Is Las Vegas Safe? Here's Where It Falls On 2020's Safest Cities List

Safety is one of the main reasons that people move in and out of certain cities.

After determining where Americans can feel the most secure, Wallethub added a couple of Nevada cities to the list of "2020's Safest Cities in America."

Las Vegas was the 163rd safest city in the nation, according to the list.

Las Vegas wasn't the only Nevada city that made the list, however. Henderson came in at number 64 and was the highest-placing city in Nevada.

Reno came in at number 101, and North Las Vegas came in at number 113.

According to the list, the safest city in America is Columbia, Maryland. South Burlington, Vermont came in second and Plano, Texas came in third.

Nashua, New Hampshire and Lewiston, Maine rounded out the top five.

To determine the list, Wallethub compared 180 cities across three key dimensions: home and community safety, natural-disaster risk, and financial safety.

Those three dimensions were then evaluated using 42 relevant metrics, including average number of COVID-19 cases within the last seven days, number of mass shootings, share of sheltered homeless, earthquake risk level, tornado risk level, foreclosure rate, job security, and share of households with emergency savings.
