. And so for me, when you look at
the Seattle Seahawks, they're a playoff team right now. They
just have to get a win. I don't care how
you get it. You gotta you just gotta get one
because it applies pressure to a team in your division
to then win on Sunday, and it gives you an

opportunity to still try to reach your goal, which is
capturing that number one overall seeds.

about Michael Parsons saying that Dak Prescott is that should
be ahead of Patrick Mahomes or should be in the

Where are you on that with Dak? And is it

Look, I believe right now, the way that Dak has
been playing in these last few weeks, he is the

And the what Jalen Hurts has done doesn't hasn't moved

Jack Truscott, right now, this team is playing well. The
only case that you can argue against him is the
