Nicki Minaj is about to drop a new joint!
A week after announcing her pregnancy news, the “Chun-Li” rapper took to Twitter on Monday (July 27) to tease her new collaboration with A$AP Ferg, titled “Move Ya Hips.”
Hype over the team-up blew on social media over the weekend after A$AP Rocky spilled the beans about the record on Twitter, catching the attention of Minaj. "SUMBODY TELL @ASAPferg 2 DROP DAT S—T WIT HIM N NICKI ASAP," the “Chewing Gum” emcee tweeted on (July 26), prompting the “Megatron” artist to respond, "Flacko, I heard it was coming Thursday but I could be wrong."
Ultimately, it was Ferg who would confirm the drop, tweeting, “The Queen is never wrong. ‘Move Ya Hips’ 7/30.”
With the rapper’s new record dropping Friday, this will be Minaj’s first track to release since the superstar revealed she and her husband, Kenneth Petty, are expecting their first child. She broke the surprise baby news herself, sharing several images of her posing in a series of colorful snapshots with her burgeoning baby bump on full display.
Additionally, “Move Ya Hips” is the latest in an impressive line of collabs from Minaj, who scored not one, but two Billboard Hot 100 hits in the first half of 2020. Her first triumph came when she hopped on the remixed version of Doja Cat’s smash hit “Say So,” which climbed the charts with Minaj’s co-sign. The mommy-to-be would repeat her success with her longtime collaborator, Tekashi 6ix9ine, who recruited Minaj for his number-one track “Trollz” last month.
