Singer Sues Nipsey Hussle Estate Over 'Hussle & Motivate'

Nipsey Hussle's estate is facing yet another lawsuit.

According to TMZ, a singer by the name of Tasleema Yasin filed a claim with Los Angeles' Superior Court on Thursday (September 5) to get her cut of money she claims the late rapper made off his single "Hussle & Motivate."

Tasleema claims she wrote and performed a vocal phrase used throughout the track and says her voice is prominently featured in a countermelody, which can be heard throughout the song's chorus. Given her alleged additions to the song, she believes she's a co-author of "Hussle & Motivate" and should get a chunk of the track's earnings. While Tasleema didn't list a specific amount in her filing, she reportedly wants the estate to provide proper accounting so she can figure out how much she's owed for her contributions.

Nipsey, who passed away in March, dropped "Hussle & Motivate" a month prior to his death. It was featured on his Grammy-nominated album, Victory Lap.

Tasleema is not the first to sue Nipsey's estate. Back in May, Paramount Recording Group filed a creditor's claim that alleged the "Racks In The Middle" rapper never paid them the tens of thousands of dollars from a judgment they won against him and another party in 2012.

The $32,000 lawsuit was the first claim filed against Nipsey's estate.
