The Colorado Air National Guard will be conducting F-16 fighter jet flyovers today, Wednesday, November 11, in honor of Veteran's Day.
According to a media release, the Warriors of the 104th wing will fly the aircraft which will launch from the Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.
“We are honored to fly over our local Veterans Day events and are humbled by the support and appreciation our communities provide to veterans and their military service,” U.S. Air Force Col. Micah Fesler, commander, 140th Wing, said. “We’re all standing on the shoulders of giants, the freedoms we have today are a gift from the generations of brave men and women who fought for our nation before us and those who continue to serve today.”
Based on the National Guard's media release, the aircraft performance flyover schedule is as follows:
- Loveland, Colorado, Veterans Day Parade: 11:11 a.m.
- Durango, Colorado, Veterans Day Parade: 11:48 a.m.
- Grand Junction, Colorado, Veterans Day Ceremony: 12:05 p.m.
Residents can also see the aircrafts as they transition from location to location.
The flyovers serve as training for the pilots and are conducted at no additional cost to taxpayers.
Colorado Air National Guard also urges residents to wear masks and practice social distancing while viewing the Veteran's Day flyovers.
