A former Tennessee Titans cheerleader has reportedly died from injuries sustained during a vehicle crash in downtown Nashville earlier this month.
Patrick Holz, 24, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the hospital confirmed to WKRN. Metro Police told WKRN Holz was involved in a vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near Exit 210C, between Second and Fourth avenues after leaving work on October 3.
Holz's Jeep was reportedly struck from behind by a Ford Explorer, which sent both vehicles into the right shoulder and caused Holz's Jeep to roll, according to Metro Police. The 24-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle, MNPD investigators reported.
Holz was transported to VUMC and initially listed to be in critical condition, prior to succumbing to injuries on Wednesday. Holz's girlfriend told WKRN that Holz's arm had to be amputated and the 24-year-old also tested positive for COVID-19, so visitors were prohibited in his hospital room.
A GoFundMe page was setup to help pay for Holz's emergency funds earlier this month, which has received 305 donations and raised $19,332 of its $30,000 goal.
"Patrick had a wild soul, but a heart of gold and loved all of his friends and family dearly," organizer Kelsey Smiley wrote on the GoFundMe page. "In this time he needs our help and I know whole-heartedly he would do the same for anyone else!"
