A Texas man was found dead in a wooded area about 65 miles west of Fort Worth. According to local officials, the man was possibly killed by a mountain lion.
The sheriff's office said that the Tarrant County medical examiner's office found that the man most likely died from an animal attack, reported CBS DFW.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said that it does not believe that a mountain lion attack occurred.
Hood County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that experts investigated the area where the body was found and did not find any supporting evidence of a mountain lion attack.
The department said, "Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has no records of a confirmed fatal attack on a person by a mountain lion in Texas. Texas Parks and Wildlife also has no confirmed records of a mountain lion in Hood County. It appears we have two conflicting reports from two agencies that are experts in their fields. We stand behind the preliminary findings of the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office that rule out a suicide and a homicide on the death in question."
The Sheriff's office added that they will continue to alert the public of any safety issues.
