Speaker 1 (00:00):
Real on with Mario a little bit. Mario Lopez joining
us now on Zoom. The Bachelorette Katie Thurston and her
fiance Blake Moyne's welcome to the show and congratulations, thank you.
So y'all look happy and then love. What was it
like to watch this season I'm fold on TV. I mean,
it's a weird experience that most people don't have to

(00:22):
go through watching you know, uh, your exes with your fiance.
But we've survived that and we're just ready to be
out in public now and experience the real world. Yeah,
I gotta imagine it's kind of tough because then you
don't know how it's edited, and then you have to
know for dramatic purposes they have to go in certain directions. So, so, Blake,
what made you want to shoot your shot with Katie
after after you were on previous season. Yeah, it was

(00:46):
how she kind of hand herself on Mat James. She
was very, um, not perfect. She came very raw. She's
very raw and open and handle herself just she just
didn't come perfect and um, you know, I think that's
one thing I loved about her and how I thought
that we re aligned very well because I was kind
of the same way, and um, yeah, you said it all.

(01:07):
So Katie Blake basically called you a hot mess. Um,
yeah kidding. After the ways that uh Michael and Greg
left the show, what what what inspired you to finish
out the season? You know? Actually I got to talk
to Desiree, who was a previous bachelorette, and something kind
of similar happened to her, and she had inspired me
to continue. You know, you're that close to the end

(01:27):
of your journey, whether you end up alone or engaged
or with a boyfriend. She's like, you owe it to yourself.
You ought to these men to see it to the
very end. And so I was like, all right, I
picked myself up off the floor and just kept moving forward.
That's what you gotta do. Uh Blake, Was there any
doubt about proposing when when you saw Katie had a
tough time getting over Greg. Um No, I mean you

(01:50):
know there was. There was times obviously where she was
explaining the hot tub that she thought she wanted to leave.
At the same time, I was like, I knew that
we just needed to to get to that fantasy suitet
um um night and really express where we were at. Um.
I know, she obviously went through a lot, but try
just be understanding what she was going through, and um,
give it a little bit of time, and um we

(02:12):
came around on it. Very mature approach, Katie. You decided
to let Justin go before the fantasy sweets. What was
the moment when your mind was finally made up, like,
all right, this dude's gotta go. Well, you know what
people kind of forget is you know, I wasn't holding
the words I love you till the end. I was
holding it for the one. And when I realized Blake
was the one, it really wouldn't be fair to Justin

(02:33):
or myself or even you know, Blake to continue to
pursue Justin. And so I just really had to do
it as best for everybody and and say our goodbyes
and Blake. Um, is Katie's family opening up to you?
Are they warming up to you? Now? I'm excited for
that beer with Aunt Lindsay and I might just document it,
you know, you know what. I'm excited to meet her

(02:56):
family and see and have Aunt Lindsay see us in
real life. And maybe it'll make more sense to her
now that she sees us together, because at that time
she was. She was really on me, but rightfully, so yeah, um,
so what's next? Are we planning a wedding? Are we
taking our time? What's what's what's what our next steps?
So you know, it's there's a lot to deal with

(03:18):
right now. We um, we want to meet other's families.
We want to think about where we want to set
our roots. But that's gonna come and jumping to go
to San Diego where she's moving, and then have her
come up and see my lifestyle in Canada. And there's
times where I want to go to Africa and see
how much she can get involved Africa. So there's lots
of things. I think it's let's get the experience where
is where does it make the most sense, and then
maybe after yours so we'll set the roots, uh, permanently

(03:40):
somewhere you start racking up the miles in the meanwhile, Okay,
let's let's talk back to when Paradise Quickly. It premiers
on Monday, and Becca just joined the cast. Who are
you too interested in seeing the season? Oh my gosh,
I mean any of my excells from my season. I'm
just excited to watch because we both know those guys
pretty well. At this point. Um. But also I have

(04:00):
friends that are going to be there, like Tammy Um
from Peter Weber season and just Senia from my season
on on Matt's time. Um. So it's just great fun
for us to both watch it because we really I
want to almost know everybody to some degree, so we're
gonna be seeing it in a very different lens compared
to the average viewer. Yeah. I know all the guys
from the past two seasons, which there's a lot of
strong personalities there. Kenny is one of them. Uh noah,

(04:22):
And so I'm curious to see how those guys intertwined
with the season. I was just on, do they have
like Bachelor reunions or is their conventions? Because there's so
many seasons now, you would think, right like a comic
like a comic con for Bachelor's Batchel. Not a bad idea,
but maybe yeah, that's true. Good point. Good point. Well,

(04:44):
maybe I'll can start it right there. Well, congratulations you two,
and uh we hope to see you more in the future.
Bachelor in Paradise, by the Way, premieres on Monday. Katie Blake,
thanks so much for checking in with Mario a little bit.
