Lakewood Couple Creates Contactless Christmas Tree Delivery Service

David Elger and Lea Hatch have created a way to make Christmas safe with their no-contact Christmas tree delivery service.

Elger and Hatch's asafechristmas.com is an online service where you can order a Christmas tree and it will arrive at your front door with no person to person contact necessary.

The idea for their delivery service stemmed from their 9-year-old daughter's disappointment with how the holidays have played out this year due to the pandemic.

"She came to me disappointed that Halloween was canceled and said that she heard that Thanksgiving and Christmas would be canceled as well," Elger told FOX31. "This broke my heart and in talking with my fiancé, we thought how sad it is to be a kid these days from home learning, not seeing their friends, not being able to go anywhere always wearing your mask."

With both Elger and Hatch having to close down their businesses at the start of the pandemic, they decided to use some of their newfound free time spreading Christmas cheer to people in Denver who can't go out and get a tree themselves this year.

In addition, the couple will be donating a portion of their sales to the Boy Scout troops helping them with deliveries.

"A lot of them have been the elderly or people that don't want to go out and get a tree because they've been exposed to COVID," said Elger. "A lot of people just don't want to go out and put their families in danger."

ASafechristmas.com will be making tree deliveries within the Denver metro area.
