Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario a little bit. Mario Lopez joining
me now from the hit free Form show The Bold
Type actress Laura Hard and welcome back to the show.
M Laura. How are you. Yeah, I'm good. How are you?
I'm doing great? You look great. That's a that's a
pretty background right there. Are you at home? Thank you?
I am I at home. Yep, it's my dining room. Nice.
I like, like I said, there's your front door. Okay,
(00:22):
there it is. These zoom things are nice. You get
to see the style and and uh, you know, people's
taste and what have you. Uh, there are just a
few episodes left to the show before the series finale,
which is happening on June. I gotta imagine pretty emotional
when you were wrapping the show. Definitely definitely hard to
say goodbye to uh, you know, to four years of
(00:43):
time with the crew, and you know, especially through the
plastic mask and the U and the six ft apart
in the man and the face mask, it's a little
challenging to uh, you know, you don't get to give
the big the big massive hug that you really want
to give everybody. No, I know, and I thought I
saw a recent clip of The Bull Time that had
a little easter egg for fans of your other show,
(01:03):
The Office, of course, were you drinking out of a
dunder Mifflin mug on the show? That's right, That's right,
we did. We had a lot of a lot of
fun with that. The writers were like, I don't know,
I think maybe in the last season, like maybe it's
time we just like throw them a little stuff. But
what do you think? And I was like, I like it.
I like it. I love those kind of things. Those
are great. Anything else you can tease fans with that
(01:23):
will see in the final three episodes, well just that
I think. Uh, I think everyone will be pleased with
the way that the storylines wrap up and how the
characters sort of find their way. Um, nothing is you know,
it's not all wrapped up neatly with a bow. But
I do think that I would call it a happy
ending for the characters. Okay, can ask for more than that?
(01:44):
And I saw in your I G. You teamed up
with a few very important charities a couple of months
back to release a sarity A Serenity by Jan Candle
Stity by Jan by Melaura yes By, which is now
sold out congrats. That had to be fun. Yeah, And
I also made a T shirt that was that's what
he said. That's great, that's great. That was a good
(02:07):
little feminist statement because I feel like there's a lot
of things that the guy says, Actually we got what
we say. That's what she said. I'm like, no, no, no no,
that's actually what he said. That he said. Well, The
Surrendery by Jan Candle, of course, made its debut on
the Office during the Dinner Party episode, which was a
big fan favorite. How did you guys keep a straight
face on on that one? That had to be fun?
Oh my gosh, pretty hard that. Yeah, in that particular episode,
(02:29):
I think I really did crack up. It was so
exhausting and so hot, and I had trouble. I had trouble.
I mean, my job on that show is to always
be the straight man, So I was pretty good at
holding a straight face. But yeah, and that on that
particular episode, that particular night, I think at the end
of the night, I was just like, I couldn't I
couldn't hold it together. It made it, It makes it
challenging for sure. And I know you just did. Brian
(02:51):
Baumgartner's Office Deep Die podcast right, How how was that? Yeah?
That was so fun. It was so fun. Brian asked
great questions and because he was there, you know, it's
just it felt like Old Home Week in a way. Yeah,
this is a fun fact. I didn't know this. Um,
I don't know if a lot of people do. But
back in you start in the Dirty Dancing TV series
(03:12):
on CBS as baby. So did you have a dancing
background prior? I yes, I'm I was very serious ballerina
for years. I was. I went to Joffrey on scholarship
when I was thirteen years old, and uh, yeah, I was.
I was very serious and I um and I always
thought I was going to be a ballerina and that
acting was sort of my you know, my my hobby. Um,
(03:35):
but it kind of took over. But I still dance.
I still. I'm not a ballerina anymore, but I'm a
jazz dancer. I still take jazz and contemporary classes and um,
just for fun. And I you know, I've been on
Broadway when I did When I did Roxy on Broadway,
everybody was like having you dance like that, that's awesome.
You don't know that about me really for sae, you know, Yeah, exactly.
(03:56):
It was actually in Dirty Dancing, I had to pretend
I couldn't dance. Oh the eye an Yeah, so that
was hard. That was weird. I had to do that
on Different Strokes too, I was. I did an episode
of Different Strokes and I had to pretend I couldn't dance,
which was also very weird. That is weird and another
fun fact. So and in the Dinner Party episode, for
that matter, I specifically wanted to dance off the beat
(04:18):
because I thought it would be funny if Jan was
just a little bit like off the beat. Like I
just thought, like, just so into that song, the Hunter
song that she's just like kind of like taken away,
not quite dancing right. I love people that are offbeat
and have no rhythm but they still commit. Those are
my favorite because they're still having a good time and
you know, it's like those karaoke singers who can't sing
(04:39):
but they still go for it right there. Well, that
that begs the question, of course, have you considered Dancing
with the Stars? Would be nice to showcase all those talents.
I thought about it. I have thought about it. There
was one time that it almost happened, um and uh,
that was just I think it was really the pandemic.
I think that messed it up because of the way
that the timing happened, and and I was working, and
(05:00):
you know, yeah, yeah, it's just it's trying to find
a time when it works for them and works for me.
And but but I have thought about it. I do
think it would be fun. Yeah, I mean I don't know.
I think you kill it. I think you'd have. Yes,
I think you'd kill it, and you'd have you'd have
a lot of fun. You'd have a lot of people.
Did you do it? Third season? And you did? You
(05:22):
love it? I had a good time. Yeah, I did
it just because my mom wanted me to do They
had been asking me, and so I did it. And
I like you like dance when I was younger as well,
So it was fun to kind of revisit and so
I ended up having a good time. I think you
would like it. Did you get far? I did? I
made it, although I was in first place every week
until the last week and then us it was political. Yeah,
(05:44):
then Emmett Smith decided because he hasn't won anything, poor guy,
they decided to But you know what the irony is
After the first hundred episodes. Then the people voted me
their favorite and best answer after the one, So yeah,
go figure. Yeah, well that's a big that's actually cool. Congratulations,
thanks a lot. I hope to see you now. M
Laura provided a little inspiration there, so you can give
(06:06):
you a new little boost. Okay, good good, Um. Before
I let you go, I'm gonna put you on the spot.
Quick questions, quick answers. Okay, I'll try favorite dance movie.
Uh well, oh god, foot Loose and Flash Dance. I'm
going Saturday Turning Point and Turning Point and Turning Point.
You didn't go Saturday Night Fever. It's my I want point. Yeah,
(06:28):
but do you remember Turning Point? I don't. I mean,
it was a ballet movie, but it was unbelievably it
was an amazing movie. Okay, well now I'm gonna have
to look it up. Worst pizza topping, worst pizza topping, Pineapple.
I don't like that that aggration you have right there,
(06:49):
that's debatable. I have been a fan. Starting the question
if you could uninvent something, what would it be? Um,
oh my god, five things came in my head. All Um,
(07:10):
if I could uninvent something, it would be Um, I
can't I'm sorry, it's question which one is the best
one to say? Um, there are no there are no
wrong answers, by the ways, weapons Okay, there you go.
(07:31):
See I was going with social media, but all right, yeah,
and last one, who would you cast to play Malaura
Harden in the biopic? She's got to be able to dance.
That's hilarious. I probably would cast my daughter Rory Jackson.
Keep it in the family. An amazing actors. Oh nice,
good to know what. It was nice catching up and
(07:54):
I hope to see you dancing soon. To see you
as always it always is. You're always so bright and pleasant.
I appreciate it. Well, don't forget. You can catch Mlaura
Harden in the final episodes of The bowld Type Wednesday
