Speaker 1 (00:00):
Femoral little bit all right, joining me on zoom right now,
fifteen time Grammy winner, the incredibly talented Adele. Welcome to
the show. How are you hi, I'm good, thanking. That's
quite introduction, blood. You know, we gotta welcome. We have
to welcome you properly. I am, I'm doing well and
congrats on this new album thirty. Everyone is all excited
about it. How would you say your songwriting has evolved
(00:24):
from your last album to now? Um? I think lyrically,
I think I've set my game up a little bit.
Um And definitely I'm not as frightened as I was
on my last record to sort of like really go
there with them how I feel in my honesty and
stuff like that. Um. But I definitely got really into
(00:45):
sort of seventies music, um again on this one, which
has a slightly different sort of process to it, Like
you know, it's a lot of live music all being
plaid at once and stuff like that in the studio.
So probably those things. Really do you say that that
you got less frightened to kind of go there? What
do you think helped you with that? Um? I think
(01:07):
I just stopped caring as much as I did before
about you know, anything that might be taken out of
context and you know, and stuff like that. But also
like how you know I was. I definitely became more
of an open book for myself in the last a
few years and you know, my firties so far. Um
and it's only kind of led to me feeling better
(01:27):
about myself and feeling less sort of heavy with my emotions.
UM So I just sort of put that into into
the work aspect, really my creativity and stuff like that,
and it's yeah, I just felt more chilled about it. Well,
the CD has three exclusive tracks that are only available
at Target. And you know, obviously the benefit to your
(01:47):
fan is they're getting some additional music. What is the
benefit to an artist to do an exclusive deal like that? Um,
I don't really know, to be honest with you, but
that thirteen fourteen songs on a record feels too long
for me, like you know, for a standard album. And
also the songs on this album are like some of
them are like eight nine minutes long. I mean, you know, so, um,
(02:09):
it has to get a double vinyl and all of that,
so it would have probably have like a triple vinyl
or something silly like that. Had I done all of it,
but I just, um, you know, I don't have loads
of spare music. I don't write music all the time.
You know, when I'm writing an album is when I
is when I write. So I want to use up
all the songs, um, you know that I might have
written for that record. I don't want any just lying
(02:30):
around because I don't need them, you know. So I
just I just want them all out into in the
world more than anything. Well, one of the exclusive tracks
is easy on Me with Chris Stapleton. That is quite
the collaboration. And and do wet there? How did that
come about? It came about because I kept hearing a
harmony on the chorus of easy on Me, um, and
(02:53):
it was it was a male harmony. It was just
one one voice. But for some reason I couldn't. I
tried it and it weren't me when it you know,
I tried another friend of mine who's a woman, and
it didn't work. And there's something so country about Easy
on Me for me. Um. And Chris Stapleton's one of
my favorite singers in general, but also as a country artist.
(03:15):
I've loved him for years, like even when he was
in Steel Drivers, and stuff like that. So I got
his details shot myself when I was calling him out,
and and you know, I told him what I just
told you. But I just knew I couldn't ask Chris
Stapleton to just sing one harmony on a buddy chorus.
So he very kindly said yes to doing the whole thing,
(03:35):
um as a duet, and he sings like no one's
business on it. And it was, Yeah, it was incredible.
It was such a it was such an honor. Like,
like I said, I'm such a big fan of his.
It's it's beautiful. Well, obviously you're somebody that that everyone
wants to collaborate with. You worked with Chris Stapleton on this.
Is there someone else out there that you would really
(03:57):
love to collaborate with a duet duet with that that
you haven't had the chance too yet? Um? No, that
was you know, that was the first time I've ever
wanted to do a duet. You know, I've definitely been
asked quite a few times, and I've definitely always been
up for it and you know, sort of engaged in
the conversation, but the songs have just never been right.
But to be honest with you, I'd like to sing
(04:17):
on a Prostapleton song. Um, you know, so maybe one
let me return the favor. That would be incredible. Um. Well,
congrats again on the new album. It is thirty. You
can get it with three exclusive tracks only at Target. Adele.
