A child and an adult were reportedly injured during a semi crash on Interstate 40 near downtown Nashville Monday morning.
Five other vehicles were also involved in the crash, which occurred in the westbound lanes of the interstate at the Fesslers Lane exit at around 7:30 a.m., WKRN reports.
The child and adult were both transported to a hospital with injuries, but neither is expected to be life-threatening, first responders told WKRN. All westbound lanes were reported to be shut down until at least 8:40 a.m. as first responders worked to clear the roadway.
FOX 17 News traffic reporter Samantha Russell shared TDOT's SmartWay footage of the traffic at around 7:45 a.m., which showed the crash causing major backup on the inbound commute.
Westbound traffic was at a standstill in the area near Fesslers Lane and caused back up to the I-24/I-440 junction and I-40 West at Briley Parkway, according to the TDOT livestream.
No additional information has been released as of 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Last month, a local Nashville honky tonk musician was killed after crashing into a stalled semi on Interstate 65 in Nashville.
Shawn Scruggs, 37, was identified as the driver who crashed into the rear of a semi stalled on the interstate on October 25, FOX 17 News reports. Police said there was no evidence that the driver made an attempt to brake or avoid colliding with the semi prior to the crash.
