Meghan Markle is back.
The Duchess of Sussex returned to the U.K. for the first time since she and Prince Harry announced they'd be stepping down as full-time working members of the Royal Family. It's believed Meghan left Archie behind with caretakers in Canada when she flew to meet her husband in London. The Duke of Sussex has been in London for several days already.
Harry and Meghan are in London to attend their final royal engagements on behalf of Queen Elizabeth before officially stepping down at the end of the month. On Thursday (March 5), the Sussexes' will attend the Endeavour Fund Awards at Mansion House in their first public, joint appearance since January. They will also be at the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday (March 7).
Their final engagement will be the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. At the service, Harry and Meghan will publicly reunite with the Queen, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton. Harry has reportedly already caught up with his grandmother over a four lunch held at Windsor Castle on Sunday (March 1).
“The Queen had a lot to talk to Harry about and this was the ideal time for them to both say their piece," a source told The Sun. “When Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to quit it all happened very quickly and it was very stressful for all concerned. Sunday was the first time the Queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are. It was a much more relaxed environment and they were both able to speak their mind.”
Though the Queen was eager to patch things up with Harry and remind him that he and Meghan are "much loved and will always be welcomed back," she'll likely be disappointed they decided to leave Archie in Canada. “The queen’s worst fear is that she may never see Archie again,” a source told Us Weekly. “She’s trying to stay optimistic about this situation and would never stoop to casting any aspersions on Meghan’s character – even after everything that’s happened.”
