Poll: Ohioans Don't Think Trump Will Concede If Voters Elect New President

Ohioans aren’t confident President Donald Trump will concede if he loses the general election.

The Great Lakes Poll, by the Community Research Institute at Baldwin Wallace University with Ohio Northern University and Oakland University in Michigan, found that more than half of Ohio voters predict Trump will refuse election results if he loses.

The results show 53.6% of responders don’t expect the president to concede if voters elect Democratic challenger and former Vice President Joe Biden this November. Twenty-one percent of responders said they weren’t sure whether Trump would concede.

There was a difference, though, between Republicans and Democrats responding to the question. Of the Republican participants, 45% believe Trump would concede, versus 7.2% of Democrats, cleveland.com pointed out, also noting that Trump has repeatedly said he wouldn’t leave the White House peacefully and has made “baseless claims” of voter fraud, particularly given the surge of absentee ballots because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The poll also showed that Ohio voters remain split on Trump’s overall job performance, with 49.1% in approval and 49.6% disapproving.

The survey was conducted between September 30 and October 9, with about 4,000 likely voters between the four participating states: Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
