Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich’s marriage is officially over.
Hough filed her documents to a Los Angeles court on Monday (November 2) in order to formally end her marriage to the NHL player, The Blast has learned.
The 32-year-old professional dancer and the 37-year-old athlete broke the news of their separation in a joint statement back in May. “We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” they shared at the time. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”
Hough and Laich, who tied the knot in July 2017, sparked breakup rumors in the months leading up to the announcement after the duo became estranged while quarantining in different states amid the pandemic — with the 37-year-old in Idaho and Hough in Los Angeles.
“They argued a lot and just had different viewpoints on important issues,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time, mentioning that the Dancing with the Stars performer and her estranged husband were “trying to finding themselves separate from one another and deal with any issues they’ve faced that were exasperated while married.”
The divorce filing comes months after the couple was supposedly looking to reconcile. The two reunited in late-September for a weekend getaway together at a lake house, fueling reports that the lovebirds were looking to work things out. "Julianne and Brooks both want to try to make things work," a source close to the couple told Entertainment Tonight. "Friends closest to them see this time as very positive."
