While Fall Out Boy should be traversing the globe on its Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Weezer right now, Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump gave fans the next best thing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday (June 17), the guys took park in a Cisco Live! online event where they stripped down a couple of their hits to perform for fans to fill the Fall Out Boy-sized hole in all of our hearts right now.
“What’s up Cisco Live? Fall Out Boy here — or half of us, Pete and Patrick,” Wentz opened up their set with. “We heard the theme of Live this year is ‘possibilities,’ so we appreciate Cisco technology making it possible for us to appear here virtually and play a couple songs for you guys.”
The duo first threw it back to 2005 with an acoustic version of “Sugar, We're Goin Down” — which comes at a great time since the band recently celebrated From Under The Cork Tree’s 15th anniversary.
To close out their two-song set, Wentz and Stump dedicated 2014's “Centuries” to “all the heroes” and the “IT heroes” making live streams like this one possible.
Wentz recently released “Check Your Phone” with Cheap Cuts and revealed if quarantine lasts six months he'll release a solo album.
Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and Green Day officially postponed the Hella Mega Tour last month but plan on returning to the same venues in 2021.
“We'll be announcing summer 2021 dates with the same venues very soon, so hold on to those tickets,” the bands wrote in a joint statement. “All ticket holders will be emailed directly with refund options as well. Please stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.”
