These Denver Counties Have Switched To Full Remote Learning

Douglas County School District will be switching to all remote learning when students return from Thanksgiving break on November, 30.

The news was announced on Thursday, November 13 after the district learned that Douglas County's CDPHE COVID-19 Dial status would be moved to Level Orange on Friday, November 13 at 5:00 p.m.

"DCSD currently has nearly 5,000 students and staff members in quarantine and 13 schools in remote learning status, and it appears those numbers will continue to rise in the coming days," reads a news release from the district's website. "This is creating a staffing shortage for in-person learning that can no longer be overcome."

The last day of in-person instruction for DCSD elementary schools will be Thursday, November 19.

As of now, the district still plans on the scheduled second semester in-person resume dates of Monday, January 4 for staff and Tuesday, January 5 for students.

Jefferson County also announced that their K-5 students will transition into full remote learning on November 30 as well.

Douglas and Jefferson are the latest counties in the Denver area to switch over to a full remote learning status.

They're joining Adams 12 Five Star Schools in Adams County, Boulder Valley School District, Greeley-Evans District 6, and Cherry Creek School District and Littleton Public Schools in Arapahoe County, which are all transitioning their last students to remote learning during the week of November 16.

Denver Public Schools only has students in second grade and below attending in-person instruction. The district will decide whether to continue remote learning for grades three through five after Thanksgiving break.
