Watching the sparkling ball drop in Times Square has been a New Year's Eve tradition for decades, and as its popularity has grown, so has the televised broadcast. The telecast now features parties in various cities around the country, though the big spectacle is still in New York City.
On Monday (November 26), Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve announced the first wave of performers for this year's Hollywood party, and as always they span a wide range of genres.
The name we were most excited to see was Foster The People (the show is called "New Year's rockin' Eve" after all). The Chainsmokers will also be amping up the crowd before the clock strikes midnight.
Country superstar Kelsea Ballerini will also be gracing the NYE stage, along with pop heavyweights Charlie Puth and Dua Lipa, hip-hop hero Macklemore with Skylar Grey, and R&B rising star Ella Mai. And according to the announcement, that list "doesn't even scratch the surface."
