Tristan Thompson Tweets Farewell To Cleveland Before Heading To Boston

Tristan Thompson bid Cleveland a fond farewell before heading to Boston.

Thompson, 29, recently signed with the Boston Celtics, moving on from his years with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He took to Twitter on Monday (November 30) to reflect on his time in Cleveland.

“Cleveland, what a ride it has been,” Thompson reflected. “From the first day of my career that I arrived in Cleveland, as a 19 year old kid from Canada, I have received nothing but love and support from the entire city.

“Cleveland will forever be embedded in my heart and I will always cherish the countless amount of memories I’ve made over the last 10 seasons,” he continued. “From getting drafted, to 4 straight Finals appearances, to winning the 2016 NBA Championship…and bringing a well-deserved ring to the city of Cleveland. I’d like to thank everyone in Cleveland who was a part of my journey including everyone who works at the Q that helped make my family feel at home every game.”

Thompson’s upcoming departure also prompted an open letter to him, written by Cleveland Cavs Writer Joe Gabrielle.

“Thanks for understanding Cavalier fans and embracing what it’s like to be a Clevelander. Not every player that comes to town does,” Gabrielle wrote, in part. “You did. You mirrored our passion; you fed it and fed off it.”

The Cavs also acknowledged Thompson’s “utmost grace” in representing The Land, wishing him well moving forward.

“The grit and toughness that I developed playing for a city like Cleveland will forever be instilled in me,” Thompson wrote, turning his sights to his future city. “To the city of Boston! To say it’s an honor to wear the green and white is an understatement! I can’t wait to get to work!!!!”
