Another beloved television show for years past is getting the reboot treatment. Hot on the heels of talk that Gossip Girl might be returning, Tori Spelling confirmed that Beverly Hills, 90210 is officially coming back. The original cast is on board for the revival, however, there's one big twist: they're going pay heightened versions of themselves.
During an appearance on Access Hollywood, Tori told the hosts "it's confirmed. We're doing a new 90210." She went on to describe the revival, saying "it's the OG crew back together and we're playing heightened versions of ourselves. The fans will be pleasantly surprised, though, because we will intercut that with scenes from the show. So it'll be a whole ensemble cast playing a heightened version of themselves."
"Think 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' episodes, in an hour long show, and we're all playing heightened versions, so it could be fictional, it could be non-fictional, people will have to guess," she told E!'s Daily Pop. "And then we will have pop-ins, because we're behind the scenes trying to do the reboot."
It's unclear whether she meant they will be intercutting scenes from the show's original run or whether they will be shooting new scenes as their characters, as well.
Tori also confirmed that "almost everybody" from the original cast will be returning. The two holdouts are Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty. Luke is currently busy shooting Riverdale, but is still planning to "do as many [episodes] as he can do." Shannen left 90210 after the fourth season and has not yet committed to appearing in the revival. “If she’s watching, we would love to have you do it," Tori said of her former co-star during her interview.
Tori also confirmed that the revival will drop sometime in 2019. Will you be tuning in?
